Amorcito Corazón Discussion #114-118 Sept. 24-28

F5 starts the love note lie with bad results.  Zoe thinks the letter is a check and rips it up. She asks F5 to tell her what he wrote.  Ooops.  Zoe and Sarita piece the letter together; then F5 returns and kisses Zoe.  She throws him out.

Lala, Willy, and Juancho worry about Barf; poor things, when will they realize she’s a bad egg like rIcky.  Oh right, they still think he’s OK too.  Sigh.

EWM tells Fer Minnie talked badly about her to Sarita.  This info came out when she and Isa fought over at Beba’s.  It’s official Fer has had a lobotomy – he doesn’t let Minnie explain she was venting about EWM general evilness.  This does not bode well for my sanity w/this scenario.  The madness continues when he confronts Isa about talking badly about EWM.  Yes, friends I’m serious.  He’s been so brainwashed its only a matter of time until EWM will be ordering her wedding dress.  His friends ask him what’s up with EWM hanging around all the time.  The brainless wonder is confused.

Lucia catches Barf and Knuckles sucking face.  Barf returns home, acts horrible to those concerned for her well-being, and runs to her room.  Being the materialistic, money-grubbing heifer (apologizing at cows everywhere for this reference) that she is, Barf is very exciting about the mp3 player Knuckles gave her.

Adelita continues to mix up all the girls names (as do I).  She visit with Lala, who notes how all of her children are a bit way-ward currently; Lala even says Willy is a demon.  Once she’s left the room Adelita sprinkles holy water on his picture (quite funny).  The next scene escalates the humor as it seems Adelita is trying to perform a type of exorcism on the kids using their pics, holy water, and a smoky shrine.  Willy returns home, thinks its on fire and douses his mother and the new num with water.

Looks like rIcky stole another item for Jorrible.

EWM shows concern for Horny, who seems to be our only hope to stopping EWM’s stalking of Fer.  But she must find out about her crazy stalking daughter first.  However, she does realize EWM is acting like Sofia.

After spending the whole episode fighting, Isa decides to go to Fer’s office to talk   Classic TN set-up to keep the couple apart longer – she walks in on Fer and EWM kissing.  Save me.

Oh dear, Karen; it looks like you drew a slow-witted episode again. But thanks for the overview -- I now feel justified skipping all scenes involving Lobo-botomy, Crazy Manny, and Isa the Clueless. I can't wait to watch Adelita in action, though! She cracks me up!

"money-grubbing heifer", ""general evilness", "smoky shrine" and "brainless wonder"??

IDK Karen, this sounds kind of intersting! I don't know what's going on but your recap had me smiling away. I always enjoy your sense of humor and this was no exception!

Diana

Gerat work Karen! I felt your pain with those Fenando scenes. Lobo-botomy is right! Good grief. I hope this studity is explained away with whatever illness he has.

I also hope Lucia spills the beans to Juancho and Willy that Barf was sucking face with some other guy.

BL - yes unfortunately the episode reminded me of Absimo where characters act stupid solely for the purpose of prolonging the narrative.

Diana - I wish things were more interesting. The plot is at the stage where most of the fun comes from mocking the baddies and good people making ridiculously bad choices.

Vivi - Lucia can't still that story soon enough. At least Isa & Fer have been a couple, Juancho & Marisol have yet to be one. Boo Hiss!

Thank you, Karen! It was such a frustrating episode, but you made it funny.

I did love the exorcism or whatever Adelita was doing to the house. It was so funny, with Lala trying to follow along and having to duck to avoid her dramatic demon-ridding arm flings.

My absolute favorite moment was Willy G's aerobic class, and Moncho joining in so he could have a brief chat with Willy. I want to take that class. Even if I didn't do the aerobics, I'd get a good ab workout from laughing so hard.

Lobo-tomized is so frustrating. His illness had better explain this stupidity, I agree. Gee, dude, if EVERYONE is telling you Man-not-well-a is a problem, and you've seen her skankiness firsthand, maybe they're right?! Where's Marilechuga when we need her to talk some sense into him?

Lobo-tomized and Isablockhead are both being morons. Like after Fer came to her office and tried to talk to her and she snootily threw him out, then sobbed, "I wonder what he was going to say?!" Geez, Louise, maybe if you had let him talk, you would know! Can't care about these two. Now where's Moncho's romantic plotline?

Julia - I think Moncho and Adelita could be a fun couple. The fact the both are clumsy has very rich possibilities.

And ITA the writers have made Fer & Isa two of the most insipid people on this TN. You would think they would throw us a bone and have at least ONE couple we like together.

I thought it was funny how Lala introduced her kids to Adelita (through their pictures): This is Willy, he's el demonio, Barb is a total headache, oh, and there's Ricky...fortunately he doesn't live here anymore. No pretensions, that lady. She and her daughter are total opposites.

Brief update. Please add more to what I've forgotten.

Fer continues to make lobo-botomized decisions; his latest, after hearing from the doctor about his probable cancer, he confides in EWM and tells her to tell no one else.

F5 & Zoe fight again. And Zoe brings her anger to the workplace - she slaps EWM after the latter rips up the contract (?) Isa has been working on.

The Rebound Trolls dupe their novios though Juancho seems to be getting weary of Barf - about time.

Lucia visits Willy in the gym to tell him off about Adelita which, of course, makes him happy b/c she's jealous. He sends Moncho give Adelita another flower. Moncho is smitten by Adelita - the best part of the episode (b/c its bye-bye Barf)!

Thanks Karen! Yes, Moncho and Adelita were the best part of the episode.

The other thing that happened is that Mani arranged to have Fer admitted to some fancy cancer clinic in Cancun, but they aren't going to tell his friends or family where he's going or why. Real smart move Fer!

Thanks, Karen. I agree that Moncho was the best part. I'm so glad things are improving for him. We need for someone to be happy!

Watching Cecilio woo Zoe through proxy FFFFF was funny, but kind of painful. His poetic, heartfelt words in Flippy's whiny voice...such a mismatch. Cecilio is too nice a friend for his own good, or Zoe's good either.

Isa and Zoe need to install spy cameras in the office to collect evidence of Manuela's misdeeds, since Fer is too stupid to believe anything he doesn't see himself (and a lot of what he does).

Thanks Vivi. I wasn't sure whether Fer agreed or not to the clinic.

Yes Julia I think Fer will need video proof for EWM. Perhaps he'll actually see her harming on of his daughters (it will have to be one of them at this point), then he'll get his brain back.

I do hate when writers have a protagonist trust the one person in the whole TN s/he should NEVER trust. And its not like Fer doesn't have evidence that EWM is crazy. Boo hiss.

Ahoy all. Moncho y Adelita...SI!! What a couple of cuties. I love that Adelita has a little fire burning within.

Karen, thank you for your recaps and for putting the episode number in the posts. It helps me stay current when I can't be at my computer.

I'm always fascinated by the workplace ethics in our telenovelas. In the real world (U.S. anyway) you slap a co-worker you get fired immediately for gross misconduct, no severance, no nuthin'. Much as I hate Manuela and like Zoe, Zoe really should learn to contain her temper. I hope Fer heeds Zoe's (and everyone's) warnings.

Manuela, what a beeaatch! I'm talking about Wednesday's episode. Grrrrr.

"I do hate when writers have a protagonist trust the one person in the whole TN s/he should NEVER trust. And its not like Fer doesn't have evidence that EWM is crazy. Boo hiss." Amen sister!!

Sylvia yes in the real world (at least in the US) Zoe's actions would leave her fired and possibly with charges. We know her flaw is being very emotional but I hope she tones down by the end of the TN.

I got behind on the episodes so I'm dreading to see what witchy does next.

Highlights and lowlights from Wednesday:

Manwitch crept around the apartment and stole all the asthma meds and then poured talc in Marifer's pillow to give her an asthma attack. She was also a shrew with malice on her mind to Minerva again, and unfortunately Fer didn't hear it.

Moncho tried to snap himself out of being attracted to Adelita. Adelita very briefly let her hair down. She might have a less pious streak hidden!

Barf pretended she was going out with Juancho and went to meet Knuckles.

Fernando was kind enough to give Zoe 3 months' severance pay even though she neither deserves nor is legally entitled to it. Zoe tried to tell him what a fool he's being in regards to Isa and Manwitch. He just looked exhausted; hard to tell if any of it sunk in.

FFFFFlippy took Zoe to his place for a fancy dinner and wooing, all executed by Cecilio. Unfortunately for their plan, Cecilio's phone rand and Zoe found him hiding in FFFFF's closet. Guess that game is up?

Thanks Julia. I thought Adelita's hair-letting-down scene was adorable. It will be fun watching her come out of her cocoon.

I was glad that Zoe gave Fernando the hard truth, even though I doubt any of it really sunk in. Maybe she planted a seed of doubt? I hope.

The Flippy/Zoe wooing, completely predictable and completely fun. I enjoyed those scene immensely.

Darn that Manuela! She is setting up Minerva isn't she? Because someone has to get blamed for getting rid of the meds and stuff. I think Minerva should quit and move in with Sarita if there is room. I hated the scene where Fer gave Minerva a dressing down for talking to Sarita. Maybe a good job is hard to come by, but right now Minerva's job isn't very good. Although she loves the girls and that is probably keeping her around as well.

I also hated the way Fer got on Minerva's case for talking to her friend about her problems. QTH, Fer. Plus, Mine has been caring and loyal to his family forever, so if she (and EVERYONE ELSE) is telling him Manwitch is a problem, maybe there's something to it? Fer needs a cure ASAP. This mind melt is too frustrating.

I wish Lucía would spare a little more time from her work and her thoughts of Willy to pay more attention to her brother and nieces. How is it that stupid Fer is convinced to only confide in known conniver Manwitch, rather than his own sister, known helper of people? Or, say, his uncle the priest? Wouldn't he be a good person to talk to about your troubles, Fer? Or Cecilio, the best friend ever. Manwitch's potions must have really done their job.

Julia,

Great point about Luci and Padre Tio, what in the world is the man thinking or better yet, what sort of voodoo is Manwitch working on the poor guy.

I love Adelita and Moncho together and would much rather watch them than watch that train wreck across town.

What has Horny been up to, has she given up on Willy?

Rosemary Primera

Thank you so much for the recap!

I too am getting so tired of the Fernando lobo-botomy crap. It makes no sense and it's frustrating. I guess they have to draw this out a long time since there are about 87 episodes of this novela left. Ugh.

I spent the entire Thursday episode wishing someone would punch Manuela. She. Is. The. Worst. And Fernandon't just lets that zorra run the henhouse. I was really hoping that Doris would finally give in and tell Fer the truth about the non-pregnancy and what she knows about Manwitch's dirty deeds. The kids' lives are in danger! So frustrating that Fer NEVER overhears all the abuse Many gives everyone.

At least the neighborhood dudes are still entertaining.

Uuuuuy hoping to get caught up this weekend.

"Letting the zorra run the henhouse" -- good one, Julia.

Julia thanks for your summary of Wed and Thurs. Your list of relatives and friends should be turning to instead of the witch to me reflects bad writing and an extension. A few episodes ago he would have NEVER made that decision. Basta.

In light of the terror EWM is I hope the writers start allowing at least one couple to get together.

RP - Horny had sent rIcky to disfigure Lucia. He gave her faked pictures and she called the bank on him so when he cashed the check, he'd get arrested. In this instance it was good he escaped the po-po because he visited Horny and threatened to harm her if anything happened to Lucia (or at least that's what I interpreted).

Since then she seems to be just being a grandmother; no harassing of Fer or Willy. I'm wondering if the writers are trying to rehabilitate her. I hope she doesn't get off the hook for all the mess she has pulled.

About halfway through last week's episodes. Thanks for the heads-up on the Moncho scenes, everybody -- I watched most of them twice! He and Adelita make a very cute couple.

Thanks much all for keeping the recap and comments for this TN.

Ugh! I'm so tired of seeing lobotomized Fernando being drug around by the nose by EWM. Not that Isa has had an intelligent expression on her face for a long while either. It's just so booooorrrrring. And predictable. But mostly the writers have clearly run out of ideas yet are contractually obligated to keep churning out the episodes no matter what.

Also I think the Lucia Willy scenes have devolved into Lucia lines, Willy lines. Lucia always has exactly the same furious expression whenever she talks to Willy.

Sorry - I guess I got caught up in a rant.

Hmm - maybe I need to go back and watch the Moncho Adelita scenes too. That should cheer me up!

Audrey don't feel bad about the rant. It saddens me to see the show devolve most likely b/c of extensions. As Julia noted, Fer choosing to trust EWM is irrational; though his character has been a jerk, he was once wise to EWM.

Stay w/Moncho and Adelita. For now, the rest seems FF worthy.

ITA, Audrey. I so tired of the "nun scowl." And Lucía isn't even very nice anymore.

Was this TN extended? Does anyone know? It certainly is acting that way. I've made a promise to myself to never again start watching a show that isn't already in the can at the time of its American debut. There aren't enough beanies in the WORLD.

You know a tn is adding major filler when they spend 5 minutes talking about the virtues of a Roomba and then watching it work!

Just caught up on Thursday's and Friday's episodes. 1) I'm so glad Manuela's nasty stunt backfired on her and Isa saved the day. But I HATE Manny for blaming Minerva for the crisis. I knew it was going to happen but still. 2) Also glad that Zoe and Cecilio kissed. Come on you two, admit how you feel! But there's that pesky pregnancy... 3) I can't believe Fer asked Isa to give their relationship another try. Also can't believe when Isa rejected him she calmly told him the real reason why. Truth, what a concept. 4) Love Suzy's interaction with Manuela and love how Manuela continually feels the need to assert that she (Manny) is muy inteligente.

I love the faces Susy makes when Manuela insists she's so muy inteligente. Like, you are not fooling anyone, idiot. It's like when little kids tell you about their superhero powers, but less innocent and cute, and less true.

Can't believe they spent all that screen time on a Roomba and didn't even modify it into a DJ Roomba, like Tom did on Parks and Recreation. Too bad Moncho wasn't selling those when he was in the vacuum biz!

If they need to fill time, they should have more dancing scenes. Those are always fun. Also, we need less time of Manuela's nastiness, and more instances of her being humiliated.
