PABLO ESCOBAR Part 1

We know that the producers of this show are related to some of the victims, so maybe they're painting Escobar in a less than flattering light. Of course, I'm sure he was a monster, but on this show, now that Marcos Herber is out of the picture, all the other narcos look like princes compared to Pablo. They, at the very least, seem to have honor in their business dealings, and one would think they have a certain respect for family of cartel members. But not Pablo. He's becoming a total pig, devoid of any true compassion or positive emotions.

General Ulloa tells Colonel Pedregal he never even heard of Pablo Correa. Oh no, he was a big fish, says Pedregal. It's a big blow to the Medellin cartel. Okay fine, have a press conference. But we can't let our guard down. We have to keep after these guys. No prob, says the slimy Pedregal. He has a press conference, bragging about his great accomplishment.

Hernan's wife is carrying a duffel bag, goes to a pay phone, when masked and armed guys take the bag away. It probably had money in it. She screams after them, where's Hernan? Across town, Correa's wife Laura is thrown off the bed, and masked guys cut open the mattress, taking the last of her money, and putting it in a little bag. We see one of the masked guys is Chili.

We next see the same little bag full of bills. Pablo gives it to Pati, who's relaxing on a chaise lounge by the pool, reading a magazine. She's not impressed. A dollar more, a dollar less, who cares? Yes, but honey, I'm giving it to you, you can spend it. Look, Pablo, don't you get it? I'd rather be poor and happy than.....okay, fine, thanks for the wonderful gift (she says sarcastically. Fine, says Pablo, snatches the bag away, gives it to the henchmen, split it up between you guys, what do I care.

A dog digs up Hernan's body on a beach.

Gildardo (the Cali capo) has a talk with his top adviser, who says Pablo Escobar is nuts. Gildardo agrees, but they have to be careful with him. (I'm pretty sure now that Gildardo initially told Pablo that two guys in the Medellin cartel owed him money. Pablo was supposed to “take care of it”. But I don't think Gildardo thought Pablo would kidnap and kill his own guys!).

Mauricio Estrepes tells Pedro Montoa that Pablo killed both the guys and robbed their wives. Despite a lot of evidence (the tracing of the phone call, finding Topo and Marino there, Pablo saying don't get involved, the wives getting robbed), Pedro isn't convinced. But why are you telling me this? Maurico answers, if I have to kill Escobar, I want to know if you'll back me.

Pavon, one of the sicarios who killed Rodrigo Bonilla Lara, visits Pablo. He was in jail with the other guy, El Piña. El Piña got out first, and proceeded to steal Pavon's wife. He's now taken her with him, and works for the Cali cartel. Pablo says he'll handle it, taking out his odious little book, and making a note.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Part 2

Pedro Montoa looks Pablo right in the eye. Did you kidnap and kill those two guys? Pablo looks Pedro Montoa right in the eye and says “No. I had nothing to do with it.” Pedro continues, well, do you have any idea who did it? Well, says Pablo, as for Correa, his own kidnappers probably killed him. When we tracked him down, we found him dead, and took advantage of that to turn him in to the police, to keep our inside man happy. And as for Hernan Valenzia, I bet the Cali cartel did it. But who gave you all these ideas? Mauricio Estrepo. Pablo takes out that infernal book again. Uh oh.

Peluche has bought a house, a nice mansion from a guy named Ernesto.

Mauricio visits Gildardo. Did you have anything to do with kidnapping Correa and Valenzia? No, we didn't do it. That means that Pablo Escobar killed both Correa and Valenzia. And he also stole $4 million from each of their wives. This wasn't money owed to Pablo, he just took it. We really are going to have to kill Pablo Escobar. Gildardo doesn't say anything.

Pedro Montoa wants Pablo to meet with Gildardo (since Pablo said Gildardo probably killed Hernan). Pablo said it's a waste of time, Gildardo would never admit it. The topic is closed. We're done with talking about those two guys. What we have to do now is stop Mauricio. Idiot Pedro doesn't see what's really going on.

Gildardo calls Pablo, what's up? You killed the guys? Then you stole $4 million from each of their wives? Look, says Pablo, I told you I'd do it my way. You knew that. So keep your mouth shut. Gildardo agrees, he won't say a word. Oh, and by the way, adds Pablo. Do you have a guy named Piña? We need him dead. What, says Gildardo, you're asking me to kill one of my own men? Nah, of course not, just tie him up, leave him out, and we'll take care of the “package”. Will you do that for me? Gildardo, disgusted tells Pablo no way. He doesn't operate like that. This conversation is over. He hangs up, leaving Pablo yelling into the phone.

Could this mean war?

PABLO ESCOBAR -

great recap Hombre !!!

I don't know how you are keeping this all straight, you don't happen to have a little notebook you keep in your shirt pocket? ha!

everytime Pablo pulls out the little book, I go "ut-oh",
have you noticed the book is bigger than when we started?
I keep wondering why the police don't stop him and take a look at it.

anyway, do you know the character "Chili"?
he is played by Anderson Ballesteros,
here are some bits from the actors bio from IMBd

"When Anderson was two years old his father placed him with his paternal grandmother in Medellin, the city then controlled by the notorious drug cartel of Pablo Escobar. Anderson ran away from home at the age of 14, joined a gang and disappeared into the dark world of crime and violence by which runaways survived on the streets of Medellin"

2000 (during casting of the film Our Lady of the Assassins)
"The renown Colombian poet/director 'Victor Gaviria' had observed Anderson selling incense on a street corner and told Mr. Schroeder that he thought he knew a boy who might be perfect for the role of Alexis, but when they searched for Anderson he had completely disappeared. However, the REAL Alexis (from Fernando Vallejo's autobiographical novel upon which the movie was based) knew Anderson and personally led Mr. Schroeder to the guerrilla-controlled hillside ghetto where he lived in a tiny apartment with his little brother. Anderson had been ill, but after auditioning for "Assassins" was immediately cast in what was to become one of Mr. Schroeder's most profound, controversial and ground-breaking films."

PABLO ESCOBAR

Hombre, I finally got caught up over the weekend. Last week was a blur of intense work days and a meeting or class every evening as well.

Thanks so much for the excellent recaps. It WAS confusing which cartel was which during the introduction of all these new characters.

Wow, watching all four episodes one after the other was very depressing. You said it. Pablo is a pig who doesn't follow the famous code: honor among thieves.

It was discouraging that, instead of adroitly getting more information from Pablo, Pedro Montoa just came right out with what Mauricio Restrepo told him. This probably means the guy is toast.

Chili is chilling! It was interesting reading what Deb said about his actually having led a criminal life. He seemed more human at the beginning of the novela, but now he grins a ghastly smile when someone is being hurt. And he seemed to take an almost sexual pleasure in getting all their husbands' money out of the women.

I'm starting to wonder when we will see some setbacks for Escobar.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 1

Fabiola appears to have lost her virginity as she and Miggy snuggle in bed. He tells her that he always thought he’d die alone in the line of duty, but now he wants to be with her always. She tells him he’s her first man and will be her last.

Sammy appears to have some mother’s instinct that her daughter is out there. Willy disagrees.

D8D puts on a gag-inducing grampa act with Nico and Jessica.

Ángela tells Gus they can’t yet live together. Violeta needs time to adjust. But she says her mind is made up and she’s chosen him.

Laura tells JM that there’s no such thing as an unforgettable love, citing her recovery from loving Gus.

We see some flashbacks of how Miggy and FF got away. He destroys her tracking ring, while she protests. He steals a car, leaving the ambulance they first had behind. He then tells her that, if you’re trying to get away from the world, you have to get rid of everything. Later they leave the car and get some bicycles.

Gus has managed to track Nicolás and Jessica and says they’re at D8D’s. [In most novelas Willy and Sam would suffer for a week, not knowing.] Clara is thrilled to have the kids there. D8D grins like Tarzan’s chimp Cheetah at the prospect of Sam and Willy suffering. He then calls Thelma on his cell. She is Jessica’s mother.

Génesis tells her father she misses Violeta. She’s bored. She asks Laura if she knows any good games. When Laura says no, Génesis makes an unfavorable comparison with Ángela, while Laura rolls her eyes.

Duval comes to tell JM that Miggy took FF from the Witless Protection Program he organized.

Laura puts some serious moves on JM

D8D tells Rod that Thelma is beautiful, and the type of woman you can’t leave alone, apparently Victor’s m8istake. Sam and Willy show up looking for Nico and Jess. But D8D tells them that Thelma is going to do some paperwork signing over custody of Jessica to him. Grinning like mad, he tells them he knows a judge will uphold this. [Visions of him on the conveyor belt headed for the buzz saw again dance through my head.]

Ángela kisses Gus right in front of Violeta. Violeta tells Gus she can tell that he loves her mother, and she won’t object. After he leaves the room, she tells Ángela that she prefers JM, but will accept Gus.

JM and Laura make love.

After Sam and Willy bring Jessica and Nico back, Jess goes to call her mother. Willy says he’ll contact JM about preventing Jessica going to live with D8D. [I would think deserting the kid for years would preclude her being able to turn the kid over to anyone. How do they know D8D isn’t a child molester?]

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 2

D8D invites Camilo (Luis) over. He’s at Gus’s place, because he moved in there.

Miggy asks Fabiola to tell him everything about her life. She says it used to be normal. She went to school. Then we see the flashback scene again where her mother is killed and her father taken away. They didn’t know she was in the closet.

JM and Laura apparently had a great time in bed. He tells her they should imagine themselves in front of a blank canvas where only they can write the story. I notice some odd modern paintings on the wall that weren’t there when Ángela stayed in the room. Laura tells JM she has never wanted children, a point that appears to me to disqualify her from ending up with JM, but who knows? We all know all heroines in TN’s desperately want kids.

The Reptile has stolen some other nutcase’s doll and drawn a scar on it. She tells it that it looks just like its mother. She talks to it as the baby she lost, while we see JM telling Laura about the two babies he lost, one by Fernanda and one by Isabel. Laura is surprised when JM tells her he’d have married the Reptile if he’d known she was pregnant. The real owner of the doll shows up in the Reptile’s room. They struggle, and the Reptile hits her head on the wall, falling unconscious.

Esteban shows up at Willy and Sam’s, angry they didn’t tell him Nico had turned up. [Can’t they put a chain on the door and a deadbolt to keep out El Jefe and D8D, who seem to enter at will?] Esteban tells them D8D wants to harm Nico, and Willy says he knows his father is capable of anything. Jess comes down saying that her mother said that she wanted her to live with D8D.

Miggy reads a very romantic and sweet letter from Fabiola that she had written him in the hospital, while she plays piano.

I can’t figure out what D8D’s plan is with Camilo. When Camilo shows up, he plies him with liquor. He tells him they don’t need Dante as an intermediary any more. D8D tells Camilo he doesn’t have anyone to share his plans of vengeance with now that Ofelia is gone. He asks Camilo what he thinks of Clara. Camilo says she’s pretty, young, and ingenuous. Meanwhile D8D gets a text from El Verdugo saying: mis hombres van por la cabeza de Miguel Valdez.

I’m getting more and more nervous that D8D may be onto Camilo. He asks him how the “poor gardener” died. Camilo tells him about the Reptile shooting his brother. D8D tells him about killing Darío. He also says someday he’d like not only to order killing but also to do it himself. The Reptile told him it was pleasurable. Then he digs at “Luis” a bit telling him that the irresistible JM stole his wife. Camilo does a great Luis impersonation, pulling a gun on D8D.

Sam, Willy, and Ángela discuss Jessica’s mother, Thelma Ríos. Nora looks amazed. She tells them that she killed Thelma Ríos’ mother in prison!

Miggy and FF watch the Bonnie and Clyde movie. Later they snuggle and say sweet things, when Miggy hears a sound. “They found us”, he declares.

Gus and Duval come to tell JM that the Reptile is dead. Earlier they showed a doctor doing CPR and saying it was no use, she was gone. I’ve got my doubts. But getting knocked against a wall in the nuthouse hard enough to make her unconscious didn’t seem like she could have planned it.

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks for the super recap, Novelera.

Yes, lots of questions. I guess Camilo's story is that the Reptile killed Camilo who was pretending to be Luis and then Luis returned to town and pretended to be Camilo, the humble gardener but then he reverted back to being Luis. That at least makes some sense. I don't understand what D8D is up to with Camilo. I have always suspected that he knows or suspects that this new Luis is really Camilo. D8D is pretty smart.

So JM and Laura had sex. I will bet you that Angie never has sex with Gus. "Good" women on novelas just don't get to do that.

Nora killed Jessica's grandmother in prison????

I'm sure the Reptile is not dead. Either the guy that declared her dead is Verdugo's guy and/or the Reptile has taken something that makes her appear to be dead. But everyone will think that she is dead and she will be able to work on her Plan of Vengeance.

CORAZON VALIENTE:
Thanks so much Novelera! I missed half the episode, so thanks for filling me in. I'm glad I missed JM taking yet ANOTHER woman to his bed. I understand Miggy, since he was supposed to be a womanizer. But JM is supposed to be our loyal galan, and I think he's got both Miggy and Willy beat with the number of women he's slept with. Jeez!

Glad that Miggy and FF are officially a couple now. Her wild little girl act still grates on my nerves a bit, but they're cute together.

I was also worried that D8D was on to Camilo and was getting him drunk on purpose to break him out of character. We'll see where this little game leads.

CORAZON VALIENTE

Thanks novelera for the excellent recap.
Yes, seemed like that DD knows about Camilo's true identity!
Loved the scene when FF didn't want to give her microchip "ring" back :)

PABLO ESCOBAR Lunes, Part 1

Gonzalo, Fabio and Peluche are discussing the latest shipment of cocaine, 3,000 kilos. Apparently, out of that, Pablo and Gonzalo get 1,000 each, and Peluche and Fabio 500 each. Chili and Topo ask, we've been loyal and all, how about if WE start sharing in the profits, not just be on salary? Gonzo is a little surprised, but agrees to take it up with Pablo.

The guys are going to have a meeting in the back of this cocaine factory. Not everyone is there, specifically Marino, who's making love to Yesenia, and when he gets paged, decides to keep making love, rather than rush off to a meeting. In the meeting, the whole cartel is there. Pablo says two people have to be “taken care of”. Number 1 is Mauricio Restrepo. Pedro Montoa agrees, as does Mariachi (too bad neither of them knows what Pablo did to Correa and Valenzia).

Number two problem, says Pablo, is Gildardo, who denied me a simple request (to kill one of his own workers), this coming right on the heels of him killing our two guys (which is a lie). We've got to take down Gildardo. But wouldn't this start a war? Pedro asks. So be it, says Pablo, that bum showed me a lack of respect, and we won't let that slide. To a man, the guys support Pablo. Mariachi is on board, and even Pedro's brothers Julio and Arnando (?) agree. With all this peer pressure, of course Pedro goes along, too.

At the Cali headquarters, they're also discussing strategy. They all agree that Pablo Escobar is crazy, unhinged. Yes, he took care of Correa and Valenzia, but stealing all their wives' money? They discuss getting rid of Mauricio, but in the end, Gildardo says we're not going to do one thing. We'll wait for Escobar to make the first move.

Yesenia tells Marino she loves him. Marino doesn't like this hiding, why can't he just openly bring Yesenia to Pablo and they admit they're an item? Yesenia nixes this idea, it's just not the right time (she's got THAT right!)

Pati tells Pablo she was told there's “no room” for Emilio in some exclusive school. Pablo isn't happy about this. As he fills two briefcases with cash for today's “errands” he tells Pati he'll go to the school tomorrow, and have a “talk” with Mr. Ortiz, the principal. He makes a note in his little book. Pati gets a face like (uh oh, not again), but kisses Pablo goodbye.

PABLO ESCOBAR Part 2

Pablo gives one suitcase of money to Chili and Topo, the other to Marino. They've got some important mission. Pablo approaches Chili, I understand you guys want to share in the shipments, not just be on salary, right? Chili plays it cool. Boss, let's wait until we finish this important mission for you. No need, says Pablo. Taking out his book, he tells Chili that he and Topo can have 50 kilos each from the current 3,000 kilo shipment. Chili grins from ear to ear, all right!

Gildardo's brother Manuel and his adviser are discussing the Escobar problem. One of them thinks Escobar would never try something against a rival cartel leader. But the other reminds him about Bonilla Lara, Jairo Jimenez, Guillermo Cano. Maybe they could go against Escobar without telling their trusting brother Gildardo.

Kiko cracks a joke about killing, but the other guys say this is serious business.

Peluche and Gonzalo approach a guy with a boat, can he make a secret compartment in the bottom of the boat? He's got 5 days to do it.

Marino talks on a pay phone to Yesenia, telling her he misses her. Cain overhears, makes fun of Marino.

Pati is talking to Ortiz, the Principal of the prestigious O'Higgins school. No, says Ortiz, we didn't kick out Emilio, we just didn't renew his matriculation for another year. We're within our rights to do that. I guess so, says Pati, but I just want an explanation. Well, says Ortiz, it was a petition of all the members of the Parents Association. Well, aren't I a parent, too? Ortiz calls in Dr. Ernesto, the head of the Parents' Association. Look, M'am says Ernesto. I'm going to be frank with you. The parents don't want their kids in class, side by side with the son of one of the most wanted criminals in this country. (Whoa!)

Chili is outside the Cali cartel headquarters (a corner drugstore (hah!) named El Rebajon is the front of it). Pablo gives him the go ahead. One of the Cali brothers arrives, walking right past Chili into the headquarters. Chili walks to the middle of the street, presses a button, and BOOM!, the headquarters explodes, and people start screaming.

Cut to Kiko and Pavon, on another corner, again the place is called El Rebajon. Kiko presses the button, and BOOM goes this one, too! Kiko and Pavon calmly keep eating their nachos. Topo blows up location number three! It looks as if the Cali guys may just be wounded and bloody, maybe not dead, but Pablo has certainly sent a message! He gloats as he floats on his boat.

Tonight: War!

PABLO ESCOBAR -- lunes, martes

Hombre, I'm so glad you are writing these recaps. This is a tough one to follow and you have clarified things for me many times. Thank you so much.

Here's my take on what originally happened with the Cali guys. I think they DID ask the Medellín cartel to kill Correa and Valenzia because they had betrayed Cali before they joined up with Escobar in Medellín. Escobar agreed to do it for half a million dollars each.

Gildardo and Cali were ok with a 'clean kill'. But Pablo used the opportunity to bleed C & V's women dry and then of course used Correa's body as a sop for the government.

All the cartel guys are willing to kill and steal and run drugs. But Pablo defies the code when he goes after the women and grabs more money than agreed on. They are ALL criminals but PABLO (and some, but not all of his guys) are truly sociopaths.

Last night, Tuesday, it looked as if Pablo was showing Chili and Topo what happens to good little sicarios who overreach themselves. Or was he setting up someone else when he planted the drugs in the toilet tank of the ship?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes – Part 1

Duval and Gus decide that the first person they will inform about the Reptile’s supposed death is JM, rather than someone in her family. JM is relieved that the nightmare is over.

The noise that Miggy and FF hear in the house is not Verdugo’s guys but a cute little dog. FF wants to keep it as a substitute for the children Miggy doesn’t want to have but Miggy says no. Cute little FF pouts holding the cute little dog and Miggy can’t resist. He says that she can keep the dog while they are staying at the actress’ house.

Camilo is pointing a gun at D8D and all his veins are popping out. D8D tells him to calm down and says that he didn’t mean to offend him.

Nora tells Willy, Sam and Angie how Jessica’s grandmother died in prison. The grandmother attached Nora, Nora defended herself, grandma fell, hit her head and then died (not unlike what supposedly happened to the Reptile). Willy says that what happened was obviously an accident. Nora replies that that is true but once Jessica’s mom knows who Nora is, she won’t want Jessica in her house. Willy asks why grandma was in prison and Nora replies that it was for trafficking in women.

Duval pulls the sheet over the Reptile’s face and her body is taken out. The doctor gives him a death certificate listing a heart attack as the cause of death. Even Dummy Duval is surprised that a young person like the Reptile would have heart disease. He should also have been surprised that the doctor could make such a determination without doing an autopsy. The doctor replies that prison is not a healthy place to be.

Once Duval leaves, the doctor reveals himself to be a bad guy. He calls someone and says that the job is done.

Camilo tells Gus that he can’t take any more. He had to drink two bottles of whiskey and take drugs to keep up his impersonation of Luis. Gus is surprisingly unsympathetic. This is, after all, a civilian who is putting himself at risk and for what? What is the plan? Camilo falls asleep while Gus is talking to him.

Clara tells D8D that the Reptile is dead. D8D does a pretty lousy job of pretending to be grief stricken but it convinces Clara. D8D wants to see his daughter but Clara replies that her body is being taken to the morgue for an autopsy.

JM tells Sam, Willy, Angie and Nora that the Reptile’s death is the best thing that could have happened.

JM thinks he is alone in the kitchen with Angie. He asks if she will forgive him one day. Laura is listening. Angie replies that she will never forgive JM.

Miggy tells FF about how came to LA to find out about his father and how he found his sisters.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes – Part 2

The van taking the Reptile’s body to the morgue is ambushed, the driver and passenger are shot, there’s an exchange of a real corpse for a fake one and then the van is blown up.

Miggy tells FF that the plan is to hang out at the actress’ house until things calm down and then go on a long trip together.

Angie and Sam try and comfort Nora who appears to be the only person who is upset by the Reptile’s supposed death. The doorbell rings and it’s D8D and Clara come to commiserate. Nora accuses D8D of killing the Reptile. Willy orders his father out of the house and tells Clara that D8D is a bad guy. Clara defends D8D and has abdominal pains.

JM tells Laura that with the death of the Reptile, he is entering a new stage of his life. She asks if Angie is going to be a part of that life and JM replies that he is trying to get Angie out of his new life.

Nora is inconsolable. She wants to go to the morgue to see the Reptile’s body. In a nice scene, Willy advises her to try and remember the Reptile as she was when she was a timid little girl.

Miggy tells FF that they are going to the end of the world, otherwise known as Ushuaia, a city at the very southern tip of Argentina. [I’ve been there. It’s gorgeous and cold.] They can start a new life there. Miggy tells FF that he is willing to start a family with her.

Apparently, Nora still wants to see the Reptile’s body because she and Willy are about to go to the morgue when Duval (I think, my notes are bad here) shows up to tells them that the van with the Reptile’s body in it exploded.

Cut to the Reptile completely alive in a hospital bed being visited by her dear old Dad. A flashback shows us how it was done. The corrupt doc injected the Reptile with something that caused her to go into a coma and appear to be dead. The Reptile tells D8D that she is happy that everyone thinks that she is dead. D8D warns her that there aren’t going to be any more mistakes. She is going to have surgery [for her scar, I assume] and then go to Verdugo in Colombia.

We have a montage of scenes of FF and Miggy enjoying their love nest.

El JefEEE comes to see Sam. She tells him that she doesn’t want anything to do with him unless it’s connected to Nic. In a nice move, El JefEEE tries to justify himself by basically saying what happened was Sam’s fault because she created an uncontrollable desire in him.

Clara’s pregnancy is starting to show. She tells D8D that she will care for Jessica and keep her away from the bad people.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes – Part 3

JM tells Willy that working on Jessica’s custody case has reminded him that he enjoys practicing law. He says that he is going to start a law firm (“bufete de abogados,” not to be confused with a “bufet de abogados” where you can get your lawyer deep fried, roasted or in a salad).

Willy sees that Laura and JM are an item. He tells JM that he was a womanizer but now could never love anyone other than Sam. JM says that he didn’t believe he could love anyone but Angie but sometimes love isn’t returned.

More unpleasant encounters for Sam: the elevator doors open and D8D is there. Sam almost doesn’t get in but finally does. D8D claims that he is a changed man. Sam replies that people don’t change. “Like Willy?’ retorts D8D. He says that he is happy with Clara whom he will marry shortly and they will have his daughter, Bernardita.

The Reptile has had plastic surgery. Before the bandage is removed, she asks her mirror if she will be beautiful or ugly.

Gus tells Angie to be careful. The investigation of the van explosion has revealed that the driver and his passenger where shot. He says that something strange is going on. Ya think? Did they do a DNA test on the corpse in the back of the van? – of course not.

Angie tells Gus that starting tomorrow she and her children are coming to live with him. She has decided that Gus is her guy. Gus is happy. Camilo says that he will leave Gus’ place. He doesn’t want to be there with Violeta.

Nora tells her family that she is grateful for their support. Angie, Gus and JC arrive for a big family dinner.

Camilo comes to see D8D and is alone with Clara. She says that he is a bad person.

JM seems kind of down when Laura shows up in sexy underwear.

FF dreams of seeing Miggy shot by masked gunmen. She wakes up says goodbye to the sleeping Miggy.

The Reptile is not happy with the results of the surgery but D8D says that it will take more than one operation. [I could barely see the scar before the surgery.] D8D tells the Reptile that he has her new identity – her name is Victoria.

Angie is having breakfast with Sam. She feels nauseous and looks at the calendar on her smartphone. That can only mean one thing.

The judge gives custody of Jessica to D8D.

Angie tells Sam that she thinks that she is pregnant. Sam says that she is pregnant too!

Miggy wakes up and finds FF gone. She has left a note saying that she doesn’t want to put his life at risk protecting her. She has gone to join the army.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Martes

The new Minister of Justice (Attorney General, remember, the old one was killed) says extraditing Marcos Herber was just the first step. He pledges to catch all the narcos and extradite them.

The Cali cartel brother who was injured in the bomb blast is surrounded by his other family narcos. They all know Pablo Escobar did it, and all want revenge except Gildardo, the leader. But he’s outnumbered.

Pablo and crew are on his new boat with a secret drug compartment down below. Pablo goes down to the below decks bathroom, and stashes a kilo of drugs in the toilet top.

Cain and Marino alight from a small boat in Panama (where Mauricio is). Mauricio sees them approach on his monitor, and immediately takes them prisoner. He ties up the guys, and scoffs at their ID’s, making a little fun of Cain and his bible, and Marino and his girlfriend. Marino says if you kill us, our boss will get you back right away. Mauricio laugh. Well, I don’t even know who your boss is. Wanna tell me? Look guys, I’m not gonna hurt you at all. Just send a message to your boss, that if I want to hurt someone, it’ll be the 3 people closest to him in the world (Pati and the kids).

Pedro Montoa wants to go talk to his friend Gildardo from the Cali cartel. His brothers, Julio and Armando say that’s too dangerous.

The Cali cartel are still debating. This political operative (forgot his name) who once helped Pablo, says Escobar is a power monger. He once honestly thought he’d be elected President of the Republic. But you guys can’t rely on today’s government to help you bring him down, he’s got lots of the army guys in his pocket. If you want to bring down Escobar, you’ll have to do it yourself.

The injured brother talks with El Piña, the one who stole Pavon’s wife, whom Pablo asked Gildardo to kill. He tells El Piña he’s like family, don’t feel guilty about any of this.

Cain and Marino are back at Pablo’s, delivering Mauricio’s message about Pablo’s family. Pablo gets mad. NOBODY will touch my family! And no one can stop me. In anything. His son Emilio comes in, sad because he was kicked out of school. Pablo gets the scoop, this guy Ernesto Armillo is head of the PTA, and he’s responsible for keeping Emilio out. Wait a minute, says Pablo. Ernesto is the guy who sold his house to Peluche. Hmmm. Out comes our little book, as Pablo writes down this fact. (Ernesto better increase his insurance!).

And Piña should, too. Our friendly killers grab him off the street, drive him to the country, tie him to a tree, and while he begs for mercy, Pavon is given the keys to the SUV. He guns the motor, and smashes Piña’s body to bits on that tree. Ewwww.

PABLO ESCOBAR:

NovelaMaven, I agree with your reading of the Cali incident. Yes, Pablo sort of did what they wanted. But now things are WAY beyond that!

As for the drugs in the toilet, I wa baffled. Hopefully we'll find out tonight. If Pablo is taking down his own guys, he's REALLY sunk low.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Jean, another hilarious, completely wonderful recap! I liked the buffet of abogados.

I'm pregnant, too! Why not, just because I'm a man? I thought Sam couldn't have any more children, that's why they were doing artificial insemination, no? Well, I guess it's a miracle!

Miggy's plan to escape forever was pretty lame. What about his family and friends? What about money? (he's not supposed to be independently wealthy like all the others, but apparently can afford just about anything, cars, guns, houses, no problem!)

Jessica sure is lucky to be a nice, good girl, with her father a narco, mother absent, and grandmother trafficking in women. And she never knew!

So FF in the army should be fun. The first scene they showed had very realistic tank tops on all the typical 36-24-36 women who apparently make up the bulk of our country's fighting forces. BTW, do you think they'll forget all about the new dog, they way they seem to have forgotten about Arturo? What's a dog to do?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE:

Thanks for the recap!!!

Did Angie decide that she was pregnant just by looking at her calendar and not having a pregnancy test?? So… with this coincidence I suppose the babies will end up being born on the same day as well. :)

I like that Sam compared EEE to D8D. Sure, Bernie is more evil, but when it's about Sam El Jefe is not that different.

Isn’t Jessie old enough to have a say in the custody issue? How can a woman who seems to have not had any custody of Jessie (since she abandoned her) have any say herself? Of course, it must have been too much to expect JM to handle this case properly.

Ah, Dr. Levin is back and a bit more corrupt than before. :)

I didn’t even remember that Fernanda had a scar before there was talk about surgery.

Btw. Gus was the one who brought the news about the exploding van.

I can’t stand Clara. I want Camilo to find someone better.

Good point about how Camilo is endangering his life, health and sanity for some stupid "plan", while nobody seems to care about what it’s doing to him. (Or how unethical it is.) Ugh.

PABLO ESCOBAR -

thanks so much Hombre !!!
I was getting lost with out your summaries,

still wondering about the boat,

Chili and all seem pretty brazen,
they never hide their faces,
and the police even had sketches of him earlier,

I guess that was true,
Pablo wanting to be President.
this guy is over the top,
it's a good thing that bad guys are like rats,
in that they will eat each other,
this feud with the Cali guys looks like it will be a big factor in Pablo's downfall,
if nothing else they will help the government against him.

those stores they blew up
El Rebajon, what does that mean,
were they discount pharmacies?
I'm guessing cocaine was illegal, if only for U.S. pressure, but,

I saw a travel show on Bolivia a while back where some people were eating cocaine leaves on the train to help adjust to the altitude, and nobody seemed to mind.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE –

thanks so much Jean !!!

wow, three full pages,
I totally appreciate the work you put into these,

and especially last night as the reception was not so good,
one thing I'm curious about that Miggy was about to say,
when the pixels all ran off in different directions,
was what he did with Fabiola's map,

haha Hombre, yes we are all pregnant,
must be something in the water,
this must be a take on Angela and Sammi being born at the same time,
and growing up together, but wait this time they have different fathers,
and for some reason it seems like Angela's should be a virgin birth.
alas,
yet another child from Sammi that D8D will have to control.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Thanks so much for the excellent recap, Jean. Especially liked the buffet of lawyers, gave me an interesting mental visual.

Kihaku, I also noticed that the crooked doctor who injected the Reptile was the same one who agreed to imprison Sammy a while back. I suppose the nuthouse is the same one.

Clara is too dumb to live. She needs to get out of the gene pool. I'm hoping none of her DNA can break through the placental wall. What, she doesn't think it's a bit odd that after his initial fake grief, D8D is grinning like Cheetah again two scenes later?

For some reason I was thinking they were not going to just get rid of the scar, but change her face a lot and we'd get a different actress.

I missed the part where they put a different dead body in the van. So I was wondering why they didn't notice pieces of a dead woman in the bombed remnants of the van/

I know, I know. A telenovela producer was quoted as saying the whole theme of telenovelas is writing reasons for why the two who love each other madly can't be together. But FF leaving the love nest and joining the army seemed crazy to me.

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks all!

Deb: All Miggy said was that he had the treasure map after FF suddenly remembered that she had left it at JM's house.

Lorena told Sam that it would be a miracle if she got pregnant again. Well, if there is anything that we know is that miracles are very common on novelas. People who are on the verge of death miraculously recover without any scars or further medical problems. Even people who are dead can miraculously come back to life.

This novela has hit most of the cliches, one of which is two women, either friends or enemies going into labor at the same time.

Hah! Hombre, I knew you would like this woman's army. Since when do men and women train separately?

Thanks, Novelera. I had completely forgotten about the crooked doctor who put Sam in the mental hospital. That's what you get for not going to the police about it.

Jean,
more kudos from me for the great recap!
I did recognize the crooked doctor from the clinic where Sam was falsely imprisoned months ago. The ethics of the medical profession sure takes a hit in this novela.
Seems like when Fabby and Mig broken out of the hospital and were running for the ambulance, Fabby was gripping her backpack, the one that always had the fruitcake tin in it. Maybe the continuity editors were asleep that day.
And yes, the little dog was cute...but who is taking care of Arturo and Luuucy????
:o)

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – Miércoles – Part 1

We see contrasting scenes of Miggy crying in the Hollywood house while Fabiola appears to be the best recruit of all.

Sam is 3 months late. And she’s only now talking about a pregnancy? Ángela is only a week late. They surmise that Lorena might have been lying about Sam not being ever able to be pregnant again. They decide to get some drugstore tests.

Willy says that Thelma didn’t deserve to be a mother, while some [Sam] so want to be one.

D8D is griping about not being able to accommodate El Verdugo by finding Miggy.

We see some hallmarks of a novela extension: quite a few grayed-out memory scenes. Miggy is remembering the wonderful few days he had with Fabiola.

Gus comes to take Ángela to move in with him while JM, of course, is there because of the issue of Jessica and overhears it. Gus and JM glare at each other a bit.

El Jefe tells his old buddy Nuñez about Clara being pregnant with Sam and Willy’s child. He shows him the folder with the proof of the insemination. He wants someone else to know this because D8D threatened Nicolás and, besides, he hasn’t given up on getting Sam. [¡Qué!]

Willy and Sam have to tell Jessica that her mother wanted her with D8D and the judge ordered it.

We see more training of the unusually attractive recruits at the Army base [Just for you, Hombre!]

Génesis and Violeta overheard Sam and Ángela talking about pregnancies. Génesis runs for the phone to call her dad.

I guess Nuñez is a real rat. He goes straight to D8D and tells him about El Jefe’s proof of whose baby Clara is expecting. D8D pays Nuñez to get that file.

Miggy shows up at D8D’s place, and D8D asks Nuñez to stay and protect him. Nuñez doesn’t stand a chance against Miggy, nor does the other guard outside. [Oh how I love to see D8D take a beating! And Miggy kicks his cane out from under him and decks him.] He tells him to tell Verdugo that HE has the map. Before he leaves, Miggy grabs up D8D and punches him in the stomach, saying it’s for old times sake.

JM assumes the baby is by Gus and tells Laura about it. Laura has some canary feathers around her mouth.

Miggy has given the stray pup, Cielo, to Génesis. He goes to the base and is refused permission to see Fabiola.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – Miércoles – Part 2

Gus notices the pregnancy test and tells her he doesn’t care if she’s expecting JM’s child. But Ángela says it was a false alarm.

Sammy is crying from sheer emotion and tells Willy she’s pregnant. They have a very joyful few minutes, but Sam is worried later about losing this baby. Willy says they have to think positively. She swears Willy to secrecy about the pregnancy, but he immediately blurts it out to Nic, Jessica and El Jefe. D8D is right behind these three, having come to pick up Jessica. He grins and offers fake congratulations.

Miggy has come to see Gus. He tells him he fell in love. He’s worried about Fabiola and says he’ll try to defeat El Verdugo for her.

El Jefe tells D8D they lost Samantha this time for sure. D8D says only death is sure.

About a dozen thugs show up to capture Miggy. He’s eventually subdued and handcuffed. We see Fabiola in the shower having the pain in her chest so beloved of telenovela writers, showing that she knows her man is in danger. The head of the thugs is Dingo or Ringo, whatever. I prefer Dingo. Fabiola faints in the shower. Uh oh. I know she’s worried about Miggy but fainting usually means only one thing.

El Jefe is getting drunk and telling his old buddy Nuñez he has decided not to keep quiet since he’s lost all chance at Sam. And he doesn’t want D8D to get his way. Uh oh. Nuñez calls D8D right away.

Miggy is strung up by Dingo. He tells him he has the map. He doesn’t want to talk to the clowns, but to the circus owner – El Verdugo.

El Jefe gets in his car and receives a text from Clara wanting to meet him.

Apparently weeks of hot and cold running thugs have finally made an impact on Clara. She tells D8D she’s worried about all the things happening in his house. And, for once, no sappy smile.

Gus is worried that Miggy isn’t returning his calls and decides to go look for him.

JM comes to congratulate Ángela about her pregnancy, looking anything but happy. More like petulant. She asks him where he got that idea. When he tells her, she says the girls misunderstood. She's not pregnant. She thought for a moment she might have been; but, if so, it would have been JM’s. Laura overhears this.

D8D shows up wearing a wig to look like Clara and gets into Esteban’s car.

We see lots of Miggy being tortured and then the lights go out where they have him. We see lots of those laser pointers on guns, shots, and guys falling down. They call out Miggy’s name. We see him unconscious, suspended by his wrists. And we see a brief shot of one of my favorite actor’s faces: Gregorio Pernia.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE –

thanks so much novelera !!!
you are so kind,
I'm still having technical difficulties, pixel parties and such, so double thanks.

I still think Angela has way to many kids for the amount of sex she has had.

I was thinking Miggy is getting too obsessed with Fabiola,
(oh yeah, a knock down on Bernie is always good)
he is letting his guard down,
when show up the bad guys,
wow, nipple shockers, ouch!

so he is taking on Verdugo,
to clear the way for Fabiola,
wow,
where do you find guys like this.

and DeRingo/ReDingo is dead ??,
so Alejandro is safe, that's good.

I didn't know who it was Jefe was supposed to meet,
but Bernie in a wig, wow, first prize for halloween horror,

so, did you see, Sin Senos no hay Paraiso, w/ Gregorio Pernia,
my first time with him,
but double first impressions w/ his role in Flor Salvaje,
he is so cool, would be neat to know him in person,
I have been meaning to ask, how was ojo por ojo?

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks for the usual great recap, Novelera.

This thing sure keeps moving.

It was great to see Miggy smack D8D around. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

So Clara might be getting a clue? It's about time.

It looks like it might be sayonara for El JefEEE.

Can we assume that Gregory Pernia's character will fall for Sam? Nice to have him on the show. He was so good in Flor Salvaje.

Who knew that there were women only army bases with all those babes training in low cut tank tops.

So are we to assume that Miggy was enduring all this torture so that he could get to see Verdugo in person? That seems to be what was going on. Didn't he and FF agree that they didn't care about the treasure.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Miércoles, Part 1

Pablo is so mad about Emilio’s school snub, he wants to kill the wife and mother of Ernesto, the PTA President (who also sold his house to Peluche). Gonzo says calm down. Let’s not just kill people. Let’s hurt them where they’ll REALLY feel it - in the pocketbook!

The DEA guys search the boat in which Pablo stashed one kilo. They find the kilo, and arrest the owner of the boat (whom I don’t recognize). But under the water, divers remove a HUGE package, where all the rest of the drugs were!

Chili reports back to Pablo, Piña died of a “stomach ache”. Pablo congratulates him on a job well done. By the way, your drug shipment came through (the one on the boat). Now that Chili and Topo are minor partners, Cain says he wants in, too. Nope, says Pablo, don’t even dream about it. Well, says Cain, how about Marino, he’s got that girlfriend Yesenia to support. Say what?! replies Pablo, his face darkening.

Cut to Marino and Yesenia in bed. She’s worried that his working for Pablo Escobar is dangerous, he should get out. Marino says not now. And no, I haven’t told him about us.

Pedro calls his friend Gildardo. Don’t worry about Escobar, he had to show his might, but I’m sure he’s done now. By the way, I’m coming down to your area for a deal, can I still count on your backing? Later, Gildardo meets with his adviser Luis, who says this is a golden opportunity, they should double cross Pedro, and get back at Pablo. Gildardo, as usual, is waffling.

Peluche pays Ernesto for his house in bags of bills, which Ernesto doesn’t count. Could this be hitting back with the pocketbook?

PABLO ESCOBAR Part 2

Pablo is playing soccer with Emilio. Emilo is a bit weak in sports (but is a good student), and Pablo tries to cheer him up. He tells him how he was punished a lot as a kid. It only made him tougher. What you really need is friends. So you’ll go to a new school. More schools, more friends. Emilio likes cars, has a model of a classic one.

Speaking of cars, we now follow Pedro Montoa, motoring down the highway in his Porsche. But the cops pull him over. They don’t fall for his fake ID. They don’t want his “mafia money”. He’s arrested. I guess Gildardo stopped waffling, and agreed with his advisor to turn Pedro in. Things continue to escalate.

Out in the country, Marino says to Pablo, hey boss, you want me to take care of that Mauricio Estrepo? Pablo responds, How’s Yesenia. Uh oh. Gulp. Well, boss, um, I’ve been meaning to tell you, um, well, you told me to watch her, and I just sort of couldn’t help falling in love. Are you two novios? No, of course not, squeaks out Marino. Pablo makes a gesture, and Chili and Topo take Marino’s gun, start hustling him away. Wait, wait. Just relax, they say.

Ernesto is on the highway when he’s pulled over. They steal his car, and show him a picture of his family. We later see the masked me are none other than Kiko and Pavon. Yes, that Ernesto may want to reconsider his decision about Emilio’s school choice.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Novelera, excellent recap!

Deb, El Jefe was supposed to meet Clara, who texted him. But I really think D8D did the texting, and posed as Clara (the wig). I'm not even sure Clara DOES have clue yet.

If FF's fainting meant she's pregnant, I wonder if she can just unenlist, and go back with Miggy, or has to stay in basic training (or at least in the army). It sure was strange (but nice) that every single person on that base was female!

Why was El Jefe talking out loud when composing and writing his texts? And why did he have to announce to D8D he was going to tell Willy and Sam the whole truth? Oh yeah, this is a novela. At least El Jefe did tell Sam he something really important to tell her, and it was something to do with Clara.

PABLO ESCOBAR - miércoles

Thanks, Hombre, for the usual excellent job.

It looks like Pablo planted the drugs in the toilet tank to divert attention from the huge cargo stashed under the ship and it was the ship's captain (and crew) that he sacrificed for the sake of the deal. And I was wrong -- apparently, Pablo really IS letting Chili and Topo in on a (small) piece of the action.

Do you really think Gildardo gave in to the pressure of his "advisor"? Or maybe the Cali bunch are just going over his head since they don't like his policy of appeasement? In any case, it always seems as if the least vile of the Medellín gang are the ones who get thrown to the wolves.

What a disappointment little Emilio is turning out to be -- good student, nice kid, wants friends, doesn't show a killer instinct. Where did Pablo go wrong?

PABLO ESCOBAR -

thanks so much Hombre !!!

I guess the people that were worried about the life Pablo Escobar being glamorized,
aren't so worried anymore,
wow, this guy, and the odd collection of people around him,
has really fallen off a cliff.

I didn't really get the boat thing, thanks NovelaMaven for your explanation.
So odd Pablo tries to live a normal family life,
where has his mom been,
I'd say he was ready for a good talking to, to get him back on track.

..........................................
some more real guy stuff (spoiler free) that I have come across,
if anyone is interested,

Peluche, in our story portraits this real guy,
"Roberto Escobar, the brother of Pablo Escobar"

"IN THE EARLY years, Roberto was not involved with the business. He was a national champion and the coach of Colombia's cycling team, before retiring to set up a bicycle factory. "By the time I had the factory, Pablo had gotten very involved in drug trafficking, and they started to come after our family. The first person they came after was me, even though I had nothing to do with drug trafficking. They took my wife and put her in prison." This, Roberto insists, is what led to his involvement with drug trafficking."

he went on to be "chief accountant of the Medellín cartel"

ref: http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/pursuedbyabear/2012/01/09/from-the-archives-an-interview-with-roberto-escobar/
(there are many spoilers in this interview, on Pablo's life, which we have not covered as yet)

he also wrote a book,
"The Accountant's Story: Inside the Violent World of the Medellín Cartel"
Hombre, if you are going to follow up on Pablo Escocar, you will most likely come across this book. I haven't read this but one of the reviews I've seen though was a comment that he tends to make Pablo look like the good guy.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - jueves - Part 1

The DEA guys release the unconscious Miggy. The head guy says that they got there too late and that’s too bad.

After her fainting spell, an officer tells FF that if she isn’t healthy, she will have to leave. FF replies that she wants to stay. The woman tells her that Miggy came looking for her but visits are not allowed.

The disguised D8D threatens El Jefe with a gun. Then he says that he wants to experience the pleasure of killing that the Reptile told him about. He shoots El Jefe. We see him walking back to his car and that there is a security camera in the parking lot.

Sam and Willy are celebrating her pregnancy but Sam tells Willy not to forget what el Jefe said about Lorena implanting other women with their embryos.

Miggy comes to. The DEA guy introduces himself as Javier Falcón. He says that he has been monitoring this place with hidden cameras since it has been used for drug operations. When they saw that Miggy was in danger, they aborted the operation and rescued him. I guess everyone who was in the place escaped - not a very good plan.

Javier asks Miggy what his relation to the drug operation was. Miggy replies that he has something that the narcos want and he has a personal score to settle with Verdugo.

I guess I was wrong that Clara is getting suspicious of D8D. She apologizes to D8D for questioning why D8D was dealing with shady folk. She says that she knows he wouldn’t do anything bad. D8D gives her a ring and asks if she would like to marry him the next day.

FF tells her army friend that she has survived terrible things and is tough but the worst thing that has happened to her is to fall in love.

Miggy refuses to go to the hospital and Javier brings him home.

Sam gets the call that el Jefe has been killed.

D8D takes the clothes he wore when shot el Jefe and burns them in the wastebasket of his house!!! First, they wouldn’t burn without some accelerant, they would just smolder. Second, what about the smoke alarms? What about cleaning people who might be surprised to find half burnt up clothes in the wastebasket?

Laura and JM are sitting in a car outside his house, I think. JM repeats that he wants to get Angie out of his life and Laura suggests that he forget Angie with her. They are kissing when up comes the Reptile in a blond wig and 6 inch heels and tries to kill them by shooting at the car with the gun D8D gave her for self protection. She misses and escapes but Laura sees that the shooter was a woman. Laura is furious with herself for being distracted and not doing her job of protecting JM.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - jueves - Part 2

Javier asks Miggy to work with him to capture Verdugo. Miggy agrees.

JM asks Duval if the Reptile is dead, who was the woman who tried to kill him?

Back at the hideout, the Reptile quizzes D8D about who the woman with JM was. D8D scolds her for trying to kill JM. He warns to do as he says or he won’t take her to Verdugo. He says that Verdugo will help her get what she wants.

FF has a dream that Miggy has come for her.

The police have a theory that JM was targeted because he killed a narco. Miggy pours cold water on that theory. He says that when he was captured by the narcos, they were not interested in JM.

Sam and Willy tell Nic that el Jefe has been murdered.

D8D brings Jessica to comfort Nic. He shows some concern when Gus tells everyone that the security camera in the parking lot got pictures of el Jefe’s killer.

Javier proposes to Miggy that they use FF’s map, go find the treasure and give the $$ to the Colombian government. Miggy is suspicious, how does Javier know about the map? Javier responds that they know all about FF’s father and the treasure. Javier shows Miggy photos of Ringo, Verdugo’s right hand man and Verdugo in a ridiculous mask like lucha libre fighters wear.

The Reptile gets a huge bouquet of flowers from Verdugo.

Laura tells JM that she wants to quit her bodyguarding duties because she screwed up and let her personal feelings interfere with her duty. JM asks her not to leave him.

Javier tells Miggy that the DEA is after a person who helps Verdugo with his business in the US - it’s D8D. [I guess the DEA isn’t keeping D8D under surveillance, bugging his offices or phones because he barely hides his activities.]

In his odious, smirky way, D8D tells Willy that he should be happy el Jefe is dead. He was a stone, no two stones in Willy’s shoe with his wife and son. He says that the killer did Willy a favor. Willy replies that he hated el Jefe but he didn’t want him or anyone dead.

Sam tells Gus that el Jefe called and told her that he had something important to tell her in person about Clara. D8D is sitting right there. Did he hear this?

Gracious D8D tells Sam that he is leaving Jessica with them for a while so she can be with Nic. He says that Clara and Bernardita have changed his life. Willy’s not buying this.

[Apparently el Jefe doesn’t merit a funeral scene.]

Miggy tells Javier that he doesn’t want the treasure and would love to give it to the Colombian government but the map doesn’t belong to him. It’s FF’s and she is in the army and is inaccessible. [He uses the English word - army - instead of the Spanish word for army - ejército.]

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - jueves - Part 3

FF is at shooting practice and she remembers the voice of someone telling her to beware of Verdugo. She needs more than a map to protect herself. She needs to know a secret about Verdugo that no one else knows.

Javier makes the rounds of the cast with his pictures of Ringo and Verdugo. He’s a pretty chatty guy for a government agent.

Sam & Willy go to the doctor. She confirms the pregnancy and says that if Sam is indeed three month pregnant, there is no danger that this is an ectopic pregnancy.

Rodrigo brings two wedding dresses from Rodeo Drive shops for Clara to choose from. Camilo arrives. When Clara tries to hit him for dissing D8D, he suggests that she kiss him instead.

Javier tells JM, Miggy and Angie that Verdugo is a chauvinist and only uses men to do his business. Who could have tried to kill JM? The Reptile is the obvious suspect but she is dead. “Apparently,” says JM. Will he follow up an make sure that it was the Reptile’s body in the van? Probably not.

Clara is modeling one her wedding dresses for D8D when Gus arrives and says that she has to come in for questioning about the murder of el Jefe. At the police station, Clara denies that she was in the parking garage. Her alibi about being with her father is in the hospital is confirmed.

We get a montage of FF’s nine weeks in boot camp indicating a time jump forward. Then we see Sam eating like crazy.

Nic thanks his family for their support. Apparently Jessie has gone back to live with D8D.

Gus thanks Angie for the best 9 weeks of his life. [I guess I was wrong about that too. Presumably, they are having sex since she is living with him.] JM shows up with Laura to get JC. Laura tells Angie that she isn’t JM’s police protection anymore. She is living with him as his pareja - significant other. It’s not clear if she has quit the police or just quit her assignment with JM.

D8D brings the Reptile to meet Verdugo, still in his silly mask.

FF leaves the army base and Miggy is waiting for her.

PABLO ESCOBAR Jueves, Part 1

I agree. They are certainly NOT glorifying Pablo Escobar. Tonight he sinks even lower.

Pedro Montoa is whisked away on a helicopter to prison. The new Minister of Justice tells the press he’ll be extradited, too. But later, he tells the President there’s a problem, and Pedro cannot be legally extradited. They need to get a judge to re-issue the order of capture, with an inclusion of extradition. And what judge would do this?

The Cali brothers (not including Gildardo) enter a warehouse, check out a older car, which they’re going to modify to have a bomb in it. Later, I see that Gildardo did not okay the double crossing of Pedro, as he was surprised by it. His brother Gerardo Correa, the one who got his face messed up by the bomb, was behind it. We see Gerardo talking on the satellite phone to Mauricio. Both guys want to hit Escobar. Mauricio counsels patience, saying they need to track Escobar’s movements. Apparently Pablo goes to something called the Monaco Building twice a month (I may have that wrong).

Gonzalo is talking to the Captain of the ship in Miami from the successful drug run. The Captain is a little upset his man got 5 years for that one kilo, but Gonzo says that’s the cost of doing business. He also says something about letting the gringos pay for everything (maybe the guys who were caught were Americans).

Cartel meeting. They boys lament this is the second time Pedro Montoa’s been picked up. His brothers talk about the lawyers they have, who will file all sorts of things to stop the extradition. Pablo says that’s fine, but he’s also going to keep up HIS way of dealing with things. There’ll be a “river of blood” before they extradite Pedro.

PABLO ESCOBAR Part 2

We know Emilio likes cars, so a couple of new cars arrive at the Escobar palace, and they’re all for Emilio. I think one of them might have been Ernesto’s. Pati thinks this is a little showy, giving a teenager cars, when there’s so much poverty. Ernesto calls, and Pati takes the call. He says sorry for the little glitch, in fact we decided that Emilio CAN attend our school. Too late, buddy, says Pati, we’re putting him in another school. And I don’t think you’re being ethical (that’s a good one!).

Gerardo’s bomb car is ready.

Pablo has written a letter to the press, from the Extraditables, threatening holy hell if they don’t honor the law, and dare to extradite Pedro Montoa.

Pablo talks to Marino, tied up in a chair. What about trust, young man? I was gonna tell you, boss! Tell me what? That you defied me? That you humiliated me? This girl is a danger to me. You know what I had to do to her. She could want revenge. Here’s your choice, Marino. Either you KILL Yesenia, or I kill YOU! Get on it. Marino just about pees in his pants.

Some guys with army troops visits Mariachi with a painting he wants to sell for $10 million. It’s some modern art. Mariachi isn’t impressed. The guy says the artist died in Europe, and dead artists are worth more than live ones. Unlike dead politicians, retorts Mariachi. Pablo enters, and Mariachi introduces this new guy, whose name is Miguel Moreno. He and his army guys are going to take care of our problems. (Aaaah! It never ends.)

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Jean, excellent work as usual. Right, JM said "apparently" Reptile was dead, but who's going to check? And I totally agree able D8D's clumsy disposal of the wig and outfit.

I liked when Violeta said to Angela, Mommy, since you're not married to JM, and you're not married to Gustavo, who was the father? Angela gets a little flustered, responds, no baby, no father. But the point is, do these people EVER consider getting married BEFORE having babies?

The nine week time skip was ridiculous. We forgot all about FF's fainting. And now that she's finished her basic training, Miguel will just take her away??? a) where to? b) isn't an army enlistment more than 9 weeks? And they didn't even show Clara and D8D's wedding, but they must be married, right?

Okay, I'm coming right out and saying it. I think El Verdugo is Javier. Why? Limited budget of the show for actors :)

CORAZON VALIENETE:

Hombre- That's the same theory I had. What's easier than to have the good guys just hand him the map since they think he's one of them. With all this time and money he has spent trying to get this treasure map, Verdugo could have sold enough drugs to make the same amount of money. Unless the map leads to the mythical El Dorado or the lost city of Atlantis.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Wonderful recap Jean!

Yay! El Jefe Esteban El Estalker is DEAD!!!! Good riddance.

CORAZON VALIENTE

Thanks so much for the great recap

Hombre, I think FF's fainting was a corazonada for Miggy.
"A donde soldado Arroyo?" I liked this simple ending scene. FF's smile was so sweet.
What a great comedian Manuel Mandeta is =D

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-

I did wonder whether Javier was a good guy or a bad guy. There seemed to be a funny vibe coming from him. But if he's Verdugo, he's wasted a lot of time trying to do his business with incompetent thugs if he could just have put on his DEA hat and walked off with what he wanted. But that's probably too logical.

And yes, Vivi, it's ridiculous that these narcos are trying to find this "treasure" when they usually have so much money from their business that they don't know what to do with it and bury it in pits and things. At least now they are suggesting (for the first time) that FF knows some secret about Verdugo in addition to having the treasure map.

That was a cute scene when Violeta was sort of asking where babies come from. And don't even get me started about telenovela couples who never even think about birth control before they have sex and then are so surprised when the woman gets pregnant.

I thought maybe FF had a leave from the army or a pass or whatever they call it. Usually you sign up for 2 years but usually there aren't separate training facilities for men and women, either.

PABLO ESCOBAR -- jueves

Oh boy, DOES Pablo sink lower than ever! And Pati retreats to ever greater levels of "Hear no evil, see no evil". Thanks again for a terrific recap, Hombre.

The Mónaco is the white high-rise that Pablo moved his family to when they had to move out of their ranch-like house just ahead of the army. Remember how Enelia and Pati joked about the name and Pablo's fixation of all things European (like Nápoles, for example)?

Who thinks Marino (whose REAL name is apparently JASON!) is going to save Yesenia? The thing is, even if he said "Kill me" it's almost certain that Escobar would end up killing him and Yesenia both. After all, if he is worried that Yesenia is a time-bomb now, she'd be even more dangerous after losing the "love of her life."

CORAZÓN VALIENTE:

Thanks for the recap!!!

I’m glad that El Jefe/EEE is gone, but his death was disappointing and nobody has found out about how he had Sam locked up in the mental hospital! (Well Nuñez might know..) He was just disposed of just like that without a proper downfall… I wish Nico had got to know the true nature of his skeevy adoptive father. He’d still be mourning, but at least it wouldn’t have seemed so undeserved.
Yeah, I really didn’t want to see a funeral where everyone acts as if he had been a good person. Bleh. I used to love to hate the character when he was plotting and scheming without being pathetic. The pointless wretch, who at times was watered down to a seemingly less evil person (although at least the viewers remember what the characters dismiss), needed to find his previous characterisation or just get off the screen. I’d have preferred for him to have more of a point, but at least now we can hopefully forget about him.
I guess the company he never worked at belongs to Nico then?

So… if Sam is three months pregnant (now 5 months) wouldn’t she have been pregnant during the incest storyline?? Unless of course more time has passed than has been shown.

Hmm.. I thought that Javier is Verdugo or somehow connected to him… but he seems to be about the same age as Miggy, so if he’s Verdugo, he was already a formidable force as a teenager.
Also yes, the treasure better be something good, if the narcos want it so badly. (or then there better be something else related to obtaining the map)

Okay... so Fabiola is officially an "Arroyo"? I really don't understand characters taking the name of people they never knew and disregarding the parent(s) who raised them. *shrugs*
