Por ella soy Eva capitulo #42 9/13/12: And the Oscar goes to... Plutarco Ramos Arrieta!

I apologize.  I forgot to change the recorder from the other night when Univision moved the show, so this will be just from memory.

Adriano is upset about the way Paola used him and wants to say goodbye to love.  Eva tells him love is the best thing in life- "you just have to see a woman not with your eyes but with your heart."  Adriano hears the pep talk and keeps grabbing her hands in gratitude and excitement, making Juan underneath nervous as he keeps pulling away from Adriano's grasp.  Eva talks up Mimi a bit to him.

Renato shows up again at Grupo Imperio and Lucia falls all over him [really, she is too desperate].  He says something about liking parades and she just LOVES parades. [isn't that a song?]  Helena expresses her concern to Lucia about Silvia's mysterious fall down the stairs and Lucia promises that tomorrow they'll get to the bottom of it.

There's a scene with Mimi and JC and I'm sorry, but they talk so fast and it seems to be so full of idiomatic Spanish that I don't often understand much of it.  I think it would be funny if I did understand it.

There's an extended scene in the home of Fernando and Marcela.  Marcela is working (as usual) and Fernando is bitching (as usual).  Jenny offers to help with dinner and Marcela talks about them being a team.  Jenny wants to have a new boyfriend come to dinner and Fernando says, "Another one?"  The boy is polite at the table but of course Fernando doesn't like him anyway.  There's a very brief scene on the street with the son, Kevin, giving money to some blond guy who has his back to the camera.  The implication is drugs, but it must be something else because the writers are setting that up to be too obvious.  Marcela and Fernando are in bed talking about the kids.  Fernando is saying something about Kevin being slow (lento) but Marcela says he's only fourteen.

Lalo's grades have been falling, but Helena says to Silvia [or was it the other way around?] that it makes sense with all the changes in the poor kid's life recently.  Helena asks Silvia again about her fall down the stairs all those years ago and Silvia again evades answering.  It was nothing.  I don't even remember it.  She scurries out of the room to put Lalo to bed leaving Helena looking confused and concerned.  Pluto calls Helena, distraught and threatening to do something crazy.  Helena says she'll be right over.

Adriano calls Eva to invite her out to further express his gratitude for all her wise counsel.  Eva talks Mimi, who's reluctant at first, into going with her.  Adriano is happy to see them both.  Mimi drinks like a truck driver while Eva gives her a look to take it easy.  There's some talk about them being from the North, which apparently explains their behavior.  The two end up in their usual chorus of excess about life being rose-colored and it raining flowers.

Ah, here we go.  Plutarco is just beside himself with grief and is clutching a picture of his beloved and recently departed wife.  You almost forget and feel sorry for him.  Helena of course does feel sorry for him and tries to console him, saying time will heal his wounds.  Pluto again talks about doing something desperate and convinces Helena to spend the night.  Eventually she falls asleep on the couch.  In the process of covering her with a blanket he lingers way too long, smelling her bare shoulder in a version of the pervert hug and he tells her she'll soon be completely his.  Oy vey.

Eva shows up at Helena's, and to avoid temptation spends the night on the couch.  Camil is the epitome of femininity as he takes off his heels, scratches himself, and lies down like a bull on steroids.  In the morning Eva goes to awaken Helena to discover she hasn't spent the night there.  When Helena arrives Eva goes into overdrive lecturing her.  Helena gets angry and tells Eva she is just friends with the Putz.  Helena is an adult and she doesn't need another mother.  She already has an overbearing father.

Speaking of whom, Bastardo isn't at all bothered by Helena being at Pluto's.  Silvia says she doesn't understand him- he gets all righteous about Helena going out, but he's happy to see her with someone who just lost his wife.

And that someone is home alone, dressed only in a towel, parading like a peacock in front of the mirror planning his next triumph.  Adriano calls to tell him that Antonia's will is to be read and the executor is none other than JC's father, Modesto.  Pluto feigns indifference to such things; he can only think about his grief, poor guy, but somehow he'll pull himself out of bed to come.  When Adriano hangs up Pluto is once again triumphant!

But...  uh oh, the avances show Eva being the recipient of Antonia's good will.

Thanks, Bill. Your recap was fine and funny, too.
Eva's one hard-working gal, helping everyone out. Pluto is a true slime ball, even if he was showing off his hotness in a towel. Hated his little smirk, too. Forget if it was because of Helena or his expected inheritance, but I so look forward to him NOT getting the shares of GI.

Thank you for the recap, Bill.

Toni disinherited her querido amado? When? Why?

Obviously she didn't have time to change her will after she caught him in bed with Rebecca. She's dressed nice in the video so it's not when she's in the hospital. She had her doubts about Pluto, but she always ended up believing him. And does she leave him penniless, or only give Eva the shares to GI, while the house etc. go to Pluto?

And with Eva as a co-owner of GI? This should get interesting! That means she/he will be above Pluto again. I'd imagine she won't be Helena's asst anymore, right? And now Helena has told Eva to get out of her apt and find somewhere else to live. It'll get much harder to stay close to Helena.

I just got this image. After the will is read, if Eva gets Toni's house, she marches in that very evening, suitcases in hand!

Thanks, Bill.

Antonia must have overheard some gossip in her time in the office. She would have had time to change her will then with the notion that she could always change it back if she was wrong. That may be what we find out tonight.

JC had better be careful about doing anything that looks like interference. He's going to end up distancing himself even more from Helena if he's not careful.

I'd love to see him get everything and evict Plutarco from the house. That will make Rebeca evict him from her bed and that should be funny.

"lies down like a bull on steroids". Yowza, what a line Ithabill.

Didn't watch last night, still in post-somethingorother-depression from Antonia's rapid exit from earth. But will get back in stride eventually. In the meantime, thanks for another great recap.

Thanks, Ithabill. I only catch this novela now and then. I didn't know that Antonia dies. Was she murdered ? It's the first show in which I am attracted to the villain. Mauricio C. with facial hair...caraycaray . Be still my foolish, foolish heart.

Thanks Ithabill -- pretty good recall to do this all from memory.

I don't think that Antonia's will has anything to do with sticking it to Plutarco by disinheriting him. I think that in her innocence and gratitude to Eva for all she has done for her she just wants to do something nice for Eva. I think that Pluto played his game so well that she thought that he had no interest in power. I bet she leaves all the goodies -- house, bank accts, jewels, maybe even some of the shares in the company to her (as far as she knew then) dear and loving husband. She probably thought that the one little thing she would leave to Eva would never be missed by Pluto.

You're right Urban Anthropologist. JC had better be careful how he pushes Helena. She's already told him/her to get a new place to live because Eva was butting in to her life & dissing Pluto. Incidentally, I loved the way Helena made fun of Eva's voice & mannerisms.

Thanks Bill for this wonderful, funny recap.

I'm with Paula about the will. How could she have changed it so quickly, and when could she have done it? I can't wait to see tonight how that happened. I hope she stuck it to Pluti.

Can't wait to find out tonight, what really happened to Silvia all those years ago. Maybe it will help Helena to get Lalito back from that horrid Bastardo.

I too liked the line of "lies down like a bull on steriods", lol. JC looked like a hot mess. It's sad they got into a fight when Helena came home. And now Eva has to move out.

Loved the dinner with Adri, Mimi and Eva. I couldn't understand the convo either, they either slurred, or talk to quickly but I bet it was funny.

So what is Kevin up to? I really hope it isn't drugs, even though that's what it looked like.

Pluti is really working the grief angle with Helena. I was waiting for lightening to strike him when he was holding Antonia's picture and crying on Helena's shoulder. And the sniffing. I wonder why the writers use this in TN's? I haven't seen it outside of a TN.

I don't get why Bastardo is ok with Helena seeing Pluti either, unless he thinks in the future he can get some evidence to get custody of Lalito.

I laughed when Pluti was dancing around in that towel thinking now he was going to be a king at G.I. Can't wait to see his face when that will is read. The video in the advances with Antonia looked good.

Weekend Alert

Due to low activity on the weekend discussions last week I will be taking a break from them for the next two weeks. There is a photo gallery I started working on but the photos I'm looking for are not as easy to find as I thought they would be.

Anyone else with an idea for a weekend discussion is free to post one for this weekend or next.

Have I mentioned that I love this show? I've got it bad! I'm getting to the point where I dread weekends because it means two days without the show!

I'm with you Paula. There are so many little bits of business that are fun to watch as well a varied plot lines. I too miss it on weekends.

I have an idea about Kevin. I think he's taking dance classes. (Billy Elliot anyone?) Long ago he mentioned that he didn't want to go out for the sport he did last year. Fernando was disappointed. I seem to remember some talk back then about an interest in dance. Now we have Fernando all worried because Jennifer has too many boyfriends but Kevin hasn't had even one yet. Marsela reminds him that Kevin is only 14 after all but Fernando thinks he "lento" as far as girls are concerned. I predict a big confrontation between them because Mr. Macho is going to assume things about Kevin and is going to be appalled.

Well, that's my prediction -- but I've been totally wrong about where this show was going several times already.

Thanks, Bill. I missed a lot of this last night (will watch the rest tonight, maybe) but did see Lucia drooling all over Renato. Did I hear him tell her that some men are still gentlemen? Maybe I'm too cynical, but I doubt that most true gentlemen promote themselves as such.

"I Love a Parade" - my father used to sing that all the time. Only those first four words, though!

So Pluto was threatening to do something desperate. Did it ever occur to Helena that Pluto should be spending more time with Adriano and not leaning on a particular female employee?

Also, if someone habitually threatens to do something desperate if you don't rush to their side immediately, then that person is either manipulating you, or is in much worse shape than you can really help them with on your own. Possibly both.

Güera - I think your theory about Kevin taking dancing lessons (or something similar) is probably right. I don't think he's doing anything bad, but he's definitely worried about getting caught. Dance class is one thing his father specifically wouldn't like!

Ithabill - fine recap. My favorite line: "dressed only in a towel, parading like a peacock in front of the mirror planning his next triumph." Pluto is no damn good but he sure is damn fine.

Looking forward to seeing how Antonia split things between Pluto and Eva. My guess is she changed her will after Eva talked her down from suicide by vitamins.

Güera - I hope it's dancing lessons. Fernando will have to come off his macho perch. If I'm remembering correctly there's been some allusion to Fernando not being good in sports when he was in school. A lot of his problem is insecurity.

Güera, I vote for your conclusion about Kevin.

I also agree with you that probably Toni left all the goodies to Pluto, and she left only the shares to Eva. Gratitude for friendship? Yes. But also because she now sees the importance of having a "woman" with some authority at GI. Was it Toni that told Eva that ever since she came, the women have had a better situation? If Toni is gone, she wants another woman to replace her. And who better than Eva to make sure the women's voice is heard?

Actually, was it the other way around - did Eva or maybe Marcela tell Toni that things were better at GI ever since she (Toni) came to work there? Before that, Toni wasn't involved in the business, but she's the one who gave Eva a chance at the beginning.

Oh, is that what it was? I guess I was close in a distant sort of way! Right pew, wrong church.

No, you may be right. Either way, though, she said more than once that Eva was her best friend and I think she said she didn't have any others. :-(

As for the timing of when she changed her will - perhaps it was just before Acapulco. The first thing she told Eva in Acapulco was that she wanted her to have a housekey. If she had just changed her will she'd be thinking about the keys around the same time.
