Refugio Para el Amor #118 Fri 9/21/12 Luci gets a scary eye popping gift, and an eye opener from Ma'Paz. Witches enjoy the prank, Marcial raids NFERNO, leaves cold handed.

Lo refrito:
  • Connie congrats Pato. Tells him his name = outstanding achiever… Mati asks Pato what he needed from fridge. Nothing, just wanted to open it, haven’t in a long time.
  • Gala fakes strong stomach pains, ends up managing for Rod to stay the night next to her bed, she smiles satisfied. He looks away like not really wanting to be there.
  • Don Aq and Vio arrive to her place, Magda runs out to prevent DonAq from sliming Vio all over. DonAq starts yelling at Magda, calls her a jealous freak. Magda says Don’t be silly! She is your daughter!!

Lo Nuevo:
Vio begs Magda to say it isn’t true. DonAq tells Magda she is just lying to prevent him from marrying Vio. Magda says don’t be silly, just do your math. DonAq continues to deny deny…
He says Magda is coming up with all that crap to mortify him as always.
Vio kicks Don Aq out of her place. Don Aq still on deny he could have a child with Magda, or of it being Vio. Threats Magda they will meet back in town and he accuse her of slander.

Vio confronts Magda because Magda did reprimend Vio for not telling her where she worked and now she comes with this?? You lied to me, you told me my father was dead, then that he was lost, it was very easy to keep quiet. Why, mother? Imagine how far we could have gone…
They both dread even thinking about it. Magda would never have forgiven herself. Vio resentful of her, that would have been no good. Her life would be ruined. She had the right to know who her father was, the right to live better, she would have forced him to respond for her. She would never have worked at NFERNO. Magda says she feels what she gave Vio was enough, did not want Vio to have any relationship with that man. Vio says you had no right to hide the truth. Magda agrees. But she has nothing to be ashamed of, Did not want Vio to be like her father, did not want Vio near him. When she realized the kind of man he was, it was too late. He always humiliated her, she feared he would do same with Vio. We made it through together. Vio says now I can decide if I want to be like my father or not. Right? Yes. You can do as you want now. You don’t need me anymore. Magda walks away sad. Vio cries hard.

Luci is at hotel room with Paz… Paz can’t sleep, thinking of Magda and Vio. They both hope Magda and Vio are well, it is a really tough blow. Similar story to what Luci went through. Luci says at least my father is nice, generous. But Don Aq… Luci is preparing papers for her meeting tomorrow with Namurachi and Pato. Paz finds the chance to let Luci know that Pato does not see Luci as a sister, he loves her as a man. Luci confused but does not deny it.

Morning…
Rodrigo is leaving for work. Gala nags him (what’s new?) that he should plan to eat breakfast and lunch with her instead of having meeting after meeting. HE says he will think about it. IF you feel bad call me. Ok? He heads out leaving her with the hunger to keep nagging. Gala calls Julie to be ready to accompany her somewhere.

Luci, Paz and Namurachi are having breakfast at hotel. I have to say I LOVE LOVE Luci’s outfit… sweet ivory lacy blouse, very ellegant and feminine, with royal blue skirt… breathtaking on her eyes!) Luci says good you had a good restful night because today will be a long work day. Paz wants them to drop her off at Vio’s to see how they spent the night.

Back at Vio’s, Magda made her breakfast, Vio walks slowly, looks very ashamed of how she barked at Magda last night. Magda is leaving today. Going home. Vio begs her not to go. Magda kisses her on forehead and heads out but Vio won’t let her. I love you very much and I need you! You said it well last night, we only have each other and have to be together.  Magda asks want us together because we are lonely? Vio says no, Want us to stay together because I love you! I respect you, I admire you. You are my example/model. I need you. Please forgive me.  I promise I will never barge at you ever again. I have no right. Don’t think I don’t feel proud of you. Please forgive me. (they cry hugging) My Chiquita, my nina!

Outside the hotel driveway, Gala calls a candy vendor on the curb and asks him if he wants to earn an easy 100 pesos. He gladly accepts.

At Vio’s, Paz arrives. Everything will be alright. Vio looks tired, sad. Paz asks her how she is. Vio says sad, have no choice but to go on. Paz goes on to see Magda. Vio tells Luci look the surprise I got. Luci worried, wants to know how she can help Vio. Vio says no one can help me. Thinking of DonAq as my father makes my stomach twist. Luci asks how did he take it? He denied it, accused my mom of making it up. Don’t even want to think of him anymore, but can’t stop it. I close my eyes and can feel him stuck here in my head and heart. Luci asks again how can she help. Vio says nothing, don’t worry. Will stay with mom here today. Luci says I have to go meet with Namurachi and Pato but will be back to check on you. Call me if you need me. I will come back in any case. Vio says don’t worry about me. Thanks.

The candy guy delivers a gift box for ‘Luciana Jacinto’ at the hotel reception.

At TL offices, Mushashon has Ariche in office, Ariche is enjoying it as if it were a new play room. The ball I gave you!! You better take care of it, because my abuelito gave it to me. Rod says it is his favorite. Ariche is confused, now doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up, a pilot or someone like you(businessman). Rod says what matters is that you study hard and put a good effort so you can be whatever you want. (funny how Ariche sticks out because his clothes are a very orange bright shot of color in gray background. Rod loves the visit though.) Gala spoils the moment with her entrance, immediately looks at Ariche as if he were an alien, calls him Escuincle asking Rod who he is. Ariche says his name and that he is friends with Mushashon Rod. Gala turns her back on him and ignores him. Wants Rod to go with her to eat and then buy things for the baby. Ariche asks if she is talking about Luci’s baby. Gala keeps with her annoying attitude and even gestures that Ariche’s voice is bothering her ears (as if too screechy). I love Ariche’s tone and attitude as if he were an adult responding to Gala. Ariche tells Gala Luci sent the plane for them to come visit her. Gala asks Ariche where Luci is. Rod has heard / seen enough, drags Gala out. And we see another play of the usual argument. ‘the simple mention of Luci’ mortifies her, her baby’s health is his responsibility… yada yada… (leaves in a huff, Rod again stands there mortified)

At TL offices, Namurachi (her official title is promotora de cultura [culture promoter]), Luci, Pato and Oscar are meeting. Namurachi tells Pato about the skill of the women of the towns up north. But due to lack of resources and the duties as housewives, they end up having to sell their craft cheap because they can’t spend the time to promote their work properly. Pato is excited/inspired in his interest to help. He introduces Oscar, a great aid to help set it up.

Magda tells Paz how VIo reacted, that she was resentful at first and barked at her, but then apologized. Paz says you both are very strong, not even this buckles the love you have for each other. That man, you don’t need him. Magda agrees and thanks her. I never had a sister, but if God had sent me one, wouldn’t have been as good as you. Paz blushes..

At police station, boss puts pressure on Marcial that he has 24 hrs left to show his results. Marcial grabs her bullet proof vest. But Aldo and Lastra are already cleaning up the operations room at NFerno.[ I am afraid Marcial will be left empty-handed due to his big mouth.] Lastra and Aldo are almost done cleaning up per instructions from Maximino.

Night falls…
Aldo is with Vicky at some other night club. Vicky finds it strange he did not take her to NFERNO. Aldo says he did not feel like going to NFERNO and he did not want to make her dad mad. Aldo says for now he and Max are associates. Once I get enough money from my uncle, then we will see. They toast.

At TL manor…
Max comes in bedroom and RE is again reading… (‘Las Virtudes de San Agustin’ (or stte)). Max wants to talk to find an end to their problems. All saintly, perfect RE says the problem is only on you, you have to put an end to your sin, to your adultery. I am giving you a chance to straighten up before it is too late. (with that she leaves him to meditate on her lecture).

Luci, Namurachi and Claudio are having dinner… it was a long day. They talk about Pato, and his motivation and energy. Claudio says Pato is different than Max, even than Rod. He likes Pato’s character and business ethics. Namurachi asks what chance does Pato have to walk again. Luci says not much, but Claudio seems to be more optimistic, Says Pato has enough drive to make it. Luci looks away, looks concerned about what Paz said about Pato.

At packed-house NFERNO, Marcial arrives with the police raid. Only Ivan is around and when asked by Marcial, denies even knowing Lastra. Polo is held too and says he has not seen Lastra. Ivan yells at him not to be SOPLON. Marcial enters the Operations room, but everything is gone, just wires on wall, desk turned over, a big mess of papers on floor.

At hotel, Luciana gets the gift at reception. She gets to her room and opens the box (card says a gift for the mom to be). It is a nasty looking doll head with empty eye sockets and it scares the air out of Luci. (phew! I thought it would be a snake or scorpion or stte).

Luci scrambles to close the box but is so nervous she just spreads the doll and everything around the floor. She is almost breathless of fear…

At Gala’s, Gala and Julie are enjoyin the small victory. Carola is there too, I think she is a friend of Julie’s we have seen before. Fernanda and Valentina think Gala went a bit too far, what if the baby was lost? Gala says that would solve our problems. Carola says ‘no wonder they say that ocio(boredom) is the mother of all vices’. Vale has a little advice for Gala (I wouldn’t bother, Vale) ‘don’t do onto others what you would not want them to do to you’. Gala nags that Luci too HER Rodrigo knowing he was HER fiancée. Vale smartly points that Gala already HAS Rod, he is HER husband. Again Julie comments Vale seems more friend of the ‘chacha’ than Gala’s. Gala mocks Vale’s IQ, or maybe she is sleepy (la ardilla no le esta caminando = the squirrel/hamster is no longer running in the hamster wheel). Vale gives up and starts her exit. Fernanda follows Vale out. Carola throws one more comment that Vale and Fer did not like Gala/Julie laughing on Luci’s expense. Gala says it is just the beginning.

Lastra calls Max, ‘mission accomplished, Boss!’. They are counting on Ivan not singing since they paid him a bundle. Max orders Lastra to stay hidden a few days until cops chill out. Aldo enters Max’s room tapping himself in the back that they did an impeccable job. Max sarcastically congratulates Aldo on showing the ‘casta’.

At cop offices, Marcial is getting chewed by boss. Marcial says someone must have leaked. They can’t even hold Ivan behind bars, there is no charge on him and he does not even know the owner’s name. Boss is sure Lastra is far away by now. Lastra at hotel room is telling himself he can’t go without having one last try with Ofelia. Recalls giving her flowers.

Namurachi tries to calm down Luci. Do you think it was that woman, Gala? Not sure, maybe her, or her mother or RE. Namurachi says they must be very ugly spirited abnoxious people. Luci questions why they are doing this to her, they have everything! Namu reminds her they have everything but love. She has to tell someone. Her dad or Pato or someone so they can help protect her. Those people could keep hurting you. Don’t worry, you are safe here.

At TL manor, Rod is visiting Pato and Janah. Pato tells them about the meeting with Luci and Namurachi. They talk about Luci being the same Luci even now that she has money. Most people change, but Luci is helping the women in her town. Rod says Luci is authentic, she will never change her essence. Pato admires her. Rod regrets not having valued her enough. He will have Luci in his mind and in his heart until the day he dies. Pato says Luci will find a man who will offer his life to her, who will accompany her, who will protect her, who will love her deeply. She will go on her way and you will with yours. Brother, you have to learn to live with that. Rod agrees, puts resigned face.

Luci is having nightmares of Gala and RE showing her to the newborn room, with the doll in it one of the cribs and telling her it is her baby and that it is dead, they laugh in her face. Luci awakes, holds her belly and tells her baby nothing will happen to you. I promise.

Previews: RE gets card for a Psychiatrist from Connie… says this way I will be able to get close to Luci.  Gala ready to give Luci a final blow, but Rod and Luci are at cafeteria at TL building and Rod is telling Luci he still loves her. Gala shows up…

Good work, and thanks for posting this so quickly.

There is no possibility of redemption for Gala now. She has earned her one-way ticket to the deepest pit in hell. I think Luci should go back north until the baby is born. I think she needs a bodyguard and a restraining order.

There were a couple of ominous hints of things to come in this episode. I found that scene of the hens sitting around and laughing about trying to scare a pregnant woman repugnant. Even Val who isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer warned Gala who of course ignores her and as is her specialty put her down. No matter how many mean girls I've ever known I've never seen that kind of viciousness.

I'm glad that Luci now has one more fighter in her corner with Namu and I hope she blabs to either Claudio or Pato about what happened since we know Luci won't. I do have to wonder how Gageme found out where Luci was staying.

I'm kind of sorry Paz spilled the beans to Luci about Pato's feeling because it is obviously making her uncomfortable around him which is too bad. She needs some vocal defenders around her who aren't intimidated by Rosa and Gagme like Rod is.

Loved little Ariche and his dignity in the face of a rude cow. One more person who isn't cowed by Gagme and her nastiness unlike her cojones free Rod. Why he puts up with her is beyond me. We don't know what was in the infamous marriage contract but obviously Gage had a clause inserted that says I will never give you a divorce and i can make your life hell as long as i want and you can't do diddly about it.

Like the rapprochement between Vi and her mom. I really would hate to see the woman go back to Het Het and have to cope with the nastiness Don A threatened. Vi may have longed for a father but sometimes you're better off not knowing. Can't wait to see what happens when the bride-less Don A returns home.

I wonder how long it will be before Marcial figures out who might have tipped off Lastra. Unfortunately I think he might blame Vi and ignore the dolt Aldo.

Have come to the conclusion that Max is a masochist, there is no other excuse for why he stays around letting St. Rosa berate him and turn their house into a war zone. I know love is blind but must it also be stupid. Oh wait this is Novelaland. LOL

Marta-wonderful,detailed recap. I agree with Urban- Gala gets no redemption. How could she do that to poor Luci? I know she hates her but she went wayyy too far. Loved how Ferni and especially Valentina walked out. Love Valentina and how she always says it like it is. Yes, Marta that is Carolla the one that parties with Julie all the time. She is Julie's best friend. I too like the way she thought Gala went too far.

Liked Namaruchi's advice to Luci. She is one wise woman.

I just knew Claudio and Pato would get along they are very much alike. I'm with Claudio about Pato's recovery, look how far he's come already.

It was par for the course with Don A. I really thought he would at least think about it, but calling Magda a liar is so uncouth. I am really hoping he sees the error of his ways. What a difference it was when Paz told Luci about her Papa and Magda having to tell Vio about hers. I am glad Magda and Vio have worked it out though. I think they will be much closer now.

So Marcial finally raided Inferno and came up with squat. Aldo really saved Max's bacon though. So I wonder if Inferno will be closed and if it is, Vio and Serena and Polo are all out of a job. And what about Marcial's job? Can't wait to see how this turns out.

And Rod the Bod, he has said that about Luci all the time. I don't think Luci can move on though. She is like her Papa Claudio and her Mama Paz. Once you have the great love of your life, that's it. We'll have to see if she meets someone else, but to me she seems like a one man woman.

Oh, and agree with you Decie Girl about Ariche. He is one tough little guy and I loved the way he kept telling Gagme his name and he acted way more civilized than she did. She has no manners and is a dunce.

Thank you for the detailed recap, Marta, so enjoyable and I was puzzled about some of the scenes until you translated. That hamster remark had completely escaped me. You cannot believe how badly the English ccs were scrambled; I changed to Spanish, was able to get a lot of it, but when someone really gets excited and starts talking really fast I miss a lot.

DecieGirl: Right, they keep all the wrong secrets and spill on Pato's feelings for Luci, which has now spoiled the open and affectionate relationship they had.

Is Luci going to tell anyone about the doll? She should actually be reporting all of it to the police to start a paper trail in case something happens, but lets face it, the TN police always seem incompetent. I
agree with Urban, not only should she go back North she needs a bodyguard.

Luci is too stupidly saintly to report this and Gala was smart to make the nasty phone call from Rod's cell so she can deny having done it. She has also kept their face to face encounters relatively private so there are no eyewitnesses who will rat her out. She is as coldly calculating as her mother and much more intelligent. I wouldn't put it past her to say that Rod is stalking Luci.

Thanks so much SuperMarta. This was a disturbing episode but you handled it with your usual light touch as well as giving us wonderful detailed renderings of the conversations.

That awful doll's head gave me nightmares last night. We're getting into a part of the story that I know I'm going to find terribly upsetting.

Gala has crossed into criminality. She appears eager to join the Torreslanda crime family.

This would be a great TN to break the mold and have CL give Luci a 280 pound, gun toten' body guard that would have been available to go see Gagme and return the doll head.

Dang fine recap, too.

Wonderful Marta, as always. Not the happiest of episodes, events seem to be getting darker. But there are always a few lovely little moments to help, thankfully.

I almost wanted to take a punch at Vio last night when she first went after Magda when learning the truth. But, as it again does, this TN shows how the Het Het family and friends put love over money, and come to realize, albeit the hard way, what is important.

On the other hand, we have the upstanding members of the community who, as Namu wonderfully points out, have everything but love. And unfortunately think bullying and manipulation can get you that. Grill Teeth is the poster child for that attitude, and now with the total support of her equally corrupt and greedy mother, is playing mind games with Luce. I so loved how her "friends" were repulsed by her antics. I hope it stays that way. They should quit the magazine too--leave her with noone but her mother for "support". (ANd would love for Val to spill the beans to her boyfriend--forgot which one she dates).

I didn't mind Paz telling Luce about Pato, but I don't know that it was a suprise to her. And if anything, she may start thinking of whether moving on with someone else who loves and respects her may be a way to get out from under the abuse she is getting. The more the witches plot, perhaps the more she may look to Pato as her rescue. Just thinking...

Luce is just too nice--though I applauded her telling Rod about the phone call, even though Namu knows about the doll's head, she needs to get that info out to CL, Pato, even Rod again. If it was me, I would have marched into work, pulled CL and Rod into a meeting and presented him with the "gift" with a "three guesses who we think sent me this?" But then noone has ever thought of me as "sweet" when you endanger my kids, and Luce's child is the one really being threatened here.

Funny how Ariche can stand up better and prouder to GT. Rod could take some lessons. ( GT sticking out her tongue at the little guy--yeah, whose the adult in the room?)

Can the cops fire Lemon Sucker since the raid was a failure? Now everyone knows he was the mole. Make him go away. So what happens to Nferno--would they reopen? I really hate the place, but it would put some of our gang out of jobs and I don't want that either. Maybe Luce can hire them all for her business?

Didn't Max say they would reopen as soon as the heat dies down. Of course now everyone is out of work and maybe Vi can consider letting Luci find her something other than serving drinks and her questionable singing.

I know that Luci had a pretty good feeling about how Pato felt but spelling it out in black and white makes her uneasy. She doesn't want to hurt him, she loves him like a brother and she isn't one to lead a guy on. to be fair to him she has to lay it on the line which she probably isn't callable of doing at this point.

Not being as nice as Luci i might have considered regifting but then again unlike Luci Gagme would make a gigantic so just reporting it to Claudio and Pato would be enough. Forget Rod he hasn't got the spine to stand up to Gala and tell her to cut it out. In any event she'd just deny and claim Luci was crazy.

Which reminds me of novela I saw where the MIL set out to make the pregnant girl crazy, putting crosses in her bed and moving things around in the house. Actually worked and said victim was soon in the manicomio. I don't think that is Gagme & Co's plan they just want to force a miscarriage. They should be careful because often what you wish for someone else boomerangs.

Thanks Martha for this very important episode. I choked on the scene between Magda and Vio. This is why I love to watch TNs, every now and then they show classic examples of humanity. By the way, I have the very same experience as Emarie. I don't know Spanish conversation very well but I read and write in Spanish fairly well. I rely on the Spanish recaps, but since I discovered the English ccs, I use them but somehow, they get so crazy mixed up especially in the first 20 minutes or so, I end up reverting to spanish ccs.this is why I go to the recaps and blogs so there will be nothing lost in the translation. I also noticed in all the tns, when the characters get excited they do rapid talks that I fail to understand what they are jabbering about. So bottom line, I thank all the recappers for their job well done!!! Oh, and lastly, I hate most of all Gagme. I hope she gets the worst karma of them all.

Thank you once again Super Marta.

It seems as though things are starting to move over to the dark side. I don't like it one bit. Luci is too sweet to be put through the evil and darkness that is fast approaching. I just hope that team good will be strong enough to stand up against team evil. We all know that they will---but at what cost?
the gringo

Marta - Fine recap. Thanks for all the details.

I hope Luci does tell somebody. She's noble and strong and all, but this is disturbing her calm and is about her baby's wellbeing. Luci, talk.

Rod's in a stupid position of his own making, but I think he's putting up with Gala's crap because he's afraid arguing with her will cause those fake cramps to turn into a miscarriage or something. I do think he has cojones, but he's putting the baby first. After the baby's born, he should divorce her and get sole custody. That dollbaby's head in a box is enough to make any family court judge realize Gala's unfit.

Martaivett--Thank you for your accuracy and humor, especially as this episode is the beginnig of darker things to come (not a spoiler, just logic).

The gift Luci received is not for nothing in the writers' minds. It has to be the first in several--actually the phone call was first. There are no brakes on Gala, especially with Mama holding Gala's foot to the accelerator.

I caught Luci looking at Pato several times during the meeting, after she got the low-down from Paz on Pato's feelings. I think Luci was trying to figure out if Paz had it right or not and if she did, it certainly was going to change her relationship with him, ITA, making it more uncomfortable for her.

I wish the Inferno (I finally saw the sign on the emergency exit doors) story line would go away, too, but Max has to pay for all his sins and this is one of them, so we'll have to bear with it for awhile. About our recently unemployed folks from there, maybe the boys could take Polo on as the 3d bike for the Taco enterprise. I can't see Vio working at TL, except to serve coffee and lean waaay over. Maybe she can help Estelita make tacos???

Decie--There are two novelas that come to mind where a mother-figure tried to mess with a daughter's mind. One was Barbara/Aurora in MEPS and the other was Malvina/Maria Mercedes in Maria Mercedes [with an early version of Arturo Peniche], although neither is exactly what you described.
Anita

Anita

I was keeping it brief but it was Maria Mercedes, which was my first full time novela. Fell in love with Arturo and have been a big fan ever since. Malvina was a piece of work wasn't she. That dirt cross in the bed, was so over the top. There again you had a moron galan. But she got the ending i'm hoping for for La Loca. To this day i can't get over her wishing one of her grandchildren would die (actually i think she hoped both twins would ). It is also a kick when you think that Malvina and maria were played by sisters.

Great recap, thanks.

It is now official, Gagme is now the first the line for burning at the stake! I would be willing provide a very slow burning fuel. I want her to feel the entire experience. Julie and Rosa can be next.

I love Pato, he deserves something and someone wonderful.

Rosemary Primera

I was so hoping Luci would get angry instead of upset at that doll head. Maybe she could show up to one of Rosalena's happy family dinners and deposit it on the table for them to explain. Or have it fingerprinted and try to prove who sent it. Something to make me feel better about the whole thing!

Maybe now she can consider going back up to Het Het. But on the plus side, Valentina and even Juli's friend are NOT on board with the evil scheming. Maybe Valentina will spill to whichever boy is hers and Rod will find out that way. It may be the thing to finally tell the shrew that this stops now, and that if she loses her baby it's her own dang fault.

She's just like Rosalena. Everything is someone else's fault. If Gala isn't careful, she's going to end up with her own personal alter begging God to make things go her way or else. Or maybe they can get a room in the manicomio together. Fun times!

Kelly

Thanks Martai, I so appreciate the recap. It's always so good and so helpful.

Not much to add to all the wonderful comments that flesh out the action so much. It will be ironic if Luci doesn't report the head to someone since she just yesterday reflected on the ill consequences of keeping secrets.

Pato and Namurachi? At least someone has appeared (now that she is in DF) who might be paired with him so he won't be stuck with Rosalena.

Don Aquiles has disappointed me (so far) but I think I've come to expect that, in novelaland, when children are finally reunited with parents, hearts are flung open, angels of goodness sprinkle blessings from above and there's new found love all around. I'm still giving him and Vio a chance.

I too think that Valentina will somehow ... either through conscience or plain dumbness ... blow the whistle on Gala.

Muchas gracias Marta!

I just watched my recording, and I am glad I didn't see the episode last night before bed, instead of the bright light of day. I would have probably had nightmares like Luci. That doll head was creepy! It's too early yet to know what Luci is going to do about it. She wasn't going to call Pato or her dad up in the middle of the night. I am glad that she called Namurachi though. We'll have to see what she does the next day when she sees her mom and dad.

I am also glad Gala's and Julie's amigas disapprove, but none of them ever did approve of the bitchy crap Gala and Julie have pulled on Luci. It still doesn't spur them to tell anyone (Rod, Gabe or Marcos) about it or do anything about it. I want to see one of them take action one day.

I don't think what Paz told Luci wasn't new to her. It just confirmed something Luci has suspected for while. I also hope that it doesn't change the way she interacts with Pato, but it's good that she's aware.

I'm so glad that Vio and Magda have gotten through this revelation with their relationship intact. Even before their reconciliation the next morning, I knew Vio couldn't stay mad at her mom for long. When she was throwing Aquiles out of her place, her last words to him were a threat if he dares to threaten/harm/insult her mother. Clearly, she still felt protective of her mother, even while she was so mad at her.

Please let this be the end of Marcial. Although I would have loved to see Lastra and Max behind bars, it was actually more satisfying to see Lemon Face FAIL!!

Correction: I don't think what Paz told Luci was new to her...

Great comments, everyone. I forgot to mention earlier that it's clear why they picked Socorro Bonilla as Magda. I didn't like her much in the early episodes, but she's been growing on me. Last night's performance was out of the ballpark great and Aleida was a perfect match. I'm glad their reconciliation went as well as it did. Neither of them deserved any lingering amargura, since they will both have to face Don A back in Het Het and to have a united front is el maximo.
Anita

I just read all late day comments on the Thursday recap. I am just shocked how people on other blogs could hate Pato! Why?! How?! I just don't get it.

Marta thanks for your recap!

While I hope Luci tells her father, mother and Pato, I'm afraid UA is right; she'll be saintly and say nothing.

Vivi - I came across Pato-haters on other site also. It baffled me b/c while he character is good, he's not perfect (though he is to me; he's probably the best TN male character I've seen in my TN watching). It's always amazing to me how people can read characters completely opposite one another.

How anyone can hate Pato is mystifying; but in the last TN I was watching/blogging there were daily blogger(s) that hated one of the good guy characters-to the point of obsession, I thought.
It takes all kinds I guess, but I am just glad that Caray Caray doesn't allow spoilers and generally has a great bunch of not only recappers but commenters that makes it enjoyable. This is a story after all.

I use to read some of those "other" blogs too Vivi, and always found that the obsession with certain male characters had everything to do with how cute or hot they were versus the actual character they were playing. The guy could be the biggest lunkhead and they somehow excused everything he did and really came down with the hate on any male character that just might be smarter, kinder, etc. Plus I think some park the bus when it comes to realizing they are just watching a TN--hello, it's a show! So I stopped reading them to stop my beanie from imploding.

The blessed thing about Caray is that we PAY ATTENTION TO THE ACTUAL PLOT, and that's what we base our comments and humor on, especially the humor.

Face it, poor Pato is no muscle man with over-sized muscles and ripped abs ( yet). But I would prefer him any day over our galan.

Daisynjay, Karen and Emarie- Even more reasons why I love this site. Daisynjay, you said it perfectly!

And I wouldn't say poor Pato. He may be in love with someone who will never love him that way, but he lives his life to the fullest and is probably one of the happiest characters in the tn. The writers are definitely sending a message. I am so gald he got past the "poor me, I'm paralyzed" phase fairly quickly. But not so quickly that it was unbelievable. And he still has a ways to go to learning that he DOES have a lot to offer any woman. Hopefully the writers will give him that opportunity.

I too found myself irked over the years on other sites with the obsession over the look, lack there of and clothes that permeate other sites even one that I was almost a founding member of. They don't start off that way but evolve with the people who participate. I enjoy discussing the plot points, the character development more then dropping in leaving spoilers and splitting to ruin thing for others.

Despite what the haters think Pato is not a one note character. He may love his brothers ex wife but he not mooing over her to the exclsuion of everything else. He is concerned about his mother and her obvious mental problems, he worries about his sister and is to all intents and purposes the voice of reason for the whole family.

One of the best things about this story is that many of the characters have several dimensions to them, some more obviously like Max while others Gagme, Julie, La Loca are closer to the novela stereotypes - jealous ex, scheming mother and over the top nuts. Mercifully because there are more dimensioned characters we don't get the feeling we are stuck in in a tedious train wreck like a few other novelas I could mention. Because the characters are interesting we are invested in them and what happens to them and will miss them when they are goin instead of thinking thank God that mess is over.

Oops that should be mooning mot mooing. Thought i had checked but that one got away from me.

And that should be mis them when they are gone not goin

Just coming in and out to comment that I saw the episode shown in México last friday. I haven't been able to see much at all of this novela because of its timeslot and my busy schedule but, even without knowing much about what was going on I still got all misty eyed. That doesn't happen to me much anymore with novelas. Such a shame that I've been missing it. Zuria Vega has grown alot as an actress.

Jarocha

Jarocha- Always good to hear from you and to hear when you like a show we like. I'm glad you stuck to your grad school studies instead of watching Refugio in the afternoons. :)

Thanks for words of encouragement about the rest of this tn, jarocha. i was beginning to worry given some 'avances' i peeked into in youtube and also the downspiral that Abismo has taken the last few weeks. But if you say the ending is at least watchable, i will stick with that one too.
not even planning to watch Mejia's version of LHDM... can't even conceive anything good from that.

That is the problem is you see or hear something about a show you are watching. They really can be spoilers. I even stopped watching albeit not taping Refugio when i accidentally learned something that has yet to happen. I hated it and thought the show was going off the rails, then I heard something the other day that also bugged me. I refuse to comment until said things happen and am avoiding a lot of sites to avoid ruining the remaining two months. It just beats me why people want to spoil something for others. Even nice comments an be spoilers.

I quit Abismo early on, there was a lot of talent but it sure wasn't showing and it was all just to much. In my mind ever since it has been call Abismal and since it is still filming it looks like it will gone on for God knows how long.

While i'm dying of curiosity to see how Refugio plays out i know I'm going to miss it like crazy when it is over and that doesn't happen with a lot of novelas.

I know it has ended in Mexico and that has me so depressed. I feel like a total loser, but I am going to miss these charachters so much! Any one else feel this way?
