Abismo de pasión #152 10/23/12: In which Elisa gets a house, Horacio gets a hand, and the blue-eyed demons get naked.
Labels: abismo
Did anyone notice how the Final date changed from Nov 2 to the 5th?
So what is going to happen with Pal and Gael and do we care anymore?
I thought Lola got divorced from Horacio when he was in jail. No?
Lucio was so cute when he was pouting about being alone now that Elisa bought the house.
Your part about the cheer had me laughing out loud. Honestly that fight for your man stuff is so pathetic.
There still seems to be a lot of loose ends to tie up, I hope they don't try to do it in the 2 hour finale. I hate it when they do that.
I thought this was a pivotal episode. We now see there is no hope of Ingrid magically reappearing. Now that Horacio heard Gabino's summary of where the tickets are, will he put two and two together to redig the grave? Those tickets are the only definitive proof of Estefania's innocence.
Gael is beyond pathetic. I love how Elisa is cold shouldering him and basically telling him to "get". You mean nothing to me. Bye bye.
Yes, Elisa should not be rejoicing in her deception of Carmina. She should be very afraid. Has she learned nothing??
I'm glad Alfie now knows the tickets were fake. I think this will give credence to Horacio's future claim as to who murdered Lupe.
Kidnapping Lolita? More angst.
I can't wait for Gabino and Carmina to meet their fates. Can't happen too quickly.
Diana
I FFWD-> most of the rehash stuff last night and struggled to stay awake during this episode. Only Horacio finding the grave held my attention. Finally some new action.
Double BubbleHeads...
Carmina cuts herself on her own sharp tongue
Two minutes later
Thank you!
I really am stunned that Horacio found a hand. I DID think Ingrid would show up, if only to remind Gael to open the dam present.
Speaking of ewwwwww...thanks for the tripus translation of guts and innard. We can now retort "que se muerade entripados" with confidence.
Rosemary la Otra
Novela Maven, loved the title and loved the recap from beginning to end. The Citrus is really losing it if she thinks attempting to seduce Damian is a good idea. She doesn't react well to rejection. Does she really think he'll want to squeeze her rotten fruit?
Favorite scene: when the "normally phlegmatic Enrique" threw the soup about Carmina boinking Daddy Doc while she was still married. Woo hoo! That shut her Pumpkin Piehole right quick.
Sabine did such a great job self-destructing on her way out of the house that I almost felt sorry for her...until I reminded myself she is evil incarnate. Great acting there if not just a touch over the top. But hey, that's why I like these shows.
And Horacio discovered Ingrid's hand. Yikes!! This episode set the ball rolling on some interesting actions. That little snake Tonia. I take back all the nice things I've ever said about her. Oh wait, I guess I never have.
Thanks NM, I loved your succinct yet snarkalicious style and your scathingly brilliant descriptions. Double Bubbleheads, Grumpy Lyin' Hound Dog Gael, Blubbering Bathos...snort!!
yes they were fooling around with the finale date, as they were switching back and forth saying ultimas semanas vs ultimos capitulos last weekend.
so... Gael seems to be holding on to secret gifts, secret envelopes/folders... but he is too self-centered right this moment trying to make life miserable for everyne around him to remember any of that...
now Horacio has a little secret and I doubt Alfie will tell anyone about the 'fake' plane tickets... other than really start worrying that if Gabino took such care to give her 'fake' tickets, that SHOULD only mean the name on the original ticket was NOT Estefania's. So we might see her go through some emotional roller coasters...
Interesting if the previews you mentioned are correct. Gab is ratting out his sweetie-pie? no honor among theives in this town is there?
I'm sure the finale date is getting moved because of all the debates, soccer and what not that keep interrupting the time slot.
"Flo...not exactly Switzerland here."
Carmina cuts herself on her own sharp tongue
bandanaHanded human emetic [Gabino]
there's a full moon out, we should be ready for anything...
and about a gazillion more.(sorry, hands tired from raking ten million gazillion leaves)
I just couldn't get interested last night, bailed early, but you certainly made it sound a lot more interesting and sexy than it was. Good for you Bad Girl!
That dress Carmina wore to the closing, and moving out . . . good thing she did not ask anyone if it made her look fat or her day would have just gotten worse. eek.
Doubtful that Alfie would want anyone to know the tickets were fake, because then she might have to fess up how much money she paid for those.
It's about time someone smacked Chente upside the head. I've been saying that all along and waiting for it to happen.
I was THIS CLOSE to changing the channel a few times. There were just some things almost too crazy...and stupid to watch. The first time was when Gael was trying to convince Elisa that she still wants to be with him. Elisa should've busted out with that Taylor Swift song. The second was when Carmina walked in on Elisa and Enrique and when Damian saw it all too.
I'm thinking Flo is looking fairly good on her road to redemption. Maybe she should become a marriage/relationship counselor. She was the one that started the whole thing but I'm sure she didn't expect DamFine to kidnap Elisa.
I don't understand why Alfie wants a PI to find Horacio. She knows he's in LaE. I wonder what her real intentions are? So Horacio found Ingrid's body...It's about time someone did. I loved the scene when he almost attacked Gab and Carmina. Hilarious!
One final thing about this episode. Does Carmina really think she can seduce DamFine?
--TF
Let's hope this TN is streeetched out due to the debates, etc. as I just can't take any more filler. What would they do? Show us Ringlet's hand yesterday, up to her elbow today, then tomorrow the shoulder? How far can they drag out the unearthing of one mujer?
And how the heck did that earring get way up there? Was she using it as a little shovel from below?
That was so funny when Carmina agreed that being with Gab was pathetic!!!
Since we seem to be in agreement that Orange-Ho will get hers eventually, how wonderfully fitting it would be for the Great Pumpkin to get smashed on Halloween!
Anyway, Gael might be pond scum, but he sure cleans up good. Love the new 'do.
TF- Well, if Camina thought she could seduce Padre Lupe, then yes, she does have the gall to think she can seduce Dam. Of course, when Lupe rejected her he ended up with a knife in the back, so I hope Dam has some quick swimming skills.
Now back to business...TF, I think Carmina believes she is irresistible. So far only Padre L has completely rejected her. She killed him of course. Oh, and when Augusto rejected her she shot him too (granted, he was physically abusing her at the time). ITA with Vivi, Dam had better be a dam good swimmer.
Pasofino, Gael does look better doesn't he? Now if only he would wipe that scowl off his face. I want the cute, sweet Gael back.
R la O, the Great Pumpkin getting smashed on Halloween...I love it!!
- We never get to see the actual mud wrestling because the secretary interrupts them
- Once Carmina is gone, Elisa and Carito squeal like a couple of quinceañeras
- In the Blue House of Shame, Horacio lies in the dark and plays with his revolver
- La Ermita lets a lot of things slide but it does frown on streaking.
...and the winner:
- The whole place has an "Ingrid was here" kind of vibe
¡¡Jajá!!
LOL! Indeed!!
last night i was watching The Voice and they had a Joan Jett song 'I hate myself for loving you' and thought about a few characters here that could be singing that song in particular... beginning with Carmina (singing it to Augie after remembering so many bitter moments with him) Elisa, Gael, even Gabino if he is indeed infatuated with Alfonsina ...
I'm becoming obsessed with Gabino's handkerchief hand. What is the wrap for? Someone pointed out that he was wearing it before the invernadero fire. I originally thought it was an affectation but when he was in the hospital for his head injury the bandana was replaced with a real bandage for awhile. Does it get laundered from time to time? Does he have more than one? I hope my questions get answered before this wraps up.
For a moment last night when Carmina was reminiscing about shooting Augusto that she might shoot Gabino... glad she didn't.
Paloma cracked me up pleading with Elisa to hook up for real with Dam so she could hang on to Gael. Can she get any more pitiful? I'm guessing the answer is yes.
Carlos
The most annoying thing about the Paloma/Gael issue is in one breath Paloma tells Gael the she knows that he still loves Elisa, and then in the next breath she asks him what's wrong, why can't he love her? And this conversation happens in every episode.
Carlos, I have always wondered about the bandanahand too. I wonder if that actor has a tattoo he's covering that some viewers would find offensive or maybe has the name of a female who isn't on this show. It has to be covering something up.
And you ask can Paloma get more pitiful? She could wear an Elisa wig and clothes and try to look more like her. Now that would be more pitiful.
About all the mismatched lovers -- I'm most impressed by how very conservative this novela is. It looks like it's going to end somewhere very close to its starting point. Two "royal" families still ascendent, four young people dancing a quadrille who will sort themselves out into partners, villains who declared themselves from day one and will hang on until the last anvil falls, and outsiders like the Landucci family and Ingrid and Kenia who keep the plot moving and then are disposed of, never breaking into the inner circle. (Flor is a Landucci, true, but Enrique is also something of an outsider in La Ermita.)
The other night Mr. Maven and I went to see an amazing production of The Taming of the Shrew. I was struck by the way the plot relies on the arrival of two outsiders, Lucentio and Petruchio, to upset the status quo, oust the boring suitors and yes, tame the "shrew". Lucentio and Petruchio would have ended up as road kill in La Ermita, I suspect.
Lolita stopped her divorce proceedings after she was told that Horacio was dead. It's unclear whether the annulment of the boda religiosa had been completed. (Not that it matters. Does anyone expect Horacio to survive?)
Diana:
I agree that this was a pivotal episode. (I almost named the recap "The turning of the worms"). May I say that I particularly appreciate all your comments. You are the kind of generous and careful reader that every writer hopes is out there. Thank you so much.
Karen:
I like your choice of the word "madcap" to describe these last episodes. I guess creating crazy last-minute crises builds ratings, huh?
Doris:
Feel free to doze during the show as long as we still get to see you on the Patio and you're willing to share the occasional zinger with us.
R la O:
Yes, "que se muera de entripados" is a keeper. It reminds me of some old Yiddish curses. :)
P.S. I love your new avatar.
Marta, Thanks for reminding us the Gloomy Gael is still sitting on a couple of unexploded bombs: Rosendo's will and Ingrid's wedding gift. (Let's hope the writers don't forget the wedding gift. Hey, It happens.
Daisynjay, It certainly is very halloweenish. As R la O put it, it would be great to see the Great Pumpkin smashed on halloween.
JudyB, I am so honored that you read the recap even when you can't bear to watch the show. I'm not sure how I feel about you outing me as a Back Row Bad Girl. (Not many people know that.) :)
Hey TF, as other people have said, if Carmina tried to hit on Lupe, she must be seriously deluded about her universal appeal. So why not Dam Fine? It IS worrisome though because in Carminese, "to flirt" is defined as "1. to seduce; 2. to murder, especially when one's seductive overtures have been rejected."
"Elisa get back together with Damian FOR REALZ so Gael will leave you alone. Do for me, eh?"
Gael followed and SPIED Elisa & Damian playing tonsil hockey in Merida and is still manhandling Elisa in the workplace, telling her he wants to dump Paloma & get back together with her.
I just don't see how Gael will fall in love with Paloma in the next week. He's just not that into you.
"Gael might be pond scum, but he sure cleans up good."
Ain't it the truth? jejeje
Vivi, I agree. Let's hope Dam has kept his cenote survival badge up to date.
Carlos, I fear we will never learn why Gabino wears a bandana on his hand. I suspect it is the kind of inside joke that keeps people going during 16 hour work days in a place as hot as central Texas in mid-July.
"bam bam bam format"? Really?
Blue Lass, I'm so glad you're out there. I count on you and JudyB to find the stealth bombs. Thanks.
Anon207, I also find it hard to imagine Gael falling for Paloma. I'm perfectly happy to sacrifice Gael (say in some heroic rescue scheme) to keep the plot moving along. Then Paloma could be a respectable (and wealthy) widow raising her child alone. And perhaps Enrique could come a-courting ...
Hilarious recap - especially all the rotten citrus and emetic parts.
Lolita has been wearing some knockout embroidered traditional blouses lately. Last Friday's black number with good and white embroidery was stunning and super elegant. Last night's was just as elaborate even though in muted pastels.
Chente started with a hand bandana soon after learning that Gabino was his sperm donor.
Blue Lass, how selfless of you to undertake a search like that -- and all in the service of truth!
'Twas a fine recap, Missy. I am out all day but I want to say 'Thanks', and tell you how much I appreciate you.
Sorry I couldn't hang out on the Patio today. See you all tomorrow.
Great work, NM.
Tu amiga,
EJ
*Oh, sorry, R la O, no more for you tonight ... or maybe you'd like a nice cup of tea. (It's ok. Begoña is in Guadalajara and she has nothing whatsoever to do with the beverages served on the Patio.)
--TF
Braulio complained to Rosendo that the La Anita truck was broke down. Rosendo gave money to Gabino to buy a new La Anita truck. Gabino bought a used truck, had it painted to look like it was new and pocketed the money.
Braulio was driving the truck but it broke down and I think he was in an accident.
EJ, so glad you are back. And thank you for letting me drink your share of the Mai Tai pitchers while you were gone, hic.
