Por ella soy Eva #55 10/2/12: In which Pluto is compared to Bambi.

  • Eva, horrified that Helena's on the other side of the door, throws his/her voice deeply and invents a mysterious male visitor, desperately stalling. Helena, who's come to apologize, is amused and curious when a bit later Eva comes out holding her robe tightly closed around her neck and clutching a pair of men's pants

"You never tell me about YOUR life, Eva." "I'm timid about these things." "Is that guy your boyfriend?" "Of course not! I'm still in morning." Eva admits to being a meddler. Helena: "But you're a great person! Still - don't meddle." Helena smiles hugely.

  • At a nice restaurant, Mimi and Adri talk about Eva, Mimi can't seem to get Adri to concentrate on her fine assets although he does say: "I like you, you have a good sense of humor." She tells him she inherited the pension she manages.

Adri: "I always thought women should be in the house or in the bed, they shouldn't have power. They were born to embellish and we men were born to govern." "You think like somebody from the 14th century."

JC later explains to Mimi: Adri sees women as objects because he's neer been in love. "You and he are water and oil, find somebody else."

  • Marcela and Fer have clearly had good sex and are very happy. They tell each other they've never been unfaithful. All is cozy until Fer lets slip that "Candy Suite" was indeed a prostitute but not for him - for their son Kevin! Marcela is furious. Marcela: "It's normal he's not interested in girls right now, leave him alone. Respect his sentiments."

Meanwhile Kevin has slicked back his hair, bought flowers, and gone to visit - is it that very prostitute? She thinks he's adorable. He's in lurve.

  • JC/Eva was invited to his mom's house for the night: it's her wedding anniversary but her husband (JC's dad) is on a trip. Eva arrives with flowers and treats. "How did you know my favorites?!" Eugenia says it's not the first time she spent her anniversary alone. "Your husband, pardon me, he's a cro-magnon." "It's ok. But that's why I invited you!"

Eugenia tells Eva she loved being in telenovelas and films. Eva showers her with compliments. Eugenia says of her son: "He inherited my talent (and my histrionic nature) but his dad feared he would become soft and feminine. He educated Juan Carlos to be a "man" ---" It's sad. Eva says, "Let's have a great friendship."

  • Finally Lalo is packed. Silvia tells him, "Leave some games for when you come to see us." Dad glowers. Plutarco shows up to drive. Helena is not so happy her dad called Pluto and she'd rather have taken a taxi. She feels in debt again. (Later Eduardo sulks in the quiet house. Silvia says: "Children are lent to us. We had eight years with him." Later still she warns him: "You're working too much, you need to rest more. He tells her to go away.)

At the new place we see that Pluto has brought Lalo a satin soccer ball. He simpers to Helena, "Your happiness is enough for me!"

Pluto's phone rings, he pretends it's Adriano but it's really Rebecca, she wants a corporate meeting in the jacuzzi. "You're starting to remind me of the whale," he snarls. She wants an expensive engagement ring and tells the air: "I have only put up with you for what you could give me." He tells the air: "You'll have to wait, Rebeca, because I only want to marry Helena."

Undeterred, Rebeca barges in to his house unannounced saying "Mohammed has come to the mountain." She attacks him. She wants to remodel the house and she wants sex. He says he's tired. She wants to awaken his beast. He yields but evidently does not do his best work. "You were like Bambi, not a beast. I wanted something more savage." They fight.

  • Eva brings the cd with data she swiped from Pluto to work. It's encrypted and JC is no computer whiz. Felix (who I believe is the one who did the dirty work for Pluto and probably encrypted the cd) comes in, smitten with Eva and ready to do her bidding, but she smacks him and sends him away.

  • Mousse boy sorts notebooks for the meeting, Lucia comes in to flirt, he ignores her until she tempts him thus: "I have lunch with Helena and other important people from the company." That interests him. In the bathroom he heard men gossiping about Juan Carlos, the money fraud and the stolen project.

  • There is a tiresome board meeting during which the men get lectured for interrupting and talking over the women. Also Helena says the PR department (Rebeca) screwed up badly by not inviting Playa Majagua locals to some social event they had. And then the meeting's over and, of course, Eva's precious espionage cd gets mixed in with Playa Majagua cds and Rebeca ends up with it. Smarter than Eva, she calls Felix to tell him to come help her with it.

  • There's going to be a convention in Los Vegas. (Thanks for the typo correction Madelaine.) In the past Juan Carlos with his stooges represented Grupo Imperio there. Marcela would like to go. But Adriano says he's going this year, and he invites Eva to go with him: "I don't want to go alone."

Did anything actually important happen at the board meeting?

Melinama thank you for this wonderful quick recap. This epi was really funny. Loved Marcela and Fern, they were having such a good time, until Candy Sweet came up, lol. I don't blame Marcela for being angry. Kevin is only fourteen or fifteen.

Adri doesn't have a clue about Mimi. The poor thing has it bad for Adri. I am hoping he notices.

Loved Eva/JC with his mom Eugenia. I'm surprised she doesn't see thru his disguise as Eva. They had such a great time, and I like what she said about how JC had talent when he was little. He sure is using that talent now.

Can't stand Rebeca. Being rude to Helena in the meeting, hated the guys looking like there was going to be a cat fight, and also constantly interrupting. I wonder what Rebeca will do with that CD if it gets unenycrypted by Felix, who indeed encrypted it for Pluti. Will he run to Pluti and tell him Rebeca has that CD?

Glad Helena and Eva made up. It would have been bad if they had stopped talking to each other.

Renato sure was nosy about the Playa project. I really think he must be some sort of spy, he was ignoring Lucia until she brought up the project and how they stole it from Helena. Renato didn't know that, and the wheels seemed to be spinning in his head.

I think the meeting isn't in LA it's in Las Vegas, at least that is what I thought I heard.

The meeting I think had to do with starting construction on the project there and to keep the locals informed at all stages. The only person the locals liked was Helena. When Pluti came there before they basically ran him off. I think that's why Rebeca was so ticked off, cause the locals told Helena they would like to be informed on every step of the project since it is supposed to be environmentaly friendly and Rebeca didn't invite the locals.

Thanks for the recap, CHF.

Renato seemed the most interested in the topic of Juan Carlos. What could his angle be on that?

Interesting twist. Rebecca is very close to turning against Pluto (we knew the day would come), and now she probably has strong evidence against him. She may not realize it, but according to the previews, Pluto sure does! This could certainly go 100 different directions.

When Eugenia told the story of Juan Carlos, she was also telling the story of the other JC, Jaime Camil. She said:
* my husband distanced me from my son (when Camil's parents divorced when he was around 4, he stayed with his father in Mexico, and his mother lived in Brazil).
* From childhood he had a great talent (Camil always wanted to be a singer like his mother, and as a child he'd pretend he had a microphone and was singing for an audience).
* He inherited my dramatic vein (Camil always says he got his talent through the umbilical cord, but also his bigger-than-life "dramatic" personality is just like his mother's, though hers is even more-so).
* He studied tourism instead of being an artist (Jaime Sr. required Jaime Jr. to study business, and it wasn't until a rather dramatic meeting that Jaime Jr. was able to quit business and pursue his passion).

Thanks for the recap Melinama. From your re-telling I'm going to try and find some time to watch the episode. Sounded really good. Given Plutarcho's harsh reaction (or non-reaction) to Rebecca, I guess we must assume his love for Helena is for realz.

One more thing about the Eva/Eugenia visit. Speaking of Modesto, Eugenia began uncomforably and haltingly, "He's had... " but then she closes quickly, "... things to do." I think what she struggled with saying was, "Tenía una amante." On top of that, she also said he's been gone for many anniversaries.

Thanks Melinama!

I'm also glad that Helena made up with Eva, and that Eva's "nephew" Juan Carlos was easily explained away as being Eva's sometimes lover. I guess Juan Carlos is a common enough name to not arouse suspicion.

I really wonder what Rebe will do with the disc discovery. She's a loose cannon.

Still can't figure out Renato's game either.

I hope Marcela does not easily forgive Fer for taking their 14 (!) year old son to a prostitute. Of course, he's opened up quite the genie bottle now that Kevin has fallen in "love" with Candy Sweet. Poor kid. But he is really sweet.

Thanks for the recap, Melinama. I continue to be amazed that this TN keeps moving ahead and sticking to business.

I hate that Eva's CD was lost in the shuffle at the end of the meeting. We need to see what's on it.

Thanks, Chapel Hill Fiddler!

As usual, things are happening on this TN. Nice that it keeps us guessing.

I'm not sure why Mimi is interested in Adriano unless she just sees him as a challenge.

I LOVE that the subtitles call the prostitute "Candy Suite." - blog mom

Thanks; great recap!

Poor Bambi. That face he made was funny when she called him that. I also crack up when she talks about playing "Finding Nemo" in the Jacuzzi. It there no children's story she can't smut up?

How can you solve a problem like Fernando? I really don't see how Marcela can fix their marriage. I don't think he'll ever be the sort of guy she deserves, so even if he acts more tolerable she'll still be settling. Taking their 14-year-old son to a prostitute...that isn't a one-time little error; it's indicative of some seriously flawed judgment and major difference in values. I didn't really care for their romance preceding that blowup, either. I think a clichéd "romantic" gesture like roses is a shabby substitute for actually paying attention and listening to her, like she wanted. He walked right out in the middle of a conversation when she was upset and trying to talk to her to get them! Ugh.

I think my jaw hit the floor when Kevin showed up outside Candy's door. Then I thought, "well, maybe he wants to apologize for his dad's awful behavior and thank her for being kind to him." But he's actually into her? Qué qué what?!

Thanks, Melinama (and thanks Ezra, sorry I missed commenting yesterday).

Perhaps Renato is just a very ambitious kid who is looking to hitch his star to the right wagon.

I wasn't impressed with Fernando's reaction to Marcela either - taking off to fetch the flowers, I mean. But then, I didn't think rose petals would be the answer when Marcela tried them, either.

Oh, Kevin going to see Candy? I think he feels like now he has something to prove. Not sure whether he needs to prove it to himself or his father or both, but the kid is probably heartbroken thinking that he's a total disappointment to his father no matter what he does.

One of the writers either hates Disney or loves it WAY too much, for all the defiling of its characters.

So which ones are Helena and JC/Eva? Beauty and the Beast? Mimi and Adriano are Lady and the Tramp. (She still has more class than he does). Lucia, sad to say, has to be a step-sister from Cinderella with all her desperation to get hitched, poor girl.

I think Helena and JC/Eva have more of a Jasmine/Aladdin thing going on. But I haven't seen any Disney movies in forever, so don't remember them well.
