Por ella soy Eva #73 10/26/12: Helena Has Many Visitors But The Only One That Counts Is JC; Rebeca Gets The Intel From The USB
I am doing this recap from memory again, so if I leave anything out, please fill in, also this is not in any order.
JC is in the chapel praying for Helena. It is pretty funny cause it is like a conversation between JC and Dios. He asks Dios to look after Helena and to be sure she recovers. JC is still in the doctor's scrubs with the mask off his face as he has this little convo. In comes Silvia to pray for Helena and out goes JC putting the mask back on his face.
Eugenia is talking to the doctor in the rest home, I like that better than manicomio jus' sayin, and Eugenia I swear, says a couple of lines from Corazon Salvaje (Ed Note: the actress that plays Eugenia, Helena Rojo, was actually the evil Leonarda Montes de Oca in the Corazon Salvaje of 2009) and Eugenia also quotes part of the soliliquiy of Hamlet, in to be or not to be. The doctor is pleased she knows all this stuff from memory and no she doesn't have Alzheimers. The doc asks her why she insists her son is still alive when clearly he is dead. Eugenia says not dead, alive he is just away and is kind of pretending he is someone else, the doctor looks at her funny.
On the way back to Helena's room, JC stops by the nurse's station and gets an update from one of the nurses on Helena's condition. She is doing well. JC continues on to Helena's room. He goes in, sits on the bed, and tells her she's got to live, for Lalito, for her Mama, for him. He kisses her sleeping cheek and he starts to leave when Helena wakes up and asks are you alive???
Silvia and Bad Dad in the waiting room. He is still being a jerk, won't go in to see his daughter. Pluti is there too, and the doctor comes out and gives them an update, Helena is doing well, the tumor was non cancerous and she will completely recover. They are all happy. Pluti thanks the doctor as does Silvia cause Pluti says Helena is very important to him and of course Bad Dad tells Pluti you marry her you need to control her! What a Bastardo!
Back to Helena's room, she is really knocked out from her operation, from the anathesia and is groggy. She says but your dead, no I'm alive he says. Well she is kinda mad at him. You tricked me, he swears he couldn't tell her he was alive, he had to pretend to be dead, but has always been near her. Then she thinks she died and is with him. He assures her she is very much alive. They are both alive and he loves her very much. She is still groggy, but calms down and he tells her he loves her still and moves in for the big kiss, and they have this wonderful romantic moment, when they start to kiss, and there is a chamber orchestra behind them, dressed in white, all women by the way, and there is a white light in the room, and the music plays as they kiss for quite some time. Lovely romantic moment, but these things have to come to and end, and so it does. Helena is so happy JC is alive and she loves him still too. She starts to fall back asleep and they tell each other they love each other, and JC goes to leave when her doctor comes in. Helena has fallen back asleep and the doctor is talking to JC who kinda of nods and then he scoots outta there, still in the doctor's scrubs.
Mimi and Adri have come to the hospital, cause Adri is lookin' for Eva, doncha know, since Helena and Eva are BFF's, and since Mimi has Eva's phone, they assume Eva is at the hospital. JC on his way out, almost runs into them. Mimi and Adri stop by to talk to Silvia who says that Helena is doing well, but will be on bed rest for at least three days. They doc told that to them earlier. Adri says no worries, she can recuperate at her pace but has Eva been by, no they haven't seen her and Pluti is rolling his eyes. Just at this point Mimi's phone rings and it's JC calling from a pay phone. Mimi says oh, its the Queen of Rome, lol. Anyhoo, Mimi tells him she has Eva's phone, and Adri is trying to snatch the phone from Mimi, so Mimi warns JC she is giving the phone to Adri, and now JC has to do Eva, dressed as himself and in public to boot, lol. Eva claims she's got a little cough and can't be near recovering, sick people, cough, cough, but she might be by later. Adri reminds Eva he is there with Mimi, you know the one that wants me body and soul, ok, he didn't say that, but you get the drift. Eva is like yeah, yeah. lol.
Rebeca has that USB and is wondering what the hey is on it and does it contain something Pluti did she can nail him with. She has flashbacks of Pluti almost saying he was involved in the fraud against G.I. before he caught himself. So she is wondering what the hey maybe there is proof on this USB. Renato comes in with some paperwork for the Playa project and kinda tells her one day, I'll be where you are, and she is like, yeah right, sure, sure barrio boy, dream on and now leave me alone already. He calls her Guapita, lol and goes, she gives him the stink eye. Finally, alone she puts that USB drive in her computer and gets, wait for it, almost an address book of the stars, lol. She is flabbergasted and it all has to do with Eugenia Mistral. Rebeca wonders why Pluti would have this info from JC's mama. She even googles Eugenia Mistral and gets her movie and telenovela profile. She is flabbergasted! But she is gonna find out what is going on, so she searches for a home number for Eugenia. She calls Eugenia's house and gets Chepina the maid. Rebeca is pretending she is from a magazine that actually is in publication, Telenovela y Series, I think and says she wants to interview Eugenia. Chepina tells her sorry, she is on vacation, and Rebeca tries to suss out where she went, what London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles please tell me, I will treat her as the great actress and star she is. But Chepina doesn't give her the info, lol. Rebeca says she'll get back with her and hangs up.
Onesimo brings that wine in a bag and a bag of what looks like food, from that intimate dinner and Pluti wonders who is trying to kill him and he thinks it is Onesimo, lol. Onesimo is indignant, he has worked for Pluti for years and wouldn't go that way, and Pluti knows that USB is missing too. Onesimo and Pluti almost have the same thought about who may have done it, Rebeca. They never said it aloud.
Fern, Santi and Marcela are in their office and Santi is giving them the lowdown on what happened with Angelica and the misunderstanding about Mousse Boy Renato. Marcela is the only one working again as Santi goes on and on, and then Renato comes in and Santi apologizes for what happened the other day. Renato kind of accepts his apology and Renato is almost directly behind the door. Well Jackie, the Evalette comes in and gives the chisme bout Renato and Lucia being caught together sleeping this morning and Renato hears it all, lol . Jackie is highly embarrassed and goes.
Modesto meets with Eugenia's doctor and asks how she is doing. Well, the doc says she is doing better, in fact she is sane, but is still insisting JC is alive. Modesto tells the doc they were very close and she still hasn't accepted the fact that JC is dead. So the doc tells Modesto what would really help Eugenia is for her to get back to her world of acting, and her friends in the bidness. Modesto so doesn't like the idea, but the doc tells him this is the best thing for Eugenia, to be back in her world. Modesto's hamster wheels look like they are turning.
Back to the hospital. Silvia is really pithed at Mad Dad, so what else is new? She wants him to go in to see Helena, why did he come here, if he doesn't care about Helena anyway? And also Helena and no woman should be controlled. When was the last time you ate ,she asks? He doesn't want anything, fine says Silvia she is getting coffee and she goes. He's pithed. Sometime later Bad Dad does an unusual thing, he goes to Helena's room. Helena is still groggy and thinks it's JC come back, but it's Bad Dad. He has brought her, wait for it, a bouquet of nice flowers and asks Helena what he should do with them, and he brought them for her, and how is she doin? She says she's good, thanks him for the flowers and says I think, that he used to treat her as a princess until she was nine years old, and then after that he was Bad Dad, what happened, she wants to know? This was a strange exchange. He just wants to put the flowers in something and doesn't really answer her. She thanks him for coming and he ends up putting the flowers on the dresser, I think and then goes. Once outside the room he actually has a half smile on his face and his face has softened alot, who knew?
Marcela, Fern, and the kids are getting ready to go, but Marcela I think has to be there earlier than Fern, she wants the car keys and he can take a cab, but oh, noes, he doesn't give her the keys, she can take the cab, boss lady. So Marcela is fed up with him and says she'll catch a cab. Fern wants her to call a cab and wait for it, but she is really pithed and says no, I will get a street cab, and turns to the kids and says, If anything happens to me, remember I loved you, and she goes. (Ed note: See Paula's explaination about Mexico City Cabs in the comments, thanks Paula). The kids are so not happy with Fern who evidently I think, is taking them to school.
JC has made it back to the pension and Mimi has too, and she is giving JC what for by going to the hospital as himself, he could have been caught and then where would he be. JC is only half listening to Mimi chewing him out and he tells her he saw Helena and told her he is alive. Say what, says Mimi! You risked everything you have done so far, doncha know. Oh, wait says Mimi, how many meds was Helena on, when you talked to her and kissed her. Mimi doesn't think Helena will remember anything cause she was on all those meds for pain, but JC insists he will just go back and talk to her again and tell her again he is alive. Mimi says what kind of proof have you gotten so far, that you didn't commit this fraud and do you really think, once Helena is in her right mind, she'll beleive you? JC says no proof, but doesn't matter we love each other. Mimi doesn't want him going back there as himself, too risky and besides he could go as Eva to see her. JC agrees for now, but he wants Helena to know the truth already! In comes Adri to the front desk of the pension, and encounters Christian, Eva's nephew and he wants to know where Eva is. Christian is a little slow on the uptake and Adri starts bellowing for his Eva Maria, lol. I mean he bellows pretty loudly. JC is still himself and rolls his eyes and Adri is threatening to come upstairs to see Eva, so Mimi tells JC to put on the Eva, while she stalls Adri, lol. Mimi goes and JC is pithed he has to get back in the Eva getup.
Pluti is back at the office, staring at that pic of Helena he's so obsessive over, what a jerk! There is a knock on the office door and Pluti has to put the pic down, sucks to be Pluti, and in comes Felix. I didn't catch what he told Pluti, maybe something about the USB.
Silvia has come in to see Helena and Helena is so happy to see her Mama. Helena is still kinda groggy but not as much as she was before. Silvia asks her how the visit with Mad Dad was and Helena says fine and then Silvia brings up the fact Pluti has been there the whole time, lookin out for her, stalking her, ooppps sorry, caring about her and he acts like a man extremely in lurrrvvve, listen Helena, listen to your heart, it isn't Pluti you want. Jus' sayin'. Well Helena tells Silvia that's all well and good but I gotta have a talk with Pluti once I'm outta here. Silvia is starting to get worried and Helena says JC is alive and I love him. Shocked face of Silvia as we end the epi.

Eva goes to see Helena at the hospital.
Rebeca drops some papers, Eva picks them up and there is rejoicing by JC about what they contain!

Thanks for the recap, Madelaine. Your memory is amazing. I loved the comment about Modesto's hamster wheel turning - that's exactly what it looked like!
Eduardo does have a heart - and some sort of secret, too. The scene with the flowers was very touching.
My Spanish isn't good enough to catch more than a quarter of what is happening, but in the scene with Pluti and Onesimo, it wasn't clear to me that Onesimo had disclosed that he saw Rebecca in the hotel room the night of the poisoning. Is Onesimio keeping that to himself or did I just miss it?

I say we're in a transition to a new stage. Everyone's relationships are changing.
* Helena & Plutarco - she almost yielded to him and then got deathly ill.
* Helena & Juan - her embers have been fanned back into a hot fire.*
* Eduardo & Helena - he didn't say anything mean to her, and he let her say nice things to him.
* Sylvia & Eduardo - she ain't takin' no more crap from him.
* Marcela & Fernando - she's reaching her limit with him.
* Lucia & Renato - we'll see how this event plays out.
* Rebecca & Plutarco - she is determined to suss out Pluto's role in the fraud, and I suspect that she'll make more progress than Juan has so far.
* Onesimo & Rebecca - he probably knows she poisoned something. He also has her naughty bits dvd. How will he use these? As blackmail? Or will he for some reason turn against Pluto and side with Rebecca? Every man has his price, and if she offers Onesimo big enough "booty" in exchange, he has plenty of damning evidence against Pluto. Given her low-class background, wouldn't it be funny if those two became a pair?
And one more change. Eugenia's doctor says her mind is now clear, and he wants her to return to acting.
In fact, the only relationships that have not made a big change in the past two caps are Santi & Angie, and Eva/Adriano/Mimi. I predict that triangle changes shape Monday, since everything else is changing.
*I'm sure everyone will work to convince Helena that Juan was a product of her delirium. Sin embargo, her fire is raging again, and that will change her response to Pluto.

I too will lay my money on "everyone will try to convince Elena that it was not JC but the meds." I loved JC's exchange with Dios. As he exited the chapel did he salute and give a gang-sign to Crissstoo? *I* honestly could fall in love with a man with such reverent irreverence! JC stuggles with his misogyny but his heart is headed towards the right place...his head needs to catch up. Thanks to all of you re-cappers for superb recaps like this one! Phillygrrl

A note about Marcela and the taxi. In DF there are secure taxis and regular taxis. Regular taxis are considered very dangerous and the middle class (like Marcela) doesn't ride them. For a secure taxi, you call the dispatcher and he tells you a random number. When your taxi arrives, the driver tells you that random number to prove that he's the right taxi. That way if he mugs you and leaves your body in a ditch, they know who to arrest.
Fer tells Marcela to take a secure taxi. She tells Fer, "No, I'll just take a regular taxi." Then she tells the kids something like, "If I don't come back, remember that I always loved you."

Wow, Madelaine, terrific recap from memory! Very impressive! Pluto stalking--one of my faves, and the heavenly chorus....!
Julie, did you notice the sole accordion in the middle? They put it there just for you. Or, have I forgotten who liked the accordion?
I have yet to watch the rest of the epi, since I'm about 1/4 of the way through, but now I know what to watch for.

Supposedly we'll only be getting brushed by Sandy tomorrow, but it promises to be quite a large and lengthy brush and I will probably lose my electricity for a while. So right now I'm making some preparations and charging up all my things! I hope people south of here are/will be safe.

Sorry to say, I was in a rush and didn't watch very carefully. :-( I did get a good look at Eduardo's visit with Helena though and was just as confused as everyone else by his change in attitude. Maybe living in filth has somehow reformed him, but that doesn't seem very realistic, does it?

Mads thanks so much for the recap. Even from memory, you provided us with much needed detail. I fell asleep half way through, so I missed Bastardo acting like a human being toward Helena. I am shocked. I won't be able to believe it till I see it!

The wind isn't too bad either. I hope it quickly brushes by you and you don't lose your power. Oh, Julie I laughd about your realism remark. I too get so caught up in these characters sometimes, lol.
