Amores Verdaderos #10 Wed 11/21/12 One Hawt Guy To The Rescue; Kendra Goes Behind Salsero's Back
We have a hawt guy to the rescue tonight, another hawt guy that is totally devestated, Kendra moves forward with her own mis planes and Paula burns something and then is burned up by something else! For further details read on.
We start this epi with the Arriaga's at home and Christi is gonna fix something for them to eat. There is some wrestling with Lili and ouchies from our Angel.
Paula is meeting with her P.I. and gets the scoop on Candelaria. She has been working as a nurse in Alamos, Sonora affiliated with the church, evidently. So the investigation is concluded and Paula pays the P.I. He is very happy. Now towards the back, in waltzes Felipe the husband of Paula (don't think they are divorced) and he spys her sitting at this table with the P.I. he ducks around the corner when she calls for the check, so he isn't seen by her. Felipe thinks this guy is her amante. The P.I. gives a bunch of pics in an envelope to Paula that he took, during his investigation, he also mentions Adriana Balvanera, Vikki's sister, he has included something on her, in this packet and also pics of Christi and Lili. There is a newspaper with an article about Adriana Entitled: La Mexican is a hit in Paris. Paula peruses the paper.
Meanwhile, looks like Adriana has come back to Mexico. She goes to a hotel and asks if they have a reservation in her name. They do. She fills out some paperwork for the room.
At the Balvanera house in Morelos, Nana is asking Nikki what she wants for dinner, she will fix anything she likes. Well, Nikki orders enchiladas and beans. Nana is happy with this.Nikki tells Guzmancito they will be eating together as he will spread the chisme to her Mama that she ate cause her Mama has it stuck in her head she is anemic. Fortuno comes in to report the situation with the workers around the ranch and Guzman is happy. Nikki broke a nail, oh noes, and wants Guzmancito to run to the drugstore for her in St. Rita to pick up some nail supplies, doncha know. Guzmancito doesn't want to leave her alone, but with the extra security and Fortunato being there, she should be ok. Ok? She goes to beg him on her knees, but he says yeah, yeah, I'll go for you.
Looks like Jose Angel and Christi are leaving the ranch to go to town. They are going to do a follow up to his shoulder injury in St. Rita. The Angel wants to go to the same doctora that Vikki found for him, but oh, noes, Christi does not want that, no siree bob, she doesn't. Lili asks if it wouldn't have been better to have stayed a couple more days at Vikki's house. Christi gets all in a huff and says no, don't mention that woman again or her house, punto! She takes her jealous self to the truck and slams the door! The Angel went back in the house to get something and Lili asked if she could get it for him, he says he may be injured but he isn't paralyzed.
Guzmancito has arrived at the little pharmacy, at least that's what it looks like in town, he asks for a bottle, I think of nailpolish remover and also a nail file? What color the lady asks? He is just stumped and chagrined, lol.
Lili is all alone now at the ranch and getting ready for bed. She tells her little plant Carmelita good night, aw, very earth mother, and kisses a pic of her Mama and Papa good night too. She also thought bubbles about Guzmancito and her sniffing that pink flower in the hot house, she is smiling.
The Angel and Cristi are at the clinic in St. Rita and waiting to see the doc. He is pacing. Finally he is seen.
Meanwhile, all was quiet on the ranch, when suddenly we see a guy smoking and furtively staking out the house, he also looks in the window to see if anyone is within the house. This guy looks like the gyspy character from CS 2009, the bad one Servando. He whistles and another guy joins him. He says they are lucky and goes and runs and gets what looks like two big huge containers of something. It is gasoline and they are throwing on the house and all around it too. Pobre Lili, she must be asleep. She is as we can see her fast asleep on her bed. They evil minions even throw gasoline on the house! They throw the empy containers in the high grass, away from the house, and cackling like hyenas light matches and throw them on the trail of gasoline, which instantly ignites. They are still laughing like hyenas, as they watch the flames start up.
Also burning something is Paula. She has taken the pics of Christi and Lili and is burning them in a nice silver dish on the coffee table, and says now Anibal Balvanera, your daughter and your granddaughter, no longer exist for you. I am surprised she isn't cackling by this point.
Meanwhile as the flames lick around the house, Lili is still sleeping. Those evil minions are still outside watching the ranch house burn, and Lili is still asleep, oblivious of the danger she is in.
Adriana is now in a church and praying to the Virgincita. She talks about how she hasn't prayed to the Virgincita in a long time, has been away from Mexico for a long time too, cause of her grief over her little Rosalita. She has lost a child evidently and is begging the Virgincita that she loves this child with all her soul.
Paula is still burning all the pics and also that newspaper with Adriana in it, and says Anibal will respect her and so will her son Francisco. She will be more than Anibal's amante.
Guzmancito is driving back to the Balvanera place, when he sees a fire in the distance. Lili is just now waking up and coughing and hacking from all the smoke. Lili sees the flames and starts screaming for her Papi. She is screaming help me, why didn't she just stop, drop and roll? Or get on the floor and crawl to safety? Instead she is screaming and very panicked. She opens the door of her room and sees the next room is full of flames and starts screaming for her Mama. She gets on the bed against the headboard and screams for them both. Meanwhile, outside the evil minion is taking a pic with his cellphone, of the burning inferno, still laughing. I hope they both drop dead, jus' sayin'. They finally leave, they don't hear Lili just a screaming in there. Now, she is really desperate calling for aid. Still hacking and coughing she opens her bedroom door again, still screaming for aid. Guzmancito has arrived and found it is a house burning, and Lili is still screaming. Guzmancito gets out of his car and asks if anyone is in there, and hears Lili screaming again. He says oh, its Lili, this must be Arriaga's house. There is a rainbarrel outside and Guzmancito does a very sensible thing. He douses himself with the water and proceeds into the house. He calls to Lili and she says please help me, I don't want to die. He covers his mouth and enters the house. He calls her name to see where she is in the house, so he can save her. She has inhaled so much smoke, she passes out and Guzmancito is running all over looking for her, calling her name. He finally kicks down her bedroom door and finds her, unconscious and unresponsive. He looks for a way to exit and decides to go the way he came in. He picks her up and goes. The fire is spreading quickly and big RUH ROH, the Arriagas use propane gas for cooking and heating and the flames are starting to get to the tanks. (Ed Note: When I lived in Sicily, we used propane gas for cooking and the Italians have the perfect name for propane gas, bombala. Very appropriate). Meanwile, while the rescue is going on, the Arriaga parents have arrived home. Christi is screaming my house, my house and the Angel gets out of the truck They both scream for Lili, and Christi attempts to go in the house and the Angel stops her. They both scream for Lili and Christi wants the Angel to go save their daughter. He attempts to, but slides on his butt. He tries again to go in the house, but is deterred by the flames. They are both screaming for Lili now.
Guess who got that pic of the burning Arriaga home? Anyone, it's Kendra of course. Bitch!!! She is happy the guys did such a good job, doncha know. She will deposit the money in his account. Bitch!!!!She is another one that has a painting of herself on the wall. Ugh. Anyhoo, she says she takes care of bidness, not like Salsero Twinkle Toes. Commercial!
Back to Angel's burning house. He does a sensible thing too, gets a blanket, wets it from the rainbarrel but breaks a window of her bedroom. Bad idea dude, now the fire has more oxygen to burn, jus' sayin'. Christi is still screaming for Lili. The fire is on top of that bombala, jus' sayin. Just about this time, Guzmancito, with Lili in his arms, jumps out of another window. Guzmancito is hacking and coughing from the smoke inhalation and Lili is still unresponsive. Guzmancito urges them to get away from the burning house. The Angel takes charge of Lili and carries her away, as Guzmancito and Christi follow. The bombala has finally caught, and the house just explodes. All of them drop to their knees, they are far enough away from the house to escape injury. Angel and Christi are tryin' to get Lili to respond and Guzmancito is still hacking and coughing. The Angle cries to Dios to save his daughter.
Meanwhile, back at the Balvanera place, Nikki is asleep on the couch and Nana covers her up with a binky. Nana thinks she is cute when asleep. Fortunato is worried about where Guzmancito is, cause Ms. Vikki is comin' and she will be mad as hell if he isn't there.
Speaking of Ms Vikki, she is journaling on her tablet, on her way to the country place. Her new bodyguard is driving. I don't know what she wrote, if anyone knows please comment.
Oh, ho, what have we here??? Salsero, Twinkle Toes, is trying to get his freak on with that Bitch of a Kendra!!!! She breaks away and he is pithed cause he thinks she will replace him soon with Nelson. She has gotten some champagne for her and Twinkle Toes to you know celebrate her evil deed. He tells her about how Ms Vikki now has a new bodyguard, he saw his resume and he is a professional, doncha know. Kendra says why the long face? Hmmm? Arriaga will soon come back to work for the Balvanera's. He wants to know what the hell she is talkin' about. Well, circumstances have changed for Arriaga, you see his ranch has burned to the ground. Well Twinkle Toes is sooo not happy, takes the champagne glass and hurls it against the wall! He is pithed she took matters into her own hands. He is grabbing her by the wrists.
Meanwhile, back at the burning ranch, they are still trying to get a response out of Lili, The Angel is crying, he wants her to live. Guzmancito touches the Angel's shoulder and now Lili responds by coughing. The Angel and Christi thank Dios for returning their daughter to them. Lili wants to know what is going on, and Angel wants to know what Guzmancito was doing there. Guzmancito tells the Angel how he is down here with Nikki, who sent him to the store, he was on his way back,saw the fire, stopped and that's how he saved Lili. Lili tells her Mama she went to sleep, woke up to the flames and couldn't get out. Guzmancito tells Lili how he found her by the bed unconcious and got her out. Guzmancito recommends Lili be seen by a doctor, but she wont' go. Personally, she ought to go, cause she had smoke inhalation, jus' sayin. Anyhoo, Guzmancito wants to know where they will spend the night now that the house is burning to the ground, and by the way, where the hay is the fire department? They have a great police department in town, thought they would have a great fire department too, jus'sayin'. Guzmancito wants them to come to the Balvanera ranch to spend the night. The Angel says he doesn't want to bother Ms Vikki, but we really know it has to do with that shrew of a Christi, they will be stayin' in a hotel in town, thank you very much. Guzmancito tells the Angel he needs to tell the authorities about the fire and Lili thanks him for saving her life. Guzmancito has to go back to the hacienda of the Balvanera's, he's been gone too long as it is. He goes. All three group hug now, that would be the Angel, Christi and Lili and Lili cries for the plants she lost, Angel says he'll get them new clothes, everything is gone, Christi cries for the house that is no more. All their dreams up in smoke. They all cry and watch the house burn.
Back to Twinkle Toes and that Bitch Kendra. She thinks he ought to be happy she took care of bidness, they did a great job. Twinkle Toes is pullin' her hair. He says never go against him again, especially her. She throws the champagne in his face, he has let go of her hair. He goes to punch her, as she is cowering against that painting of her, thinks better of it,and leaves. She says that's it and makes a call. She is calling Nelson. She wants to know if he's still there, and he will be for awhile. She is happy.
At the hacienda Balvanera, Guzmancito has made it back and told Fortunato all about the fire and saving Lili's life. Guzmancito is a hot mess, with ashes and dirt all over him. He asks after Nikki, and Fortunato tells him she fell asleep in the salla and is still sleeping. He worriedly runs into the house. He covers her with the binky again, and she wakes up and he tells her he picked up the stuff she wanted. She wants to know why he is such a hawt mess. He tells her about the Arriaga home and the fire and she is instantly concerned for the Superman, Angel is he ok? Yeah he is ok, and he mentions Lili which sets her off. She is all mad about that, but Guzmancito lets her know the whole family survived and by the way he will get his scratches treated by morning. Her phone rings and its a guy she calls Vladdy, as in Vladimir, from the D.F. She pretends she is talkin' to her Mama. She makes plans with Vladdy and tells Guzmancito they are heading back to the D.F. muy pronto, change of plans. Guzmancito wants to know why she didn't say anything about the Angel's house goin' up in flames. She ignores him and goes to pack her stuff up. She tells him, let's go, move it, OK???
Now this is the part that burns Paula up. She is talkin' to Anibal on the phone and says she will wait with dinner. The doorbell rings, and I'll give you a sec to figure out who it could possibly be, behind the door, hmmmm???? It's Felipe, the Gamblin' Man, of course, her hubby. He has followed her home after that meeting with her "amante". He tries to come in, she tries to slam the door in his face, but he comes in anyways. He thinks her place is great, very elegant, why is she so nervous. The "amante" isn't with her right now. He is really checkin' the place out. She wants him gone. No photos anywhere? He wants to know the "amante's" name. She won't tell him, and he steals one of Anibal's cigars. She wants to know what he wants from her, well he's her husband, doncha know. Yeah, but you had that addiction, so I got out. She wants him to go, he wants to meet the amante. He also wants to know if the amante is aware she is still married? Also she wants to give him money to go, I think. I think he will take the money, but she is crying, and then he tells her to save her false tears, for someone who cares, that would be her son, who has declared she is dead to him,and all the money in the world won't fix that. Plus, he had been, that is Felipe, lookin' for her for twenty years and here she was. He goes, and she gets behind the door and cries some more.
We see Salsero has arrived back at the office and Nelson is talkin' to him. They are talkin' about Arriaga being that special spy guy, like Bond, James Bond, but in this case Arriaga, Angel Arriaga, if you please. Seems Nelson never bought into that, and Salsero, Twinkle Toes, apologizes. There is a knock on the door and it is, wait for it, Kendra of course, and Twinkle Toes, asks in a whispering voice, what the hell is SHE doing here. She saunters by him without a word. Nelson is pleased.
Meanwhile, Vikki has returned to the Hacienda and is pithed that Nikki went back to the D.F., she was supposed to wait for her Mama. Guzman took her back. Vikki says it can't be. She is digging for her cell phone in her purse. Fortunato asks Vikki if she has heard about the tragedy that has befallen Jose Angel Arriaga? Fortunato tells her about the house burnin' down to the ground. She is very upset.
At a hotel lobby in St. Rita, Christi is huggin' Lili and says that she can't beleive she is in a hotel and not in that lovely lil house. Chrisi thinks its a real miracle that Lili made it out of that fire alive. Lili says the Virgincita intervened and sent Francisco to save her. Jose Angel is at the desk getting them a room, doesn't know how long they will be there. The Commandante from St. Rita is there too. The Commandante has brought the only thing that could be saved from the house. It is the Virgin of Guadaloupe statue that was in the dining room. There is not a scratch on it. The Angel is very grateful and thanks the Commandante. The Commandante asks the Angel if he has any enemies? The Angel says, who me, why the question? The Commandante informs him cause the fire was definitely arson! The Angel is flabbergasted!!! And here is where the epi ends.

Vikki and Angel take a meeting and she wants him to come back to work for her.
He tells Christi and she hits the roof, no way she says.

Of course it figures that the Virgencita statue was the one thing that didn't perish in the fire. And yes, that actor was Sergio Acosta from CS 2009. He is mentioned twice on my Sleazebag Villain list and may be mentioned on some future one with this role.
I think the writers decided it was time to make Nikki more sympathetic with the horse scene. But who wouldn't love a darling little baby horse like that one? I am such a sucker for baby animals.
May Kendra end up disfigured before she goes to prison for her evil.

Great work Mads! I am still only watching this with one eye, but I have to say I was glued to the tv during the fire scenes. Both JA and Niki were immediately suspicious that Guzman and Lili had been meeting secretly at the house when the fire broke out. It wasn't very nice of JA to immediately have those kinds of thoughts right after the guy had saved his one and only child.
Those arsonists weren't very smart leaving all that evidence around. Did they wear gloves when they handled the gasoline jugs? If not, then maybe the cops can get fingerprints.
Good parallel scenes with the burning of JA's home with Lili inside, and Paula burning up all those pics.
The villains still aren't capturing my attention. For example, I folded laundry during the Kendra-Salsero confrontation scene. I even said one of Salsero's lines out loud before he did-- it so predictable. But during Amor Bravio during a similar scene when the male villain violently confronts the female villain for going behind his back, I was riveted. There's just something very weak about these villains.

I just watched episode 58 - while I really don't like either the director (Salvador "Let's Overact" Garcini) or the scriptwriter (Kary "CopyPaste @ 200 Episodes Long Borefest" Fajer), I can assure you this show gets more and more magical every week.
And Erika Buenfil is such a likeable actress, you can tell she's a sweetheart IRL.
I'm working on the next recap. This time it'll be a short summary because tomorrow I go on a trip, but from next week I'll be back on full force.

Considering it appeared to be a plastic statue, it should be enshrined as a miraculous relic since even the brick house and its contents was reduced to ashes.

It was a funny recap, Madelaine. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for giving us this great recap.
Took the dog out and she leisurely took her time and returned just when the clerk was asking Guzman what color he wanted. Immediately thought what was obvious for me but knew that couldn't be cause they never use precaution in the tns. Thanks for clearing it up that it was nail polish.
A quick thank you would have been nice for Francisco right after he rescued Lili. I never thought that Big Angel was thinking he sneaked over to see Lili but that's probably why he ignored Guzman besides being terrified that Lili wouldn't make it.

Thank you for the recap, Madelaine. I think one of the arsonists was the HR/Personnel guy in LFMB. He always plays scummy characters.
Well, we got our obligatory religious miracle #1 with the statue surviving the fire unscathed.
Arriaga's shoulder and arm had their own miracle --- they worked perfectly when he discovered the house on fire.

When Paula was burning all those photos, I kept wondering why the smoke detectors weren't beeping.
I think JA's wife Cristina is doomed to wear that orange shirt dress in every episode. It's even the one in the photos Paula has.
Well, we got our obligatory religious miracle #1 with the statue surviving the fire unscathed.
Arriaga's shoulder and arm had their own miracle --- they worked perfectly when he discovered the house on fire.
