Amores Verdaderos #11 Thu 11/22/12 Vengeance, depression and a piano

* Let’s start with this screencap because I like it.

* Nelson and Kendra stay alone in his office and they have a drink. OF COURSE, Kendra doesn’t drink alcohol but this is a special occasion, so she can make an exception. While Nelson is handling the bottle and the glasses, she gets rid of her jacket and pulls her best seductive I-am-a-decent-but-desireable-little-flower look.

* Angel asks the Commandante not to mention this arson thing to his family. Cristina and Liliana hug him, and they take a look at Lili’s budget Virgencita statue that survived the fire. Qué milagro. After the girls leave, Arriaga starts wondering about who might be his enemy, and whoa, he has a flashback of that scumbag lawyer who stole his money. He tells everything to the police officer. Uh-oh, José Ángel wrinkles his nose, growls and almost explodes from anger. These can mean only one thing: vengeful Alejandro Aldama / Alfredo Robinson / Juan José Victoria / Juan Reyes / Juan del Diablo is back! Venganzaaa time! (Tell me Eduardo is never typecast.) But fortunately this time we don’t have to suffer through 100 angsty vengeance-driven episodes because the Commandante manages to reason with him, and tells the Angel that if he takes justice into his own hands, he’ll just make the situation worse.

* Victoria is at the ruins of the little house, she feels deeply sorry for the loss of the Arriaga family.

* Tomasina scolds Nikki for scaring her Mama but she can’t resist her little girl when she pulls her nicest manners. It turns out Tomasina is anxious for missing her favorite horoscope class, but worry not, Nikki tells her to go. Don’t worry, everything will be fine. Viewerville doesn’t like her smile. Finally Francisco arrives at the house too, and as usual, he’s pissed off at Nicole for deceiving him. He could’ve lost his job because of her newest trick! Oops, I’m sorry, Guzmáncito. (No, I’m not.)

* After watching her abysmal yogurt commercial, Kendra and Nelson continue dancing around each other. *Viewerville: Please, do it already so that we could move on, OKAAAY?* And yes, at last they kiss each other. There’s only one little problem: Salsero, who jealously watches them through the window.

* Adriana returns to the hotel where she has a nice chat with the receptionist. It turns out she’s a well acclaimed photographer, but her face becomes grim when the receptionist asks her if she’s a relative of Aníbal Balvanera.

* Paula and Hannibal Montes de Lecter talk about their relationship, their agreement and his family. Again. Paula’s lines, Aníbal’s lines.

* Felipe tells Beatriz that he went to see her mother. He still couldn’t get over her and he hates that b**** with the fire of thousand suns.

* Our depressed angel complains to Urbano: that house was his life and now he lost it. He lost everything because of Victoria Balvanera, be damned the day when he met her! He doesn’t notice Vic who just entered the room. You hate me that much, Arriaga? José Ángel looks ashamed.

* Salsero interrupts the fun by knocking on the door, which gives a great opportunity to Kendra to play the decent woman and leave Nelson alone. Because she can’t betray Victoria’s trust, you know.

* Arriaga apologizes, and asks Victoria to sit down and join him. He’s very depressed because he has to start again from zero… and how will he support his family now? Victoria gives him a suitcase full of female clothes – for Lili and Cristina, and then asks him if he wants his job back. José Ángel doesn’t want to kick the new bodyguard out of the house but Vic assures him that Whatshisname won’t stay without a job. All right Arriaga asks her why is she so concerned about him. Because Victoria feels responsible for what happened, and she’s sure those bandits who’d attacked her burned down José Ángel’s house. Anyway, she can offer a flat for his family and she’ll ensure that his house will be rebuilt again.

* Nikki, dressed up in a party dress (again) wants to leave the house (again), but she has to get through her guard dog first… so she gives Guzmáncito a free day off. (And a few nice insults, too.) But Francisco isn’t the mood to deal with her whims so instead he picks her up, puts her over his shoulder and brings her back to her room. *Not that I don’t like their love-hate relationship, but come on, you can’t keep a grown-up human locked up forever.*

* In the parking garage Dances With Sunglasses throws a jealous hissy fit to Kendra. She’s in control of the situation as always: oh come on, dumbass, you know you’re the only man I’m interested in!

* Guzmáncito throws the screaming girl on her bed. Francisco’s lines, Nikki’s lines.

* José Ángel gives Cristina and Lili the clothes Victoria sent to them and tells them about the news: they’ll have a flat to live in but in exchange for that he has to return to the Balvaneras (and continue his dangerous job). The girls don’t like it but the Arriagas don’t have any other option.

* Nikki and Vikki talk on phone, lil’ brat apologizes to Mom for returning to Mexico City and she’s very glad to hear that the “Super-Superman” is going to return to service.

* Victoria calls Nelson to tell him what happened to Arriaga.

* Nikki apologizes to Guzmán for her behavior. Surprise, surprise! *Viewerville: all right, young lady, but we keep vigilant* Then she invites him to the piano room when it turns out Francisco is a really good pianist. Nikki is officially enchanted and she asks him who taught him. This is the episode where everyone’s face goes grim, so I guess it was a) Paula, b) a former girlfriend. The doorbell interrupts the intimate moment, and Viewerville was right, Nikki did have second intentions! Since the mountain didn’t come to Muhammad, Muhammad had to go to the mountain, so the little miss threw a party together – in her home. And no, she doesn’t give a damn about Francisco’s concerns about security.

* Lili dreams about her knight in the shining armor. In the meantime José Ángel prays and thanks to God for keeping his child alive, then he and Cristina discuss the delicate situation they got into. Celostina, as usual, worries about Victoria’s real intentions. Cristina’s lines, José Ángel’s lines. Arriaga swears she’ll never lose him. Really? Really. Sweet kisses. *Viewerville: yummyyy*

* And as it was expected, Nikki’s party doesn’t go smoothly, there’s too much drinking, noises and humiliation for Blondie to bear. First, the little miss makes out with her slimey boyfriend (who wants to tattoo her names on his chest – oh, please) in front of the anxious bodyguard, second, her brunette girlfriend makes a move on Francisco, and third, Nikki tells everyone Francisco can play the piano, so now the whole bunch of drunken kids want him to demonstrate his talent.

Ooookay, recap is up, have a nice weekend!

Aribeth, wonderful recap and so much stuff in it too. I need to learn to condense like you did. You didn't miss a thing. Loved the piano playing of Guzmancito. He really is more than a bodyguard, and I too think Paula must have taught him to play. Nikki is really making his job difficult. But since she is of age, she ought to be able to come and go and Guzmancito could always go with her.

Good name for Chrissi, Celostina, perfect! She is that. I am glad the Angel is getting his job back, but I think Celostina will be a handful now that he is going back to work there. I too will have to look up the name of the new/now night bodyguard, I can't remember his name either, lol.

So Kendra plays every guy. Intersting that she tells Dances with Sunglasses he is the only man for her, when she is going after Nelson.

I liked you nickname for Anibal too. I want so badly to call him Anyballs, lol, but he isn't that type of character. He is still good here, which surprises me.

Loved what you said about the Angel as Juan Jose Victoria, Juan del Diablo, and I also liked him as Rodrigo Montalvo in Destilando Amor but he wasn't into venganza in that one. He does venganza very well, and those kisses, sigh. I haven't seen him as the other characters. I always like the expressions on his face and in his eyes, very expressive. He does have feelings for Vikki, so how will this play out? Can't wait for that.

So Lili is dreaming about Guzmancito. That too will be interesting. Nikki won't like her being around "her" Guzmancito. I think Nikki has feelings for him too.

Tomasina must be taking the Chinese Horoscope classes, lol. She is always talking about that Chinese Horoscope.

Thanks, Madelaine! :)

The nickname Celostina* was created by my friends whom I mentioned before, they are the ones who'd seen every version of this story already.

*(for those readers and commenters who don't speak Spanish: celo = jealousy ;))

I just realized Lili's full name is Liliana Arriaga. Poor kid.

Aribeth, thank you for your recap, it's great, I love the way the scenes are summarized, makes for a quick read yet it is complete. And funny.
I can't take this TN seriously, sorry, but it is amusing.
I can't figure out why Kendra and Twinkle toes wanted to burn down Arriaga's house. Can someone explain this? I know they want to get rid of Vikki, and get Nelson's fortune, but not getting how getting rid of Arriaga's house will help them.

Emarie- They haven't really said what this plan is of Twinkle Toes and Kendra against the Angel but they wanted to make the Angel come back to work for Vikki, for some reason they think he is inept, isn't that crazy? He has saved Vikki twice from their kidnap attempts. They wanted to kidnap Vikki for money and thought he was a country bumpkin. Kendra was the one that came up with the plan of hey, let's burn his house down and he'll have to come back to work for Vikki, and so far it has worked.

Aribeth - Thank you for the recap.

This morning, so far, I only watched the first half of my recording of this episode. HOW on earth does JA think the house fire is Viki's fault? Qué the ****? Gimmeabreak.

I was hoping Guzman would put Nikki over his knee and give her a good paddling. The spoiled brat (mocosa consentida-? 'brat' is so much easier to type) really needs a good spanking.

Doris- JA thinks the fire was Vikki's fault cause all this bad stuff has happened since he met her, in other words she has brought him nothing but bad luck since he met her.

Aribeth - Muchas gracias.

Agree it's just dumb that they want JA back as the bodyguard for their evil plan to work. With no formal training, he's been doing a great job. But maybe they think he's just gotten lucky and his luck is bound to give out the next time.

Enjoyed the scene between JA and Cristina. Sweet besos. When he said they'd be together till death, I thought "Crissie get with the lovin - and quit with the haranguing - while you can."

Glad Vicki told JA the folks who want to nab her are probably the same ones behind the fire. Makes a lot more sense than his thoughts about the loan payment scammer. It's not Vicki's fault, but all JA's troubles (thoughts about a woman not his wife, wife's jealousy once she see's Vicki trying to consume JA with her eyes, house burning down and almost killing his daughter) did start with her.

Thoughtful of Vicki to give Angel clothes for his wife and daughter. But there's a sense of entitlement about Vicki that I don't like. From the previews, looks like Crissie plants a passionate one on JA right in front Miss Vicki, who looks horrified. Hey lady, that's her husband after all.

Aribeth! Nice to see you back! I love your unconditional love for Ed Yañez and your wit and style is so great.

I haven't watched any novelas since the begining of the year and not really any of Televisa but I get a few glimpses here and there of this novela when my mom watches and I saw parts of TV Azteca's version back in the day so I know how the story goes. That one was ea HUGE hit, I don't think Azteca has seen those numbers in years, poor them.

This one is less serious, more comedic but I think this fits Eduardo Yañez better. Didn't he and Erica Buenfil played a couple in some novela of the 80's? They work well together.

It's always nice to see Rulli but I miss his hair. I don't like it when he lets it grow too much but it was perfect back in Teresa, oh well.

Jarocha

Oh yeah, Yañez and Buenfil did play a couple in El Maleficio. I found a clip.

Awesome recap, Aribeth! I so admire how you can be succinct! And love the screencaps--well chosen! Very funny with lots of good snark. Perfect, really perfect. Love "Dances with Sunglasses" LOL!

I'm pretty sure Paula taught our Guzmacito to play the piano.

Nikki is really pushing it here, with her sleazy boyfriend. I'm going to guess that the actor playing the boyfriend gets typecast as "sophisticated douchebag" types--he exudes that vibe. It's the designer stubble. Guzmancito can wear designer stubble and look fab, not all guys can.

Definitely Nikki has the hots for Guzmancito, but is repressing it, big time. She loves all the attention he gives her. She doesn't feel her parents haven't given her enough (she probably is right, especially with her dad), and here's someone who HAS to give her attention, and he's smokin' hot too! LOL.

I really do think that Big Angel loves his wife and has every intention of being faithful to her. He seems like a decent guy. (I'm sticking to that belief unless the writers completely let us down! My guess is that they won't. Crossing my fingers!) He may be drawn to Victoria, he may feel an affinity for her, but he's got a history with his wife and he wouldn't screw that up. Of course it would help if she would tone down the jealousy stuff a bit.

Did anyone else watch Hoy yesterday for their Thanksgiving edition? They had a "Thanksgiving Dinner" with Jorge Salinas, Sebastian Rulli, the girl who plays Nikki, and the guy who plays the sleazy husband of Camila (?) in Amor Bravio. I recorded the whole thing! (LOL, that is dedication!) Salinas was wearing his mariachi outfit from "Que Bonito Amor" and the girl who played Nikki talked a lot (I think she was nervous). They talked about their shows--Salinas about "Que Bonito Amor" and Rulli and the Nikki actress about Amores. And the guy from Amor Bravio actually looks like a pleasant, nice, decent guy when he's not playing a douchebag on TV! LOL.

Now off to read everyone else's comments!

Lovin' it. When Jose finally kissed and I do mean kiss Cristina, I thought.. finally.. I like her so much more than Vicki. Vicki's voice irks me.. She screeches even when she isn't hysterical.. Cristina is an earth mother and prettier...If there wasn't so much stress about money.. she and Jose would have a hot time together.. :)

I finished watching the recording of this episode. What a great moment, when Guzman threw Nikki over his shoulder and carried her upstairs. Could this be a sign they will end up together? Clearly Liliana is developing a big crush on Guzman. I hope she doesn't get hurt.

Fun, Arabeth, thanks!

I'm pretty sure those weren't Guzmancito's hands playing the piano. The hands were kind of stubby, and Rulli has long-fingered hands.

Yañez and Buenfil definitely have a spark. And I really like Rulli in this quirky roll - so serious most of the time then pulls a prank and has a laughing fit. This is more natural for him than some roles have been.

Agreed to whomever said the villains were like cartoon characters or plastic villains. Very shallow and boring. Salsero is somewhat interesting, otherwise, bleeeech.

So, Kendra's whole plan was to burn down Arriaga's house so that he would be forced to rejoin Victoria's household? Que, que what? I thought she was focused on going after Niki now. The whole Kendra/plot/Salsero thing is not making any sense, and I'm not willing to make any effort to understand what drives her (nor Paula). I'll just assume it's because she's a bitch and likes to be bad. No other reason. Paula, just because she's jealous and bitter. Whatever! Boring!

Great work; I just caught up with the episode.

Kendra likes to play one-upwomanship games and possibly is looking for some kind of revenge of her own.

Nikki has the potential to become like her if somebody doesn't get her in line. I was so wishing that Francisco would paddle her bony arse but no go this time.

had to stop by and glance at some of the recap, screencaps and comments. have to say i LOVE LOVE the nicks 'Celostina' and 'Dances with Sunglasses'... perfect!

Hola, thanks for the comments!

I realized I left many errors in the text, so I fixed them... or at least most of them.

And Jarocha, I'm glad to see you, too! :)))
