Amores Verdaderos #8 Mon 11/19/12 As if we didn’t have enough triangles already

* Winter garden. Lili explains to Guzmáncito that she isn’t an intruder but Arriaga’s daughter, and she only sneaked into the flower room because she’s really, really into plants. I mean, really. At first Francisco is immune to her Disney charm and he coldly reminds her of the fact that she isn’t allowed to wander around the house without permission. Liliana gets frightened at his strict tone and she apologizes, and her reaction is so over the top that Blondie can’t help but bursts into laugh. They shake hands.

* Kitchen. Sweetheart Angel feels with Victoria who’s at the verge of a nervous breakdown: Liliana is his greatest treasure and he doesn’t know what he would do if something happened to her. And he even understands her struggles with Nikki (who has a very difficult personality) and her husband (who’s a negligent and lousy father). Vic is overflowed with feelings, she’s glad that she can talk about these things with the big guy but in the meantime she feels ashamed that she threw her problems onto him. And she used to think she was strong but now she can’t take anymore. Vic grabs his hand and it looks they are about to hug each other, and OF COURSE this is the very moment when Cristina enters the room. Qué the hell is happening here?

* Nikki has a video chat with the brunette friend of hers. (I wish my phone was able to produce such a great quality. *cough*) In the evening there will be a party, Nicole should go and bring her hot bodyguard along. Oh, don’t even get her started with Guzmán! She’s fed up with him and with her mother who thinks she’s an infant who needs a babysitter. But okay, she’ll try to escape from the gorilla and join the party later.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

* Victoria, who’s still sobbing, tells Cristina that all José Ángel did was giving her comfort because she had an awful day. She thanks Arriaga and says goodbye to them. Ay, that poor woman, says Angel who’s totally oblivious to the green flames of jealousy in Cristina’s eyes that have been firing at him since the beginning of the scene. And the hell breaks loose. Cristina is sure that Victoria wants more from her husband than his bodyguard services and she won’t stay in her house for a minute longer! José Ángel gets pissed off, too, so he grabs her elbow and tells her there’s nothing between him and Ms. Balvanera… and now they should go to sleep. After they leave, it turns out Polita and Jean Marie were hiding in the corner and they heard the shouts. This means soon the whole household will know what happened that evening.

* In the bedroom Nelson works on his computer, it turns out he asked Kendra to do the yoghurt commercial. Kendra. And yoghurt. Vic doesn’t like the idea and she doubts that Barbie’s image would be right for the commercial. Did Aníbal approve this decision? Nelson is too much in love with his own genius and he thinks the company should follow a more innovative path.

* At Kendra’s flat. Barbie and Salsero talk about their masterplan, again. Kendra mentions she could easily convince Nelson to leave his wife for her, but Dances With Sunglasses isn’t fond of the idea. Okay honey, says Kendra, as you wish. But make sure Arriaga doesn’t return to his lil’ house on the pampas… because if he does, things will be done her way. Sometimes I can’t decide who’s the bigger alpha male between these two.

* Arriaga looks for his daughter in the garden. He’s in quite a bad shape, he seems to have a constant ache in the chest. Lili’s still in the flower room/winter garden and she does her best to turn the enchanted Guzmáncito into a Disney cartoon character. Oh dear, now they’re sniffing a pink flower. Arriaga shows up at the door and interrupts the magical moment just a second before a dimension portal opened to the World of My Little Pony. Daddy doesn’t like what he sees, so he pulls a bitchface, sends Lili to bed and Guzmán tomorrow he’ll return to his house. This means they probably won’t meet again, however, if Francisco ever decides to visit the Arriagas he’ll be welcome. The hawt guys hug each other. *Women in Viewerville: awwww, bromance!*

* Later in the house Dances With Sunglasses tells José Ángel he should reconsider his resignation because Ms. Victoria trusts him deeply and no one else who could protect her better. Sorry, says Arriaga, it was a really a hard decision for Arriaga, but he has to put his family first.

* In the kitchen Jean Marie and Polita talk about the fight Cristina and José Ángel had last night. Actually, Polita think Cristina caught her husband and Victoria doing the deed on the table. Tomasina comes into the room with Guzmán. She’s very worried for Victoria so Blondie promises her to find a new trustworthy bodyguard.

* In the Arriagas’ bedroom Lili asks José Ángel about Francisco and she can’t stop gushing about his gorgeous smile. But don’t worry, dad, your smile is beautiful, too. *Viewerville: all right, Liliana, everything is forgiven for now*

* Nelson can’t understand why Victoria is so sad about Arriaga’s resignation. Don’t worry, tomorrow he’ll find her a more experienced bodyguard. Victoria cuddles up to her husband and whispers that after a hard day like that she needs some affection. But our Casanova suddenly turns into a prudent little virgin and tells her they should sleep instead.

* Nikki spent the whole episode with taking a shower and dressing up like the newest disco Barbie and now she’s ready to leave. She climbs down on a rope from her balcony… and arrives right into the arms of the ever vigilant Francisco. *Viewerville: LOL* Guzmán won’t let her leave and he threatens her with waking Victoria up. Nikki has no choice but to go back to her room… and Francisco follows her because he wants to make sure she won’t escape again. In her room he laughs at the good old “pillows under blanket” trick and mocks Nikki for her lack of imagination. Oh dear, Guzmáncito is slowly turning into an adorably insolent modern Petruchio. Best scene of the episode, hands down. Finally she manages to kick him out of the room… and here comes the ugly part. Nikki can’t deal with the stress of this situation so first she quickly eats a box of chocolate, then she cries in a fetal position.

* Next morning. While Dances With Sunglasses is waiting for his jefe, he’s fuming about his bad luck: dammit, that dumb Arriaga ruined all his plans and now Guzmán will bring a new bodyguard!

 * Victoria tells Tomasina that Nelson promised her a surprise. But since Narcissus isn’t that giving person unless his wife has a birthday, Victoria suspects it has something to do with the company. And she doesn’t like it at all. She worked her ass off to convince her father to give her the position of creative director, and won’t step aside to please her husband. And on top of it all, now he has to deal with the new bodyguard. She sighs and thinks about how much she’ll miss Arriaga.

*Guzmáncito and Liliana meet in the hallway. Disney Girl informs Blondie that Cristina went to buy something, the Angel is still knocked out by the medicines the doctor gave him and Lili couldn’t take a shower because the water in their bathroom is blocked. Francisco offers her to use the bodyguards’ bathroom.

* Tomasina comes into Nikki’s room to pick up her laundry and she finds the remnants of the evening: the mess, the trash and the empty box of chocolate. She tells the sleepy and yawning girl she understands that Nikki is a very impulsive and reckless kid but she should be more careful of what she does. What are you talking about, asks Nikki. I’m talking about what you did last night! Oops. Nikki has no idea that Tomasina is talking about the chocolate and the mess she made, so she immediately jumps to the conclusion Guzmán spilled the beans about her escape. That idiot! She runs out of the room screaming that he will pay for *that*… Leaving a very dumbfounded Tomasina behind. “What idiot?”

* The shrew runs into Francisco’s room looking for a fight… only to find the freshly showered Liliana there. What. Happened. Here? Oh Guzmáncito, you’re in the deepest trouble because you are forbidden to bring your lovers into this house. Thank you, gorilla, you put the rope around your own neck! You’re fired!

 * Cristina arrives back from the shop and finds an unconscious, fevered, trembling Angel in the bed. She runs to the dining room where Tomasina tells Victoria about the fight Arriaga and his wife had last night because of her. Oh no, that cannot be possible! Victoria looks very uncomfortable and she becomes even more upset when Cristina shows up screaming and begging for help for her half-dead husband.

* Nikki enjoys the situation immensely. She’s about to go and tell her mom what happened when Guzmán tells her that this half-naked girl isn’t his girlfriend and she was brought into the house by Arriaga, her father.

* Tomasina and Cristina leave for the doctor and Victoria stays behind to look after sick man. Arriaga wakes up for a second and before he falls back into unconsciousness he desperately begs her not to leave.

I'm working on the recap, I'll be back in the afternoon.

Guzmán-Petruchio fro president!

Aribeth, loved the pics and can't wait for your always fab recap :)

The pictures were great Aribeth. My favorite novelas are the ones where the actors seem to be enjoying themselves immensely, and that seems to be the case here, particularly with Yanez and Rulli.

Also looking forward to what I know will be a stellar recap...

I would like to know how old Nikki and Arriaga's daughter are supposed to be. Arriaga's daughter spent the night in their room. After I was about 10, and I was certain that my parents had sex, I never wanted to spend the night with them. Gross. They can't have it both ways. She can't be 10 and lust after Guzman at the same time. Also, I do not like Guzman's smile. I think he's gorgeous, but his smile bugs me. Yes, I'm crazy. I also didn't like Zepeda's smile.

Both Lili and Niki are being treated like children by their families, even though they are both legally adults-- at least 18. Frankly, I think they are both too young for Guzman. His mother left him 20 years ago, and didn't his sister say he was something like 12 at the time? So he has a good 12-14 year age difference on these two young women. If either of them acted maturely, or even acted their age, then it wouldn't be so bad. Lili acts like she's 10 and Niki acts like she's 5.

I think Lili slept in the same room as her parents because they were unexpected guests and leaving really early in the morning. Plus, with JA's injury, it's not like he and Cristi were going to be getting it on.

I usually don't like comic relief in dramatic tns, but I can't help but laugh at the antics of the maid and cook. They are hilarious!

Agree all three Arriaga's were in the same room because they were heading out early. All three were sleeping fully dressed in their clothes.

It was tough for me to watch JA and Christina arguing as it was like a real couple coming to a head. Kudos to both actors.

Now, if I were showering in a man's bath and suddenly I heard him arguing with a woman in the next room, I'd hurry up and get dressed in the bathroom and probably wait a bit hoping the female would leave soon so I could exit -- I would definitely not walk out right away in only a towel. Lili's been very sheltered.

When I watched Nikki stuffing herself with the candy, I didn't think of it as product placement, but now I realize they did have a good shot of the Ferrero Rocher box.

Aribeth, looking forward to your recap when I return tomorrow.

Recap is up.

I loved this episode, especially the balcony scene with Guzmán and Nikki, and the one with Lili and her parents in the bedroom. Cristina and José Ángel were genuinely smiling at her crush on Francisco.

I agree that both Nikki and Lili are treated like they were little girls.

But.
Houston, we have a problem. We need more recappers. Pretty please, with a cherry on top.

If I have to write more than one recap a week (= translate from one foreign language into another), I'll burn out very quickly.

Thanks for your recap Aribeth---I was kinda slow getting into this one, the characters and their parts but i'm starting to get the main ones anyway.

Sherlyn can act like a child, or any way she wants. I love her---Is there going to be a fight between Lili and Nicki for the Guzmancito? That could be interesting. And will Arriga loose his wife over or because of Christina? Add in sunglasses and this could get interesting.

Loved your recap and photos Aribeth.

It makes me cringe when Lili hugs and kisses her father. I never kissed my father like that or jumped all over him as she does.

Marta Ivett- Would you want to switch with Aribeth, once Refugio ends and do Wednesdays and she could do Thursdays? Please let us know.

Hey Aribeth, loved all the pics you put up. Havent' had time to read the recap yet, but I'll comment later.

Lost my comments. Anyway, I want to thank Aribeth, Madelaine and Elvira for the wonderful recaps. They are fun and I am keeping up with your help.

I also could do without the lip kissing between Dad and almost adult child, Lili. Shouldn't be walking in a towel around someone's house when you are a guest. And did she have a change of clothes anyway?

Can't wait to see E Y looking handsome all spiffed up in a suit as seen in the titles.

Aribeth - Terrific recap. I love the way you sail through all the action. Your take on Guzman and Lili in the greenhouse was lol, especially "World of My Little Pony."

Aribeth, you are an inspiration. Loved your screencaps—wonderfully chosen. Loved your recap. Snarky, succinct, yet covered it all. I admire your ability to do this in two foreign languages! And I admire that you got the kept the recap to a good length without sacrificing detail. I aim to do this in my recaps, but invariably fail! I always go on too long.

If you are feeling in danger of burning out, let me know and I'll cover one of your nights with one of my abbreviated "screencap edition" recaps. Not indefinitely, but until someone else can do that night permanently. (I need to worry about burning out too, and as I keep on saying, I'm saving myself for the new Jorge Salinas novela, whenever it shows up! Or Fernando Colunga's novela. But I think I'll want to do Jorge's.)

Let's hope that when Refugio ends that it'll free up a few recappers for Amores. Crossing my fingers! :D

And as for the episode last night--really enjoyed it. LOVED the bits with Guzmancito saying to Nikki that bad girls end up bad. He was hilarious. Loving him more and more.

And this whole thing between Vicki and Big Angel is getting more and more obvious. While I think Christina needs to tone down her jealousy, there *is* something there (though I believe/hope that neither Vicki nor Big Angel will fully acknowledge it or act on it until they are more morally "free" to do so).

Tonight is going to be an interesting episode. Am in the process of "precapping" it now.

This is the first telenovela I've seen where they use classical music in the background: in one scene (Victoria's art studio), I think they play the Allegro from Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and in another scene (Nelson's and Victoria's bedroom) the Adagietto movement from Mahler's Symphony No. 5.

I look forward to hearing more music like this!

I meant Victoria not Christina. Christina is his wife--sorry

Aribeth, what a marvelous recap. Succint and to the point with lots of snark. Love your name for Salsero, Dances with Sunglasses, lol. I am like Elvira recappping too, I tend to run over long sometimes. I am going to try to do a bullet recap like our fellow recapper Sara used to do. They were very on point, and she never missed anything :).

Loved the scene with Nikki and Lili. She assumes and she'll eat it in the end. She is wayyy snobby. So sighed at the end with the Angel beggin' Vikki not to leave him. Sigh!!!! But he can't do anything about that until he is free to do so, like Elvira said.

Still loving Polita and Jean Marie. They are always so funny. I always like how they lighten the mood.

And yes please, we do need some more recappers for this TN. Aribeth and I are doing two days a week. We need at least two more recappers.

Gringo, nice to see you here. I always like the male point of view on these TN's.

GoBlueFan in OH-Welcome. I don't know much about classical music but I do like the music for this TN. It always fits the scenes quite well. Please continue to comment.

Aribeth, this was pure gold. Loved everything about this recap.

This was laden with treasure: "Ay, that poor woman, says Angel who’s totally oblivious to the green flames of jealousy in Cristina’s eyes that have been firing at him", "Nelson is too much in love with his own genius", "Dances With Sunglasses" and "Casanova suddenly turns into a prudent little virgin" were just a few of my favorites.

I could do witha little less Nikki although that would mean less Guzman, so never mind!

Vic and Jose are generating much more heat than expected for which I am very pleased.

Aribeth, you are the best!!!
