Amor Bravío #91 (Uni 86) Tue 12/25/12 Feliz Navidad! There’s still time to get your personally engraved Acme Anvils and have them ready for Día de los Reyes!

The Dastardly Duo of Xi and Al are trapped between Hissie’s car and certain death.  Hissadora eventually succeeds and Ximena and Alonso’s car heads over the cliff landing in a ball of fire.  Hissadora looks over the edge, “Adiós, hijito.  Oh well, you’re worth more to me dead than alive.  You had gone beyond my grasp and became my enemy and that I could not abide.   And now, thanks to you, I will become immensely wealthy.”  She blows him a kiss and walks back to her car.

Aculco - Delegación
Aaron and Rafa are meeting with an official to file a complaint against Alonso for Camila’s kidnapping.  The official explains his guys are already at Buenaventura and have even recovered the body of the man who died there (Bruno).  Aaron and Rafa insist they go after Alonso.  He’s very dangerous and could escape.  Rafa calls the ranch to get the details on Alonso’s vehicle.

Hospital
Legal Clarifications:  Osvaldo advises Vivi and Daniel how important it is that Alonso be detained so that he can refuse the assumption (asuncion) of the rights to La Malquerida.  It’s not enough for Daniel to retract the contract.  The legal process is already in motion and it’s too late to turn back now. As of now, even though Alonso doesn’t have those papers in his hands, all he needs is an attorney to make it valid.  Alonso is now the sole owner of La Malquerida.  Daniel may have been under stress due to the kidnapping but he didn’t advise the proper authorities so there isn’t any legal recourse.  They can go to a civil case attorney.  Daniel feels what they must do now is locate Alonso and obligate him to surrender La Malquerida to Camila.  Maybe pressure him, threaten him, but whatever it takes to get him to surrender La Malquerida.

Crash Site
First responders are at the site.  EMTs advise cop on duty they’ve seen 2 bodies.  One was still in the vehicle and the other was thrown clear.  It’s going to be awhile.  Apparently cop isn’t paying attention cuz he asks how many.  EMT  repeats there are two. The person trapped in the car is dead, totally burned.  The other is in grave condition, but still alive.  *gasp*  Cop wants info on vehicle and plate numbers and any ID they can find on the bodies.  He wants to determine if either of the victims is who they’re looking for.

Hospital
Vivi comes to Camila’s bedside.  Agustina is already there.  Vivi advises there is no word on Alonso but the authorities are looking for him.  Camila never wants to see him again.  Vivi tells her she may have one more reason to come in contact with him.  She explains Daniel had to give up La Malquerida in order to ensure her release.  If Alonso doesn’t give it up, she may never get back her ranch.  Camila is angry that Daniel put up the ranch for her release.  Vivi explains Daniel wasn’t about to negotiate with her life on the line.   Camila understands but it’s so unfair.  Agustina thinks that what is unfair is that Daniel only thinks of seeking revenge by blaming others for what happened.  She explains Daniel has accused Dionicio of being involved in the kidnapping.  She doesn’t know who’s crazier, Daniel or Alonso!  They’re interrupted by a member of Aculco’s finest.  El Comandante has come to get her statement about the kidnapping and will also need for her to ID the body of the kidnapper.  She never got a look at him, he always wore a ski mask (pasamontaña).  She only knows he was in constant contact with Alonso via cell phone.  El Comandante shares his guys have recovered a cell phone among his belongings.  This will enable them to determine all calls to and from that phone.

In the waiting area, Osvaldo rushes in with an envelope for Daniel.  He agrees to hand it to Agustina then he plans to call Amanda to bring her up to date.

Back in Camila’s room, el Comandante has finished taking her statement.  As Agustina leaves to visit with Dionicio, Camila asks to see him when he’s able to receive company.  When alone, Vivi asks about Camila wanting to see Dionicio.  Camila explains she will never forget that he saved her life.

In the hallway, Osvaldo catches up to Agustina and hands her the envelope.  It’s the letter from Don Daniel explaining why he left everything to Daniel.   Agustina’s miffed that Osvaldo was also aware of the lies of that infeliz!  “Daniel is no infeliz”, barks Osvaldo.  “When you read that letter, you’ll understand why he had to lie.  Hasta luego!”  Agustina reads the letter and is quickly dismayed by what she reads.

Hissadora joins the others in the waiting area.  Daniel wastes no time in accosting her, asking about the whereabouts of her son.  “No.Lo.Se!”  She’s told him before.  Daniel knows that, he just doesn’t believe her.  She knows Alonso’s every move.  Where is he?  Hissadora:“Alonso’s not a 5 year-old, needing my constant attention.  Besides, I’m just as concerned about what’s happened as everyone else!”   Daniel’s not buying it and tells her so.  When he buries Alonso, he’ll bury her along with him!  He knows she involved in some way.  He will never forgive them for endangering Camila’s life.  Never.  Ah, Cayetano comes to her rescue, telling Daniel to back off.  No one speaks to a woman in that tone.  Daniel assures him he has no idea who this woman is and what she’s capable of.  The only thing Cayetano knows is that she’s a lady.  (yeah, Lady Kimodo)  He warns Daniel that he will need to show her some respect, at least while she’s in his presence.  He pulls Hissadora aside and they head for the cafeteria.  Natalia chooses this moment to break away.  Hmmmmm, where’s she headed?

Vivi runs into Agustina who is now crying after reading Don Dan’s letter.  Agustina shakes the letter at Vivi, calling it ifamy (infamia).  Her brother-in-law had no proof to speak this way about Dionicio.  Vivi can only say he most likely did; otherwise, why would he have asked Daniel to protect Camila?  Agustina refuses to believe it.  Vivi understands Dion is her husband, but she shouldn’t be blind to the proof in those accusations.  Ah, here it comes.  Agustina is certain that if this were true, Dion wouldn’t have risked his life to save Camila.  Instead, she thinks everyone is slandering Dion, finding him culpable in any way possible.  She hands the letter to Vivi.

In Camila’s room, the nurse is finishing up and Camila talks her into getting a wheelchair to take her to visit Dion to thank him yet again.

Vivi returns to the League of Justice members and hands the letter back to Daniel.  She tells him Agustina is as blind as a topo (mole) and is accusing them of slandering her husband, etc., etc.   Daniel’s not surprised.  Dion has her eating out of his hand.  Well, Vivi’s got news for them.  Agustina’s not the only one.  Camila is insisting on seeing Dion to thank him for saving her life.

Ha-ha!  Dion is being wheeled around a hallway and they run into Camila, who’s being wheeled toward him!  She thanks him again for saving her life.  Ah shucks, ma’am.  Tweren’t nothin’.  This should just go to show her how important she is to him.  He suggests they keep in touch.  She thanks him again as he’s wheeled away.  He kisses her hand before he leaves her.

Daniel tells the Justice League there’s no way Camila can feel this way.  He’s gonna have a word with her.  He’s about to leave when in walks Mr. Delusional, Mariano.  (I like him—I just can’t believe he’d be this delusional about Camila).  He’s just returned from giving his statement to the police.  He asks permission to see Camila.

Agustina visits Dionicio and is praising him for his courage in putting his own life at risk to save her daughter.  She’s grateful he kept his word that he would find Camila.  She’s sure that after what’s happened Camila will no longer have any doubts about him.  This comes as a surprise to him.  She blabs on that she’s sure it’s all Don Daniel’s fault for accusing him in that stupid letter of being in cahoots with Alonso to take the ranch out from under Camila’s feet.  For Camila, his word was unquestionable.  Dion’s in disbelief.  He wants to know why Don Daniel accused him.  She’s sure she doesn’t know.  She just read the infamous letter where he accuses Dionicio of having an interest in La Malquerida and aiming to hurt Camila in alliance with Alonso.  Dionicio is almost speechless!  He just can’t believe someone would defame (infamar) him in this manner!  He expects she didn’t believe this slander.  “Of course not!” she assures him.  Especially after he saved Cami’s life.  Dion:  “Oh the injustice of it all, when all I’ve done for you and Camila has been to protect you.”  Agustina reaches over to console him and she inadvertently leans into his leg which is in a cast with rods holding it together.  He cries out in pain (hey, that Anvil’s gonna hurt a whole lot more, dude!)  He asks about Alonso and she explains Rafa and Aaron have filed charges against him and the police are looking for him.  Dion says they must find him.  He will never forgive him for what he did to Camila.  How he wishes Don Daniel were alive so he could see that instead of hurting Camila all he would like is to protect her and have her always by his side (eeeewwwww).

Back in Camila’s room, she and Dan are making up for lost time, smooching.  They can’t believe they’re together again.  She thought she’d never see him again and he tells her now they’ll be together – always.  Between kisses, she mentions what good luck it was that Mariano came when he did.  This reminds Daniel to tell her that Mariano wants to see her and makes a hurt, puppy face when she says she wants to see Mariano to thank him.  She admonishes him for bringing on the drama.  “Are  you bringing on the drama?  Drama? Now?  You know perfectly well you’re the one I love.  It’s just that I am very grateful to him and want to thank him, that’s all.  Ok? “  Oh goodness, she begins with the baby talk, “Quien es el más quapo?”  He cracks me up when he says, “I don’t know, him?”  She laughs and kisses him.

Speaking of drama, Hissadora is In the cafeteria laying it on thick for Cayetantonto, lamenting on how everyone is blaming her for Alonso’s shenanigans.  Why, oh why must parents be blamed for their children’s  actions?  Cayetantonto understands her pain and knows sooner or later everyone will understand that Alonso is responsible for his own actions.  Hissadodora is so grateful to him for coming to her defense with Daniel.  If he hadn’t stepped in, who knows how far that man would have gone?  Cayetano assures her that he wasn’t about to allow anyone to harm her.  He tells her not to worry.  Everyone is agitated (alterado) right now.  Camila and Dionicio were on the brink of losing their lives.  Hissadora feigns distsress, saying if anything had happened to them because of Alonso, she never would’ve forgiven herself.  Not to worry, he says, they’re both safe and that’s what’s important.  She thanks him again for defending her.  He assures her he always will when it becomes necessary.  Besides, even thougt that “tipo” is in love with Camila he’s still a simple chofer.  He should know his place.  Hissadora sets him straight that the chofer is really Daniel Diaz Acosta and the owner of La Malquerida.  Cayetano is shocked.  She brings him up to date on Daniel possibly being the result of one of Don Daniel’s many aventuras.  Don Daniel isn’t the saint everyone thought him to be.  He had many aventuras and one of them was with that Chilean who turns out to be Daniel’s mother.   That’s why he left the ranch to Daniel.  Don Daniel died without knowing if this were true or not.  Why, she wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t more of his children sprinkled about (Ha! I knew she’d fit this in somewhere – she’s planting the seed.) Don Daniel was a born seducer (seductor nato); an incorrigible womanizer!  Cayetano can’t believe it!  He never would have thought that of Don Dan.  Hissadora quotes part of a dicho, Caras vemos……….and leaves the rest just hanging.  (Dicho is: Caras vemos, corazones no sabemos.  Literal translation:  We see the face but the heart is unknown.  Basically, you can’t judge a book by its cover).  Cayetano is impactado.  Woohoo, wait til she tells him about Rocio!  Ruh-roh!

Rancho Buenaventura
Refugio doesn’t understand why Rocio is so bugged that everyone went to the hospital to see Camila.  After all, she was held captive at this ranch.  Rocio’s not so bothered that everyone went to the hospital so much as how important Camila has become to her family.  She wanted to distance her family from Camila and the opposite has happened.  Refugio tells her the more one is opposed to something the more life is determined (empeño) to deliver the contrary.  Rocio agrees but she’s convinced the further away she keeps Camila from her family, the less likely her big secret will be known.  (Too late, missy.  That ship’s about to sail!)  She starts to ramble on that with their continued coexistence and mutual dealings, certain doubts might come about.  She can’t live in peace with this situation.  Refugio suggests she stop dwelling on that because it will only attract it more.  She suggests she just forget it and she’ll see that all that unfounded fear she has will disappear.  Rocio doesn’t agree it’s unfounded fear because now it’s not only Camila’s presence that bothers her; it’s also the presence of “esa mujer”, Hissadora.  She dosen’t like it one bit that Cayetano is so close to her.  Admittedly, she feels insecure next to her.  Hissadora is beautiful…..and younger.  She doesn’t like the “friendship” that’s budding between her and Cayetano.  She’s got a bad feeling about it (me da muy mala espina).  Refugio just shakes her head.

Hospital
Mariano makes his pitch:  Camila thanks him again for saving her life.  “Tweren’t nothing ma’am,” he says.  “You saved my life!  How can it be nothing!?  If it hadn’t been for you, or Dionicio, who knows what could have happened.  You’re an angel.  How is it the Dionicio knew I was there?”  Mariano doesn’t know about Dionicio, but he (Mariano) was told by Roman.  Roman was the one who saw her being dragged to the bull crossing (pista).  Camila feels it’s as though they were heaven sent.  She is truly grateful.  Mariano can only hope she would feel something more than gratitude toward him.  Camila just stares at him and bats her eyes.  He takes a deep breath and says he needs to tell her:  “I want you to know that I’m in love with you.  I was ready to win your heart (conquistar), to fight for you.”  Camila can only shake her head and remind him that she loves Daniel.  Mariano admits he knows that but thinks if perhaps Daniel didn’t exist he’d have a chance that she would learn to love him.  “We have so much in common, we’d get along well.  The chemistry, the respect we have for each other and affection.”  Camila:  “You’re misinterpreting.   Daniel does exist and you know what I feel for him, no?”  Mariano:  “yes, but his deception also exists.  The truth is I don’t understand how you could go back to him after he seduced you based on lies.  Perhaps the lies for necessary but they were still lies and that’s what I don’t understand.  I would never do that to win the heart of a woman.  But, I respect your decision and see that now that you’re with him again, I have no hope.”  He excuses himself and Camila apologizes, calling him a true caballero.  Mariano:  “A caballero that arrived too late to fight for you, for your love.  I expect Daniel will value this great love you have for him and that he will make you happy.”  He kisses her forehead and leaves with his tail between his legs.  He meets Daniel in the hallway who also thanks him for saving Camila and for supporting him.  Mariano only asks him to make her happy.

Hospital Parking Lot
Yago has managed to get Natalia into his car.  They’re talking about Daniel’s identity and how she knew about it long ago but couldn’t say anything because his life was in danger.  She’s surprised Dionicio turned up to save Camila, considering he also wanted to cause her harm.  She explains she’s working for Dionicio in the hopes of uncovering evidence the Justice League can use.  Yago doesn’t want to talk about that anymore.  He wants to talk “about us” and those besitos he’s missed, and her smile.  “Tee-hee, are you serious?” she asks.  Oh she’s got it bad.  They start making out.

Inside, Mariano is with Cayetantonto and Pablo when he gets an urgent call.  He explains Ruth (Anna’s Granny) is in the hospital with pneumonia and is very ill.  She wants to see Anna before she dies so he’s gonna have to leave for Zacatecas immediately.  He’ll keep in touch with Pablo by phone.

In Camila’s room, Daniel and Camila speak about Alonsoloco.  Daniel doesn’t believe he’s acting alone.  It’s too much of a coincidence the Dionicio just “happened” to know exactly where she was, after they’ve sent all the ranch hands looking for her.  Camila obviously doesn’t want to think ill of someone who has risked his life to save someone else.  He did a good thing.  “Exactly!” says Daniel.  “He did this so that you would think of him as a hero and be eternally grateful for the rest of your life.  I don’t understand how you can be so naïve as to fall for his game.  Dion only wants you to see his good side.  You’re so good that at times it’s difficult for you to see the bad side of people.  You forget how much they’ve made you suffer.”  Camila:  “And thank God for that (not so subtle stab at how Daniel deceived her)  She thinks a person to risks his life for another can’t be as bad as everyone thinks.  People change.  Maybe he’s trying to change.”  Daniel can’t believe what he’s hearing and interrupts her:  “Dionicio – when he thought I was Andres – ask me to off Daniel!”  This is news to Camila and Daniel is forced to confess yet another truth!  He reminds her of the day they were vaccinating the cattle and he arrived with a photo of Aaron pretending to be Daniel.   Dionicio gave him that photo so he’d know who to kill.  He also arranged for target practice.  Agustina gave him permission to go because Dionicio had requested it.  Camila asks again why he keeps things from her.  Daniel denies it, saying he tells her on a need to know basis.  She starts to get up, insisting she wants to see Dionicio and wants to ask him if he had anything to do with her kidnapping.

Hot Seat in the Parking Lot
Natalia and Yago are getting hot and heavy when he sees Pops and Bro coming toward their car.  He quickly kicks her out of the car.  She gets out but not before telling him she loves him.  He just says, yeah, yeah, all while keeping an eye on the side mirror.  Mariano, Cayetano, and Yago leave and Natalia is left sneaking around between parked cars.  Open your eyes, chica!

Dionicio’s room
Camila walks in with Daniel close behind her, pushing along her IV drip.  So, Camila wants to know directly from him how he knew where she was?  Presenting the Tap Dance by Dionicio:  He was out walking, worried sick about her.  Suddenly he found a piece of her clothing!  Wow, then he saw signs that someone had been dragged and before he knew it he was in the bull crossing when he saw her!  Then, he left the basket of cookies for Granma…….oops sorry, wrong fairytale.  Anyway, that’s when he found her!  Agustina agrees he’s a hero!  She assumes they no longer doubt her husband’s innocence. Camila agrees insofar as the kidnapping is concerned.  Agustina can’t believe they can still doubt him for anything else, Don Dan’s letter perhaps?  “Exactly,” says Daniel. “Don’t claim victory yet, Dionicio.”  He and Dionicio exchange dagger eyes.

La Malquerida kitchen
The talk among the help is whether or not Alonso, as the new owner, will now kick them all out. Luzma mentions how Alonso will want to sell the ranch for the tourist development.  Pablo agrees they’ll probably all be out of work and this means they’ll have to postpone the wedding.  Nothing doing, says Piedad.  She’s got some money saved up to give her the wedding she’s always wanted.  Everyone says they’ll chip in but Pablo won’t hear of it.  They’ve all got to save their money for their own needs.   Luzma can’t believe Daniel and Camila would leave them unprotected.  She knows Camila well enough to know she wouldn’t allow Alonso to get away with that.  Camila loves this ranch and she won’t let it go that easily.

Hospital – Camila’s room
Daniel and Camila are back in her room and she apologizes to him for being so naïve.  Daniel confirms Agustina read Don Dan’s letter but unfortunately she only sees what she wants to see.  Camila’s very worried about her.  She’s married to an assassin and she just doesn’t want to see it.  He consoles her.

Jail
El LeonCerdosinLengua undergoes a DNA swab.  The tech is busy telling him off as he swabs his mouth.  “You’re disgraceful, raping your niece and leaving her pregnant.  That’s unforgiveable!  This DNA test will prove what you’ve done and you’ll spend the rest of your days in jail!  With all your crimes (delitos) you will never set foot outside the jail.”  I think everyone in Viewerville agrees this means he’s going to escape.  Yeah, maybe he’ll deliver the Anvil to Hissadora!

Camila’s Room
Daniel has hopped onto the bed and continues to console her.  Dionicio won’t harm Agustina because it would be like harming Camila.  She doesn’t want to talk about it.  He agrees and says everything that matters to him is right here.  She tells him of the nightmare she had two days before her wedding where she was running in her wedding gown, splattered with blood.  Wow!  Daniel had a similar dream!  He understands the feeling of impotence and frustration in that dream.  He reminds her that he and Miriam also had a tragic accident the day of their wedding when everyone fell through the acrylic floor.  Camila believes this means they were destined to be together!  They compare notes and discover their wedding dates were the same.  He’s not too sure but she’s certain they were destined to be together.  Fate meant for them to be together but they were delayed.  They must be together.  Fate has spoken.  Besides, she loves him.  Daniel repeats they will be together., always.  And he loves her too.  They share a kiss.  *sigh*

Waiting Room
Daniel comes in and tells them a nurse is with Camila.  Everyone is there:  The Justice League, Agustina, and Hissadora.  The Metepec Comandante walks in and announces they’ve found Alonso’s car!  It had gone over a cliff and exploded. Hissadora pretends to be concerned about her son.  “My son! What’s happened to my son!”  The Comandante is sorry to tell them Alonso wasn’t alone.  He was accompanied by Señorita Ximena.  Agustina is shattered!  She can’t believe her daughter could have gone with Alonso.  Daniel urges the Comandante to spit it out, no matter how bad the news may be.  The Comdante reveals that one of them was found burned to death in the car.  Agustina screams at him, “Who? My daughter, or Alonso?  Tell us once and for all who is dead and who is alive?”  Agustina is angustiada!

Bien hecho, Paquita.

Augustina is headed for some severe humiliation and pain down the road. I am also hitting the point of having no pity for her in her willingness to be deceived.

Here is hoping that Mariano backs off and spares himself more pain.

More later.

Really? They end it with a "Who shot JR" moment? If you remember that show, JR was in bed and everyone was asking who shot him, and they ended the season with him saying "It was... It was..." Then we had to wait until the next fall for the new season to start. And when the show started, they asked again, "Who shot you JR?" and after waiting the entire summer to learn who it was JR says, "It was...It was... too dark to tell."

Paquita, thanks for the marvelous recap, especially on Christmas day. Good vocabulary too--that's always appreciated.

I hope whoever lives is not horribly burned (i.e. like Barbara Greco in MEPS). I think that would be excessive punishment for either Alonso or Xi.

Paquita, great job as always. I was going to watch the show after reading the recap, but after reading it I don't think I want to. Not just because you do such a great job, but because it's too disappointing to see first hand.

Major beanie moment, I think the first real one I've had with this TN. The signing over the property to Al issue is so farfetched, I'm pulling my beanie down to my toes.

So they are leaving us with a cliff hanger of the greatest magnitude. I am praying it's Al who is still alive and signs over the property back to Dan.

I don't want to watch Cam liking Dion. I don't need to watch that.

I don't want to see Aggie defending her man and coming up with excuses for him, even though I knew she would do that and said so yesterday.

I don't want to watch Mariano tell Cam he loves her when he knows she loves Dan.

Would someone please look at Cam's clothes to see where that material came from and not just trust Dion here?

I don't need to see Natalia being mistreated by Yago again. Yawn.

Ok, I wouldn't mind seeing Cayatonto fawning over Isa and Isa slowly informing him of his wife's indiscretion.

OK, I'm back home and at my laptop, meaning I can write verbose comments once again (phones just aren't meant for that). :)

Thank you Paquita, and you Urban, for providing us such wonderfully detailed recaps over the holiday. You ladies went above and beyond.

As for the epi, Cathyx there were many good moments and it was a cliffhanger for sure. I wouldn't miss it.

Considering he's the one who took off his seatbelt, I'm betting it was Al who got thrown from the car. Plus, Xi no longer serves a purpose, while there is MUCH unfinished biz with Al.

The deal with the transfer of the MQ to Al is that the Justice League did not make a legal complaint BEFORE they did it. Therefor it's legal and Al (or Isa when/if he dies) can claim it. The gang didn't report the crime, so it's their fault-- really Dan's. It doesn't matter if he's a criminal. Being a criminal doesn't exclude you from owning land. Just like Dan could claim MQ while being a criminal on the run.

Now, for the parts of the episode I enjoyed or made me laugh:
-The way Gussy makes the country Chile sound like a curse word when she says it to Dan.
-Gussy's complete cluelessness as Dio creepily says he wants Cami to always be by his side. Eeeeww is right! Such a good thing Cami and Xi aren't young girls with a pedophile stepdad.
-Cami and Vivi hugging in the hospial room.
-Cami admitting she is naive and tonta after hearing Dio's weak story about finding her.

Really, I enjoyed all of the Cam and Dan moments, even their argument about her being too forgiving and trusting. She was right that Dan benefitted from that. But he was right too, and she quickly admitted her error, which was good.

I loved all the smooching scenes. I notice that CdlF often seems to get overheated in these close 1-on-1 scenes with SN, and he sweats. Instead of cutting the scene to powder him down, SN just wipes the sweat off his brow or upper lip and goes on with the kissing and canoodling scene naturally. It's a nice touch, and a very intimate gesture. I've noticed it a few other times before during their scenes.

About the dream...Cami starts out by telling Dan the worse part of the experience was thinking she would never see him again. She thought this because she had a dream that Al shot and killed him. This dream reminded her of the premonitory (premonitorio) dream she had right before she was to marry Luis and he died. That's when they started comparing their dreams before their wedding dates over three years ago (now more like four years, adding the months that have passed since Miriam was shot).

I notice in the dreams that they appear to be running towards each other, even as they are running away from some horrible bloody scene. Will they both eventually have a dream where they find each other along that road?

Although Gussy annoyed me with her attitude this episode, I can't help but feel bad for her because I'm sure it's going to be Xi who ends up dead. This will be a huge blow for Gussy. We also saw the reason why it was wise to keep her in the dark till now-- she tells Dio EVERYTHING. She's not to be trusted.

I forgot to add that I don't need to see Camila talking baby talk to Dan. Sorry Vivi, that drives me nuts.

I understand what they are saying about the signing over the property rights. I just don't buy it that it's as impenetrable as they are making it out to be. Police report or no. There are so many witnesses and goings on about what happened that to claim that because there is no police report filed that it will hold up as true is ridiculous. Kidnappers never want you to get the police involved if you want your loved one returned. So of course they won't report it to the police.

Paquita, a heroine for our times, to generously recap for us the hungry for a few scraps of telenovela sights and sounds on Christmas Day. Thank you for doing this episode. There was a lot of talk going on. (The only time there wasn't any convo was when Gussy was reading Don Dan's letter.) You did them all proud.

Ah, but Cathyx, you would miss some really tender scenes between Dan & Cam, as well as Dan trying to get her to accept Dio's perverse interest in her and his base evilness. The parts you have to close your eyes for are few.

I'm with you over the signing over the rancho. However at the time Os and Dan were talking about it, they didn't know Al had been in an accident. So technically he still has the signed papers. I'm surprised that both Al and Xi weren't burned to a crisp after that fabulous flaming explosion at the bottom of the cliff. Ok, beanie time after all, who parks their car facing the edge of a cliff with no guardrail when they only pulled off the road to argue--they would have been parallel to the road.

Pet Peeve: I'm getting increasingly annoyed by the changing color of Camila's hair. In the first hospital scene it was really dark, like at the beginning of the tn. Then the lighting makes it look lighter and that's how I like it on her. This goes on a lot in this episode, dark, then light. (Yes, I'm aware, like in any good movie, they do scenes out of sequence--I wonder if it was Silvia who insisted her hair get lighter as it went on.) Very small detail, but it's enough for me to grab my beanie, in an otherwise beanie-free novela.

I did like seeing Daniel playing with her hair during their scenes in the hospital.

Loved Dion's facial gesticulations while pretending to be incensed by Big Don Dan's accusations. Dion is as good an actor as Cesar!!

Cathyx- I think they can still have Al thrown in jail for the kidnapping, etc. with all the proof/witnesses they have. And as Osvaldo said, they can fight for the land in civil court. But all of that does not make a legal document void.

Anita- I didn't notice the hair color. Could it have just been the lighting? When SN is in sunlight, her hair looks more like her natural reddish color than the brown they dyed it for this role.

Paquita - Terrific recap. Thanks for the vocab and dichos.

Mariano's crossed over the line now. Unbelievable that he would confess his love and (in his gentlemanly way) trash-talk Dan to Camila right after her ordeal. And he used too much logic on why they would be good together. Logic has nothing to do with it.

If Al is the survivor, he's going to have a tough time making it out of a hospital alive. He has 0 allies, and Mommy Dearest would have free reign to visit him and use her pillow skills.

Nat hiding between cars after being tossed out in mid-smooch by Yago when his brothers showed up - my only laugh of the night. Girl, where is your dignity?

Thanks Paquita for an excellent recap. This was a very talky ep. And a belated thank you to UA for your awesome recap.

When I referred to whack job villains in one of my previous posts, I meant sociopaths. Isa is one of the worst I’ve seen. She not only has no conscience or feelings of remorse. She’s gleeful about killing (shudder!!!)

So Al technically owns La Malquerida. Which means that Isa now owns La Malquerida—unless Al is the body thrown clear, which makes sense, since his seatbelt was undone, like people have commented before.

Cayetano going to get what he deserves, fool.

Viewerville knows that Cam and Dan are destined to be together. What Mariano sees is a man who deceived her once and will likely do so again. I’m glad he admitted his feelings for her. I think he took the opportunity when he did, because she almost died and she would never have known how he felt like he needed her to know that.

Vivi: I also noticed the wiping of sweat off of Dan’s face.

Anita: I thought SN’s hair looked darker in those hospital scenes. I thought it might be the lighting. It looked like the ends were a lot darker than the top.

Thanks Paquita for doing the Christmas Special.

I am totally confused about the transfer of the rancho. Dan never saw Al and never gave him the transfer. Sort of like, making out a check but never mailing it. So the only way this would be legal is if the deed was filed with the equivalent of Property Records in the U.S. I also think both parties would have to sign. I guess Isa could sign them as Al's heir, if Al is truly chicharrones along with Xi. I too agree that Xi serves no purpose and is now gone.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for Augustina. She is so blind and refuses to see, she deserves to suffer.

Nanette- It makes sense what you say about why Mariano decided to tell Cami what he feels for her. I'm also glad he did it, because now it's out in the open and now he can (hopefully) move on...to Teresa(?) or someone else.

ITA about Cayetano. I'll add that Rocio is also getting what she deserves. He's a fool, and she's a hypocritical snob.

I also don't see how that document could hold up without both Dan's and Al's signatures before it's filed.

Osvaldo and Rafael could certainly go into court testifying that Dan was under duress to hand over the property. We can only hope that Hissadora doesn't have an opportunity to seduce the judge.

Did I miss something or why was Camila pacified about Dio being a bad guy after he explained how her found her? What did he say that gave him away?

And thank you Paquita delB for a fabulous recap.

What an episode. I thought both Ximena and Alonso were dead but now it seems one of them could be alive. If Alonso survives, Isadora would kill him again anyway like she did with Father Baldomero because she'd smother him with a pillow in a similiar way.

Now that Mariano has confessed his love to Camila (unsuccessfully) he'll have no choice but to move on. I admit he was getting on my nerves.

I loved the part where Leoncio was getting told off by the prison guy for raping Luzma. He is a pig.

Camila was right about the predestination part, she and Daniel are meant to be together. They were meant to be together. SN and CdlF act out their parts so brilliantly.

And did Daniel ever actually hand over the document? And if not, why is Alonso (and by extension Hissadora) even an issue? Sorry, I'm just not up to speed on these entanglements, but I'm sure some of you smart folks can set me straight. I am dazzled and a little intimidated by the quick wits and smarts of this gang of recappers and commenters. You guys rock! And thank you.

Daniel never handed the documents to Alonssso. Remember that Rafael told him over the phone specifically not to do this because they got Camila back.

As to what proof anyone needs now about El Diablo's involvement? Francisco saw her kissing the Devil. That is something he has yet to tell someone.

Urban- I think there is a step missing in your analogy.

Even though Dan did not hand over any documents to Al, the documents were still filed legally-- they still exist in the legal universe. I think Osvaldo said that all Al has to do is get himself to a notary to get a copy of the docs to claim the property. So it's not like Dan wrote a check and never sent it. It's like Dan wrote a check, sent it, and now has to hope Al doesn't cash it, that they can convince him not to cash it, or can force him to return it.

Found this answer on a site where someone asked about her dad transferring land he owns in Mexico to her:
“Transferring land in Mexico is normally a very easy process. If your father has clear title to the land, the transfer should only take 2 or 3 days. Yes, you can do it without going to Mexico. To do this, both you and your father should have to have a "Poder Notarial" issued by the Mexican Consulate. All property in Mexico is transferred by a special lawyer called a "Notario Publico". (Not to be confused with the US version of the Notary Public.)”

More info on Mexican Notary Publics (Osvaldo’s job):
In Mexico, the ONLY authority permitted to draft a deed transferring real property or an interest in real property is the Mexican Notary Public. This person is different from a notary public in the United States where a simple exam, a bond, and a rubber stamp can make a notary public out of most people. Nor is it similar to Canada’s Notary Public who must meet a few more stringent requirements to qualify. Not so many, however as the Mexican Notary.
The Notary Public in Mexico must be an attorney, must have a minimum of five years of practical experience in the profession, must pass a highly technical examination and then be appointed as a Notary Public by the Governor of the state in which he or she is working.
The number of Notaries Public depends upon the number of people in the state. A new Notary is appointed only as the population grows above a certain number.
The Mexican Notary Public has many duties, but one of the most important is the drafting of deeds for transfer of real property. Anytime a signature is required on a deed of transfer it must be made before the Mexican Notary Public.

This whole thing about the number of Notaries depending on the population in the state, now makes me understand why Osvaldo said that if he moves to another state in Mexico to help Amanda flee Dio, he won't be able to work as a notary anymore. He would have to instead work as a simple attorney. I now also understand why all the notaries they show in tns have a number. I forget what's Osvaldo's number-- it's just outside his office gates.

If this show continues on this track and the track that is usually followed in TNs, then Al will die but in his last breath tell a clue (Something like he breathlessly says 'email' or 'my email')that takes forever to figure out and Isa will get the ranch. Then everyone will know how awful she is, she won't need to hide it anymore, but no one can do anything about it until they figure out the clue and are able to prove her guilt.
And that's just my opinion, I have not seen ahead.

I'm guessing that when the police officer checks Brunos phone records they should be able to connect Isadora and Xi to the crime. I'm hoping. I agree with you lxv that this group is witty and insightful. Can anyone tell the average number of daily readers on this site? I know it has an international readership, but it would be interesting to know what the traffic is like.

Thanks very much, Paquita, for a great recap and some very helpful vocab. I especially appreciated your explanation of "Caras vemos..."

Loved "Cayetantonto" and "El LeonCerdosinLengua." Also "Then, he left the basket of cookies for Granma…….oops sorry, wrong fairytale."

Speaking of "El LeonCerdosinLengua," I'm afraid you're right when you say "I think everyone in Viewerville agrees this means he’s going to escape." As if there weren't already enough desgraciados running around.

Another thing I worry about is Natalia. Geez, girl, part of being a secret agent is keeping it SECRET, especially from an untrustworthy scumbag like Yago.

Cathyx, ITA about Camila's baby talk to Dan (and his to her). ¡Basta ya!

Thanks Vivi in DC, I knew I could count on you for the facts, ma'm. So the paperwork is already "in the system" thereby making it a done deal.

I'm still puzzled about our bull-headed Cami changing her mind about Dions culpability. And that business about a piece of cloth under a rock. Not getting this. Sorry to be such a pain. Anybody?

lxv- I think Paquita described well how false Dion's explanation of how he found her sounded. I think Cami just didn't buy it when he explained it, but just didn't want to push the issue there in front of Gussy.

Oh, and I really enjoy Dan's eye rolls of annoyance and exasperation. He's starting to compete with Max (Roberto Blandon) from Refugio.

To continue the check analogy-- Al still has to endorse the "check" (sign documents), but that doesn't change the fact that he can easily get his hands on the "check" already signed by Daniel if he wants to (by getting the registered docs from a notary).

But does that give Hissadora the right to claim it if Alonssso dies before he signs?

Paquita: Thanks for doing Xmas Day duty! Loved some of your lines and the translation of some of the words and terms.

This week:
"that Anvil’s gonna hurt a whole lot more, dude!"

"Agustina is angustiada!"

When I read "A born seducer (seductor nato); an incorrigible womanizer" I start to wonder. Hmmm. Are we sure Yago wasn't the milkman's or does he really take after Rocio, maybe? His pops is way too Mariano-ish and laid back.

That, I don't know. I can't wait to see what happens next, because I'm sure it's Al who made it from the car wreck. The question is, will he be conscious and able to make decisions? Will Isa be able to off him before he can reveal anything or sign anything (for or against the good guys)? Will he remember what happened? There are so many possibilities with this legal mess and with Isa gunning to get rid of Al and get her hands on MQ.

The one thing Dan didn't do out in the open, or that anyone referred to as having been done, was his actually taking possession of LaMalquerida. Was it enough for him just to step forward and say Yo Soy Daniel? His birth certificate from Chile came, we know that. Maybe that's all he needed, but it would have been nice for viewerville to see him actually take possession of the rancho in person.

Osvaldo apparently did all the paperwork behind the scenes. He handed Daniel the documents in a manila envelope which Dan had in his hands when he revealed himself to the folks in the living room. I tend to believe that Al's signature has to be ON those documents somewhere for it to be legal. However, since this is only a tn (this IS only a tn...only a tn...a tn), then we have to take Osvaldo's word that the transfer is already in the hopper and only Al's willingness to tear it up or give the ranch back will do.

Mama Kimodo had better hurry if she wants to get her hands on the ranch. Boy will Cayetano be surprised if she does!

Fun times if El LeonCerdosinLengua escapes. Isa will be the first person he will be looking up!

Rosemary Primera

(Shudder) Please don't mention that pervert getting free. Isa isn't the only person he would go after, and I really don't want Luzma to have to deal with that monster again. Pablo, Piedad, and Dan would also be on his list, along with Isa, Al and Dion.

Paquita thanks for your recap.

And thanks to all of you for explaining the legal gymnastics regarding the MQ ranch deed.

Thanks Paquita, you did great!!

I'm sure that since Alonzo survived we're going to be entertained ad nauseum with legal entanglements with the ranch.

I'm hoping that Isa gets her hands on Cayetano's ranch just long enough to expose him for being a sucker for a young attractive woman.

Hi Everyone!! I've been following your blogs since apprx ep 40. This is so helpful as I am watching this novela in hopes of getting better with my Spanish. You are all amazing and make me laugh. Love this show. Hoping that if Miriam is alive (as I think she might be...)she will end up with Mariano? I think he's sweet and his eyes were extra sparkly and blue last night. Big fan of Cam and Dan!! Keep up the great work!

Another great recap! Thanks so much, Paquita, especially for doing holiday duty. Very much appreciated.

A few random comments and questions:

All I noticed about Camila’s hair is that it was magicallly fluffed and styled from the braided ‘do she had when kidnapped. Did they let her shower and give her a blow drier when she checked into the hospital? And how come they have never let me do that when I show up at a hospital? Also, I thought she looked even more gorgeous than usual in her hospital bed. How come I would look like a starved rat if I have just been kidnapped and abused for a couple of days? And how come she is hospitalized at all, other than as an in-your-face plot device?

Isa. That necklace is a fashion no-no IMHO, but I did like the coat she was wearing for the double murder. If it were me, I would have a hard time dressing for that occasion.

Major production foul up re. Isa’s vehicle. She most definitely left the ranch in a sedan and than magically was driving a SUV to push around Alonso’s rather beefy SUV. Must have been some kind of TN pixie dust or something.

Major police boo boo trampling all over the tire track evidence and hoof prints of Isa at the cliff top murder scene. Unless that TN pixie dust also does body work, the front end of that SUV would be pretty dented in, too. Have the these cops ever watched CSI?

Is it possible that the bolsa with the cell phone records in it survived the crash and burn? Was it thrown clear along with Al? He was grabbing the purse from Xi just before they went over the cliff. It could be returned to next of kin and Cam-n-Dan could find the papers. It seems too big of a deal was made of exactly where the papers were or them to just burn up.

Does that ambulance guy with the curly hair ever get a day off? He’s been on every (I think) collection run this crew has needed (and there have been quite a few). Really. I am pretty sure of this. At least he got a couple of lines this time.

Does Gussy remind anyone else of Edith Bunker?

And last but not least, when is that hay barn with the candle left burning in it going to burst into flames?
