Amor Bravío #106 (Uni 101) Wed 1/16/13 “A Bottle of Wine and a Bottle of Tears”

Old News in El Pueblo

Luzma’s School:  Luzma and Irena walk along chatting about her upcoming boda.  She is pleased that the principal is being so understanding about her taking time off from school. Irena tells Luzma she has earned the principal’s generosity.  Suddenly, Pablo pops up at the school for reasons yet unclear causing Luzma to ask" what's up?".  He tells Luzma that all is well again at La Malquerida, that Camila and Dan are owners again and that they want her to return to the ranch.  Happy hugs all around.  Pablo is seen talking on the phone with big bro Mariano about the news at the ranch.  They agree they have no love lost with the owner-for-a-day Isadora.  More to the point, the brothers wonder why she and Cayetano are hanging around together.  Something is fishy in the family.

Dio’s Office:  Sr Esteves (I think this is the bad guy investor’s name) is PO’d that Dio and Isa, majority partners in the not-happening tourist attraction, have “lost the battle” for La Malquerida.  He threatens that they better fix it or suffer the consequences.  Dio is trying to tell him that crazy (ese demente) Al betrayed all of them.  Who knew that a rat could rat out another rat? Sr Esteves doesn’t much give a rat’s a$# about this explanation.  Bottom line is that Dio and Isa, better fix it or they will have to pay everybody back for their investments and be sued for fraud and end up jail (with fellow rat LeoSordido).  Sr Estevez leaves and Dio Rat slams his fist on the desk, steam spitting out of both ears and his mouth.

Lic.Becerra’s Office:  Osvaldo is propped up at his desk signing a pile of papers.  Marguerita tries to get him to take it easy, but Osvaldo is on a mission to set up the proper ownership of the ranch paperwork for Dan and Camila.  No time to waste exterminating the rats from El Rancho!  There is a knock followed by a visit from PC Juarez.   Osvaldo gives him the good news that before crazy Al died he redeeded the ranch to Camila and Dan.  PC Juarez is pleased.  He then asks Osvaldo if he knows who Rosario, the IC nurse, caregiver and real bio mom to Al is.  Sure, Osvaldo says Rosario is the one who delivered the papers on Al’s behalf.  PC Juarez tells informs him that she was also Al’s angel of death who delivered an overdose (sobre dosis) of potassium that caused his heart attack..  Que?  Osvaldo is dumbfounded with this news.

New News of El Pueblo

Courtyard of La Malquerida:  Dan and Camila meander down the steps, Camila wiping chocolate off Dan’s hands, and they talk about Agustina returning to the ranch.  Yup, Agustina never liked Dio’s house and always felt alone,  with no pictures on the walls and all.  They wonder how Agustina will feel when she figures out who the REAL Dio is (like the current one is some kind of prize, mm hmm!).  Dan reassures Camila that when the Dio dung hits the fan, he will be there at Camila’s side to protect and defend the ladies in distress.  Rodolfo approaches to announce that Viv and friends are awaiting them in the sitting room.  Camila wonders how they knew that she and Dan were back at the ranch?  The pair run off to greet the guests, but not before Dan rearranges Rodolfo’s neck scarf.

Back at Lic Becerra’s Office:  PC Juarez tells Osvaldo that Rosario relayed Al’s accusation that Isa was involved with Padre Baldomero’s death.  PC Juarez also mentions that he visited LeoSordido in jail and although Leo cannot talk, he may be able to help them when he is able to write.  PC Juarez has decided to open a deeper investigation against Isa with all these accusations piling up like crazy.  Osvaldo tells him to go for it and to try to find justice.  PC Juarez has one little problem, however, he cannot seem to locate Isa.  He calls her cell and no one answers.  Osvaldo says to look for Cayetonto if he wants to find Isa (as subtle as their “friendship” is at this point) because they have become BFFs.  PC Juarez agrees and remembers they were together at Al’s wake (velorio).  PC Juarez also tells Osvaldo that Dan has no worries where the law is concerned – no charges in Mexico or Chile- and is officially a free man.  Good news for our currently ranchful couple.  Osvaldo adds that he thinks that the attack he suffered on the street in front of his office was premeditated and he wants to make a formal declaration.  PC Juarez tells him to drop by the station and do it.

Living Room at La Malquerida:  The friends Dan, Camila, Viv, Rafa, and Aaron are gathered together having a rollicking good time together.  It turns out that it was Padre Anselmo that told the friends that Dan and Camila were now ranchful and had returned to La Malquerida.  The friends decide to toast to the good news and happy end to this part of the tale.  Camila insists that they cannot just toast to any old vino, but to “senora botella de vino” which must mean that it is wine with a cork and not a screwcap.  She goes to get it.  Meanwhile Rafa surmises to Dan that Camila must be happy to have the ranch back.  Yes, Dan agrees, but he says they are not yet in the clear.  He explains that Dio and Isa secretly signed the docs to turn the ranch over to Sr Estevez and they already had the excavating machines at the gate that same day.  All the while they were trying to make Al look like the guilty party.  Dan suspects they have not stopped trying to get what they want, the ranch.  Rafa wonders how, now that they have little leverage.  Au contraire, says Dan, Dio being married to Agustina gives him “an in” and as long as dopey Agustina believes in him, he can hang around la MQ plotting.  Aaron suggests they need to unmask Dio to Agustina  for her longterm safety (because being a dismissive and verbally abusive jerk isn’t enough).  Dan adds, this is essential for the safety of Amanda and Nat too.

El Zocalo of El Pueblo:  Nat walks the sad streets of el pueblo crying and running the memory film reel of past encounters with Dio before she knew he was Dad Dio.  She sits on the step of La Plazita and cries.  No puede ser!  All of Dio’s gushy gabbing and Dan’s worried warnings are making sense, al fin.  Nat comes up with a bright idea, or, at least, a bright phone.  She calls Yago who is happy to hear from her, assuming it means nearby Nat nookie.  No, Nat needs nurturing.   She needs to talk.    Whoa, no can do, says Pogostick Yago who is suddenly busy with work and just cannot make the time to talk until he is done with, said,  important business.  They hang up and Nat is alone on the sad streets of el pueblo.

Back at the Living Room of LaMQ:   All the friends have gathered and Camila starts to pour some wine and tell the story behind this wine.   This is a story just like a telenovela says Camila.  This is not just any wine, but wine from la Valle de Guadalupe de Ensenada where there once lived two people who were in love and faced many obstacles but survived the obstacles and so their love survived.  The two lovebirds happen to be Geronimo and Renata (and the background music plays a short clipped version of “Cuando Me Enamore”) which is a little nod to the recently retired TN that Ms Navarro recently starred in prior to our current TN.   All those in viewerville who followed TN CME have a quick trip down memory lane and those who did not are wondering WTQ?  Our friends keep making up toasts: one to those who are no longer on planet earth (Ximena and Al), those who were victims of others no longer on planet earth (Miriam and unborn child) and to those who are still on planet earth but are acting like angels (ie Padre Anselmo among others).  Last, the happy couple makes the announcement that we are all waiting for; Dan and Camila will be getting married the following Saturday.  Why not, they are now both widows (viudos).  Scene finishes with Dan asking Camila to “da le un beso por ese vato” – yes, give that guy a kiss Camila!

Kitchen of La MQ:  Piedad and Pablo arrive at the kitchen and Piedad and Dorotea are happy to see them.  Pablo bids Luzma, his cachorrito (some kind of endearing name like puppy or little budgy bear, etc.)  goodbye to return to work.  Piedad tells Luzma that the good news is everything is back to normal at the ranch.  A knock on the door and old friend from the old neighborhood, Hipolito,  enters bearing a wedding gift for Luzma.    Piedad is surprised to see him before Saturday and Luzma is surprised to see him at all.  Hipolito is honored to have been invited to the wedding of his good, but deceased, friend Fidencio.   Piedad fusses over him about sitting down and eating - which is noticed by Luzma.   Hipolito says he is plenty hungry and if Piedad can still cook like before, he will be eating and licking his fingers.  Luzma isn’t too sure about this new fellow (ese tipo) and worries that her mother has suffered much for love.  Dorotea  counsels Luzma that she will be marrying Pablo soon and her mother also has the right to find happiness again.

Back in the Living Room of LaMQ:  Our friends are toasting and toasted and Viv offers to help Camila find a wedding dress.  Suddenly it occurs to Camila that she doesn’t have a dress and she play scolds Dan for asking her to marry him without her having a wedding dress.  Dan, befuddled by his dearly beloved’s change in temperament, offers to postpone the wedding.  No way, answers Camila.  She is getting married in a checkered shirt and jeans if she has to, but they are getting married all the same.  Agustina comes in and inquires as to the reason for all the good cheer besides having recovered the ranch.   The mirth subsides ever so slightly as Dan say, yes, the other good news is that he and Camila are getting married on Saturday.  He was planning to formally ask Agustina for Camila’s hand in marriage at some point.  Agustina is not pleased and the mirth dies completely as she announces that a marriage between them would be a grave error (un gravisimo error).

Hotel in El Pueblo:  Isa walks out of the hotel room’s bathroom shamelessly putting eye drops in her eyes. There is a knock at the door – it is Cayetonto- and she opens it and bursts into prebottled tears.  She reaches for him and tells him she needs him soooo much.  She goes in for a hug and pulls him closer – the camera moves in on Cayetonto’s blank expression that quickly flickers to the “daddy’s got the hots” expression.  He gives her a little extra squeeze.

Living Room of La MQ:  Camila tries to explain to Agustina that she and Dan are profoundly in love with each other.  Viv, showing good taste, attempts to excuse herself and the other BFFs.  Camila stops them saying they are there to celebrate.  Dan persists with Agustina and wonders why she still has a problem with him; after all, he is not the “nobody” bastardo chofer she thought he was before (tan poca cosa).  Agustina replies that they have known each other for so little time and that their relationship was built on lies.  She adds the jab that even though Camila knew Al for three years, look at how that turned out.  Camila says Al fooled everyone, not just her, but Uncle Dan and Agustina as well.  And furthermore, Camila adds that Agustina is out of place (fuera del lugar).  Agustina says that Dan lied about who he was too.  Dan defends himself saying that the circumstances for his deception were different and that it was due to his mistaken beliefs.  After the truth was clarified, Dan adds, he fell in love with Camila and has proven in a thousand ways how he truly loves Camila.   Camila reminds Agustina that she married Dio after knowing him only a few months.  Agustina-Self-Justina protests that Dio has always been completely honest with her – to which Viv and Viewerville cannot refrain from rolling eyes.  Besides, adds Agustina, Ximena and Al have just died.  To no avail, Camila attempts to explain to Agustina that it is time to find happiness and that to do otherwise will not bring the deceased back.  She tells her that she would be happy if Agustina were happy for them, sad if she is not, but that she will be marrying Dan, regardless.

Hotel Room:  Isa is still sobbing, Cayetonto swears unconditional loyalty and Isa proceeds to tell him the “details according to Isa”.

Somewhere City in Chile:  Comandante Abraham Farca holds a business card and makes a call.

Patio Walkway of LaMQ:  Agustina is on the phone complaining to Dio that Camila and Dan are planning to be married.  Dio is PO’d (up to this point he is having a bad day) and insists Agustina must prevent this from happening.  She agrees and urges Dio to meet her at home where they talk calmly about this “pending catastrophe”.  Kiss! Kiss! and she hangs up.  Omar is taking a phone call while Dio is talking to Agustina.  Dio hangs up and Omar tries to give him the phone.  Dio is far too PO’d to take the call and Omar takes a message from a Comandante Abraham Farca.  Commander Abe needs to speak to Dio urgently.

Living Room at LaMQ:  On the girls’ side of the room Viv and Camila commiserate about Agustina’s sour attitude about their pending marriage.  Camila admits that try as she might, Agustina’s attitude troubles her.  They agree that Agustina is influenced by Dio and they know how Dio feels about Dan.  Viv assures Camila that Dio will make a mistake and Agustina will discover that he is not just a dismissive, verbally abusive jerk, but a philandering swindler too.   Camila also admits that she is very fearful about getting married (muerto de miedo).  Que?  Viv cannot understand why. Camila explains that she is afraid to have expectations (expectativos) about being happy after all that has happened to her and those she loved.  Viv tells her to look at the light, appreciate she has struggled hard for what she has now and to go enjoy it.  Camila lightens up and asks Viv about Rafa.  Viv tells her all is well in their loveland.  On the boys’ side of the room, Aaron tells Dan that Padre Anselmo is enthusiastic about developing the selfsustainable community.  Aaron has also recently spoken to the local ranchers who are also supportive of the idea.  Dan agrees that he is on board with the project and wants to support a better country and better world (un pais y mundo major).  Here! Here!

Hotel Room in El Pueblo:  Isa finishes her tall tale to Cayetonto.  She claims she was humiliated and treated like she was a piece of garbage.  She wonders if his offer of his attorney’s services still stands.  She needs to see if this new will that allowed Camila and Dan to  kick her booty off the ranch is valid or if it can be shown that Al was pressured to sign it.  Por supuesto que si, Cayetonto reassures Isa.  She has his support and adds that even if she doesn’t get the ranch back (after all, it will always be associated with the Monterde family name) he will be certain Isa doesn’t walk away empty-handed.  Isa thanks him, tells him she doesn’t feel so alone and places a kiss on his cheek.  She tells him how important he is to her.  The door closes behind him and Isa cuts the crap – she call Cayetonto an imbecile and mimics his telling her that the ranch will always be associated with the Monterde family.  She comforts herself by thinking that Cayetonto will unwittingly help her win her guerra!

Firepit by the Lake at LaMQ:  Camila and Dan are sitting by the fire preparing to roast wieners - well sort of.  She tells him how much this place means to her.  The lake is the first place she saw him and fell in love with him.  We are treated to the film of Dan swimming  in his skivvies, in the water at the lake.  Many in Viewerville are in very solid agreement with Camila about having verrryyy fond memories of seeing Dan at that time, yessirreee.  They reminisce, it starts to rain and he carries Camila back to house to roast wieners - well sort of.

El Hostel:  Amanda and Osvaldo are sitting together catching up on the news about Nat’s reaction to the news that Dio is dad.  Amanda is appreciative of Osvaldo’s kindness and Osvaldo reassures her that there is no need for her to be grateful.  He will always be by her side.  Camila and Dan arrive and Amanda tells them that she has told Nat that Dio is dad.  Dan reassures Amanda that Nat is a good person and will come to terms with it and reconcile with Amanda.  Osvaldo fills Dan and Camila in on the other news from PC Juarez; namely, that Rosario was the one who killed (euthanized, really) Al according to his request.  Caras impactadas!

Jail in El Pueblo:  Rosario reports to jail.  She is given prison garb and a haircut, is fingerprinted and photographed while she thought bubbles.  She reasons that the twenty years of imprisonment for premeditated murder will be worth it just to have heard Al call her his real mother.  She tells her heavenly father  that she knows she should regret what she did, but, in truth she does not.

El Hostel:  The gang is still processing the news that Rosario euthanized Al.  Osvaldo adds that Rosario told PC Juarez that Isa offered her money to kill Al and that PC Juarez has initiated an investigation against Isa but cannot find her.   Like everyone else, Dan suggests they look for Cayetonto if they want to find Isa.  In other news, Osvaldo tells Dan that he has been cleared of all charges in Mexico and Chile although he and Dan wonder why no one followed up on the original charges against Dan in Chile.  Dan reasons that Dio is probably behind this mystery in Chile, in some way, perhaps offering a bribe (soborno) to someone when Dio was in Chile.

Dio’s Office:  Isa saunters in after her other important engagement.  She complains that her phone keeps ringing over and over again - PC Juarez keeps trying to reach her.  Dio tells her that Dan and Camila are planning to get married.   Isa takes the opportunity to needle Dio by saying that the news about his secret fantasy girl has gotta hurt.  Dio does not appreciate the needling.  He growls at Isa that he is not in the mood for this, particularly because Sr Estevez is threatening to put the two of them in jail for not delivering the ranch to the investors.

El Hostel:  The group is discussing the lack of evidence against Dio.  Camila remembers that before Al died, he told her he had someone looking for the phone records between Julian and Dio.  Osvaldo offers to find out who Al might have asked to do this.  Amanda mentions the copy of Julian’s passport that she has, showing his visa dates when he visited Chile.  They all agree they must hurry to get the evidence together, soon, because Dio is a dangerous guy.  Changing the topic and tone, Camila and Dan tell Osvaldo and Amanda why they really visited the hostel – to tell them they were getting married.  Happy looks and tears abound – Amanda tells Dan his mother would be proud of him for being with Camila.  Dan asks Amanda to stand in place of his mother at the wedding.    Happy, happy love and smiles all around!

Dio’s Office:  Isa tells Dio that they need to move to Plan B.  Que?  Yup, Plan B for Buenaventura, Isa cackles.  Dio tells her to dream on, that she is fantasizing.  Isa assures Dio she is not fantasizing and that she believes Cayetonto will leave Rocio when he discovers her infidelity with Don DanSr.  Isa says she has proof in some letters that she found at LaMQ and that she will need Dio’s help getting the letters back.  Dio offers his help, but points out that Cayetonto is un viejo.  Yup, agrees Isa, but adds that the older they are, the sooner they die.  How convenient!  Isa says Cayetonto will only live long enough to please her (we assume she refers to her ambition, not her libido).  Dio chuckles over Isa’s calculating plans.  He adds  his own plan to plant an epidemic at LaMQ in order to shake things up and recuperate the ranch for himself.  They hug in mutual satisfaction over their future plans and Dio thought bubbles over Isa’s shoulder that “we” is really “me”.  Dio only has plans for “me and Camila”.

Happy recap reading and CME reminiscing for former followers.

This seemed to end up a long recap and tomorrow I will catch up on any spelling hiccups and such. I was wondering what this epidemic story is about that Dio is mentioning?

Good stuff, Mena. My favorite lines:

No time to waste exterminating the rats from El Rancho!

There is a knock at the door – it is Cayetonto- and she opens it and bursts into prebottled tears.

Agustina-Self-Justina protests that Dio has always been completely honest with her – to which Viv and Viewerville cannot refrain from rolling eyes.

Remember that earlier in the series Camila was busy making sure that the cattle were all vaccinated against some highly contagious disease. Since this series has the same producers and writers as CME where there was a blight in the vineyard, this is clearly a favorite plot point with them.

Abraham calling El Diablo can't mean anything good.

Augustina is headed for her fall. I wonder when the retirement scam will finally be uncovered.

Great work Mena! Wine and tears indeed, although I think Natalia was the only one shedding sad tears this episode.

Gussy has reached new heights of foolishness. There are so many anvils awaiting her right now—finding out that Dio is a crook as everyone has told her; finding out Dio was married to Amanda and fathered Nat; finding out Dio is obsessed with her daughter; and the life insurance scam that she’s been pulled into by Dio. Her fall won’t be pretty, but her foolishness (not evilness) is what will make it happen, and that’s just sad.

I so enjoyed the amigos hanging out, having fun, and drinking special wine from La Bonita, as well as the trip down Memory Lane with Renata and Jeronimo. My favorite little bit of conversation was Cami and Vivi—Vivi telling Cami to “disfrutar” her relationship with Dan, and Cami giving Dan the bedroom eyes and saying she is definitely doing just that (that very afternoon in fact). How could she not, when Dan is so pretty (bonito), and perfect, and perfectly delectable to women, while look at plain Jane her. This is funny since she has had four men gaga for her, while the line of women trying to get into Dan’s pants is not that long (surprisingly). Nat got over her crush on him pretty quickly. Of course, most of us suspect the real triangle will involve Miriam.

Speaking of, I am not happy that Abe’s first instinct was to call Dio. Not happy at all. It looks like Dio and Isa are in divide and conquer mode—she’ll work on stealing BV from Cayetonto, and he’ll work on destroying MQ (I guess with the aim of forcing them to sell). But they are fooling themselves if they think this is Plan B. They’ve had to change tactics so often, this is more like Plan J (for Just give up already!).

I felt so sad for Chayo. She is the last person in this tale who deserves to be in jail. But I guess the law is the law. I at least hope that she is safer from Isa behind bars.

Second fave scene was the fire by the lake. Cam didn’t say it was the first time she fell in love with him. She kept it real and admitted it’s first time she saw his “cuerposito” (his hot bod) and realized that he “moved things within her” (made her horny). Then Dan says, well let’s both get in the lake and “move a few more things”; she protests that it’s raining; he says they’re going to get wet anyway; she says but it will be cold; his answer is to pick her up and carry her off to the lake (I’m sure he’ll find a way to keep her warm). Ay yay yay and a double dose of uff!

Great work Mena, as usual.

re Abe; I'm not that worried about his call to Dio-- Dio is the only connection he has so far from Mexico and from his perspective Dio appeared a decent guy when he met him.

I don't beleive that Abe is evil or even bad for that matter; I think he loves his sister very much and is very protective of her. He had used his position to jail Dan without Due Process but I don't think he did it with bad intentions; rather he did it to protect Miriam.

On the other hand, I think Dio will be the one "attempting" to use the Chile connection to a point to get his objective but once Abe realizes that Dio is a conniving snake; he'll put a stop to it.

Love the shout to Renata & Jeronimo!

I want to feel bad/pity for Augustonta, but I can't. Everything about her bothers me even her "conditional" love for Cam and Ximena.

The law is the law; I get that, but it's unfair that Chayo is jailed while Isa is still free fake crying her eyes out to her next victim.

Myo-

Thank you Mena! Among my faves: "nearby Nat nookie" and "Agustina-Self-Justina"

So what's cookin' between Dio and Abram? What secret pact do they have? Hmmmm

I love the chemistry between Camila and Dan. They seem to really enjoy working together which makes their scenes so enjoyable to watch.

Ay, Agustina!! Tsk, tsk, tsk. Open your eyes, mujer. She will surely rue the day she criticized Dan.

Renata, I agree with you insofar as Abe being ignorant of who Dionisio really is. We don't know the extent of El Diablo's activities in Chile, but since he does have those multiple passports it's likely he's been there on more than that one occasion. It's just that he and Abe haven't crossed paths over anything else.

Having said that, I think Abe is sick. His current behavior is not that of an honest policeman, which he probably was before Miriam married Daniel. He has some kind of sick obsession about her or why isn't he married with kids by now?

I also have no pity for Augustina. I don't know if I will laugh when she finds out the truth about Dionisio, but she damn well better apologize to Camila for treating her so badly about Daniel.

As it is, I still think that Camila and Daniel should keep Dionisio out of La Malquerida even without knowing his plans for starting an epidemic in the herd. He will have to hire someone to do that in the middle of the night because the workers there have demonstrated absolute loyalty to Camila and Daniel.

"Ranchful couple" Hilarious! It's a great adjective for a novela; it just makes sense.

TN4ever

Thank you, Mena. I had trouble getting a good internet feed last night-- wasn't home -- and missed scenes here and there.

I think psychologists call what Agustina is up to projection. All of her feelings, deep down they may be, about Dio not being the person she thought he was are projected onto Daniel. A sad end in store for her, which is too bad for Camila as she loves her mother.

Vivi - Saw CdlF on Hoy yesterday, and you are right. Amazing there hasn't been more competition for the ladies' attention. Even more attractive when he smiles, which he has not had enough reason to do in this TN.

Rosario is paying a price for her misdeed, that's for sure. Her aloneness -- no family, friends or Padre there for her.

Someone else commented yesterday about the Padre not accompanying Rosario to the police station, but it seems to me she wouldn't ask him to or may have chosen to go alone.

She probably feels she deserves that.

It does seem that Chayo decided to hitch up her big girl pants, and go it alone. I think she has been incredibly brave since she made the decision to turn herself in and tell the police all that Al told her before she killed him.

I agree with the comment yesterday about Comandante Juarez. He will find a way to get her off even if it takes till the end when all the proof about the crimes of Hissadora, El Diablo, and Alonso come to light.

Viv Bottles of wine and tears refers to the bottle of tears isa used. Also thanks for bringing up the insurance scam anvil. I almost forgot about that as Aggie has been busy in everyone else s business rather than this one.
UA. Sadly I am with you now and have little sympathy for Agustina.

Mena- Ah! Now I get it. :) Love it!

Funny, I didn't think it bad that Padre A. Wasn't with her for the turn in. That seemed right some how given that she had such guilt on so many scores -- rightly or wrongly. It was seeing her in the cell, her hair cut, her dignity diminished, that made her seem like such a tragic figure and such a solitary one. Maybe her nursing skills will be put to use or our Juarez can help get her sentence reduced. Given the reference to euthanasia being illegal in Mex. and therefore not everywhere, perhaps the writers were foreshadowing some leniency.

I wonder if she would even be permitted to work in the prison hospital or clinic in view of why she is there. Pobrecita.

Thank you Mena. Comcast switched my service to all digital, and I had to get an adapter to watch, and now I'm not able to record the episodes unless I do it at the time it airs. I HATE COMCAST!!! So thank you for the recap. I missed some dialog watching it online.

I knew Isa was going to go for Buenaventura next. And off the old man to get it too. She would also need for him to change his will so that his son's don't inherit it.

Ab will probably tell Dion that Miriam is still alive and it will halt the wedding, of course. That's what Dion wants to stop.

I feel bad for Aaron being a third wheel. If I can't have Dan, then I'll take Aaron.

I feel so sorry for Rosario. Hers is a tragic story from beginning to end.

Thanks Mena! This was a great read!

Collective goosebumps arose when they started playing that CME music, I'm sure. That scene was amazing! Then to be followed with another Hipolito/Laz sighting. Thank you writers!

I am getting such a kick out of Isadora. Yesterday when she was thumbing through that magazine while telling her sob story, and then those eye drops today. LOL

Off to watch the second half.

Oh, and the look on Vivi's face when Aggie proclaimed that Dio has always been honest. These actresses are all so dang good!

cathyx - I hate Comcast too. I was talking to them about a problem I was having with my emails and they kept trying to sell me phone service. Wouldn't you think they'd let it go given my obvious frustration level at the time? Still, that just doesn't sound right about the recording. Keep on 'em about it.

I usually hate the villains and don't even want to watch their scenes, but I love the villains in this show. Or at least enjoy their scenes. I don't know if it's because the good guys will win once in a while and the villains have to start over, but it probably is. I love watching Isa and Dion. They think they are smarter than the rest, they think their plans will work, and then they get thwarted.

Hissadora is something else, isn't she? Although she's not quite up there with Carlota of ENDA in terms of evil.

Rosemary, it's because I have the analog tv and a vcr. They want me to upgrade to a new tv and a dvr or tivo. I don't want to shell out the money right now to do that. But I'm furious that they are doing everything short of making it completely impossible to use my vcr to record, but they are almost there.

Thanks so much, Mena, for another superb recap. Among my favorite lines were "Nat comes up with a bright idea, or, at least, a bright phone" and, of course, Isa's "burst[ing] into prebottled tears." I have a question about one phrase that you quoted: "da le un beso pore se vato." Can you or anyone else tell me what "pore se vato" means?

Vivi, I loved your remark about "plan J (for Just give up already!)"

Myo, I wish I shared your optimistic take on Abraham, but his abysmal treatment of Daniel and his hiding himself (and perhaps Miriam) away afterwards makes me fear that he's a slimeball, and that his call to Dio will result in more bad things happening to the Good Guys.

As for Agustina--I can't wait for her to get her comeuppance. I had sympathy for her at first, but her willful blindness is causing increasing pain to Camila (not to mention to those who invested with her). Moreover, she tells Dio everything, making her even more dangerous, even if inadvertently. Blech. I hope Natalia stops channeling her.

Juanita- It's "ese vato" (this dude). "Give this dude a kiss." Cami and Vivi called Dan "El Vato" when Cami kept running into him everywhere and didn't know who he was. He was just that cute dude that was always flirting with her.

Cathyx, I share your unhappiness about the changes Comcast has made. I too was very disappointed to find that I could no longer record one show while watching another. Fortunately, I have more than one TV, so when I need to, I watch on one set and tape something else on the set connected to the VCR. I've got my VCR set to record at 10 every week night, and I simply make sure that I've got that TV set to Univision before 10.

Like you, I have no wish to shell out a lot more money to upgrade my TV and my Comcast service, and at least for now I'm more or less content with my old TV and my VCR.

Vivi, muchas gracias for your help with the Spanish phrase!

Thanks, Mena, great recap.

How neat was that CME nod? At first I thought we might get to see the bottle with Renata's silhouette then remembered that was Agustin's brand. Pity... that would have been cute.

Carlos

I wonder why Cayetano hasn't asked Isa about the pressing info she had that would change his life.

Didn't Camila say she wanted to get married in jeans? The outfit she had on today would have been perfect: light cream colored jeans and a white flowing top. It looked so cute on her after all the plaid.

Oh Carlos! That would have been awesome!

RlaO- Why hasn't Cayetonto asked that follow-up question? Because Little Cayetonto is running the show and has used up the blood flow and oxygen that would be going to his brain.

Yeah, Cami said if she can't find a wedding dress by next Saturday, she'll just get married in her jeans and flannels, but Dan was not going to escape that easily. They were being so cute in that scene.

Loved the CME moment. At first I thought how cool they’re using the CME theme and then I remembered that someone had mentioned awhile back that there was going to be a CME hommage.

Iago is a sh*t.

Was Nat thinking of all the nice things that Dio had done for her? Not good.

I know that Isa is a sociopath and, therefore, extremely dangerous. But I think that once Cayetano realizes he’s been used, she’d better watch her back. He’s powerful and if he knows he’s been made a fool of, he’ll be dangerous.

Time to work to get Rosario out of jail. I really hate to think that she’d have to stay there for a long time.

Love the little bit of business Dan did by straightening Rodolfo’s tie.

Gussie was a big buzz kill. Did she actually say that Dio had never lied to her? Poor deluded thing. Well deluded anyway.

Now to the recap and comments.

Nanette

I think that Dio is going to have Abraham reveal Miriam is alive to stop Cam/Dan's marriage.

Nanette, I too am unhappy that Rosario is in jail. But as someone else noted earlier, she may be safer there than anywhere else right now: I suspect that Hissadora would love to add Rosario to her string of corpses. After all, Rosario could testify about Hissadora's offering to bribe her to kill Alonso, and also about Alonso's claims that Hissadora wanted him dead.

Loved the title! Issy knew she needed to lay it on thick for Cayatono this time.
Poor Augustina, she probably thinks that Dio is probably finally taking her seriously, sharing her concerns about Cam marrying Dan.
I am worried that Rosario may not suffice as witness to Al's paperwork. Mexican law seems full of formalities and multiple witnesses and such. Still, Os knows TN law and if he's not worried...
Speaking of technicalities, though, don't widows and widowers have to produce a death certificate to get a marriage license? Even if Abe doesn't spill to Dio that Miriam's alive (and if she isn't, then I have absolutely no clue why he went underground), how can Dan marry without proving that she's dead?

As for Abe, I doubt he knows Dio has evil intent towards Dan. What story did Dio give to explain needing to see Dan in the prison?
Surely Dio, who had never told the truth to a cop in his life, wouldn't have started with Abe. Even if Dio can smell a dirty cop a mile away, I don't think Abe would have stunk that way. He's not conventionally corrupt: whatever he is doing in hiding, it has to be some twisted personal thing, not just greed.
I think Abe really isn't sure whether Dan is alive and is reaching out to Dio since, for some reason he is out of official contact with his own (former?) department and can't just ask officially.
I assume Abe is in hiding to protect Miriam from something, but what?
A living, escaped, Dan? Even if his own agency believes Dan is dead and won't give Miriam the security Abe thinks is necessary, what cop would drop everything and disappear?

Thanks for the recap Mena.

Add me to the list of those who have no sympathy for Gussy. She is so self-righteous and Miriam still being alive will surface before all of Dio's atrocities come to light. I wonder if she will have to see him mauling Cam before she really realizes what she already knows deep down inside.

While I don't want to have to stomach another male relative with boundary issues on this TN, I have to wonder why Abe is calling Dio. We know how it benefits Dio's what can Abe gain?

Juanita - ITA that the safest place for Rosario right now it jail but her story is so sad. I hope she does get a lighter sentence.

Juanita. Yup, "ese vato" would be it without the typing hiccup! We had a comment session about that word a little while back. I find it funny that it is such an everyday slang term for "guy"

Mena, thank you for the wonderful detailed recap. Yes, CME is one of my time favorite TNs and loved the trip down memory lane.

The anvils are lining up nicely!

The comments have been great so I have little add but I do believe Augie is worried about who will get the master bedroom if the real owners marry! She and Dio are so delusional. Double anvils for them. She probably never showed any affection to her daughters because everything had to be her way.

Thanks for the recap Mena

My favorite part of this episode: the lovely shout to Geronimo and Renata from Cuando Me Enamoro and the theme song coming in for awhile. Thank you writers!!

No Hissadora isn't quite up there with Carolota in ENDA, but she is one evil bruja.

Mena thanks for the great recap. Lots of good stuff. My fav: “Aaron suggests they need to unmask Dio to Agustina for her longterm safety (because being a dismissive and verbally abusive jerk isn’t enough).”

“Why not, they are now both widows (viudos). “—If Al was still alive, were they going to wait until Cam got an annulment from the church?

What kind of childhood/marriages did Gussie have to put up with this kind of treatment from Dio. It can’t all be generational/cultural can it?

UA: I had forgotten that these were the same producers for this TN as CME. No wonder AB is so good.

Vivi: laugh out loud moment: “But they are fooling themselves if they think this is Plan B. They’ve had to change tactics so often, this is more like Plan J (for Just give up already!).”

Myo: “I don't beleive that Abe is evil or even bad for that matter; I think he loves his sister very much and is very protective of her. He had used his position to jail Dan without Due Process but I don't think he did it with bad intentions; rather he did it to protect Miriam.”—I never thought of this angle. I always felt it was to get back at Dan. But this is a good point—and I hope true.

UA: “Having said that, I think Abe is sick. His current behavior is not that of an honest policeman, which he probably was before Miriam married Daniel. He has some kind of sick obsession about her or why isn't he married with kids by now?”—this is a good point, too. I can’t wait to find out what is really going on with Abe.

UA: about Rosario going to the jail alone. You’re probably right. I wish they’d had a little scene between the two of them about it. It wouldn’t have been such a shock to see her walk in alone.

Cathyx: I see you got their first re: Abe revealing Miriam is alive so Dio can stop the marriage.

Juanita: I hope Rosario is safer in jail. Couldn’t Isa bribe someone to kill her, like Al was afraid she’d do to him? I think it would be a revenge thing and maybe not worth the risk. Isa has to know that Rosario has probably spilled the beans by now and no point in killing her to keep her quiet.

Ya know, it's a good thing that Dan and Cam had finished up with their afternoon delight before Rodolfo went looking for them in the cabin to tell them about the arrival of the amigos. They have been very lucky so far. Although, some lucky person might just get a really good show when they walk by the cabin one of these days. Good thing the cabin seems to be tucked away in a place where only people looking to go into the cabin would venture. Maybe the should make a rule that everyone on staff or in the big house should call them first, before coming over.

Now that Aggie has made her opinion known about Dan and Cam getting married, life there will be quite uncomfortable. She needs to move out. Or at least move into the cabana and let Dan and Cam have the master bedroom in the main house.

Vivi, maybe you're hoping to be that lucky person. ;)

Cathyx- I would actually hope to be the lucky person IN the cabin, with Dan...

I agree about Cam and Dan having the master bedroom in the big house. They are both the owners of the darn place, AND they're getting married. Time for Dio and Gussy to step down acting like the lady and lord of the manse.

I think Cam and Dan would probably still like the privacy/coziness/sentimentality of the cabin. Especially since the house is sort of Gussie's domain--with Cam's permission.

Thanks, Mena, for another fabulous recap of a great episode.

So many great comments have been made, but I just have to say, Vivi, that your Plan J reference made me laugh out loud too!

Mena - Thanks. My favorite: "Who knew that a rat could rat out another rat? Sr Esteves doesn’t much give a rat’s a$#..."

Enjoyed all the comments. I hope the fact that Dio miss Abe's call means something. Like maybe someone else will intercept the message.

Too bad Nat, during her reminiscing of her treatment by Dio, didn't remember how loud and violent he got with her when she told him she was quitting her job with him! And, definitely Amanda should have told her about that choke hold and how he called her to brag about the attack on Osvaldo.

Cayetonto won't realize what Isa is up to until it is too late. She knows exactly how to play him.

Abe has always hated Daniel and I wonder if he would go along with Dionisio to stop the wedding? After all, a Dan that's alive and unmarried might take it into his head to return to Miriam "for her money" (at least to Abe's way of thinking). No, it's better for whatever plans he has for Miriam if Dan is safely away with another woman (Cam). Que no?

Anon 3:34: good point re: Abe.

A guy at work, who doesn't watch TNs but is in the room when Flaco and I talk about them, suggests that they introduce a new character called Umberto for Isa to fall in love with and he should be played by some guy called Chuy who's on the Chelsea Lately show.

If Camila and Daniel continue to live in the cabana what happens when they start having kids? Beyond the space issue, they need to take over the hacienda yesterday so that El Diablo doesn't get his foothold back in there.

So we could have another boda interrumptus. But isn't revealing that Miriam alive contrary to Abe's interests at this point?

He must be calling El Diablo to find out whether Daniel is alive because Teresa said nothing about it.

UA: I didn't mean for Cam and Dan to live the rest of their lives in the cabana. But I can see them staying there as newlyweds and until the Dio/Gussie situation is resolved.

They should certainly not have children until El Diablo goes back to hell.

UA: agree with your there!!!!

HI All,

As always, thanks mucho for the clarification that you enjoyed the recap - the greatest accomplishment is to know that the recap essentially and cleary tells the story and the bonus is when the recap make us laugh!

I just finished a conference call and returned to this to update my spelling hiccups and to make a few necessary clarifications.

Oh and it is always rewarding when you type it correctly! That would be "clearly"!

Thanks for the recap Mena! It did in fact clear up some scenes for me.

I know Gussie seems like the most tonta de las tontas, but, really, what bad stuff does she know about Dio? Aside from being a jerk, there's nothing that he's done that she knows about that indicates he's evil. As far as she knows, Dan came in with something against him and "poisoned" the minds of Cam and her/his friends against Dio. Nat has more of a reason to suspect him of horrible things. I don't know, I just can't be mad at her for things she doesn't know. That being said, her continued resentimiento against Dan is so old. She could at least try to get to know him. Cam and Dan don't treat Dio the way she treats Daniel, por Dios!

Okay, that aside, I really want to know what Abe told Miriam about Dan. Because apparently she hasn't been looking for him. Does she think he's dead too? Does she even know what her brother did?

OT: Flaco was telling me about a TN that SN did back in the day called Cuando Seas Mía (Azteca) that he loved. Did anyone else watch it?

I think we're going to find out soon.

The problem with telling Augustina about El Diablo is that nobody has any concrete proof yet. They need the phone records that Alonso paid for, they need Javier to attest to the amorous activities of El Diablo and Hissadora, and they will need what Leoncerdo knows.

And for which I hope they don't take off any prison time.

Nanette- It's pretty hard for most of us here in the US to see Azteca novelas. It's only recently that they started showing them in areas beyond the border towns. But, I have watched bits and pieces of SN's Azteca tns online, and most of Montecristo, her last Azteca tn. Cuando Seas Mia is one I haven't seen much any bits of, but I have heard good things.

Flaco says he saw it here in the US in the LA area--which probably makes a difference.

Yep. Not surprising that L.A. had Azteca way back when-- Cuando Seas Mia was in 2001. Hey, according to SN's wiki, she's 5'3, not 5'5 as someone reported the other day.

Azteca only has two full-power stations in the US: Los Angeles and Houston. Not all cable systems carry it, which compounds the issue. Mine dropped it for a while and now has it back, but the program listings are always wrong.

My Spanish must be getting better on this my 3rd TN. I did not need the recap to cry, "Bitch," three times at the TV last night. Two of them were at Augustina.

I hated getting all happy with the celebration and then being socked with nasty stuff. I am not sure that Abe's activities were not paid for by Dio, not feelings for his sister.

Thanks for the details and wit of the recap, Mena.

Cindy

Thanks for a great recap Mena.

As someone said earlier, UA I think, Abe probably wants to know if Dan is alive. From what I remember from very early on, Dio saw Abe in Chile and wanted a death certificate, and made it clear that he'd "pay" for one if Abe wasn't sure whether or not Dan was dead. Abe was angry and basically told Dio to shove it.

HellaShelle: the Scoobies and Os have told Auggie about Dio's bad deeds, but don't have proof. She therefore chooses to believe Dio when he of course denies it. She even said so last night that she doesn't believe them (scoobies). Pobrecita yes, but muy, pero muy tonta. To top it off, he has been such a jerk to her lately.

LoriLoo- Wasn't it annoying when Gussy wagged her finger at the Scoobies as she said stuck her nose up and said Dio has always been honest with her despite what all of them have said? Oh man, I wanted to slap her. She has indeed gotten plenty of warning. It doesn't matter if they don't have proof. If EVERYONE you know and trust, including your level-headed and beloved daughter, tells you the man you are married to is a bad guy, you should listen!

Couldn't agree more, Vivi. It's astonishing and really disturbing that Augustina doesn't get it. She is so desperate to hold onto Dio that she throws all common sense and loyalty out the door...or window...and chooses to defend the very man that treats her like crap. How does that not tell her something? And has Camila ever betrayed her? I could slap her right now myself.

I put Agustina and Cayetano in the same category, not bad or evil, but naive and clueless. I am looking forward to Aggie and Cayetonto having the veil lifted over their eyes as they discover that the people they are defending are not defendable and they are completely wrong about They both are so annoyingly certain that everyone is wrong about them and are so put out that anyone would think badly of them. This will be as sweet or sweeter a moment than the bad guys getting found out.

Vivi: last night wasn't the first time I wanted to slap Gussie! One of my favorite Mena-isms was (about Dio) "because being a dismissive and verbally abusive jerk isn't enough".

cathyx: ITA that Gussie and Cayetanbajo are both clueless. I don't have any sympathy for Caye ever since he didn't have a problem with how Isa, but first Al, got the ranch in the first place. He does know that it was Cami's ransom. How can he possibly be ok with that? And now, he's going to help her at least not leave with "manos vacios"?!? Imbecil is right!

Mena, your recaps leaves nothing to be desired.
There was so much talking in this episode and for me that always means a lot of misunderstanding in interpretating the conversations. For example in the conversation between osvaldo and the lead detective, I couldn't interpret whether the fact that Chayo had killed Al, had put the validity of the will in question. You clarified that it didn't.

I feel so bad for Chayo. Maybe she can become a star witness and get her sentence reduced and serve it on some type of work release program like the one that Aaron will be setting up.

My favorite quote:
"They wonder how Agustina will feel when she figures out who the REAL Dio is (like the current one is some kind of prize, mm hmm!)."

I will lose all respect for Aaron if he arranges work release for Leoncerdo. I think he got 30 years, but that's not enough.

He will have to admit his own role in the death of Padre Baldomero and that Hissadora gave him money. Maybe the police can find his fingerprints in the Devil's Lair to further establish the connexion. Of course the first thing he will reveal is that she cut out his tongue with the help of El Diablo's men.

UA, the DNA evidence points to Leon raping Luzma, so I doubt he would get out on a work release. So perhaps he will realize he ain't goin' nowhere, and just fess up.

Augustina is beyond clueless. Every time Dio humiliates or insults her, the look on her face is like, "Oh, dear, now what did I do wrong?" She never even contemplates the fact that it's not her - it's him!
