Amores Verdaderos #49 Thu 1/17/13 Vicky's office should have sign at door 'Anger Management course for Jealous Spouses Here' ... NOT!

Refrito:

Vicky asks Arriaga for his opinion about the clothes she got from her friend. When did Arriaga get a flash course list on fashion consulting?

Bea arrives late to work, to Frankie’s dismay… he grabs her a bit rough asking what the hayride are you doin’ here? I got a job here!...

Nikki is brushed off by Nil-Son when she is trying to talk something important.

Frankie keeps dragging Bea around. Dances arrives and gives him a headlock from behind and tells him you touch her again and you are a dead man! (they fight, Anibal comes out and yells Stop or I will fire you both! This is not a cantina!)

LoNuevo:

Anibal the badge-less sheriff in town…

Anibal yells at both men, saying this is not a cantina! I don’t want scandals in the office, so cool it!!.

Bea stands her ground, Dances gets an ear full and then says oopsie!

Bea confronts Frankie, she wants to hold on to the job to support herself and her son on her own efforts.

Dances has listened to the argument, they tell him they are sibs. Bea confirms to Dances that Frankie is her bro, she had not told him she worked at MetaImagen. Dances apologizes. Frankie reluctantly shakes his hand.

Still Crying for my baby

Adri at the baby toumb, tells her she will have to wait a few days to open the toumb… dad confessed to my godfather you had not died, but this could be another lie of his… (cries holding the angel statue as if it were her daughter)

Gilda leaves Bea at front desk, asks her to bring the providers records up to date.

Bea tells Dances that Nil-Son wants him to go to the Design Dept (Vicky’s area)

Where do you know my boss from?

Frankie asks Bea why Dances defended her, Bea explains they are not quite friends, just dancing partners… Frankie warns her he knows very little about Dances. She tries to reassure him she will be fine. At this moment she is only interested in her son. She just will go dancing to distract herself.

Little Leo at school

At school Guillo is behaving like little Leonardo, acting really nasty and talking trashy to his play partners. Leo comes to the school to bring Guillo a huge box of fried chicken with the usual unhealthy sides…

Leo asks Guillo if his mom has come over or called him (Thanks Madelaine for reminder: of course we all at caray know she did call and wanted to talk to Guillo but Leo would not let her, so this man is beyond growing noses, this man is pure evil using his son to get at Bea like that). Guillo says no. But tells his dad that mom got a job, she is working. Leo is surprised.

Big brother says be careful who you dance with

Frankie insists to Bea that she should leave the job for her own safety (thinking of Leo) Bea says she just got separated, is living on charity of others, and wants not to depend on Leo anymore, so she wants to keep working. Frankie apologizes for not understanding at first. You know you can count on me.

Sorry, sis, I can’t be part of forgive and forget dinner party

Bea tells him about her dinner last night with both parents. Frankie is surprised that Felipe could dine at same table with Pau-whinner without losing his appetite. Has he forgotten she abandoned us? Bea says none of us have forgotten. But she is our mother and we need to try to get close to her now that she is alone. Frankie resists… too many problems right now, no room for Paula Trejo drama issues.

Nikki gets advice … from KenDrat! Yikes!

Nikki and KenDrat have a coffee, KenDrat questions Nikki on her wish to move to Europe. Nikki admits she has to put distance between her and her bodyguard. (Frankie is confessing to Bea same thing, his feelings toward Nikki. Bea worries, but he won’t admit his feelings can be summarized as ‘love’.). Kendrat guesses right that Nikki has fallen in love with Frankie. Nikki admits she ‘wants’ him. (Bea makes a weird comment about ‘the bodyguards of Balvanera family’… this wakes Frankie’s curiosity, but Bea won’t spill the beans about Vicky on Angel’s bed… Bea tells Frankie she thinks Nikki is frivolous and stuck-up. Frankie knows it. But it doesn’t matter anymore now that she is moving to Europe.) KenDrat advices Nikki ‘good sex does not guarantee financial security’ ‘if you want him so much, go into a no-contract relationship with him, enjoy him! But a serious relationship with your bodyguard would be ‘pathetic!’. (Frankie thinks that Nikki leaving is best for everyone).. Nikki says if I leave, the temptation will be over.

Nothing like a walk in the park to get ideas in order

Angel has escorted Vicky to a park, where she put her thoughts in order. Now she is ready to go to the office. She thanks Angel for worrying about her, his loyalty and his respect for her. He says she deserves it, he admires her. Vicky says not everyone thinks the same way you do. It is time to face ‘my reality’.

Home sweet Home … or is it?, say Mama Bear and Little Bear

Cris and Lilli arrive, they have the blues about having gone back to town, Lilli thinks her testimony was useless, Cris is super sad about the ‘casita’ that went up in smoke.

Lili stays in kitchen, Cris goes to bedroom. Cris yells for Lili to come. The bed is not as I left it. Did you make the bed and then lie on it? No, I don’t make the bed so badly. Cris smells the pillow… smell this… Fine women's perfume. (OH-NO HERE WE GO AGAINs heard around all living rooms in caray ville)

Vicky and Angel arrive at office… She does not want to see Nil-Son yet.

Bea tells Frankie that Mrs Vicky arrived. She looks fine, although a bit hurried. Gilda calls Nil-Son at his office to tell him Vicky arrived.

The jealous rages at the office, act I

Nil-Son barges into Vicky’s office, right by Angel. Yells at Vicky what the hayride were you doing last night?? (turns to Angel) You shut up, Imbecile!

Vicky: I did a lot of things last night but none were anything similar to what you were doing with that redhead in your office!! I want a DIVORCE!!

Wind up for second Act

At apartment of short fuses, Paula arrives casually, Lilli tells her Cris is very upset. She is talking to herself in bedroom… She is roughly undoing the bed, Lilli has to give some excuses for her to Paula. Lilli leaves Paula and Cris alone (OH NOOOOO!!) Paula asks Cris the obvious (what is up with you?) Cris tells her what she found when she arrived home.. Let a lightning kill me right now if that woman did not sleep in my bed!! Darn it!! (Paula tells her she has never experienced a similar situation… oh yeah?) Cris begs Paula shaking her around to tell her who slept in the bed, you know it!! Tell me!! Are we friends or not?? Then tell me what you know! Suelta la sopa!!! Sueltala!!! (Paula tells her it was… wait for it… wait for it… Vicky B, she saw her herself)

Cris goes totally betserk, Paula cannot do anything to calm her down. Cris curses the day she agreed to Angel working for Vicky. Lilli arrives again and finds Cris totally out of control. ‘that woman collected what we owed her with plenty of interest!!’ ‘what are you talking about mom??’ ‘if she thought she can steal my husband, she is way wrong!!’

(Lilli asks Paula what happened. Paula just tells her your mom will explain later when she calms down)

Vicky survives the first battle of the jealous rages

Back at Vicky’s office chaos… Nil-Son wants Angel to leave, but Vicky won’t let Angel leave. She insists in starting divorce paperwork right away. Nil-Son wants to explain… Angel wants to leave (understandably) … Nil-Son begs… Vicky says talk to the lawyer. Nil-Son refuses to leave the office, even less leave her life. He assures her that redhead woman means nothing to him (nose growing somewhere or his face turning lobster red??) he proceeds to spill nonsense excuse that he rejected the readhead many times but last night he could not resist the temptation and lost control… Vicky says you knew exactly how I would react if this ever happened… Nil-Son begs some more… for our daughter… forgive me!... Vicky says my dad taught me to be strong. I cannot live with a weak person who inspires pity on me. SO leave, I have ejected you from my life. (you go Vicky! Stay strong girl!!)

He leaves, but not before he says ‘only want to tell you I love you’ She says ‘the problem is that in my dictionary, that word implies absolute faithfulness, not so in yours.’

Dances gets the ‘can’t see you’ treatment from his own staff

Frankie and Angel talk about Bea and her job there. Angel supports Bea, he understand her need to feel like she can support her son.

Frankie asks Angel about Vicky… But Angel respects the silence code.

Dances comes over and invites them to coffee… Angel immediately asks Frankie if he hears thunder and rain up there..(they are mocking ignoring Dances totally intentionally) Dances gets the drift and says go ahead with your conversation and make believe I never came by.

As the final touch Frankie warns Dances that his sister has someone to protect her… as long as you don’t cross the line with her there won’t be any trouble. (Bea has witnessed this convo and worries that her friendship with Santino brings grief to her brother at work. She also thinks that from the way Vicky and Nil-Son are behaving, the problem that might be behind her sleeping in Angel’s bed is their relationship)

Mami, now I want to leave… now I don’t

Nikki comes in Vicky’s office, they won’t tell her anything about what happened, self-absorbed Nikki does not catch any irregular wind drift, she hugs Papito Nil-Son who is extra cuddly with her as show-off to Vicky, then he leaves.

Vicky asks Nikki why she returned from hacienda so fast. Nikki tells mom she figured out what she wants to do, she wants to move with Auntie Adri to Paris… Vicky says you better think again, Adri is here in Mex. We found out because she had an accident. But she is fine, what worries Vicky is Adri has not contacted her, which she does not understand. Nikki says Tia Adri has always acted with mystery.

Vicky gets sad that Nikki wants to leave, precisely now. Nikki says you have said yourself that I need to fly with my own wings and make my own way. Vicky begs her not to leave her at this moment. Nikki says ok, I will stay and all live happily. I love you mami.

Nil-Son arrives at the meeting with Anibal and staff, and tells Anibal Vicky is here, she is fine, but just asked me for divorce.

Angel asks Frankie what is up with Nikki wanting to go to Europe. … Just at that moment Nikki comes out, sends Angel to Vicky’s office, and lets Guzmancito that she is not going to Europe anymore. On their way out Nikki spots Bea and remembers when she saw her with Frankie and thought she was his lover. Nikki gets her usual ‘welcoming committee’ mode ‘wow, gorilita, I did not know you had slipped one of your ‘novias’ in the company.’ Frankie clears up that Bea is his sister, not his novia, and she got the job fair and square, not because he recommended her. Nikki apologizes to Bea with her usual ‘sorry!, neta!’ Frankie and Nikki leave.

Bea takes a call from Tomasina. Tomasina is worried about Vicky. Bea tells her Vicky arrived fine. Tomasina announces to staff that Vicky is fine!! Polita gets really happy. Jean Marie wants to send a bouquet of lilies to Od-iosa Longoria. Tomasina warns JM that if Vicky finds out of his friendship with Od-iosa, she will be mad. What do you want? To be cook for Od-iosa? No way, I am happy here! Just want to show admiration to the ‘(French for) most beautiful woman in the world’. Tomasina gets a call, and runs out without giving any explanation.

Just when we thought the worst was over… leave it to Cris to raise the chaos bar

Vicky is left alone with Angel in her office again. She feels everyone is leaving her. Angel tries to reassure her, she has her character left.. Besides, what else can happen? (oh ouch, Angel, you spoke too soon!)

In Barges Cristina totally out of control… Bea cannot stop Cris, who waggles her like a rag…

Previews:

Cris also drags Angel like a rag when he asks her to stop talking silly…

Cris nags ‘it would be the pits that after she steals my husband, she expects me to apologize!! If you want him, keep him!! (dragging/flipping around some furniture for good measure)

Vicky yells at Cris not to disrespect her!

Comments:
Marta, what a wonderful, marvelous recap. My favorite lines were Apartment of short fuses
Nose Growing for Nil-son
Leave it to Cris to raise the chaos bar, lol. Loved them all.

I forgive Guzmi now. I just thought he was way rough on Bea when he was dragging her around. Like how he actually listened and then understood, finally, and now some people know this is his sister, especially Nikki, she opened her mouth and inserted her foot, lol. Glad Dances and Guzmi shook hands. Loved Anibal coming to break up the fight.

Now we all knew that PauWhiner would spill, but I think PauWhiner was even taken aback about how Cris acted when PauWhiner told her. I felt sorry for Lili, not understanding what was going on. I swear Cris looked like she was going loca, literally!

Hate Leo the Low and what he is doing to Guillo, denying that his Mama called the other night. I hope Leo the Low doesn't show up at Meta Imagen, but then again the Angel or Guzmi would make short work of him.

Nikki and Guzmi are so confused. They are too funny really and Nikki is so immature. She has a alot to deal with, her feelings for Guzmi, her bulimia, and the pending divorce she knows nothing about. Guzmi just knows he loves her, but where is the wife?

I am sorry to say Cris has gone around the bend. Who in their right mind would go to a place of bidness, kicking and screaming about a cheating husband? The funny thing is PauWhiner told Cris that VIKKI was in the bed and she made no mention of the Angel at all. Cris I guess assumed that Angel and Vikki did the deed. I am a trusting person and would have asked Angel about it first. I know it's just me.

Same for Nil-son and his supposed jealousy, ranting and raving and calling Angel an imbecile. I am so glad Ms Vikki stood up to Nil-son and told him she wants a divorce. I have to say I was laughing my butt off when Nil-son got on his knees and begged Ms Vikki not to divorce him. Yeah, that ain't workin' that's not the way you do it. Wonder what Anibal will do about the divorce. We know he likes to meddle in his daughter's lives.

Poor Adriana. I hope soon, she finds out if her daughter Lucia is dead or alive. Even if there is a body in there, they can do DNA to find out if it is Lucia or not. I don't blame Adriana for not beleiving her wicked Papa.

Oh,and by the way, I want that dress Ms Vikki was wearing. She slept in it and not a wrinkle in sight. What is that material? lol.

Marta: Spot on title. The recap was great - you hit all the high and low notes with style. There was a lot of being "brushed off", "dragged like a rag" and "scandals in the office" a plenty, (DWS and Frankie), not to mention full force hurricane Cristina. I also loved "apartment of short fuses" - perfect!

I'm still upset Paula told Cris about Vicky but was shocked that Cris literally assaulted Paula verbally and physically to get her to spill. Cris was in a total frenzy fueled by fury. Had she had even a slightly cooler head she might have picked up on what you noted Madelaine, there was no mention of Angel at all.

Cris didn't teeter on the precipice of reason, she jumped into the abyss. I can understand her anger but charging into Vicky's office showed she'd lost any semblance of reason. Madelaine, you said it all, "Who in their right mind would go to a place of bidness, kicking and screaming about a cheating husband?" Indeed.

Is there anyone more pathetic than Nelson? Getting on his knees? Good grief, the man lost the one shred of dignity that he was clinging to. He lost that when he hugged Nikki with a pleading look to Vicky that seemed to say don't break up our happy family.

Vicky has to stay strong...We'll see what the aftermath of all this is...

Marta, thanks again!

Happy Friday all!

Diana

Marta - Thank you for the recap! I had to reduce the volume on my TV for all that Criscreaming. yipes.

I am hoping Leo shows up at Meta I so that JA and Frankie can make mincemeat out of him.

I wanted to deploy lanza Nerfazos at Nelson on my TV screen, especially when he got on his knees asking forgiveness. I could not decide between laughing and barfing.

Madelaine - Vikki's dress was probably one of those miracle fiber travel dresses. LOL

Nelson has not lost any dignity, at all. That horndog will do ANYthing he can to keep his job, and wife+social position.

I can just imagine Anibal telling Nelson --- Eh, you really stepped in it, didn't you? Try to make her happy so I can keep you on the payroll here at M.I. (can you see that I do not trust Anibal, The Womanizing Wife Cheater of the century?)

Cristina has definitely become unhinged. The woman was BSC and needs to be locked up in a rubber room.

Who did Tomasina talk with on the phone? She took of like a bat out of hell y adónde?

Doris, i hope it was Felipe on phone and not that guy 'El Turco' summoning Tomasina out of the house that fast... for her sake.

Regarding... Cristina's outrage like a full blown hurricane (good one!) when 'there was no mention of Angel at all.'

i had to forget these two women are blood sisters...

Even though Vicky had warned Nil-Son what she would do if he ever was unfaithful to her, she handled it with class, with her head straight, even when she had a few hours of vulnerability with Angel before she faced Nil-Son again... AND she did not need anyone to tell her that the other woman was sleeping in her bed, she SAW what she SAW!!

Cristina on the other hand, could not handle hearing from third parties that there was another woman on her bed (and i think it made her reaction even harsher knowing it was Vicky, but still). She did see nothing, noone told her her husband was anywhere near, but she took off like a rabies dog directly to Vicky's office and made sure eveyrone in sight could hear her...

two very contrasting reactions, and it is funny that the one woman who actually saw what she suspected was the one who handled it with class and respect.

I agree with everyone that if and when 'Leo shows up at Meta I... JA and Frankie can make mincemeat out of him', but add Salsero in the mix there, if he figures out who Leo is and how he treats Bea.

marta - I agree with you on the differences in how Cris and Vik each handled their situation, one perceived and the other physically witnessed.

Something else occurred to me: the irony about the vehemence with which Cristina has gone ballistic over this perceived adultery, while she, Cristina, is the product of adultery.

Cristina has absolutely no clue that she was born out of wedlock and is the daughter of a married man and a 'mujercito/roba maridos.'

Marta - Fine recap. Thanks for all the details. (Also, I didn't see the recap on the main page, so maybe some coding is missing?)

No surprise, I am sympathetic to Cris. She went ballistic, very bad. At least she did shut the door after she entered Vickie's office yelling. Cris is dealing with depression from her house burning down, her life changing against her will, and of course her jealousy/fear of Vickie. And that volatile temper. But there's also a class issue. That "poca cosa" she told Angel she feels - so she goes to the headquarters of the wealthy businesswoman to let her know she will not be trifled with. But Cris's issue really should be with Angel, not Vickie.

What an exciting work day for the employees at Meta Imagen. First a showdown between DWS and Frankie and now Cris.

In the previews, Cris shoves Angel aside. With that strength, she should be a bodyguard too.

I liked the apology DWS gave Frankie. Maybe redemption is in his future sooner than later.

Didn’t expect Nelson to fold so quickly. I wonder if he realizes Vickie doesn’t know it was KendHo.

Wonderful recap Marta! You got a doozy of an episode. I actually missed the last few minutes, so I didn't see Cris tear into the office. I can picture it all from your description though, and I'm sure it will be replayed tonight.

I really want to be on Cris's side. Really, I do. But the WAY she reacts to things is BSC. It's just nuts. I much prefer Vicky's reaction, even if I would have preferred her to go into the office in that moment when she saw Nelson and La Peliroja. But, it is actually much better to collect yourself and your thoughts before confronting something so big, and I really respect the way she pulled herself together by the next morning and handled her business, quietly. Now, I just hope that these things don't ruin her plans to divorce Nelson: 1) Niki (she is old enough to deal with her parents divorcing); and 2) Cris' accusations of Vicky's infidelity with JA.

I think Paula “resisting” telling Cris about Vicky was a show. She had a smile on her face when she came to that apt and she knew what she had come to do. I do think she was surprised by the force of Cris’s rage though.

Thank you, Marta!

That little scene with Salsero and the Guzmán siblings was hilarious, I loved Susana's shocked-disgusted expression when Dances asked her about Guzmi and when she confirmed that claro que no, Francisco wasn't her husband!
The next scene with the jealous Nikki was funny as well.

While I couldn't care less about Cristina's marriage (thank God we don't have to choose between Team Jacob and Team Edward or Team Angelina and Team Jennifer here :)), I agree with Niecie: Cris is in a very uncomfortable situation because she's lost her home, and now her family's wellbeing depends on the Balvaneras. She hates that Angel works for Vicky but she can't do anything about it (aside from the investigation after the arsonist). She's afraid of Victoria who brings out her worst inferiority complexes. And she isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, either.

I liked Mónica's acting in that scene with Paula, one could feel her vulnerability and fear - despite the crazy reactions.

Of course marching into Vicky's office was very rude and immature, but again, it's a telenovela, and we've seen worse reactions from male heroes before.

I wasn't surprised that Nelson folded so easily. That man-ho knew he was busted by Vik's description of the 'pelirojo'.

Marta - Forgot to mention how much I like the witty headings like "Anibal the badge-less sheriff in town…"

Thanks, Marta. This recap is a lot of fun.

Wow, Cristina can be quite the hellcat. Though jealousy is not one of favorite themes, I'm really looking forward to tonight's episode.

I'm sure Vikki feels smugly and righteously innocent, yet surely, especially with her Nelson problem, she should be able to understand Crissy's doubts, suspicions, and ire. As far as I'm concerned... the more fireworks... the better... both marriages have been doomed by the producer and writers anyway.

No one has yet mentioned Nikki's unusual but attractive head adornment. Not exactly a headband but similar. Nice.

I cracked up when Nelson struck that hopeful, innocent, fatherly pose with Nikki. Was anybody buying?

Carlos

Carlos, that head ornament that Nikki is wearing is a throwback to the 1920's, very flapperish, went really well with the dress. The only thing missing from Nikki's headwear was the feather in the back : ) I hope noone buys Nil-son's faux Daddyhood, really the guy ignores his daughter every chance he gets, lol.

You know, if it does turn out that Lili is Adri's daughter, Cris will really lose her mind. In her eyes she will be losing her man to one Balvanera sister (Vicky), and losing her daughter to another Balvanera sister (Adri). Then the final blow-- when she finds out they are both also HER sisters!

Poor Bea, assumed to be her brother's wife twice in one day! Ewwwww!

I like Nikki's flapperesque outfit. The head adornment was stylish.

I simultaneously feel sorry for Cris and want to throttle her. Her hunches are not entirely wrong, but the shrieking banshee act isn't going to help anything.

Thanks for the recap, Marta!

Thanks so much for the recap, Marta. Some lovely snarky lines. Love the title too.

Chris is unhinged! That actress is really good, though, at portraying BSC.

I cringe for Chris, and am mightily annoyed with her. She always flies off the handle to such a degree! But at the same time, come on, any woman would have wondered. Perfume from another woman on the pillow of the marriage bed?

Big Angel is Big Dumb Angel for ever thinking that super-celos Chris wouldn't sniff this out (literally).

I feel bad for Nikki. The last person she should be getting love advice from is that ho Kendra! The way Nikki's face fell when Kendra said it would be "pathetic" to have an affair with a (shudder) bodyguard. For a bonafide ho, Kendra is sure a snob. Now Nikki is going to feel ashamed and embarrassed for her feelings for that lowly (shudder) bodyguard, the delectable, very tempting, very honorable Guzmancito (who is worth more than a hundred of the likes if Nil-son).

I'm in the Chris camp; because even though she's a crazy shrew, she has not been unfaithful to Big Angel or done anything really dire that would deserve him dumping her. Though if she continues with the freaky jealousy stuff, who knows. But still, I'd hate to see Big Angel divorce her, only to later hook up with Vicki (which we know is inevitable). So either Chris has to initiate the divorce, or in some other way be removed from the scene. If Big Angel wants the divorce first, it had better be because Chris completely goes off the rails (which I'd hate to see). Otherwise I'll be VERY disappointed in Big Angel.

Do anything to save your marriage, Big Angel! Sure, we know it's doomed, but you don't! And you don't want the guilt hanging over your head, that you didn't try. And dude? Letting Vicki sleep in your bed (even though you didn't share it and the whole thing was completely innocent), was REALLY STUPID.

Looking forward to tonight's episode! And am loving the bits with Salsa-Dude. I am totally rooting for his redemption at this point.

I laughed, I cried ... well, okay... I did laugh and I kind of shook my head regretfully at moments. And you nailed it all, Super Marta. Thank you. Like others, I especially liked the "apartment of short fuses." There sure was a whole lot of barging going on last night.

Oh Vivi, you missed the biggest laugh. JA's straight man cue-- what else could possibly go wrong? And bam, in the traditional of great farce, in blows the answer --Hurricane Cristina!

One thing I've been noticing: Most of the fight scenes -- like the Salsero-Frankie scuffle -- are carefully choreographed "let's not hurt each other for realsies" fakes. But when Mónika Sánchez's Cristina grabs and pushes and gets up in another actor's face, we get the feeling she leaves bruises.

Did anyone else notice that when Victoria says her dad taught her to be strong, the frame widens and we see the Mussolini-like graphic of Aníbal over the conference table. Then we see Vicky jutting out her chin. Are we going to see Victoria becoming a little too strong for a while?

Madelaine:
"I want that dress Ms Vikki was wearing. She slept in it and not a wrinkle in sight. What is that material?" Hah! Me too -- I mean I want the dress, not that there's not a wrinkle in sight. Sigh.

Doris:
Good question about Tomasina's phone call. Could Tomi have an admirer?

Elvira: "For a bonafide ho, Kendra is sure a snob."
Yes! And poor Nikki for thinking she can trust her.

Nikki's flapper hair ornament -- simply divine. Neta.

Carlos - nah, I'm not buying Nelson's fatherly pose. That is typical sleazeball body language, hoping Vikki will cave in "for their daughter's sake." EEeew. Pure slime and sleaze. He will stop at nothing to stay married to Meta Imagen ... er ... Vikki.

I wonder how Mrs. Anibal reacted when she learned Anibal had his women on the side? Screaming? Stoic class? Clearly Vikki isn't going to put up with it. I hope.

I hate how Leo is subtly turning Guillo against his mother. Sad and maddening, but oh so true in real life divorce as well as DV (domestic violence) situations. With DV, it is ALL about Power & Control.

What I don't get about the need to choose sides in this story: thousands of good people divorce every month because they fall in love with someone else. I feel sorry for her too because IF Angel divorces her, she'll be so alone and devastated. (Even if she still has her daughter and mother. But that's not the same.)

And I'm totally in the camp of "you should try to work hard on your relationship before dumping your significant other for a new crush (especially when you have underaged children) because a long-term commitment/marriage is serious business".

Most likely Big Angel is that kind of person who sticks to his family (though now that Victoria has left her husband, the situation may get even more complicated). But people say Cristina deserves someone who isn't with her out of obligation. That's true, but what the heck should Arriaga do? Quit the job, move back to the countryside, look for another job and forget the Balvaneras forever? That would be the best solution for Crissie, but in the eyes of Viewerville the guy is already stigmatized by his attraction towards another woman. And again, poor Cristina, her husband chose her (mostly) out of obligation.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Madelaine, NovelaMaven, i too want that dress.. either in bright red like Vicky's or royal blue... that stretch knit (if that is what that material is) is very washable and never loses the color... very practical slip-on go-to dress for any day.

Thank you Marta---No SuperMarta, The recap was excellent all the way through.
Anibal the badge-less sherrif in town.
The jealous rages at the office act 1
The apartment of short fuses.
Cris raises the chasos bar.
Vicki survives the first battle of the jealous rages.
These were all great and helps to put you into the recapers hall of fame.

Much to say today, I hope that I am not booring.

Yes Madelaine---Guzman's wife?

Niecie in MD---Exciting work day for the employes. LOL

Doris---I want Leo to come to Meta Imagen too. He deserves what he would get. Disagree with you about Cris though.

Cris---I understand exactly how she feels. If I had a women alone in my house when my wife wasn't there--even with no perfume on the pillow,--I would soon find myself
in the middle of World War 3. I know how my wife feels, I know the boundries. Excuses and explanations are to no effect. To all you women out there who are loving and trusting, that's wonderful but all women are not that way. And then you have other cultures with other values. Jose Angel, where were your brains??? You had plenty of warning, you knew how Cris felt. If I went to work for a multi millionaire heiress and things started happening like they are here,well--

When I first started watching novelas, I almost went crazy trying to understand the stories--that is before I found this blog site. Even then I lurked in the shadows. I loved Caray, Caray! from day one and appreciate the the work and dedication of ALL the recapers but I have to admit that since I came out of the shadows, it's been a lot more fun. I am always happy to read the thoughts of new people that join in---Bluefan OH--iriz79--and TN4ever are three that just come to mind but there are others. Please don't be offended if I forgot you. I read and enjoy all of the comments.

TN4ever---love your title because it fits me too. From my first novela, I knew I was hooked. Funny thing is, I have never watched an AmericaN soap, I had always thought that they were trash.

My last comment---Nilson/Nelson This guy is a work of I don't know what. Cheats all the time but boy--
his wife better not.
Funny thing is, well not funny. I used to work with a large group of Latinos mostly from Mexico but not all. Over time I found that many of the men felt that it was perfectly "OK" to cheat on their wifes--it was the macho thing to do. Not all felt that way but I was suprised at how many did. Don't get me wrong, I have come to love the Mexican people the're very warm and kind but this was an observation that I couldn't overlook and Nelson fits right into this mode.
the gringo

gringo - your observation about the attitudes of Latino co-workers cheating on their wives is spot on.

One of my two Spanish language teachers (one from Colombia, one from Venezuela) once told us this is more or less part of Latino culture. It is very macho and that double-standard still exists today.

Remember how Anibal even approves of Nelson cheating on Vikki, but told him to keep it hidden.

Carlos---I know how you feel about Nikki. For me---If I had the choice
it would be Lilly hands down. Nikki's head piece was interesting
but I'm not sure if I am crazy about it.

Thanks for the shout out, Gringo!

I didn't like Nikki's head ornament; I felt like it would be impossible to wear that without people looking only at that, asking about that, etc. But it did certainly evoke the flapper age. Trying to see it as a throwback to that time helped a lot. I didn't get that she was wearing a whole vintage look. That's why I need the insight of this site!

Also, the comment about Nikki now feeling bad about her feelings for noble Guzmi seems insightful and indicative of the next several episodes (I know it wasn't a spoiler).

I too am rooting for Salsero, but know he'll have to do some more messed up stuff before/if he achieves redemption. The other baddies never let you go that easily.

Monika Sanchez is doing a great job as Cristina. I like how in the opening credits they say "la reaparicion de Monika Sanchez." I hadn't seen her since Laberintos de Pasion which was forever ago. I hadn't watched novelas at all since then (over a decade) until Jorge Salinas drew me in against my will as Rolling Hell in LQNPA. Finding this site during LQNPA is definitely what kept me watching more novelas when that ended. But back to Monika, it seems we both disappeared and "reappeared" around the same times.

Sometimes I get confused about the quality of the acting in TNs. I know the genre requires that most everything be over the top, and the actors deliver that, but then that seems so cheesy that it seems like bad acting. But they are playing their roles straight, without "winking at the camera," so that takes us back to good, but it's all so ludicrous it must be bad, but I love it so it must be good? Help! :)

Thanks Marta for the great recap.

Don't ya just love it when the betrayer typically blathers on about how "it didn't mean anything?" Really NILL-son. Who CARES if it meant anything to you or not, Slime Ball. As if that were even the point!

I see no way that JA and Cris can resolve their relationship as long as he's working for Vicky and they are living in DF. They are clearly, painfully growing further apart every day. Frankly, he's OUTgrowing the country, and she wants to return to it with fantasies of living happily ever after there, but there's no going back. Somehow I see Cris destroying herself with anguish and jealousy.

Aahhhh ... I wanted to comment, but everything's been commented on, so I'm just sitting here reading the recaps and the comments with a smile on my face and eating apple pie ala mode and drinking a strong cup of coffee - black, no Bailey's. Ah, yes, Caray, Caray ... the blogfest of champions! :-)

I always roll my eyes when they say "It didn't mean anything!"

Uh, it meant you couldn't be bothered with fidelity. It meant you cared more about a quick thrill than about respecting your wife. It meant you might bring home some fresh new diseases or end up with extraneous kids.

How is it supposed to be appeasing to a wife that her husband would risk all that for someone he didn't even care about? It's a sideways step from being interested in someone and having an affair, not a step up.

Carlos, Gringo and TN4 - I thought Nikki's head ornament looked Guinivere-ish and totally out of place with her modern outfit with all the decorative zippers.

In keeping with her character - anything for attention.
