Amores Verdaderos #39 Thu 1/3/13 Both Angel with Hugs and RoboHunk with the blues are set up to look as baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad boys... Dances with Wolves might regret his new conquest
Labels: Amores
So Vickie knows someone with access inside her house is trying to damage her, but doesn't tell Tomasina, who's probably the smartest person in this TN and saw KendHo in the bodyguards' quarters.
Nice to see Salsero with a woman with blood in her veins. I'm thinking he may really like Beatriz and come in handy with her nutjob husband.
Is it bad that I'm rooting for Salsero and Bea? They looked really good together on the dance floor. At the very least, I'm looking forward to seeing Salsero beat the crap out of Guillo. This could be quite an interesting plot twist if Salsero really falls for Bea.
Niecie- Yeah, Vicky should have immediately started questioning Tomasina about who could be the culprit, instead of taking all that time to swirl her Baileys around.
Poor Guzman just can't catch a break. I wonder if this accusation of being a baby-daddy to a fake baby will prompt him to spill Niki's eating disorder secret.
Madelaine:
"Tomasina, who's probably the smartest person in this TN"
Probably? She is! :) My friends just call her the kindergarten teacher.
Vivi:
"Is it bad that I'm rooting for Salsero and Bea?"
Welcome to the club. :)
Count me in as a fan of Salsero and Bea. And yes I think he will come in handy as a defender of Bea against Useless Bully Husband.
Does telenovela law indicate whether Salsero is past redemption? As far as I recall he's only been responsible (indirectly or directly?) for the deaths of fellow bad guys. If he does fall for Bea my first guess is that he'll redeem himself through death (no spoilers obviously) but what do I know?
We had what's-his-name on La Fuerza Del Destino (just can't remember his name now) who was a bad guy at first and a guilty pleasure for a lot of us, and he married the blind girl at the end. So redemption sometimes does happen like that. But I think he was a nobler character than our Salsa Dude. Anyone else have any thoughts?
Never saw the embarazada accusation thing coming. They are throwing surprises at us right and left! Tonight will be must see TV to be sure!
Thomasina could share a thing or two if given a hint! Vikki is certainly holding her cards close. She knows that someone had to know she was meeting Odette and JA's note was in quarters at her abode.
Are we sure that Paula and Cristina aren't related? They both come out shooting with both barrels at the drop of a hat; Paula wails and Cristina accuses! Cristina is like Anibal - the world revolves around them and they are the most important - with occasional sidetrips of noblesse oblige.
As to the upcoming Nikki/Frankie: Que the hell?
Great recap as always. Love this show and all recappers!
Elvira, you are thinking of Antolin, Marcelo Cordoba, that married Carolina and redeemed himself. True Dances hasn't been as complicit as Kendho, in trying to destroy Vikki. I think he could be redeemed. Dances may be turning a corner and getting away from Kendho.
Teresita, so agree about Cris and the accusations, but Cris is kinda insecure. She just loves her hubby so much.
Poor Guzmi, didn't see the preggers thingy coming either. I wonder how far they will take this, and I really hope Guzmi lets out Nikki's little secret about the eating disorder. Nabila needs to go already. Didn't like how Vikki just accuses Guzmi of being the baby daddy. Probrecito!
Poor Vikki and the Angel, they were so very embarrased, but at least Angel is smart too and figured out it must have been someone in the house that set him and Vikki up. Hopefully they find out who it is.
Also thanks Anita for your help yesterday. It seems like spoiled rich girl is starting to act half human after all. I think that the Brat and Guzman romance will be a rocky one,at least at first. It will be interesting to see how it developes.
Bea and Salsero could also turn out to be very interesting.
Yesterday someone made a comment that Amores was booring. Not for me, I love it. I know that everyone has different tastes. Most people rave about Amor Bravio but I just couldn't connect with it. I watched it for about twenty or more episodes but didn't like several of the cast characters and couldn't get into the story line---
I stopped watching it. Well you win some and you loose some but for me, this one is a winner.
Am I going to have to go out and buy some Bailey's? They must have paid a lot to be so prominent in this novela.
Big trouble tonight over the secret video---can't wait.
Finally---Bea got dressed up to see her X que?

I hope you're right about our Salsa Dude being redeemable. What I measure as irredeemable is when someone is responsible for the killing of innocents. So far I don't think he's done that. He'll have to turn around and do some really good thing to "undo" his part in the kidnapping of Nikki and the attempts on Vicki. As far as I know the kidnappers themselves didn't kill anyone (or did they?).
I may be too much into wishful thinking here. But it's irresistible! Poor Bea needs a knight in shining amour and the actor playing the Salsa Dude has an appeal. And I'm a sucker for redemption stories.
As for this show being "boring," no, I never saw it that way. It may be a bit slow, but I enjoy all the characters, so it's not a problem for me. I've even got my mom hooked (she LOVES Big Ed). I may have liked Amor Bravio, but I couldn't fit another into my viewing schedule about the time that it started.
Elvira- You are right about Dances. He hasn't killed anyone yet and the idea of the kidnaps came from Kendho, and I think also from Odiodette (Thanks Neice in MD). Odiodette hates Vikki and Anibal with a passion. I think Kendho now is irredemable. She has done too much horrid stuff already and I hate the way she is so manipulative especially with Nikki and stringing Nil-son along. Even though I can't stand Nilson either.

Regarding him not having committed any serious crimes, remember at the very beginning when Angel first showed up at the house, he had to protect Vicky from thugs who were going to kidnap her (or kill her) adn those thugs were sent by Dances with S. But in reality he has not really been responsible for any good guys death (just because that plan and the one where they kidnapped Nicky both failed).
I too think this novela is more appealing to me than Amor Bravio. As much as I like Silvia Navarro, and i don't dislike Christian, it has not drawn me in like this one. The more i watch, the more i agree with Carlos, let the Francisquito/Nicky romance evolve! even if it begins on rocky terrain like with this fake pregnancy accusation, it will give them some time to be alone together, and maybe she will get to know him more and trust him, he seriously needs something to go WELL in his emotional life right about now. But at this price?... not sure he deserves this. Between the nagging mother, sticky Nabila and the insufferable Nicky, he has his hands full for sure.
I will need to rewatch later tonight to see if Vicky got around to take a sip off that baileys with ice drink she served herself when she got to the house.
Marta- Yes. I did mean Leo, not Guillo, although the kids could do with a few swats the way he was talking to his mama last episode. :)
Nope. Vicky did not sip the Bailey's. I was watching for it.
Boring or not boring: I wrote an essay about Nicandro Díaz's shows a few weeks ago. All of his telenovelas have an awfully slow pacing - for example in the original Argentinian version the striptease scene happened in episode 16.
But fortunately this telenovela has at least 3 redeeming qualities: 1. likeable, charming, interesting characters*, 2. great humor (even if the show is unintentionally funny sometimes), 3. good actors who have good chemistry with each other.
* Congratulations to Marcela Citterio, the writer of the original Amor en custodia who created these people.
I love telenovelas that have more realistic/depressing/layered plots, and I wish I had time to follow Para volver a amar, La fuerza del destino, Amor bravío and others, but at the end of the day I always end up watching/doing something else. Nowadays I only watch telenovelas if my top 5-8 favourite actors are on them.
I've been keeping a close eye on the Bailey's since it first appeared and I've yet to see anyone actually drink any. Just when you think someone might take a sip... the scene changes.
I'm glad that JA finally made it home. Didn't Cristina look great?
I'm pretty sure that Salsero hasn't killed anyone (yet), sooo, Salsero and Betty...OK by me.
Bring back el Turco!
Carlos
Anyone who is getting excited about the possibility of Salsero and Bea getting together should think hard about the scenes where he has slapped Kendra around in their little S&M insanity. The last thing Bea needs is another guy who will be smacking her as Leo has done so many times. And just because Salsero hasn't killed anyone doesn't make him husband and father material donchya know? Bea needs a dashing but kind man who will love and protect her and be a good dad to Guillo.
I'm yawning at the thought of having to spend probably another week on this false pregnancy drama with the Brat while no one ever gets down to the fact that she's killing herself with binging and purging. Hijole!!
I think it was your recap, Marta, that now has us all rooting for Bea and DWS. At first, when he grabbed Bea, I thought he might know her and was going to rough her up a bit. He talked to her differently than he does to KenDratHo. He's smitten. And the way he picked up her scarf and held it to his nose, hoping to keep her there a few more minutes, sadly realizing he didn't even know her name....he's got it bad.
In true tn fashion, Vicky has jumped to conclusions, confronts RH w/Blue Eyes out loud with a witness as if it is a done deal on the word of a questionable friend. Whaaa? Poor Nikki, she probably won't even get a chance to take a home pregnancy test before mama and Nill-son have her walking up the aisle....hmm, maybe Nikki wants to go along with it (so would I, I think).
also, thanks for the reminder on the volatile/violent Dances can be with women, have to agree she does not need another rewind/replay of her day to day life with Leonardo. even if we currently root for Dances and her together, he will have to change and prove himself to her.
Lovely, detailed recap.
Following my emotions, I love the couple of Bea & Salsero. The dancing was a wonderful surprise. However, with a background of masterminding a kidnapping, slapping a woman around, and lying about his near-death mother, he definitely does not appear to be marriage material - especially not for Bea who made a bad choice with Leonardo.
2 people I can think of who redeemed themselves were
Nihil- son's character in CME and the character in Sortilegio who was married to the character played by Chantal Andere...but I don't think they were as bad as Salsero. I don't see how she could overlook the kidnapping especially where her brother was in grave danger. He would have to do something extraordinary like rescue her son and be forever repentant; maybe that would do it.
How did the 2nd kidnapper die?
(Posted late - out all day)
Add me to the list of people hoping Bea and Salsero will become novios, so that DWS will put her violent husband in his place. Oh, wait, Salsero roughs up Kendra, so maybe I don't want him with Bea.
One thing I have a hazy memory of . . . there were some times early on in this novela when I expected Salsa Dude (whom I assumed was irredeemable) to do something worse than he did. I can't give specifics here. It's just a hazy memory. Of me expecting him to push something farther, and he doesn't. An example of that (that Madelaine reminds us of) is how it was Kendra's decision to burn down Big Angel's cozy little house, not Salsa Dude. I always thought that was a bit odd, how angry Salsa Dude was about that. Why not have it be Salsa's idea? Was it because that would have tipped him into the completely irredeemable column?
I could be wrong. It's really too soon to tell. We'll see in the next several episodes what the lay of the land is with these two.
As for Salsa's violent treatment of Kendraho, I thought of that too. Kendra is a bit violent herself, if I recall. I get the feeling that at least some of the slapping around the Kendraho was a participation sport. It was part of their relationship, unique to them. (Not that it excuses any man hitting any woman.) Not that I don't think he doesn't have a lot of redeeming to do (if it's even going to happen that way).
We'll see what they reveal to us in the next several episodes. We may have to wear our beanies to believe that someone like Salsa Dude is redeemable. I don't know how I feel about a guy who slaps around any woman (even someone like Kendra), then going on to be the perfect galán with a woman like Bea. If that's the direction this story is going (and it might be!) then we may have to fasten our beanies really tight. Or it could be that it's an ill-fated love story, with him redeeming himself through sacrifice and not getting the girl.
Interesting thing to speculate about, isn't it?
I'm not watching crown of tears. I tuned in one time, for five minutes, and Sra Ruffo was crying her eyes out, so I kept flipping channels.
Talk about crying. I've had it with Paula. Did she cry her eyes out when she left her son for Anibal? But now that Anibal is dumping her she is crying for her son. She deserves not having his love.

Irisz: hey, welcome here! :)
I recommend everyone to use a google account, it makes commenting much easier.
If you check back here, yes I am watching crown of tears.
Really, really enjoying Ernesto LaG as a super bad manipulative cold cruel rich guy.
You might want to check it out!
Clara
I had wondered what Eernesto's usual role was with only the dimmest recollection of Amor Real. I have been blown away by his character! At the risk of exposing myself to ridicule I'll say I really like Corona de Lagrimas and its theme of social class conflict [possibly due to the early time slot when I am more alert.] I think Caray rejected it as a downer. Yep, there's a lot of Victoria weeping, but sometimes it makes me chuckle and hey, it's an opportunity to hit the Bailey's! Anyway, I recommend it, especially if you like Ernesto.
Clara
So, great recap Marta, I love all the witty remarks by you guys, kudos for all
the beginning of the episode I almost fell off the chair, it was rather a laugh in anguish than a real funny laugh, that sceen was just embarassing..I was holding my head wondering shall I cry or shall I laugh and finally laughed my @ss off.
loved the Bea-Salsero scenes though, I hope they get together, - can't wait how they gonna meet again - , they surely look good together and Bea needs a protector she can lean on and trust, maybe Sals. will redeem himself through love and hopefully beats up scumbag Leo in the process a couple of times.
I like the actor who plays Sals. and he played a great good guy in Abismo.
I wonder how they gonna play this pregnancy thing, I hope Vic. doesn't jump to conclusions without checking out the truth factor..considering that this is not much chance of it, but let's hope for the best
welcome to the group!
btw, the guy playing Salsero, Francisco Gattorno, coincidentally played a secondary good guy in Abismo, he is also the actor who played Gael's role in the earlier version of the same novela, Canaveral de Pasiones.
