Por ella soy Eva #124 1/14/13: Ahora Soy Very Internacional

We open on a fun outing with Helena, Lalo, and Helena's mom, playing around at some fun-park. Surprising, that we're so close to the end of the show and some good guys are still happy!

But then Pluto bursts into the home as if nothing had changed between him and Helena, with a zillion gifts for everybody. Helena and her mother look distressed.

Then Helena asks him if he had forgotten that they broke it off. Amusingly (and annoyingly), he says no, but he thought it was all because of Helena's state of ire, and maybe she's cooled down by now. Needless to say, she is not convinced.

Santi and Luci - surprisingly, she's not being a total dishrag, and she lays out the rules for him if he's going to stay with her. Oh wait, I spoke too soon. Now she's whining about not having a boyfriend.

Surprisingly, my favorite scene of the epi is a Rebeca scene (!!) - Angelica comes in to boast about a modeling gig she got in America (ahora soy *very* internacional). Rebeca gets grumpy with all the boasting, but the funniest part is how each keeps yanking away the other's wine glass (despite the fact that they each have one - it reminds me of when one of our chickens drops a piece of food just to chase another chicken away from IT'S food), back and forth to accentuate their prideful statements. Eventually, they split the remaining wine

Eva (well, Juan is using his real voice while dressed as her) consults with his ill mom. As he leaves the room, he's caught by his dad, who grills him - "no te metas con mi mujer!" Juan almost slips up! "Me meto porque ella es mi MA- [catching himself] -gistral amiga." Heh.

Eugenia's doc says it's clear that she hasn't been taking her meds. Modesto protests that she has! The doctor says in that case, please bring in her pills so we can see what she's really been swallowing it.

Cut to Eugenia's room, where a skulking Claudia is messing with those very pills, only to be caught red-handed by the maid. Nonetheless, she acts indignant and entitled and obnoxious, very much Claudia.

Let's see, Plutarco once again takes his case to Eduardo, and asks his help in reconquering (seriously, with the way they throw that word around, he's got to be re-re-reconquering her by this point).

Ha ha! Love the title.

Oye, I was watching Amorcito today and something flashed up on the screen about a show called "Lo Que Mas Quieres" (or something like that) starting on January 27th in the 8 p.m. slot. QTH?

My DirecTV display stops on the 27th and says "to be announced." Anybody know what's going on?

Hey Blue Lo Que Mas Quieres starts on Sunday the 27th of January. It is only on on Sundays not during the week :)

Ezra, love your title too and can't wait for your always fab recap :)

Ezra, ---What she said.

haha, thanks, I think I accidentally posted it before I was done, but I'm done now. good night!

Ezra, thanks for this fast, fab recap. Oh, Rebe and Angelica were funny!

The nerve of Pluti, guess he doesn't know that no, means well, no. What an idiot. He has now become a stalker! I really hope Eva/JC puts a stop to that!

Poor Eugenia, and YAY for the Doc checking those pills. Now they really will find out what is up with her. I hope she is well soon. Modesto needs the cast iron skillet treatment, never mind the fork.

Both Bastardo and Pluti now should get the fork treatment. I can't believe Pluti went to Bastardo for help, but then again this will be Bastardo's little revenge against Silvia for divorcing him, what putzes the two of them are. I really hope for huge anvils for them, but in the meantime, a fork will do.

Ah, I was really hoping Lucia wouldn't keep being such a leaning lilly about I ain't got a boy toy. I want her to be as she was in the beginning of this TN and when she gave Santi hell because of that Dancer, Stripper, Ho. She was great then.

Oh, and Claudia, hope she gets caught for what she did. She looked mighty worried, and Chepina, YAY, for catching her.

Thanks so much Ezra.

It drove me crazy that after Pluti came to her house acting like a crazy stalker in denial, Helena still insisting on saying he's a good man. I don't think he'll succeed, but he may be able to guilt her into not dumping him completely.

I wasn't paying attention, because I dislike them both so much-- did Bastardo and Pluti discuss how Bastardo will help Pluti get Helena back?

A bit of clarification on the Claudia/Chepina scene. Claudia went into the room looking for the pills, so that she could switch the real pills back, but she didn't find the pill bottles. Yay! Later, when Chepina was speaking to Modesto, we learned Chepina had the pills on her, in her apron. Yay!

Too bad JC/Eva wasn't present when the doc said the pills had been switched. He would have figured it out right away. I can't trust that Modesto will figure it out. He might just blame Chepina outright and fire her. Even if she told him that she found Claudia messing with Eugenia's stuff, he's enough of an a** that he might not believe her.

Ezra, thank you for the recap. If Angelica is getting her "green card" maybe she can take ever whining Lucia with her: the Lucia schtick has gotten old. Eugenia looked so much younger and attractive without a turban or scarf covering her hair. I am so glad that the doctor had the medications reviewed and now everyone knows that a rat is afoot. I wonder if Claudia will be able to handle the stress when she finds out that everyone knows that the pills were switched. It is time for Dagoberto to hit the road. He is asking way too many questions about Eva. Helena is doing good holding her own. I hope the visit by her dad just serves to harden her resolve.

On to a different topic. Yikes! I saw my first episode in HD last night and was stunned by how much detail you can really see: especially the faces of the actors.
HD is NO friend to these or any actors! I felt sorry for them because the illusion was gone in spite of the makeup. I think I will revert to my non-HD option for a more "artistic" experience. I wouldn't want my vision of Juan Carlos ruined . . .

Thank you for the witty recap, Ezra.
I agree with you Vivi, Modesto never takes ownership on anything and I hope that he doesn't fire Chepina. He has to blame someone other than himself. I love the way that she puts that chamca brat in her place.
The nerve of Pluti running to Mad Dad. Dumb and dumber.

Another thing. :) It was quite interesting when Plutarco told Bastardo that they were made of the same madera-wood. Birds of a feather, eh? Vivi, all that I got was that Bastardo was to go and talk to Helena and ask why she broke up with Plutarco and to intercede on Plutarco's part. The motivation for Eduardo is that Plutarco would be the best father for his grandson.

Thanks for the speedy recap, Ezra. Much appreciated!

I so sympathized with Helena's expression when PLuty walked through her door as if nothing happened. Her face said in every language, "what the heck are you doing here and don't call me 'mi amor!" You guys are right, now he's stalking! Loved it when she handed him back the gift (although that scarf was really nice wasn't it? He can always re-gift it to Renato next Christmas.)

Lucia is killing me. Help me out here but shouldn't Lucia be comforting and supporting Helena and not the other way around? It takes a lot out of you when you break up with a novio and they were engaged, not just bf/gf. In her favor the physical comedy and antics of the actress playing her are very, very good....I just disagree with the way the writers are pushing this character into the wacky zone.

Rebecca's acting is very, very good with just about every character. We'll never really know but I'd bet that those two actresses came up with the idea of drinking from each others wine glasses. The two characters are deadly ambitious. A lot of times when I'm cooking with a friend we'll accidentally drink from each others wine glasses. But with these two ... I believe it is just reckless ambition. I agree with ya'll ... Great scene! Gertie

Rebecca's scenes are often my favorites. Of course we are supposed to hate her manipulating nastiness -- but she is hilarious -- and often the person she is manipulating is Pluti & we can cheer her on there. That wine glass schtick was very funny.

I love how Helena held her ground and didn't let Lucia in on what is going on with her -- and that she called Lucia on her inability to keep a secret. Now please let he stand her ground with Pluti & with Mad Dad.

Claudia, you deserve whatever bad comes your way -- I just hope it isn't Chepina who takes the blame for your nasty acts.

Thanks, Ezra! Love the chicken image. I've never seen those two together before; they are a scream.

And thanks, Madelaine, for the info on "Lo Que Mas." I was plotzing, worrying that my precious 8 p.m. slot was being threatened -- it's really the only one I can comfortably do.

I love those ugly -- I mean, really UGLY looks -- Eva keeps giving Modesto. I can usually catch them by looking up from the subtitles as soon as she says, "Ud. me cae bieeeeen" to the doctor. (I also love the shtick when she keeps saying to the doc, "I know you've been studying medicine for 75 years, but..." He always looks so dismayed.)

Thanks, Ezra. I think you picked the single best line of the episode for your title.

When Angelica said she got hired to be a model in the USA the first thing I thought of was Gaviota in Destilando Amor. She was offered a modeling gig in Paris. When she got there, she found out there was no modeling gig. She was in a brothel and they were planning on giving her an unwanted abortion so that she could begin her career as a lady of ill repute.

Wonder if Angelica's walking into the same type of situation?

Julie- I thought the same thing. But hopefully, since this is a comdey, she will actually end up at the Playboy mansion and become Playmate of the Year and hugh Heffner's next wife, or something.

Eva had an additional s slip-up with Modesto, too. She said "there's a woman for everything." Modesto remembered saying that to Juan, and demanded to know how Eva knew about it. (I don't remember Eva's explanation!) Regardless, it was AWESOME to see M's reaction to having his own words thrown back at his face.

Speaking of Modesto, I don't think he'll blame Chepina for the mix-up with the meds since she's the one who gave him the samples. Hopefully he realizes that if she'd swapped out the pills she would swap them back before handing them over. Instead, I think he will blame Eva.

I wanted to FF through Lucia's scene last night. She's REALLY getting on my nerves. What is that little pinchy thing she does with her fingers? It's very annoying.

Did Rebeca tell Angie she still is planning to become Mrs. Plutarco? SERIOUSLY? What is she, crazy?? Unless she's planning to poison him shortly after they tie the knot so that she can inherit the money he stole.

Julie, Eva's "explanation" was "Oopsie, my cell phone is ringing! It's on vibrate, but I still have to run awayz!" You think Modesto will forget all about it?

The creepiest thing in last night's epi was when Eduardo told Pluti that the reason he was having all this trouble with Helena was that he hadn't "ruled her with a hard hand." Bleeeyach. What a jerk.

Thanks, Ezra.

I'm glad the Eugenia fright was short. Claudia will be found out and maybe Modesto will heed Eva's words and move with her to the house in Pueblo.

Didn't Eva and Eugenia visit the Fern/Marcela house once? Maybe they will again and she will see and recognize Daniel. Or maybe Eugenia will hitch a ride in the limo when it picks up Claudia at music school and she'll see them together...

Since Eduardo is now to have hit Sylvia, I think it's only a matter of time until Pluti becomes violent with Helena, that will really win her over.

I too love Eva's ugly looks to Modesto (and PLuty). I crack up when she does the "I'm watching you" motion wi. Two fingers to her eyes then back at them. I think I've even seen her do it with three fingers which means, "I'm *really* watching you.

Blue Lass thanks for the translation on Eva's comment about the doctor's 75 years of experience. In the next scene I expect his sparse hair to be dyed black. Gertie

I'll "keep my eyes open" for that three-finger gesture!

Blue~~~ thanks for the convo with Bastardo and Pluti. They both need anvils now STAT, before either Helena or Silvia get hurt. Helena never would go for the ruling by the iron hand. She saw her Mama Silvia go thru that. Pluti tries that Helena will definitely kick him where the sun don't shine.

Oh, that thing that Lucia does with her fingers, I think has something to do with dogs. I know she whines like one, and also pants like one, while she rubs her head on a guy's jacket and she has done it with Helena, like a doggie beggin' for a bone.

Ugh... not appealing.

Anvils STAT...well said Mad. Thankfully, Helena proved she could handle herself in such a sitiuation, should it occur. ...And I hope it does not. Remember in the early episodes when she was looking for a job and the sleezebag interviewer shut the door behind them and tried to over power her? A very quick reflex to his groin had him on his knees. She won't allow it! Gertie

Ezra, hilarious title and recap! Thanks for sharing your talent.

Great scene between Rebe and Angel, with the wine shtick to add flair to the conversation.

Bastardo's encouragement to Pluti to use a "hard hand" with Helena won't go very far if he really tries that.

Yay Chepina! It's a good thing she took away the pills so Claudia can't pull a reverse switcheroo.

Had to chuckle at Lucia's list of requirements to Santi about the toilet lid, the toothpaste and shampoo caps, etc. etc. Every woman's list for every man.

La Paloma

Chepina had the line of the evening, after Claudia told her she was just a maid: "Con mucha honra. FUERA." Loved that.

Chepina is pretty awesome. Hopefully she tells about finding Claudia in the bedroom. Eugenia already suspects/knows which little brat is behind this; she just needs proof. Not that she'll tell anyway. She's much more forgiving and good than Claudia deserves.
