Amor Bravío #121 (Uni 116) Wed 2/6/13 "More Smoke and Mirrors and Viewerville Learns Who We Can Count On"

Life at the ranch is getting more interesting by the day and today’s capitulo adds more plot twists to our story.

The story begins in “The Bedroom” at LaMQ where Dan has been explaining to Miriam the reason he inherited La MQ.  Dan Sr and Agatha had an affair and eventually went their separate ways.  Years later, after Agatha died Dan Sr discovered that Agatha had had a son and named him Dan.  Dan Sr assumed that Dan was either their love child or would be a galan who could protect Camila from the ranch-grabbers.  So he decided that he should leave Dan the ranch.   However, Dan had an ADN (DNA) test and it turns out he was not a Monterde, but only the galan who could protect Camila. Ever the galan, he believed it was his debar morale (morale duty) to give Camila the ranch as she was really the closest living blood relative to Dan Sr.  Well, peachy says Misty Miriam, just give Camila back the ranch and we can go right back to Chile and pick up life where we left off.  What say you, Dan?

Green Pastures of La MQ:  Camila, strolling with Mariano is telling him that if only Miriam were not in such delicate health, they could tell Miriam the truth about Camila and Dan being married.  Miriam needs to know that she and Dan’s future is a wee bit different than it was before Miriam went into the coma.  Mariano asks her is she wants to fight for Dan (dumb, yet self-serving question) despite the obstacles.  Que?  Camila asks, not understanding what Mariano means.  He tells Camila to consider that maybe all these obstacles in the way of her living happily ever after with Dan may just be signs (enseñales) that they were just not meant to be together.  Nice try Mariano, but Camila insists that she knows what she wants- Dan- and will struggle for it no matter what.  Mariano assures Camila that he will always be there for her.  Laaaalalalaaaaalalalaaaaaalalala ….the music tunes up. She thanks him and he responds (with what will be the writers mantra of the night), “Cuentas conmigo!”  Count on me!

Back at “The Bedroom”:  Miriam insists that they can just leave right now because there is nothing to tie him to the ranch (atarse).   Dan scratches his head trying to think, errr, of how to stall.  He tells her they cannot leave just yet because there is something that he is still “interested” in (mmm hmmmm).  And, furthermore, he insists that Miriam have a checkup from head to toe to be extra-sure that she is well and ready for anything.   Miriam says she is fed up with doctors and tests and is not happy about this plan.  Dan insists that “mi amor” needs to be 100% okeedokee.  Well that little “mi amor” sends Miriam over the top swooning upon hearing Dan say that to her after such a long while.  Just for that, she promises him, she will go along with him.   Dan, breathing a sigh of relief, stalls a little more by insisting he needs to call the local hospital right this minute to make an appointment for her.  One just never knows how long the line may be in Aculco for post-comatose patients needing followups.  Miriam ends up being tickled by Dan fussing over her.

Courtyard of LaMQ:  Pablo is waiting for Camila to return from the horseback ride.  She returns and apologizes for not having spoken to Pablo sooner.   She has been distracted since her new husband’s wife has risen from the dead.  No problem on Pablo’s part.  He asks how she is doing with the situation etc.  He tells her that she can “Cuentas conmigo”.  Funny thing, she replies, that is what your brother just said.  He is lovely and you are lovely just like him. She tells him that it must also be hard for him right now with the complicated news of his true parents.  But Camila insists that if Don Dan had known that Pablo was his son, he would have given him full recognition, his last name, and taken care of Pablo and his mother.  Pablo wisely responds, “hubiera no existe”  (“would have” doesn’t exist).  He says he feels he is without an identity and roots.  Camila understands but adds that she is glad that he is her cousin because the only family she had before this was her mamita.  She also wants to share La MQ with him as he is the only direct heir to Don Dan.  Pablo refuses but Camila insists he is a Monterde.  Pablo continues to decline saying he will never feel like a Monterde.  He would, however, like to ask her the favor of renting him her house in El Pueblo.  Given how many ranch-grabbers she has encountered in our story to date and Pablo refusing to accept the ranch,  Camila looks perplexed.

Dr’s Office in El Pueblo:  Nat and Amanda sit, waiting for the results of her blood tests.  Amanda asks if Nat has seen Daddy Dio lately.  Nat says no as they wonder about his sudden absence after his frequent presence.  Nat figures he is tied up with all that is going on at La MQ since Miriam’s return.  Amanda wonders if no news is better than frequent news where Dio is concerned and Nat reassures her mamita to trust her with Daddy Dio.  The doctor enters with good news.  Nat doesn’t have typhoid or salmonella. Nosirreee. There is a simple reason for her illness.  She is pregnant -  seven weeks along to be exact.  Nat is shaken by the news and runs out of the office.  Amanda tells the doctor that this was not the news that Nat was expecting, to excuse the two of them, and that they will follow up with him later.  She runs after Nat and the doctor is left shrugging.

Luzma’s Room:  Refugio returns to check on Luzma asking if she has had breakfast.  Luzma tells her Piedad brought it early because she woke up starving.  Refugio says it is no wonder that Luzma is eating for two.  She tells Luzma that Padre Anselmo gave her good news after mass.  He has found two parents who wish to adopt Luzma’s baby.  A wisp of regret crosses Luzma’s face and she asks who they are.  Refugio says the Padre will not likely tell her who the parents are, but adds that the childless parents will see the adoption of Luzma’s baby as a blessing.  Luzma asks Refugio if she has children.  Refugio says, sadly, that she has not but would have wanted to have a “little angel” to call her mama.  But, it was not to be as her husband left her.

Courtyard of LaMQ:  Pablo asks Camila about renting the house.  Camila is concerned that it may not be good for Luzma to be far away from the care she needs and that she needs to rest.  Pablo says that Refugio will be there to help care for her and that Irena will be near to help Luzma get what she needs from school.   Camila understands, but admits that she is being super-selfish and doesn’t want Pablo to go away.  She says she won’t rent it to him …… she will give the house to him as a gift.  Pablo tries again to refuse but Camila insists he accept her gift.  He finally agrees.  She also insists he continue to receive his salary, and even a raise.  He tries to refuse, but Camila pulls top-cousin rank and he agrees.   Pablo thanks her and tells her he hope everything works out well with Dan because he doesn’t like to see her this way.  He remembers to tell Camila that Luzma wanted to see her – they hug and Camila goes to see her other new cousin Luzma.

Walkway Outside the Doctor’s Office:  Nat is running down the walkway heading for the stairs while crying.  Amanda runs right behind and catches up to her.  Natalie begs her forgiveness and Amanda says that although this is not what she wanted for Nat, this is not the time for reproaches.  Amanda assumes it is Yago’s baby.  Nat is afraid that Yago may not want to marry her.  Amanda tells Nat that she should tell Yago, but not to expect too much from him, especially since he didn’t even want to acknowledge dating her.   Amanda doesn’t want Yago to be the father of this baby.  She tries to reassure Nat that even if Yago doesn’t step up, that she won’t be the first or the last woman in this country to be a single mother.  Nat protests that she doesn’t want to be a single mother, that she wants to form a family.  Amanda urges Nat to tell Yago soon and adds she hopes that  she is wrong about him and he accepts the responsibility of the baby.  Viewerville suspects Yucky Yago is not likely to run to register at Baby’s R Us.

Dining Room Table:  The family is gathered for breakfast; Dio, Agustina, Miriam and Dan.  Agustina chitchats about the baby being such a quiet baby and that she never heard a peep from her the night before.  Miriam agrees that baby Agatha is so bueno, just like her papa Dan.  Uncomfortable smiles are shared around the table.  Miriam asks where Camila is and Agustina tells her she is an early riser (madrugadora) and has already eaten and is out with the bulls.  The bulls?  They explain to Miriam that Camila is the ranch’s veterinarian.  Speaking of the devil (del rey de Roma – assumed in this phrase but not said  “por la puerta asoma”), Dio observes Camila entering the dining room.  Miriam wants to chat with Camila but Dan provides a quick excuse that Camila has many things to do at the ranch.  Camila is barely able to excuse herself to Luzma’s room to give her some things “they” bought (ah hemmm! during the honeymoon) for her.   As she departs, Dan rattles on about Miriam going to the doctor to check that she is in A-OK health.

Viv and Rafa’s Apartment:  The one happy couple in town is talking about visiting Dan to deliver some info about some doctors to Dan and Viv wants to visit Camila.  The doorbell rings and Rafa opens it to Aaron.  Aaron has come to give them the good news that the books have arrived and that they can now begin the community reading program.  The first customer is none other than the apple of Viv’s eye, Roman.  Aaron chows down some food and announces he is on his way to the prison to teach LeoSordido his lessons for the day.

Jail in El Pueblo:  NOW we are speaking of the devil.  We see LeoSordido sitting in the prison yard practicing writing his letter ‘A’ ( Viewerville thinks Aaron better pick up the pace on these letters if Leo is still on the letter A).  Leo thought bubbles that soon he will be able to communicate and seek revenge against  those slimy cowards (mendigos mugrosas).  They will pay!

Teresa and Dante on the Phone:  Teresa tells Dante he needs to return to the ranch as soon as possible (Dante is somewhere exploring Mexico) because Miriam is alive.  Que?!  She tells him that Abe lied and that Miriam is actually alive.  Dante wonders how she took the news that Dan has remarried and Teresa says she doesn’t know.  She tells him to get back pronto!  Porque!?  Teresa tells him that if he ever liked Miriam, now is his chance to make his movida!  She tells him she will fill him in when he arrives and they hang up.  Teresa thought bubbles and arranges the happy couples in her head:  Dan stays with Teresa’s rival Camila, Miriam moves on with Dante, and the field is clear for Teresa to make her movida to Mariano.   This is the world according to Teresa.

Pablo and Mariano on the Phone:  Pablo has told Mariano about Camila giving him the house as a gift.  Mariano is not surprised that Camila has done this etc.  Pablo has called to ask if Mariano will help him move with Luzma.  Mariano replies…..(Viewerville:  All together now!) …. “Cuentas conmigo.”

Rocio’s Hotel Room:  Rocio protests while she is signing the divorce papers with Cayetano’s lawyer.  The lawyer tells her this is the best thing to avoid an exhausting legal battle (desgastante; pleito).  He leaves and immediately calls Cayetano to give him the news.  Cayetano is gleeful about the news that he will be a free man in a week.  As he hangs up, Mariano come into his office and asks what the good news is.  Cayetano reports that Rocio has signed the divorce papers and that now he is going on a long trip.  While he is gone he wants Mariano and Yago to be in charge of the ranch.  He asks Mariano to look over the financial assets and investments to see if they are useful and necessary.  Mariano asks why Pops has decided to travel?
Cayetano says that after all that has happened with Rocio lately he needs some “me time”!

Luzma’s Room:  Luzma asks Camila if she is going to fight for Dan. Camila says it is hard.  Luzma reminds Camila that lots of things are hard, but as Camila  herself told Luzma to fight for Pablo – despite all her insecurities – Luzma is telling Camila that she needs to do the same and have confidence that Dan will pick her.  OT, says Camila, she knows that Luzma and Pablo are planning to move to town.  She tells Luzma that when they move to the house, that she can remodel the house in any way she wants because she has given Pablo the house, as a gift and as a cousin.   While Luzma continues to call Camila Señora, Camila tells her to call her Camila and not to use Ud.  Luzma protests, “no me sale”, and they practice together.

Pastures of La MQ:  Dan and Abe have ridden the horses out into the pastures to have a talk out of earshot from others.  Dan asks Abe what happened to his records (expediente).  Abe says that he used his power to hide them and that when Miriam woke up, he needed the records to find Dan. Dan deduces that this is why Teresa could never find them when she went to Chile.  Dan orders Abe to find the records and to clear his name in Chile. Abe complains it will take time.  Dan says, then hurry up hombre!  He says he has a daughter and a family and wants a clear record.  Abe promises that it is the first thing he will do when he returns to Chile.

Hallway of La MQ:  Camila runs into Miriam in the hallway and Miriam asks for a hand in opening the door because she is holding baby Agatha.  Camila obliges and they enter.  Miriam urges a reluctant Camila to hold the baby and tells the baby this is Tia Camila, even though Camila and Dan do not share blood.  The baby fusses but Miriam, unworried, muses that baby Agatha has her daddy and herself by her side, so what else could baby Agatha need.  The comments fall on Camila like a lead balloon!

Back in the Pastures:  Dan continues his talk with Abe.  He says that besides wanting his name cleared, he needs his records for the case they are investigating - who tried to kill Dan.  It is clear that the shooter in Chile was trying to kill Dan and not Miriam.  Late to light the mental lightbulb Abe says he now realizes this and wonders why.  Dan tells Abe to look around at the size of the ranch and the house.  He says it is about money, greed (codicia) and ambition.  The person that wanted to kill Dan was trying to stop him from receiving his inheritance.  Abe suggests this was Alonso.  Dan is surprised to hear that Abe has heard that name before.  Dan sets him straight, that the real brains behind the attempt on his life were Dio and Isa and that they were trying to make it look like Alonso was guilty.  Abe asks if Dan has proof. Dan  admits they do not and that they could use his help to find whoever is guilty of hurting Miriam and all that has resulted from it.  Abe agrees with great passion that he will do anything to find justice.  Dan asks him if  Abe is ready to put his hatred for Dan aside to do this.  Abe swears he is and asks Dan to forgive him.  He says he was an imbecile and that he was blinded to the truth.  They swear together to do this for Miriam – Abe adds a little touching detail  “and for you”- and they shake over it.  Abe has gone over to the good guy gumshoes’ side!

Restaurant:  Isa and Cayetano toast with champagne and Isa asks what the occasion is.  Cayetano tells her that his divorce is almost final.  Guau!  Cayetano tries to give Isa a little  PDA (public display of affection) but Isa demurely declines.  She doesn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea since the divorce isn’t final!  Cayetano reluctantly agrees.  Isa prepares to leave telling Cayetano telling him she is planning to buy a car.  It seems she had to sell her car but she still needs one and plans to buy a more economical used car.  Que?! Cayetano says the Senora Albarran-to-be cannot be expected to be driving a used car.  He insists on buying her a new one as a gift.  Isa demurely refuses for about a second saying she doesn’t want anyone to know, errr, think that she is taking advantage of him.  Shucks no, Cayetano replies no one would ever think that!
Pablo and Luzma’s House in El Pueblo:  Mariano and Pablo are moving into the new house. Mariano spies a familiar face entering the house next door.  Lo and behold, it is New Girl.  It turns out she lives next door.  Que coinkydink.

El Hostal:  Nat picks up the phone intending to call Yago but loses her nerve.  She thought bubbles that she cannot imagine that Yago would turn his back on her now, knowing that she is pregnant.  She practices telling him the news.  Viewerville is skeptical that Yucky Yago will become a Prince Pablo!

El Rancho BV:  Bratgirl tells Yago that she has been the innocent victim of Rodolfo.  She was bored so she took Rodolfo up on his offer to make Nat jealous (I think).  Anywhooo, along the way, they spent some time together, had a few drinks and one thing led to another and…. well , you know what happened.  Yago tells Bratgirl not to blame the liquor that “a drunk knows better than to shoot himself in the foot”, or a drunk knows what they are doing (que no hay borracho que trague lumbre).  He needles her that the ranchhand broke her heart.  Bratgirl angrily denies this, but says that she was disrespected by Rodolfo and suggests Yago do something about it.  Yago ain’t buying it and tells her she’s no damsel in distress.  He leaves her to hurl a pillow at the door as he leaves.

Pastures of La MQ:  Rodolfo and Eleuterio blab on together about women and Bratgirl and how things didn’t go as Rodolfo had planned.  Rodolfo has decided to go tell Nat the truth about his dalliance with Bratgirl.  He will tell her that he was desperate over Nat not feeling the same about him and that he wanted to make her jealous.  Eleuterio is wondering if Rodolfo is going to tell Nat the whole truth cuz ladies don’t accept that info too well.  They blab a bit more using loads of slang and even harder to translate cadence!

El Hostel:  Nat is lying in bed.  Amanda brings her some food and asks if she has called Yago.  Nat says she left a message.  Amanda urges her to tell him sooner rather than later so that Nat can plan what she needs to do.  Amanda assures Nat that no matter what happens,…… (all together viewerville!) ….. Nat can “Cuentas conmigo!”.

Nat is on the phone with Yago. He asks if she is still sick.  She says no but that she needs to talk to him.  He is toooo busy and will be toooo busy all day.  She says she needs to talk to him about something that can change his life.  “Waddaya talking about?” he asks.  Nat doesn’t want to talk about it over the phone and insists they meet the next day at six, in the zocalo, so that 5 ft can recap Yucky Yago’s reaction to the news.

Police Station in Town:  Dan and Abe make introductions to PC Juarez.  They tell PC Juarez that Miriam is alive.  Que?!  Juarez asks for an explanation.  Before Abe begins the long explanation, he tells PC Juarez that he wants to say, in front of Dan, to PC Juarez, that Dan is innocent .   PC Abe and PC Juarez are going have lots to share and will be working together for justice and truth.  Abe tells PC Juarez….. (Viewerville: All together!)… “Cuentas conmigo”.

Camila and Miriam are still chatting in “The Bedroom”. Miriam asks Camila about her work.  Camila shares that she prefers the open ranch and Miriam says she is a city girl… Miriam wonders how Dan got connected to the ranch life after his life of computers and such.  In fact, she confides to Camila, “you must help me convince Dan to move back to Chile”….  The scene closes with Camila’s face of “Oh sh$#, now what?!”

Avances: Darling Ana says a little too much about Camila and Dan in front of Miriam.   Dan goes to visit Camila and Miriam follows to see what’s up.

Happy reading and chatting to all of viewerville. Now it's time for some "me time, sleep time".

Mena

Great job with the recap Mena, and with pulling out the "count on me" theme.

I'm so happy that Abe has joined the Justice League and will finally work to clear up Dan's legal mess in Chile, as well as work to make the bastards behind the murder attempt pay. I also hope he can find a way to trick Dio into doing or saying something incriminating, since Dio thinks he can count on Abe.

The episode ended with a 1-2 punch. Not only did Miriam ask Cami to help her convince city boy Dan to return to Chile immediately, she also noticed Cami's wedding rings when she took her hand and asked Camila who her husband is. Ruh roh?!

I enjoyed the two scenes with Cami and her new young cousins, Pablo and Luzma. Pablo looked so happy when she hugged and kissed him at the end of their talk. Yay for more family!

Luzma looked beautiful in that white/flowered long sleeved tunic.

I'm not pleased that Maria Elena, aka Mayelen, aka New Girl, aka La Secre, is living next door to Pablo and Luzma. I'm sorry, but her eyes just light up too much each time she sees Pablo.

Nice try Iliana, trying to get Yago to go beat up Rod to protect your honor. Hahaha! No one is buying that. And yes, she did tell Yago that it was Rod who tricked her into dating him, just to make Nat jealous. We all know how it really happened. Time for a new plan Iliana. Better yet, time for you to pack up your toys, leave the playground, and go home! There's a new girl in town.

Glad to hear Nat scold herself for not using protection.

By the way, Dan did not mention to Miriam that Don Dan also wanted him to protect Camila. He made no mention of the people trying to get the ranch to Miriam. I think he should at least start revealing some of this stuff slowly to Miriam. Keeping her totally in the dark and ignorant of some of the back stories might just put her in danger.

Great stuff, Mena. My favorite: Viewerville suspects Yucky Yago is not likely to run to register at Baby’s R Us.

I can't wait to see El Diablo's reaction to this. That should be amusing. Gussie's will be Snobbery As Usual.

It will be interesting to see what the doctor says about Miriam's condition. I agree with everyone yeseterday: If she can boink Daniel, she's ready for the truth.

The charro suit should have been a clue that Daniel was ready to stay in Mexico and even on the ranch.

Bratgirl should know better than to play a forged rape card, since that didn't work for Rocio. Iago would be the last guy to fall for that one. Although he didn't catch her eavesdropping, I'm sure he knows she did. He also knows her being of the same kind.

Abe officially becoming one of the good guys is the best development in this episode. However, I wonder when he will bring up the issue of this awkward trianble.

I figured Abe would become a good guy and help find proof in Chile.

Yet, I wonder if we watched another anvil set up. Dio will not take kindly to someone trying to find proof against his evil deeds in Chile.

Thanks for filling in the missing spots and providing us with a few laughs to boot.

Cindy

Damn, that's "triangle." I shouldn't post before the first cuppa.

I'm also disappointed that Leoncerdo isn't farther along with his lessons when he knows enough for a whole crime novel. We need some progress there.

Marvellous recap, Mena! It had all the elements I love best: great details, very helpful Spanish, and delightful snark. My fave has already been mentioned (about Yago's being unlikely to run to register at BabysRUs), but there were many others as well, including, of course, "(Viewerville: All together now!) …. “Cuentas conmigo.”" And I laughed and agreed when you said that Aaron had better step up the pace of LeonCerdo's lessons. How can he still be on A when he's so motivated? Perhaps we saw him reviewing backward from Z?

Hmmm...so Natalia's not meeting Yago until tomorrow but Rodolfo is planning to tell her the truth about his feelings tonight. That should be an interesting scene.

I'm happy that Abe seems to have his head screwed on straight, but perhaps balancing/offsetting that was the presence of Pablo's new neighbor, NG (which I think stands for No Good).

It's interesting that Mariano asked Cayetonto whether he was taking his trip alone, and Cayetonto said Yes. Guess he doesn't want to hear any more, um, baseless accusations (cough cough) about Hissadora.

With most TNs, I would assume that Dante's return to LaMQ will result in the pairing that I (and others) had predicted a while back: Cam and Dan, Miriam and Dante, and Teresa and Mariano. But with this TN, the writers have managed repeatedly to avoid the obvious. That makes me wonder whether Miriam will wind up with Mariano and Dante with Teresa. I can think of some good arguments against that idea, but.... And I love it that I'm not sure.

Wow, Mena, great job. What a great episode you got to recap. They sure do do a lot of Count On Me's. Good characters are good, so they are always reliable.

I loved the Camila Luzma scene with Camila getting Luzma to call her by her name. So cute.

New Girl should be called Cute New Girl.

Thanks to whoever said that Eleuterio's zipper was down in a past scene, now every time he's in front of the camera, I look at his crotch.

So Dan and Abraham finally had the talk. Abraham will be more en garde about Dion and what Dion tries to get Abraham to believe.

Natalia, Natalia, how could it never cross your mind that you were pregnant?

I keep expecting Ileana and Yago to have hot 'I hate you' sex.

So Isa can't seem to stomach kissing her fiance. lol.

As long as they don't break up Camila and Daniel. I'm still hurting over La Esposa Virgen.

My gut is telling me that if Cayetano actually takes this trip he's not coming home alone.

Dante and Teresa have great chemistry and I think she would be better for him than Miriam, but she wants Mariano. Ana doesn't like her; she's still trying to be a mini-Camila.

Tks Mena, super recap.

Sth that has been bothering me for a long time. Leonicio CAN shake his head. Did anyone think to ask him if someone hired him to do some of the things he did, up & down for yes, side to side for no, and go from there. Of course the TN would be over by now.

I can imagine what will happen to some of the characters, but for the life of me I can't about Yago. He's a skunk & I can't see him changing. He's not really evil, just selfish, self centered, greedy.

Amanda should have told someone that; she was able to get Padre Baldomero to blink to "yes" or "no" when he was paralyzed.

Mena - great recap. Spot on with the theme. I liked "This is the world according to Teresa." What does she mean, that's the only way Mariano will be for her. Um, what about what Mariano thinks lady? She had a pseudo-villainess moment there, put all the chess pieces in place, but hey she's fighting fair, so it's all good.

Isadora told Cayetano that she wanted to get married in secret so his sons couldn't talk him out of it since there so against poor, innocent her. That's why the secret long trip: it's a marriage honeymoon! Totally paralleling Dio/Auggie, they'll prob return home casados and drop a bomb on the baby boys. And then Mariano will have something else in common with Cami: an evil stepparent!

Man, I SO want Yago to fall for NG and have her be like "you are AWFUL to your lil bro, who is TAN GUAPO! And you're bailing on your pregnant, secret girlfriend?! I banish you from my presence, scumbag!" See how he likes being ejected from someone's life and not getting what he wants.

Variopinta - I think Cami made that suggestion, but the comandante said that the method wasn't appropriate. I think maybe it's not considered really accurate because under the circumstances, people could say you were leading the witness (because they're desperate to communicate, have someone punished for their plight, and, esp in this case, are not highly educated, and do might be extra frustrated not being able to communicate).

Vivi- I agree on Illy. Enough, oh FireHeaded One! Back to the BadLands from whence you came!

I knew we'd see Leonicio tonight...

"One thing for Sure Leoncio should have probably written 2-3 Tell-ALL Books by now! LOL!

Aaron promised him months ago that by the end of that week he should be able to put together a sentence.

That Cheshire Cat may have gotten his tongue but Gracias Adios she left his fingers in Tact!"

And yes that secretary sure did appear as I had hoped!!!

Thanks Mena, great episode even though I missed most of it watching Alvin Ailey dancers at the Kennedy Ctr. last night. I have a question for all. I plan to go to Peru for an immersion course in a couple months and wondered if anyone had any information good/bad/indifferent on Enforex and Donquijote Language schools. (Actually it was someone from this group who told me about Don Quijote in the first place). All comments will be appreciated. Thanks.
Yola

If Caye and Isa take the same honeymoon trip Dan and Cam took, I fear ol' Caye might have some balance issues near the edge of the observation deck.

Great recap, Mena! Thank you:)

Never thought I'd say this, but it was good to see Leonicio last night. The pace of his learning will probably escalate now.....there aren't enough episodes left to continue at the pace he's going.

So happy Abe has joined the Justice League!

Yago may be in for a nasty visit when and if Dio finds out about Natalia's condition. I know she's desperate right now, but really, he is so not marriage material, at least for her, unless Daddy Diablo promises him the world in exchange...which can happen. Still, biggest mistake of her life if she marries him.

I don't know how Camila's going to get herself out of this one, meaning Miriam asking about the wedding ring. Frankly, I completely agree that if Miriam can get it going under the sheets, then she can learn the truth.

Haven’t read the recap or comments yet, but couldn’t wait to post.

OMG!!!! I am stunned!!!! Nat is pregnant!!!!!

Seriously, Nat couldn’t guess when she was sick that she could be pregnant?!

Once she tells Iago, I’m sure he’ll dump her and then she finally see what a colossal jerk he is. Kudos to Amanda for not berating Nat for getting pregnant. Amanda, Agustina or Isa—who gets mother of the year?

I was hoping they would take a different route and when the doctor came in, he would tell her she needed a transplant or something and Dio would be the only one who was a match.

Kind of like how Teresa is manipulating the situation so that she gets Mariano. She’s not lying or being too deceitful. And it IS best for everyone (at least as far as Viewerville is concerned).

Did Cam tell Mariano that Dan had chosen her? He seemed to happy to me to have gotten that news. If she didn’t, then I think that was out of character and used as a plot device to keep Mariano on the string.

NG is Pablo’s and Luz’s neighbor?! Could she be a red herring? Unfortunately, it’s not likely that she’ll cross paths with Iago considering Iago wouldn’t be invited to Pablo’s and Luz’s place and he wouldn’t be visiting LMQ—assuming NG gets the secretary job there.

Looks like in the avances, Ana spills the beans. I wanted this to happen soon, so that Miriam would have to have someone to lean on (Dante) in her grief and gradually fall in love with him. So very glad they aren’t stretching this out to Ultimas Semanas.

Nanette

Mena, thanks for your great recap and the theme I completely missed :)

When Isa was/is sticking it to characters I like, she's not that fun to me but last night she was hilarious. That old coot kept trying to put the moves on her and she was faster mentally and physically. She's a mess. I wonder if she'll continually avoid him; if she doesn't take him out during the honeymoon (a guess), watching her scheme to NOT sleep with him will be quality TV.

I am sad Nat really thinks Yucky Yago will be there for her. If he hasn't stepped up to the plate now...

Oh no New Girl or No Good, great Juanita. HellaShelle you've created a great scene for NG!

Thank you, Mena, for another great recap. The vocabulary is helpful for me and of course the dialogs.

For some reason, I really enjoyed seeing Aaron chow down that plate of food. Maybe because usually everybody just picks at the food.

Abe didn’t look very comfortable on that horse. Dan seems to ride pretty well. *giggle*

I am not surprised about Abe turning out to be a good guy, but still glad.

“They blab a bit more using loads of slang and even harder to translate cadence!” Sing it, sister.

Isn’t it time for Iliana to exit stage left or something? She is my least favorite character.

I am hoping that Rudy-boy will want to marry his Naty when he finds out she’s preggers. He’ll step up and Yago will fall down and Nat will end up loved. Works for me.

Excellent recap, Mena!

Nat’s pregnancy is about to bring Dionisio to the forefront in dealing with Yago and the Albarrans; you’re so right Mena that Yago’s first trip won’t be to Baby’s R Us.

I wonder how Augustonta will react about Dio's new found daughter being unmarried and pregnant?

Isadora didn’t want any of Cayetonto’s cuties – she cracked me up when she turn her face and call for the waiter to avoid the kiss.

What was up with Dionisio – tripping all over himself to get the chair for Miriam while both Dan & Abe were closer and asking Cam to eat with them knowing full well of her routine?

Love the sisterly bond between Cam & LuzMa

Abe was officially initiated in the Scooby Gang – but he still has to pay the repercussion of his abuse of power.

I wouldn’t jump for joy yet that Miriam will know the truth in the near future. I think a lot of people around will slip then Cam, Dan and their entourage will cover. Miriam will figure stuff out on her own and come to the truth herself like Cam did about Dan.

When Cam was holding the baby, her wedding ring was completely visible and Miriam never spots it until she held her hand; no wonder she hasn’t seen Dan’s yet—she’s completely blind to the obvious.

Such a great episode last night and great recap! I LOL'ed at "babies r us"! I feel bad for Nat but come on! I don't understand why people get so shocked to find out their preggers? You did the deed, that's the consequence. I actually laughed when the doctor told her the "good news". I can't wait to see Yucky's reaction!

I loved all the scenes with Cami and her cousins! So sincere!

I agree it's time for brat girl to vamoose! I'm so sick of her little games! She literally has nothing better to do then irritate everyone around her.

I'm also very concerned with la secre, I'm not sure where the writers are going with this, are Luzma and Pablo meant to be? I didn't root for them too much at first but after what happened to poor Luzma I had to so now I'm not sure what's going to happen.

I'm also glad Abe is on Dan side! Excellent job pointing out a theme, I never would have noticed it.

Based on the advances, it's going to be another doozy of an episode tonight! Can't wait!

Lily

Mena--Cuentas conmigo, too. Your recaps are always such fun. I love the scenes with a little lovin' in them, not to be, this time. But having Abe move over to the Scooby Doo side was great. I hope sly, fork-tongued, smooth-talking Dio doesn't make him dudar en Dan. He needs to meet the rest of the Justice League gang.

I wonder what Dan told Abe on their ride back home of all the other things Dio has done. Do we need an Anon207 list?

UA--Trianble = three-legged table. Works perfectly here--Miriam/Daniel/Camila. We just need the 4th leg to keep it from tipping over.

Juanita--Yep, NG is better named No Good.

Just want to add, please excuse me excessive use of exclamation points, just excited other people like like to watch TN's.

Also about Teresa's world, she couldn't be more wrong, those match ups would be expected but Mariano's not interested and Miriam chose Dan over Dante. It's going to be Mariano and Miriam because it fits perfectly with Dan's promise to be with baby agatha, Miriam and Mariano will be Dan and Cami's neighbors at Buenaventura!

Lily

renata770/Myo--
Dio at the breakfast table was looking forward to making Camila more miserable than she already is. Yes, of course he knew her routine--I don't think I've ever seen them eating together in a very long time. You could just read it in his fakey smile.

I'm going to love Augie's old fashioned response to Nat's pregnancy. I can almost hear her saying, well, what did you expect, look at her mother.....

With 45 episodes to the series, I don’t see new love interest and relationships developing between Cam and Mariano NG and Pablo or Miriam with whoever; except maybe Teresa who will be coming within the hexagonal CAM-DAN-MIRIAM-MARIONO-DANTE.

The following are yet to happen:
Dio and the virus at the ranch
Leoncio and his quest for revenge
Isadora marrying Cayetonto & rule the Albarrans
Augustonta and the fraudulent life insurance
LuzMa and her pregnancy
Abe/Alconco PD/Scooby Gang search of proofs to bring down Isa & Dio
Dio and his unrequited love for Cam
Nat & Yago with Dio in the Mix
Miriam finding out about Cam & Dan
Miriam and her “illness”

Myo-

... and Vivi-Rafa-Roman and tio

Anita, Dio was so sadistic at the table--did you notice how he was encouraging Augustonta to needle Miriam about the baby--there was a silent complicity between those two and when Cam entered the room him saying "hablando de la rey de roma" with all the gleeful enjoyment on his voice and all along looking at Dan & Cam discomfort and Miriam absolutely clueless about the undertone ... that was a great scene ...

Excellent Mena. Laugh out loud moment: “Nat doesn’t want to talk about it over the phone and insists they meet the next day at six, in the zocalo, so that 5 ft can recap Yucky Yago’s reaction to the news.”

Good. Glad to see the Cam did tell Mariano, for all intents and purposes, that Dan did choose her.

Dan made a mistake by calling Miriam “mi amor”. I feel really sorry for her.

Wasn’t Aaron so cute mooching food off of Rafa’s plate.

Vivi: “By the way, Dan did not mention to Miriam that Don Dan also wanted him to protect Camila. He made no mention of the people trying to get the ranch to Miriam. I think he should at least start revealing some of this stuff slowly to Miriam. Keeping her totally in the dark and ignorant of some of the back stories might just put her in danger.”—plus it’s the truth and would keep him from hemming and hawing trying to think up bogus reasons.

“I keep expecting Ileana and Yago to have hot 'I hate you' sex.”—well, they do deserve each other.

HS: when I was thinking about Teresa’s manipulations last night, I also likened it to a game of chess, moving all the pieces to checkmate Mariano.

Lily: have you noticed that Ileana’s plans never work? You have to give the girl snaps for her persistence. Besides, it’s fun seeing her slapped down every time she tires something.

OT: finally worked my way up the library’s Downtown Abbey queue to #1. The only thing is, I worked my way up the queue for BOTH series 1 and 2. I have a week to finish them both. Guess who’s doing a DA weekend marathon? ☺

Nanette and Viv - Since it has come up twice I will make a brief comment... my paragraph about Dan talking "in general" to Miriam about why Don Dan gave him the ranch was just more a rerun of the history. I revisited his role of "protecting Camila" just for the readers historical cue ... kind of like giving an excuse to give him a nickname galan.... not because he went into this detail with Miriam......

I'm glad that Rodolfo is going to tell Nat that he still loves her before Yago tells her that he doesn't want anything to do with her and the baby. That way Rodolfo won't be seen as just trying to be with her because she's pregnant. I really have no idea if that is what Yago will tell her, but I would bet money on it.

Hey fellow commenters, when did the story of the virus unfold... All I have heard is random references to it so it seems disjointed to me. Anyone have the rollout of this plot?

Also, I have to laugh when Dan does his er um wellllll stall routine. Miriam looks at him like he is dense or just a tad locito!

Lily, you wrote: "It's going to be Mariano and Miriam because it fits perfectly with Dan's promise to be with baby agatha, Miriam and Mariano will be Dan and Cami's neighbors at Buenaventura!" I too think there's something to be said for these pairings (as I said earlier today), but I do have some doubts. Won't it be rather awkward, to put it mildly, for Miriam to be neighbors with the former "love of her life," Dan? Indeed, it may also be uncomfortable for Camila and Dan to have Miriam so nearby. There's also some question about how well city-girl Miriam would like country ranch life. These may not be insuperable obstacles, but they do give me pause.

Mena- We don't have a lot of info about the virus yet. Dio has mentioned it 2-3 times to Isa, almost in passing. We'll just have to wait and see how it unfolds.

I'm also just going to wait and see what happens with these couples. It's too soon to tell who may end up with whom at the end since we haven't seen most of these potential couples interact with each other. Some people may not want to pair up. Aaron, for example, seems downright gleeful just concentrating on all his community work and not dealing with this silly love stuff everyone else is getting bogged down in. Good for him! I agree it was cute when he totally mooched Rafa's breakfast. Rafa seemed to think it was funny too.

Mena - Thanks. Love the cuentas conmigo riff. Always appreciate the vocab. My favorites lines:

"He tells her they cannot leave just yet because there is something that he is still “interested” in (mmm hmmmm).”

"Viewerville thinks Aaron better pick up the pace on these letters if Leo is still on the letter A."

I cringed when Dan called Miriam "mi amor," but it's only natural since he had once been so close to her and still cares for her.

Silly Nat. I wonder if Yago will 1) tell her to get an abortion, 2) claim the baby isn't his, or 3) not show up.

Maybe Dan's Mi Amor was just a slip. Like when you accidentally call your husband/boyfriend by someone else's name. Not that that ever happened to me.

Flaco thinks his first reaction will be to say "how do I know it's mine and not Rodolfo's?" Of course, that won't fly for long. But it will at least give Nat a further clue to his complete D-bagness.

Cathyx: It wasn't so much that Dan said it. I agree, I think it was natural. But his saying it lulls Miriam even more into thinking everything is the same between them.

Of the three, I'm feeling most sorry for Miriam because she's out of the loop.

Yola,
I went to Don Quijote in Guanajuato, Mex for 3 wks. I was very impressed, but have nothing to compare it to. My problem is getting the words out of my mouth, the teachers are so good,I could do it.
And Guanajuato is a wonderful city, very safe. I stayed with a family, actually a single woman with one other woman.

Viv, Thanks! I guess my "monkey mind" didn't miss that virus story. I just cannot figure out how they tossed that into the story somewhat randomly. It made me think of LQNPA - a writer needing a quick plot twist to help Dio weasel into La MQ.

Re: Aaron: I think he is on his way to becoming a Buddhist monk who doesn't not marry. He needs to find a monastic group who embrace his meditation and free thinking ways!

Re Miriam: She is such a lovely actress. Someone said radiant. No kidding. SHe has a little different cadence to her Spanish and once in a while I have to pay attention because she accents the words in an unexpected way. But I love the upbeat of her Spanish.

Mena, I remember that the mention about the virus just happened again not that long ago when Dion was talking to Isa I think on the phone, and he was telling her about Miriam showing up and how with that happening and the virus he is going to release on the herd, that Camila will be all his.

Thanks, Mena, what a great job. Not only do you describe the details of what happened but manage to capture the mood perfectly. Excellent humor as well:

"...he needs to call the local hospital right this minute to make an appointment for her. One just never knows how long the line may be in Aculco for post-comatose patients needing followups."

"...Aaron better pick up the pace on these letters..."

Well, Leoncio seems to have gotten the hang of A rather well at least.

I think that we are about to be treated to a lot of squirming by Dionysio as he is exposed. I do hope they take their sweet time allowing this to unfold.

Carlos

I found the passage here from UA's recap:

Phone Conversation (El Diablo at LMQ/Hissadora at the hotel): He tells her that Miriam and the baby are at La Malquerida. The virus has been sent for while the separation of Camila and Daniel has begun and they will have to end their relationship. Daniel will return to Chile and Camila will have to sell the ranch. Then she will be his. Hissadora says “So that was the call that changed your life” and asks if this is what he expects. Of course. She comments on her place in his life and he tells her that she will always have an important place in his life. He is amused as he says “More than important, woman! With the future husband you're going to have you're going to need me more than ever!” Diablolical laugh with minor key dissonant leitmotif, ending in a timpanic flourish.

Mena, thank you. That was superb, all the more so because I actually fell asleep through most of it (post-fluexhaustion). But even so, I'm too dense to have picked up on the "Cuentas conmigo" theme. Very clever. Do you suppose the writers are playing with us?

Why is Leoncerdo still wearing that bag over his mouth? And I completely agree with you Variopinta. The logical expedient of "Yes/No" questions would have would have shortened this plot by a lot.

I realize that Notso-Honest-Abe will have to pay mightily for the errors of his ways, but I fear the enormity of what Dio may have in store for him when he discovers that his partner-in-crime has gone over to the other side.

Karen: "...watching her [Isa] scheme to NOT sleep with him will be quality TV." LOL! Yes indeed!

And thank you Paquita for the previous recap. I was too tired to comment at the time, but I did enjoy it very much.
—Agnes in NJ

Agnes: I think someone commented before that the bag over Leo's mouth is a for drool. Ugh! I'm going to gag!

Nanette, thank you for that information. Not so sure I should have asked the question. It's a plausible answer, but a little more than I wanted to know.

And Mena, it wasn't your stellar recap I fell asleep through; it was the show last night and I missed many critical moments. So thanks again for all your fine and humorous detail.

I don't think Yucko will say the baby isn't his because he knows for a fact that Nat was a virgin the first time they had sex. He'll probably tell her to get rid of it or be totally dismissive "your problem, not mine." Here is one instance (the only one) in which I will root for Dio - hope he gets ahold of Yucko bigtime, although I'd rather not see him marry Nat at all.

Dio was definitely egging Gussie on. He's planning on making Camila see things his way "por las malas" as he said to Augustina, so I'm sure tonta Gussie will be his puppet in saying and doing everything necessary to make it uncomfortable for Cam/Dan/Miriam to remain there. He'll be overly friendly and nice and she'll take care of the snark and sarcasm, so again he'll come out smelling like a rose. By the way, that fake watermelon on the breakfast table in this scene was sooo distracting (to me)!
Soyyo

Great stuff, Mena. I was also laughing at your comment about about Yago's being unlikely to run to register at Babys 'R Us. My other fave: "Nat doesn’t want to talk about it over the phone and insists they meet the next day at six, in the zocalo, so that 5 ft can recap Yucky Yago’s reaction to the news."

Did anyone else notice that Dan and Miriam's last kiss lasted a bit longer than the previous one?

I agree that Miriam is charming, and something about Camila's "fighting" for Dan's love with a poor woman who's been in a coma for several months just rubs me the wrong way.

I'm afraid that Cayetano's "long trip" is going to be a one-way journey. And when Isa takes over the ranch and kicks Yago and Mariano off, where will they go? Mariano better hurry up and finish that house he's building.

Aleta

I would be more miffed if Cam just gave up and walked away from Dan out of guilt. I think she's doing it just right. Letting the man she loves know that she loves him and wants to be with him, yet being mature enough to ask him what he wants and giving him the space to deal with the situation with the other woman the best way he can. She is being remarkably sensitive to Miriam's needs I think.

I wonder if Isa is planning on doing away with Caye in Europe. It would be easier to hide her involvement that way.

The virus was mentioned at earlier points; don't remember when it was first mentioned.

I've been forgetting to mention that fake watermelon on the table, which I think looks rather tacky.

Back to El Diablo:

I am wondering what he expects of Camila when he finally makes his move. Thanks to the roles Cesar Evora has played before I am wondering whether El Diablo gets off on the cringing. We should expect to see more instances of him invading her personal space in upcoming episodes.

LOL UA, The watermelon caught my eye too.... I kept looking back and forth at the bowl with it and Dio's plate. The funny thing is, that Dio had what looks like a slice of watermelon on his plate at breakfast so it made the fake watermelon almost look like a very poor prop!

Juanita said: "There's also some question about how well city-girl Miriam would like country ranch life."

Yes, just wait until she gets some manure on her prissy little pumps with the prissy little bows. That kind of bad news is likely to kill her. Even if I were able to get past my annoyance with her, I don't think I could ever find her charming.

Soyyo, that watermelon had me mesmerized. And it looked like they were eating real watermelon, too.

Nanette, you were hoping that Nat needed a transplant and that Dio was the only person who was compatible. Wow! what a price for Nat. Dio is the criminal, not Nat. This wish sounded strange coming from someone who is against "teasing" bulls for sport. I'd rather be teased than in need of a transplant. But on the other hand, I don't think that animals have the same emotions or interpret them the same as humans so they may think it's a game.

Variopinta, thanks for the response on Don Quijote, I'm tending towards using that language school.

Anon 7:02: My point was I had hoped they wouldn't have used the same tired old pregnancy plotline. Also, I thought the dynamic of Dio being the only one to save Nat as an interesting development. However, I wouldn't seriously want to put sweet Nat in that kind of jeopardy unless there was a happy ending for her at the end of it.

Yola, This site has a list of many different Spanish schools with reviews. It also has some fun language practice activities (I like the slide shows): http://www.123teachme.com/

I agree that Guanajuato is a really nice place.

I can recommend everything about this school highly:
http://www.queretarolanguageschool.com/

A friend has studied a couple of times at this school and been completely happy: http://ixbalanque.com/

I've been to Copan Ruinas. It is very small, but seems safe and a great place to hang out. Costs in Honduras, Nicaragua, or Guatemala are going to run approximately 50% of costs in Mexico.

Nanette, I thought your idea was refreshingly creative.

I don't think we'd have a transplant situation in a series that already went the way of Rare Blood Type Needed.

As for Dionicio promising Iago the moon to marry Natalia, it would not surprise me one bit if Dionicio were to picture himself as Don Vito Corleone.

Thanks Carolina

Why does everyone think that Dion will find out about the pregnancy? They may not tell him.

Dear TN watchers and recappers and lurkers and folks in general...this blog is for lively discussion about the TNs we all watch and love.

I am sure glad everyone agrees, so please keep the discussion lively and lovely. Have opinions and have respect for one another. Who needs negative stuff..... there is enough of that in the newspaper....

I for one promise to honor the statement above - cuentas conmigo!

Yola,
Where are you planning on going to study? You can order a catalog & also get a newsletter from Don Quijoti online.

I noticed the fake watermelon also & I usually miss those things.

Cathyx,
I think Dio will find out about the pregnancy because Natalia will be visibly upset (at Iago's response) and he'll 'charm' it out of her. He'll play the concerned father and she'll want to feel somewhat protected, even if it IS from her scum-of-the-earth daddy. She and Amanda may not intend to tell him, but I think it will come out. Plus, it's a small town - everything comes out.

You're absolutely right, I think it would be awkward but worse things have happened on TN's. I also feel that Miriam's comments on being a city girl are of the "famous last words" variety where she may find herself somewhere completely unexpected. I do feel bad for her but I can't imagine Dan being able to see his cute little agatha very often if Miriam returned to Chile :/

Lily

Could someone please tell me the meaning/significance of the red string (I think it's string) bracelet that the baby had on her left wrist? I've also seen Camilla wearing this type of bracelet and have wondered if it's just the current style or if there's more to this string bracelet than meets the eye.

Thank you.

Fatima

Fatima- I think it's for protection and good luck.

The single string is a Kabbalah bracelet.

Anon 7:02, Bulls "teased" are almost always killed as a result. In contrast, transplant is a chance for life.  And, at least the transplant patients are under anesthetic while sharp objects are plunged into their body. But I imagine you know this already!?

good job.keep it up.
