Amores Verdaderos #66 Mon 2/11/13 The Aftermath of the Facehugger Attack: the Wrath of Valvanera Bickie and the Death of Julius Caesar

* José Ángel fortunately survived the FATS™ (Face Attack Telenovela Style by NovelaMaven, all rights reserved to Meta*Mart) without permanent scars, but alas, the damage is already done because Valvanera Bickie™ (by Anita, all rights reserved to Meta*Mart), the famous Mexican socialite was totally stalking her favourite bodyguard, and naturalmente she saw the kiss. While Victoria flees from the crime scene, the Angel tries to get rid of Jocelyn politely, but all his efforts are in vain. She’s in heat, and she wants to taste that delicious-looking Arriaga cake so desperately that she even offers the blushing, stuttering and embarrassed guy money for a night. You’re married, Angelito? Nevermind, so am I! I think Arriaga now knows what it is like to be in Guzmán’s shoes, because Jocelyn is the older version of Nikki… with a more easy-going nature and less brain cells.

* At the Balvaneras Guzmán has a cunning plan to fire his mother from her job: he tells Tomasina that Paula’s former employers weren’t satisfied with her work. That’s strange, says Tomi, because she seems such a nice woman, and she must be a trustworthy teacher because she was recommended by Cristina. Frankie es impactado.

* At her apartment Paula is doing the usual stuff: crying, moaning and whining about her enstranged son. Where’s the fastforward button?! She gets a phone call from the private detective who’s investigating after Dr. Alberto Montaño. She actually wants Adriana to find her daughter, so she gives the detective a green light to tell Aníbal everything about the doctor. But on the other hand, she also orders him to tell her ex-lover a big fat lie about about Candelaria.

* Victoria tries to get out of the exhibition as quickly as possible, but Doris (the other airhead friend of hers) recognizes her. Oh, what a pleasant surprise! It’s so good to see you here! In the meantime Arriaga also tries to flee from the Facehugger, but Jocelyn doesn’t accept no for an answer. “Dear Angelito, don’t be mad at me, you’re so irresistible, please don’t tell me that nobody has proposed you the same! Oh come back, you cutie pie!” *LOLz* Arriaga is totally helpless, where is Ellen Ripley when you need her? A few meters away from them Victoria is hiding behind the panels, but Doris. Just. Can’t. Shut. The. F. Up. If I was Vicky, I would’ve already hit her with a frying pan. And suddenly the Angel notices the very familiar blonde ponytail! Uhh-ohh. While Jocelyn is introducing the puzzled guy to her friends, Victoria quickly leaves the building.

* During dinner Cristina tells Lili she wants to do something constructive with her life. She knows José Ángel loves her but a woman shouldn’t sit between four walls forever. *Viewerville: that's our girl!*

* The roles are totally reversed tonight: while Cris is having a peaceful evening, Victoria is going into a jealous rage. She indignantly tells Tomasina that she saw them! She saw them kissing! Arriaga also turned out to be a jerk! And Tomasina asks her the 64000 dollar question: but why are you so angry at him? He isn’t your husband. Well… uhm… well.

* In the meantime Nikki and Guzmi have a sweet scene together: Neta Equis notices his tears, and she advices him to solve his problem with Paula. Right now! But he can’t leave now because he’s working! No problemo, then we’ll go together, says the girl.

* Felipe, Beatriz and Dances with Awful Bangs have a nice dinner together, they already look like a family… until the brainwashed little demonspawn, aka Guillo shows up and pulls a hissy fit. He had a nightmare in which Bea and Salsero were kissing! She’s a liar, a liar, a liar! Later she tries to have a serious talk with her son, but the little boy keeps saying that he doesn’t love her anymore. *Viewerville: damn you, Lowlife Leo!*

* At the Arriagas Guzmáncito asks Cristina about Paula, and he learns that 1. Paula is “the friend of his deceased mother” and 2. she lives in the same building. Quééé? Frankie is double impactado.

* Victoria returned to her workshop and now she’s torturing herself with a flashback of the kiss. Oh, qué horror! She looks at the painting that gave her so much joy, but she can’t stand it anymore… so she pours a huge amount of black paint on it. *Well, at least Caesar can rest in peace again.* Arriaga, who just entered the room, screams “NOOOO!”, and now he tries to find out what the heck happened to Victoria. The raging woman says she has every right to destroy her own artwork, and after all, what does Arriaga know about art? Just because he went to the exhibition with that whor… with her friend, he didn’t became an expert overnight! José Ángel pulls his trademark puppy eyes, he agrees that he doesn’t know anything about these things, and then he leaves. Vicky looks puzzled and ashamed.

* While Guzmán and Paula are having their ten thousandth fight upstairs (fastforward), Neta Nikki stays at the Arriagas, and has a nice (not) conversation with Rosana. Tatiana. When Lili’s ears start to fume with annoyance, Nikki laughs and assures her that she was just joking: she knows perfectly well that her name is Damiana! *Murmurs from Carlos and Nikki’s table: how can someone not love this girl?* Lili asks her why she didn’t go with Francisco. Yo creo que te lo voy a explicar con manzanas (I think I’ll explain it to you with apples), says Nikki. She isn’t a busybody, she doesn’t like to meddle in other people’s business, captas? Though she and Guzmi are super-super friends, and actually, they are inseparable. But there could never be anything between them. Liliana looks interested, so Nikki masterfully stabs the knife right into the Little Orchid’s innocent heart: she would never ever have a relationship with a married man. Bammmmmm! When the crying Frankie rings the doorbell, Nikki says goodbye to Tatiana and they leave. Cristina, who’s oblivious to Liliana’s pale face, states that this Miss Nicole is not only very annoying, but she has a very bad memory, too. She never gets Lili’s name right! It seems the vitamins never reached her brain.

* Kendra calls Salsero but now that his evening with Bea was ruined by Guillo, he isn’t in the mood to listen to her shenanigans. In the meantime Big Angelcito is sitting on his bed and he’s having a conversation with God. Good Lord, you created women… do you understand them?

* Cristina has a fantastic dream-nightmare, in which José Ángel is a famous and rich model/actor/whatever. They are surrounded by fans and reporters and the big guy is a true diva, who loves the attention! However, Cris can’t enjoy his fame for a long time because she’s tossed aside by the other Arriaga fangirls.

* In the morning the hot bodyguards are talking about their obligations, strategy meetings and other professional stuff in the bathroom, but the members of Viewerville don't hear anything because they are too busy with looking at those fine bodies. Angel and Frankie agree that they are friends and they hug each other. *A manly hug? That’s what I call fanservice.*

* Victoria is having breakfast in her bed. Tomasina wants to talk about her birthday party, but Vicky isn’t in the mood for celebrations. Tomi notices the ribbon on her wrist, so Vic tells her about Arriaga’s special gift. The Furry Fornicator, the father of the year enters the room, he wants to talk about Nikki. She doesn’t study, she doesn’t work… so it’s high time to find her a husband. Vicky is like “QTH, this is the worst idea ever”.

* Beatriz complains about the manipulative Lowlife Leo to Crissie and Lili. Now that she and Santino became good friends, she’s worried that Guillo might tell his father about them. Then Cris informs Bea about Frankie’s visit last night. Sí, impactada.

* Betty visits her mother and asks her about her new job. Why oh why did she go to the Balvanera hacienda! It’s dangerous! And if Aníbal and Francisco ever find out about each other, they’ll never forgive her what she did! Paula cries that she just want to get close to Francisco. Fastforward -> Pau and Bea hug each other.

* At the Balvanera’s gym Guzmi and Nikki talk about Paula, and Neta Equis promises that she’ll be gone in a week. She has a master degree in firing piano teachers. Frankie notices that she’s exceptionally kind with him, and he knows she’s a nice person, even though she likes to pretend otherwise. Nikki smiles and says that yes, sometimes she likes being nice, captas?

Aribeth: Can't wait for your marvelous recap.

Note to Carlos: Now I am wanting that T-Shirt that says:

Carlos knows everything, lol. You were so right Carlos, about Ms Vikki. I tip my hat to you : )

Airbeth--I'll be waiting, too.

Lovvvve the title, especially the Death of Julius Caesar--although to be accurate it would have to be the Black Death of Julius Caesar!

I'll order a bunch of "Carlos" t-shirts right away. Any color preference?

*desperately crying - okay, not that desperately, but I'm very curious, neta*

I can't find what Carlos said - did he predict Ms. Vicky's reaction?

By the way, these Balvanera girls (Nikki, Adri, Cris, Vicky) do have a temper, don't they. :)

(P.S. It's Aribeth, not Airbeth. :))

Sorry, Aribeth, for some reason I started seeing Airbeth long ago (guess it was just in my delusional mind), and that's how I see you. Like Luzma on AB, I'll try change and think of you as Aribeth..at least I'll type it that way from now on.

..Was it this one from Carlos?
>>Vikki my darling, welcome to Cristina's world.

He was probably referring to Crissy's unfounded jealous rages, si? You got it when you referred to the Balvanera girls tempers.

Between several feet of snow, frigid temperatures and a lengthy power outage (now over mercifully), I'm happy to be back and will be catching up. Hope everyone else is now safe and warm.

Oh my! Aribeth, The look you captured on Vicky's face was priceless! Anger simmering - a woman scorned indeed. The only issue is - she is not his woman and not his wife. On this topic, my limited language skills lead me to believe the Angel will tell her this tonight according to the preview.

And of course the title was perfect.

I wasn't surprised that Vicky felt "betrayed", but didn't expect her to react so childishly. Perhaps she is truly her daughter's mother! Do we now have insight into where Nikki might have gotten her petulant, somewhat vindictive behavior? Ack.

Vicky has stumbled and fallen off the pedestal(for both myself and the Angel). I was truly dismayed she ruined the painting. As you and Anita pointed out, temper tantrums do run in the family! You would have thought thought that her experiences with Cris would have hardened her a bit and let her realize that things aren't always what they seem (the kiss)...

And yes, ITA with you and Anita that tempers (and jealousy) does run high among the Balvanera women.

I have a confession. I want Frankie and Paula to reconcile. I know she has (and continues to do) so many things that are wrong and hurtful. I just can't stand his torment and hurt. His anger is ripping him apart. Huge sigh.

I'll take a Carlos t-shirt Madelaine. Anita, any color will do.

Can't wait to read the recap!

Diana

Diana: Glad your got your power back and the storm has ended. Good to see you back : )

Anita: I think I want the new spring color of day-glo pink with white lettering for that T-Shirt, lol.

Aribeth - Great title. Looking forward to your recap.

I know it's crazy, but I found myself wondering if there's some way to restore the painting.

Diana - So glad your power is back.

Neice: Ya know I had the same thought, lol, about the painting. I think she regretted that black paint as soon as she threw it on there. And the Angel, the look on his face, like what you go and do that for, priceless, lol.

I thought Paula looked ten years younger without all that harsh eye makeup when she was talking with Bea last night.

Anita: I know that feeling, I called "Anna KareNina" "Anna KareRina" all my life... and I was so proud of my knowledge of literature. :)

Diana: I want them to reconcile, too.
I'm glad that you're all right again. This winter isn't fun anymore, I hope spring is coming soon.

Diana,

" I want Frankie and Paula to reconcile. "

and

Doris,

"...Paula looked ten years younger without all that harsh eye makeup..."

Sipis to both thoughts.

Vikki is even more jealous than I had imagined...yikes!

Anita,

one less painting for the gallery... was it insured?

My favorite scene was Nikki and Tatiana. They are very cute together and I hope we see them together as loving cousins later on.

Carlos

Aribeth - Your title and picture are great. Hope to be able to read the recap but I've been running behind. Thanks for all the ones I've read.

Diana - so glad to hear you are safe and your power is back. I thought of you on Friday. Sorry about the lack of power.

Anita - I'll take a Carlos t-shirt too in purple.

Carlos- You mean Nikki and Pobreana? Or whatever...sha la la la.

Aribeth---I'm so glad that you are on the Amores recap team. Although you are on the other side of the world, your recap's are worth the wait.

Diana---Glad to hear that you have your power back on. Monster storms are sure no fun, I'm glad that you are ok and are getting back to normal.

Does anyone know what Nikki said to Little Orchid to make her cry? I thought that Nikki was starting to turn to the nice side, now, I'm not so sure.
the gringo

Gringo - Nikki told Little Orchid that Guzman is married.

Oh, Vivi and Carlos: We ought to get Meta Mart to carry shirts that have every variation on Lili's name with Sha La La Sha La La in various orchid colors : )

Yes! I would order a Shalala T-Shirt. LOL

Victoria! Sheesh ... I half expected her to throw herself on the ground and start kicking and pounding her fists on it. Overreact much? Too funny!

Anon 2:34: Must run in the family the jealousy streak. Seems Ms Vikki is just as much a jealous woman as her half sister Cris. I wonder if Adri is the same. She hasn't displayed it yet, cause she is intent on finding her daughter. I didn't expect Ms Vikki to be so jealous. Hmmmm.

I noticed the commercial for Porque El Amor Manda (with TBLMOE) coming in March. Which telenovela will be ending by then?

Doris: That would be Por Ella Soy Eva. The Colunga one replaces that.

PEAM is a comedy and Colunga's co-star is Blanca Soto of El Tal fame. Can't wait : )

One Little Orchid t-shirt sold--I'll take any size.

Thanks Niecie MD---Nikki looked like she enjoyed to see Little Orchid hurting.
the gringo

Thanks Madelaine. I wondered if PESE was the one ending soon. Looks like I'll be carrying two telenovelas in March. ;-)

Carlos--I regret to announce that the painting was not insured. However, one art critic has posited that this is a new wave of art--The Angry Middle-Aged Woman Tirade superimposed on the Traditional Male Dominated World of Classical Rome. It would look great in Joselyn's living room where she could stare at Big Angel's face all day long.

Recap is up.

Anita: I love the new offerings. Meta*Mart forever.

PEAM has very good ratings in Mexico, and actually, in the last 1-2 months it had a lil' bit higher ratings than AV. It seems to be a very likeable and funny show.

Aribeth - Every line is a gem, but I'll just pick out a few faves:

"At her apartment Paula is doing the usual stuff: crying, moaning and whining ... Where’s the fastforward button?!"

"...but Doris. Just. Can’t. Shut. The. F. Up. If I was Vicky, I would’ve already hit her with a frying pan."

"Well, at least Caesar can rest in peace again."

Anita – The new Meta*Mart offerings are a hoot.

Looking forward to seeing how Miss Vickie "regals" her way out of this one.

Sure hope Cris lands a job soon.

Hmmm, so Friday is Vickie’s birthday and Sunday is a security training exercise. No idea what this means but sounds like a setup.

Thank you Aribeth! I just loved "Dances with Awful Bangs"...soooo true!

And the screen shots of Vickie/Tomasina and the $64000 questions were just a hoot!

Overall super recap. Marvelous!

Niecie-Thanks for reminding me that it's always important to pay attention to even the things I think are mundane. Can't wait to see what the birthday and security reindeer games will bring us.

Aribeth: Wonderful, marvelous recap. Loved every line.

Ms Vikki sure is jealous. I never thought she would be like that.

I liked Arriaga having a little convo with Dios, that was really funny. Probrocito doesn't have a clue, lol.

Cris' dream was funny too. Angel was a diva in that, but we all know he would never act like that. Maybe Cris is rethinking the modeling career suggestion.

I feel so bad for little Orchid to hear that Guzmi is married and not the whole story either, Nikki doesn't even know that, we don't even know it. So sad. Now I wonder what lil Orchid is gonna do.

Loved your FF>> with Pau. Too funny.

Santino and Betty are too cute. I really hate Leo and what he has done with Guillo. That little boy was so sweet and sunny and Leo couldn't stand it. Where is that cast iron skillet for Leo????

The screen caps are awesome, perfectly complimenting the recap text, and capturing just the right expressions.

In the previews, Guzmancito is seen announcing to the assembled staff that yes, he is married. I bet that will happen right at the end of the episode!

TN4ever

I really enjoyed your recap, Aribeth. Thanks for reminding me of Cristina's observation:

"Miss Nicole is not only very annoying, but she has a very bad memory, too. She never gets Lili’s name right! It seems the vitamins never reached her brain."

I was cracking up at how seriously she said it and how seemingly oblivious she was to the fact that Ratiana's heart was breaking.

Aribeth,

I hate to admit it, but it also occurred to me (albeit briefly) that:

"...Jocelyn is the older version of Nikki… with a more easy-going nature and less brain cells."

Carlos

Aribeth:

I just love your breezy style. Once again I am blown away by how witty you manage to be in your second language. I see my friend Sara has already cited my favorite phrase -- "Dances with Awful Bangs."

[I am, however, a little troubled over possible copyright infringement; Meta*Mart abogados will be meeting with Patio abogados to iron out FATS rights later.]

Diana:

It sounds like you had quite an ordeal. I'm so glad your power is back on. Stay warm.

Anita:

You've been very busy, I speak for all couch potatoes when I express my gratitude for the Nerfazo modification allowing the hurler to reel the projectile back in without ever moving from his or her seat. Well done.

For El Tal, our nerfazos were shaped like avocados; for the Pit, we used habaneros; here perhaps we need manzanas, i.e. manzanazos. ¿Captas?

BTW, since the initial "b" and "v" are indistinguishable in Spanish, Valvanera Bickie is a hilarious echo of Jean Marie's "Guzmán, Francisco." But you knew that ...

Aribeth--What a fun read. Poor confused Arriaga. Poor confused Lili. Not so poor Pau, not feeling too much sympathy yet. But you handled it well. I loved your description of Jocelyn trying to hold onto Arriaga for the night:

>>She’s in heat, and she wants to taste that delicious-looking Arriaga cake so desperately that she even offers the blushing, stuttering and embarrassed guy money for a night.

It couldn't get any better than that, and then it does:

>>In the morning the hot bodyguards are talking about their obligations, strategy meetings and other professional stuff in the bathroom, but the members of Viewerville don't hear anything because they are too busy with looking at those fine bodies. (I'm embarrased by the truth.)

NovelaMaven--Manzanas it is. After all, it is the fruit that Eve offered Adam---and he took it and bit into it, luscious, smooth, round, juicy--hmm, Arriaga, I think God knew exactly what he was doing when he created women.

Anita, manzanas work on many levels:

We can explain things with them like Nikki is always offering to do;

Or we can express more earthy sentiments by throwing our manzanazos at the flat-screen.

AAARGH!!! I have been torturing myself because i could not get anything to populate on this page beyond this text box... only now i realized for some reason my google login had been erased...
Aribeth, thanks for the recap. I am sure it is great, even if i am about to read it just now.

Aribeth---I would like to compliment you on a few of your great lines but there were just to
many of them---it's always a blast reading your great recaps.
the gringo

Sorry to be back so late. Wonderful and funny recap Aribeth! Thank you.

Great recap! Absolutely loved Nikki this episode even more so.
Glad everyone could see more of the sensitive side of her.
Team Nikki/Guzmancito

Anita: I read some of the comments again and loved the new stock of items in the Mega Mart. Especially those long handled cast iron skillets, wonderful! But we need a faster SUPERSIZED PIE CART that go at least 15 miles per hour. I know a guy, know what I'm sayin' lol. Maybe I can get him to manufacture a couple by the end of this TN to use. Oh, and I'll pay extra for the day glo pink T-Shirt. I love that color. lol.

Aribeth: This was a sensational mini-novel - the accompanying pictures added to your amazing recap. As others noted: I loved every word. Perfection!

"Jocelyn is the older version of Nikki… with a more easy-going nature and less brain cells", "fanservice" and "fume with annoyance" were among my favorites. All of the events were stated in a witty, wonderful way.

At least Paula has sensitivity for Adriana. Too bad she has none for her dear friend Cris. I want to shake her and wake her. She is so cruel in some ways yet in others very understanding. Guilt is a huge motivator.

I finally realized who Jocelyn reminds me of. Joan VanArk. I kind of wish she would go away now...

Loved the "man hug" between JA and Francisco. As you noted, who was listening to dialogue when we could watch such eye candy!

Poor Bea! I cann't get mad at Guillo but I hope she proceeds with the divorce. Of course, that will likely bring scary repercussions from Leo. I shudder to think what they might be.

Not enjoying Vicky and the Angel not getting along. At all. And unfortunately, it just got worse in last night's episode.

I hope Emilia sees the cast iron skillet offerings!

Great comments all.

Thank you Aribeth. My day is off to a sunny start because of you.

Diana
