Amor Bravío #122 (Uni 117) Thu 2/7/13 Amor Complicadissimo

Miriam notices Camila's stricken look and apologizes for asking.  Camila finally says she's a widow and her husband just died.  She tells Miriam not to worry about it.  But now Miriam wants to chat…"Have you been married long?  It must have been so hard on you!" Camila says he died in a car crash with her sister…so she's going to fake like Alonso was the husband in question.  "If something like that happened to me…I love Daniel so much, I think I'd die!"  Camila reminds her she has a daughter to live for. Miriam agrees, but brings it back to Daniel and the two of them being there for their daughter.  Camila actually closes the door on Miriam as Miriam is trying to continue the conversation.

She stops in the hallway to try to take off her wedding ring, but it doesn't appear to be budging.  Dionisio comes up (Ugh, just go away!) to ask what's wrong.  Like, duh!  Camila says Miriam asked about her wedding ring, but, no, she didn't tell her the truth.  Dio thinks that was the right move, since telling her the truth could kill her.  He tells her men are cowards and he doesn't think Daniel will ever dare tell Miriam the truth. "Oh, I'm sure that's his intention, but with her so frail…she'll take a long time to be ready for the truth.  I don't think it's fair to keep you waiting."  Camila reminds him they've been through shit before…she's going to hang in there.  Dio says that he'd have a tough time abandoning his wife and daughter after they were hurt by something he had done.  He urges Camila to think about herself and her happiness.  "You don't deserve to be the mistress.  You're too valuable for that."  Camila runs off crying and Dio gloats that everything is going his way.  He thought bubbles that Camila will be free for him soon.  Yuck!

Cayetano takes Isadora to buy her a new car.  The sales guy, knowing what side his bread is buttered on, immediately suggests the model Isadora had picked out earlier.  She goes through the motions of refusing, but Cayetano insists.

Ana sees Camila and is actually happy to see her again.  She asks why Camila is crying and Camila tries to lie and say she's got an infection.  "You got married, didn't you?  You should be happy!"  Ana understands things not going the way one wants.  She wanted Camila to be with her dad, and look how that turned out.  She says if Camila had married her dad, he wouldn't let her cry…he'd make her laugh, the way he does for Ana.  As they hug, I get distracted…are that child's nails French manicured, or am I imagining things?

Daniel goes into the church and gives Jesus a "seriously, Dude?" look.  He asks for help for his confusion and Padre Anselmo is right on the spot.  They sit in a pew and Padre Anselmo says he didn't do it with bad intention.  "Yeah, but they're both here now!  I'm hurting Camila, Miriam doesn't know the truth, and I have no idea what to do!  Why is God doing this to me?"  Padre Anselmo doesn't know.  He does know that Daniel has to choose.  "But someone's going to get hurt either way and I just don't have the heart to do it!"  Padre Anselmo points out that the Jewish faith allows divorce and the Catholic Church would annul his marriage.  I know he means it as "Don't worry about the churches, we can handle things either way," but in a way he's also saying, "Don't think there's a church law that's going to make up your mind for you!"  "Figure out who you love and make your decision.  Miriam needs to find out as soon as possible, though…if she finds out by accident it's going to be as bad as when Camila found out about you."

Camila goes into the chapel at La Malquerida and remembers her wedding day.  She asks what if she were to leave him and let him get back to Miriam, she'd feel like a coward.  But if she gets in the middle, she'd feel terrible.  She doesn't know what to do and cries for help. Well, there's no Padre Anselmo in the chapel….

Dionisio is trying to buy random expensive stuff for Natalia while Agustina tries to talk him out of it.  Dio gives up on her and goes to a sales associate and asks her to pick out some things.  He tells a grumpy Agustina he wants to give his daughter what she deserves.  He refuses to listen when she says he can't buy her love.  Well, Dio's determined to try.

Viviana, Rafa, and Aaron start unpacking books.  Roman is fascinated with a book on animals.  He wants Vivi to read it to him and gets upset when she suggests that he try it first and then they work on his reading together.  She has to bribe him with a promise to tell him the story of the time she went to take pictures of elephants in Africa.  Tolentino has noticed the bond forming between Vivi and Roman…haven't we all.

Camila goes to her cabin and calls Daniel.  She tells him that Miriam saw the wedding ring and asked about her husband.  "I told a half-truth.  I told her I was Alonso's widow and he'd just died."  Daniel is about to talk to the doctor who's seeing Miriam.  He asks Camila not to doubt his love.  He'll go to the cabin as soon as he's out of the doctor's office.  Camila remembers Miriam saying she'd die if anything happened to Daniel.

Miriam, Caridad, and the baby are hanging out in Miriam's room.  The nurse thinks she's looking pretty good, but Miriam says she still feels weak and just not right.  The nurse says it's going to take some time to be completely well.  She notices that Daniel isn't back yet.  Miriam says he hasn't called either.  He always used to call. Caridad convinces her to go get some fresh air.

Ana tells Luzma and Refugio about seeing Camila in the hallway.  Refugio asks Ana to help her bake a cake later and Ana thinks they should make 2--one for each ranch.  Uh, oh…here comes Miriam.  "You must be Luzma."  Luzma introduces Ana and Refugio.  Miriam tells Luzma there's nothing better than being a mother…"you'll see!"  I'm pretty sure telling Miriam how Luzma got pregnant wouldn't be approved by her doctor.  Refugio goes to fix Luzma something to eat.  Ana tells her not to forget about the cake. Then she turns on Miriam…"Hey, who are you?"  "I'm Daniel's wife."  "Daniel?  But he's married to Camila.  You can't be his wife!" Miriam looks stricken and Luzma looks shocked.  Yeah, when important news is supposed to be kept from someone, it helps if everyone ON THE PLANET gets that memo.

Miriam asks for clarification.  Luzma tries to cover, telling Ana she has the wrong name.  "Camila's husband's name was Alonso."  As Miriam remembers that, Ana is shaking her head behind her.  "Why are you confusing the two of them, Ana?  Did they look alike?  Physically, I mean…because the names are nothing alike."  Luzma's facial expressions are having no effect on Ana.  Ana continues to insist that she's not confused.  "She was married to Mr. Alonso, but…"  Luzma breaks in and says Ana doesn't spend a lot of time at La Malquerida, so she doesn't know what goes on around there.  Conveniently, the baby starts crying.  Miriam hesitates before leaving to see to her, saying Ana seemed awfully sure of her information….  Luzma says "Don't worry.  She's wrong.  Daniel is your husband and the father of your baby.  There you have it."  After Miriam leaves, Luzma has to explain that Miriam doesn't know what happened…and then she starts explaining the rest of the mess

Daniel meets with the doctor who saw Miriam.  He asks about Abraham's insistence on not giving Miriam any big news right now.  The doctor's response is that comas are still a big mystery and some people recover like nothing happened, some people never recover, and some come out of the coma, but with serious consequences.  It appears that Miriam is in the third group, but he'll need to run more tests to find out just how bad things are.  Daniel tells him that since Miriam woke up, she's been told a lot of lies and he doesn't think they'll be able to keep up with all the lies.  He doesn't want her to find out they've been lying to her by accident and die.  The doctor shares his concerns and wants to start with testing and treatment right away.  He's going to bring in a whole team, including a psychologist.

Luzma finishes explaining everything to Ana.  Ana feels bad for Camila, as does Luzma.  She thinks just, oh, transferring affections to her dad would be just peachy.  *sigh*  I might be willing to cut her the slack I'm not cutting Teresa on this issue, but only because of her age.  Why has no one told this child yet that "en el corazon no se manda"? (You can't give your heart orders.)  Ana has gotten over her previous dislike of Camila, since she now has Teresa to compare her to. "How can I get Camila to love my dad?"  Luzma looks at her with pity.

Teresa and Mariano are having lunch.  She lays it on thick about wanting to get back together with him.  Mariano says they can't force it.  "I can't give you a chance.  You were important to me, but there's not a place in my life or in my heart for you."  Teresa heard about Camila, so she's convinced Camila is the reason he won't give her a chance.  Mariano says that's right.  He loves Camila and he thinks it's time to take his shot.

Camila has assembled the main staff--Dorotea, Piedad, Rodolfo, Eleuterio, Hipolito--to ask them for a favor.  "I need some discretion.  As you've noticed, Mrs. Miriam has arrived with her baby and her brother. Mrs. Miriam can't find out that I'm married to Daniel."  Rodolfo wonders for how long, but Camila doesn't know.  She has to fill them in on exactly who Miriam is and why they can't say anything to her about…well…anything.  Piedad wonders what the hell they CAN tell her.  "She knows I was married to Alonso and that I'm a widow.  Basically, what I'm asking is that you not tell her anything about my relationship with Daniel." Hipolito, though he points out he's the newest one there, says they can handle that and it'll be the way she wants.  Eleuterio has a question, though…which wife will Daniel stick with? Rodolfo tells him to shut up. Camila says she doesn't know, but they need to talk to all the ranch hands and fill them in as well.  Eleuterio gives them a hard time for not asking the question they really wanted to ask.

Teresa calls Mariano a consolation prize to Camila and says he doesn't deserve that.  "She doesn't love you!"  Mariano thinks she can learn to love him. My facial expression is mirroring Teresa's.  Although…she's thinking he can learn to love her.  Or at least to pick up where they left off.  Mariano tells her it ain't gonna happen.

Dionisio and Agustina go to the hostal to drop off Natalia's presents.  Amanda tells them Natalia's sick, so they really should come back some other time.  Dionisio goes up the stairs shouting for Natalia.  Neither Amanda nor Agustina are happy about this.

Dio finally finds her room.  Natalia lies and says she's fine, just tired.  Dio drops off the bags, laughing delightedly, bragging about how he bought her exclusive designer clothes. Natalia doesn't want to accept it.  She tells him she doesn't have anywhere to wear clothes like that.  Dio says he just wants to see her in them sometime and he doesn't want her to reject his gesture. Natalia gives in and hugs him in thanks.  I find myself wishing she'd throw up on his jacket right now.  He tells her she's a Ferrer now and her life is different.  She doesn't have to keep living so simply.  He's giving her a credit card so she can buy whatever she wants to and get cash advances.  Dio won't take it back, reminding her that if she doesn't want to use it she doesn't have to, but she can at least keep it for emergencies.  Natalia, honey, emergency trip to the Bahamas…think about it.  Also, Omar's going to bring her car over tomorrow early, whether she wants to use it or not.  And then Daddy!Dio wants a kiss.

Amanda offers Agustina a coffee or a tea, but Agustina refuses.  She's still pissed that Amanda would dare lie about the father of her child that way.  Amanda once again tells her that when she's able to prove the truth, she hopes it's not too late for Agustina.  Please…she's so far gone already.  Agustina's titanium-lined beanie lives to fight another day.

Osvaldo's secretary brings in an envelope from Mexico City containing…the copy of Amanda and "Hector Gutierrez"'s marriage certificate.  The secretary points out that they need Dionisio's fingerprints in order to prove anything.  Osvaldo doesn't know how he's going to get them, but he's determined to do it and prove Dionisio's a creep!  Isn't the fact that Amanda was married to someone, anyone, a little bit of evidence in her favor?  Sure, Dio's probably going to say, "See, Hector Gutierrez, that's not me!" but if he wants to keep being Mr. I'm So Honest I really think he's going to have to fork over those fingerprints.

Daniel gets back to La Malquerida from the doctor's office.  He hesitates by the truck, finally putting on his hat.  Caridad tells Miriam that he's back, but he didn't come into the house.  I think Caridad is realizing something is wrong.  Miriam wonders what could be more important than her and her daughter.

Daniel gets to the cabin to find a crying Camila.  She doesn't know how to behave around him anymore.  Daniel says it's the same with him.  She tries to keep some distance.  Walking over to the desk to ask how it went with the doctor.  Daniel says he'll take Miriam in to see the doctor first thing in the morning.  Camila tells him that he needs to fork over his wedding ring.  She's already taken hers off.  She insists, even though it's difficult.  "What will you tell her when she sees the name?"  Daniel says he'll tell her that he lost his wedding ring. "But what I really lost is our intimacy and you can't imagine how much that hurts." He asks her to keep the rings together and promises that when everything is resolved and they can be together again, they'll wear them as a sign of their love.  "We'll wear them our whole lives." Camila can't take it anymore…she dissolves into tears and accepts a hug finally.

Yago meets Natalia in the square.  She tries to cushion the blow, and then gets the words out…there's an Albarran bun in her oven!  Yago is impactadissimo!

Tomorrow: Yago dares question the paternity of Natalia's baby; Isadora shows off her engagement ring to Snotty Bitch; Daniel climbs into bed with Camila.

Seriously. Just put Miriam in solitary confinement already. There is no way for everyone to make sure they're all telling the same lies to her all of the time. They'll have to start having mandatory 5am meetings to discuss what they said the previous day so everyone can back each other up.

Thanks Kat!

"Agustina's titanium-lined beanie lives to fight another day."

Now that's funny!

I have to make a comment about the avances: I'd hate to be the person who wronged Dionisio Ferrer's daughter.

“Yeah, when important news is supposed to be kept from someone, it helps if everyone ON THE PLANET gets that memo.” Very funny! It’s ridiculous to think they can keep this up.

“Agustina's titanium-lined beanie lives to fight another day.” It’s going to be ugly when that beanie is finally ripped off.

For me, it was definitely a highlight for me to see Mariano straightening out Teresa. He’s a straight shooter. I can’t blame him for going after the woman he loves anymore than I blame her for going after him. After all, you can’t manda your heart to stop loving, either.

Thank you, 5 footer!

Great work, Kat.

I was hugely amused at the shopping scene. El Diablo clearly knew Natalia's favorite color (though not necessarily her favorite styles) and whatever his motive for this I had to laugh at how he's not thinking ahead here. How does he expect to get the love and respect of a daughter who not only spied on him for others but who would really hate what he's looking to do to Camila?

He knew how to get the sales clerk to assist him when Gussie clearly didn't want to (It's a job skill to him) and he was clearly annoyed with Gussie and her ridiculous attitude.

Considering that they aren't exactly kids, the idea of having a stepdaughter should have occurred to her. Not to mention that since there are so many single mothers in Mexico and the men have been culturally expected to fool around anyway, why should this be such a shock to anyone? Most people have lives of their own to be concerned about.

She's still being bitchy to Amanda, who doesn't deserve it.

After the scene with El Diablo and Natalia I am wondering what he really feels for her. However, since he will soon have to find out that she is pregnant that's when we'll know. It will be amusing to see Iago's face when El Diablo goes after him.

Now back to the truly important stuff. Love your point about the memo to the Planet because these lies and half-truths are not sustainable. Something's gotta give and that will happen before anyone is ready for it. This latest thing about Miriam's fatigue looks like my speculation is about right.

Super recap, Kat. I loved your remark about Agustina's titanium-lined beanie, and I also cheered when you said (about Dio's showering presents on Natalia), "I find myself wishing she'd throw up on his jacket right now."

My first thought last night when Dio gave Natalia a credit card that she could use "for emergencies" was that she could use it to pay for an abortion, but then I thought "no one pays for an abortion with a credit card" and then "this TN may be unconventional, but I doubt that they'll have her want or have an abortion." I don't know whether Rodolfo will step up and offer to marry her, but that doesn't seem like a good way to start a marriage. Nor, of course, would Dio's bribing or coercing Yago. And I'd like to see something better for Natalia than single motherhood. I suppose she could always have a miscarriage.... Sigh.

Cambiando de tema, I was happy to see that Amanda's marriage certificate included fingerprints. I hope they're not just hers. Somehow, I fear that Dio would be too savvy to leave his. I hope I'm wrong. (The odds do favor my being wrong. :-) )

Ana's revelation to Miriam, coupled with Dan's not coming immediately up to see Miriam, must surely give her some food for thought. Unless she, too, has a titanium-lined beanie, she's likely at least to become more uneasy.

I'm eager for tonight's episode.

"are that child's nails French manicured, or am I imagining things?" I wondered that as well, for a ranch girl, where's she getting her nails done? and how old is she anyway?

I was consoled by calming effect of the Padre Anselmo scene with its rational choices and call for action; a pity he wasn't there for Camila.

What young woman wants to be dumped with a bunch of "random expensive stuff " that some slimeball pretender just picked out for her. I need a shower!

"I'm pretty sure telling Miriam how Luzma got pregnant wouldn't be approved by her doctor." Mis sentimientos, exactamente. This gal's a bit too frail for her own good. Bring on that psychiatrist!

The Teresa/Mariano scene was s-o-o icky. As was the Dionisio/Natalia scene. I feel smothered in ICK.

Are Augie's sidewards glances supposed to indicate a brief moment of conflict in which the truth tries vainly to penetrate the beanie?

Please please please, Osvaldo make photocopies of that documento with the huellas of Hector/Dio/whoever!

And muchas gracias Kat! I love your recaps.—Agnes in NJ

Ana is 11 and she lived in a city for a while before coming home to the ranch; maybe she does them herself. It's not like she does any work in the fields.

On the subject of fingernails, I'm surprised that Hissadora's aren't longer. All the other female characters seem to have nails that are appropriate for who they are.

If Osvaldo doesn't remember about xerox copies (or computer scans), Margarita will.

Gracias 5 ft.

Out of the mouths of babes.

At least Dionicia put Augustina in her place about calling his hija, esa muchacha, in her demeaning way.

Miriam isn't stupid, she knows sth is up & I'm sure she's going to find out what.

Kat- Wonderful job as always. It's a shame you and we didn't get the continuation of the Nat-Yago scene. It looks like it will be ugly, but you would have made it hilarious. Can't wait till tonight.

I don't think Ana ever really disliked Cam. They danced together at Luzma's wedding just days after she got miffed at her about marrying Dan. Plus, she wanted to be a vet even before meeting Cam. I think once she accepts that Cam will not end up with her dad, she'll still see Cam as a cool role model.

I laughed when Dio picked out every yellow item in the store. I wanted to slap Gussy for her ugly attitude towards Amanda, and in the woman's house no less!

I hope all you Caraymates in the path of the super snow storm stay safe and warm.

ViviDC: " I wanted to slap Gussy for her ugly attitude towards Amanda, and in the woman's house no less!" Every ugliness she perpetrates on the decent folks around her is adding to the weight of her anvil. She's playing this role well, but I can't help but wonder how much doubt has crept in behind that wall of arrogance. The ice is getting thinner under her feet and at some level she must sense it. —AgnesNJ

Did anybody notice that baby Agatha was wearing a red string around her wrist? Perhaps it was the previous episode, but I'm sure I saw it clearly. Is this a Jewish tradition?
—AgnesNJ

Agnes- The red string question often comes up because so many tn actors wear them. We know in Hollywood and many other circles Kabalah followers wear them. I haven't done enough research to see how this ties into more traditional parts of the Jewish faith. Someone else might know.

But I do know that in Africa, the Caribbean, and throughout LatAm red strings are tied on the wrists of babies for good luck and to ward off evil. This might the case of a tradition so old that it's not really tied to any particular faith or one tradition.

Thanks 5 ft. You're comments along with the recap are always a treat. I usually think the same thing at those moments.

It's not hard to get fingerprints. Just save the glass he was drinking from.

I hated that scene with Nat and Dion. I wanted her to throw him out and not only did she not do that, but she acted all happy.

It's time for Teresa to look for Dante. Mariano just isn't into her anymore.

I don't get these young people. If a girl you had sex with tells you I have news that will change both of our lives forever, why wouldn't the first thing you think of be a baby?

Kat thanks for your recap. Loved your comments about Aggie beanie and Nat's fantasy accident w/Dio.

I dread seeing Nat have live through the reality anvil but she created this fantasy Yucko that is not the person she is with. I would like to see Dio scare Yucko but it will be a true tragedy if they marry. I hope Amanda can let her know about the misery of marrying a bad man.

UA - Miriam's frailness is becoming an issue though I am still holding out hope for a resolution that has Cam with Dan and Miriam not dead.

One of the reasons I've lost patience with Mariano is his timing. If Dan were to pick Miriam, does he think he'll be with Cam the next day? It will take more than a minute for Cam to recover and I don't see him waiting patiently as a "friend." His hope seems as unrealistic as Teresa's desire to get him.

Yeah for the marriage certificate. All Os has to do is tell Dan to swipe a glass Dio was using right?

Agnes- Just did a quick Google search and found accounts of the red string on the baby's wrist in India (where it's called Kavala...hmmmm), Jamaica (which I knew since that's my background), and Serbia. Basically, everywhere except Western Europe and the US. Then I found the Biblical passage from Genesis about it. I have a feeling this is a tradition that goes pretty far back in our human history, before it was recorded in Genesis.

Thanks Vivi. Good info. I had heard about the Madonna-types wearing them because of Kabalah, but wasn't sure why Miriam would have put one on her baby (or maybe it's the baby's real mom who did for the reasons you gave). Anyway, it's good to know the kid is being watched over. I also noticed her earrings. My Mexican friends do their little girls' ears within a month after birth. Then the kids never have to beg their moms to get their ears pierced when they are teenagers (does this show how old I am, do kids ask permission for anything anymore?).—AgnesNJ

Have to run to an appt. and haven't finished the recap or the comments, but I have to stick my 2c in before tonight.

When Caridad said to go get some fresh air, she didn't mean go poking around inside MQ's other rooms. She got what she deserved. Well, not really, but every bit of information she gets now she should be feeding into her Daniel-Data-Base.

Poor Camila, she's being drawn into the same Lying-Because-We're-Protecting-You she was on the other end of at the beginning. It's obvio she doesn't like it. This time they can justify it that knowing the real situation might cause permanent damage.

I just hope Dan continues to convince her of his love and she doesn't go off to brood while he makes up his mind.

Interesting that Mariano's reasons for not getting back together with Teresa are the same ones Camila used on him. Isn't he listening to himself?

Aaron, Aaron, why or why didn't they give you a good story line for the last half. I really enjoyed you and your D'Aaron role-playing.

OK, gotta go.

I believe I've seen the red string on Daniel. I've seen it on Marcelo Cordoba, Julian Gil & a number of others that I can't remember.

Kat, so funny as usual--titanium-lined beanie lives to fight another day was so hilarious.

Augustonta is beyond redeemable territories--her disdain towards Amanda is vexing; can't wait to see her begging her for doubting.

As much I dislike Dio, I was cheering when he put Augustonta in her place for calling Nat "esa muchacha". So Dio intends to buy Nat's filial love ...

Mariano & Teresa --IRONY--Mariano should flashback to his conversation with Camila and compare points with Teresa's conversation with him; then buy a clue.

Miriam-what's more important to Dan than you and Agatha--you don't want to know or you'll risk permanent coma.

As much as we despise Yago, one thing about his character is he never pretended to be a gentleman; he had always made it clear to Nat that she was just a piece of ass. It was Nat who built this whole fairy tale romance and gave it up too quickly to a guy with a great smile while solid Rodo is right around the corner pining for her ...

Myo-

Ran across this article about novelas being made in Miami.

Gracias Variopinta for the link. This was the sentence that really got to me: "Actors often work 10-hour days and writers must churn out a 45-page script every day."—AgnesNJ

5ft Natalia should take your advice to use Dio's card to head to the Bahamas or further from him.

But, alas, her reaction seems to suggest that he has indeed come upon her at a very vulnerable moment.

She does know better: she was already on board with Dan's characterization of Dio, and may not have seen the passports, but heard a lot and saw the guns in the drawer.

But she obviously really wanted to fill a father-sized hole in her life, and Dio has always managed to keep the blood off his own hands so that there's room for her to believe that he's not THAT bad...

Getting back in the TN groove after being gone for a few days. HellaShelle and I spaced out our returns so no one would get suspicious and jealous of our jaunt to Aculco.

Thank you to all the recappers and commenters this exciting week! And thank you to whoever figured out about half a year ago how to fit so many recaps on one page so we don't have to use the sidebar (as some of us don't have access to that anymore).

I noticed Camila told Miriam her husband died in a crash along with her hermana gemela. Twin sister? We know that can't be? Did she get confused with CME?

I had to laugh at Gussie's face, eye roll and head shake when Dio told the sales clerk his daughter was guapa como usted.

And Gussie couldn't even spit out "su hija". She had to say "su Natalia".

Please let Vivi and Rafa adopt Roman! I wonder how old Vivi's baby would have been now? Close to Roman's age?

Anita - maybe Aaron can get together with NG? Or Teresa? There's still time. Or are we still thinking he could be asexual?

Of course she will eventually tell him what's up. He will eventually go after Iago.

If El Diablo ends up channeling Vito Corleone in that situation then Iago will become Carlo Ricci and we know how he ended up.

Nat deserves better than that.

Rosemary, I think Camila said "Ximena" but it was distorted because she's trying to avoid crying.

And I think Aaron is probably asexual. He'd make a good priest.

Welcome back RlaO! Hmmm...so you and HellaShelle took off to Aculco...to see all our cute AB men up close an personal.

I think Aaron puts his work above love life. Perhaps like Teresa did all those years ago. In any case, I don't think he's suffering because of it. He seems happier than ever with all his projects, including Leo.

Padre Anselmo = best padre ever

Is it wrong that I'm a little impresses with how quickly Hissadora has been able to manipulate Cayetonto into a big ring and new car? And that I'm wondering if there is anyone that dumb around here?

I was born in Spain and my mom told me that the baby girls get earrings almost as soon as they come out. Except for me. Lousy American parents.

Kelly

Kelly, my college buddy has two daughters and I wondered about the earring thing when the first one was born. He comes from an Irish Catholic family and neither of his sisters had pierced ears. One actually told him not to do it because "It looks so... foreign."

His ex took them for ear piercing at the age of 12, like it was a milestone event. She only allowed them to wear stud posts and no hoops until they were 18. I'm not sure she was able to enforce that.

At least Dionicia put Augustina in her place about calling his hija, esa muchacha, in her demeaning way.

Augustina needs to be put in her place about a lot of things:

a) Daniel is a part owner of LMQ, not her. She had no right to order Piedad & Gang to move his belongings or order him off LMQ or demand he go back to Mexico. Leave her daughter alone, maybe. Ordering him off the property, no.

b)Augustina would not like it if Dionisio were nasty to HER daughters, so she shouldn't be nasty to his. She really has no right to whine about Dionisio buying a gift for his child, no matter what his motives may be.

Miriam isn't stupid, she knows sth is up & I'm sure she's going to find out what.

IMO Miriam already knows something is up because she's been pawing and clinging all over Daniel ever since she stepped out of the cab. I don't remember her being that clingy before the shooting. She does have a right to be clingy b/c that's her husband of 3+ years that she is losing through no fault of her own. I do think she knows deep down Daniel is lost to her and that's why she wants to have sex so badly, to prove to herself that he is still hers.

I don't hear anyone being too concerned for Yucko's welfare. He hasn't been exactly endearing. Then, to end the episode frozen on his ugly face... (Note: I am not calling the actor who plays him unattractive, in fact he's kinda cute, but *Yago* is certainly ugly.)

Poor Miriam. It's hard to root against a beautiful woman as unassuming as her who wears those sensible heels. Would it be so bad if Camila encouraged Dan to give it a go with her and the baby? I find myself wanting that to play out.

THEN (before I get booed off this site), Miriam will find out about Dan's lies and fling herself into the arms of the handsome best friend from Chile -dang, freezing up on his name.

RlaO: Dante

Anon 207- you are SO right about how Gussie should treat Nat like she'd want Dio to treat her daughters. Okay, we acknowledge he is pervy around Camila, but remember when he gladly brought shopping bags of clothes back for Ximena from Vegas? Seems Gussie has forgotten that.

You are right, UA. Camila must have said mi hermana Ximena and not mi hermana gimela. Thanks.

Carolina - I love your little picture! Should I recognize it? So cute!

Yes, Dante! And I love that name. Turn 53, lose your memory. Thanks, Nanette.

RlaO: no prob. Glad you're back. I'm a few years older than you. It's just fatigue from your travels. :)

Kat: Thanks for the awesome recap. Lot's of great zingers.

I love the pacing of this TN. Can't believe we're closing in on Ultimas Semanas. This TN--for me, at least--has done an awesome job of balancing the good and bad and thrown in some awesome surprises for good measure. I've been spoiled--two good TNs in a row (CME and AB).

Will Iago's reaction to Nat's news finally convince her that he's a jerk (I'm actually thinking of far worse names I can't type on this board)?

I'm feeling sorry for Agustina. How is she going to react when she finds out her husband is a fraud and to top it off, just married her to get closer to her daughter? The deeper she digs her hole, the more frustrated I get with her. But also, the more I pity her for what's to come.

Nanette

RlaO- I don't think rooting for Camila and Dan to be together means rooting against Miriam. I'm rooting for all three. I'm rooting for Miriam to find happiness without Dan, and possibly love with someone who is madly in love with her. But I like your idea of Dan giving it a go with Miriam to see if the old feelings can be revived, since he seems so divided right now. That would be way unfair to Camila though to ask her to wait around and see, while he lives with, sleeps with, and makes love to Miriam to figure out how he feels. I sure as heck couldn't accept that.

Thank you, Kat. You always bring a smile to my face. Today i need it -- nieve en todas partes!

Anyway, I am rooting for Camila and Daniel big time, do find Miriam to be lovely. I, too, want her to find happiness! We have some good eligible men in the crew. Unfortunately, I fear that something more ominous awaits her. Not only do we have her fatigue and impending doctors' analyses, as UA points out, but the moment of her passing the baby to Camila and Camila getting rather comfortable with it if only for a moment, felt like some foreshadowing. I certainly hope I'm wrong in this regard.

Speaking of titanium-lined beanies, wouldn't you take a full set of doctor's evaluations from a smallish-town compared to what doctors in a big hospital in a large city like Santiago might say? One more case of NT medicine, though one often gets very good doctoring locally -- it was just the way that the doctor presented the range of services that made laugh.

So Dio loves Natalia, but boy does it complicate matters when it appears to him that love and commerce can go so nicely together if his daughter Natalia marries an heir to Buenaventura and carries his heir. One more division between our two very evil ones.

Stay safe fellow-east-coasters. Haven't we had enough crazy weather this year?

5ft: Thanks! Great recap. I didn't even notice the nails. I'll have to go back and check that out. Ana was cute though. Seeing her like a Minime of Cami made me laugh. And when she smiled, she actually reminded me of Mariano; I gotta say, they did a very good job with casting/direction for most of the paternal/maternal/child relationships.

RlaO: I agree, I wanted Cami to tell him to give it a chance with Miriam and then have her and Dan realize it just wasn't going to work again.

Poor Teresa. After last night's scene, I think she and Mariano will end up with Dante and Miriam rather than each other.

I hope we don't have to wait until Dio gets arrested for something to get his fingerprints. I hope Nat just says, if you're telling the truth, just give us your fingerprints. I wonder if someone will tell Yago that now that Nat's (dad's) rich, he should stay with her, since he, like his mom, have such a problem with the "altura."

Whoa! The Youtube advances are very different from the TV advances! (I won't reveal, so as not to inadvertantly give out a spoiler.

Nanette- Gussie will definitely have juevos on her face when all is revealed. Amanda didn't really seem mad about the outburst. She used her "Proceed, Governor" countenance and let Gussie ramble and just seemed to pity the fool.

Watch the avances where Dan climbs into bed with Cam be another dream. They ended this episode on Yucko's face when the next scene would have been Miriam's poking her head in the cabana. Hopefully tonight!

Thanks Kat for a super recap. My favorite line:
"Natalia, honey, emergency trip to the Bahamas…think about it".
I also jotted down "en el corazon no se manda"? ("You can't give your heart orders". That's really applicable to several of our characters.

Miriam is so in love and has my sympathy for what will undoubtedly be her fate (since we know Cami will end up with Dan). But I have to admit that it's a bit annoying to have her constantly mention her love for Dan and their future together in each and every sentence that comes out of her mouth and to each and every person she comes in contact with. She needs to come off of cloud 9 and pay attention to the atmosphere and especially Dan's non verbal behaviour.

I'll admit that I have a lot of nerve saying this because I was just as blind many years ago when I was in a long distance relationship. After a long time of ignoring signs that were right before my eyes, I realized that when a person's feelings change, they don't always spelled it out in black and white. Sometimes you have to read between the lines.

Traveling lady - your dog is cute! "They" (those of us who have owned them) say dogs with some poodle mix in them are the smartest. My late great cockapoo, Hobie Mozzarella, was a smartypants.

Cathyx said:
“If a girl you had sex with tells you I have news that will change both of our lives forever, why wouldn't the first thing you think of be a baby”?

That’s because a man (erroneously) thinks that it’s the woman’s job to protect herself from getting pregnant. Life changing surprises for a guy would be more like:
1. I’m in love with your best friend
2. I’m gay
3. I’ve decided to join the convent
4. I just discovered we’re related.
5. I’ve been accepted to a college in Tokyo.

Lurking Lula: You totally cracked me up, especially the "I've been accepted to a college in Tokyo."

Lurking Lula, I love your list. But none of them are nearly as likely to happen as getting pregnant.

Dion doesn't love Natalia. He's doing this to get back at Amanda. She left him and he couldn't find her. She pulled one over on him and he hates that. He's getting back at her by taking Natalia away from her.

Love that!

I'd love to see El Diablo and Cayetano argue about dowries and pre-nups. I wonder whether this could potentially mess up El Diablo and the Black Widow's plans. That would be amusing.

We know how Gussie will react; you could put money on that one. She is not only going to be outraged she will probably interfere.

As to whether El Diablo has any feelings for his daughter, I have a funny feeling that this pregnancy will be the event that discloses that truth. Will he blow up at her for being foolish or will he do something paternal?

As for the fingerprints, I'm wondering whether any of those leather items he gave Natalia would have fingerprints on them.

Nanette, is that Lady Jane Grey in your little picture? Or Ann Boleyn?
—AgnesNJ

Dio's fingerprints should be really easy to get from his glass of whiskey.... He seems to have one in his hand allll the time.

OT RdLO and Traveling Lady- RE: the pooch, I have had collies in the last years but recently we adopted a Yorkipoo. He is really cute and has a lot of personality. Yes, he is smart, but stubborn! Our collies are smart and compliant so you can really see the difference.

Mena - that's the Yorkie in him. They think they own the world, and actually they do own our hearts!

I wish we could see flashbacks of a younger Dio playing with a baby Natalia. Maybe he did love her, and maybe he has missed her. I hope. If she thinks it hurts having Yago turn on her, wait til it's her dad.

Rosemary, you would only recognize my photo if we had met, right? :)

It’s actually a photo that I took on a gorgeous old Mexican hacienda turned into a museum. I figured that made it appropriate to use here.

TL: I thought Dan’s questions about Miriam’s diagnosis had more to do with his distrust of Abe’s version of things than the doctors involved. Cute pup!

Foxy, I would like Miram so much more if she would climb down from cloud nine and just get a fricking clue. And what kind of house guest goes rambling around and barging into bedrooms univited? My momma didn’t raise me to do that. Miriam also could get a clue that she isn’t completely welcome in the home of a bunch of strangers as an uninvited guest.

I’m really hoping that Dan climbs into bed with the woman he has told he considers his wife. That would do the two of them a world of good. Camila is right that she is being a coward. (I didn’t catch exactly what she said in the chapel, but she used that word.) Only one of them is going to end up with Dan. She needs to decide if she would rather be nice to Miriam or spend her life with Dan. And she needs to fight for him if she wants to keep him.

Yes, I have visited a *gasp* tourist development on a hacienda. More than once! They can be very tasteful and classy, and, indeed, often are, IME.

OT: Mena and Rosemary, Our little malti-poo (we think -- could be multi-poo) is smart but also has a spunky style that comes out most in her need to protect us, the house, the car, etc. She wears herself out -- all 11 lbs of her -- watching the door to make sure that nothing escapes her. We had a mini-poodle before and she was smart and more intuitive about what was worth worrying about. We get a kick out of this little dog, but are also amazed how they differ by breed and personality. Hobie Mozarrella -- I love it?!

We need to see more of Maja!

TL and RdLO: LOL, that is exactly what our Yorkiepoo does .. when he is on patrol outside he tells us when any woodland creature crosses the fence in the backyard.

If there is going to be another pregnancy on this show, I'd like Maja to have puppies.

Carolina- Camila said she'd feel like a coward if she just gave up on Dan; but she would feel like the worst kind of human being if she got between him and his wife and child. Not really a great choice there.

Agnes: It's Lady Jane Grey. The painting is called The Execution of Lady Jane Grey by Paul Delaroche. the subject matter is bit gruesome, but I think the painting is beautiful. Anne Boleyn, by-the-way, is my favorite historical person.

RlaO: I also love the name Hobie Mozarrella.

UA - That would be the best! I hope that Maja isn't actually a male, though....

Thanks for the clarification, Vivi.

Camila needs to show a little spunk. Miriam has gotten between her and her husband and their plans for future children. She isn't responsible for this situation and Dan has made his preference clear. Now she needs to stand up for herself and stop worrying about Miriam.

A coward dies a thousand deaths and I am going to throw a thousand things at my tv set during the next few weeks if Camila goes that route.

I'm taking advantage of the inclement weather to catch up. I'm halfway through Wed's episode. I may not see the light of day until Sunday. Unless I have to move my car so that my neighbor can plow.

Just got an email from Boston.com saying that 5000 people have already lost power and that people along the shore may be asked to evacuate due to storm-driven tides.

I'm 90 miles inland from Boston but the Weather Channel said to expect blizzard conditions in my area tonight. :(

5ft - Thanks a bunch. My favorite line: "Yeah, when important news is supposed to be kept from someone, it helps if everyone ON THE PLANET gets that memo."

I hope Dante will have a lot more finesse with Miriam than Mariano and Teresa with their "if you can't be with the one you love, maybe you can learn to love me."

Lurking Lulu: I agree that Iago is the type of arrogant jerk that automatically assumes it's the woman's responsibility for birth control, which is why it never occured to him what was the "life changing news" that Natalia had to tell him. In fact, I would be really surprised if that wasn't one of the first things he says to her after accusing her of being with some other guy. "Why didn't you protect youself?"

I could swear I saw a red thread on Camilla's left wrist last night, because I wondered about the significance.

Also, thanks to all the recappers, I am in awe of your writing/translating abilities, and really look forward to the recaps and comments.

Otra Lurker

Great recap, Kat! Along with the titanium-lined beanie, I loved your reference to Dan giving it to Jesus, "Seriously, dude?" LOL

Urban A, I think Dio will do something paternal when he finds out Natalia is pregnant. That will be probably the one and only time I will be on his side, that is if he gives Yago hell for his dissing Natalia.

As for Agustina, I really can't stand her treatment of Amanda, although I did think she felt knocked down a peg by Amanda's words, which will undoubtedly be prophetic.

I think Padre Anselmo made perfect sense in that the lies to Miriam cannot continue. We all remember how impactada Camila was when she learned Dan's true identity. This whole protection conspiracy of Miriam is for me way too out of proportion. What makes anybody think that she will one day be able to handle it better? I say tell her the truth, and don't forget to add that it is Abe who is to blame for it all...even though he's now "seen the light." Too late, bro.

Yes, avances can be so misleading! They had us holding our breath when we were given the impression that Teresa poked her head into the cabana, but it was actually during her nosy trip through the house and into Luzma's room. Hope Daniel going into Camila's bed is the real thing.
Soyyo

Kat: Thanks for filling in what I missed while I was snoozing on the sofa.

Otra Lurker: I also noticed the string on Camila's wrist.

Kelly: Padre Anselmo may be the best padre ever, but he did give Teresa advice to go after Mariano, didn't he?

Aleta

Anselmo told her to seek Mariano out and see what happens, not to stalk him in spite of him telling her he feels nothing for her. In fact, he told her he even regrets advising her to do that, now that she's become so intense and obsessive and is trying to force Mariano to feel something he doesn't. I don't think his first advice was bad. Mariano might just have felt that old spark when he saw Tere again. Unfortunately for her, he didn't.

God Bless all that are in the storms....take real care and stay warm.....
BNinCA
I have not been commenting much on this Tela.....i have been reading all the recapps......and come to CARAY everyday.......Stay Warm.......

Kat: Another gem! "I'm pretty sure telling Miriam how Luzma got pregnant wouldn't be approved by her doctor." That one cracked me up! LOL!

Thanks!

My bro lives outside Boston a little bit inland. After a week in Florida visiting I know he's not looking forward to the freezer blast coming his way. All our Caray New Englanders take care and stay WARM!

Ugh–it's brutal out there and the worst is yet to come. Just moved my car.

It's coming down in NYC, but I'm holed up with plenty of food for the cats, lots of tea, chips, hummus, soup, and enough fresh fruit for a couple of days.

I'll be making a batch of stuffed vine leaves tomorrow for a Meetup on Sunday.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to tonight's episode.

Yes, coming down here in NYC. I'm downtown. Where are you, Urban A? Sounds like you're prepared. I pretty much am too...along with some wine for tonight's episode!

Thanks for this marvelous recap, Kat, as always you make this so much fun.

I'm with those who don't see a lot of difference in the behaviors of Teresa and Mariano, although it appears that Teresa actually may have had a real shot at Mariano once upon a time and blew it while Mariano never really had a chance with Camila in that way.

My heart really goes out to those of you facing this incredible weather. Stay safe and warm.

Carlos

It's coming down, but this is nothing like the Blizzard of '78...yet (gulp) All my New England family has checked in and they are hunkered down for a big blow, but all safe & sound. We're just across the river in Jersey City and so far so good. Just pray the power stays on 'til 11PM! —AgnesNJ

5Ft. Seriously. Solitary confinement! I agree. Gracias for the fun recap--where it could be.

Fingerprints. There has to be a chain of evidence so a sworn officer of the law or technician would have to collect the sample for testing. Otherwise, Dio's monotone lawyer will be objecting.

I didn't mean that Aaron had to be hooked up with anyone. I just liked his character when he was part of the action.

I think Dionisio *thinks* he loves Natalia as a daughter. He doesn't really know what it means to have one. He probably thinks she will be someone he can dominate and control. Someone who would look up to him without question. Little does he know that might not turn out the way he wants.

As little as I can stand Dio, I hope he hits Yago where it will really hurt. Naive Natti heard what everyone said about his reputation as a playboy, but she chose to believe in his smooth-talking lines as his "rehabilitation" through her love for him. I don't ever remember his telling her he was just using her for a roll in the hay. However, her not reading the red flag when he didn't want to acknowledge their relationship-even casual dating, was her vision through those rose colored glasses. Too bad she didn't stick to her guns when she gave him an ultimatum at Luzma's wedding. But then we saw him being extra nice to her and she caved.

Martha, I'm in Astoria. No problem so far; I'm close to a supermarket and every block has a convenience store.

Anita, you have called it: He has no idea what it is to be a father. He wasn't there for all the hard stuff; he has a finished product that was all due to Amanda's efforts.

I can't figure out if he has any real feelings for her at this point. However, when he finds out about Iago's using her I think he will go after him. There's no way he won't find out, either, and Iago's goose will be cooked.

Urban A - I'm in Manhattan, Little Italy/Chinatown area. There's convenience stores around too but a few blocks away.

You're making stuffed vine leaves tomorrow....yum. I'll be cooking tomorrow as well, eggplant parmigiana for a friend's birthday.

My stuffed vine leaves contain artichoke hearts.

BTW, on Sunday don't forget to tune in for the wedding show clipfest at 4PM EST. Two hours of great novela wedding footage. I don't think they've done one of those shows in two decades.

Oh, Urban A, I love artichokes! They must be amazing. Never had stuffed vine leaves with artichokes.

Thanks for the heads up on the wedding fest. Won't be home, but will DVR it.
