Por ella soy Eva #142 2/7/13: There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See.

Helena and Plutarco are fighting in his office.  She wants to know why she's been shut out of the Playa Majagua project, and he's demanding to know why she left without telling him.   And who was she with?  She tells him she was alone.

Fernando arranges for an accident for himself at work by climbing a big step ladder, pulling some heavy boxes off a top shelf, and falling.   He lies unconscious under a pile of boxes.

Mimi introduces our Eva to the real Eva.  Real Eva gives her the up-down and comments on how well fed she is-  like the cows in her pueblo.  They slap each other in disguised hostility.  The two of them refer to Mimi as Emeteria, while Mimi protests.  Our Eva has an offer.  She wants to buy the pension, but real Eva says no way, she'll have to find another pension to buy.  Mimi and our Eva stare in horror as a huge gold statue is carried in.  Mimi suggests Feng Shui to her cousin, but real Eva has her own ideas.  The two Evas sing while Mimi covers her ears.

On the phone Pluto demands to know where the hell Onesimo is.  Onesimo stalls.  Pluto demands, "Hablas espanol?" and Onesimo replies "Of course."  Onesimo has gotten very smart and fishes for information so he can tell Pluto what he wants to hear.  Helena was alone in Acapulco.

Eugenia and Chepina watch the film being made in the mansion, while Eugenia reminisces about her glory days.  Claudia is watching the filming with a rapt expression, and Eugenia notices.

At GI Santiago is dancing in the hallways because he has gotten a big bonus.  He tells Lucia he can pay off most of his debts now, and he invites her to dinner to celebrate.  She declines because she has a date with Sebastian.

Helena is in Adriano's office.  He is wondering why she came back so early from the trip in which he sent her in order to put some distance between her and the Putz.  She tells him about Pluto shutting her out of the Playa Majagua project.  "They say women can't separate their personal lives from their professional ones, but in this case it's Plutarco who can't do that."  He surprises her by taking Pluto's side.  He tells her to put herself in Pluto's shiny shoes.  He gives the same line that Pluto and Juan have said before: women like her and Eva don't know how much a man in love can suffer.  He tells her to accept Pluto's decisions.  She leaves his office disappointed and angry.

In the hospital, a doctor tells Marcela that Fernando's condition isn't serious.  He has some contusions to the head but he should be fine.  Was he ever really fine?  She walks into his room and looks at the sleeping Flaco with fondness.  He wakes up and tells her he can't see.  "No puedo ver."  No puede ser.  He begins to shout.

Our Eva, manufacturing an anvil from thin air,  tells Mimi that the world of tourism is far removed from life at the pension, and real Eva will never find out that she's been impersonating her.

Rebeca and Renato bring Adriano magazines reviewing the recent anniversary party in Acapulco.  He is moping by the window and can only comment on how beautiful Eva looks in the pictures.  They each express concern for him, and he dismisses each of them.  He looks at the picture of Eva and tells her she's the love of his life.

The doctor tells Marcela they've done studies and there's no explanation for Fernando's condition. (it's called jackassitis, and I'm afraid it's terminal)  He says it's a question of waiting a few days.  She cries while she reassures Fernando.  Viewerville wonders if he's faking.  He's never seemed smart enough to carry something like this off.  A lawyer shows up in the room, and Ferni tells Marcela he's suing work for millions of pesos.  The lawyer is handsome and maybe he's for the Flaca.  After all, Ferni can't see him... or can he?

Jennifer is telling the Daniel devil about how upsetting it is to watch her parents fight all the time.  He looks bored and you just want to slap him.  He tells her that she has to grow up, stop worrying about her family and be a woman.  She says, perhaps you're right.  He hugs her and gives that evil smile.

Helena is complaining about Pluto and Adri, and asks Lucia if she can believe it.  Lucia says well, yes, they're men.  She tells Helena Adri is upset because Eva has disappeared yet once again, and then complains about being Helena's second choice after Eva for confidences, missing the irony in the fact that she has not kept a single one of Helena's confidences to herself.  Lucia has actually propelled much of this story.

Our Eva is telling Mimi about putting distance between herself and Adriano, so he can be let down more easily.  Mimi feels bad for the big guy.  The two of them dance around imitating vultures, making fun of Pluto, while real Eva screams for Mimi from another room.  They walk into the lobby, now a garish mixture of red and gold, and look shocked.  Real Eva talks about remaking herself and the pension.

Pluto is in Adriano's office.  He tells Adri that all women are betrayers.  He tells him not to suffer like an adolescent.  Adri says he needs a few days away to rest, and Pluto advises him not to tell Eva so that she'll miss him.  Adri praises him, "You know much."  Adri wants Pluto to act as president of GI while he's away, and Pluto almost wets himself at having his years of  machinations, er, I mean hard work, finally pay off.

Eugenia finds Claudia in her room and tries to talk about Claudia's interest in acting.  Claudia dismisses her ideas, as usual, and Eugenia is disappointed.  She tells Claudia that tomorrow they are finding another school for her.

Real Eva is in a bar, telling someone about how our Eva is passing herself off as her and trying to take away her pension, in collusion with her cousin Mimi.  The camera pans and it's Dogbreath!  (you guys called this one)  He says, wait, there's more.  Fake Eva is also an owner in a very important tourism business.  Real Eva rants about how they don't know who they're messing with.

Sebastian and Lucia come home to her apartment and begin making out when Santi walks into the living room.  Sebastian is surprised by the roommate thing, and says he doesn't believe in friendship between a man and a woman (huh?).  He walks out.

OMG.  Fernando is at home on the couch, surrounded by his loving family, and he is wearing sunglasses too big for his little head.  It's his every dream as they dote on him hand and foot.

Pluto is at home in front of his safe, slobbering once again over that picture of Helena.  My precious.  What has it gots in its pocketses, we wonders?  Hey?  I thought Onesimo took the 3 million, but there it is.  He is telling himself that the money will serve him even more than he thought, and that it is part of what he has earned from tens years of putting up with Antonia.  He kisses her jar of ashes.  What a swell guy.

Bill: Fantastic Recap. Love the title.

This was some epi. I can't stand real Eva. I really hate the way she treats Mimi. Real Eva is a big bully. I really hope Mimi and JC come up with something to save the pension from her, especially since Real Eva is the pawn of Dogman. I just knew he was gonna tell Real Eva about those shares at G.I. What a mess.

Adri is back sliding big time. I hate the way he treated Helena when she came to tell him what happened at the Playa. Listen to Pluti!!!! Adri will sorely regret his trust in Pluti once he finds out what Pluti has done.

Pluti has gotten worse and worse. I too thought Onesimo took that money. It's too bad Onesimo didn't. Now Pluti has just what he has wanted all this time. Except Helena and I'm really worried about her now.

I too wonder if Fern is faking. He is loving being waited on hand and foot. He called that lawyer awful quick though, even Marcela was shocked. If he is faking I hope Marcela figures it out and gives him the boot where the sun don't shine.

I know Blue was wondering if Sebastian is still married. I too think he might be. He didn't like the fact that Lucia has a male roommate. And he thinks men and women can't live together and be just friends. I hope Sebas takes a hike. Lucia so doesn't need him.

Putzy Dan is leading Jennifer down a dangerous road. Maybe this "blindess" of Fern's will distract Jennifer away from Daniel. We can only hope.

Claudia was enthralled with the acting. Maybe there is hope for her yet. Maybe Eugenia will end up being her mentor in acting, who knows. As long as Claudia doesn't plan something else with putzy Dan.

Thanks, Ithabil! Loved the Pluti/Gollum thing. He is certainly obsessed.

I think Onesimo has taken most of the money. This happens in movies all the time. Perhaps just the bills on the top and bottom of the bundles are real, or maybe just the stacks in front are real. Everything else is scrap paper or something. Otherwise, why would he have toted the luggage to the safe?

Adri is going to find out about Eva/JC. He has not learned anything yet about women and men, so he will not get a pass. Another one of my opinions.

Last prediction: Fern will be caught doing something that requires sight. I wish that would be the end of him in Marcella's life but she always forgives him. Sigh.

Thanks again, recappers and commenters! I'm going to be away from my computer for about a month so I'm thanking you in advance in case I can't get to the internet in a timely fashion.

Many thanks to TJ and Bill for the last few recaps -- I'm way behind, but I hope to be able to catch up during the blizzard. If we don't lose power.

Is there a possibility that La Verdadera Eva could claim JC/Eva's share of the company? After all, I assume it was her name in the will...

Some interesting ironies in this one and great comments by Bill. Thanks so much Bill!!

Why didn't Helena just give Adri the facts about her discussions with the Fitsa guy and the director? Those facts should have caught Adri's attention....."what you can't be hands on because Pluti and Mendoza are doing what? I do a lot of project management and that would raise a red flag with anyone. Instead she tries to interpret what is going on as a personal thing (which it is)...but that is an immediate turnoff to Adri. I hated that whole conversation. If Helena doesn't play smarter she is going to lose her job or worse. If Adri doesn't wake up, he is going to lose this company. At least Helena sees so much more than she did before this visit to the beach. Gertie

Blue: Real Eva thinks those shares from G.I. are hers, but Antonia, Pluti's Dead Wife, left those to JC/Eva, not the Real Eva. She really thought that JC/Eva was Really Eva. I know this is confusing, but Antonia actually left them to JC/Eva. She thought this was really JC/Eva's name and that is who she left the shares to, not the Real Eva. She never met the Real Eva. Does that make sense? But DoggieMan thought that Antonia left the shares to the Real Eva, and according to the avances the Real Eva goes to claim those shares.

Thanks, Ithabill, for the great recap and appropriate title.

I, also, think that Fernando is just fine. If he is not blind and Marcela does not divorce him then she gets what she deserves. No apology/explanation would ever be enough to compensate for the pain he has caused.

I do admit to laughing when the "real Eva" called "our Eva" "well fed". It was also funny when the two Evas were cackling like two old crows teasing Mimi about her real name Emetria.

Blue Lass, I was wondering about the same thing with the "real Eva" considering that our Eva is committing fraud by assuming Mimi's cousin's identity. This could be a legal mess.
Anyway, many of the commenters brought up yesterday the idea that maybe the "real Eva" is a fraud in herself. That is a real possibility since now we know that Dogbreath is involved. I just hope that Mimi is not displaced or hurt too much through the "real Eva's" involvement.

I, too, am wondering about the "money" in the safe. When Onésimo was dragging the suitcase into Pluterco's house to collect the money, it seemed strange to me that he was not carrying an empty suitcase. The suitcase seemed to be really heavy when it was in my mind supposed to be empty. Could the suitcase been loaded with fake money? The real money replaced with fake money somehow that Pluterco hasn't looked at closely enough yet? It would be so much fun to see Onésimo do the old double cross on Pluterco. I know I sound like I have watched one two many mysteries in my life. It runs in the family. :)

Another thing that I like about Onésimo is that he is always drinking or eating whenever he is talking to Pluterco. Lately it seems to be massive quantities of food.

Bad bad decision to leave Pluterco in charge at Grupo Imperio but it will make for good drama.

Jarifa

Great recap Bill. Fer is a big faker. He's living his dream right now- Marci will make him her number one priority, the whole family will dote on him hand and foot, and he has a pile of money coming that he doesn't have to work for. If he were really blind we would never hear the end of his whining and crying.

ITA about that conversation between Helena and Adri. She approached it wrong, and he was just plain wrong.

Good call on the fake money, Jarifa. If that is indeed what Onésimo did, then Pluti will not be able to figure out *when* it happened -- so he won't know whom to blame. Couldn't happen to a nice guy.

It seems to me that if La Verdadera Eva is really verdadera, she could go and claim those shares any time she wanted just by producing appropriate ID. JC is hardly in a position to fight back by saying, "I'm the real fake that Antonia left them to"! Ai ai ai. Curves ahead.

Jarifa, I also noticed that Onessimo brought a FULL suitcase to the big house. When I saw that, I thought someone in the props dept made a mistake. But O. carried it as if it were heavy; he's too good of an actor to make that mistake. So when Pluto opened the safe and we saw the stacks of money, it all made sense. O. brought in either counterfeits or blank paper. Probably blank paper, so we can see his agony when he tries to roll around in what turns out to be green toilet paper.

It seems like right now, all the anvils are falling on the wrong people: Marcela, Mimi, Adriano, Jennifer, Helena. But from a certain perspective, that's a good thing.

A. It's heaping up more and more guilt on the villians, and more and more traps that will explode and destroy the villian instead of the intended victim.

B. They have waited until these final weeks for the really ugly stuff, so we only endure it for a short time. In many TNs the bad guys do the horrible stuff from the very beginning, and we have to endure it for a long time. In PESE, by pushing the worst to the final weeks, the show stayed relatively light through most of the run.

I will have to catch up on Weds and Thursday episodes/recaps before I have anything to say (or do tonight's recap), but I am motivated to get it all done tonight because this snowicane just might cause me some grief tomorrow. Just glancing at these last couple of recaps, I can tell it's likely to be an eventful night!

HEADS UP!

Jaime Camil is doing a Chat, Monday, 5 PM DF time (same as US Central timezone). See details on his Twitter page, https://twitter.com/jaimecamil (you don't need a twitter acct to see it). Sometimes he puts out a call for questions a day or two in advance; that would be on his Twitter. Or there's a good chance he'd answer your question, English or Spanish, on the chat, even if he doesn't ask for them. Send to his fan e-mail address, fans@jaimecamil.com

Then he will post on Twitter the address of the chat room a minute or two before the chat begins.

He hasn't done a chat in a LONG time - maybe a year (except one Televisa hosted, only viewable in Mexico).

For those of you who've become Camil fans thanks to PESE, this is a rare treat. You see a different side of him than when he goes on the morning shows for a publicity blitz (he'd never do a booger-check on a morning show!).

Great recap as always, Ithabill. Real Eva is a piece of work isn't she? I agree that if she goes in & presents her ID she would have every right to the shares in GI. Antonia didn't intend them for her but the will simply leaves them to the person by that name.

I too am glad that they left most of the nasty anvils for the ultimas semanas. This show has been charming and light until now and I have loved it. But we'd better hold onto our hats because these last weeks are going to be a roller coaster.

Fernando is an ass but I still find him an adorable ass -- like an incorrigible child. I am sure that he will be a wonderful fellow once he gets whatever shock is awaiting him to make him reassess what it is to be a man. I'm sure that the writers have something powerful in store for him. And then he will bake us all a cake and we will love it -- and him.

Well, Bill, you've done it again. You are hilarious. Ever thought of writing for television?

My two cents (not worth 3 millions!): Marcela is the one who is blind. Fer is definitely faking it. How quickly he stood up from his seat at home... a sure indication that it is part of his plan. Marceluca may have forgiven him in the past, but that would be a pretty big pill for her to swallow... and it would indicate that his dishonesty is more than transient. She needs to kick him to the curb, white cane and all.

Real Eva is a screamer, in more than one ways. My opinion is not completely made but I'm not a fan. She reminds me of my evil twin! ha! ha!

Golum? Ha! Ha! Too funny!

Yeah Bill...you could definitely do some script writing for sure.

I'm betting a latte on Paula H's theory B. that they've been able to keep PESE fairly light and comedic throughout....but we are being set up for a flurry of really bad things to happen to the good guys until the good guys turn the tables and the bad guys go down REAL hard and stay down for good. Then the last 20 minutes of the final episode is good guys living happily ever after. I think it is one of those telenovela algorithms. Gertie

On my spanish station in LA...Marianne Soenne (spelling) ...Rebecca...is performing the Malquerida on Gordo y Flacca. It's a great song and she is dancing great. Im fairly certain that this outdoor set requires lip-synching. Very sexy and saucy! It is the Mexico City set the PESE cast was on the day before yesterday. Gertie

Woohoo! The wind is howling outside, but I'm still online. Saw the whole episode. Working on the recap...

Bill, great recap and title. Agreed that Fernando's condition is jackassitis, not blindness.
