Amores Verdaderos #62 Tue 2/5/13 Tears, Lies, and Roman Emperors

Amores Verdaderos Cap 62—2/5/13—Tears, Lies, and Roman Emperors

Lo siento, it's been one of those days. I'm going to do a brief overview and try to flesh it out later.

Here are some screencap highlights:

Salsa Dude isn't buying what Kendra-Ho is selling.

Vicki seeks comfort from Big Angel after having a big fight with Nikki.

Big Angel: Artist model extraordinaire

BRIEF OVERVIEW! EVENTS NOT LISTED IN ORDER! EVENTS MAY NOT BE COMPLETELY ACCURATE!

Refried: A drunk Nikki getting washed off in the shower with her Little Gorilla. They lock lips for a while. She makes an awkward scene with him, reminding him that she's rich and he's poor, but he loves her, yadda yadda.

Salsa-Dude, with appealing puppydog eyes, tries to ask Bea if he has a chance with her once her marriage is dissolved. She never has a chance to answer since Kendra-Ho calls him and interrupts. Bea tells him that he's got unfinished business, just like she has (with her husband).

The New: Salsa Dude visits Kendra-Ho, who pretty much blackmailed him into visiting. She has this brilliant idea to get pregnant and claim it's Nelson's, and she wants Salsa Dude to be the sperm donor. Let's get busy, it's a fertile day for me! Salsa-Dude lays it on the line for the Ho. 1) He's not having his kid raised by someone else, 2) Nelson will have a DNA test anyway, so it won't work 3) Salsa-Dude is a one-woman man, and Kendra-Ho ain't that woman, Salsa-Dude is in love with someone else! 4) If Kendra-Ho wants a baby with Nelson, she's going to have to get Nelson to do the deed. Salsa-Dude leaves in a huff, leaving Kendra-ho high and dry in her tramp-wear.

Adriana appears at Paula's doorstep. Wants to know if Paula knows anything about her dead/missing baby. Adriana gives Paula some attitude about being a home-wrecker. Paula tells Adriana that she never was told much about the family. All she knows is that Anibal said that Adriana had a baby that died. Adriana is astonished that this is all the info that Paula can offer her.

Later on, Bea is telling Paula about her issues with Salsa-Dude and Leo the Low. Paula is of the mind that if she likes Salsa-Dude, to go for it! Bea explains that she won't risk custody of her kid by getting involved with a new guy too soon (thus giving Leo ammunition against her) and that her KID is top priority. Paula repeats but if you care about Salsa-Dude ... Bea has a moment of clarity, and says that unlike her (Paula) Bea cannot dump her kids for a new main squeeze! Por favor!  We see a contrast of priorities: Bea's selfless, good mother values, and Paula's selfish, self-absorbed values.

Vicki and Big Angel have spent the whole night together, illicitly . . . painting. Yep, they pulled an all-nighter. Big Angel is dressed as a Roman Emperor in bright silk toga and holding a candlestick (which stands in for a sword). He's almost ready to tip over with exhaustion, but Miss Vicki entreats him to hold out a little longer. Finally she's done! The painting actually doesn't look too bad this time. An example of alla prima (all in one sitting) painting! It looks like acrylic painting to me (but I could be wrong). Thomasina comes in then, and Vicki shows her the painting and an exhausted Big Angel hurries away to maybe get some Zzzzzs.

Nelson self-righteously tells Vicki that her daughter got all drunk and it's Vicki's fault! Blah blah. Vicki confronts Nikki. Asks her about the drinking. Then they have a knock-down, drag-out fight. Vicki wonders when Nikki is going to do something with her life other than be a spoiled bruja (only she says it nicer than that). Nikki accuses Vicki of thinking that she (Nikki) is a failure and a loser. Then Nikki tells Vicki that her life is a joke and that her marriage sucks and she's a horrible wife and mother (or something like that). Vicki slaps Nikki across the face. More drama, blah blah the accusations fly. Finally Vicki leaves as she's had enough recriminations and blame from her daughter.

There's a funny scene in the bodyguard salon where all the guys have something to hide. It's morning and Big Angel hasn't slept in his bed, something that Salsa-Dude notices. Big Angel covers by saying he went out for an early morning walk. Guzmancito then drills Salsa-Dude about what did he do with Bea the night before. Salsa Dude says no big deal, they just talked and then he got her home early. Salsa-Dude left then, because he had some business to attend to. Guzmancito implies that Salsa-Dude was out prowling for chicks. Some conflict there as Salsa-Dude accuses Guzmancito of playing the jealous brother—but hey, how about what went on in the bathroom? It smells like alcohol. Guzmancito tries to explain that Nikki was drunk and . . . Finally Salsa-Dude says they've all got stuff that morning that they don't want to talk about!

Later, Vicki cries about what Nikki told her, and believes she's the "Worst Mother in the World." She tells Big Angel that he can have the day off, just go do something for himself, she won't be going into work that day. She's crying and crying and poor Big Angel is worried and tries to comfort her. Later Big Angel does go home, ready with a rose for his wife. But no one is there. He discovers a note that Christina left for Lily, saying that she's going to look for a job that day, because she's getting stir crazy being stuck at home. No word for Big Angel. Awwww...

Early in the episode, Nikki and Guzmancito fluctuate between being drawn to each other and arguing. Nikki tries to "tempt" Guzmancito by taking off her top and embracing him, encouraging him to go for the gusto. Guzman is tempted but quickly knows it's a bad idea, so he tries to cover her up with a towel and hustle her back to her own room and to safety. But she won't let go. She tempts him with a kiss, and he's on the verge of it, as Polita walks in and catches them. She gets the picture, even though Guzmancito tries to deny it. Nikki laughs at Polita's hurt and shock and says didn't she know that Guzmancito was a player who was intent on conquering all the women out there?

Later Polita dries her disappointed and heartbroken tears and decides to leave the hacienda. She can't stand seeing Guzmancito get his heart stomped on by the "Evil" Nikki. She's ready to leave (suitcase in hand) when Jean Marie and Thomasina talk her out of it by saying when Guzmancito is kicked to the curb by this Evil Woman (Polita never gives her name) then Polita should be there with open arms to console him! At this thought Polita decides to stay after all.

Guzmancito has a conversation with Polita and says she's got to stop with the innuendo and flirting with him. All they can have is a nice friendship. She says she's got the picture, no worries, she'll keep her feelings to herself.  Guzmancito is gracious to her and says that she's a lovely girl, and if a guy could decide who he'd fall for . . . Polita's got the idea.

Adriana has a lovely chat with her Godfather, and wants to know more about his relationship with her mother. Sounds like Godfather was in love with the mom and Adriana figures that everyone would have been better off if the mom had married Godfather instead.

We end with Guzmancito coming to Nikki's door. They've got to get her to a therapy session for people with eating disorders. Nikki tries to blow him off; she doesn't want to go, she looks horrible, hangover, blah blah blah. Guzmancito reminds her that they had a deal; if she doesn't seek professional help he'll rat her out to her parents. She says okay okay, she made an appointment with another specialist that her nutritionist recommended. The appointment is later in the day. She'll go but she doesn't want Guzmancito hovering around! He'll have to keep his distance as she goes to the appointment. (I sense that she's going to pull the wool over his eyes, but so far I don't think Guzmancito suspects anything.)

Vicki and Adriana are chatting about things and Adriana mentions to Vicki that she visited Anibal's amante. Vicki is all like "Que?" and that's where we end the episode.

(I guess I went on longer than I'd thought I would!)

AVANCES: It looks like Salsa-Dude applies some forceful violence on Leo! Awesome! MUST SEE TV!!

Elvira; Wonderful recap. You never fail to disappoint. Such a great recap with just enough detail. I wish I could do one of these, jus sayin' : ).

So Furry Fornicatior's plan worked. Blame it all on Vikki, where is that cast iron skillet. I can't stand this guy. He's horrible. I felt really bad for Vikki, she so did not deserve what Nikki dished out to her. It's funny that Vikki spends the most time with Nikki and Furry Fornicator avoids Nikki as much as possible. Nikki should have taken it out on Furry Fornicator and not her Mama Vikki.

Now the Angel and Vikki were a hoot. I agree Elvira, I think the paint was acrylic too. I wish she had done it in water colors with lots of fading. I don't know I love water colors. Especially Matisse. These two are such a hoot. I am glad they are friends. I lol'd when I saw the Angel with the toga on, too funny.

I laughed too when Kendho just about demanded that Dances get her pregnant. That slut wear was something I have to say. Loved what Dances said to her and then took off. I hope he gets redeemed.I like he said he is a one woman man. Good for him.

I am glad that Polita got the message, but she will still hope. Probecita. I hope she meets someone new.

Guzmi was really fighting his feelings for Nikki but glad he didn't give in. Good for him, but I really wish he would be honest and upfront about this marriage of his, and will we ever see this "wife" he has. I don't like the fact that Guzmi is forever telling Betty who she can date. It's none of his bidness. I think she is handling herself quite nicely and being concerned with her child, not like her mother. I really like Betty and hope she ends up with Dances.

I'm with Adri. I wish that Antonio had gotten Pilar, but then we wouldn't have this TN would we? Antonio would have been a great Papa as he is to Adri now. I still think Pauwhiner knows more than she is saying.

Anita: Loved your list of items for sale at Meta Mart including all the defunct Tal Mart merchandise. What happened to the shirt that says El Cheque is Mio!!!! Did we sell all of those out already???? lol.

Also on your chuck wagon, is Jean Marie going to cater? If he is I want some of what he made, jus' sayin'. Had to laugh at your idea for greasing up Kendho. She must go thru the detox chamber first. Heaven knows what she has been doing ; )

Apologies, Elvira...I was so distracted by the Emperor in his red drapery I stopped right there and didn't see the recap was already up. Am reading it now--my bedtime story.

Elvira: Riveting screen shots - while I did fawn a bit over the Angel's handsome pic (is there any color he can't wear? :)), I loved the image of Salsero. It is as though his expression captured the myriad of emotions and changes he is feeling and experiencing. Well done!

Fantastic recap as always. "High and dry in her tramp wear" and "selfless good mother values" were my favorites of many fun and memorable lines.

Vicky and Adriana's feelings about Paula have been well documented. But, did Adriana never hear the expression of catching more flies with honey than vinegar? I thought she might try some pleasant conversation, yes, even a smile to try and wheedle information from Paula. Yet, she marches in still brandishing her home wrecker sword. I'm not convinced that Paula does know anything - did Anibal really confide family business with her?

Another Nikki tantrum. Really? So unexpected (eye roll). Madelaine you said it perfectly: "Nikki should have taken it out on Furry Fornicator and not her Mama Vikki". Amen...

I also am happy to see Vicky and Angel having fun - Vicky needed it after Nikki's hurtful tirade. At least for the moment, they are submerging their true feelings and trying to continue to play the "friends" card.

Love how Salsero dissed and dismissed Kendho. That rejection certainly did not sit well though, did it?

Anita, loved your META*MART offerings. I will take an I heart Laz shirt and "The Poetry Corner, featuring the slender volume of the complete poesías muy sensibles by our highly creative, sentimenal fool, Valvanera Bickie". Very clever!

Anon, on yesterday's recap you posted: "Vicki trying to teach JA to "smize!" (that's 'smile with your eyes' - per Tyra Banks)". I never heard that - great line. I also laughed at "Another Cris-ification" being due. Yes - we haven't seen her the past few episodes and she is sure to come storming in soon!

Diana

Thank you Elvira-as always: highly entertaining. An excellent accompaniment to my breakfast and coffee.

I cannot wait for tonight's Salsero/Leo face off. Wheee!

Thanks, Elvira. I haven't been able to watch this show lately, but I occasionally surf in and try to read the recaps when I can. What is up with Salsa's bangs? New look, new you, perhaps???? He's trying to give himself a makeover now that he's in love with a good woman ???? Eduardo is a sport to put on that red toga...very secure in his manhood, verdad ?

Susanlynn: Always so good to see your posts! Yes, Salsero's "do" has been a main topic of discussion here.

Sara, how could I forget to mention the preview of the "beat down". Wow! Looks like Salsero's brain is winning over Leo's brawn but we will have to see.

Diana

What a marvelously funny recap, Elvira! Thanks so much!

So very many punchy lines but if I had to choose a fav, well, this is the one that really cracked me up --

"Vicki and Big Angel have spent the whole night together, illicitly . . . painting."

I have a theory, okaaaay? (Helloooo. My theories are almost always wrong.) But what if ...

Padrino Antonio is Adriana's real father? Think about it:

It explains the whole Antonio character (what else is this guy doing in the novela?)

It would knock the late Mrs. Aníbal off her pedestal. (So Vikki's mother wasn't a saint after all.)

It would explain Aníbal's lack of warmth -- downright cruelty -- towards Adriana.

It would explain why no weird blood vibes happened when Aníbal and Liliana first crossed paths. (Compare the vibes between Cris and Aníbal, how cozy they were together.)

P.S. Anita:
Meta*Mart is off to a fabulous start. Perhaps the Puchis Boutique could add a line of home ADN test kits. They'd sell like fresh tortillas in the Who's Your Daddy? aisle.

I love this site, however, I don't comment so I must be a lurker! I just wish Miss Vicky had kicked the FF off the grounds when she found him in his office with Kendra. All he is good for is to throw in her face the fact that Nikki has problems and it is all her (Vicky's) fault! Can't stand his eyes.....

Miss Lurker

Elvira - Thank you for the great recap.

Anita - MetaMart is going to be a huge success. May I order one of each message/style tee-shirt?
Also... maybe you can include our telenovela beanie hats in your inventory???

NM - I like your theory about Antonio/Mrs. Anibal/Adriana. It makes a lot of sense. Fingers crossed!

Elvira – Great title and recap. Love the pics, especially the man in the red toga. My favorite line: “Salsa-Dude lays it on the line for the Ho.”

Angel as an emperor – what a cutie and what a hoot. Maybe Vickie will do a whole series of historic characters. So funny when an exhausted Angel pointed out she wouldn’t let him break pose to quench his thirst while she herself had taken several drinks (presumably non-alcoholic) while painting.

Anita – “Valvanera Bickie (pseudonym of famous Mexican socialite, who is going through some difficult domestic trials and tribulations)” – too funny.

Madelaine – “Nikki should have taken it out on Furry Fornicator and not her Mama Vikki.” I’m sad to say that in real life I’ve witnessed the kids (especially the daughter) blaming the mother for the breakup even when they know dad’s cheating. And the aftermath was the same: the mother is all upset and the daughter just rolls on like nothing happened.

Diana – ITA “did Adriana never hear the expression of catching more flies with honey than vinegar?” After Adriana admitted to Antonio that she shouldn’t have lost it with Anibal in front of the family, I thought she would be more composed with Paula. I can’t see where it would’ve served Anibal to confide in Paula about the baby switch, so I’m thinking Paula truly doesn’t know.

Strange that Angel felt left out of Cris’ note since she wasn’t expecting him to drop by. Cris has pretty much become a bodyguard widow.

Yay, at last Polita gives up on Guzmancito. Love Polita, but had enough of her barging in his room and jumping him. So sweet of her to keep her guerito’s secret in order to protect him from getting fired.

NovelaMaven: I snorted my herbal tea when I read your line of the ADN tests at the Puchi's Boutique at Meta Mart in the "Whose Your Daddy" Aisle. lol.

Miss Lurker, Welcome to Caray Caray and this TN. We are having a blast with this one. Please come back again and comment often.

Anita: I loved the psuedymn for Ms Vikki, Valvanera Bickie, too funny. I also like Adri's retro clothes, could we possibly get a Adri's Corner, where they sell scarves and skirts and those retro blouses?

Neice: That is really sad about the girls blaming the Mothers instead of the Fathers. She has been trying so desperately to get the Furry Fornicator's attention. I will never forget when she asked him if he could just spare some time for her, as Guzmi was the one that spent the most time with her, and he never answered her, just gave her a look. For that alone he should get that cast iron skillet. I hope the SUPERSIZED PIE CART hits him in the blue balls, jus's sayin'.

Anita---Recap is great, no need to add more.
Loved--Salsa-Dude leaves in a huff,
leaving Kendra-Ho high and dry in her tramp wear.
Great contrast in values between Bea and Paula.

Anita---Are you going to be selling any Salsa-Dude sunglasses?
I want a pair.
If you can find any "El Cheque Is Mio" t-shirts, I'll take one of those too.
A lot of money will flow in at the "Grease up Kend-Ho arena.
It's no doubt that the Meta*Mart will be a huge success.
Can you add NovelaMaven's "Who's Your Daddy Isle. I think that there will be a lot of interest over there also.
the gringo

I was surprised when Polita barged into Guzman's room. Doesn't anybody knock on doors in that house?

NovelaMaven: Eureka, I think you may have found something. Your deduction is solid and reasonable. Therefore it cannot possibly be right! (I laugh as I comment).

Seriously, it makes perfect sense and would be a great twist. Your argument that it would explain Anibal's cruelty sold me.

Niecie: "Bodyguard widow" - good one!

I'm with Gringo - Anita, "salsa dude" sunglasses for me too!

Diana

Oh God, oh God, oh God, the recap and the comments are killing me, I'm rolling on the floor laughing like crazy. :DDD

Thank you for the fantastic recap, Elvira!

And Anita, your META*MART post was pure gold. :) Valvanera Bickie, ha!

I have a T-Shirt for AV:
"Gaius Julius Caesar is rolling in his grave now"

Niecie: LOL @ bodyguard widow :)

GREAT recap. So funny.

I liked Salsero very much in this episode. I really hope he redeems himself. How he kept from laughing hysterically at Kendho's harebrained "plan" is beyond me. She's tangling with Nelson anyway, yet to get knocked up and pin the kid on Nelson she needs some Salsa in the mix? Why?

I'll take a ¡¿Qué qué qué?! t-shirt. It's so multipurpose and suitable for all occasions. Besides, my "Talismaniacs Raisin Hell" shirt is wearing out.

Carlos wrote yesterday:

"Is there anyone out there still clinging to the idea that the relationship between José Ángel and Vikki is an innocent friendship where neither is truly aware of his/her true feelings? ("Maybe I should take my shirt off." Really?)"

Here's the deal: in my opinion V&JA (oh no, that sounds like vagina) truly believe that there's nothing really inappropraite between them. They sense the attraction but they repress it and they are like "Me? Interested in Arriaga/la senora? Oh plu-hhheeease, that's ridiculous. I respect him/her as a friend. No, don't keep saying that, I don't love him/her! Lalalalalalala, I can't hear you, lalalalalalala!"

The Angel has already realized that he has these strange, strong feelings towards Vicky, but it seems he managed to convince himself that they could have an innocent, socially acceptable friendship. (Really dumbass, yep, and it also seems that the writers already forgot that Cristina existed.) And Vicky? Come on, when it comes to her private life, that woman is blinder than Stevie Wonder! :) That's why I don't agree when she is labelled a homewrecker, a predator, or even worse.

When I was watching the painting scenes, for me it was obvious that although she liked the view, she was much more interested in the painting than the guy who was standing in front of her. I'm pretty sure that if she was offered that a) she would be given a miraculous inspiration enough for three more "masterpieces" or b) have crazy, hot sex with the barenaked Arriaga on the floor and nobody would ever find out what happened that night... She would choose the paintings. She's an ahhhhhhtist, she lives in another dimension. Like those clichéd university professor characters from movies.

Naturally, in real life their behaviour would be much more suspicious, and nobody would believe that they don't know perfectly what's going on... But realism has never been a strong point of telenovelas.

Aribeth: I completely agree with what you said, ya know they both are so clueless and I loved the way you said, lalalala, I can't hear you, lol. Fits them both to a T so much. Whereas Furry Fornicator is actually boinking Kendho, and Nabila at one point, Ms Vikki hasn't ever been untrue. I agree she would rather paint than have hot monkey sex on the floor of that studio. And these TN's do not follow real life at all. That's why they are so fun to mock : )

Just home from work. Great comments. The ''hot monkey sex'' especially got my attention and perked me up. Miss Vikki and the Big Guy are both lusting in their hearts but denying the reality and their true feelings. I think that happens to people in real life. ''We're just friends...really. We have a lot in common...okay ? We're on the same wave length, that's all. I like and respect him/her.'' I guess a lot of affairs started with the dangerous dance that Miss Vikki and Big Angel are doing. Just saying...

First, to gringo--thank you but the recap belongs entirely to Elvira. She has a way with words that delights the palate.

Salsero-Dude glasses will be in the first shipment.

RE: telenovela beanies. We've had some exotic ones in the past. Please give a description for style, size, material, etc.

This novela has been so much fun to watch but the recaps and comments have made it even better. Did the writers really know they were writing comedy?

So far for me, KenHo has been the only over-the top (not the actress, but the character) character in this novela. Everyone else is within the range of believability with some juicy excesses.

Adriana, for me, is the only Debbie Downer in the lot. Everyone else has his or her lighter moments. Have we ever seen her smile? Poor thing, no wonder there is a Table by the Limpid Pool for her. Probably won't have much company, either.

P.S. The Mart reminded me of the Crap from Afar shop that the sisters opened in FELS [Fuego en la Sangre]. I would like to order one of Kendrho's foxy ho outfits...for a friend. okay ? Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

It was a sad/funny moment when JA arrived at his empty apartment and read the note for Lili "nothing for me?" then, while holding the single rose he brought for Cris, he had some funny 'practice' attempts at composing poetry to present the flower to her.

Feel bad for Polita, but nothing short of witnessing what she did was going to do it for her. Now, hopefully she will turn her attention to Zambrano and remain a good and loyal friend to Guzman. It will take her a little time, but she can get there.

Exceptional, Elvira!

You got it all. Each recapper brings her own style to the job; it is fun to read and savor a variety of styles. Thanks, Amiga.

Love the Screen Caps especially the one of my "In My Dreams" dancing partner, Santino Salsero. It was good to see how he forcefully stated his objections to KH and left no room for doubt. However, we can assume that KH will attempt to exact some form of revenge.

Anita - you outdid yourself with the organization of MetaMart & its subsidiaries. Buena Suerte with this lucrative enterprise.
I'd like to see you make a big profit. I'm sure you will put it to good use for the benefit of all.

I added the Amores tag! Sorry I forgot that earlier!

Regarding Vicki being an "ahhhrtist." I agree, that she really loves to paint and painting someone you *like* (either attracted to or just "like") is even nicer. I do think that she wants to paint. She has something to say with her painting. Working with an appealing and friendly model that she feels a personal connection for is a huge plus factor.

Also, she'd be horrified at the thought of hot monkey sex with the Big Ange right now (for appropriate reasons)l. But even if she could succumb to hot monkey sex, painting is good, very good. Even when you have the option of either hot monkey sex or painting, sometimes painting is what wins! :)

Looking forward to tonight's episode! Thank you for all the comments everyone, and thank you Anita for your hilarious post about the META*MART! LOL

Wonderful recap Elvira! And Anita, I am impressed by your abilities to quickly get MetaMart up and open for biz.

Truly funny comments today. I have nothing to add.

Great recap, Elvira, and the photos are perfect. Thanks, sorry to be so late checking in today.

I think that Polita will do about as well suppressing her feelings for Frankie as Vikki and JA have done.

Anita, you've given me a lot to look forward to and brought back some pleasant memories as well. Maybe if you have any Matilde headbands left over, Polita could try that look...it worked for Matilde.

Carlos

Great recap, Anita! i needed it since my DVDR has been acting up lately.
As far as Meta-Mart, LOVE the items brought back from ElTal store...
i would add a Neta-Language department where we have Nikki's slashing of two languages and our best guess translation, like...
presiona el boton y hazte 'delete'.
or ''ahorrate' tus consejos en la alcancia'
