Amores Verdaderos #61 Mon 2/4/13 Singin’ in the Rain of Champagne
* Lo refrito: Adriana asks her godfather where Aníbal’s ex-mujer lives because she wants to find her. She must know something about her daughter!
* The aforementioned woman is having dinner with Hilda/Gilda/Whatever and they are talking about a certain doctor (Dr. Montaño) whom Aníbal is looking for. He probably knows something about Candelaria. Anyway, Paula whines a bit about Cristina who found her at the Balvaneras: she feels like a traitor because she can’t tell Chris that Darth Vader, I mean Aníbal is her father. H/G/W advises her not to accept that risky job but Paula desperately wants to be close to her son.
* At the Balvaneras Vicky and Tomasina are talking about the commercial shoot. Tomasina, la Arriaga fangirl is very enthusiastic about it and she can hardly wait to see the commercial with the big guy. Vic says Arriaga saved the day and she keeps calling him her guardian angel.
* Nelson, who’s really mad at Vic for choosing Arriaga for the ad, spends the evening with his living sex doll. Kendra masterfully-slyly drops a few hints about Nikki and Guzmán… because she’s sooo concerned about the little girl who unfortunately became too attached to her bodyguard. Daddy is horrified at the thought, and he swears that if he ever finds out that there’s something going on between them, he’ll fire Frankie.
* At the karaoke bar Nikki’s having a quite horrible and undignified night: when Frankie tries to send the already drunk girl home, our completamente insecure lil’ brat says that he isn’t her babysitter, and then she starts spewing poisonous words about Guzmán’s date, aka Polita, who’s about to sing on the stage. However, when it turns out (again) that Polita is a really good singer, and people (especially Francisco!) love her performance, her face turns sour. Her facial expression are too hilarious to bear.
* While Vicky is preparing to paint a new masterpiece (hmm…) in her not-so-secret hideout, she and Tomasina are talking about the Furry Fornicator. No, she’ll never forgive him. If he’d just told her that he wasn’t interested in her anymore and he needed some time to think about their marriage, she wouldn’t have been that hurt. But no, instead he cheated on her. But now she has to move on. The Angel, who’s just got rid of the 10 lbs. of makeup that was applied on his face at Meta Imagen, comes into the workshop and asks her if he needs something. Actually, now that he’s asking… she needs a good idea for painting. Jesus Christ, she’s asking just the right person, Arriaga has as much artistic sense as a doorknob. He offers to bring her some fruits. Will that do it? Now, that isn’t a good idea because she usually paints about feelings. Feelings? Our Neanderthal Angel looks puzzled: you mean you’re drawing hearts? Like children at school? *Viewerville: LOL* She says there are feelings that can’t be painted, like the gratitude she feels towards him for saving her ass so many times. And here comes the wonderful idea from the depths of Arriaga’s brain: try it! If she wants to paint something so much, then try to draw him! Vicky is surprised at the idea and she’s deeply moved by his offer… and she’s glad that they are on good terms again. Oh, and she never had a live model before. (Fortunately this model knows how to strike a pose.)
* Beatriz arrives at the bar: she came to see Francisco and she’s pleasantly surprised to find her Spock sin Sunglasses sitting at the counter. Guzmán definitely doesn’t approve of their relationship, but Bea assures him that they are just friends. However, Bea and Salsero share too many tender gazes, so they can’t fool Viewerville. Nikki, who’s drunk like a sailor, decides that a maid like Polita can’t steal her limelight, so she climbs on the stage and she starts to sing a song… And yep, she has a lovely voice, too. Guzmáncito and Bea are encantados, and Salsero says that although he’s never tried singing karaoke before, but he’d do it for Beatriz. *Viewerville: hey, Romeo, first look for a new hairstyle, thankyouverymuch* After Nikki finished the song, she falls off the stage, right into the ever vigilant Guzmán’s arms.
* In the meantime Arriaga tries to sing Ahora tú and he proves to Viewerville that although he has many talents, singing isn’t among them. Vicky gives him some instructions: how to stand, how to look, smile from the inside, yaddayaddayadda. Arriaga doesn’t get this artistic mumbojumbo and he can’t stop giggling. Oh, it looks like Nikki and José Ángel started a competition called “who had the most hilarious facial expressions tonight”.
* Frankie managed to bring Nikki’s drunk butt home, and now he's babysitting the crazy girl in her room. And naturalmente Daddy Nelson enters the room right at the moment when Guzmán is struggling to put his little girl in bed. Uhh-ohh. Nelson demands an explanation and threatens the bodyguard, Frankie tries to explain the situation, and Nikki… well, she’s already in another dimension, so she gets on both men’s nerves with her laughing and drunken babbling.
* In the meantime Polita tells about Nikki’s antics to Jean Marie. (I love his sleeping cap!) She realized that the brat wants to be with Guzmán.
* Nelson tries to visit Vicky in her workshop but he’s not allowed to enter. Vic tells Arriaga that she isn’t interested in his explanations, and tonight she only wants to paint, because that is her passion.
* Felipe show up at Paula’s doorsteps with a bouquet of roses, and he tells her that he kept his words, he hasn’t been gambling. *Viewerville: you’re cute* Oh, and he asked Francisco to forgive her, and he thinks it’d be easier for him if his parents were together again *wink, wink*. Paula doesn’t seem to hate the idea completely, but when she finds out that Bea’s working at Meta Imagen, and Felipe’s already met Aníbal Balvanera, she gets a small heart attack and kicks ex-hubby out of the apartment.
* At the bar Salsero’s trying to court Beatriz when his phone starts to ring: it’s Guzmán who’s looking for Bea. Oh God, now he pulls the “strict older brother” act and wants to know if she needs his help. Is Salsero harassing her? Betty politely sends him off. And as if his night wasn’t bad enough, he hears the unmistakable sniveling voice from behind: Frankieeeee! Surpriseeeeee! Yep, it’s Nikki with a huge glass of champagne. She starts jumping on the poor guy’s bed, and tells him to stop acting that serious. He tries to take the bottle away from her, but she manages to open it… so now Frankie, Nikki and the room are all soaking wet with champagne. Great.
* The other two ingenuous kids in the workshop are reaching new heights of inappropriateness (and new depths of artistic abyss – brace yourselves, because if I remember correctly, you’re going to see the painting tonight): Vicky combs Angel’s hair with her fingers (“don’t take me wrong, don’t take me wrong, just let me do it, I want you to look more natural”), but something’s still wrong… She asks him to get rid of his tie to look more relaxed. Whoa, Madam, you know much about art, says the impressed Angel, so he takes off his tie… and then unbuttons one… two… three buttons… all right, now he decides to get rid of his shirt for the sake of art. At first Vicky seems embarrassed at his enthusiasm, but she definitely doesn’t mind the view. Now let’s get back to painting.
* Salsero takes Bea home, and they have a very beautiful yet heartbreaking scene in front of her door: she tells Dances with Sunglasses that she doesn’t want date anyone until she get a divorce from Leo the Low. She can’t risk lil’ brat’s, I mean, Guillo’s custody. Salsero understands that, but he wants to know if he has a chance. Does she like him? Bea smiles and she’s about to answer when Dances gets a phonecall from Kendho… and he immediately admits that yes, it’s a woman. But their relationship ended long time ago. Bea says sadly that she can’t ask anything from him, and she can’t offer him anything either, and then she goes into the flat. (Side note: the Barbie doll wants to meet Dances at her apartment ASAP.)
* At the Balvaneras Frankie pulls Nikki into his bathroom – maybe some cold water could help her. She keeps saying that Guzmán is in love with her, and he’s pretty sure she’ll regret this scene next day. However, as usual, he can’t resist the girl and they end up eating each other’s faces again.

Can't wait to see what you have to say.
If anyone could break hearts in this, it might have to be Bea. She is so sweet, real, vulnerable yet strong. I've always been a huge Susana Gonzales fan, never more so than here. I'm surprised how much I am rooting for Salsero and her as a couple. I don't want Bea to get hurt (which she surely will) and his past cannot escape or excuse him. Yet, I'm sitting quietly in their corner, urging them on.
My absolute favorite scene was the Angel posing for Vicky. He is downright adorable - from facial expressinos to the strange hand contortions. And correct me if I'm wrong, but did Vicky actually lick her lips when he removed his shirt? :) I know I did!!!
Diana
Diana- I thought Eiza did a great job last night, too. Ditto your thoughts on the Bea/Salsero pairing. They are very sweet together.
Now, for the adults who continue to make poor choices... Did Vicky and JA really think it was a good idea to lock themselves up in her studio, all alone, late at night, and for him to take his shirt off?! Did Guzman really think it was a good idea to take a drunk and clingy Nicky to the shower in his bathroom late at night, instead of just calling Tomasina and having her deal with Nicky?
If only Nelson knew what his wife and daughter were up to right under his nose!
Great Start with pictures. ..will be reading recap much later in day.
Vivi, I agree completely with all that you said. I was disgusted with the two main couples last night, but I was absolutely riveted to the exchanges between Bea and Salsero
and replayed them several times.
Not only do they have great chemistry and Susana's acting is superb, but there is a complicated, intriguing story on both sides, and last night much PATHOS as evidenced in the last scene. In my opinion, she is taking a small role and turning it into the main event.
Diana - liked your expression -
"a little bit of hell (with a dash of heaven)"
While I think FG is extremely handsome, in this role he is a little SEEDY looking compared to his role as the distinguished teacher in Mi Pecado.
I give Nikki a break on her foolishness cause she so young and she's drunk. But not Vickie and JA.
Diana---Loved your line---"Nikki is
certainly making Francisco's life a
little bit of hell [with a dash of heaven] right now.
I knew that as soon as that painting started, the shirt would come off. Now will the FF come in?

"Now, for the adults who continue to make poor choices..."
Because they are children! Their higher brain functions haven't developed yet. :) That's how my AEC-addict friends call them: kids from the kindergarten.
All actors did a great job in this episode. Well, in 90% of the episode all Sebastián had to do was to look miserable, but he had enough time in Pasión and Teresa to practice that look. :) Erika and Eduardo were having a great time oviously, and Eiza also seemed to enjoy the crazy drunk scenes.
You know, there was a time when Susana was considered an insignificant and boring actress. I loved her in Entre el amor y el odio, but maybe she was born to play these strong and interesting side roles instead of heroines.
Francisco is hot, hot, hot, and a very good actor as well. It's time for me to rewatch Canaveral de pasiones and Laberintos de pasión.

I just found this lovely behind the scenes video: Eiza, Michelle (Polita) and other crew members dancing Gangnam Style. :)
It was recorded by Erika: "@eizamusica @AmoresVerdadTv divertidos bailando amo a eiza. Y que tal polita @ojos_nena".Esta muy divertido! ;3"
The first time I saw Susana (and Colunga) was in Pasion. I liked her immensely and was confused by the negative/luke warm at best comments posted about her acting.
ITA that her recent supporting roles (La que no podia amar and Mujeres Asesinas where she was magnificient), have really allowed her to shine. There is something honest and appealing in her work. Her acting seems effortless and when I watch her, I am totally immersed to the point she seems totally believable and real.
Loved the video - thanks Aribeth!

I so completely agree! I could not believe JA took that shirt off. Idiot.
Nikki brought back memories of freshman and sophomore girls during college dorm life. Yeeesh .....
And seriously, Frankie should have called Tomasina to take care of Nikki ... but that would have been too intelligent (back to Vivi's comment!)
Cute 'Gangnam style' video, Aribeth. Polita was having fun, too. We saw that outfit on Nikki when ... just last week?
I think Susana's acting in Pasión was overshadowed by two things: by that time she was pretty much despised for being a homewrecker (the affair with Eduardo Santamarina) and while Pasión was a high quality novela, the script was faaar from perfect. I wasn't impressed with the way her character was written.
Since then she established a new, stronger, more rewarding career. I'm proud of our girl. :)
"Fortunately this model knows how to strike a pose.)", "H/G/W", "la Arriaga fangirl" were all great but "new depths of artistic abyss" was my hands down favorite.
Another night of inappropriate (not all intentional) behavior for many (Nikki/Vicky/JA) while a night of regret and yearning for others (Bea amd Salsero). I agree with everyone who commented that Salsero did the right thing by mentioning he does not come without baggage (or in Kendho's instance, garbage) of his own.
The Angel and Francisco are extremely protective of their daughter and sister. I do think though that it's apparant Bea can take care of herself - at least with everyone other than the hateful Leo...
This was marvelous Aribeth.
Thank you!
Diana
The shots of his facial expressions had me chortling and of course I just swooned over Jean Marie and his nightcap.
The bit with Arriaga posing was adorable. I think EY and EB are both very charming in these roles. I'm surprised by how much I like them instead of dreading their behaviours all the time.
About Susana González, I've liked her since Preciosa and I remember thinking Fernando Carrillo's first wife in María Isabel was lovely. I think her getting the blame for Pasión's failure was unfair. The media was brutal to her (I can't think of many instances where they have been so nasty) and people responded to that in the same manner. I think she is past that finally, it looks like everybody has let go of the past but I think laying low and staying in these type of characters has been her choice too, she doesn't seem to want that spotlight again.

Absolutely fabulous recap and hysterically funny. Your slang is terrific; you'd never know you are writing from 1/2 way around the world. Loved, "Hey, Romeo,"
and totally agree with you there.
Also loved "new heights of inappropriateness."
DORIS - Your description of Bea's before and after hair sounds like how mine has been behaving of late.
ALL - I think it is important to note that Salsero told Bea that his relationship with the woman
caller ended with the day he met Beatrice.
Re - Felipe's apartment - what a step down if Paula decides to go back with him (If only he could have just one more big score to set her up right!) I noticed the grillwork or bars on his apartment door whereas the luxury pad of Paula et al has a doorman with security and no bars on doors. Does anyone know if Felipe's apt. is typical of a low rent district?
Enjoying all comments as usual.
Thanks; I just saw your post.
You may know the answer about
bars on apartment doors.
It's wonderful to hear from you again. I was thinking about you as I wrote about Felipe's apartment. You have all the inside knowledge.
I wasn't sure if you are following this novela.
now Frankie, Nikki and the room are all soaking wet with champagne. Great.
* The other two ingenuous kids in the workshop are reaching new heights of inappropriateness
Diana, LOVED LOVED your line
Nikki is
certainly making Francisco's life a
little bit of hell [with a dash of heaven] right now.
Also agree on the 'two immature acting couples' but the acting being great...
In the 'strike a pose' scene with Vikki and Arriaga, I could not help but think of Maddonna's 'Vogue' song and how she used the theme on the video.
About Susana Gonzalez. LOVED her small roles in Amor Gitano and Preciosa...
LOVED her role in Entre el amor y el odio, even though i agree that she seems better fit for smaller roles where she can 'steal the spotlight with a great performance'
did not care so much for her in Velo de Novia or Pasion... but she is certainly stealing the show in La que no podia amar and here... so good for her! and yes, she went through a hellish season during pasion and right after it... i agree that the script and storyline did not help her there.
Our girl Nikki does screwball comedy pretty well, neta?
Nikki was such fun last night even though she had way too much to drink...unfortunately, for her anything at all to drink might be too much.
Is there anyone out there still clinging to the idea that the relationship between José Ángel and Vikki is an innocent friendship where neither is truly aware of his/her true feelings? ("Maybe I should take my shirt off." Really?)
Carlos
If you look for "Protecciones para puertas y ventanas" in google images, you will find many differnt types that people can choose from. They can be part of the house decor if done well.

Paula is delusional if she thinks working at the Balvaneras' would bring her close to her son. Guzman would HATE for her to be their, especially since HE has to be with Nikki all the time. He has gone to great lengths in his previous jobs to separate business from family, so Paula's intrusion (which is how he will see it) will only drive a deeper wedge between them.
I was a little afraid that Lowlife Leo would be staking out Felipe's apartment and catch Bea with Salsero. Not afraid for the moment, because coward that Leo is, I don't believe he would confront Bea with Salsero right there, but to aggravate and threaten her later.
Nikki and Guzman ... really? He just had an unpleasant confrontation with Nelson and he caves just like that? They weren't being very quiet, either. Nelson should've walked in on them, just to wake Guzman up. He doesn't seem as strong a character as he did in the beginning - he's always wimping out in dealing with Nikki and Polita. I'm surprised he's keeping to his guns with Paula.
Wimpy indeed. If Guzman had really wanted to, he could have taken that bottle of champagne away from her, but then we wouldn't have had the shower scene.
The first time I saw SG in anything was in PVAA in a small but impactful role. Then I saw her in a totally different role in LQNPA and my respect for her grew. This role is only adding to that admiration.
She's special.
Carlos

Nikki is playing her role as she should be and is keeping my attention right along with Guzmancito.
I have yet to grow tired of their confrontations and passionate moments.
Team Nikki&Guzmancito all the way!
Great Recap!
Doris---Good call on Bea's hair, I missed it.
To all of the tn experts. I have only seen Susanna Gonzalez in La Que No Podia Amor. I thought that she should have gotten an Oscar for her performance in that one but she wasn't even nominated in the Mexican equivalent.

Ditto with all of you about Salsero and Betty. I soo want them to be together, but Salsero needs to be redeemed before that can happen. They are so adult in their relationship and I really love that. No games with them at all. The only thing I don't like is Guzmi butting his nose in. He really shouldn't be telling her who she can or can't see. Look at him for goodness sake, jus' sayin'.Loved your name for Salsero too, Spock, too funny.
Also liked your name for Anyballs, Darth Vader, he is alot like him isn't he, lol.
Pauwhiner is on my last nerve. I can hardly wait for her to accept that job as Nikki's piano teacher. Let's see how long that lasts. I have respect for Felipe. He is turning into a nice guy.
The best part of the epi were Vikki and the Angel. Truly funny. I know he shouldn't have taken his shirt off and been posing, but they are doing it in fun, not with alterior motives. They are just two funny people right now. I am glad they are back to being friends.
