Amor Bravío #137 (Uni 132) Fri 3/1/13 More Curation Frenzy and Frustration As Dio The Bull Butcherer’s Bombast Bungles The Play

capítulo 137

There has been nothing quite as horrendous or as devastating for Camila and Crew (let alone Viewerville) as the sight of motionless mounds of beautiful black bull beasties’ bodies scattered throughout the pastures of La Malquerida, dead as Dionisio’s coffin door nails, except for Daniel’s incapacitated and unconscious body now lying in Cam’s bed in the cabana.

Lo Del Pasado:
Cam puts in a last-minute request to Ma as a backstop request to Dios and La Virgencita (depending who’s shift it is) to save Dan’s life for the good of his other wife and child.  Miriam learns from Rafael and his brother, Aaron, that her hubby’s down for the count back at La Malquerida due to a contagious virus he’s contracted, and that they’re there to take her and baby Agata to the hospital to get tested to see if they’ve possibly caught it from Dan.

Lo Del Nuevo:
Camila is doing what she can to keep Daniel’s fever down while she begs him to beat this and get better.  Daniel, proving the old adage that a drunk and a delirious man always speak the truth, talks in his sleep and tells Miriam in his feverish jabber that the one he truly loves is Camila.  (Well, that’s a relief!)  If Cam ever doubted it, she has no reason to now. She is even more resolved to save his life if she can.

So, though, is Wife Numero Uno, aka, Miriam.  She’s now on the phone with Abe’s second in command, Gaston, trying to get in touch with that smug schmo of a Big Bro of hers, Abraham, so that he can get hold of the necessary vaccine somewhere, somehow, in Chile.  No, she and the baby aren’t infected, she explains, but Daniel is.  Gaston tells her Abe’s incognito again, so she says she’ll have the information they’ll need e-mailed to him by a friend of Dan’s, and hopefully Abe’s buddy, who coincidentally is also the Minister of Health, can pull the necessary strings to save her hubby’s life.  (So, Mir and Abe are connected!  Who’d o’ thunk it? Way to make the play, Miriam! )

Back in the bungalow, Agustina returns with a bit of breakfast for Cam.  The good news is that nobody else is infected with the virus; the bad news is that more than likely Dan as well as all the rest of the stock will die before any vaccine can be located; and advises Gussie, Cami might as well get used to the idea.  Only a miracle will save them all now.  Then, if that weren’t enough of a downer, in comes Rodolfo with the news that the death count for her bulls is up to sixty.  Anything else he can do for her like taking more samples or something?  Nope.  Don’t be a dope!  “—No reason to since we know what sort of virus they have.  Er…sorry for jumping down your throat, though, Rodolfo.” Right.  Rod scurries out the door as Mariano walks in with his ever-present, pained lad of 40-something lovelorn look. They all exchange pleasantries.  Mama is all smiles to see it’s Mariano, her obvious first choice for SIL honors. “—Maybe you can get her to freshen up and to eat something; maybe you’ll succeed where I couldn’t.”

Mir gets hold of Rafa who’s still wearing that hot-lookin’ brown bomber jacket which matches those baby browns of his so perfectly.  She asks him to e-mail the information regarding the vaccine to Abe’s assistant who has contacts with the Public Health Officer in Chile.  He, she mentions, besides being a good buddy is also the Minister of Health there, and is someone who just might be able to get hold of that vaccine for Daniel.  Rafa tells her to try to take it easy and, he promises, he’ll do it the moment he hangs up there.

Meanwhile, Cam asks after Rocio and learns The Old Gal (in deference to 5ft’s change of heart where Rocio’s concerned) has been released from the hospital and is now over at Pablo and Luzma’s place.  Mariano then relays the news that he’s been in touch with one of his foreign distributors for vaccines in Argentina who thinks he can get hold of [conseguir= obtain, get] the meds they need since they had a similar outbreak just five years ago.  He can get it to them in two to three days’ time.  Mar adds he can speed up the paperwork necessary by doing it ahead of time and travelling personally with the proper permits to pick it up himself.  Cam is incredibly thankful, kissing Mar’s hands while inexcusably down on her knees, telling him that Dan is doing so badly right now he could die. (Yeah, Cam, we understand things are dire, but do you really have to kiss his hands and grovel at his feet to make the point?)  Mar stares at her, apparently as uncomfortable with this kind of response from his heart throb as we are, and asks her not to be this way.

In town, Rafa tells Viv and Aaron what Miriam called him about.  Vivi lets out a sigh.  “—One less worry.”  If Dan dies….--Aaron tells Viv not to give up hope.  Rafa poo-poo’s “hope” and says more likely action is what’s needed.  He races over to his laptop to e-mail the information to Gaston.

At the cabana, Cam tells Mar that she can’t eat and has him call the kitchen extension for some ice to help bring down Dan’s fever.

Dionisio is in his office on the phone meanwhile, with Isadora, bragging to her that everything there is going like clockwork with the virus.  “—Even that imbecile, Daniel, caught the virus and without the vaccine, in a week or less he’ll be heaven-bound [pasar a la mejor vida= lit. crossing over to the best life/fig. dead].”  “—Wow!  That means that you’re literally going to kill two birds with one stone.”  “--Yep, and Camila without her bulls and without Daniel will have no other choice but to sell the ranch to me and forgetting that La Malquerida ever existed!”  Dio suddenly turns around.  His braggadocios and otherwise muy mirth filled smile does a quick 180 when he sees Piedad standing there in front of his door “--I have to hang up.  I’ll call you later.” Pie is totally saucer-eyed-and-frozen-in-place impactada.  He walks menacingly around his desk towards her.  Standing within a hair’s breadth of Piedad, Gussie’s lobocito threatens her with a feral snarl.  “—If you know what’s good for you and your little girl, you won’t breathe a word of whatever you heard.  Because otherwise, in no time flat you’ll be minus your little Luzmita!  Got it??”  Pie stammers out that she didn’t hear a thing.”  “—I s-s-s-swear!  I didn’t hear a word of it!!”  “—I hope so!!”

Dante arrives at Daniel’s house to speak with Mir, but finds out she’s gone out.

Across the yard in the cabana, Mariano watches a desperate Cami through the open bedroom door trying to will Daniel out of danger.  “—Daniel please!  You have to get better!  You can’t desert me this way! Please!”  Just then Mir rushes inside.  (Knocking first?  Ringing the doorbell?  Who wastes their time doing that?   Telenovela rules specify that in times of trouble, anguished parties may barge inside anywhere they please and at any time.)  Mir suffers another QTH??? moment and turns to Mariano for a much needed explanation.  “--Why is Camila saying these sorts of things to my husband???”  Ruh-roh….

~~End Parte 1~~

[What an emotional roller coaster the past two or three episodios have been!!  Whoopee!! ]

~~ Parte 2 ~~

Mariano tries diverting Mir by telling her to calm herself before she gives herself a stroke or some such.  Yeah, says Mir with a don’t bullsh!t me buster frown, but she was frantic!   “—Just like I suppose you were.”  Yes, she agrees, but I’m married to him!  She tries racing inside the bedroom to get to him but Mar stops her and reminds her that she could get infected herself.  He suggests going outside to chat a bit and once Cam can put some ice on Dan’s body and has a moment, she will have a chance to chat with her.  Mir holds off then and mentions that he probably knows the truth anyway.  He wonders what “truth” she is talking about.  “—How Daniel got here to this place; because today I learned [saber= know, realize, find out, learn] that Daniel, my brother and my friend have all been lying to me!”  Cara de raised-eyebrows-filled-with-interest de Mariano.

In Chile, Viewerville has a QTF moment as we go behind bars and learn that it’s Abe who’s a jailbird now!!  (We note Abe doesn’t look any the worse for wear since he’s got plenty of protection pesos to pass out while he’s doin’ time.)  Gaston tells Abe he already told Mir what Abe wanted him to and Abe’s grateful because her learning that he’s in prison would be another risk to her health.  Gaston says what’s really important now is keeping Dan alive.  BuT, he has to ask why Abe came back to Chile if he knew they could arrest [detener/apprehend] him.   Abe explains that he promised his sister and Daniel that he would come back to clear Dan’s name.  “—Look, I abused my power and my arrogance blinded me.  I owe it to them.  I hurt him unreasonably.” Sooner or later there’s a price to pay for injustice, they agree. Abe is resolute. “—This is mine.”

The one thing that gives Abe some peace of mind, he says, is that Gaston is in charge of the case against Dionisio Ferrer and getting to the bottom of his attempted murder of Daniel and the near-murder of his sister.  Gaston says it’s the least he can do for him now that he’s got Abe’s job.  Abe tells him he deserved it and now wants to know what the deal with needing a vaccine for Dan is all about.  Gaston hands him over the email from Rafa and explains that Mir thought his buddy, Alberto Duran, who is Minister of Health could shortcut the red tape and find the vaccine they need to save Dan’s life.  Sure, says Abe, but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee that his friend can find what they want or that it even is there in Chile to be found. (Dun-dun-duhnnnn!)

Leoncio finally has learned enough to read or recognize Issa's name when he sees it and to point out the letters "m, a, t, and o" to Aaron.  With a bit of charades action he manages to make Aaron understand that Isadora was the one who offed Padre Baldomero.

Mariano manages to get Mir out of the cabana.  Once outside, Mar tries to fudge.  “—I don’t know how much I could tell you.”   Mir begins to relate what she already knows about Dan’s true situation.  “—Whatever you might know because I know that Daniel believed I was dead, even [incluso=besides, even, including] that he was in prison because they accused him of wanting to kill me.”  Yes, agrees Mar, that’s what happened.  “—He arrived in Mexico as a fugitive from the law, entered pretending to be [hacerse pasar por] Andres Duarte, rather than Daniel Diaz Acosta.”  Mir can’t understand why Dan wouldn’t tell them all the truth.  Because, explains Mar, he wanted to find the people who were trying to kill him, they’d wounded you.  Mir thought it was just a regular old run of the mill armed robbery [asalto].  Nope.  “—It was so he wouldn’t be able to collect his inheritance.”  Mir asks if he knows now who it was that wanted to kill Dan.  Mar hesitates, saying that she’s better off finding out from Dan or Camila since he’s not sure how much he can tell her before what she learns puts her in danger.  “—Do you mean that there’s still a danger for him or for me?”  (That’s exactly what he means, sister!)

Miriam is pissed.  All the more reason we should have left when I asked him, she yells in frustration, and gone right back to Chile!!  But noooooo!  He didn’t want to! All for this ranch that’s got him fighting for his life!!  Mar asks her to calm down.  (Good luck with that!)  Ok, ok, agrees Mir, maybe you can’t give me anymore of the details about Dan’s situation, but tell me what’s up with Camila?  It’s her attitude towards Daniel.  “--She feels something special for him, right?  It’s something that goes beyond just friendship!”  (Gotcha!)

Mariano, looking for all he’s worth—and that, we know, ain’t no paltry passel o’ pesos--like a long-tailed cat in the middle of a room full of rocking chairs, tries telling her that Cam is so distraught because she feels a great deal of affection for him; she’s so beholden to Daniel for having saved her life once when he found her immediately after being gored by a bull.  “--For that …er… and for other reasons, she feels she has to save his life.” “-- It’s like a sort of debt between them?“  Something like that, he agrees.  Suddenly Piedad is there with the bag of ice.  She’s jittery and apologizes for nearly dropping it.  No harm done.  He and Mir walk towards the cabana to deliver the ice to Cami.  (Damn!  Could you two walk any slower?  The guy needs that ice like 5 minutes ago!)  Piedad says to herself she doesn’t know what to do cuz if she lets them know Sr. Dio’s to blame for Don Daniel being like this then she cannot imagine what might happen!  (We do!  Viewerville starts praying for a Holy Intervention from the telenovela gods.)

At the same time in town at Amanda’s B&B, Teresa receives an arrangement of red roses from Mar with an apology from him and in Ana’s name.  Nat asks if his little girl was rude to her.  Not like Ana to do such a thing.  Let’s just say, says Tere tactfully, that she made it clear as a bell that she didn’t want her having anything to do with Daddy.  Padre A thinks that could prove to be a real problem, but Tere says she’s got the patience of a saint and will do whatever it takes till she’s gained Ana’s acceptance.  Besides, she excitedly adds, the flowers Mariano sent has shown that what happens to her really does matter to him.  Natalia asks if she’s in love with Mariano.  Teresa admits that she has been all her life.

Across the way at Luzma’s, Ana and her new auntie are discussing said Dr. Phil fodder.  Luz convinces her to listen to what Tere has to say and to apologize like her daddy says.

Yago now shows up at Amanda’s and plays the loving fiancé.  Yago, Nat, and Anselmo head over to the church to begin their prenuptial consults.  Tere notes Amanda’s large sigh and distracted look.  She tells Tere that she’s still worried about Yago’s true intentions.  Not to worry, assures Tere, cuz Big Bro Anselmo is a whiz at ferreting out true intentions and/or scraping the scum from the bucket…er..separating the wheat from the proverbial chaff.

Back at the cabana, Cam is still chatting to the unconscious Dan about fighting for his life. Mar knocks on the door.  Cam opens it and he hands her the ice bag.  "--How’s he doing?"  Bad.  There’s no way she can get the fever down.   He mentions that Miriam’s there.  Oh!  Just a minute.  Cam comes out and greets her rival.  Mir says she’s upset because of Daniel’s illness.  “—Is it true that he can die in a few days?”   Yes, well it all depends on the vaccine.  How many days do they have yet, asks Mir.  Two, maybe three at most, answers Cam.  Mir decides she’s just got to see her husband!  Mariano tries to dissuade her but Cami understands the need.  She   gives her a paper gown and mask and allows her a minute inside the room.  (I’d think she’d need booties too, but qth…)

Mir enters the room and tells Daniel he’s got to make the valiant fight to live to stick around for her and their little girl.  She made it out of her coma and he can survive also.  Our love is worth the effort, it must be the reason for fighting to survive this.  He’s come too far, and despite all sorts of adversity, just to throw it all away now, she says—or pretty much says—then turns around and goes out to tell Cami she has no words to express how grateful she is to her for trying to save her husband’s life.  “—I know he saved your life and that you’re grateful to him and that you care a great deal for him.  Take care of him!”  Cam says dutifully that she’ll do all in her power to save him.   Mir adds that if it weren’t for the baby she wouldn’t stir from his bedside for an instant. Cara de no-duh-and-me-neither de Cami.  Mariano and Cam look at her politely; the irony of the situation isn’t lost on them (or Viewerville) as they watch Miriam nearly breaking down in tears out of worry. “—He’s my one true love!  [hombre de mi vida]  Cara de juslemeoudahere! de Mariano.  (This poor dude has got to be wondering by now just what does that Dan guy have that I don’t to have both of these women so passionately in love with him when he’s got what??  Attorney Teresa with the ho-hum face-huh???)  Cam, always the medical professional, assures her they’ll do what they can, but it will have to depend on their getting the vaccine.  Of course, says Mir, and—she nearly faints.  Mar catches her.  He offers to take her home and she has to accept.

Once they’re gone, Cam leans against the wall obviously exhausted and in real need of a pedi-mani combo, not to mention a redone 'do. She thinks back to Miriam’s words of loving encouragement to Dan.

In town in the sacristy, the padre begins his discussions with a very disinterested and or distracted Yago who picks up a statue of some sort and plays with it instead of intently listening to what the Padre tells him.  (Somebody smack the snot owda him, ok?) Nat is all starry-eyed and says of course they want their child to be born inside the bounds of matrimony so that’s the reason they’ll be rushing the wedding.  Anselmo takes the distracting statue out of Yago’s hands (like some kid with ADD) and directs him to answer why he’s suddenly interested in marrying Nat when he doubted her word just a few days before.  “—Yago, do you love Natalia and want to spend the rest of your life with her?”  Yago says sure, cuz if it weren’t like that he wouldn’t be there.  “—So what was it that made you change your mind?  Because I found out that you doubted Natalia and even mistrusted her.  Later you said that it was because you felt frightened when you found out that you were going to be a father.  So tell me what was it that really happened, Yago."

Yago tries avoiding any substantive answer—especially the truthful one—and claims a priest wouldn’t have any comprehension.  Sure he would, counters Anselmo, he might wear a black robe, but he’s still a man.  He understands what it means to have to take responsibility almost overnight [de la noche a la mañana].  Nat reminds Yago the padre’s only there to advise, not to accuse.  (Well, not in this instance, kiddo.  It’s sort of the same thing, one side of the same coin.)  Yago says he knows enough to take responsibility and that he wants to be there for Nat and be with his child.  Nat says see?  He loves her and he’s doing the right thing.  (Sorry, it didn’t quite sound that way to me.)  Hopefully, says Anselmo, cuz both come out losing if it’s a force marriage.  Yago thinks to himself that anything would be better than putting up with whatever Dionisio would do to him; and it’s certain he’d torture him till he killed him if he didn’t marry his daughter!

Back in the kitchen at the M.Q., Pie remembers Sr. Dionisio’s evil threats and prays to the virgencita for guidance. “—He’s a black-hearted villain of a man, without morals and it doesn’t matter if he kills bulls, Daniel, or any of us.  I know I should tell what I heard, but it’s my daughter!  My little girl!!  She’ll be in danger!”  Hipolito walks in on her and hears her prayers—telenovela holy intervention numero uno.  He persuades her eventually to trust him and tell him what she’s talking about.  She finally gives in and tells him that Sr. Dionisio had something to do with the virus; that he was talking to someone on the phone when she came in and heard his conversation; he was saying that everything turned out better because Daniel got sick.  “--But then, when he noticed that I had heard him he threatened me and my Luzma.”  She repeats the threat word for word.  Hipo advises her that she can’t keep quiet about this, but she’s too frightened so he offers a compromise.  They’ll wait till Daniel gets well, and then she’ll tell him.  “He’s the only one who will know what to do and who can defend Luzma from that miserable wretch.”  Ok, but first the virgencita, she reminds him (via telenovela holy intervention numero dos) has to grant him cured.  ¡Ojalá!  “—If Sra. Agustina only knew what a monster she’s married to!”

In another part of the hacienda in Pablo’s office, he tells Mayalena that they’ve found nothing but there seems to be some vaccine in Argentina, though the permits aren’t completed yet.  He mentions that his shoulders and neck really hurt.  May offers to massage. (Danger, Will Robinson!!)  He catches himself just in time and pulls away from her, and adds that the other stockmen and promoters they had deals with understand the situation and are supportive; they’re not going to ask for anything more than some small sanctions for forfeiting.   Even so, the ranch will be bankrupt in no time if the bulls all die.  (So, Don Daniel El Primero never heard of insurance with an expensive investment like this???)  So, it might be better, he suggests, if May looks for a new job.  Nah, says May, she believes that Sr. Dan and the M.Q. will both be saved in time.  Well, if not they’ll all be looking for another job, says Pablo.  May says either way she’s sticking it out till the end, because whatever happens she’ll have found a new friend.  (Okiedok.)

Back at Amanda’s,  Luz and Ana show up.  Luz goes off with Nat and leaves Ana to apologize to Teresa.  Daddy’s two contending females have a much needed heart-to-heart.  Tere asks why Ana doesn’t like her and Ana answers because she knows she didn’t like her mama.  What?  Ana admits to overhearing Tere and Mar’s conversation about her going to their wedding.  Tere clears that up for Ana.  “—I went to the wedding, but when I realized how much your father and your mother loved each other, I decided to get out of the way [hacerse a un lado].  I feel the same about your father even now, and I hope that you won’t reject me and will let me have the chance to be close to him and you.

In the car with Mir now, Mariano tells her to unload.  He knows she has been dying to.  She tells him tearfully that it was horrible seeing Dan there and not being able to do a thing for him.  She just can’t imagine life without him!  (Mar’s been there, done that and got the darned teeshirt.)  He explains how Dan accidentally cut himself and that it entered the bloodstream, infecting him immediately.   One feels so desperate, she says, when they’re unable to help the one they love.  I can only imagine how he felt when I went into a coma.  Yes, he agrees, and I don’t know how I’d have reacted if this had happened to Camila.  Oh, she asks, are they dating?  No, but he admits to being in love with her and hoping that one day she might come to feel the same way about him.

Mir mentions she knows that Cam was very hurt by her first husband.  Yeah, she was widowed.  They discuss his being a widower also and that he has an eleven year old daughter, and that he finally decided to give love another chance when Cam came into his life.  Mir wonders why she doesn’t feel anything romantic towards Mariano.  She looks at Mar and poses a telling question.   “—Don’t you have the sense that she has a different sort of interest in Daniel?  Something beyond simple gratefulness, something more akin to love?”   Hot Topic Alert!!  Mar stutters.  Unwilling to enter the verbal field of landmines, he starts the engine up.   “—We’ll be late.  Let’s get moving!”

Luz and Nat are chatting about baby gifts and pregnancy.  Nat catches herself and apologizes.  Luzma says no harm done.  They just haven’t been given the okay yet from the doctor.  Once they do it, grins Nat, they’ll be in seventh heaven! Doing “it” with the man you love is the absolute best!! (Yadda, yadda…..)  FF>>

Back at Dead Bulls Run, Rod comes to the cabana to tell Cam the count’s now up to seventy-two and climbing.  “—I don’t know what we’re going to do.  This is unstoppable!”

Outside a bit later, Rod gets another unwanted visit from Ileana.  “--Get out of here!  I’m busy. Don’t you know what’s happening here?”  I don’t give a damn, says Bratty Bitch. Yeah, but they’ve got a virus there and she could catch it.  (Ojalá!)  She's got more Natalia blues-news for him and he’ll have to listen and deal.  Yago’s told her that Nat’s just another piece of business and far from what his little housemaid thinks, it’s not love he’s marrying her for! “—Watch your mouth!  Besides, Nat doesn’t have access to that kind of money.  You don’t know what you’re talking about.”  Ill-y reminds him that she just acquired a new, very rich papa who pressured Yago into marrying her, blinding him with bling (quite a new twist on a shotgun wedding wouldn’t you agree?) and giving him one heck of an expensive watch just for starters.  “--And she’s probably swearing that he’s so-o-o-o in love with her, the poor little thing.”

Meanwhile, Dionisio surveys the chaos and carnage with a smug smile.   He’s thinking that he’s antsy as all get out to hand this ranch over and especially with dead bulls aplenty.  (Viewerville looks closely at the screen and into those eyes.  Are they gold, reptilian-like eyes in his head we see?)  He takes a call from Omar.  Yeah, set the meeting up this time!  Click!  He looks around again and tells himself that soon this will be the best tourist center in the entire region.

At the same time (dressed in black for the happy occasion, we note) Issadora and her new hubby are en route back to Mexico.  She smiles smugly to herself and looks over at Cayetonto snoring next to her.  “—Yes, you gave me authority over La Buenaventura for six months.  I have to get rid of you before that time lapses.  I can’t run the risk of you changing your mind, or that you revoke it beforehand.  As soon as I am a widow, I am thinking I will give myself a queen’s lifestyle with Dionisio; and finally we’ll be able to live with our relationship in the open, traveling throughout the entire world…with your fortune!”  Cara de exuberantly beaming viuda negra araña de Isssadora.

Thanks Jardinera, can't wait.

Jardinera- I so agree about the emotional roller coaster! Can't wait to read your take on it, which I'm sure will be a fun ride. :)

Quick thought: Miriam with Mariano or Rafa. I liked her interactions with both.

Interesting, netgirl...interesting thought.

Fatima

Could someone explain what Abraham is doing in jail? I couldn't understand it and I'm too impatient to wait for Jardinera's recap.

cathyx, I felt the same way about the Abe in Jail scene! If I understood correctly, I heard him tell the man who was visiting him (I am assuming a former worker) that he, Abe, had abused his power and authority by locking up Daniel and that he (Abe) deserved to be jailed. The fellow who was visiting him asked him why he took the chance in coming back when he knew that he might be caught and jailed.

That scene happened so quickly and was like a curve ball out of nowhere. Some continuity issues there for sure. At any rate, that is what I got out of CONTEXT and was unable to hear the mumbled conversation very well.

I'm sure Vivi in DC will straighten me out. Right, Vivi (insert "wink" emoticon here)?

Fatima

Jardinera -- Take your time. We know it will be worth the wait.

Netgirl - Mariano and Miriam were so good together. Rene S. played every one of his scenes with Miriam to perfection. He's a talented actor and has often scene wasted in the role of the "segundo plato", a role he has had so many times in past novelas.

So much going on and so many possibilities for resolution. I'm really like Hipolito. The guy is perceptive and wise.

The Abe situation: Abe promised Dan that he would go back to Chile and 1) clear Dan's name; and 2) open the case against Dio. The only way to do either of these things was to admit his own part in screwing up the case in the first place-- throwing Dan in jail unjustly with no due process, lying to him about Miriam being dead-- leading to his desperate escape from prison, and then most recently burying the case files when a lawyer from Mexico came asking questions. The case can't be reopened, and Dio accused, without all that crap being straightened out, and that means Abe had to tell the truth about his role and face the consequences-- loss of job, and jail time. Gaston is his subordinate who worked with him closely, even on the Dan case, and is also the one who helped give Teresa the runaround when she came looking for info at the Chile police department.

I like Miriam with Mariano, net girl. I think Rafa belongs with Vivi.

Thanks Fatima. I figured it was just what you said, or he was trying to obtain info from someone in jail and he was posing as an inmate.

Although I feel sorry for everyone involved in this deceit, I was especially feeling sorry for Miriam today. But I think that her overhearing the conversation was the best way for her to learn of what is happening. Now the details will slowly come to her and she can digest them at a more acceptable pace, as opposed to all at once.

The avances looked so promising. And for those who are weary of the bad guys getting such a leg up, you will be heartened.

Abe committed a crime when he abused his power to jail Dan without due process and to further complicate the issues when Miriam came back from the coma, he erased/disappeared Dan’s arrest file and went into hidden with Miriam.

He brought Miriam to Mexico when he found out Dan was alive and well; at his return back to Chili, he was arrested and jailed because of his abuse power and fraud. We were never shown him being arrested, hence the discrepancy.

Fatima, you didn’t miss anything; your take on his conversation with his former assistant/friend Detective Gaston is correct. Gaston is now covering for him by not letting Miriam know that he’s currently in jail – one more thing they’re hiding from Miriam --

Myo-

You are welcome, cathyx!

When that scene first started, I did a double take and asked myself...who is really behind bars, here!

What's funny (for me only, I'm sure) is that for the past 3 episodes with so much bad stuff going down, I kept wondering "where is that jerk Abe who is responsible for a good portion of this?" Lo and behold...there he was!

Fatima

Thank you, Myo! My Spanish is getting much better!! Yippee!!

Fatima

Myo- I don't think they arrested Abe as soon as he came back to Chile, since he had been successful in burying everything. I think he kept his word and re-opened the case, meaning he confessed and turned himself in.

Chili=you eat
Chile= the country

Vivi, you’re probably right. The reason I assumed that his arrest was immediate was because last night, he told Gaston that he wanted him to head off the investigation into the Dionisio case. I would have thought if he confessed to everything, he might have already turned over the case to Gaston prior to his visit.

Myo-

jajaja Cathyx, quick fingers. We need correct function on the blog.

Myo-

Renata, I figured that was probably the case. But that's the second time I saw that mistake recently in the comments and I don't want people thinking that's the way to spell the country. If people knew how completely anal retentive I am about those kind of things, they would think I should be committed. It's everything I can do to keep myself from doing it more often.

UA: so, while I listen to the pale imitation on my oh so fine standard issue car speakers, you're basking in the full natural surround sound of this particular love performance of Parsifal at the Met?

Compared to that, I'm not going to feel quite as special when I'm at our local company's Turandot in a couple weeks.

Hope you enjoyed.
Chris in Fla

Vivi, I went back and watched that part again (so I'm cazy) -- no distraction when watching AB, you might miss crucial conversation.

Myo-

Myo- I know what you mean about no distractions during this show, or you'll miss something important. During the 8 and 9 pm shows I exercise, I check e-mails and the blog, I fold laundry, etc. But not during AB.

Netgirl- I liked the interaction between Mariano and Miriam too, but I need to see more of them together to decide if I see them as a couple. Certainly, they both were VERY affected by seeing how much Camila cares for Daniel.

I think Rene and Miriam make a good couple. They have a lot in common. Both have children and both seem to have lost at love.

Can't wait for your recap, Jard. But don't rush. Yours is worth waiting for.

Ann-NYC

Apologies for my post full of typos -- my laptop cursor jumps and requires more proofreading that I apparently did this morning! Didn't mean to say that I was wise and perceptive like Hipolito, rather that I like Hipolito!

To more serious issues, the jail time shows that Abraham is paying his dues and has atoned for his deception. This is definitely good for his relationship with Miriam. I assume that the Scoobies will do something to help advance his freedom.

I loved the scene of Leo and Aaron in the jailhouse school room, with Leo struggling to tell his story. I was rooting for Aaron to get it, and then had to laugh at myself. The whole set-up is so ridiculous, but well worth the beanie tightening if in the end Isadora gets hers.

And, speaking of the she-devil, Isadora apparently does miss and harbor feelings for Dionisio.
I do love to see them foiled and look forward with glee to Monday night!

My favorite scene of the night, however, was when that non-diplomat Fr. Anselmo took the coffee-table figurine out of Iago's hands to force him to concentrate on why he had changed his mind about marrying Natalia. Iago has gone from bad to worse and however cloying and naive she may be, Natalia doesn't deserve him.

Traveling Lady--ITA about the figurine. That was beyond rude. He couldn't pretend to be interested for 5 minutes? Padre A so has his number.

So New Girl finally makes her move and offers her married, cute boss a neck massage. Good of Panlo for recognizing how inappropriate that was and shame on New Girl for betraying Luzma, especially after what she's been through. The way Myella looks at Pablo with those huge eyes is a little psycho if you ask me. I could see her becoming obsessed and doing something crazy!

I love me an Isadora karmageddon scene. Can't wait til Monday!!! Between Amanda's neighbors testimony, Leo and his flash cards and the new evidence the padre was strangled, her honeymoon is officially over!!!

And PS: Dio talks about Camila non stop! How is Isa so dumb to think she will ride off into the sunset with him?!

Katy

One more small detalle while we wait for Jar's recap. MM couldn't understand why Abe wasn't answering the phone, just when she needed clarification about what she overheard. She was getting pretty antsy, then called Gaston. I think he told her he was away at a meeting or something.

Ann--NYC--It's nice to think about Mariano and Miriam together, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Miriam doesn't think she has lost at love yet. She is aware that something about Dan is very different now, but will probably attribute it to all the stuff he went through that she's just finding out about. She sees the connection between Cam 'n Dan. I think Mariano did a beautiful job of explaining it, although it hurt him to be only partially truthful about his own hopes with Cam, while hiding Cam 'n Dan's truth.

Vivi--You nailed it in fewer words than I did, >>Certainly, they both were VERY affected by seeing how much Camila cares for Daniel.<<

Marta--Rafa and Vivi not only have some soul searching before they can find true happiness; they have to learn to communicate with each other frankly. Lots of couples weather storms like theirs, so we have two high-spirited people who want to be together--I'm voting they'll be together at the end. But--where will Roman be? Too bad they didn't choose a more "high-spirited" kid for them.

I was surprised to see Abe in jail already, too. I guess the producers wanted this thing to end at 166 and had to cut out more explanatory stuff. Or, they figured we wouldn't be interested in seeing how he got there with all the "viri" contagion going on at LMQ and Hissy and Caye's "ruined" honeymoon and whether Luz and Pablo are finally going to get their noche de boda.

I'm also a little annoyed by how we are "exposed" to the avances. We saw Cam giving Dan CPR in the avances for last night, but it didn't happen. That or some cliff hanger they've shown us comes in the last 2 minutes and we've been waiting for 60-14 minutes for it.

TL--Thanks for reminding me of Pd. Anselmo's intervention. It was so obvious that Iago had absolutely no interest in the proceedings and was letting motor-mouth Natalia do all the talking! And also the Leo-Aaron. Twenty-questions anyone? Good lord, they could have gotten that out of him a long time ago--he could always nod or shake his head. OTOH, the officials probably wouldn't have trusted his answers before this or that he was willing to cooperate.

On with the Show!

Ok, folks. I know you get antsy and I'm unable to get this thing up before late on Sat's. I will kindly ask as blog monitor that you only give a bare-bones explanation when somebody cannot wait for the recap. If everyone starts copying and quoting whatever they want out of a script word for word (and Gato's thing is great but it's not always a perfect translation) then you'll have to agree there's no reason for somebody to slave over a recap. Also, we don't want to abuse his work and have him or the blog compromised.

p.s. My apologies to Vario and ViviDC cuz your heart's in the right place. If you care to avoid GV's mention and paraphrase, then be my guest by all means in giving a quick rundown.

No worries Jardinera. Totally understand. I think since none of us can be 100% sure of our memory, it helps to point to the text, but folks can always go to GV's site themselves to check.

Loved Part 1. I especially enjoyed the line about Rafa poo pooing hope. LOL! He really shot down Aaron's hope and sunshine routine. On the positive side, he agreed with Vivi! Those two have been so at odds theses days, that it's a positive even when they agree on something negative. :)

I agree that Mariano and Miriam seemed to hit it off. They were able to talk about private matters without even knowing each other. And I loved how Mariano didn’t ever lie to her. He avoided answering some of her questions and didn’t give her all the details that he might have, but he told her the truth.

I think one thing that is interesting about M&M connection is how it counterbalances that of Dante & Teresa. M&M would both like Dan & Miriam to stay together; Mariano so Camila is unattached (plus I think that he doesn’t respect Dan very much, apart from their romantic rivalry) and obviously Miriam wants to stay with Dan. OTOH, Dante and Teresa both want Dan and Miriam to break up, so each could take off with the separated pieces. (Although to be fair, Dante has been a good friend to both Dan and Miriam and has helped them stay together because he thinks that will make Miriam happy.) So much is swirling around this six-part stew pot, gotta love it!

TL, I loved it when Padre Anselmo took that figurine away from Yago, too. It was like something he’d do to a small child, which is an appropriate way to treat him, I suppose.

Interesting how we saw more confirmation that Isa has a real romantic interest in Dio. We had seen a hint or two of that before, but now this. She isn’t really capable of love, is she? Is Dio? Is anyone capable of loving anyone as purely evil as either of them?

Katy, LOL about Isa’s honeymoon being over! I can’t wait for her to get what’s coming. It will not be pretty.

What a powerful first paragraph, Jardinera. You really grabbed my rapt attention with that.

When Dionysio first hatched this horrible plan my first thought was how many cows are we talking about here? Imagine the clean up...it boggles the mind.

I was stunned to see Piedad standing there. Wow, that really has the potential to move things along.

Carlos

Run Isa run! Sweet talk your way outta this. I'm not ready for you to get caught. With 30 some odd chapters left to go, it's a bit much to be left with Dio having to perform all the evil/dirty schemes and destruction. Dio probably wont get caught and punished until the closing credits are rolling.

60??? Lots of cows, gone before their time. Should we have some kind of memorial?

Loved the Mariano-Miriam scenes. Nice to see Mariano continue his truth-telling, although (unlike the padre) his truth sledgehammer is made of nerf. Honest, but not so much that she flips out and her brain explodes. They'd be a good couple, all kinds of sweetness and light.

And good for Piedad for at least telling Hipo. Wish she felt comfortable enough telling Mariano. Without Daniel, he's protector #1 even he does have an amazing amount of crap going on now.

Kelly

Guao! Jardinera, you've hit this one out of the park. Starting with the title. (This is one incredible show. What are we all gonna do when it's over?)

"There has been nothing quite as horrendous or as devastating as the sight of motionless mounds of beautiful black bull beasties’ bodies scattered in throughout the pastures of La Malquerida
" Indeed.

And, "that smug schmo of a Big Bro" plus "his ever-present, pained lad of 40-something lovelorn look". You win the prize for most apt characterizations using the most creative language. Ever. Looking forward to Parte Dos

Good point Jardinera & Vivi about going to Gato's site on our own. In the end, it's less distracting from the give & take of regular comments

I, for one, have arrived at the cocktail hour out here in east-coastlandia and am relaxing with all the comments thus far.
(Listening to Wagner's Parsifal on the radio this afternoon, just heard the curtain go down at the Met, so UA is probably hiking back to her apartment and we will hear from her soon).

Carolina: "So much is swirling around this six-part stew pot, gotta love it!"

Kelly: Mariano's "truth sledgehammer is made of nerf"

—Agnes

Thanks Jardinera for parte uno. Funny how several of us were listening to Parsifal this afternoon on each coast, but lucky UA for being there in person.

Loved the scene with Padre and Pogostick Yago. I can't believe they'll marry in the end so it'll be interesting what/how/who breaks them up. And when is Bratgirl leaving already?

Sorry all. Had to correct some mistakes and typos. Hope it's not been too distracting.
==========

Carlos/AgnesNY: I have to say that it takes quite a bit to make me clutch the ol' estomago and fight back the lagrimas, but seeing the fields full of those poor dead animals--aside from being a waste of some damn tasty victuals--the image on the screen was totally mind-numbing. I suddenly saw what Camila must have been seeing (multitudinous kudos to the special fx and camera team) and the slaughter was so suffocatingly real.

Thanks, all! Hopefully you will like parte dos as well. : > ))

Thank you Jardinera.

Gotta get started on Parte Dos. But was anyone else puzzled by why on earth Piedad was standing at the door of the LMQ office when she was supposed to be rushing the ice to the cabana? Hmmmmm. Plot device, no doubt. Dio should have recognized it as such.

Yes Anita, I thought it strange that Piedad was standing at the office door with the ice bag.

My favorite part of the avances is when Aggie tells Dio that the ranch is saved, as well as Dan, because the vacunas have been found ... or whatever it is she said. Loved the look on his mean nasty, albeit handsome, face.

Jardinera, part2...what a treat. What a great way to pass a Sat afternoon...Jardinera prose and a taste of Johnnie Walker Black.

"They’ll wait till Daniel gets well, and then she’ll tell him."

¿Que? Why not just wait until the Holy Virgin appears on the patio?

Let's hope that Miriam's connections in Chile are reliable.

The scene with Aarón and Leoncio was hilarious...was it meant to be?

Carlos

Carlos: ..."Holy Virgin on the patio", made me laugh out loud! And no, I don't think Leo/Aaron scene was supposed to be funny haha.

On another subject, that is one big oyster in your picture!

Thanks, Jardinera, for yet another magnificent recap. You really helped me with parts I didn't fully understand (e.g., what Abe said in prison) and, of course, I loved your wit and your way with words. I chuckled over your saying that Camila asks her mother to intercede with "a backstop request to Dios and La Virgencita (depending who’s shift it is)." And yes, I agree, poor dude Mariano "has got to be wondering by now just what does that Dan guy have that I don’t to have both of these women so passionately in love with him when he’s got what?? Attorney Teresa with the ho-hum face-huh???" I enjoyed the scene with Numbskull Natalia, Iago, and the Padre, especially when Iago was defiantly playing with the statue/toy and Padre Anselmo took it away from him as he might from "some kid with ADD."

Though I fully expect that this telenovela will end with a(nother) boda for Camila and Daniel and some kind of appropriate karmageddon for Hissa and Dio, I'm finding it hard to predict what will happen to a number of other characters. Iago for one. I somehow can't believe that he'll actually marry Natalia--at least, I hope not. Will he live to the end of the TN? Be gored by one of the few remaining bulls? And why is Iliana still in the TN? I keep thinking that she must have an important role yet to play, but I can't imagine what it is. Ditto for Not-So-New Girl. I wonder too whether there's any ominous significance to Miriam's almost fainting in Friday's episodio. And speaking of ominous significance, I can't forget Dio's ominous thoughts about Agustina. I keep fearing that she won't make it to the end of the TN. Indeed, there seems no place for her after all is resolved.

My very cloudy crystal ball is of no use whatsoever.

Guten abend, meinen freunden...

Just to get this out of the way, Parsifal was fabulous in HD. I saw it live two weeks ago on its opening night and this is a different type of experience. There are more subtitles to read than usual with Wagner because of the nature of his libretti; it's sometimes almost better to see a relatively unfamiliar work in the movie theatre where the subtitles are easier to read and not as much of a distraction from watching the stage.

However, hearing the music live is mandatory for its full effect. The opening music was used in the grail scenes of John Boorman's Excalibur; other music by Wagner is also in this film. Here is the opening as conducted by Sir Georg Solti.

The music is glorious and the acting was excellent by the five principals; it's hard to believe that Jonas Kaufmann has only done one previous production of this and seven years ago! He is perfect in this role as the young innocent who resists temptation on the road to not only his own redemption but that of others.

The others all were great in their roles; I won't belabor this for those who aren't into opera (or Wagner, for that matter). This will be on PBS sometime in the next TV season; I'll post a link to the schedule when it's online.

Amazing Jardinera. Parte Dos was fab. This line is the winner tho': "Mariano, looking for all he’s worth—and that, we know, ain’t no paltry passel o’ pesos--like a long-tailed cat in the middle of a room full of rocking chairs,"

The last time I saw a febrile protagonista all laid out like Manet's dead Christ was Fernando Colunga in Alborada. They weren't using ice packs on him. They picked up the corners of the sheet and dumped him into a tina filled with ice water. None of these dinky ice packs for our hero. No wonder Cami can't get the fever down.

Sorry, I didn't really type protagonista for Fernando, nor for Dan for that matter. My keyboard got stuck.

LoriLoo, I love the idea that some of us are listening to the same thing on opposite coasts! —Agnes

Finally home from a day long meeting.
Thanks for the recap and sorry for asking for a translation of why Abraham was in jail. Impatience is one of my vices.

I'm glad that Ileana is still around so that she was able to tell Rodolfo about Yago being bribed. Can't wait for the fallout from that.

I, too, was surprised by Isa mentioning that she actually had a thing for Dion. She has mentioned in the past about never falling for anyone, so I was surprised about that.

I wonder what will happen with Leo's confession about Isa cutting his tongue. Aaron mentioned calling Juarez about writing a statement.

Dion being overheard. Finally.

I'm more convinced than ever that Nat and Yago will not marry.

Thanks Jardinera. You covered a lot of stuff and I feel things are speeding up as we head into the final weeks.

I am so happy Piedad told Hipolito about Dio. But why they decided to wait until Dan gets better is beyond me.

Carlos - LOL, on "¿Que? Why not just wait until the Holy Virgin appears on the patio?" And I don't think the Leo/Aaron scene was supposed to be serious though I laughed as well.

Padre was hilarious dealing w/infant Iago.

Someone mentioned the possibility of Cam shooting Dio b/c of the bulls and/or self-defense. I like this idea especially in light of Dio's smug looks.

Good stuff, Jardinera.

On one level it would be better for Nat to not marry Iagho. But she (or her baby) will inherit his share of La Buenaventura after El Diablo gives him that cement overcoat.

As to Hissadora's feelings for El Diablo, I'm sure they'd stop as soon as he cheated on her for real and she'd be ready to channel Lorena Bobbitt right after blowing away the competition.

Yikes! I've gotten yet another slap on the hand for answering cathyx re Abe in Jail.

Probably best for me to just move on and forget posting here as I don't seem to catch on to your rules very quickly. Nothing was written with intent to interfere with the work of the recapper.

Anyway...thanks again and will enjoy reading your posts from afar.

Fatima

Jardinera, I don't want to offend you but if you would allow me to question this without it causing a problem, I'd like clarification on this
"Ana and her new SIL are discussing said Dr. Phil fodder". Wouldn't Luzma be Ana's aunt instead of her sister in law?

Thank you, Jardinera, for a marvelous recap. It was well worth the wait.

“(Yeah, Cam, we understand things are dire, but do you really have to kiss his hands and grovel at his feet to make the point?) Mar stares at her, apparently as uncomfortable with this kind of response from his heart throb as we are, and asks her not to be this way.” Oh, yes he did, didn’t he? Camila, hon, your mom is right. Go take a shower and freshen up a bit. You’ll feel a lot better.

“Just then Mir rushes inside. (Knocking first? Ringing the doorbell? Who wastes their time doing that? Telenovela rules specify that in times of trouble, anguished parties may barge inside anywhere they please and at any time.)” Someday, I would like to be in the midst of a TN emergency just to invoke this privilege.

Losing a spouse? “Mar’s been there, done that and got the darned teeshirt.” So quit yer gawl derned whining about things that haven’t even happened to people that you don’t even know, mkay, Missy Prissy?

Kelly said: “60??? Lots of cows, gone before their time. Should we have some kind of memorial?” We could *salud* every time a new body count comes in. Is that what you have in mind? :)

Mariano does indeed have a nerf sledgehammer, lol. And Piedad? She needs to rummage through her toolbox and make sure she even HAS a sledgehammer of truth. I think she may have misplaced it. It’s a good thing that Hippopotamus (or whatever) keeps his handy.

Carlos, I think that you and Johnie Walker Black and posting are a terrific combination. :)

Like others, I couldn’t follow the convo between Abe and his colleague very well. I had trouble getting past the impactada of seeing him in jail. As for needing to focus on AB, I copied this little ditty down from somewhere on the intertubes and taped to the TV room door: “Voy a ver mi novela y no quiero nada de rudio.” Now if I could just get everybody to leave me alone while I am trying to read the recap … *muttermuttermutter*

Ok, now I know that I don’t like Miriam (and you probably know that, too) and I might be a teensy bit biased against her, but did it seem to anyone else that her little visit to the unconscious Dan was TOTALLY self-indulgent? What good did that do to step into that room and make that ridiculous speech to a comatose man? It gave her some warm fuzzies and nothing else. Trees died for that paper apron, you know. And little latex bushes gave their blood. Gah. She bugs me, ya think?

I am also having a hard time believing that Nat and Yago will marry. Nat is as dumb as a box of piedras, but she doesn’t deserve THAT.

Fatima, NOOOOOO! Please don’t go away. Nobody was slapping your hand (that I could see). I enjoy your posts.

Amazing recap, Jardinera!!
This episode was an emotional roller coaster, glad it was on a Friday.
You did a splendid job of catching all of the details and with flair.
I can't wait until the Comandante arrests Hissadora at the airport on Monday.

@ Traveling Lady no worries about the typo! I actually thought it was very funny when you said "I'm really like Hipolito. The guy is perceptive and wise." Lol I believed it! But yes ITA he's a good judge of character, going back to when he said Mayalen is "confiazuda" which I don't think there's a good English tranlslation for but I think means someone who is too forward(?) anyway I also really liked what Katy said about the way Mayalen looked at Pablo! It really creeped me out too!

This was a great recap! Thank you! I speak fluent Spanish but I truly enjoy reading these recaps for the witty remarks, observations and perspectives! I really appreaciate all of the contributors work!

Lastly I want to add that I'm a firm supporter of a M&M coupling. I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again. When Mar first met Mir he said something like he could tell Miriam is an enchanting women and I truly believe his words were of the foreshadowing variety. With their interaction in the episode I think the seed is being planted. Mir is going to grow into relying on Mar for emotional support as she starts to realize what's really going on. Kelly loved the "sledge hammer made of nerf" lol ITA with you on M&M's scene :)

Question: Oops! Mental block! Yep! Will correct!

Fatima: No reason to! No harm, no foul and no reason to race off, amiga. We all swim with the sharks here and how else do you expect to join the ranks of "old-timer"??? Anyway, it was not the question/-er it was the method in answering that I responded to. We've all been there, done that at one time or another, especially us old-timers!!
=========

Tablet Jefa and Katy (?): Welcome--sorry if I've been remiss in greeting you!
=========
Lily: You've paid those of us who will always remain a member of the rank of student a great compliment! Thanks! (Anyway, this particular recapper at times is just stuck and goes with the gut and guesses! First impressions and whatnot. LOL!)
==========
I also began to wonder if Miriam and Mariano wouldn't end up together and possibly neighbors to DanCam since Dan would then not have to be totally separated from his daughter and prevented from seeing her grow up. IMO Dante has to return to Chile since that's where his job is. Aaron and Tere could hook up with less problem then. I pretty much like the idea of Yucky Yago "buying the farm" both figuratively and literally for Nat once Daddy Dio is done with him. Nat could marry Rodolfo then and he'd enter the landed gentry class as his reward--but he still may be someobdy's heretofore unclaimed illegitimate son. Illy is going to get redeemed somehow IMHO, but I haven't the imagination or foresight to figure out how.

Jardinera- Thanks for a wonderful Part 2!

I totally believe that the director and actors played the Leo-Aaron jail scene tongue-in-cheek (pun intended). If there was any doubt, it was made clear to me when Leo used the alphabet chart, and points to a happy, smiling bat (murciélago) to spell the word “matar.” LOL!

Carlos- "¿Que? Why not just wait until the Holy Virgin appears on the patio?" LOL! So true. Well, I guess Piedad and Hipolito don’t want to add yet another problem to Camila’s very full plate right now. Plus, waiting a while might give Piedad the chance to calm down a bit. Maybe.

OK Mayalen. I decided to trust you and like you when you helped Luzma, but now you’re sliding back over to my bad list.

Lily—Confiazuda/too forward is the perfect way to describe Mayalen. Hipolito is right on target in the way he described her, and it’s not just with Pablo. On her first day of work, when Camila was going over stuff with her on the computer, she immediately starts using the familiar “tu” with Camila and Cam pops her head up from the computer a bit surprised. It’s only then that Mayalen apologizes and THEN asks if she can use the familiar with Cam. Cam agrees, but she still looked like she was a bit thrown off by Mayalen just assuming she could do it. I mean, this is her BOSS, on her first day of work, and they’ve only really just met. Doesn’t matter if she helped Luzma out. That doesn’t make them all best friends. Then of course the other day when she volunteered info to Yago without being asked for her opinion or input. That really bugged Camila and she let it be known in the way she dismissed Mayalen from the cabin. It seems this tendency of hers to be too familiar with people will cause some trouble, and perhaps not just with Pablo. I was very proud of Pablo for putting a real quick end to that inappropriate massage.

I thought Camila handled having to deal with Miriam very well this episode. She was caring, understanding, and attentive towards Miriam (even checking her temperature and rubbing her hands down with sanitizer), and was able to listen to Miriam’s words of undying love to Dan without shedding a tear. Just last week she couldn’t stand to be in the same room with the woman for more than five minutes without fleeing and/or breaking into tears. This is good progress. If Miriam is to live at the end of this tn, then she and Camila are going to have to learn to be around each other (and hopefully like each other) for the sake of Agatha.

As for Isa and her “love” for Dio-- she doesn’t know the meaning of the word. But they have been sowing seeds since the beginning of this tn that Isa wants Dio to want her. She wants him to need and desire her, more than she needs or desires him. Isa can’t stand that he married Gussy because he needed her, or that he desires Camila above all other women (including and especially her). If Dio were to suddenly becoming totally devoted to her and started drooling over her, like Cayetano does, she would be amused for a while, but then she’d get bored. She’s becoming obsessed with Dio for the same reason Dio is obsessed with Cam—because she can’t really have him.

Great recap Jar, as usual

I promise to never again post a word for word copy of gato viejo's blog.

I was just so confused about that scene, I had to immediately find out what it was about.

!lo siento!

Jardinera - Muchas gracias. Terrific recap. I too loved the "long-tailed cat."

Mariano and Miriam get my vote. Great chemistry.

Loved the scene with Aaron and Leo and the cute alphabet poster. Wondering who will get to kill Leo, cause surely he won't survive.

Vivi, I agree with you about Hissadora and El Diablo. She prefers to have the upper hand by being the less emotionally involved in a pair. I don't think she sees Gussie as any serious competition.

Teresa would be a different story if she were his target.

She is laughing at his notion that he can have Camila because she knows better. She herself had previously underestimated Camila's intelligence and sees that he is now doing exactly that.

Thanks to how badly other men have judged hers (her father and later the husband who was 5 years younger than God) this situation amuses her ...for the moment. It will be less amusing later when the last play needs to be made.

Thank you, Jardinera. What a complete and completely funny recap. I have to believe that the writers had great fun setting up red herrings for the viewers. All that tender and sweet dialogue between M and M, which you captured with just the right amount of snark, has to come to something.
or does it????? I am hoping so, but I am getting used to being fooled in this novela -- part of the fun of watching.

Vivi, I'm with you on Mayalen. I decided that she was ok because of helping Luzma, now I'm very leery of her. I wonder if she's to have some other role to play soon because her behavior makes no sense. Maybe Dion hired her to make mess or cook the books?

The only two things that could make Mariano a bad choice for Miriam are:

1. He still loves Camila
2. He's a rancher and Miriam is a city woman.

And what about the religious issue? Who would convert in that pairing up?

Anybody have any idea how much time Abe has to do?

I too have been tempted to pair Miriam with Mariano, but then I ask myself how I would feel if I had been married to Dan, had a child with him, and then had to be his neighbor and watch him love another woman. I also wonder how Agatha would feel, being told that Dan is her father, rather than (or at best in addition to) Mariano. That seems to me a difficult situation for a child to process. For these reasons, I think it would be best if Miriam and Agatha return to Chile (and Miriam marries Dante, who adores her). Being at a distance from Ana may be difficult for Dan, but I think he can deal with this more easily than Miriam and Agatha would if they lived at Buenaventura.

I also suspect that the clearing of the air that Teresa and Ana had in Friday's episode may pave the way for an eventual match between Mariano and Teresa.

BTW, I was very happy to learn about the word "confiazuda," but I think I should mention that I then looked it up in my dictionary, which says that the word is confianzuda. I mention this only to be helpful, not as a criticism. Indeed, I really appreciate people mentioning this and other Spanish words. Improving my Spanish is my (ostensible) reason for watching telenovelas. :-)

Thanks for yet another fantastic recap Jardinera. I really don't know how you do it week after week. Kudos again to your opening and as already mentioned, "that smug schmo of a Big Bro" is just the best! How do you do it?

U/A, Paquita, Mena and Kat, thanks for all the hard work this past week. Kat, your "duh, Aaron, that would really suck" line still sticks in my mind as a true LOL moment.

Utah Desert, thanks for the following comment the other day: "Vaccines aren't cures, right? On the other hand, I realize Daniel needs a miracle cure, and it would overcomplicate things to have the good guys searching for both a vaccine and a cure. So I guess I'll cheer in an episode or two when they inject Daniel with a vaccine intended to prevent lifestock from becoming sick with cabrex and not approved for humans and he miraculously recovers." I know we just have to accept this, but hey, the truth just needs to be said and thanks for doing it so well.

Although it was to advance his personal agenda, I had to applaud Dionisio's call to the authorities this week. This was a call I'm sure Camila was obligated to make as soon as she knew the was dealing with the (doesn't-exist-in-real-life) cabrex virus. By not notifying the authorities, she probably put her license to practice in jeopardy. More importantly, she put the health of all the cattle of neighborhood ranches (and the livelihood of the ranchers) at risk. This was so not a Camila-like thing to do.

Mariano really is such a good person that I think I could be OK with Dan fulfilling the role of being inconvenient and dying. Dan could be the guy that tried to help and protect those around him though he never asked for any of this. Dan tried the best he could to do what he could. Bittersweet memories could almost sanctify him. Meanwhile, Camila could be with someone who in is very like her in interests and attitude to life. Miriam would end up with Dante and go back to Chile. If Teresa ended up with anyone, I guess it would have to be Aaron. They're not really that suited as a couple but maybe in this case Aaron could teach the rather tightly wound Teresa to just chill at times. I'm pretty sure Dan is not leaving us, but wanted to mention I could be OK with this scenario now where earlier in the show I definitely wouldn't have been.

Would it be any easier for Agatha to live thousands of miles away from her father than to live next door to him and to also have a great step dad? Doesn't matter how the adults feel. In the end, no matter who ends up with whom, they'll have to suck it up for the sake of the child.

Re: Vaccines vs. Cures--think "therapeutic vaccines". Use this link if you'd like a quick rundown in the first two paragraphs and then adjust your beanies to allow for types developed for animals. Otherwise, since the guia says vacuna, that's all we've got to go on, I believe.

@ Juanita, you are right about the spelling, of Confianzuda, I may have just been typing too fast and since it's a Spanish word my auto correct didn't catch it, apologies. Don't want to confuse anyone but has anyone else heard the slang term "concha" lol I think I would use that for Mayelen too, I really don't like her. When she helped Luzma I was glad but I feel like it was just a way to deter everyone from seeing her true character.

Juanita and UA, you brought some excellent cons for an M&M pairing that has got me thinking. I guess I feel like for the sake of the happily ever after ending most TN's go for, these obstacles would be somehow neatly resolved. I would say I'm young but I've grown up watching TN's with my Mexican family and I feel like stranger things have happened :) but we shall see, like you said, Traveling Lady, this novela has fooled us and that's what I love about it!

...and I just copied from Lily. :)

Whatever happens, I just don't want Miriam to die because that's just too easy. It would make things simpler, but I don't want the writers to go for simple.

For a happily-ever-after for Dan and Cam to work, with Miriam still alive, these three people are going ot have to learn how to get along with and cooperate with each other, because there is a child involved. This is not going to be easy for any of them, but I will be proud of all three (and the writers) if they can make it work in the end.

I didn't watch Amor Real (I've seen bits), but didn't the protagonista have a first love, who she thought was dead due to her family's lies and deceptions, and then she married and fell in love with the main galan? This situation in AB is more complicated because the hero was actually married to the first woman and because there is a child involved. How did they solve it in Amor Real? Did her first love die in the end?

Yes, Vivi; Alfonso died. He was a military officer and he died in the line of duty. Manuel (the hero) was nearby but could not save him (He was a doctor). Mathilde's mother objected to him because he didn't come from money.

Re confianzuda, my dictionary says "overfamiliar," which I think fits this context better than pushy/forward.
Really bugging me, what is Mayalen doing in this TN? It's gotta be something more important to the plot than a temptation for Pablo.
Jar, thanks! Love your style.
Fatima, please don't go!
Clara

Some odds and ends: I'm upset about the bulls. I don't like that kind of thing happening in the light fictions I watch for entertainment.

Mariano did not have to volunteer the information about his love for Camila. Given that there's never been a relationship between them, it's more than a little presumptuous for him to go around telling acquaintances about his love.

I liked Camila going down on her knees and kissing Mariano's hands in gratitude. It was such a Camila kind of gesture. I can imagine a similar old-time movie star (Katherine Hepburn perhaps?) doing exactly the same thing at such a point.

UtahDesert- I agree with you about Camila's gesture. It was so Camila-- pure, honest emotion and gut feeling, no pretense.

As for the bulls—it is terrible. But, better the bulls than for our villains to kill any more people off. I want everyone to survive till the end, except for the villains.

Several thoughts on the tempo and the amount of show time left:
They really seem to be speeding things up in this episode. Things such as Miriam and Agata being tested would have been shown in earlier episodes. Think of various near pointless scenes with Abraham evading Dante and Teresa in Chile, and now they don't show us what could have been a dramatic and significant scene of Abraham taking his medicine and turning himself in for abuse of his authority?

This seems to be a tendency in TNs, to speed up at the end, and I have to wonder why they do this. Surely experienced writers and producers can plan out the story line so this doesn't happen?

And it makes me worry that they might rush some of the things we'd really like to see at the end. (This was a problem with Un Refugio para el Amor, wasn't it?)

I'm having trouble with predicting the endings for various characters as well. Pablo and Luzma absolutely have to have a happy ending as well, and I cannot allow myself to consider any other possibility. But the others?

Presumably Natalia will either resign herself to single motherhood or instantly fall in love with Rodolfo. Yago will dump her the moment Dionisio is dead/in jail.

Ileana doesn't seem to have enough time left to become a co-conspirator with Isadora. I really would like to see her story wrapped up in some satisfying way--she gets her just desserts or she learns something and changes.

But Miriam and Mariano and Dante and Teresa? I really can't see any of them developing relationships with each other in the short time that remains. Maybe we might see them coupled up in the last episode's "five years later" scene, but that again is such a cop-out.

I really want Agustina to survive and find happiness in playing grandmother to Dan&Cam's kids--it would make such a nice final scene. But I also want the retirement fund story wrapped up rather than left hanging.

And Rafa and Viviana? They seem to be at a dead end right now. They might work things out (but will it be convincing?); I'm not sure what the alternative would be.

But definitely Viviana has to adopt Roman. You don't write him into the plot in order to leave something like that hanging. But will he ever remember hearing Cami's kidnapper talking to Isadora?

And the Mayalen mystery? Can she please be given some motivation, whether it's that she's secretly working for Dionisio or that she's had a crush on Pablo since grade school?

Dionisio will have to die, melodramatically and horribly, but before he's put in the ground Isadora will have to declare her love for him. Either she's going to do it while he's still living, and be scornfully rebuffed, or she'll have to throw herself on his dead body.

Will Cayetano make it to the end of the TN? I think it could go either way. If he dies there will still be a scene where he realizes what Isadora has done and he lies there helplessly.

So many loose ends, so little time.

UtahDesert- With almost 30 episodes to go (not even ultimas semanas announcement yet), there is plenty of time to wrap things up. TNs usually wrap everything up in the last 10 episodes (2 weeks), so the fact that things are speeding up now is a good sign, I think.

I couldn't imagine Iza throwing herself over Dio's comatose carcass.
Anyone that is no longer useful to her, forget about it.

UtahDesert,

"And Rafa and Viviana?"

Every so often I have expressed my doubts about their viability as a couple. I think that Vivi loves Aarón even though she certainly seems to enjoy Rafa's company.

I think that Rafa simply dislikes Román.

OK, maybe he just doesn't like the idea of adopting an older child or maybe he doesn't like the idea of committing to adopting a child while not being married...

and maybe Vivi's aversion is to marriage in general because of her previous bad experience with marriage and not just marriage to Rafa...

anyway I have one word for this couple:

Next!

Carlos

Muchas gracias for a fabulous recap, Jardinera.

So much has been said, and I'm in the middle of a work deadline, but just want to say that what's going on between Rafa and Viviana does not seem that unusual to me. It's all pretty new for both of them, and of course, they're not going to agree on everything. I think they are in love with each, and I do not think Rafa dislikes Roman. I just think Vivi's reaction to his marriage proposal threw him off so he doesn't know what to think at this point. I hope they work it out.

Something tells me Rafa is a bit more conventional than Vivi and seems to want to put the cart before the horse with any sort of kids option in this relationship. He told her it wasn't fair or wise to discuss kids/adoption when their relationship was so rocky. i.e., I kid deserved a stable home if he/she is going to be adopted into one. A home without a papi is never the first choice and they need time to become a solid twosome before having their space invaded by some pre-adolescent #3 which I believe he also made clear to her. Kids are difficult enough proposition when they're your own and raised from birth, let alone taking on the responsibility of a half-grown child who's been reared--or no-- quite possibly 180 degrees out of sync with your world view/manner of approach/moral principles towards life.

Re Vivi and Rafa: I like them both, and I think Vivi would be a fine mother for Roman, but I find myself more in accord with Rafa's point of view. I mean, if I were becoming serious about a guy and he suddenly announced that he planned soon to adopt an 11-year-old child, I'd be very confused and uncomfortable. After all, we were just getting to know each other well, which takes time and patience. Suddenly introducing an 11-year-old child into the mix--and without even asking me how I felt about this--would surely make me hesitate big time about continuing the relationship. I might eventually decide to continue, but not before we'd had some long talks and better understanding of each other than we apparently had at present.

I agree with everything you said, Jardinera, but Roman is a child who needs a home, and yes, most people feel adopting an older child is not an easy task. For that reason, I totally understand Vivi's desire to adopt him and give him a better life. To me, it shows her beautiful heart, and if Rafa can't accept it in time, then I would say they're not right for each other. If Vivi gives up on adopting Roman because of Rafa, I will be very disappointed. To me, this means that one is more concerned about what is perfect for them rather than someone who is dearly in need of a home.

UA, you could only think of 2 (3 actually) reasons why Mariano and Miriam would not make a good couple. You said:
1. He still loves Camila
2. He's a rancher and Miriam is a city woman.
And what about the religious issue? Who would convert in that pairing up?

I can think of a couple more:
1. Miriam still loves Dan
2. Ana is what a lot of young people would consider "baggage". She will have huge input into who Mariano hooks up with. Can Mirian pass Ana's test?
3. Miriam is a new mother, can she get used to an outspoken 11 year old?
4. Will Ana like Agatha if she perceives she's no longer her father's baby.

In other words, I think we have to factor in Ana's voice in the matter when we think of who Mariano will end up with.

I am guessing that Mayalen is in the story to be Yago's downfall. Maybe Natalia will catch him making a pass at Mayalen. The sooner the better. I really hope we don't have to watch a Natalia-Yago wedding.

What Jardinera said. Plus Rafa has more common sense than Vivi.

I like these two, but I don't know if they are meant to be together forever. They both seem to be rushing too much, and pushing their own agendas too much.

I think they should just enjoy each other for a little while and then part ways in a friendly manner and move onto someone who is more compatible.

Well, I'll just agree to disagree. I do not feel Rafa has more common sense than Vivi. In addition, Vivi talked to the Padre about adopting Roman before Rafa proposed to her. As a single woman who was just starting a relationship with Rafa, she has every right, imo, to explore adopting Roman. I don't see where Vivi has exhibited any less common sense than Rafa. Where was his common sense in expecting that she would be eager to get married when her first marriage so was horrific? Don't get me wrong, please. I adore Rafa. He's my favorite guy on the show. What I don't like is these men, i.e. Padre, Rafa, et cetera, telling her she's a fault.

I would kind of like to see Roman being Vivi's priority. I think she should put the brakes on her relationship with Rafa--the decision to have him move in the moment she chose between him and Aaron was pushing it--and work on adopting Roman as a single parent. Then Rafa or anyone else she might get involved with in the future knows what they're getting into.

As for the "ideal" situation for Roman, personally I hate that kind of thinking. And given that Father Anselmo has already said something about the unlikelihood of Roman being adopted as his age, I think he might agree. (Even if Mariano and a new bride might consider adopting Roman, I think he's better off with one parent who obviously loves and wants him for himself, rather than two parents adopting to make their (step)daughter happy.)

Jardinera, hours ago when I commented I forgot to say thanks for providing (as usual) excellent week-end entertainment. I had to run out after commenting and just got back and decided to catch up on the comments and discovered that I was so anxious for Isa not to get busted(yet)until I forgot my manners :-) I can't imagine 30 chapters without her deadly sweetness. This is the first time I've seen her in anything and I can't wait to see her in another Tn.
Dio is the one I'd like to see go. But he has too many irons in the fire and still adding. So, I'm afraid that he's going to be around for awhile.

Marta, I feel Rafa has more common sense in this one area, but not in general. I like him, but he is so nervous, it would drive me bonkers in real life. Also, I do think he rushed the proposal, and I have never cared for the big, showy, surprise proposals. They often seem to me to be an ego trip for the guy and to put pressure on the woman to accept. Marriage is a serious decision. I would rather see a low-keyed proposal with plenty of opportunity for real communication than what Rafa did.

In general Vivi has common sense, but wanting to adopt Roman when she and Rafa haven't settled their relationship doesn't seem sensible to me. I think Vivi needs to do one thing at a time, but to me it doesn't matter whether it's shore up the relationship with Rafa or adopt Roman. Maybe adopting him as a single mom would be the best solution for her. If she wants both, she needs to communicate better with Rafa and for him to also very enthusiastic about the adoption, and so far neither of those things is happening.

We're stuck with El Diablo until the last episode. Cesar Evora's villain track record is that he will die very publicly and perhaps horribly. One of his villains was shot to death by a woman he had taken advantage of.

However, we will have a weekend discussion in a couple of weeks on this subject.

Anon, I don't think that Miriam would see Ana as baggage. Considering that she has no family left in Chile except Abe she might actually like the idea of being a stepmother to a girl that age. Of course if Ana is determined to be a brat, that's another matter.

Carlos, I don't think Aaron has what Vivi wants. He's been very brotherly to her and he's not alpha enough. They may have similar principles on the subject of humanitarianism but that doesn't make the earth move. Rafael and his creativity are what she needs; they complement each other well. However, he's right about not bringing Roman into their relationship until they sort things out. I don't think he dislikes the kid, but he needs to be on more solid ground with Vivi first.

One of the ironies about people who are good talkers and writers is that talking about their own emotions is as difficult for them as it is for the rank and file. It might even be harder because they back of off almost anything that disrupts their otherwise reliable eloquence.

I feel Rafa would like to spend time with Vivi alone before taking on the responsibility of a child. Sounds reasonable to me. He will chg his mind after a short time.

I don't think Pablo is going to cave to Mayelen. Luzma will probably see Mayelen being confianzuda with Pablo & come to the wrong conclusion. But everything will be straightened out. I have so much faith in Pablo{pls don't disappoint }

Yago is a gilipollas but he hasn't done enough to be offed, just taken down several pegs.

I hope Dante ends up with Miriam. They'd make a great couple. Hopefully when Miriam finds out the truth, she'll consider giving Daniel a divorce so he can be happy with Camila (if he gets cured, hopefully he wont die). I like the idea of Mariano with Teresa.

I too think Rafa will change his mind about Roman in time. Everything between them has happened very quickly. I believe Rafa and Vivi are good for each other, and I don't think she has any amorous feeling for Aaron.

I agree, Carolina, that big, showy proposals are a bit much. I prefer the more intimate, personal kind, such as a lovely dinner or perhaps a nighttime picnic at the beach.....

Sorry, guys. Having trouble opening up the HPLP at home. Will post tomorrow. This seems to be a reoccurring problem so from here on out if you don't see the list by Sunday evening, expect it Monday AM/early afternoon.

Nanette

Is there really going to be 166 episodes? I once read that 220 were planned to be produced.

Anon 6:24- Yes. 166. You might have read something that counted the episodes as they aired in Mexico, as the first few weeks were only 1/2 an hour.

Aaron may be one all-along galan at the end of this. Which is fine. He really seems more the priestly type but without all the Catholicism. And he's sure not going to find someone in his new prison literacy job!

Carolina: Since they haven't been able to get the vaccine yet, a drink memorial per cow may be a bit much. Maybe just one big gulp of tequila for all the lost lives, may they forever swish their tails in el cielo de toros.

Kelly

Anon 6:24- I just looked and saw that the count in Mexico was 166. I think our recappers must have adjusted their episode count during the first week to keep the numbering the same as Mexico (the first 2 weeks were half an hour). Not sure where the 220 count came from, but I'm glad they didn't go that long!

UA,

"I don't think Aaron has what Vivi wants...he's not alpha enough."

Don't forget that it was Aarón who clarified for Vivi that Rafa is what she wants. I see Aarón as something of a super-alpha who doesn't see the need to compete.

I'm guessing that he knows that Vivi is meant for him and since she expressed to him her confliction (I know...not a word) he wanted her to have the Rafa experience so that when she becomes clear about her true feelings for Aarón there will be no doubt.

You're welcome.

Carlos

Vivi, I was the one who did that. I covered both Monday and Wednesday the first week and thought it would be helpful to keep the Mexican numbers for practical reasons.

We're in for a roller coaster week again, which is how I like them. Don't anybody miss anything!

Carlos, re; Aaron

"doesn't see the need to compete"
I agree.

"something of a super-alpha"
uummm, maybe. He was pretty impressive with Dionisio when the need arose.

"he wanted her to have the Rafa experience so that when she becomes clear about her true feelings for Aarón there will be no doubt."
OK, if you say so. :)

Another reason why you're fabulous Urban! So really, this tn is 161 episodes long.

I think the finale was two hours in Mexico. If there are no pre-emptions between now and the end the finale will be on Thursday, April 11th (with a two-hour finale) or Friday the 12th (if the final two hours are separate).

Thanks Jar for the excellent recap.

Who would want to visit a tourist area that recently had an outbreak of a highly contagious virus? I’d think people would stay away from there for quite awhile.

Chris: “Nessum Dorma” is my favorite piece of classical music.

Carlos: I’m with you re: Vivi and Aaron.

Thought Piedad was wearing more makeup. For Hipolito?

OT: I assume there will be a team of Caray recappers recapping FC’s new one.

Fatima. Please don’t deprive the group of your great comments.

Nanette

Carlos--I think you are writing the post-production, after el FIN epilogue that segues into the sequel where Vivi and Aaron finally declare their true feelings and give each other dope slaps for waiting until the telenoveala is over and nobody is watching to be together.

Maybe you could be roped into writing a Sequel?

Off to see Parsifal in NYC, folks. Now that is a hard to believe make-believe. Be back in the land of *real* make-believe on Thursday.

No, no, Fatima, don't go.

We love your contributions. I got slapped on the wrist a long, long time ago and it's all forgotten (like I can't even remember what I said to deserve it).

I don't think there will be a Aaron and Vivi connection. That would hurt Rafa too much and neither would want to do that. I really like the Aaron character. It would be nice if he meets someone and has a relationship, I don't see him as asexual or married to the church, I just see him as not having met the right woman yet.

Isa mentioned the need to kill off Cayetano before her 6 months is up. We know she likes potassium overdoses, but if she ends up in jail when she arrives home, that will be a little difficult to do from there.

Barbara,

"'...super-alpha'
uummm, maybe. He was pretty impressive with Dionisio when the need arose."

This guy has been Yoda from the very first.

Nanette,

"I’m with you re: Vivi and Aaron."

And I appreciate your wry humor.

Anita,

"...I think you are writing the post-production..."

Only if necessary.

Carlos

I'm still not seeing Vivi and Aaron. It's way too platonic on both sides for me. I guess we'll have to wait and see....jeje.

Marta,

"I'm still not seeing Vivi and Aaron. It's way too platonic on both sides for me."

But don't you enjoy surprises?

And a lot more fun to think about than:

DEAD CATTLE...seventy-two and climbing!

Carlos

Carlos -

Yes, I love surprises! I wouldn't be sad if Aaron and Vivi hooked up...just not seeing it yet.

So true it's a lot more fun than talk about dead bulls and the endless idiocy of those characters whose names I will not now mention:)

Marta

Marta, yes, a low key night time picnic at the beach proposal would be lovely. Just don’t drop the diamond in the sand in the dark!

Kelly, you think big. I like that. However, a toast per beast would be a bit taxing on our livers. :)

I really, really loved Angry Aaron, when he went all alpha crazy, yelling at Dio and FX and that one time at Bruno. Serene Aaron? Gets a bit tiresome. I’m not seeing him with Vivi. If that was going to happen, it would have by now. I don’t think he would ever hurt his brother like that, anyhow.

I think that we all agree that the miracle vaccine will come from Chile, but who will it be that actually transports it?

Mariano?
Dante?
Rafa?
Miriam?
Teresa?
Abraham(maybe he can get released)?
Dionysio?
FedEx?
UPS?

Carlos

Detective Gaston -- Abe is in jail; too much time lost by having BV, LMQ or Miriam travel to Chile and back.

If they are stupid enough to let Dionysio anywhere near that miracle vaccine, they deserve whatever happens.

Ditto to that, Carolina.

Sorry I'm so late in posting the HPLP list. I have another project I was working on and forgot. My bad.

Cam has to hear Miriam tell Dan he’s the love of her life and she’d die without him (and Viewerville hoped that Dan chose that moment to repeat what he said in his delirium earlier).
Cam has to endure Miriam’s gratitude for helping Dan.
Iago (need I say more?)
Nat (see above).
NG makes a move on Pablo.
Useless Ileana strikes again (why is she still around?!)

Fatima, I also got discouraged once because I said Jorge Salinas didn't look so hot in a certain episode, and then many took it as an all around condemnation of him (from me, someone who has querer'ed him since 1996!). But I couldn't stay away from the recaps and I eventually started commenting again, and understood that nobody was out to get me. I came to admire everybody for putting their two cents in, because if nobody took the risk we wouldn't have such as awesome blog! And I wanted to contribute to that dynamic, too, so I didn't stay in lurkdom. So just try to blow it off if you can. Give it a few days if you must, but then come back :)

Thanks for the list Nanette! I would actually put Ana being rude to Teresa on the HP List, since I felt like Teresa deserved a taste of her own medicine. I hope Teresa learns a lesson from Ana apologizing to her and does the same to Camila.

Fatima- It was actually those of us who pasted text from GV's site who got scolded, not those of you who asked what had been said in that scene.

We all cross the line of what's allowable/acceptable/preferred by the recappers and/or our fellow Caraymates sometimes, but that shouldn’t stop us from continuing to comment. And this instance especially shouldn’t prevent you from commenting because you didn't get in trouble for anything. Variopinta and I did. Rebels that we are! ;-) LOL!

Nanette -- Here are what stood out from your list for me.
Pretty darned low lows:
Miriam wants Dan to make love to her.

Going out on a limb here and say that Dan and Miriam did make love.

Omar and fellow henchman poison poor defenseless animals and have pi$$ed me off royally. B*****DS!!

Pretty good highs:
Miriam hears a crucial bit of the truth.

Agustina finally sees that Cam and Dan love each other and that’s it’s up to them to decide what they are going to do about their situation.

AGUSTINA JOINS THE SCOOBIES! (though I’m not sure she realizes it yet).

Thanks again, gang for stopping in and posting such really interesting comments! Always fun! It's going to be a rip-roaring last few weeks now. I am hoping/expecting the "ultimas semanas" will appear on screen tonight.

Thank you, Nanette, for your highs and lows. Well worth the wait! Love so many of them, but my favorite is Augustina joins the Scoobies (although she may not realize it)...I'm paraphrasing. I worry about her, though. She's not exactly calm in scary situations.

Vivi: I knew my putting Ana's bratty behavior to Teresa in the low points list would be controversial, especially after reading other people's comments on it. I did think about moving it; however, the reason I put it on the low points list in the first place was for Ana's behavior. She's a child and she was rude to an adult. I'm probably also a little biased. I don't see Teresa's behavior to Cam as being all that wrong. I'm in the minority here, I think. I considered moving it to the other list, but just couldn't bring myself to do it :)

We're a passionate bunch and I think it's understandable when sometimes we let our enthusiasm run away with us. That's when we start posting things that might not be all that kosher. Witness my overstepping with the DA convo we had a few weeks ago.

Thanks for your list Nanette. I enjoyed your comments about Dio's ego preparing him for a very big fall. It can't happen soon enough.

Nanette- I understand why it's on the LP list, and I think many here would actually agree with you. I think I was in the minority with being annoyed by Teresa's convo with Camila, and when Ana told her to back off Mariano in exactly the same snotty tone Teresa used with Cami, I clapped. :) Both of them had valid reasons for why they did/said what they did, but they both did it in a very rude way, and I wanted Teresa to learn her lesson by being on the other end of it. Does that make sense? In any case, I was also VERY happy to see Mariano put Ana in her place and making her apologize.

Vivi: I think this was one of those instances where it could have been put on both lists.

"I wanted Teresa to learn her lesson by being on the other end of it"--I hope that frank discussion that Ana and Teresa had will do the trick. However, Ana has yet to drop the little "I want Cam as a mother" bombshell.

It gets my hackles up when a kid talks snotty or bratty to an adult. If my daughter talked to a grown up the way Ana did, I would have a very serious talk with her about it. I would not tolerate it at all.

I'm with you on that Ana/Teresa situation, Cathyx. Ana, imo, has no right to judge Teresa, and given her age, I feel it's really inappropriate.

I don't have anything to say about Ana's behavior because she is a child and they all will act that way from time to time, to test the boundaries if for no other reason. What matters to me is the response of the adults to the situation. I thought Mariano handled it perfectly and I kinda liked seeing him get a little hot under the collar. That doesn't happen often. I also thought Teresa also did very well with the apology conversation even though she doesn't seen very comfortable around kids. I hope Ana learned to be more polite and less judgmental. Maybe the incident will even lead to a better relationship between those two.

Good point, Carolina!

Be more polite and less judgmental. Yep. Wise words for Ana and Teresa.
