Amor Bravío #137 (Uni 132) Fri 3/1/13 More Curation Frenzy and Frustration As Dio The Bull Butcherer’s Bombast Bungles The Play
~~End Parte 1~~
[What an emotional roller coaster the past two or three episodios have been!! Whoopee!! ]
~~ Parte 2 ~~
Leoncio finally has learned enough to read or recognize Issa's name when he sees it and to point out the letters "m, a, t, and o" to Aaron. With a bit of charades action he manages to make Aaron understand that Isadora was the one who offed Padre Baldomero.

That scene happened so quickly and was like a curve ball out of nowhere. Some continuity issues there for sure. At any rate, that is what I got out of CONTEXT and was unable to hear the mumbled conversation very well.
I'm sure Vivi in DC will straighten me out. Right, Vivi (insert "wink" emoticon here)?
Fatima
Netgirl - Mariano and Miriam were so good together. Rene S. played every one of his scenes with Miriam to perfection. He's a talented actor and has often scene wasted in the role of the "segundo plato", a role he has had so many times in past novelas.
So much going on and so many possibilities for resolution. I'm really like Hipolito. The guy is perceptive and wise.
Although I feel sorry for everyone involved in this deceit, I was especially feeling sorry for Miriam today. But I think that her overhearing the conversation was the best way for her to learn of what is happening. Now the details will slowly come to her and she can digest them at a more acceptable pace, as opposed to all at once.
The avances looked so promising. And for those who are weary of the bad guys getting such a leg up, you will be heartened.
He brought Miriam to Mexico when he found out Dan was alive and well; at his return back to Chili, he was arrested and jailed because of his abuse power and fraud. We were never shown him being arrested, hence the discrepancy.
Fatima, you didn’t miss anything; your take on his conversation with his former assistant/friend Detective Gaston is correct. Gaston is now covering for him by not letting Miriam know that he’s currently in jail – one more thing they’re hiding from Miriam --

When that scene first started, I did a double take and asked myself...who is really behind bars, here!
What's funny (for me only, I'm sure) is that for the past 3 episodes with so much bad stuff going down, I kept wondering "where is that jerk Abe who is responsible for a good portion of this?" Lo and behold...there he was!
Fatima

Compared to that, I'm not going to feel quite as special when I'm at our local company's Turandot in a couple weeks.
Hope you enjoyed.

Netgirl- I liked the interaction between Mariano and Miriam too, but I need to see more of them together to decide if I see them as a couple. Certainly, they both were VERY affected by seeing how much Camila cares for Daniel.
Can't wait for your recap, Jard. But don't rush. Yours is worth waiting for.
Ann-NYC
To more serious issues, the jail time shows that Abraham is paying his dues and has atoned for his deception. This is definitely good for his relationship with Miriam. I assume that the Scoobies will do something to help advance his freedom.
I loved the scene of Leo and Aaron in the jailhouse school room, with Leo struggling to tell his story. I was rooting for Aaron to get it, and then had to laugh at myself. The whole set-up is so ridiculous, but well worth the beanie tightening if in the end Isadora gets hers.
And, speaking of the she-devil, Isadora apparently does miss and harbor feelings for Dionisio.
I do love to see them foiled and look forward with glee to Monday night!
My favorite scene of the night, however, was when that non-diplomat Fr. Anselmo took the coffee-table figurine out of Iago's hands to force him to concentrate on why he had changed his mind about marrying Natalia. Iago has gone from bad to worse and however cloying and naive she may be, Natalia doesn't deserve him.
So New Girl finally makes her move and offers her married, cute boss a neck massage. Good of Panlo for recognizing how inappropriate that was and shame on New Girl for betraying Luzma, especially after what she's been through. The way Myella looks at Pablo with those huge eyes is a little psycho if you ask me. I could see her becoming obsessed and doing something crazy!
I love me an Isadora karmageddon scene. Can't wait til Monday!!! Between Amanda's neighbors testimony, Leo and his flash cards and the new evidence the padre was strangled, her honeymoon is officially over!!!
And PS: Dio talks about Camila non stop! How is Isa so dumb to think she will ride off into the sunset with him?!
Katy
Ann--NYC--It's nice to think about Mariano and Miriam together, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Miriam doesn't think she has lost at love yet. She is aware that something about Dan is very different now, but will probably attribute it to all the stuff he went through that she's just finding out about. She sees the connection between Cam 'n Dan. I think Mariano did a beautiful job of explaining it, although it hurt him to be only partially truthful about his own hopes with Cam, while hiding Cam 'n Dan's truth.
Vivi--You nailed it in fewer words than I did, >>Certainly, they both were VERY affected by seeing how much Camila cares for Daniel.<<
Marta--Rafa and Vivi not only have some soul searching before they can find true happiness; they have to learn to communicate with each other frankly. Lots of couples weather storms like theirs, so we have two high-spirited people who want to be together--I'm voting they'll be together at the end. But--where will Roman be? Too bad they didn't choose a more "high-spirited" kid for them.
I was surprised to see Abe in jail already, too. I guess the producers wanted this thing to end at 166 and had to cut out more explanatory stuff. Or, they figured we wouldn't be interested in seeing how he got there with all the "viri" contagion going on at LMQ and Hissy and Caye's "ruined" honeymoon and whether Luz and Pablo are finally going to get their noche de boda.
I'm also a little annoyed by how we are "exposed" to the avances. We saw Cam giving Dan CPR in the avances for last night, but it didn't happen. That or some cliff hanger they've shown us comes in the last 2 minutes and we've been waiting for 60-14 minutes for it.
TL--Thanks for reminding me of Pd. Anselmo's intervention. It was so obvious that Iago had absolutely no interest in the proceedings and was letting motor-mouth Natalia do all the talking! And also the Leo-Aaron. Twenty-questions anyone? Good lord, they could have gotten that out of him a long time ago--he could always nod or shake his head. OTOH, the officials probably wouldn't have trusted his answers before this or that he was willing to cooperate.
On with the Show!
Loved Part 1. I especially enjoyed the line about Rafa poo pooing hope. LOL! He really shot down Aaron's hope and sunshine routine. On the positive side, he agreed with Vivi! Those two have been so at odds theses days, that it's a positive even when they agree on something negative. :)
I think one thing that is interesting about M&M connection is how it counterbalances that of Dante & Teresa. M&M would both like Dan & Miriam to stay together; Mariano so Camila is unattached (plus I think that he doesn’t respect Dan very much, apart from their romantic rivalry) and obviously Miriam wants to stay with Dan. OTOH, Dante and Teresa both want Dan and Miriam to break up, so each could take off with the separated pieces. (Although to be fair, Dante has been a good friend to both Dan and Miriam and has helped them stay together because he thinks that will make Miriam happy.) So much is swirling around this six-part stew pot, gotta love it!
TL, I loved it when Padre Anselmo took that figurine away from Yago, too. It was like something he’d do to a small child, which is an appropriate way to treat him, I suppose.
Interesting how we saw more confirmation that Isa has a real romantic interest in Dio. We had seen a hint or two of that before, but now this. She isn’t really capable of love, is she? Is Dio? Is anyone capable of loving anyone as purely evil as either of them?
Katy, LOL about Isa’s honeymoon being over! I can’t wait for her to get what’s coming. It will not be pretty.
When Dionysio first hatched this horrible plan my first thought was how many cows are we talking about here? Imagine the clean up...it boggles the mind.
I was stunned to see Piedad standing there. Wow, that really has the potential to move things along.
Carlos
Loved the Mariano-Miriam scenes. Nice to see Mariano continue his truth-telling, although (unlike the padre) his truth sledgehammer is made of nerf. Honest, but not so much that she flips out and her brain explodes. They'd be a good couple, all kinds of sweetness and light.
And good for Piedad for at least telling Hipo. Wish she felt comfortable enough telling Mariano. Without Daniel, he's protector #1 even he does have an amazing amount of crap going on now.
Kelly
"There has been nothing quite as horrendous or as devastating as the sight of motionless mounds of beautiful black bull beasties’ bodies scattered in throughout the pastures of La Malquerida
" Indeed.
And, "that smug schmo of a Big Bro" plus "his ever-present, pained lad of 40-something lovelorn look". You win the prize for most apt characterizations using the most creative language. Ever. Looking forward to Parte Dos
Good point Jardinera & Vivi about going to Gato's site on our own. In the end, it's less distracting from the give & take of regular comments
I, for one, have arrived at the cocktail hour out here in east-coastlandia and am relaxing with all the comments thus far.
(Listening to Wagner's Parsifal on the radio this afternoon, just heard the curtain go down at the Met, so UA is probably hiking back to her apartment and we will hear from her soon).
Carolina: "So much is swirling around this six-part stew pot, gotta love it!"
Kelly: Mariano's "truth sledgehammer is made of nerf"
—Agnes
Loved the scene with Padre and Pogostick Yago. I can't believe they'll marry in the end so it'll be interesting what/how/who breaks them up. And when is Bratgirl leaving already?
==========
Carlos/AgnesNY: I have to say that it takes quite a bit to make me clutch the ol' estomago and fight back the lagrimas, but seeing the fields full of those poor dead animals--aside from being a waste of some damn tasty victuals--the image on the screen was totally mind-numbing. I suddenly saw what Camila must have been seeing (multitudinous kudos to the special fx and camera team) and the slaughter was so suffocatingly real.
Gotta get started on Parte Dos. But was anyone else puzzled by why on earth Piedad was standing at the door of the LMQ office when she was supposed to be rushing the ice to the cabana? Hmmmmm. Plot device, no doubt. Dio should have recognized it as such.
My favorite part of the avances is when Aggie tells Dio that the ranch is saved, as well as Dan, because the vacunas have been found ... or whatever it is she said. Loved the look on his mean nasty, albeit handsome, face.
"They’ll wait till Daniel gets well, and then she’ll tell him."
¿Que? Why not just wait until the Holy Virgin appears on the patio?
Let's hope that Miriam's connections in Chile are reliable.
The scene with Aarón and Leoncio was hilarious...was it meant to be?
Carlos
On another subject, that is one big oyster in your picture!
Though I fully expect that this telenovela will end with a(nother) boda for Camila and Daniel and some kind of appropriate karmageddon for Hissa and Dio, I'm finding it hard to predict what will happen to a number of other characters. Iago for one. I somehow can't believe that he'll actually marry Natalia--at least, I hope not. Will he live to the end of the TN? Be gored by one of the few remaining bulls? And why is Iliana still in the TN? I keep thinking that she must have an important role yet to play, but I can't imagine what it is. Ditto for Not-So-New Girl. I wonder too whether there's any ominous significance to Miriam's almost fainting in Friday's episodio. And speaking of ominous significance, I can't forget Dio's ominous thoughts about Agustina. I keep fearing that she won't make it to the end of the TN. Indeed, there seems no place for her after all is resolved.
My very cloudy crystal ball is of no use whatsoever.
Just to get this out of the way, Parsifal was fabulous in HD. I saw it live two weeks ago on its opening night and this is a different type of experience. There are more subtitles to read than usual with Wagner because of the nature of his libretti; it's sometimes almost better to see a relatively unfamiliar work in the movie theatre where the subtitles are easier to read and not as much of a distraction from watching the stage.
However, hearing the music live is mandatory for its full effect. The opening music was used in the grail scenes of John Boorman's Excalibur; other music by Wagner is also in this film. Here is the opening as conducted by Sir Georg Solti.
The music is glorious and the acting was excellent by the five principals; it's hard to believe that Jonas Kaufmann has only done one previous production of this and seven years ago! He is perfect in this role as the young innocent who resists temptation on the road to not only his own redemption but that of others.
The others all were great in their roles; I won't belabor this for those who aren't into opera (or Wagner, for that matter). This will be on PBS sometime in the next TV season; I'll post a link to the schedule when it's online.
The last time I saw a febrile protagonista all laid out like Manet's dead Christ was Fernando Colunga in Alborada. They weren't using ice packs on him. They picked up the corners of the sheet and dumped him into a tina filled with ice water. None of these dinky ice packs for our hero. No wonder Cami can't get the fever down.
LoriLoo, I love the idea that some of us are listening to the same thing on opposite coasts! —Agnes
Thanks for the recap and sorry for asking for a translation of why Abraham was in jail. Impatience is one of my vices.
I'm glad that Ileana is still around so that she was able to tell Rodolfo about Yago being bribed. Can't wait for the fallout from that.
I, too, was surprised by Isa mentioning that she actually had a thing for Dion. She has mentioned in the past about never falling for anyone, so I was surprised about that.
I wonder what will happen with Leo's confession about Isa cutting his tongue. Aaron mentioned calling Juarez about writing a statement.
Dion being overheard. Finally.
I'm more convinced than ever that Nat and Yago will not marry.
I am so happy Piedad told Hipolito about Dio. But why they decided to wait until Dan gets better is beyond me.
Carlos - LOL, on "¿Que? Why not just wait until the Holy Virgin appears on the patio?" And I don't think the Leo/Aaron scene was supposed to be serious though I laughed as well.
Padre was hilarious dealing w/infant Iago.
Someone mentioned the possibility of Cam shooting Dio b/c of the bulls and/or self-defense. I like this idea especially in light of Dio's smug looks.
On one level it would be better for Nat to not marry Iagho. But she (or her baby) will inherit his share of La Buenaventura after El Diablo gives him that cement overcoat.
As to Hissadora's feelings for El Diablo, I'm sure they'd stop as soon as he cheated on her for real and she'd be ready to channel Lorena Bobbitt right after blowing away the competition.
Probably best for me to just move on and forget posting here as I don't seem to catch on to your rules very quickly. Nothing was written with intent to interfere with the work of the recapper.
Anyway...thanks again and will enjoy reading your posts from afar.
Fatima
"Ana and her new SIL are discussing said Dr. Phil fodder". Wouldn't Luzma be Ana's aunt instead of her sister in law?
“(Yeah, Cam, we understand things are dire, but do you really have to kiss his hands and grovel at his feet to make the point?) Mar stares at her, apparently as uncomfortable with this kind of response from his heart throb as we are, and asks her not to be this way.” Oh, yes he did, didn’t he? Camila, hon, your mom is right. Go take a shower and freshen up a bit. You’ll feel a lot better.
“Just then Mir rushes inside. (Knocking first? Ringing the doorbell? Who wastes their time doing that? Telenovela rules specify that in times of trouble, anguished parties may barge inside anywhere they please and at any time.)” Someday, I would like to be in the midst of a TN emergency just to invoke this privilege.
Losing a spouse? “Mar’s been there, done that and got the darned teeshirt.” So quit yer gawl derned whining about things that haven’t even happened to people that you don’t even know, mkay, Missy Prissy?
Kelly said: “60??? Lots of cows, gone before their time. Should we have some kind of memorial?” We could *salud* every time a new body count comes in. Is that what you have in mind? :)
Mariano does indeed have a nerf sledgehammer, lol. And Piedad? She needs to rummage through her toolbox and make sure she even HAS a sledgehammer of truth. I think she may have misplaced it. It’s a good thing that Hippopotamus (or whatever) keeps his handy.
Carlos, I think that you and Johnie Walker Black and posting are a terrific combination. :)
Like others, I couldn’t follow the convo between Abe and his colleague very well. I had trouble getting past the impactada of seeing him in jail. As for needing to focus on AB, I copied this little ditty down from somewhere on the intertubes and taped to the TV room door: “Voy a ver mi novela y no quiero nada de rudio.” Now if I could just get everybody to leave me alone while I am trying to read the recap … *muttermuttermutter*
Ok, now I know that I don’t like Miriam (and you probably know that, too) and I might be a teensy bit biased against her, but did it seem to anyone else that her little visit to the unconscious Dan was TOTALLY self-indulgent? What good did that do to step into that room and make that ridiculous speech to a comatose man? It gave her some warm fuzzies and nothing else. Trees died for that paper apron, you know. And little latex bushes gave their blood. Gah. She bugs me, ya think?
I am also having a hard time believing that Nat and Yago will marry. Nat is as dumb as a box of piedras, but she doesn’t deserve THAT.
Fatima, NOOOOOO! Please don’t go away. Nobody was slapping your hand (that I could see). I enjoy your posts.
This episode was an emotional roller coaster, glad it was on a Friday.
You did a splendid job of catching all of the details and with flair.
I can't wait until the Comandante arrests Hissadora at the airport on Monday.
This was a great recap! Thank you! I speak fluent Spanish but I truly enjoy reading these recaps for the witty remarks, observations and perspectives! I really appreaciate all of the contributors work!
Lastly I want to add that I'm a firm supporter of a M&M coupling. I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again. When Mar first met Mir he said something like he could tell Miriam is an enchanting women and I truly believe his words were of the foreshadowing variety. With their interaction in the episode I think the seed is being planted. Mir is going to grow into relying on Mar for emotional support as she starts to realize what's really going on. Kelly loved the "sledge hammer made of nerf" lol ITA with you on M&M's scene :)

Tablet Jefa and Katy (?): Welcome--sorry if I've been remiss in greeting you!
=========
Lily: You've paid those of us who will always remain a member of the rank of student a great compliment! Thanks! (Anyway, this particular recapper at times is just stuck and goes with the gut and guesses! First impressions and whatnot. LOL!)
==========
I also began to wonder if Miriam and Mariano wouldn't end up together and possibly neighbors to DanCam since Dan would then not have to be totally separated from his daughter and prevented from seeing her grow up. IMO Dante has to return to Chile since that's where his job is. Aaron and Tere could hook up with less problem then. I pretty much like the idea of Yucky Yago "buying the farm" both figuratively and literally for Nat once Daddy Dio is done with him. Nat could marry Rodolfo then and he'd enter the landed gentry class as his reward--but he still may be someobdy's heretofore unclaimed illegitimate son. Illy is going to get redeemed somehow IMHO, but I haven't the imagination or foresight to figure out how.
I totally believe that the director and actors played the Leo-Aaron jail scene tongue-in-cheek (pun intended). If there was any doubt, it was made clear to me when Leo used the alphabet chart, and points to a happy, smiling bat (murciélago) to spell the word “matar.” LOL!
Carlos- "¿Que? Why not just wait until the Holy Virgin appears on the patio?" LOL! So true. Well, I guess Piedad and Hipolito don’t want to add yet another problem to Camila’s very full plate right now. Plus, waiting a while might give Piedad the chance to calm down a bit. Maybe.
OK Mayalen. I decided to trust you and like you when you helped Luzma, but now you’re sliding back over to my bad list.
Lily—Confiazuda/too forward is the perfect way to describe Mayalen. Hipolito is right on target in the way he described her, and it’s not just with Pablo. On her first day of work, when Camila was going over stuff with her on the computer, she immediately starts using the familiar “tu” with Camila and Cam pops her head up from the computer a bit surprised. It’s only then that Mayalen apologizes and THEN asks if she can use the familiar with Cam. Cam agrees, but she still looked like she was a bit thrown off by Mayalen just assuming she could do it. I mean, this is her BOSS, on her first day of work, and they’ve only really just met. Doesn’t matter if she helped Luzma out. That doesn’t make them all best friends. Then of course the other day when she volunteered info to Yago without being asked for her opinion or input. That really bugged Camila and she let it be known in the way she dismissed Mayalen from the cabin. It seems this tendency of hers to be too familiar with people will cause some trouble, and perhaps not just with Pablo. I was very proud of Pablo for putting a real quick end to that inappropriate massage.
As for Isa and her “love” for Dio-- she doesn’t know the meaning of the word. But they have been sowing seeds since the beginning of this tn that Isa wants Dio to want her. She wants him to need and desire her, more than she needs or desires him. Isa can’t stand that he married Gussy because he needed her, or that he desires Camila above all other women (including and especially her). If Dio were to suddenly becoming totally devoted to her and started drooling over her, like Cayetano does, she would be amused for a while, but then she’d get bored. She’s becoming obsessed with Dio for the same reason Dio is obsessed with Cam—because she can’t really have him.
I promise to never again post a word for word copy of gato viejo's blog.
I was just so confused about that scene, I had to immediately find out what it was about.
!lo siento!
Mariano and Miriam get my vote. Great chemistry.
Loved the scene with Aaron and Leo and the cute alphabet poster. Wondering who will get to kill Leo, cause surely he won't survive.
Teresa would be a different story if she were his target.
She is laughing at his notion that he can have Camila because she knows better. She herself had previously underestimated Camila's intelligence and sees that he is now doing exactly that.
Thanks to how badly other men have judged hers (her father and later the husband who was 5 years younger than God) this situation amuses her ...for the moment. It will be less amusing later when the last play needs to be made.
or does it????? I am hoping so, but I am getting used to being fooled in this novela -- part of the fun of watching.
1. He still loves Camila
2. He's a rancher and Miriam is a city woman.
And what about the religious issue? Who would convert in that pairing up?
Anybody have any idea how much time Abe has to do?
I also suspect that the clearing of the air that Teresa and Ana had in Friday's episode may pave the way for an eventual match between Mariano and Teresa.
BTW, I was very happy to learn about the word "confiazuda," but I think I should mention that I then looked it up in my dictionary, which says that the word is confianzuda. I mention this only to be helpful, not as a criticism. Indeed, I really appreciate people mentioning this and other Spanish words. Improving my Spanish is my (ostensible) reason for watching telenovelas. :-)
U/A, Paquita, Mena and Kat, thanks for all the hard work this past week. Kat, your "duh, Aaron, that would really suck" line still sticks in my mind as a true LOL moment.
Utah Desert, thanks for the following comment the other day: "Vaccines aren't cures, right? On the other hand, I realize Daniel needs a miracle cure, and it would overcomplicate things to have the good guys searching for both a vaccine and a cure. So I guess I'll cheer in an episode or two when they inject Daniel with a vaccine intended to prevent lifestock from becoming sick with cabrex and not approved for humans and he miraculously recovers." I know we just have to accept this, but hey, the truth just needs to be said and thanks for doing it so well.
Although it was to advance his personal agenda, I had to applaud Dionisio's call to the authorities this week. This was a call I'm sure Camila was obligated to make as soon as she knew the was dealing with the (doesn't-exist-in-real-life) cabrex virus. By not notifying the authorities, she probably put her license to practice in jeopardy. More importantly, she put the health of all the cattle of neighborhood ranches (and the livelihood of the ranchers) at risk. This was so not a Camila-like thing to do.
Mariano really is such a good person that I think I could be OK with Dan fulfilling the role of being inconvenient and dying. Dan could be the guy that tried to help and protect those around him though he never asked for any of this. Dan tried the best he could to do what he could. Bittersweet memories could almost sanctify him. Meanwhile, Camila could be with someone who in is very like her in interests and attitude to life. Miriam would end up with Dante and go back to Chile. If Teresa ended up with anyone, I guess it would have to be Aaron. They're not really that suited as a couple but maybe in this case Aaron could teach the rather tightly wound Teresa to just chill at times. I'm pretty sure Dan is not leaving us, but wanted to mention I could be OK with this scenario now where earlier in the show I definitely wouldn't have been.

Juanita and UA, you brought some excellent cons for an M&M pairing that has got me thinking. I guess I feel like for the sake of the happily ever after ending most TN's go for, these obstacles would be somehow neatly resolved. I would say I'm young but I've grown up watching TN's with my Mexican family and I feel like stranger things have happened :) but we shall see, like you said, Traveling Lady, this novela has fooled us and that's what I love about it!
Whatever happens, I just don't want Miriam to die because that's just too easy. It would make things simpler, but I don't want the writers to go for simple.
For a happily-ever-after for Dan and Cam to work, with Miriam still alive, these three people are going ot have to learn how to get along with and cooperate with each other, because there is a child involved. This is not going to be easy for any of them, but I will be proud of all three (and the writers) if they can make it work in the end.
Really bugging me, what is Mayalen doing in this TN? It's gotta be something more important to the plot than a temptation for Pablo.
Jar, thanks! Love your style.
Fatima, please don't go!
Clara
Mariano did not have to volunteer the information about his love for Camila. Given that there's never been a relationship between them, it's more than a little presumptuous for him to go around telling acquaintances about his love.
I liked Camila going down on her knees and kissing Mariano's hands in gratitude. It was such a Camila kind of gesture. I can imagine a similar old-time movie star (Katherine Hepburn perhaps?) doing exactly the same thing at such a point.
As for the bulls—it is terrible. But, better the bulls than for our villains to kill any more people off. I want everyone to survive till the end, except for the villains.
They really seem to be speeding things up in this episode. Things such as Miriam and Agata being tested would have been shown in earlier episodes. Think of various near pointless scenes with Abraham evading Dante and Teresa in Chile, and now they don't show us what could have been a dramatic and significant scene of Abraham taking his medicine and turning himself in for abuse of his authority?
This seems to be a tendency in TNs, to speed up at the end, and I have to wonder why they do this. Surely experienced writers and producers can plan out the story line so this doesn't happen?
And it makes me worry that they might rush some of the things we'd really like to see at the end. (This was a problem with Un Refugio para el Amor, wasn't it?)
I'm having trouble with predicting the endings for various characters as well. Pablo and Luzma absolutely have to have a happy ending as well, and I cannot allow myself to consider any other possibility. But the others?
Presumably Natalia will either resign herself to single motherhood or instantly fall in love with Rodolfo. Yago will dump her the moment Dionisio is dead/in jail.
Ileana doesn't seem to have enough time left to become a co-conspirator with Isadora. I really would like to see her story wrapped up in some satisfying way--she gets her just desserts or she learns something and changes.
But Miriam and Mariano and Dante and Teresa? I really can't see any of them developing relationships with each other in the short time that remains. Maybe we might see them coupled up in the last episode's "five years later" scene, but that again is such a cop-out.
I really want Agustina to survive and find happiness in playing grandmother to Dan&Cam's kids--it would make such a nice final scene. But I also want the retirement fund story wrapped up rather than left hanging.
And Rafa and Viviana? They seem to be at a dead end right now. They might work things out (but will it be convincing?); I'm not sure what the alternative would be.
But definitely Viviana has to adopt Roman. You don't write him into the plot in order to leave something like that hanging. But will he ever remember hearing Cami's kidnapper talking to Isadora?
And the Mayalen mystery? Can she please be given some motivation, whether it's that she's secretly working for Dionisio or that she's had a crush on Pablo since grade school?
Dionisio will have to die, melodramatically and horribly, but before he's put in the ground Isadora will have to declare her love for him. Either she's going to do it while he's still living, and be scornfully rebuffed, or she'll have to throw herself on his dead body.
Will Cayetano make it to the end of the TN? I think it could go either way. If he dies there will still be a scene where he realizes what Isadora has done and he lies there helplessly.
So many loose ends, so little time.
Anyone that is no longer useful to her, forget about it.
"And Rafa and Viviana?"
Every so often I have expressed my doubts about their viability as a couple. I think that Vivi loves Aarón even though she certainly seems to enjoy Rafa's company.
I think that Rafa simply dislikes Román.
OK, maybe he just doesn't like the idea of adopting an older child or maybe he doesn't like the idea of committing to adopting a child while not being married...
and maybe Vivi's aversion is to marriage in general because of her previous bad experience with marriage and not just marriage to Rafa...
anyway I have one word for this couple:
Next!
Carlos
So much has been said, and I'm in the middle of a work deadline, but just want to say that what's going on between Rafa and Viviana does not seem that unusual to me. It's all pretty new for both of them, and of course, they're not going to agree on everything. I think they are in love with each, and I do not think Rafa dislikes Roman. I just think Vivi's reaction to his marriage proposal threw him off so he doesn't know what to think at this point. I hope they work it out.
1. He still loves Camila
2. He's a rancher and Miriam is a city woman.
And what about the religious issue? Who would convert in that pairing up?
I can think of a couple more:
1. Miriam still loves Dan
2. Ana is what a lot of young people would consider "baggage". She will have huge input into who Mariano hooks up with. Can Mirian pass Ana's test?
3. Miriam is a new mother, can she get used to an outspoken 11 year old?
4. Will Ana like Agatha if she perceives she's no longer her father's baby.
In other words, I think we have to factor in Ana's voice in the matter when we think of who Mariano will end up with.
I like these two, but I don't know if they are meant to be together forever. They both seem to be rushing too much, and pushing their own agendas too much.
I think they should just enjoy each other for a little while and then part ways in a friendly manner and move onto someone who is more compatible.
As for the "ideal" situation for Roman, personally I hate that kind of thinking. And given that Father Anselmo has already said something about the unlikelihood of Roman being adopted as his age, I think he might agree. (Even if Mariano and a new bride might consider adopting Roman, I think he's better off with one parent who obviously loves and wants him for himself, rather than two parents adopting to make their (step)daughter happy.)
Dio is the one I'd like to see go. But he has too many irons in the fire and still adding. So, I'm afraid that he's going to be around for awhile.
In general Vivi has common sense, but wanting to adopt Roman when she and Rafa haven't settled their relationship doesn't seem sensible to me. I think Vivi needs to do one thing at a time, but to me it doesn't matter whether it's shore up the relationship with Rafa or adopt Roman. Maybe adopting him as a single mom would be the best solution for her. If she wants both, she needs to communicate better with Rafa and for him to also very enthusiastic about the adoption, and so far neither of those things is happening.
However, we will have a weekend discussion in a couple of weeks on this subject.
Anon, I don't think that Miriam would see Ana as baggage. Considering that she has no family left in Chile except Abe she might actually like the idea of being a stepmother to a girl that age. Of course if Ana is determined to be a brat, that's another matter.
Carlos, I don't think Aaron has what Vivi wants. He's been very brotherly to her and he's not alpha enough. They may have similar principles on the subject of humanitarianism but that doesn't make the earth move. Rafael and his creativity are what she needs; they complement each other well. However, he's right about not bringing Roman into their relationship until they sort things out. I don't think he dislikes the kid, but he needs to be on more solid ground with Vivi first.
One of the ironies about people who are good talkers and writers is that talking about their own emotions is as difficult for them as it is for the rank and file. It might even be harder because they back of off almost anything that disrupts their otherwise reliable eloquence.
I don't think Pablo is going to cave to Mayelen. Luzma will probably see Mayelen being confianzuda with Pablo & come to the wrong conclusion. But everything will be straightened out. I have so much faith in Pablo{pls don't disappoint }
Yago is a gilipollas but he hasn't done enough to be offed, just taken down several pegs.
I agree, Carolina, that big, showy proposals are a bit much. I prefer the more intimate, personal kind, such as a lovely dinner or perhaps a nighttime picnic at the beach.....
Nanette
Carolina: Since they haven't been able to get the vaccine yet, a drink memorial per cow may be a bit much. Maybe just one big gulp of tequila for all the lost lives, may they forever swish their tails in el cielo de toros.
Kelly
"I don't think Aaron has what Vivi wants...he's not alpha enough."
Don't forget that it was Aarón who clarified for Vivi that Rafa is what she wants. I see Aarón as something of a super-alpha who doesn't see the need to compete.
I'm guessing that he knows that Vivi is meant for him and since she expressed to him her confliction (I know...not a word) he wanted her to have the Rafa experience so that when she becomes clear about her true feelings for Aarón there will be no doubt.
You're welcome.
Carlos
We're in for a roller coaster week again, which is how I like them. Don't anybody miss anything!
"doesn't see the need to compete"
I agree.
"something of a super-alpha"
uummm, maybe. He was pretty impressive with Dionisio when the need arose.
"he wanted her to have the Rafa experience so that when she becomes clear about her true feelings for Aarón there will be no doubt."
OK, if you say so. :)
Who would want to visit a tourist area that recently had an outbreak of a highly contagious virus? I’d think people would stay away from there for quite awhile.
Chris: “Nessum Dorma” is my favorite piece of classical music.
Carlos: I’m with you re: Vivi and Aaron.
Thought Piedad was wearing more makeup. For Hipolito?
OT: I assume there will be a team of Caray recappers recapping FC’s new one.
Fatima. Please don’t deprive the group of your great comments.
Nanette
Maybe you could be roped into writing a Sequel?
Off to see Parsifal in NYC, folks. Now that is a hard to believe make-believe. Be back in the land of *real* make-believe on Thursday.
We love your contributions. I got slapped on the wrist a long, long time ago and it's all forgotten (like I can't even remember what I said to deserve it).
Isa mentioned the need to kill off Cayetano before her 6 months is up. We know she likes potassium overdoses, but if she ends up in jail when she arrives home, that will be a little difficult to do from there.
"'...super-alpha'
uummm, maybe. He was pretty impressive with Dionisio when the need arose."
This guy has been Yoda from the very first.
Nanette,
"I’m with you re: Vivi and Aaron."
And I appreciate your wry humor.
Anita,
"...I think you are writing the post-production..."
Only if necessary.
Carlos
"I'm still not seeing Vivi and Aaron. It's way too platonic on both sides for me."
But don't you enjoy surprises?
And a lot more fun to think about than:
DEAD CATTLE...seventy-two and climbing!
Carlos
Yes, I love surprises! I wouldn't be sad if Aaron and Vivi hooked up...just not seeing it yet.
So true it's a lot more fun than talk about dead bulls and the endless idiocy of those characters whose names I will not now mention:)
Marta
Kelly, you think big. I like that. However, a toast per beast would be a bit taxing on our livers. :)
I really, really loved Angry Aaron, when he went all alpha crazy, yelling at Dio and FX and that one time at Bruno. Serene Aaron? Gets a bit tiresome. I’m not seeing him with Vivi. If that was going to happen, it would have by now. I don’t think he would ever hurt his brother like that, anyhow.
Mariano?
Dante?
Rafa?
Miriam?
Teresa?
Abraham(maybe he can get released)?
Dionysio?
FedEx?
UPS?
Carlos

NG makes a move on Pablo.
Useless Ileana strikes again (why is she still around?!)
Fatima- It was actually those of us who pasted text from GV's site who got scolded, not those of you who asked what had been said in that scene.
We all cross the line of what's allowable/acceptable/preferred by the recappers and/or our fellow Caraymates sometimes, but that shouldn’t stop us from continuing to comment. And this instance especially shouldn’t prevent you from commenting because you didn't get in trouble for anything. Variopinta and I did. Rebels that we are! ;-) LOL!
Pretty darned low lows:
Miriam wants Dan to make love to her.
Going out on a limb here and say that Dan and Miriam did make love.
