Amor Bravío #147 (Uni 142) Fri 3/15/13 The Battle for Bulls’ Run, Round Two: Gussie’s a Goner
==============
======================
~~Part 3~~
Labels: bravio
It was a bone-headed move on Augustina's part to call the devil out on his adultery with the Black Widow, which does not justify what he did to her afterward. He is clearly slipshod in his management if Omar didn't have direct orders to prevent her from leaving the house in the first place. She should think about the missing cell phone.
As for Agustina, I had faith she could be a little more suave with her intent to bring out the truth about Dio, but I agree, UA, that confronting him and Isa head on was utterly estupida. So glad Dan was there for her.
New Girl...a very STUPID story line; stupid.
Why do the writers do this? Honestly, this is enough to make one want to throw a shoe at the blasted TV.
Such a well written story now resorts to this stupidity at this point in the story?!?
Stupidity. That all I can say. Stupidity. I also can't decide whose face I'd like to slap more...Natalia's or Luzma's (and, no, I am not insensitive to her significant issues).
What utter frustration.
Fatima
We knew Aggie was going to end up in jail for a while. She did commit fraud, so I wonder how she will get out. Even if Camila can come up with the money to pay back the investors, she is still guilty and would have to serve time.
After wanting Bratgirl to leave the entire show, now I'm mad that she has to go. Tell someone about the drops before you're gone, please.
Has there really been a storyline in another tn where the wife asks someone else to seduce her husband away? I can't remember one. In any case, I think this shows Luzma's complete lack of understanding of the depth of Pablo's love for her, and for that reason I am disappointed in her. Fine, if she feels she needs to separate from him to get herself together. And fine, if she doesn't expect him to wait for her. But purposely trying to get him to fall into bed with another woman right after she dumped him, is just insulting. I hope Pablo gets royally pissed at her when he finds out. And no, he will not fall to the temptation.

Vivi, the only thing I can think of that even comes close was in La Esposa Virgen when Blanca virtually gave her husband to Virginia before she died. She didn't want him and their daughter to feel abandoned after her death. Virginia was all kinds of impactada for several reasons.
Luzma may be too young to understand the depth of Pablo's love for her and he is very mature for his age to feel the way he does.
As for Ileana, I'm hoping too she divulges her knowledge of the drops. She is a force to be reckoned with, and I'd love to see more clashes between her and Isa.
Renata 770, good point about this type of reaction/response not being new to Luzma. Piedad seems like a good mother (except when she was so ready to defend/support Leo, but...she had her eyes opened), why hasn't Luzma gone to her for help and support? What is it about Luzma that she feels she always has to just "give up" (again, not talking about her post trauma issues). Why does she think she doesn't deserve happiness and light?
Fatima
1. Steal those drops.
2. Bring them to Mariano not useless Yago.
2. Get out of there while you can.
If Augustina is the worst spy in the world, Bratgirl is the worst villain!!! We've been waiting this whole show for her to do something other than listen at doors or make minor threats and now she's finally got the PROOF to bust Issa and she blows not one, but two chances to nail her!!! Yago could care less if Ileanas kicked off the ranch but he MIGHT care that she saw her putting mysterious drops in his drink! Bratgirl was savvy enough to call out Issa but then clams up around Caye and Yago? Come on, girl! Nows your chance to score points with Yago!!! Think like a true villainess in training!!!
Lastly, I'm thinking if I'd been tied up all night, bound and gagged, and narrowly escaped with my life, I might run to the police, not home for a change of clothes and tea!? Am I being too critical today? I love this show!:)
Loved your recap, part 1, Jardinera! Thank you!
Katy
Augustina might be better off in jail for a bit. Safer than being out on the street where she can be killed before telling that super secret briefcase code. And she could file a counter complain about the whole tied up on the floor thing.
Side note: Mariachi opera tonight! "Cruzar la Cara de la Luna" with Mariachi Vargas. Like a musical telenovela! I got some Vicente Fernandez music from the library to help get in the mood.
Kelly
Great start, as always. You certainly channel this member of viewerville's reactions well.
I am a bit worried about Rafa's vision still. The visit to the doctor's office has now spanned two episodes, with lots of talk about how he needs to be able to read and write.
And, though I must echo the comments of others that Roman is not a terribly endearing child. Have raised two loud and rowdy boys who did eventually turn into sweet and thoughtful men, I think it takes a lot to love a child at that age and give Rafa, Vivi and the PSA-lovin' writers kudos for pushing the story line. Unfortunately, it isn't as compelling as some others have been!
Oh, Luzma and NG. It's all been said. The contrast between Luzma's lack of marital intimacy and Hipolito's and Piedad's has to mean something -- another reason that I'm betting on mom and new papa to play a major role in resolving this crisis and not in a good way for Leo. Why can't this be more of a PSA moment, with emphasis on therapy, meds, couples counseling . . . whatever, other than surrogacy?
Really, given Miriam's ability to absorb more and more information about the maleantes in Mexico and to remain standing, smiling and baking cookies, why aren't her friends suggesting a second opinion? It's so clear that there isn't a thing wrong with her, she's been to a local neurologist, etc. Her friends are educated people, but then, so are the many folks trying to help Luzma.
Beanie-tightening time as we await anvils to drop and hope that the good guys to meet good fates.
There's no story line possible that will please everyone of the hundreds of addicts tuned in to this tn. Some of us will see all things we dislike as bad writing. Others of us will see the same things as great or entertaining.
It's not just you, it happens over and over. It's common for viewers to blame the writers when it comes to something they don't agree with. As a result, we're all stress out as the writers head to the bank.
Traveling Lady- I think we can be 99.9% sure that the writers will make the surrogacy plan a huge failure, and will show in the end that only time, therapy, patience, and determination will be what works for Luzma and Pablo. PSA mission accomplished.
I laughed out loud when Dan, Dante and Tere's eyes got super wide the more upset Miriam got, like she was a time bomb about to explode, and that when they told her to calm down she snapped back that they're the ones who need to calm the hell down! LOL!
Two more secrets from Miriam down: 1) Abe is jail; and 2) Dio was behind her murder attempt and is a demon out to steal, murder and create mayhem. (They had downplayed Cami's problem with him as more of a family dispute.) Only two more secrets from Miriam to go: 1) They all believe she has an aneurism that could pop at any moment; and 2) Dan and Cam are in love and MARRIED (sort of).
Anita- You asked the other day, why no talk of divorce between Cam and Dan. Do they need a divorce if their marriage was never legal to begin with?
in his house. That will catch whoever goes in to steal the briefcase or the contents.
We don't have time for a lot of nonsense between Mayelen & Pablo.
I'm at a loss of words for Luz's proposal to NG. My guess is that NG is going to spill the beans to Pablo that she has Luz's blessing to seduce him. Pablo in turn will confront Luz with the info and use it to re-affirm his undying love for her. She'll resist and he'll continue to beg and plead until the last 2 or 3 episodes when she'll finally see the light and the 2 will live happily ever after. (Is it obvious that this subplot hasn't been the most exciting for me)?
Isa can always claim that the drops are viagra drops.
When have we ever seen a bandage-removing scene that went well (the first time anyway)? I hope we don't have to go down that path with Rafa. He's already learned his lesson about depending on the help of others. Do we really need another protracted tragedy? As for Roman and the voices? Puh-leeze! What is that all about? Why would they write such a role for a child whose ONLY voice is a raucous mess.
I don't want to get into the Luzma thing. I agree with Fatima, it's a weak device at this point in an otherwise excellent script. I think a more realistic tack would be for her to get seriously depressed and possibly suicidal. Either way, they are showing us that a sweet, wonderful (albeit passive-aggressive) girl has been dangerously harmed by violence, and that she needs more focused care. But that idiocy with NG is just not believable.
Miriam is starting to show some spunk and maybe, despite everything we've been led to believe about the false diagnosis, she really does have a ticking time bomb in her head. I can't get the possibility out of my mind, although I would love to see her stick around to make pobre de Mariano happy.
Open minded- the thing that bothers most of us with TNs is the implausibility of the plots and character reactions. We may not like that Leon raped Luzma, but none of us have complained that it's unrealistic. My complaints with certain TNs usually have to do with how a character unrealistically reacts to something, or naively believes someone when there has been proof over proof that the person has been lying. This TN has been the best I've seen to having the characters acting in a way that the rest of us would react in the same situation, even when the situation is over the top to begin with.
Fatima (smiling while she's enjoying blowing off the steam!)
I agree with the opinion that Luzma asking NG to fill in is a dumb story line.
Let's focus on nailing the bad guys in the last few episodes.
Cindy
Loved--Surrogate wife bomb (never would have thought of putting those three words together)
Just point the way and lemme at 'im (I can just see her plotting in her filmy little nighty night of a sky blue, see-through, shorty short dress that matched the blue of the tiles on the fountain--kudos to wardrobe-Not)
Bedroom bonanza (Just what Piedad needed after so many years, no? Hope Hip was up to more than once.)
Tere sniffs (she does have that look freeze-dried on her face)
Gussie coming home to change her clothes and have tea after being encerrada all night and barely making it out alive (I hadn't thought that, but of course, you're right and that's sooo funny.)
CARLOS--Just for you--did you and everybody else see Dan's no-no, please, no cardigan over the shoulders? (Again wardrobe wasn't thinking. Maybe the fact that it was a sweat shirt with extra long sleeves was ok--Not.) Dan didn't look very comfortable in it.
This storyline, although entirely too late in being introduced in AB, is a little reminiscent of the Old Testament Abraham and Sarah, who gives him Hagar to sleep with because she can't have children. Everything ends well, they both have children and live happily ever after. Can't see a threesome with Pablo, though.
Now if Ileana continues in Buena Aventura she will undoubtedly get more incriminating evidence against Issa. I hope she's smart and stays.
Nanette – Avatar change? sneaky.
One thing I've learned from watching years of TNs, is not to assume an outcome just because the writers threw in a monkey wrench. I still believe that NG is not going to seduce Pablo because: 1) she has been shot down once/twice already; 2) she has seen how much he loves Luz.
I still think she will instead do something to help them.
And now that Bratgirl has a chance to be USEFUL, i.e., tell the bros about the drops, instead she goes crying to Yago and Caye about her patinas being thrown to el calle. I had such hopes for her redemption.
Thanks Jardinera for a great recap in partes.
I feel bad now that I ragged on her so often.
I think Miriam snapping at Dan and Dante that her reaction was perfectly normal and they were the ones who needed to calm the hell down was my all time favorite Miriam moment. I’d like her a lot more if she acted like that a lot more. Not the being angry part, but I’d like her to get real more often. (I couldn’t help but notice that her reaction to the news of Abe in jail and Dio headed that way soon, god willing, was classic Miriam: me me me. Almost immediately after learning this, she goes off with, wow, what is the deal with all of a sudden all these people I know going to jail? Not about how awful it must be to be in jail. Me. It’s all about me with this girl.)
I can’t believe that Dan’s plan is to keep Miriam from any source of stress without ever telling her why. That just wouldn’t be possible, and anyone would start to get pretty PO-ed pretty quickly if they were constantly being told to calm down. Miriam is an adult. She has a right to know about her own health. She also has a right to know that she may not live much longer. In this country, it wouldn’t even be legal to tell her diagnosis to her husband and Dante and not to her. And as a practical matter, wouldn’t it work a lot better to have her understanding the concern and the need to avoid stress? Then she could work toward that goal herself. I’ve known people who had to manage health problems and have made remarkable changes in their lifestyles, stress levels, and even in their personalities. I had a family member with terminal cancer who miraculously managed to live for years longer than expected and who made huge changes. She was always wonderful, but in her last years, she opened up emotionally and lived in the moment so much. She became even more wonderful. Miriam has that right to know that any day could be her last.
However, since she doesn’t really have a life-threatening condition, how many times are these dimwits going to see her react to bad news and not drop dead before they realize they’ve been had? Or that they really need a second opinion? Or that they should take a look on the google machine and see that her condition is operable? Or get some marriage counseling forpetessake and learn a bit about how lying will destroy intimacy and poison any relationship. Bad news is not inherently stressful. If Miriam really had an aneurysm and Dan really were going to stay with her, they could learn communication techniques that would be honest and minimize stress. In the long run, it would be much better for her health and for their marriage.
I think the writing in this TN was better for the first part, the part that was a remake of a previous TN (sorry, can’t remember the name) and that ended with Dan-n-Cam’s wedding. I think the whole return of Miriam and a lot of what has gone on since that point has been a lot weaker and a lot of it seems like fill. Just my take. I am certainly enjoying the whole shebang, though, and overall have no complaints. It’s been a ton of fun.
Audrey - I think Gussie is a goner in jail not death.
ITA w/the comments on Luzma. I think depression would have been a stronger plotline than NG as surrogate.
Anita - Sarah/Abraham/Hagar did NOT end happily ever after in regard to relationship between the three. First Sarah booted Hagar out after the latter became pregnant. Hagar returned and had to make nice with Sarah. Then Sarah kicked them out again when Ishmael was mocking Issac and they NEVER return to Abraham.
Anita, good point about biblical history.
As much as we may hate the "surrogate wife bomb," it is not as far-fetched as many might think. I've seen versions of this in real life.
The thing with Roman and the reading voices, I think, was written before the writers really knew the caliber of child actor they had on their hands. I believe it was meant to enhance the story of how, when Vivi and Rafa first started reading to the orphans, they (the orphans) became more interested in books, reading and learning by how they (Vivi/Rafa) brought the books to life, changing voices and adding actions to their reading. That Roman is now "reading with voices" is meant to show that his love for reading (and learning) has grown by leaps and bounds. Too bad the actor couldn't handle the role and now the writers/director are stuck with what they have - an annoying little kid whose 'voices' are just slightly different levels of monotone noise. :-)

What I'm not enjoying is Luzma's distracting idiotic solution to her marital distress. I'm not quite sure whom she is showing the most disrespect for...Pablo or New Girl.
Agnes,
"I think a more realistic tack would be for her to get seriously depressed and possibly suicidal.
If you think back, you'll recall that she's already pursued that option down by the pond.
Anita,
I admit that I cracked up when I saw those dangling sleeves. At least he could have done the alpha thing and knotted it loosely around his neck.
Carlos
As annoyed with Luzma as I was, I did find it funny when she said to Mayalen, “I know you like Pablo…as a MAN. Don’t deny it.” And Mayalen got all flustered, playing with her hair and trying to play it off. No New Girl- you are not slick. We all know what you’re after.
Carlos- Thanks for bringing up that we already saw Luzma go through her depressed/suicidal phase. We really couldn’t have gone through the whole tn with her like that, so I guess this is a natural progression.
I like the PabLuz couple and both of the characters, so I do want to see a good end for them.
But hey if I am wrong, I will drink a toast to ViviDC and Carlos and to hell with waiting for the bulls to run!
It struck me when he told her that he wanted her to have the MalQ and she was worth a thousand ranches that while that sounds very nice, it appears she isn't even worth the bother of getting a second opinion of Miriam's condition. And Camila ought to be pushing for a second opinion or for her to see a specialist or to explore treatments as well. Yet she hasn't made a peep about it. That's not how doctors that I know think.
I remain disappointed that Camila didn't put an effort into keeping Dan. I understand that she is now at the point where she just wants to forget, and I know that is healthy and what she needs. However, she really went down without a fight, IMHO.
Padre already told Dan that Judaism allows divorces and the Catholic Church can grant them an annulment. That was at a time when Dan hadn't decided yet who he was going to stay with and was leaning towards the divorce from MM--before the fake diagnosis.
My beef is that Cam 'n Dan have never talked about it, discussed the *real* end to their marriage, or even that they are *still* married. Even one of the Scoobies could have mentioned it when they were checking on Rafa. And, looking at the photos together doesn't count--all they said to each other was how the photos were the only proof of their great love for each other. That would have been a good segue into discussing who would be filing for the annulment (if it hadn't been for that oh, so sad, but emotional last kiss).
Renata was more than anxious to get the annulment from Jeronimo in the hopper in CME. And we got a Juan Cristobal sighting for the wait.
I have no idea if the Catholic Church counts a marriage as valid if they weren't allowed to legally marry in the first place. I had just assumed Cam-Dan also signed the civil paperwork sometime before or after the religious ceremony. They actually didn't show us much of their wedding/reception.
==========
As for 2nd opinions, if Miriam travels to Chile, I bet she'll look up her old doctors there and get their opinion far away from Dio's clutches at this point.
Her reconciliation with Daniel was sweet and a harbinger of what a lovely role he can have in Camila's extended family, assuming all ends as we hope it will. I am feeling like Agustina will get through these legal troubles, but not without a lot of stress and tears for both her and Camila.
Picking strawberries with a little one. Nothing could be more perfect, though getting ready for Easter sounds pretty good, too. We sure appreciate his willingness to share his grandmother with us as we make our well al fin.
Thanks for filling in what Ileana said to Caye. I didn't catch that she was actually warning him about the drops. But I suppose he's the wrong person to warn, as he is under their influence. She's got to make her toxic self useful before she packs those bags.
And the Mexican justice system goes right back to work arresting the wrong peeps. I wonder what shenanigans it will take to reveal the real perps). Poor Gussie in the hoosegow. I don't guess she'll be wearing lavender in there.
Thanks again for brightening our Sunday morning with your wonderful talents. I'm imagining the good time you had picking strawberries with your grandson. What a joy! —Agnes
I love it when you do the recap in parts on the weekend. It helps to continue the conversation over the longer break.
We now know how Leo will escape the jail if he is going to do it. By the garbage truck. They told us the schedule.
And I'll bet money that Dan gets Aggie's keys and goes to Dion's house when no one is there to look in the briefcase. Except Dion will find out because he has surveillance videos of the inside. Bu who cares if Dan can get the info anyway. I hope it won't be Osvaldo trying to do that. He wouldn't be able to withstand retaliation from Dion.
Lots of stuff beginning to be in the works this episode—Iliana knows about THE DROPS that are stealing Caye’s will; the Justice League is planning to steal the THE BRIEFCASE; Leo has likely found a way to make a prison break to get revenge on Isa (and to likely got after Luzma too); and Gussy’s going to the hoosegow for fraud. Plenty of drama to lead us up to the finale. Let the games begin!
I also enjoyed seeing Gussy apologize to Dan for her petty behavior due to her jealousy of his mama. They had a very sweet moment as he hugged her and kissed her forehead.
I hadn't caught what was said in the "conversation" between He Who Shall Not Be Named and another inmate, so I really appreciated your help there. It seems clear that El Cerdo will escape with the garbage truck (seems appropriate, yes?). My guess is that regardless of what happens before that with Pablo and Luzma, the news that El Cerdo has escaped will make Pablo unwilling to leave Luzma's side. (And perhaps be the one to finally get rid of El Cerdo permanently? I'm still thinking that there's got to be a confrontation between Hissa and El Cerdo, but how that turns out isn't clear.)
Agnes suggested that Omar could redeem himself by getting Dio's briefcase and turning it over to those who need it, but though I like that idea, I'm more inclined to think that Dan will be the one to go after the briefcase. Alas, the secret surveillance that Dio has installed will record that. Unless, of course, Omar can be persuaded to turn off the surveillance.
I wonder whether the writers have made BratGirl see what Hissa's doing with the drops only to toy with us. They keep surprising us, and so it wouldn't be too farfetched to believe that they'd plant Hissa's seeming undoing only to tease us.
Can't wait for next week's episodes!
I do think Leo will escape on the garbage truck and head straight for Isadora, but I also think Ileana will divulge the drops and help Dumbo Cayo see the light.
I agree that when the news comes out that Leo has escaped, Pablo will stick by Luzma no matter what she says.
I don’t believe that Omar is redeemable; he’s a thug who’s paid to do Dionisio’s dirty work. However despicable Leoncerdo was, Omar held him down and took pleasure in seeing Isadora cut out his tongue and was very impressed on how well she did. That alone will not give him passage to the redemption gate; and let’s not talk about holding Yago at gun point forcing him to marry Nat and his latest dirty work with spreading the virus that almost killed Dan and took out ¼ of the herd. I don’t think his facial expression or contortion is cause enough to call for his redemption; when he starts going against orders and breaks rank with Dionisio, then we can say redemption.
Carolina, we agree 100% when it comes to Cam not fighting and giving so easily on her marriage/relationship with Dan. And to make matters worse; she now feels guilty for her feelings because la Santa Miriam is an enchanting woman who saves Dan’s life and her ranch. GAG ME!!!
Anyway, in regards to Dan’s desire to protect Miriam from ever knowing that she’s potentially ill, is a recipe for major disaster. For one thing Dan is only with Miriam for obligation not love; he’s trying to convince himself that once he’s back in Chile, everything will be normal—which is a load of bull—and further no matter what, he can’t keep his distance from Cam especially now that he’s clear that Miriam belongs in his past; and the worse part of his plan is that he’s not only hurting Cam and himself but he’s hurting Miriam even more. Miriam is the type of woman when the truth is revealed will be the one to seek a divorce.
The other day; it was discussed that Miriam knows or has a feeling about Dan-n-Cam; at this point, I believe that Miriam senses that something has changed in Dan-his distancing himself; no desire to make love to her; not reciprocating I Love you, his rushing to be at LMQ no matter who calls—but the idea that Dan loves another woman and stopped loving her altogether have not crossed her mind. And knowing how self absorbed she is, I think there’ll be a point at which she’ll believe that it’s Camilla who is in love with her husband and not the other way around.
Myo-
To complete my thinking on the whole not fighting and not getting the second diagnosis situation, I think the reason that Dan has not taken the actions that could lead to staying with Camila is because of his reluctance to face the music with Miriam. If he learns that she has no health issues to prevent her from learning the truth about Dan-n-Cam, then he will have to tell her that truth so he can be with Camila. Awkward. He doesn't want to do that, which is one reason I have to think he is not very brave and lacks integrity. As long as he can stick his head in the sand about her health issues, he has an excuse not to tell her the truth. In effect, he is choosing not to have to face telling the truth to Miriam over being with Camila.
Camila, on the other hand, is just tossing in the towel and saying, oh well, Miriam is such a nice person that she deserves to have Dan. Gah! What woman in the history of the planet has ever given up the love of her life for that reason?
Interesting observation about Miriam most likely thinking Camila is in love with Dan but not he with her. That makes a lot of sense. Not only does it fit with her self-absorption, but it is somewhat natural to want to deny that your own spouse has strayed. It's much easier psychologically to just blame an outside intruder for disrupting your marriage than to admit that your spouse loves another.
I did enjoy seeing Dan give Augustina that hug. He's a very good hugger, I think. He is a great guy in many ways, and I have always seen that. And I actually like that he is a complex and flawed galan. Someone who is pure good, like Pablo, doesn't hold my interest. He is not realistic although Dan is. My problem is that the two main flaws Dan has, a hot temper and a tendency to lie, are both huge red flags in a relationship for me. I say run, don't walk, away from any guy who has either trait. If he has both, run even faster.
And many comments back Soyyo said that the script for Roman's role may have been written before anyone knew " the caliber of child actor they had on their hands" So, yes, I think the voices thing is a lovely idea, but unfortunately no amount of coaching could bring it to life with this kid. Makes me wonder about the Televisa School of Acting.
Do we suppose Miriam is warming so much to Mariano because she's missing what she used to get at home and the man she used to trust is holding back and she knows it? I actually see her as a spontaneous and fairly well-balanced and self-respecting person who's been thrust into this spiderweb of intrigue and deception. It was easy not to like her at first because she seemed like such a clueless interloper, but the role has developed and I think the actress is doing a creditable job.
Jardinera, my aunt used to live near Bull Run and you can still visit the battlefield there; beautiful Virginia countryside. Your title cracked me up. There sure is a lotta bull in this show.
As for Cam, if Miriam were just some strange woman who came out of nowhere and took her husband, and Cam just stepped aside, then I’d say she just gave up. But Cam sees HERSELF as the woman who came out of nowhere and took some other woman’s husband. Camila is the other woman, and her conscience can’t let her live with that. We can spin it any way we want, but that’s the way Camila sees it. She’s a gal who sticks to her principals, so we can’t expect her to change her character overnight.
Agnes- “Do we suppose Miriam is warming so much to Mariano because she's missing what she used to get at home and the man she used to trust is holding back and she knows it?” If Miriam had been “alive” when Dan met Cam, I don’t think anything would have started between them, although they likely would have still been attracted to each other. Mir’s death left the door open to Dan’s heart. Mir and Mariano are attracted to each other, regardless of whether or not Dan exists. Dan being distant has definitely opened up a window of opportunity in Miriam’s heart, where attraction to Mariano could turn into something more.

What I would see as principled in this situation as would be going after what you need to make yourself happy, as well as ultimately everyone else. She should be able to see that Dan will not be happy with Miriam since he is still so hung up on her. Sending him off to live in a sham marriage is not principled, and although it is Dan's choice to make, she could still try to influence it, but instead she has done pretty much the opposite and has pushed him away. From the arrival of Miriam, she shut the door on intimacy with him instead of trying to preserve it. She just didn't want the messiness of confronting Miriam or seeing Dan divorce her, either. She decided on some level or another that Dan just wasn't worth it.
However, it is clear that Camila is not happy about losing Dan. My take is that in a situation like this, where Camila did not steal anyone's husband and both women have equal claim to him, and, most importantly, where the husband loves and wants to be with her, it is actually more principled to have the courage to go for what you want and need to be happy rather than sit back and play the victim. I firmly believe that we create our own happiness or, in Camila's case, her own unhappiness.
I am not buying the idea that somehow Camila has taken the high road when she hasn't been true to herself. Your point is that she has been true to some noble notion that a woman can never be involved in the break up of a marriage, but this situation is far from the standard other woman one. It is far more fundamental to be true to Dan and their love and to her future happiness, IMO. I am happy to agree to disagree with you on this, however. :)
If one wanted to psycho analyse Danny Boy, one could say that he was working on self-sabotaging his marriage to Miriam.
Luzma, IMO, has also just given up and handed Pablo to Mayelen on a platter. Whether Pablo will agree to be "handed over" as just so much merchandise is another matter, although I don't think Mayelen will tell him that Luzma gave her the green light. I don't think Mayelen will hold back from trying to 'seduce' him. I think she will act as she would have acted from the beginning if Luzma had not been in the picture. I don't think she'll succeed, but she will sure try.
Miriam, I think, would fight for her love if she thought she was loved back, but she seems to be the type that once she finds out about the Cam/Dan connection, she will fall back on her "me, me, me" attitude and figure, "well, if he doesn't love ME, I don't need him!"
Soyyo
The picture is irrefutable proof but let’s not forget about the necklace or the wedding rings – they’re still unfound.
Myo-
I am posting on every recap to remind/announce to you that our own Melinama/Jane is in the midst of a live concert on Google+ or YouTube with her St. Patrick's Day concert of the Pratie Heads. Here is the link for now live or later I think it will be viewable too:
http://www.youtube.com/user/PratieHeads?v=63e9oTOXwxY
Jardinera- I forgot to mention how much I was amused by that conversation between Isa and Ili, and your retelling of it.
"Issa raises a well plucked brow and smiles contemptibly at her. “—Ah, you are not fool—a freeloader yes, but a fool no! Pack your bags pretty girl and now, excuse me.”" LOL! Great scene.
Counting on Bratgirl to blab about those drops. She doesn't give up easily.
Camila is very probably struggling with her conscience at this point. Daniel told her how much he loved Miriam and how sad he was when told she was dead. I don't think this would have necessarily been enough; there is now the baby. Camila lost her own father when very young, had one worthless stepfather and one dangerous one. I wonder whether she is identifying with baby Agatha.
Agree with the above comment about Omar being irredeemable. Unless someone bribes him more than El Diablo is paying him he won't turn on the devil.
The PabLuz situation is the first time the writers have made such a ridiculous plot line that wasn't necessary for advancing the story (Dan's reasoning for not telling Camila and now Miriam the truth is close, but I'm OK with it since I get the value to the storyline). It would be nice if Pablo shuts this down muy pronto. And it would be a plus if NG was actually a help as well.
The idea of Luzma killing Leonicio is awful. As much as it could be justified by self-defense, Luzma would handle the taking of a life very hard. She doesn't need anymore emotional baggage.
I think Gussie has repented enough. It can stop now. Dan was very sweet and cute when he gave Gussie that hug.
I had the distinct impression Gussie was terrified of leaving the ranch when she called Osvaldo and asked him to come to her. I think she felt safer at the ranch which is why she didn't go right to the police.
As Vivi mentioned, the scene where Dan and Dante are gaping at Miriam waiting for her head to explode was a hoot.
I couldn't believe BratGirl just charged into Cayetonto's bedroom without knocking. Suppose he was naked? Eeeeew! And when she clutched his foot while making her pleas, I had to laugh. I vote her stay at BV be extended.

Cheryl/NM: Nice to see you're back with us! Thanks for the link. I'm listening right now. I love this kind of folksy music, whatever the country or reason! Jane is fabulous! Never had the opportunity to hear her before and it is such a treat.
These thoughts are partially in response to Carolina's point about the lack of fight.
First, I may be one of the few, if not the only person here who doesn't see the Pablo/Luzma "surrogate wife bomb" storyline as ridiculous. This happens in real life, so it's not unrealistic. It's not the solution, but it happens, more often than you might think. This brings me to my point. Cam and Luzma are doing the exact same thing. They are trying to be noble while attempting to control a situation.
In each case, they are "giving" their husbands to women who are, in their opinion, better in some way and who would "win" the competition ... so they don't fight. Mayalen can offer Pablo sex ... now. Miriam can offer Dan fatherhood ... now. Nevermind, that both Luzma and Camila have the potential to offer their own versions "the whole marriage/family package" in the future.
Luzma would fight an Ileana type. Camila would fight an Isadora type. But the "M" women are sweet, kind, helpful, and have provided life-saving acts, not to mention, they like/love the respective husband. So Luzma and Camila choose the future of the men for them by pushing them away, not fighting, and choosing their replacements or successors. (Again, this happens in real-life, it's not just TN craziness, so PSAs are necessary if the writers are taking that route.)
Cam and Luzma have assessed the "worthiness" of their competitors, and they have decided that the competition has more to offer, and they have decided *for* their men that the respective "M" women are somehow better. Cam and Luz have each ignored the deep depths of love that Dan and Pablo have for them respectively. Deep depths.
In each case, Cam pushes Dan away when he gets too close. Luzma pushes Pablo away when things get too tense. Dan's plate is definitely full, but I think that he would be much more aggressive about finding an second opinion if Cam wasn't pushing him away all of the time and telling him that he has to go away forever. If she told him that she wants him and loves him, and that she's his wife too, then he might aggressively seek both a second opinion and possible cures. Similarly, if there was a coming together instead of a pushing away, Pablo and Luz could each seek therapy, joint, and individual.
Closing point. Cam and Luz are doing the same thing. Despite their strengths, they are martyring themselves, being "noble," being self-sacrificing, feeling unworthy, yet controlling the situation so that it has an outcome that they "think" they can live with.
Think the writing has been fresh and tight until recently. Been increasingly beanie time for me lately.
I'd love to see Ileana sneak some of those drops into Isa's tea. That would be a hoot.

netgirl--Interesting and thoughtful new way of thinking of Cam & Luz. I can definitely see it, too. I wonder if the writers see beyond the action and into the characters' psyches the way we do.
and netgirl, thank you for voicing, so articulately and comprehensively, your view about the Cam/Dan and Luz/Pab difficulties. I can't say I disagree with what you say. There is a very similar self-effacing, non-confrontational quality about both these gals. I'm not personally familiar with any woman setting up a surrogate for her partner except in the case of infertility, so, for me it was a major beanie moment. But there is a biblical precedent in the Sarah/Abraham story (albeit for reasons of producing offspring) so, I'm willing to give it another look in terms of plausibility. I do think the pushing away has such a pathetic element of wishful thinking in both cases. But this being a telenovela, in only a few short weeks, everybody will be properly hitched up with their correct partners, the bad guys will have received their just deserts and with any luck at all there will be a couple more buns in the oven. Hey, it's not real life after all.
I would take things a bit step further, if I may. Both of these women may be thinking they are being noble martyrs, but both are very wrong and misguided in that. I'll take your word that the surrogate wife bomb actually happens in real life; maybe you have more interesting friends than I do. But I hope that you aren't suggesting that it is a good solution. And as I spelled out above, Camila's solution is not beneficial to anyone long term, not even baby Agatha, and Camila would be much better off being true to herself instead of a noble fantasy.
As a literary device, a foil (two sets of characters in similar circumstances or acting in a similar way) is meant to help us see the behavior of the main characters in a different light. Perhaps, we can all see the folly of Luzma's behavior easily, and so we are meant to see more clearly the folly of Camila's.
Nanette- Great list, as always. Thanks for reminding us of that shudder Iliana gave when she saw Isa kissing Cayetano. She's actually been amusing me this past week. And of course, watching her being kicked out and stamping her foot to no avail, is part of the fun.
"Padre B.’s death is laid at Al’s (conveniently dead) door." This made me laugh for some reason. :)
LXV, yes, I too look forward to everything being right with the world by the end of this TN. I posted in one of the weekend discussions that I watch TNs, Bollywood movies, K-dramas, and Hallmark movies because I *want* the happy ending in the neat little packages, since that *doesn't* always happen in real life.
Carolina, oh no ... I'm definitely *NOT* saying that Luzma is making the right decision. No, no Luzma ... wrong decision, wrong path. I also agree with you regarding Cam's behavior. Given their "hermana/hermanita" type of relationship, I wonder how Camila would counsel Luzma given her own behaviors? Further, I am intrigued by this TN because indeed both Cam and MM are both the wife and the other woman. Technically, there wasn't any adultery, and likewise, neither is a mistress. Carolina, you make good points about the Cam/Dan solution not being good for anyone, and not for Agatha either. I too speculate that if Dan returns to Chile with MM, he would try to be a good husband, but he would pine for Camila. He would likely obsess about her life without him while he's waiting for MM to die for real this time, waiting for his future "Like water for chocolate" moment when he can go back to Mexico and they can burn for love. [Did you all see that movie?] That's no way to live. MM will have an unhappy husband, Agatha will have a perpetually sad dad.
I agree that Camila has reached a point where she just wants to move on and that is healthy for her. I don't have a problem with how she is acting now. It's what she did and didn't do earlier that put her into the position she is in now that I have a problem with. However, if she doesn't want to fight, it's best to focus on moving on. But I have a hard time seeing anyone choosing passivity and to not go after the man they love or anything that they want or need to be happy. IMO, even if you lose, the loss is a lot easier to accept and you end up a lot less angry if you have given it your best shot. I couldn't live with myself if I had given up on Dan the way Camila did. But, as you say, everyone is entitled to their own personal pathology. God knows, I have mine.
In all the break-up episodes with Cam 'n Dan, starting with the beso under the trees, it has been Camila who has done the pushing away. She chose to stay in control and minimize the hurt. Dan has never "broken up" with Cam (until he threatened to turn himself in after escaping the hospital, etc. etc.). When MM appeared on the scene, again, Cam wasn't sure what Dan was going to do and took the lead. It was Cam that took off their wedding rings, although Dan was still holding out hope at that instance that all would be well once Miriam's tests came back ok. When they came back with the aneurysm, she felt deflated and defeated. Again, could it be staying in control of her life, her feelings, and minimizing the pain of losing him that she pushed him away? Wish we could get a director's (writers') cut on the DVD (haha).

What I sometimes think El Diablo is hoping for is for Camila to become another Hissadora and future partner in crime. Alternatively he might think about ditching future risks and taking Camila offshore (where he must have hidden most of his dinero) and locking her up in a creepy mansion on the island of Martinique or some such place.
What I can't figure out is whether he gets off on her unwillingness. Does he get off on the idea of raping her? Sadly, that would be consistent with CE's past villains.
Remember in Sortilegio, a bad doctor gave the main character a drug and she forgot her past. That's what Dion needs.
When Hissadora arranged for Bruno to release the bulls with Camila in their path and she sent El Diablo to "rescue" her, I believe she intended for him to die as well. That should have occurred to him if it hasn't.
Will Dionisio be another case of one man and two women? Ain't gonna happen, but I'm just making the observation.
When I commented about Luz's plan being bizarre, I hadn't read the comments yet. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought it is a cockeyed idea--even given what she's gone through. Beanie moment for me.
Anita, El Diablo already had two women: Augustina and Hissadora.
