Amor Bravío #139 (Uni 134) Tue 3/5/13 La Malquerida is spared while Hissadora takes one giant step toward the Anvil.

Buenaventura
Mariano continues his efforts to warn his father against the evil vamp known to us a Hissadora.  Cayetansordo refuses to heed his sons warning.  He can’t believe his loverly Hissie would be capable of such an atrocious (atroz) act as murdering a priest!  Mariano isn’t ready to accuse her of murder but he thinks she’s hiding something.  Now he lays it on him that Refugio saw Dionicio visiting Hissadora while she was staying in Metepec.  Cayetansordo is aghast!  His Hisse has no dealings with Agustina’s husband.  How would that be possible when all the Monterdes hate her?  Mariano feels Refugio would have no reason to lie.  He only asks that his father open his eyes and take precautions.  Cayetansiego thinks its simply a case of mistaken identity by Refugio.  She’s an old woman and no longer sees well (uh, pot calling kettle…..).  Mariano is frustrated and suggests that possibly it’s Cayetansiego who refuses to see.  Caretantarugo: “ Hissadora is now my wife and as such I respect her and support her.  I can’t judge her.  Even the authorities haven’t found her responsible yet, and you should do the same!”  Mariano urges him to be careful and revoke the control her gave her over the property.  That did it, Cayetansiego is outraged and slams his hand on the desk, “Basta!  Hissadora is an honest woman!  She’s given me some incredible moments (oof!).  As soon as she’s out of the pokey, she’ll live here.  So you need to think about whether or not you want to continue to live under the same roof as her.  From this day forward she is the dueña and Señora of this house.”  Mariano stares him square in the face and tells him, “Fine, don’t worry about it.  By the time she arrives, Ana and I will have moved out!”  He leaves. So, let’s see, Pablo’s already out, Yago’s just about out, so now he’s Cayetansolo

La Malquerida
Dionicio is on the phone with Omar who explains he’s still at the airport.  The flight’s just arrived and he’s at customs waiting for the vaccines and he’ll make sure they don’t get through.  He’ll let him know as soon as the vaccines have been detained.  Dionicio’s perturbed.

Town
Irene and Luzma share a little girl talk. Luzma swears her to secrecy and then pours out her heart about the lack of marital intimacy with her husband.  At first, it was because of the miscarriage and now it was because it brought back awful memories about what happen with her uncle.  She already spoke with the therapist who assured her it’s normal for victims of rape to react this way.  Luzma’s afraid she may not be able to overcome this and Pablo will eventually get tired of this.  She’s afraid she may not be able to give Pablo the happiness he deserves.

La Malquerida
Pablo arrives at the office and Mayalen is already there.  She tells him she looked for him to carpool but he was already gone.  Pablo explains he wanted to distract himself by taking an early ride and left early.  He tells her there’s nothing going on.  She reminds him she’s there for him.  He can tell her anything.  (ruh-roh, there goes my spidey sense again – stay away from him,  you junior vamp, you)  He thanks her but repeats that everything is fine.  (good boy!)  He asks about the vaccines and they get back to business.  (way to diffuse the vamping, Pablo!)

Cam’s Cabaña
Ozzie has come by to tell Cami about Hissadora’s arrest!  Agustina overhears and is shocked to hear Hissadora stands accused of Padre Baldomero’s murder!  Cam explains Leoncerdo was able to confess that Hissadora hired him to kill the good padre and when he failed, Hissadora finished the job.  She also explains there’s a witness who saw her enter the Hostal at the same time as Padre was murdered.  Agustina can’t believe it.  That woman, Hissdora, knows no limts.  Imagine anyone wanting to murder a priest.  Ozzie explains the theory that Hissadora wanted Baldomero dead because he had discovered the plot between her and Alonso to provide Daniel’s falsified death certificate.  Ozzie explains Amanda may also need to testify.  She was able to communicate with Baldomero and he had told her someone from LMQ had tried to kill him.  Agustina thinks this somehow proves Hissadora really did intend to kill Camila.  Camila doesn’t think there’s enough evidence to accuse her since the vaquero that called her over to look at the “sick” bull is no longer in the area.  Agustina says Hissadora is the devil!  She doesn’t know why it should surprise herwhen Hissadora was also accused of trying to kill Alonso in that accident, the accident that killed her Ximena.  Camila tries to console her by saying that Hissadora will hopefully begin to pay for her crimes.  Agustina wholeheartedly agrees.

Hoosegow
Speak of the devil (jaja!), she’s visited by her attorney and Cayetantonto.  Ever the dutiful hubby, Cayetantarugo is there with a blankie and a paper sack of goodies for the little woman.  Her attorney advises her he tried to post bail but there’s no way to get her out of here until all the evidence against her has been heard.  Only then can they see if there is any legal recourse.  Hissadora wonders how this can be when she’s innocent!  The attorney basically says he’s just doing his job.  She can be held for 72 hours and he’ll do what he can to escalate whatever he can.  Hissadora can’t believe they’re giving more weight to a woman who doesn’t even know her (the witness), a crook (he-who-shall-not-be-name), or Daniel Diaz Acosta who is supposedly dying!  Suddenly lucid Cayetano wonders how she know about Daniel’s illness?  She tries to gaslight him, telling him he told her.  Nooooo, Cayetano just found out this morning from Mariano but he never told her.  She then says someone around here must’ve said something.  Bottom line, it can’t be that they have more of a say in this than she does!  Attorney reminds her there are three witnesses, it won’t be easy.  He’ll do his best to discredit them to show their testimony isn’t enough to find her guilty.  “I’m not!  So it should be easy for you to prove it!”  Attorney wisely chooses to leave now before her claws can shred him to pieces.  Cayetano hands over his gifts.  Hissadora:  “This place is horrible.  I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.  It’s obvious that Daniel’s hatred for me has no limits.”  Cayetano agrees it appears she has a few enemys. (duh, ya think?)  He now dares to ask her about Dionicio’s visits to her at the hotel.  He explains Refugio saw him enter her room. Always  quick on her little claws, she explains she has no connections with Dionicio, but he did have one with Alonso.  Cayetano: “duh, is that why Refugio saw him with you?”  Hissadora assures him that’s the case and then she’s “hurt” to even think he could be influenced by others against her.  Why, she would just die if he were to turn against her!  He’s the only thing she has left, the only thing that keeps her going.   Well, the blinders are now securely over his eyes once again and Cayetansiego kisses her hands as she thoughtbubbles:  “Dionicio has to help me get out of here.  If I go down, he goes down with me!”

La Malquerida
Dionicio leaves the den and Agustina literally runs up to him, giving him the news that Hissadora stands accused of murdering the good Padre Baldomero.  Dion thoughtbubbles, “No puede ser!  If they’re able to prove her responsible, they’ll know everything. No way am I going to end up like her!”  Agustina keeps blabbing on about how Hissadora’s in jail and she hopes she’ll stay there forever!  For once, Dionicio is speechless.

Toluca Airport
The fair Maid Miriam waits with Mariano for the vaccines.  She’s anxious for their arrival.  Mariano explains the exhaustive health measures taken to bring the vaccines through.  Mariano is sure her brother also realized her anxiety in wanting the vaccines to reach Daniel immediately.  He originally thought the vaccines would arrive on a commercial flight to Mexico City and not to Toluca on a private plane.  Miriam is certain her brother thought of all that to ensure it would arrive faster.  She thanks Mariano for accompanying her to the airport.  She assumes he must be busy with a lot to do.  He admits he had a busy morning scheduled but this is more important.  He then explains about his buffoon of a father marrying a woman who is sure to be all wrong for him.  In order to avoid any problems, he’s decided to move out.  He explains about his house on the back 40 but it’s not finished yet.  Camila had promised to help with the décor but with everything that’s happened, she obviously hasn’t had time.  Miriam promises that as soon as Daniel is well and while they wait to return to Chile, he can count on her to help.  (do I hear Cupid’s little wings fluttering as he prepares his arrow?)  The vaccines finally arrive.  Gaston provides instructions and the paperwork.  She gives him a message to ask Abraham to call, she needs to speak with him about something urgent.  He agrees and leaves to return to Chile.  He had promised Abraham to personally hand over the vaccines to her and he’s completed his task. She thanks him for helping to save Daniel’s life.  Mariano calls Camila.

Cam’s Cabaña
Camila thanks God.  Vivi and Rafa walk in and she gives them the good news.  She starts to give out instructions.  Rafa leaves to carry them out.  Vivi sees the change in Camila’s face.  Camila’s just happy Daniel will surely recover.  Camila notices something’s up with Vivi and asks her to come out with it already.  Vivi admits something is wrong.  Cami admits she also has something to share.  Apparently Miriram has found out a few things, but she wants to hear Vivi’s news first.

LMQ Den
Dion is pacing frantically, on the phone with Rufino.  He wants Hissadora’s case thoroughly investigated.  He explains she’s detained in the Alculco delegación.  He needs to know about the evidence, who’s accusing her, everything!  He wants that info now!

Pablo/Luzma Home
Refugio is on the phone with Amanda.  She’s calling on Rocio’s behalf.  Rocio has heard about the wedding and the blessed event and wants to meet Natalia.  Amanda signals to Natalia who definitely doesn’t want to meet the ex-banshee.  Amanda frankly tells Refugio that Rocio wasn’t very nice to Luzma when she married Pablo and she wouldn’t want Natalia to suffer the same fate.  Refugio assures her Rocio is a changed woman and won’t reject her.  Rocio tells Refugio to convey that they shouldn’t be afraid of her.  Refugio explains they’re now living with Luzma and Pablo.  Nati and Amanda can come visit them there.  Amanda  agrees to pass on the info.  If Nati agrees, she’ll call.  Rufi tells  Rocio she’s not sure Nati will come over.  She reminds her that she really hurt Luzma.  Not everyone is as forgiving. You reap what you sow and now they must wait.

Amanda’s Hostal
Nati asks Mom’s advice.  She doesn’t know what to do.  Amanda thinks she should go.  Rocio is the one who’s reaching out.  Perhaps the stroke caused her to change as Rufi thinks.  Nati reluctantly agrees to go but wants Mums to come with her.

Buenaventura
Cayetano returns to his office to find his last remaining son waiting for him.  Yago wants to talk about the ceremonial “asking for the hand in marriage”, saying he thinks it would be best for them to go to LMQ to ask Dionicio for her hand.  Cayetano erupts.  He can’t believe Yago can think of asking for the hand of “esa muchachita” while Hissadora is being held.  He doesn’t want to discuss that right now.  Yago starts to protest, but Cayetano shuts him down, saying Yago is the same selfish lout he’s always been and only thinking of himself.  It doesn’t matter one bit what is happening to others.  Yago protests and says it’s just that this issue with Hissadora could last some time.  After all, they don’t need her to ask for Nati’s hand.  Oh, Cayetano disagrees.  Hissadora is his wife and she will go everywhere he does.  Until she’s free, they will not be going to LMQ to ask for Nati’s hand, or anywhere else for that matter.   “Are we clear?” Yago pouts and then pounces into action, “No, it’s not.  Hissdora stands accused of murdering Padre Baldomero!  Have you no idea of the gravity of this situation?  I would think that after this, you’re not going to stay with her, right?”  Cayetansiego most assuredly does plan to stay with her.  She’s innocent.  No, says Yago, they still need to prove that.  Cayetano now says he’ll tell him the same thing he told Mariano who has decided to leave the house.  If Yago doesn’t like it and doesn’t accept Hissadora, then he should do as his brother has and abandon Buenaventura!

Camila’s Cabaña
We come back to Vivi and Camila.  Vivi is surprised to hear Miriam’s found out some of Daniel’s story.  Camila is just as surprised Vivi and Rafa are having troubles.  She advises her to fight for this relationship.  They love each other right?  Vivi agrees she loves Rafa but it’s become complicated.  Camila jokes that no one ever said relationships or marriage were going to be easy.  She points out that Vivi and Rafa are free to be together and they should make the most of it (aprovechar).  As she continues with her advice, Miriam, Mariano, and Rafa come bursting in with the coolers containing the vaccine.  Miriams begs her to save her husband’s life.  Camila  takes Miriam by the hand and thanks her, not only for what she’s done for Daniel, but also for saving her livestock and LMQ.  She’s indebted to her.  Miriam says she’s the one indebted to Camila as she put her very life at risk to care for her husband.  She’ll never forget it.  Daniel wouldn’t have survived without her help.

Camila gets to work right away so she can give Daniel the vaccine.  Miriam plans to stay and see how Daniel reacts.  Camila asks Vivi to keep Miriam company and then asks Mariano and Rafa to help with the coordination to vaccinated the livestock.  She’s all action but stops before going to Daniel and thanks Miriam again, saying she’ll do everything to save him.  Vivi introduces herself to Miriam. We see Camila injecting Daniel and telling him he’ll be well very soon.

Vaqueros herding the bulls into the pens – Salúd!
Mariano and the rest of the vaqueros work to vaccinate the bulls as Rafa documents everything on his tablet.

Dionicio’s Home Office
Dionicio’s on the phone with Rufino who says it hasn’t been easy getting the facts.  He’s still at the police station and has had to pay out a lot of money (lana [slang]).  Dionicio doesn’t care about the lana, he wants to know what the he found out.  Rufino tells him he knows Daniel was the first accuser but there are two more.  One from a Soledad Garcia aka Doña Chonita and another written by he-who-shall-not-be-named.   Dionicio is surprised to learn he’s learned to write. He asks about the other one. Rufino tells him there’s  a neighbor of the Hostal who saw a woman fitting Hissadodra’s description leaving the Hostal the day and at the time Padre Baldomero died.  He can’t say if she’s sure it was Hissadora.  He doesn’t know anything about this last accuser but now he’s heard of a 4th accuser who just came forward this morning.  Her name is…….Amanda Jimenez! Dionicio can’t believe it.  He orders Rufino to get the deets on that other lady, he wants to know everything!

The Pokey
Juarez and Aaron visit he-who-shall-not-be-named.  Juarez explains he’ll have a face to face (careo) with Hissadora.  Aaron offers to be with him to ensure he can write everything he wants to say.  He asks if he’s up to it.  He gets a grunt and a laugh in response.  Juarez wants to know when they can start.  He-who-shall-not-be-named writes “OI” on his notepad.  It takes a couple of tries, but Sherlock Juarez and Aaron Watson  finally figure out he means “hoy”.

Back at the Ranch (LMQ)
Mariano is taking a breather and Pablo joins him.  They’ve had a rough day and Pablo shares it’s worse since he hasn’t slept well.  Mariano knows something’s bothering him and asks him to just tell him or he’ll worry more.  Pablo hesitates but does tell his big bro about the problem he and Luzma are having in the bedroom because of he-who-shall-not-be-named.  She’s still seeing a therapist but hasn’t been able to overcome (superar) this.  He knows he needs to be patient but he can’t stand to see her suffer this way.  Besides, they have to live as man and wife, not brother/sister.  He won’t deny how frustrated he is.  He loves and desires Luzma will all his soul.  But if she can’t overcome this, he’s afraid his marriage will suffer.

Church
Luzma is discussing this same subject with Padre Anselmo.  She feels one gets married in order to be with one’s partner in every sense.  Also to have children.  How can they have children if she can’t get past this?  Padre counsels her, saying last night’s bad experience doesn’t have to define her entire marriage.  He’s sure this is a temporary setback.  With help of the therapist, Pablo’s love, and her strength, she will overcome this.  Luzma plays Negative Nancy and wonders what will happen if that doesn’t come to pass.  Why should she ask Pablo to waste his time with her?  Padre doesn’t agree Pablo is wasting his time.  She can’t give up.  Luzma denies she will but they can’t overlook the possibility that she may not overcome her trauma.  Padre advises her to stop speculating and talk to Pablo.  He’s sure this is a problem they can overcome.  Luzma shares this was the same advice from the therapist but she’s just so tired of all this.  And if she feels that way, Pablo must be feeling the same way.  She doesn’t want to be a burden to him.  He tells her again not to speculate and not give in to negative thoughts.

Pablo/Luzma Home
Nati and Amanda have come to visit with Rocio.  Refugio makes the necessary introductions.  Rufi sings Luzma’s praises.  Speaking of Luzma, Rufi is worried she hasn’t returned yet.  Rocio offers them coffee and Amanda leaves to help her.  Nati and Rocio are left alone.  Rocio brings up the subject of marriage.  Nati continues in her starry eyed fog.  She’s hopelessly in love with Yago and now she knows he loves her too. (HA!)  In her state, Rocio still manages to complain that Yago still hasn’t forgiven her.  He hasn’t even come to see her, not even in the hospital.  Oh, Natie will have a talk with him and suggest they come together.  Rocio wonders if she can convince him.  Natie seems to think she has a way of convincing him to do things for her (She doesn’t realize Daddy’s henchmen are behind her requests).  She guarantees he’ll come see Rocio very soon.

Camila’s Cabaña
Camila leaves Daniel’s bedside and reports he had no negative reactions to the vaccine.  She admits to Vivi she hasn’t taken the vaccine herself (clue?).  Camila thinks it will be another 2-3 hours to see some improvements but assures Miriam everything should be ok.  Miriam doesn’t plan to leave and asks for the phone number to the cabin so she can leave it with the nanny.  Vivi offers to write it down for her and insists Camila take the vaccination.  Camila empathizes with Miriam.  She knows these next few hours will be difficult but she’s grateful the vaccines arrived in time.  Her self-injection gets interrupted (ruh-roh) because the tele is dead – oh snap!  In all the excitement the tele hasn’t been recharged.  Vivi offers to take Miriam to the big house to make the call and Cami can stay here and take the vaccine. We finally see her prepare the syringe for herself.

Dionicio’s House
Omar arrives at Dionicio’s den.  Dionicio anxiously asks if he was able to detain the vaccines.  Er, not exactly.  Omar informs him the vaccines weren’t on the plane, maybe they’ll be on tomorrow’s flight.  Dionicio makes sure Omar knows what to do once they arrive.  Omar gave very clear instructions that the vaccines can’t be released for at least 1 week.  Dionicio sends him off to the police station.  He wants Omar to relieve Rufino and have him report back to Dionicio’s office.  Omar is to stay at the station keep him informed about Hissadora.  Omar makes a face indicating… QTH?  Dionicio orders him to stop with the face and have Rufino bring him up to date so he can report back anything new.  Left alone, Dionicio talks to himself hoping those vaccines never arrive.  (haha, too late)

Pablo/Luzma Home
Nati continues to share her wedding plans with Rocio, saying they haven’t set a date.  They’re waiting for Cayetano to return from his honeymoon so Yago can formally ask for her hand.  She slows down as she says this last bit, knowing she’s put her foot in it.  She apologizes and says she would like to have Rocio there but feels it would be uncomfortable for Rocio to be around Hissadora.  Rocio feels Hissadora shameless and Amanda agrees.  She’s only brought harm to those around her.  She doesn’t even think Hissdora would want to come.  Nati is sure she’ll attend.  She’s Cayetano’s wife and he’s sure to bring her.  That’s not all, says Amanda.  She’s also been arrested!  She tells them Hissadora has been accused of Baldomero’s murder.  Rocio knew she’d be the ruin of everyone!

Speak of the She-Devil
Her attorney has come to advise her and Cayetano that one of the witnesses has arrived.  Hissadora is ready to face her accuser.  She’s got nothing to hide.  Cayetano chimes in that he believes in her innocence.  She wonders who the accuser is and her attorney announces it’s He-Who-Shall-Not-be-Name!  Tan-tan-TAN!  The attorney will come for her as soon as he’s arrived.  She takes a big gulp and then says she’s ready whenever he is.  Cayetano admires her fortitude.

Delegación
Juarez is given the news that the fingerprints can’t be definitely matched between Dionicio Ferrer and Hector Gutierrez.  An original document for Dionicio Ferrer must be submitted.  The photocopy provided won’t work.  Uh-oh!  Omar heard this whole exchange!

LMQ Main House
Vivi and Miriam enter.  Vivi explains how she met Rafa.  They talk about how love comes when one least expects it.  Vivi agrees that’s how it was with her and Rafa, just like it was with, er, well with a lot of couples.  Miriam eventually gets around to asking if Vivi met Daniel through Rafa.   Miriam notices Daniel was beginning to make a  life for himself in Mexicio.  And why not, he thought she was dead.  Vivi gets a sick look on her face.  Miriam  tells her she shouldn’t think she is trying to get information out of her.  She’s just trying to understand what happened to him when she wasn’t part of his life.  Vivi understands but says Daniel and Abraham asked them not to say anything.  Not so much to deceive her but to protect her in her frail state.  That’s what Miriam still doesn’t understand but oh well, Daniel and Abraham will tell her in time.  Vivi finally hands her the phone so they can get to what they came here for to begin with (to give the nanny the phone number to Cam’s Bungalow—I almost forgot!).  Vivi rolls her eyes in frustration at having been put to the test like this.

Pablo and Luzma’s Home
Luzma finally returns and explains to Rufi that she had gone to visit with Irene.  Rufi explains they were a little worried about her.  She also tells her that Nati and Amanda came by to visit Rocio.  Rocio’s resting now.  Luzma tries to go get some shuteye as well but Rufi stops her with the dicho of the day, “Cuando un gallo no canta, es por que algo tiene en la garganta.”  (when a rooster doesn’t crow, it means something’s stuck in his throat)  She wonders what’s up with Luzma, why is she so sad?  Luzma denies this and doesn’t explain anything.  She goes off to rest.

Battle of the thoughbubbles at  La Delegacion
He-who=shall-not-be-name is staring at Hissadora through the bars.  She stares right back at him.  We hear his thoughts, “Mendiga vieja, this time you’r not going to get away, desgraciada.  You’re going to pay for everything you did to me.”  Not to be left out, Hissadora’s thoughts are heard as well, “I should have killed you when I had the chance.  It isn’t possible that although mute, you can cause me so much harm.”  He thoughbubbles back, “You’ll regret having cut out my tongue.”

Camila’s Cabaña
Miriam and Vivi enter the bedroom and Cami gives them the good news that his pulse is strong and his fever is gone. Miriam goes to Daniel’s bedside as he comes to.  Camila has gone to stand by the door with Vivi.  Daniel appears to look at Miriam and we see a fuzzy Camila (is he thinking he’s looking at Camila?---I’m confused)  He finally speaks and says, “Mi Amor, que hace aqui?  Te Amo”

Help! I was confused by the ending. Does Daniel think he's seeing Camila?and that's who he thinks he's talking to? What did he mean by "Que hace aqui?"

And QTH? No scenes with Rodolfo*sigh*??? I'm miffed.

Thanks Paquita! I think that Dan saw a blurry Camila in the distance, in front of him, but didn't see the adjacent MM. I think that Dan in a confused state may blurt out the truth himself.

I also continue to vote that Omar has a heart. I think that he only poisoned some of the bulls, and that he "let" the vaccines in without sabotage.

With Daniel asking what are you doing here, he may think that he's at his house. No se ...

Good work, Paquita. I apologise to all for disappearing last evening, but I met Anita in the city for coffee and ended up accompanying her to the opera; only just got home an hour ago.

Per a comment from yesterday's discussion I think that the main drama for the <30 remaining episodes is going to be about El Diablo's obsession with Camila and all other main anvils Acme has prepared for these characters.

See you later; I'm wiped.

Paquita, Thank you for the funny and complete recap. I loved all of the plays on that old fool's name -- including the "suddenly lucid" Cayetano. I have always enjoyed the words "hoosegow" and "pokey" for jail -- God knows the origins of these things, but they make me laugh.

I so enjoyed Dioniosio foiled again, as in where the heck is the vaccine, Omar. Too bad that Omar picked up on the fingerprint problem.

So many anvils, so many characters we want to be happy. Lots of work through in the next few weeks.

Yay!!! Snow Day!!! :) There's actually not much snow right now, but DC is shut down and so is my office. And what a great way to start a snow day-- with one of Paquita's wonderful recaps. I'm sorry there was no Rodolfo sighting for you.

ITA with netgirl. Dan was looking straight ahead and saw Camila, not to his right side where Miriam is standing. Miriam didn't seem to notice, but Cam sure did.

It was nice to see Pablo and Luzma confide in people they trust. Maybe Pablo should also be seeing Luzma's psychologist? I think it would be good for him too. But I am very happy he is not opening up to Mayalen. That's the way affairs really start. First it's an emotional affair-- sharing things with the person that you should be sharing with your spouse- and then it turns physical. Best not to even allow the emotional intimacy.

It was also nice to see Cam and Vivi have some time for girl talk. Too bad they were interrupted.

Traveling Lady- I don't know where pokey originates, but hoosegow comes from Spanish, and from Mexico specifically-- el juzgado. Pretty cool, huh?

Hoosegow from juzgado -- wow! I had no idea.

Thanks, Vivi, and enjoy your "snow day". I had been dreaming of the same for north Jersey, but so far nada. Off to work I go!

Urban- Isn't Anita such a lovely, sweet, and funny woman? I am sure you two had a great time.

Anita- I'm looking forward to our Cinco de Mayo outing!

Paquita! Gracias! Loved every word, especially:
"the ex-banshee" & "Battle of the thoughtbubbles at  La Delegacion".

Are those the same coolers they used to transport the virus. Multi-purpose!

@TL hoosegow is a gringo pronunciation of the Spanish word juzgado, meaning courtroom, and by extension, prison [ from past participle of juzgar, to judge]

I think we are supposed to be confused about who is being called "mi amor". It makes for more of a cliffhanger, especially coming at the end of the episode.

And as for Omar, perhaps the overhearing will make him realize he's on a sinking ship. He could get outta Dodge while the getting is good, or he could trade evidence for good time. Criminals and loyalty only go so far. And it's becoming evident that Dio's Dynasty is developing leaks
—Agnes

She is, Vivi. I first met her in December when she came up for another Met performance. Her friend became ill yesterday afternoon and couldn't go to the evening performance (which was 6 hours long!).

She was worried about the weather and your report this morning is not what she wanted to hear. I hope all goes well on her return trip.

Paquita- Your pot-kettle quip about Cayetano when he was being blind and saying that Refugio is old and blind was perfect. I thought it also applied when he called Yago self-centered, when he was being the same way! Where does he think Yago got it from? Well, actually, he got it from both his parents.

Seriously, how did Mariano and Pablo turn out the way they did? Refugio must have had a large part in raising Mariano and imparting her values-- first borns seem to have close ties with their nanas. And Mariano must have had a large part in raising Pablo and imparting those same values.

Hoosegow from juzgado? How cool is that! Did y'all know bucaroo originates from vaquero?

Tks Paquita

Most of the dictionaries say origin unknown for pokey but one says "in a slang sense, to confine" dates to 1919. I guess to poke in la carcel, thus pokey.

Paquita- I did know that about buckaroo/vaquero. I love etymology! It's so interesting to see how and where we get words, especially the most colorful ones.

I just looked at a bunch of sites for pokey. It's mostly a mystery, but a few sites think it comes from pogey, which meant workhouse/poorhouse in late 19th century English slang. That makes a certain amount of sense.

In any case, I hope Isa is in the pokey for a long time. But it looks like star witness Dona Chonita is about to run into some trouble, in the form of Dio and his henchies. They need to put her in witness protection, now.

I agree except that until someone explains the connexion between Hissadora and El Diablo to Sherlock Juarez, nobody will realize they need to.

Loved your recap, Paquita. It cleared up several scenes that I didn't fully understand, and of course the entire recap was full of your delightful wit.

I enjoyed all the riffs on "Cayetano", including Cayetansolo. And I especially liked your description of Hissadora "always quick on her little claws."

Agnes, I too was/am thinking that perhaps Omar will bail out both because he has no desire to go down with the sinking SS Dionisio and also, perhaps, because he's got more of a moral sense than his boss. So perhaps his hearing about the fingerprints won't get reported back to El Diablo.

I sure hope that Camila listened to Vivi and did take the vaccine herself. I don't think I could stand exchanging Dan at death's door for Camila.

Oy, Numbskull Natalia is still as starry-eyed as ever. Girl, when even your novio's mother calls him difficult and uncaring, you should pay careful attention.

Hmmm...I wonder whether Abe arranged for a private plane to land at a different airport not only so that the vaccine would arrive more quickly but so that it would arrive at all. He knows that Dionisio is up to no good.

I agree with LXV that we're probably supposed to be a bit confused about who Dan is referring to when he says te amo. But the blurred image we saw through his eyes did indeed look like Camila. Miriam, though, will assume he's addressing her, not Camila. Like netgirl, I'm wondering whether Dan in his confusion may soltar la sopa.

Traveling Lady, don't despair. If the forecasts down here in Maryland/DC are correct, you're likely to get a snow day tomorrow.

Thank you, Paquita, for a great recap. Love all your nicknames for Cayetano...LOL.

So glad Mariano stood up to Papa. How ciego, sordo, y tonto can he be?

I too thought Daniel was seeing Camila when he said, "Te amo," and I thought "Que hace aqui" meant in this context "What's going on here?"

I did think Omar let those vaccines go through, and his statement about them being detained for at least a week was to give them time to do their magic. Wonder if he'll tell Dio what he overheard at the police station.

So great to see Dio squirm on a pretty regular basis right now. Now, Leo has to take care of Isa big time.

I was confused about Omar waiting to intercept the vaccines, but I get it now. He was at the wrong airport, thinking it was a commercial flight.
TG it came in by private plane. I was hoping Gaston would stick around, he is cute & we could use another guapo love interest.

Omar has done too many bad deeds to be redeemed, unless he turns against Dionicio & provides evidence, which it kind of looks might happen.

Variopinta- I also believe he was at the wrong airport, as everyone expected the vaccines to come in on the Chile flight arriving in Mexico City. Even Mariano was suprised Abe chartered a private plane to go directly to Toluca.

I also wanted Gaston to stick around for a bit, but he does have important work to do in Chile. Liked seeing him in a cool leather jacket, instead of those suit jackets that are always too short for his long arms. :) Maybe when she's back in Chile, nurse Caridad can get to know Gaston...

Omar will squeal to save his own hide.

Ah, yes; Caridad needs a love interest. One who will take her to a restaurant with lots of good, rich food.

Thanks Paquita, great job. It does seem like Omar acted a bit differently in this episode than he has in the past. Usually he just says yes boss and gets busy. But last night he questioned one of Dion's orders about hanging out at the police station. So that has to mean something. I'm with all of you and am hoping he keeps his mouth shut about the fingerprints. Maybe even provide them with a better set?

Nat continues to boggle my mind. Does she really think she can sway Yago to come visit his mother? Has she not seen his behavior these past several months?

I can't wait to see the scene where Isa is yelling at Caye and what that's about. I'm assuming Leo has made a declaration about Isa cutting his tongue out too and not just about the padre's death.

Yes, that makes sense. Omar was at the wrong airport. Guess I gave him too much credit for having a somewhat good heart:)

So it looks like Miriam is Mariano's endgame (and vice versa)? Decorating his house appears to be the equivalent of foreplay, in TN terms.

I'm really confused on Omar and the airport and the vaccines. Was he expecting a commercial flight? Did Dionisio not hear about the private plane angle?

UtahDesert: "Decorating his house appears to be the equivalent of foreplay, in TN terms."

LOL! But Camila bought the furniture, so what does that mean? Is that the equivalent of deflowering him?

Cathyx- They say the best way to tell how a man will treat you down the road is to see how he treats his mama. Well, Nat just learned that Yago has not visited him mother since she had a major stroke! What the heck should that tell her? It's not even like the lies she told affected him directly-- it was Pablo who was affected, and he's the one caring for her. But Nat wants to keep those blinders on.

Just buying the furniture in a mall is so impersonal--it doesn't really count. When there's a scene with the woman in the man's house (of course the genders could be reversed, but I haven't seen it yet) making choices, placing things here and there, ideally with the man then coming in and appreciating it, then it's serious. I'm hoping that since Camila has already done the groundwork, Miriam can skip straight to the "standing in the living room and giving directions to the deliverymen" stage.

So Omar was at the wrong airport? I feel they could have done better story-telling there to make that clear for us.

UtahDesrt- I like that idea! Poor Teresa. Foiled again! Ha!

I don't think it was supposed to be clear to the audience about the airport thing. They wanted us to worry about Dio preventing the vaccines from getting to the ranch.

Just a quick comment before reading the recap.

UA: I agree with you re: Cam/Dio being the main drama. I just hope they don't go the TN cliche route and have a kidnapping. Unless someone kidnaps her to keep her safe. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

I agree; they wanted us to worry about whether Omar would be able to hijack those coolers. This is a lot like the last episodes of LQNPA.

Paquita - Thanks a bunch. Love the Cayetano name rifts.

I guess I must like Rocio now, because she looks more attractive to me. I think she got a new haircut since the stroke.

Poor Nat. Is is possible she'll wake up when she sees Yago's reaction when she asks him to visit his mom?

Niecie- She's wearing her real hair now instead of a wig. It's a softer look.

That's where I feel the timing was wrong. They should have been cutting back and forth between Omar and Mariano and Miriam. And then, most importantly they should have done the reveal about the wrong airport as soon as Mariano and Miriam were on their way, or at least once they arrived with the vaccines. Instead we get those confusing scenes with Omar assuring Dionisio he was on the watch--no tension there.

Since viewerville already knows about the two airports -- the suspense and reveal is being built for Dio's reaction -- last night he was gloating that he's won not realizing that Dan is already cured as well as the cattle @ LMQ .

Tonight and tomorrow episodes are must see.

Myo-

Thank you, Paquita, for a witty and thorough recap. Great job!

I don’t think Caridad needs rich food. She could use a session with the “What Not to Wear” folks, however.

Omar was startled several episodes ago when Dio told him to poison the bulls. I think cracks are starting to show, but he’ll be loyal until he has to save his own hide.

I’ve been confused about the airport they’ve been using for some time, but figured it was a beanie wearing situation. Miriam and her entourage arrived by airport car, which would be a heck of a long way from Juarez, the Mexico City airport, like 2-3 hours, depending on traffic. I was surprised by that, but what do I know about how the super rich travel. Then Dan took Abe to the Toluca airport, which is perhaps a bit closer, like a 1 or 2 hour drive (that’s a guess and Toluca can have ferocious traffic as well), but it made no sense to me at all. It may be an international airport, but it is primarily used for domestic flights and sure wouldn’t have direct flights to Chile. The same for Caye and Isa going to the Bahamas; it would make no sense to fly out Toluca instead of Juarez. I figured it was some sort of PSA or promotional deal for using the new airport in Toluca as an alternative to the super busy Juarez.

It seems to me that Dio didn’t get the message about the private jet. I think that most Mexicans would assume that an international flight was going to land at Juarez, so maybe the writers felt it didn’t need explaining.

Carolina- I just figured everyone was just getting connecting flights in Toluca to their international flights out of D.F. For example, Cayetano and Isa made a point of mentioning they were going to Mexico City to then take their trip to the Bahamas. I figured Abe did the same when he left for Chile-- Toluca to D.F. to Chile.

That's what I thought. And if Abe was going to take the trouble and pay the bill for a private plane he'd arrange for it to arrive at the nearest airport.

Vivi and UA, there are no flights from Toluca to Juarez because it makes no sense to fly from one to the other. If they are starting in Aculco and the driving time is at most one hour difference, why pay or take the time to fly from one airport to the other that also serves the area? That would be like flying from LaGuardia to JFK or Galwick to Heathrow or National to Dulles to start a trip.

OK, I just checked and according to wiki, Toluca has only a few international flights, all to the US: Las Vegas, San Antonio, Dallas/FW, and Fort Lauderdale. Cargo service to Memphis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lic._Adolfo_L%C3%B3pez_Mateos_International_Airport

Well, at least now we know it made sense for Dio and Gussy to fly to Vegas from there.

UA, yes, that's what I would think about Abe and the private jet. Not only would it be faster, as Miriam said, but it would probably be easier and cheaper to use a regional airport instead of the super busy and crowded Juarez. Wiki says the new Toluca airport is being promoted "to handle some traffic for the city of Toluca, but it mainly serves as a low-cost carrier airport for Mexico City ..."

just from maps, it seems that they have taken some liberties with geography here. Metepec is a bit further from Aculco de Espinosa than Toluca. But except for Luzma's maternity clinic, every one is deposited at the Private hospital of Metepec. Between being the ambulance destination and folks seeming to come and go while visiting without losing the better part of the day, the ranches as still very close to Aculco, but somehow also far closer to the TolucaMetepec metro area than the map suggests.

Paquita: I don’t understand any of them, except “solo” one, but I’m amazed at all the nicknames you could come up with for Caye.

Maybe NG isn’t mini-evil. She definitely doesn’t know boundaries—speaking to Cam in the informal and telling info to Iago that was LMQ confidential. Maybe that’s all it is with her.

“Todo” seemed to be Dio’s favorite word this ep.

It looks like Caye is going to cause the delay Padre A., Amanda and Viewerville wanted for Nat’s wedding.

I like that Pablo didn’t just burst out with his highly personal stuff, like the American soaps do, telling everything to everybody. I like that he hesitated.

Flaco translated what Pablo said to Mariano re: Luz and his marriage a little harsher than you, Paquita. I was mad at Pablo for awhile, now I feel better. Pablo needs to go to the therapist, too, both with and without Luz. Now that she is feeling the way she is, she is ripe to misinterpret a situation between Pablo and NG. We know Pablo won’t stray, but if NG continues to flirt with him, Luz could build up scenarios in her head.

Really liked Amanda’s lace jacket she was wearing at Luz/Pablo’s house.

Though I didn’t understand a word they were saying, I loved the little thought bubble war of words between Leo and Isa.

Now on to the comments.

Nanette

Nanette- In addition to their thought bubble war, weren't their expressions great? If looks could kill, both Isa and Leo would have keeled over dead in that room.

I like that Pablo was honest about his own frustration, and real about how the whole situation could ruin his marriage (it could). But he made it clear that his real concern is Luzma's suffering.

Vivi: Flaco is giving the "if looks could kill" win to Leo. He thinks that Isa looked a little teeny tiny bit worried.

Thanks Paquita, this is excellent.

I don't have much to add here today, but I'm looking forward to seeing what Isadora is able to do with prison attire.

Carlos

Not everyone can wear tangerine.

Speaking of looks, the look on Yago's face when Cayo told him that Mariano was moving out was interesting. I was trying to decide if it was glee at being the only son left at BV or worry.

TN's definitely take liberties with geography. Remember Fuerza del destino. Ivan crossed the dessert from Mex right to LA w/o even hitching a ride. I had to run right to my road map of CA. He didn't go through San Diego & several other sizable towns. At least they left out that minor detail.

This TN has had fewer beanie moments than most.

The geographical liberties don't really bother me. And I was planning on ignoring the airport illogicality until this came up today about Omar being at the wrong airport.

They seem to have gone out of their way repeatedly to specify characters using the Toluca airport and I did think it was a PSA, even though I was pretty sure it didn't have service to some of the places people were supposed to be going or even any logical connections. (We can add Ana's flight from Zacatecas to that list, too.) It's a newly expanded airport and they need people to start to think of using it instead of Juarez. Okay. I don't have a problem with that, either. However, they are not really being that helpful if they are implying the airport has services that it doesn't actually have.

Okay. I'll buckle up my beanie now. Damn those script writers!

Cayetano making the comment to Mariano that Dio couldn't have anything to do with Isa because "all the Monterdes hate her" was laughable - Hello!! Since when is Dionicio a Monterde?

Omar definitely was at the wrong airport. Mariano even mentioned it to Miriam. He said he had assumed the vaccines would come in at the other, larger one but was glad it came in at this one. Miriam said, "yes, I'm sure Abram figured it would be better and faster (to get through customs) here." That made me realize right away that Omar was at the wrong airport. It would have been great to have Omar let them through, though.

Poor Natalia "Iago will do anything for me!" assuring her future MIL she would get a visit from her selfish son soon - she'll surely get an earful from the jerk as soon as she mentions it to him.

Soyyo

A couple months ago I was curious about where exactly Aculco and Metepec are in Mexico. I was on The Weather Channel's website and I typed in both. I looked at the map and saw they are quite far apart. The way the characters go to each town you'd think they are next door to each other but this is not the case. Definitely a beanie moment like in US soap operas when it's morning at one person's house and another is seen going out to dinner.

It's currently 79˚ in Aculco and 77˚ in Metepec. I've tried to remove them from my saved cities but there must be some glitch because it won't let me do it. I've hit the delete button many times and yet there they are on my home page telling me how wonderfully warm it is in Mexico while it's 37˚ where I live and a snow/rain nor'easter is arriving late tonight. :(

¡Ay últimos capítulos! ¿Qué voy a hacer? I wasn't so sure about AB when I first started watching it but I was pleasantly surprised. So glad I stuck with it.

Growing up in L.A., I always got a kick out of how quickly people in movies and shows would get from place to place, and go to locations that made no sense. Now that I live in D.C., I notice the same thing in movies and shows about D.C. It's not just tns that are guilty of this. :)

Soyyo- I really wondering what it will take for Nat to have an aha moment about Yago.

I always tell my friends that my novela buddies on Caray, Caray are so interesting and smart. We've had discussions of word origins today and the geography of Mexico, some great recap wordplay and quips, not to mention many thoughts about the novela itself. I wonder if the blogs about U.S. soap operas are anywhere near as encyclopedic and thoughtful.

Still no snow, Juanita. Sounds like you guys took the big east coast hit so far.

Sue, if it makes you feel any better, I bet it gets pretty cold in some of those places at night. I was a bit surprised to see when I looked up that airport info that Toluca was at about 8,500', so it could drop to the 30s at night. When I went to see the monarchs we stayed in a village at about that elevation and it was nice during the day, but when the sun went down it was COLD. There was very heavy frost and ice everywhere in the morning. Our hotel didn't really have any heat and I remember wearing my fleece jacket and gloves to bed. Brrr.

Vivi: "thought bubble war" LOL!

TL: my experience of the Days of Our Lives blogs had been people who are rude and nasty--not all of them, but quite a few. God forbid you should dislike a character someone else likes or rather see this person coupled with that person instead of the other person, if others don't agree. There are no rules of conduct on these boards and it shows.

That's what I love about this blog. Everyone is respectful and funny and interesting and would be that way even if there weren't the simple common courtesy rules that there are on this board (frankly, after the experiences I've had on IMDb, I think there should be common courtesy rules on all boards).

Just a quick aside about learning Spanish from telenovelas: I teach English one night a week at a local church. Some of the other teachers put Bible verses on the board, and I translated one into Spanish for a nice older man from Colombia. When I got stuck on the last word, "sinners," what do you think I came up with? ... "malditos"!

Interesting Aleta. I guess if you translate sinners as the damned, then malditos makes perfect sense.

My other choice was "mala gente," from the Juanes song.

Talking about the airport issue, I just assumed that it was at the same airport. A private plane can fly into any airport in the US, as long as it's a large enough airplane. They just have to taxi to a different part of the airport from the commercial planes. And I would assume that the airplane used to transport the vaccine was a larger private plane since it was coming all the way from Chile. But I did miss some dialog that pertained to the airports, so I may be misguided.

Aleta, my dictionary says sinner is a pecador.

I actually thought that Omar was expecting Abraham, and since Gaston made the delivery, he wasn't noticed.

Cathyx, yes, my Cuban friend Jacky, my walking dictionary, told me that. Then another friend told me that she thought a pecador was a matador. She was thinking of a picador.

I don't think there is any dispute about which airport the private plane used; it was clear that it was Toluca. What isn't completely clear to everyone is where Omar was. Most seem to think he was at the Mexico City airport, but he could have been in the wrong part of Toluca. I think we may hear more about this once Dio finds out that instead of being held in customs for a week, but vaccine has already been administered. Poor Omar, everyone's favorite bad guy, might be in hot water.

Traveling Lady, sorry that I may have disappointed you. The weather forecasters were saying that New Jersey would take a big hit after the storm left the DC area. But though they had predicted 5-8 inches of heavy, wet snow in DC, that never materialized. So I'm not sure how much faith to put in their predictions for New Jersey. As for me, I'm delighted. I need to be able to get around town tomorrow, and 5-8 inches of snow would have been a big problem.

Thanks Mena for your always enjoyable recap. My girl Isa sure is a convincing liar. If I didn’t know the whole story, I would believe her side of the story. Leo’s reaction to her lies was described very well by you: “This results in grunt, groans and cage rattling from speechless LeoSordido”.
