Amor Bravío #144 (Uni 139) Tue 3/12/13 The Teflon Kimodo
Labels: bravio
Yum. Chilaquiles.
Yes. Get a little liquor in you to loosen you up, Loosema. Irene scored big points with me with that advice, but we’ll see what she does with it. High potential for disaster, unfortunately.
What a judicial system. She who shouts loudest wins, I guess.
Is Padre Anselmo a great brother or what? I wasn’t sure how he’d react to his sis’ loose morals, but he came through like a champ. As did Aaron with Dante, as always. I am seeing a future for this couple and I like that.
Mole, super mmmm! I am impressed that Luzma knows how to make it since it isn’t the easiest thing to make. I didn’t follow that conversation and I thought MM said she wanted to learn, but of course not. That would be outside her little bubble.
Loved, loved, loved the engagement scene.
So just now Dan is figuring out that his and Camila’s plans don’t coincide? Good God. His plan to carry on with wife #1 doesn’t coincide, either. I wonder if he's thought of that.
I have a question about the justice system in Mexico: Do they have a version of double jeopardy? Would it be possible to re-arrest Hissadora on new evidence about the murder of the padre? They will ultimately get her on something, but the idea that this charge could go unanswered is wrong on every level.
It looks now that the only way to get her for the murders of Alonso and Ximena is by someone overhearing her talking with El Diablo. As for the murder of her first husband, I think it's a lost cause to expect her to pay for that.
Urban- They can also get Isa for the kidnapping of Camila, which is what the recording will prove, once it's cleaned up. And of course, she can be thrown in jail on the same fraud charges as Dio for their signed contract with the developers. Depending on how far she gets in her attempt to kill Cayetano, that might be another thing. They might still be able to get her for Padre B, as this was just a hearing to see if there was enough evidence to charge her with the crime, not the actual court hearing.
Anon207- Yes. Leo knows Al is dead. One of his many visitors told him soon after it happened. That's when he started to laser focus on getting revenge on Isa-- before that, he included them both, and Dio.
Carolina- "So just now Dan is figuring out that his and Camila’s plans don’t coincide? Good God. His plan to carry on with wife #1 doesn’t coincide, either. I wonder if he's thought of that." LOL! Dan is having a really hard time computing that by choosing Miriam, he is losing Camila, forever. And she doesn't want to be his amiga after he's gone.
Lots of good stuff with Teresa-Dante and Piedad-Hipolito. Loved the brother-sister talk, and the proposal scenes.
Speaking of Luzma, I feel so bad for her. It's harder and harder to see a good outcome here. I believe we will get there, but in real life this would take lots of time and lots of specialized therapy.
I was supertouched by the proposal. I like Hipolito, alway liked the actor, and thought it was so sweet when he told Luzma that he would treat her like a daughter and, oh, heck, she is his daughter. There's a girl who can use all the kindness and good parenting she can get.
Anselmo, what a guy. Such sweet advice for his sister. No priestly reserve there. He the new cura for a new day. (I love watching this while the world and my large Catholic family is awaiting smoke signals!)
This makes me wonder what the rather sexless Aaron will end up doing. Anselmo listened to Tere; Aaron listened to Dante. Very similar conversations, if Aaron puts a little more faith in fate.
And, as predicted, our dear Agustina is the worst spy that ever lived. Osvaldo needs to hear the end of the story that Camila started to share and wasn't able to finish and rescue her from this craziness.
Padre Anselmo is now getting close to being the perfect novela priest. I do, however, think that he needs to update his beliefs about pregnancy as a result of rape.
I think Aaron is sexless. I don't think he has any interest in women right now and that's ok. It would be refreshing to see a character who doesn't end up in a pairing, and is perfectly fine with that.
Luzma chose this option because she was under the impression that she had to complete the pregnancy in order to get DNA proof that it was Leoncerdo who raped her. Giving up the baby for adoption made her feel better about this. However, she could have had an abortion in D.F. before the 13th week and the products of conception could have been analyzed.
Anon207, the idea of Miriam wanting to learn to make mole is interesting and points to a possible pairing of her with Mariano. It's the logical next step after the cookies.
So, given the confines of his religion, I thought he reacted very well with Luzma. Other than Camila, he spoke with her in the most calm manner. Remember Piedad was calling the baby sucio, even though she wanted Luzma to keep and raise the baby. Camila told her if she decided on the abortion, she would be right there with her when she got it, but it was her choice. When Luzma did decide on the adoption, she told the Padre that it was the choice that was the least hard for her, because she was struggling with the idea of abortion, and it wasn't just related to wanting to wait for the DNA test-- it was also a huge moral struggle for her considering abortion. None of the choices were easy for her.
I would think, for a Catholic priest, that terminating a pregnancy (no matter how the conception happened...rape, immaculate, premarital, etc) would be against their beliefs. I can't see a Catholic priest telling someone "Well, you were raped so it's OK to terminate the pregnancy." I don't think any religious leader of any sect/denomination/faith is going to support that.
Luzma would have been traumatized whether she carried forth the pregnancy or not. She (and Pablo) actually need to go to a counselor...even though her doctor told her it was ok for her to have sex with Pablo, she may still be under the influence of pregnancy hormones as well as dealing with the trauma of being raped.
At any rate, Luzma needs to be discussing her sexual problems with Pablo, not Irene. What would Irene know about sex?
And yes, Dio's saying outloud the combination to his briefcase's lock was definitely a QTH beanie-tightening moment. My fear now is that he'll catch Agustina in the act of opening the briefcase. If she gets it open before he catches her, he'll probably find a way to kill her rather than just see her jailed for fraud.
I agree with all those who have applauded Anselmo's response to Teresa. Can we propose him as a candidate for Pope?
And speaking of magical wardrobes, I'm guessing Daniel keeps his inexhaustible store of charro suits at the Malquerida? The one today (somewhere between a light olive green and a tan) was a very sweet number. (I guess we're to assume that he had a few dozen made up for him when he was thinking he would be running the Malquerida with Camila? I hope the tailor's bill isn't one of those that's still to be paid...)
But one thing (of the many) I like about this show is how for the second half Daniel is regularly dressed up like a peacock while Camila is wearing her no-nonsense shirts and vests. I hate it when the women are stumbling around in the most inappropriate places and times wearing high heels and slinky dresses.
But I was ready to see Isadora released, just so we wouldn't have to see her in that awful negligee-like dress any more.
I too would like Roman to have his happy ending with Viviana and Rafa, but I would like that to take place with as little dialogue written for Roman as possible.
And I groaned as soon as I saw Roman standing next to the laptop. The soap cliche of a child accidentally deleting completed work is so, so old. I remember the same thing twenty-five years ago (seriously) on All My Children. So I was relieved when Vivi found that Roman had only minimized the file.
And don't get me started on the massive bandage Rafa has because of fragments of something in one eye. If he does end up blinded in one eye, and he's seeing the same doctor as Leoncio, he'll be wearing those several lengths of bandaging around his head for the rest of his life. I'm surprised they didn't feel a need to cover up his nose and mouth as well.
I also enjoy that Cam's wordrobe is fuss free and practical. Even the headbands, as frufru as they were, were practical, in that they kept her (product free) hair out of her face.
Vivi, ITA that Padre A’s beliefs about rape and abortion are not out-of-date for a Catholic priest, even though they certainly don’t jibe with my views. He was perhaps more tolerant of the abortion option than most priests would be. If he were counseling his parishioners to get abortions, even rape victims, he would soon be an ex-priest. This is why I cannot see Aaron ever joining the priesthood; he has much more modern views of a lot of things, and I can’t see him towing the line on church doctrine as he would have to do as a priest.
UTD, lol at your wardrobe and bandage observations! I keep wondering, now that Miriam has made herself at home in Camila’s bedroom, when she is going to open the closet and see Dan’s stockpile of charro suits. I assume that he left them there. I know one thing, if I were apart from my husband for some months and then found that he had a completely new wardrobe and no longer had not a single article that I recognized, I would have thought that was really, really odd. No luggage that he had before, either. Surely she would have noticed that he seemed to have come from Chile without anything?
Roman will be adopted by Vivi and Rafa; I'm sure of that. The first thing they need to do is give him etiquette lessons starting with the one about the Inside Voice.
I suppose that Leo doesn't have proof that Isa cut out his tongue, so that may not be an avenue to convict her.
The only way that Luzma will get over her problem is with therapy. The avances basically tell us that too.
I don't understand on TNs when they have women wear completely inappropriate clothing for daily tasks. Like Teresa helping Mariano with the furniture and Teresa helping her brother with the mess from the roof cave in. Doesn't she even own a pair of pants?
Also pertaining to Teresa, telling your brother about your sex life? I can't even imagine telling my brother about that. Not to say that people can't or shouldn't have that kind of relationship with their brother. I just wouldn't dream of discussing that with mine.
Also, per avances, I hope that someone walks in on Dion and Isa kissing. Caye would be great.
Aggie has the biggest anvil hanging over her head that I've ever seen on a TN.
UA and Carolina, yes, Carolina, Dio somehow intimidated the doctor into saying that Miriam was in very precarious health. But I thought Dan had then made an appointment with a second doctor to get confirmation. Apparently that meeting never took place, though I don't remember why not--was that when Dan fell ill with the virus? But now that he's well, I hope he goes ahead with plans for a second opinion.
I can't remember if Dan mentioned the second opinion or if it was just our opinions that he should get a second one. But I know that he never did it.
I don’t think Teresa thought about helping out at the site. She just hurried to see her brother.
Teresa and Anselmo’s relationship is a little bit different because he’s a priest. I know she said she wanted to talk to him as a sister, not a parishioner, but that was probably because she didn’t want it to be an official confessional thing she would have to make penance for. However, the fact that he is a priest—and probably her priest—makes it easier to talk to him about things “normal” brothers and sisters wouldn’t.
In this whole TN, I’ve never heard Dio say his briefcase combo out loud. It seems the closer we get to the end, the more beanie moments.
Loved that Hipolito gave the Laz yell when Piedad accepted him.
From the avances, I think Luz has finally pushed Pablo into NG’s arms.
Here would be a twist. This TN ends with these matchups: Cam/Dan, Miriam/Mariano, Teresa/Dante, Rafa/Vivi/Roman, Amanda/Os, Iago/Ileana (they deserve each other), Rodolfo/Nat (she doesn’t deserve him), Rocio/Cayetano, Dorotea/Eleutario. But Pablo and Luz break up.
Nanette
I would cry if at the end PabLuz isn't a couple anymore.
What more proof does Leonicio need, he is tongueless & he saw Iza carving on him?
Also, was that a trial Iza had or a hearing to determine if there s/b a trial? If not a trial it wouldn't be double jeopardy if she was charged again.
On a serious note Agustina is in trouble, either she a. Ends up in jail for fraud or B. Dies, I don't see this ending well for her, why why why did she never question the need to have a license to sell the life insurance?
I want some cookies now too. :)
New Pope just elected-- seems he's the first non-European Pope, and he's from Argentina.
Back to our story, I agree with Elle.
I feel, too, that the Pablo-Luzma future is very dim right now and worry that she may be the good guy that won't survive. Please, no, writers.
I think the proceeding against Isa was like our grand jury. It was to determine if there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial, only instead of a jury, it was just a single judge making the decision. If it works like ours does, if more evidence is found, charges can be brought again without double jeopardy.
Is anyone else starting to think that Yago might get the old kibosh with the old anvil? That would tidy up a lot of things in a hurry and the world would be a better place.
Or does anyone else think that Cayo and Rocio will both be redeemed enough to be together again? I see them both as basically good but flawed people who have done stupid things. They did have an enduring and successful marriage (with a few bumps along the way) until the she-devil came along. Assuming Isa get her just desserts, I wouldn’t want the two of them to both be single in the end.
Wouldn’t it be fun if Piedad ended up pregnant? She’s probably no older than early forties, so not too likely, but, hey, it’s TN Land. Anything can happen, right?
And I would love to see Caridad indulge her secret passion for bad boys and run off with Omar. ;) Then they could do a sequel all about how that didn’t work out.
As much as I enjoyed seeing Isadora in that dress, I'm so glad that she's going to get out of it a get to take a bath.
Variopinta,
I'm with you. Leoncio has no tongue, Isadora cut it out. Case closed.
Next!
Carlos
I love how they are working with Rafa and Ramon, the scales in his eyes are now making it possible for him to spend time with Ramon, so maybe this will be what leads him to shed the scales in his heart and change his mind about the adoption.
I've probably missed something or misunderstood something because I don't understand why so many in Viewerville thinks that Miriam should wonder why Dan's closet doesn't include any of his wardrobe from Chile.i Does she think he had those things with him in prision, packed them and then flew to Mexico first class? If that subject comes up, why wouldn't he just tell her the truth about how he arrived with just the clothes on his back.
I'll be signing off now. I'll be at a Bach concert tonight. His Mass in B Minor, believe it or not.
What a great brother Padre Anselmo is, advising Teresa without laying a guilt trip on her. Plus he's so cute. I'll bet half the female congregation has a crush on him.
Maybe Dio said his briefcase combination out loud on purpose, hoping to trap Augustina when she tries to open it. They didn't show this was the case, but you never know with him.
Rafa with one eye patch ... cute pirate!
Padre Anselmo would never counsel someone to have an abortion, of course, but if Luzma had decided on that course of action, he would be the first one there to counsel her and help her through the after-effects (along with a therapist, of course). He would never turn his back on any of his parishioners, regardless of what they had done.
Teresa was dressed inappropriately to help Mariano move and her brother at the orphanage, but each time it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, not planned. If she had made plans to do those things, I believe she would have been dressed accordingly.
Vivi, I'm with you. I'll cry too if Pablo and Luzma break up. I don't think it's going to happen. That would be way to cruel after everything Luzma's been through.
ITA Anon 6:56. In fact, we saw Teresa in jeans and boots the time she was with Aaron in the fields of his new self-sustaining community. That was obviously a planned visit.
BTW--I was doing my own LOL with Teresa helping at the Orfanato in heels and a skimpy dress. My take is that she didn't have access to Dan's quick-change phone booth before they bolted out of Amanda's hostal.
Dio was certainly inconsiderate ordering Gussy to fix a fancy meal on what, a couple of hours advance notice? I would have walked out on him right then and there.
UA--agree with Carolina. We know Miriam's health to be a lie. We watched Dio compromise the doctor. It's Dan and the Scoobies that don't know it's a lie.
Dio's bag of tricks is bribery and menacing, followed by physical threats. He so has kept his hands clean, the rat.
I'm down to Vivi's comment about the medallion now. I know she's been wearing the cow skull ever since the formal break-up. Is she wearing both now?
Carolina--Remember that Dan was washed up on shore with nothing but shirt and pants. Everything else he acquired on the way to Aculco. He even acquired the medallion he gave to Camila after he got to Mexico. There's no reason for MM to have recognized any of his clothes, but it was a LOL funny comment anyway.
I think Carolina's question was about why Miriam at first (before she knew about the prison break) wasn't more curious about why Dan didn't have his familiar clothes and other items-- not why Dan didn't have those those things. The audience knows why, but at first Miriam wouldn't have known why.
I don't have a husband, so I wouldn't ask, but I see Carolina's point. Miriam did ask when she first moved into the MQ bedroom where all his stuff was. She looked in the drawers and the bathroom. That's when Dan did that whole song and dance about staying in a far part of the hacienda for his privacy. And I already mentioned the time she asked about the charro suits and insisted that would change once they were off the ranch.
:-)
I thought I was the only one who found Roman annoying but didn't say so because I didn't want to sound like an old meanie. Now I don't feel bad because since Vivi adores him he's going to luck out in the long run.
Are we going to see Alonzo's mother again?
Miriam asked where Dan's clothes were when she first was looking around her bedroom at the MalQ, and of course they weren't there because he was shacking up with Camila. Auggie, bless her heart, had them sent over to the bedroom in the big house. But Miriam never said anything about all of his clothes and other possessions being new and unfamiliar to her. If my husband suddenly had all new underwear, let me tell you, I would most definitely be QTH!
Oh, wait a minute. I just realized what I am missing. My beanie. :)
