Amor Bravío #156 (Uni 151) Thu 3/28/13 Amor Aburrido

I think Leo being carried out like the garbage he is actually refrito from yesterday, but Mr. 5ft was walking through the living room when it aired tonight, so I wanted to share with those of you who are concerned about his general well being (and especially his snarky comments) that he finds it unfortunate that it wasn't one of those trash-compacting garbage trucks.

Daniel is surprised that Camila backs Mariano up in asking him not to be at the meeting with Dio.  He agrees, pouts, and tells Camila she can always count on him.  Mariano apologizes to Camila for running Dan off, but they agree it was necessary.

Natalia tells Luzma, in confidence, that Yago was only marrying her because her daddy threatened to kill him and gave him lots of money.  She feels incredibly stupid for believing that vile delinquent!  Luzma is now playing the "but he loves you!" tune.  Well, Natalia now knows that Dio is only being affectionate to hurt her mother. She's pissed that both her dad and Yago are such filthy rats.  Natalia is ready to get revenge now.  She'll tell her plan to Luzma, but only if she swears not to tell.  "They'll regret messing with me!"

At Casa Mariano, Rocio is doing much better and has been given the green light by her doctor to get on with her usual activities.  She didn't tell Pablo she had an appointment because she didn't want to bother him.  Refugio says life is getting back to normal.  Pablo tells them that it seems Cayetano is back to normal as well--he's even splitting Buenaventura into 4 parts and giving Pablo one of them.  Refugio credits the Virgen with this milagro.  Pablo's glad his dad still loves him.  Rocio is glad too, especially that Pablo hasn't lost his father's love.

Isadora runs the maid out of the kitchen to buy some fresh pan dulce (sweet bread, pastries--usually fairly dry so they're excellent for dunking in coffee in the morning ) at the market, cause she likes her pan dulce warm.  Unlike her men.  Welcome to Cocina de La Viuda Negra where today we're cooking up some Love Potion #10 for those times when #9 just isn't good enough.  You'll need a nice big stock pot, fresh water, evil herbs, and the patience to boil it to a consistency that almost eats through your cookware, but not quite.  When the steam above the pot looks like a skull and crossbones, that's when it's ready to take off the heat, strain, and serve with some strong whiskey and a pen.

Daniel goes to Vivi and Rafa's to lick his wounds.  The big 'ol drama queen throws a tantrum because Camila doesn't need him anymore.  So Vivi starts to pour him a drink and gets sidetracked by arguing with him that it's a good thing that Mariano is around for Camila.  "You made your bed, so go lie in it!  You made a decision, it has a consequence, now deal with it!"  Rafa sings backup on this tune.  Daniel continues his ranting and raving about how he luuuuurves Camila and this is hell for him. Dude, we get it, but you seriously need to react like an adult and not a toddler!

Camila rather formally thanks Natalia for joining the team.  Natalia is ready for all the masks to come off.  The plan is to get into Dio's house and find the mystery briefcase in the office.  They're expecting to find all the fake passports. Natalia knows exactly which briefcase they're talking about.  All they want her to do is help them get into the house.  That's going to be tough because the guards are always there…Camila says she has a plan to deal with that.

Dio takes a meeting with Yago.  Yago's tired of his dad and wants to get rich without him.  He wants to work with Dio, doing "whatever." Dio laughs at that.  Yago wants a big paycheck for all the "whatever" he's going to be asked to do.  He agrees to be given difficult tasks.  Dio says he'll put him to the test as soon as the honeymoon is over and they shake on it.  Dio wonders how far Yago's ambition will take him.

Natalia agrees to the plan and says they ought to hurry up, then.  She calls Dio and asks if he'll lend her his house on Friday night to have her bachelorette party…well, it's all women, though, so she asks if Omar and the other guys could maybe not be there, cause she'd be embarrassed about all the goings on with them there…you know…cause it's chick stuff.  Dio guffaws and says he'll make sure everything is prepared.  Way to underestimate your daughter, you misogynistic schmuck.  Natalia tells the gang she made the decision to carry out the plan on Friday night so that with her wedding and all, her dad won't notice the briefcase…digo, The Briefcase…is gone until after she's left.  Hipolito will get into the house disguised as a florist (which, if I were one of the guards, I'd suspect he's not a florist at all, but the entertainment), Natalia will show him where The Briefcase is hidden, he'll get The Briefcase out, then head to the square to hand it off to Rodolfo in case he's being followed.  Rodolfo will get it to Osvaldo's office, where Camila and Mariano will be waiting with Osvaldo to take the illegally obtained evidence to Juarez.  Luzma suggests they plan the bachelorette party like a real bachelorette party and make sure everyone thinks they're having a good time.  Natalia says it will be a bachelorette party in every sense of the word…although, since the term is "despedida de soltera" or "saying goodbye to being single" and Natalia says it will be a "despedida" in every sense of the word, that sounds a little foreboding.  As does the fact that she's making it sound like she's going to go through with the wedding.  Angry Natalia is a little scary.  Camila says if anyone suspects the plan is going wrong, they need to just ditch it, move on, and they'll figure out another way to get The Briefcase.

Cayetano's out on the patio, watching a horse being trained.  Isadora brings Cayetano a glass of whiskey, telling him she'll always accept his decisions.  She brags about the superawesome whiskey she bought in town.  Cayetano finds it bitter.  Isa blames it on his anger and he takes another sip.

Rodolfo praises Natalia for her bravery and says he admires her.  He does wish, though, that she could ditch all those people who say they love her but don't.  Natalia avoids his eyes  as she says she will, no worries.  But Rodolfo does worry and he loves her, even if she doesn't return his love.  Natalia says it's too bad she was blinded by love and didn't give him the attention he deserved.

The trash gets dropped off when the trash truck makes a stop.  The walking pile of grossness thought bubbles "I'm free, Luzmita!"  Please get caught soon.

Mariano drops Camila off at Vivi and Rafa's, where Daniel is still lurking.  He's still pouty, asking if she wants him to leave and bringing up that he's supposed to be staying out of her life, but the circumstances have forced him to stay, he felt bad being excluded from the plan, he doesn't like that everyone else is risking themselves to help her nab Dio and she's not letting him help or telling him the plan or anything.  He seems to come momentarily to his senses and decides to pass on the actual important information--that they couldn't clean up Alonso's recording.  Camila's not worried--she thinks the can get Isadora for drugging Cayetano.  Vivi is shocked to hear about what Isadora's up to and Daniel reminds her that this is why he has to stick around.  He poutily says maybe this will actually all be cleared up before he leaves and then they'll all be "happy."

Natalia agrees to tell Amanda what got her to change her mind about helping, but only if Amanda promises not to try to get Natalia to change her mind.  "Helping Camila is only the beginning…I'm going all the way."

Miriam convinces Mariano to come in for a bit and try the cookies Ana made.

Daniel is glad Natalia is going to help.  Rafa proposes a toast to the success of the plan.  Camila toasts to justice and to Vivi and Rafa's new family.  Rafa explains to Daniel that they've started the adoption process.  Camila begs to be a godmother.  Everyone gets quiet. I think they're all thinking that if things had gone differently, Camila and Daniel would both be Roman's godparents, together.  Or, I dunno, they could all be thinking about dinner or hair care products.  Vivi and Rafa beat a hasty retreat to the kitchen for another bottle of wine, leaving Daniel and Camila sitting sadly on the couch.

Mariano fills in Miriam about what's going on.  He seems like he wants to tell her something, but Ana interrupts, asking him if he likes the cookies she made.  Miriam loves seeing Mariano being a caring dad.

The La Malquerida crew is second- third- and fourth-guessing the plan. As Hipolito keeps reminding them, the plan is the plan because they've already been over every detail and decided the plan is what it is because it has to be.  Rodolfo and Eleuterio are worried about the women being harmed, but Hipolito reminds them that if something goes wrong, he's the one the guards will be after.  Eleuterio ends up flirting badly with Dorotea yet again and following her out of the kitchen.

Leonicio sneaks up to Buenaventura to spy on Isadora.  She's inside, happily typing Cayetano's new will on her laptop.  Oh, what a shock, he's leaving everything to her.  Cayetano has been nearly knocked out by the two whiskeys he already had.  He's headed to bed…slowly…with lots of stumbling.  Isadora thought bubbles that she may have overdosed him a bit…but who cares, cause in a few days she'll be a rich widow. Leonicio gets right up to the window and thought bubbles that he's going to hunt Isa down like a rat.  He scurries off when she turns toward the window and has to hide behind a tree.  He realizes he doesn't know the property well enough to hide out there, so he's going to go to La Malquerida.

Isadora calls Dio to tell him she's having to give Cayetano a bigger dose.  He was getting lucid and trying to divide the hacienda four ways, but he's back under control now and he's going to be signing everything over to her in the will he's signing tomorrow.  Then she'll kill him after Yago's wedding, after the reception. She just doesn't want it to be suspicious.  She's also going to give all the help the day off on Saturday so there won't be any witnesses.  Dio is planning to get his hands on La Malquerida tonight.  Isadora reminds him this is their last chance and they'd better not screw it up.

A prison guard reports that Leoncio is missing.  The prison director tells the guard to make sure everyone is looking for him.

Piedad is so nervous about Dio coming over, she keeps spilling things on the burners.  Luzma helps her clean up as Piedad explains she was trying to make some rice pudding for Camila, to comfort her after what's sure to be a terrible evening.  She goes on and on about how she's teaching Dorotea to cook and how she doesn't know what they're going to do without her when she and Luzma leave.  Luzma sits Piedad down at the kitchen table to talk about leaving.  "Don't take this the wrong way, but I want to go alone. I don't want you or Hipolito to go with me.  I want you to marry him and have a life with him, but let me live my own life.  It's time for me to fly.  You can't keep depending on me to plan your life and I can't keep depending on you.  I adore you!  Going away doesn't mean I'll stop loving you.  I know you don't want me to leave, but that's life.  I need to be independent.  I'll call every time I can, but I have to do this alone."  Piedad would understand if Luzma were moving out with her husband, but it's hard to let her go alone.  Luzma wants to know that Piedad understands and supports her.  Pedad pulls it together and says if this is what Luzma wants, then she's ok with it.  Piedad asks for a minute alone and takes the opportunity to weep.

Mariano and Ana are back at Rafa and Vivi's.  Ana wants to visit with Roman just for a bit, giving the adults the opportunity to talk.  Camila wants to wait in the car.  Mariano wants to wash his hands and Vivi awkwardly suggests he use her bathroom because the other one is, er, occupied.  So, just to clarify, he specifically says he wants to wash his hands, and he can't do that in the kitchen sink?  Daniel comes out from the bedroom area and he and Mariano face off.

Roman and Ana are both happy about Roman's pending adoption.  Roman also thinks it would be cool if Ana got a new mom soon.  They hope Camila will marry Mariano…although, Ana thinks she'd like Miriam as a mom too….  Oh, well, they both like Camila better, so that's that.

Camila explains to Mariano that she didn't want to tell him Daniel was there and start a fuss…she didn't know he was there when she got there.  Mariano is pissed that Daniel is being so rude to his wife.  "She told me you were at Amanda's, but I know you left there a long time ago."  Daniel gripes that he's not being rude, he's just visiting his friends, and fine, whatever, he'll leave!  Camila tries to apologize to Mariano again, but he just asks her to tell Ana they're leaving and goes off to wait in the car.

Mariano follows Daniel outside to chew him out for not keeping his word and staying away from Camila.  He blames Daniel for "deciding" to be with Miriam, but growing farther and farther away from her.  He accuses Daniel of not being a man of his word.

Tomorrow: Dio has demands to make before he even agrees to negotiate.  As predicted, he demands Camila spend a night with him in exchange for her mother's freedom.

Seriously, Thursdays? What gives? All talk and no action!

Props to the originator of Viuda Negra, I totally stole that. Also, I did notice that Mr. 5ft was not the first one to think of the garbage compactor.

Woo! You tell him, Mariano! Gosh, Dan's always making excuses just to stay close to Cami. C'mon, it's so obvious! Like Mariano said, Dan's not staying true to his word, and as I expected, he's already ignoring his family as his first priority. That's just wrong. And also, as his friends told him, he made a decision to stay with Miriam, so STICK with that choice! Commit yourself to your family, Dan! Cami's situation is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS AND YOU SHOULD STAY OUT OF IT ALREADY! END OF STORY!

So Yago is now a mobster intern. In terms of morals, I’d say he has a lot of potential. In terms of patience or suave-ness, uh, second-rate thug is more like it.

“Angry Natalia is a little scary.” Hoo boy, is she. I think I like it.

He (Mariano) accuses Daniel of not being a man of his word. Yep. I have that exact same issue with Dan, too. Then there is the being a drama queen, throwing a tantrum, pouting, and generally acting like a toddler. Pobre Daniel. He did not have a good episode. At all. And he won’t have a very good life if he returns to Chile. At all. Let’s hope he realizes that he has ten episodes to do something about it.

Updated Timeline:
Hoy: Now 3 days to wedding? I think. Camila’s powwow with Dio tonight at 9pm.
Viernes: Naty’s Bachelorette party at Dio’s house and the Big Briefcase Heist.
Sabado: Gota analysis ready. Or not. Naty and her little rat’s wedding. Or not. Isa offs Cayotonto. Or not, especially if the boda is interrupta.
Domingo: Leave for Chile en masse. Or not.
Lunes: Gota analysis ready for sure. So they say.

Muchas gracias, 5-footer! You had a lot of talk, but, oh my, such talk it was! Great job on a great episode!

"Drama queen Dan." How perfect. Can we add dull, dim-witted and boring to that description?

^yes, and let's add "annoying, huffy caveman" as well! :D 'cuz he is.

Kat- I didn't find the episode boring at all, and your recap was also far from that. I loved, loved, loved your whole paragraph on Isa brewing up LP#10. LOL!

Poor Cayetano! I hope Mariano or Pablo go to visit him next episode and notice. It's too much to hope that self-centered Yago will actually notice that his papa is stumbling around like zombie.

Carolina- Thanks for keeping the timeline. I think we might still be earlier in the week than Wednesday-- maybe Mon or Tues. (It's been a really long day.) Here's one more thing to add to your timeline: Isa and Dion have to turn over the two ranches to Estevez and Co on Monday, or else it's to jail for them both. I wish the good guys knew this, then they could just sit back and let the bad guys take each other out. Well, they'd have to keep Cayetano and Camila out of harm's way from Dion and Isa until Monday.

And hopefully they'll all be told right away that Leo is on the loose, because they will need to protect Luzma too. And Nat will have to be kept safe from Dion and Yago after whatever revenge she's planning on the two of them. Really, the whole police force of Aculco needs to be stationed at MQ, BV, and Amanda's hostel until Isa, Dion, and Leo are jailed.

That whole scene with Isa catching Leo's shadow out of the corner of her eye right before he scurries off, was straight out of a horror movie. *shiver* And now he's going to hide out at MQ and do the same kind of stalking there. Maybe Luzma should move up her move away from Aculco.

Now without his muzzle, we have the pleasure of watching Leo wipe the slobber off his face every few minutes. Blech! He's becoming more animal-like every time we see him.

Thanks, Kat. I loved your recap. I was pretty into this episode, but it was talky and a set-up for lots of excitement coming next week.

The actor who plays Leo is heavy-set but agile, reinforcing the sense of him as a lumbering but agile animal. Creepy. I find myself rooting for him to get Isadora and keep Luzma safe?

Painful for those of us who do like Danial, but he's heard the truth of choice bringing consequences from Vivi and how clearly he is backing away from Miriam from Mariano. And, they are the truth! On the other hand, he's the head Scoobie; no one else has his smarts or passion on the issue of getting the bad guys and protecting the good guys.

I wonder what Mariano was about to say to Miriam before our cute little cookie-lady interrupted. And what does the angry, spurned Natalia have in mind. Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

Traveling Lady- Did you mean to call him Danial? LOL! It's perfect. Dan is in deep denial right now about his Mir-Cam situation. If he wants to play with the rest of the kids, then he needs to come clean with Miriam, and make a real decision about which woman he wants to dedicate himself to.

Vivi -- LOL Wish I were that clever: Danial. Just the jumping cursor problem on my laptop that introduces all kinds of errors I never seem to fully catch.

But it's perfect. He is the denial man at the moment. I have to give CDLF credit. I can feel his pain and frustration at wanting it both ways. Actually, he wants it only one way, but his guilt and fear have him torn.
He has really grown in the role and seems to look even more fetching every day!

Kat, Great work. I just want to comment while it's fresh, before I delve into the comments.

"Love Potion #10 for those times when #9 just isn't good enough"

about Hipólito: "I'd suspect he's not a florist at all, but the entertainment"

"Angry Natalia is a little scary": Ya think?

"Or, I dunno, they could all be thinking about dinner or hair care products." Exactly, that was one uncomfortable moment. You nailed it!

And WHY, why, why is Camila apologizing to watchdog Mariano for the presence of HER husband??? What's happened to this girl. I used to like her.

"he demands Camila spend a night with him in exchange for her mother's freedom." This is exactly like the scene in Tosca where she asks "Quanto?" I can't wait.

Now, I'll read everybody else's comments

Kat, great work and great comments in it. I think we should all collaborate on writing a new set of lyrics to Paloma Negra as a tribute to Hissadora.

I could more easily think that Rodolfo is the entertainment but he can't take the chance because anyone who works for El Diablo would recognize him.

I am starting to wonder whether someone is going to spot Leoncerdo at LMQ before he has a chance to get Hissadora. While I'd rather see him captured or killed before he can harm Luzma (How much trauma must that girl endure?) it would be very satisfying to see him torment Hissadora first.

Did I miss something or how did he find out that she married Cayetano?

Mariano is still out of line. Daniel deserves the satisfaction of bringing El Diablo down, considering that he was the one who ordered the hit on him in the first place.

LXV, that's a great catch about El Diablo's Indecent Proposal. Please e-mail me through my profile about this.

Urban- During the hearing of the evidence against Isa for Padre B's death, Isa was referred to as Mrs. Albarran, and Cayetano was front and center in the hearing room supporting his wife, so Leo saw all of that and knew she was the new Mrs. A.

Oy, that's right. Estoy estupida esta manana. Especially in view of how she gloated through that whole thing.

I can't believe there are only 11 episodes to go.

Thanks Kat, love the way you clarified all the plots and schemes.
As much as I like Dan I’m glad that he finally has to face the fact that based on his decision to rejoin his Chile family, his Mexican friends &family considers him dispensable.

Although I don’t want Isa to go as far as killing Cayetano, I’d like to see him have some consequences for the way he treated Rocci. The portion of his estate that should have gone to the mother of his children is now going to the much younger more beautiful second wife. All this was done before he was under the influence of the drops.

By the way, I wonder if Cayetano and Roccio will reunite? If not, then whichever woman that ends up with Mariano will end up with 2 bonuses, a preadolescent daughter and a convalescing mother in law.

5Ft...you are one talented gem of a writer!! Thank you so much!!

I was able to stay awake for most of this last night, but will jot down some quick thoughts before I head out for the day.

Natalia has just about driven me batty, but I have such a sense of foreboding about her. I've said many times that I just could not see how Natalia and Paquita's Rodolfo could become a couple so close to the end of the story unless it was a 5 year flash forward. There was just something so sad about the convo between Nat and 'Dolfo last night that made me fear for Natalia's life.

Why did Camila feel it necessary to apologize to Mariano because Daniel was present in Vivi's house? She did it several times. I didn't think it necessary.

If Dan is conflicted, then Mariano is just as conflicted only he doesn't seem to know it, yet. He berates Dan for following Camila, but Mariano is showing signs of finding himself in the position of having to make choices about whom he thinks he loves. Not so easy, eh Mariano?

I have lost most of my patience with Luzma. Where is she going to go? What is she going to do? Where is she going to hide? WHEN is she going to get therapy? Good grief.

Cayetantonto has been such a blockhead, but I'm glad he's had these lucid moments to do the right thing for his sons. I do not want him to die.

Ok...later to catch more of the wonderful comments from the group!

Fatima

Muchas gracias 5ft, good to hear from Sr. 5ft.

A woman's scorn, way to go Natalia. Now she's thinking like papá. I'm sure she will run into trouble & Rodolfo will come to the rescue. Anyway we get a pretend fiesta, hope some of our guys play the Chippendale part.

I am pissed at Mariano, who the hell does he think he is? Dan is in this thing from the beginning, the victim, along with Camila, so of course he is not going away. And anyway he keeps sniffing around Miriam.

And dear Dan, how else should he act, he is leaving his true love, worried to death about her? He feels he is doing the right thing for Miriam & Agatha. He can't leave Camila to the evil clutches of Dio, he will rescue her. Take that Mariano!

LXV, loved Tosca, with subtitles in español no less.

Muchas gracias, Kat, for another stellar recap. I was planning to mention a bunch of terrific lines that I especially liked, but other folks have beaten me to it. However, I don't think anyone mentioned one of my faves: "When the steam above the pot looks like a skull and crossbones, that's when it's ready to take off the heat, strain, and serve with some strong whiskey and a pen." And you're right about Hissa: "she likes her pan dulce warm. Unlike her men." Yes, she likes her men either hot (Dio) or stone cold (Cayetano).

I enjoyed Mr. 5Ft's comment that it's "unfortunate that it wasn't one of those trash-compacting garbage trucks." Actually, at the beginning of the scene, I actually thought it was one of those, and I couldn't believe that the writers would get rid of Leoncerdo before he had time to scare or harm anyone.

LXV, I loved your message at 9:11 AM, and I agree with everything you said. I was especially taken with the similarity to Tosca. (I keep picturing César Évora as a terrific Baron Scarpia.) Hopefully, Camila will fare better than Floria Tosca did.

Carolina, I liked your timeline (esp. all the "or not's") and your hope that Dan realizes he has only ten episodes to get everything straightened out.

I'm such a wuss, I'm mad at both Mariano and Dan, and yet also very sympathetic re both of them. The writers have done a terrific job, as have Rene Strickler and DCLF.

Camila is in the worst position of anyone here, having to deal with her own feelings of loss about Daniel, guilt about Miriam, and panic about her mother. When all this is over she should leave Pablo in charge of the ranch for a year and go to Europe for a good vacation.

Where is Maja? Camila needs the comfort of a large, soft, darling dog. I'd rather she not be in the line of fire, though.

Vario, I also "...hope some of our guys play the Chippendale part." Because that could be the perfect foil for their "crashing the partay".

So may opera lovers in this group. Yay!!! Opera is the universal language for me. And wasn't that a great coincidence that the clip I grabbed had spanish subtitles!

I haven't seen any episodes ahead, so this is pure speculation, but methinks our Nati is on a deadly mission and perhaps she will be the one to wield Tosca's knife instead of Cami. I just hope she doesn't end up throwing herself off the ramparts of the Castel Sant'Angelo.

There isn't always a sacrificial lamb, but that is a real possibility for Nati. However, I don't think she would commit suicide. Nor would Camila. She fights until the end.

I could more easily see Camila saying to El Diablo that he could have her body only if he killed her first. That would be an operatic moment. I can't see him doing it though, because the thought of her humiliation is what fuels him here.

Cesar Evora would be a perfect Scarpia if he could sing opera. He has the charisma necessary to maximize the menace of this character, just as for Mephistopheles in any of the Faust operas.

Thanks 5ft, but I thought this was an exciting episode. Lots of action.

My poor Dan. I did feel his pain and anguish expressing his frustration over his situation. I'm glad he had Viv and Rafa to vent to. I wanted him to put his head on my shoulder and let me pat his head. I could comfort him real good.

Again, Caye playing the fuzzy headed old man was very well done. I hope those test results get back tomorrow so they can show Caye what Isa's been doing.

I'm sure they don't have anything bad planned for Natalia. She's pregnant and they don't do away with pregnant ladies like that. Does anyone else think that the actress playing Natalia is really pregnant? She looks like she really is. Full faced more than usual, and a biggish belly.

Cathyx- You are too funny amiga. I just need Dan to wear some more short sleeved, form-fitting t-shirts and I'll forgive him ANYTHING. Maybe if he took his shirt off in front of Camila, she'd beg him to stick around.

I agree UA, that Nati would not be a suicide, but then, I never thought of Tosca that way. I saw her as a heroic martyr escaping the clutches of evil. Unfortunately for her, she was literally backed up against the parapet. I hope Nati isn't a sacrificial lamb if only for pobre de Rodolfo's sake.

But if you'll all indulge me one more operatic parallel: remember that Scarpia's power was no longer in ascendance (same as Dion's) when the news reached them that Napoleon had won the Battle of Marengo. The Tosca Scoobies (Cavaradossi et al) cheered, but Scarpia (and his Omars) still wielded the power before his ultimate demise.

Vivi, good suggestion. If Dan took his shirt off before he put his head on my shoulder, I could comfort him even more.

True, but I don't think that El Diablo's minions are that smart. Also, they have no civil power.

Karmageddon discussion is posted. Got to out for a bit; see you later.

5ft: loved the recap: the skull and crossbones reference, the Hipolito as florist and Mr. 5ft's little contribution.

Now I'm going to do a 180 and defend Mariano. I think part of his problem with Dan--besides the jealousy--is that he's concerned about Miriam. He wants Dan out of the line of fire so that he's there for Miriam and Agatha.

Dan right now is not a very appealing hero. I'm hoping that something happens to change that. I'd like not to see him continue this way until the end.

When I read that Nat had a plan, my first thought was that her plan would interfere with the Scoobies plan and ruin everything. Now I'm worried she might be in big danger.

Nanette

Mariano's definitely jealous...first it was over Camila and now I think it's over Miriam. He can call it being up set over Dan being rude if he wants to, but that still calls into question...why should he care?

I suspect Natalia is going to go through with the wedding to Yago, make his life hell for a while, then tell Dio she wants a divorce. Yago will get completely screwed in the wallet, where it hurts him the most. I haven't figured out how that helps her get revenge on Dio, though.

Gracias a todos for your comments. Just to give you fair warning, I'll be in the kitchen until midnight next Thursday, so the recap will be late, but no way I want to miss one this close to the end!

Kat, I think there are a couple of problems with your guess about what Natalia has in mind. One is that I doubt that, knowing what she knows now, she'd want to have anything more to do with Yago. Also, if she marries him and then tries to make him miserable, he could get very nasty, and he's a lot bigger and stronger physically than she is. Finally, she knows that the Scoobies are trying to bring Dio down, and if they succeed, she'd find it hard to turn to Dio to tell him she wants a divorce, since he'd either be in prison or dead. Either way, he'd probably no longer be in any position to put pressure on Yago.

Vivi, I figured the ‘hoy’ as being wedding minus 3 because a few episodes ago Amanda said it was 4 days to the wedding and I am pretty sure that there was a night in between. (I seem to remember Dan going home and to bed and thinking about Camila, but as that has happened several times, I wasn't sure.) So depending on if you count the current day or not, it could be Wednesday or Thursday. Or even Tuesday, if you don’t count the current day or the wedding day. But it can’t be Monday if it’s three days to the wedding. IMO, most likely it’s Wednesday, but who knows. That’s why I didn’t specify what day ‘hoy’ is. :)

I didn’t realize the deadline for Dio and Isa was Monday. Thanks for pointing that out. Wouldn’t it be nice to just see the two of them hauled away by the cops for fraud. I added that to the timeline:

Updated Timeline:
Hoy: Now 3 days to wedding? I think. Camila’s powwow with Dio tonight at 9pm.
Viernes: Naty’s Bachelorette party at Dio’s house and the Big Briefcase Heist.
Sabado: Gota analysis ready. Or not. Naty and her little rat’s wedding. Or not. Isa offs Cayotonto. Or not, especially if the boda is interrupta.
Domingo: Leave for Chile en masse. Or not.
Lunes: Gota analysis ready for sure. So they say. Deadline for Dio and Isa to delivery ranches to developers or they're off to the pokey. Let's hope.

I think that Mariano is blaming Dan for Camila not having the warmies for him and thinks Dan being around is keeping Camila from moving toward Mariano. But the reality is that Camila just isn't into him in that way, and it won't or wouldn't make any difference if Dan were in the picture or away in Chile. She's not going to get over Dan, at least not for a long while. And even if once she does get over him, she most likely won't want a relationship with Mariano past being friends. There are just some people you like as a friend, but it won't ever progress to something more.

Another reason that would point to Nat not going through with it is they're planning a church wedding. I can't imagine she would do that, but I also can't figure out how *not* marrying him would be any kind of revenge. So he wouldn't get Dio's money...he'd find some other rich girl to marry and take her daddy's money. Not nearly as much sting as having to pay Natalia half of everything he ever earns (assuming he's capable of actually earning any money) for the rest of his life. Maybe we'll get lucky and she'll actually fill someone in on the plan tonight, on camera. Cause whatever it is, I'm sure it's not good and someone's going to need to talk her out of it before it's too late.

cathyx, yes, I think all of that is true. But I also think Mariano is a bit disgusted by Dan's shabby behavior, his not keeping his word about staying out of Camila's affairs and his neglect of Miriam, when he has chosen her over Camila and put Camila through so much pain with that choice.

Kudos to the writers for making Cam/Mariano/Dan such complicated, and therefore, realistic characters. These are not black and white situations and not black and white cardboard characters.

5ft hilarious as usual. Loved the LP #9, trash compactor lines among others.

Isa may work out an "email-a-will", but Cayenne already made up the will he wanted with his own lawyer and told all his sons about it. At the very least the potion persuaded will can be contested.

IMO the Dan Miriam story is starting to go off the rails. Dan is a distracted uninvolved mess and Miriam is under constant duress about it. Surely that cannot be protective of Miriam's delicate health.?! I am OK with Dan getting a wake up slap talk, but Mariano may not be the best one to do it.

last night we all learned a very important lesson: Never mess with a pregnant woman, it wont end well for you.

Mena- "the Dan Miriam story is starting to go off the rails"

Perhaps that's the point? This thing is NOT sustainable, even in the short run. How does Dan think he'll be able to keep this up for a lifetime? He's barely holding on to his emotions now. Well, not really, considering how many outbursts he's had just that day alone. He has got to realize that this situation is no good for anyone, and he needs to figure out a way to break the truth to Miriam, and to be honest with himself too.

Mena: I agree that Dan needs a wake up slap--Vivi was trying to give him one. And Mariano is definitely the last person who should do it.

Now that Caye told all his sons and they told everyone else about Caye making his will out to all four parties, it will be difficult to explain why the will leaves everything to Isa again. I'm curious how this will play out. Will Caye become addle-brained again and agree to leave it to Isa? Will Isa be successful in killing Caye? Will Isa be found out before her forged will gains traction?

Yes, cathyx, I cheered when Caye's decision was blabbed all around to an appreciative family (well, not Yago, and I don't really consider hissa to be family, not real family anyway). But was the will actually formalized?, I think it was, which would put hissa's effort under severe scrutiny if it actually gets off the ground. That in combination with the gota analisis should take care of that situation.

And Ellie, you make a good point about Nati's pregnancy. All the more reason for her to try to protect herself (her physical person, that is) But I worry about what her need for vengeance will drive her to do.

I agree with all those who say that the Dan character is one messed up dude. He is truly pathetic right now. Yes, he made his choice. With his head, not his heart. And that's what's driving this pathetic behavior. There are no right answers for him right now. Perhaps that's what motivates him to get to the bottom of the Dion thing, to arrive at some kind of resolution. His whole life is a moving target at this point. I think he wants some kind of definitive action to make him feel grounded.

Yep, Amor Aburrido. I can't believe I'm saying this, but let's get this thing over with and Cam 'n Dan back together again. When the DVD comes out, I'll just order Disc 1 with episodes 1-116.

I haven't read all the comments, so forgive any repetitions. Otherwise, I'd still be reading at 9 pm and I don't want to miss Cam & Dio's convo.

Kat, you can talk the talk allright. The descriptions of Little Miss Sunshine wanting to rain on Dio & Yago's parade were perfect--I'm going to love the Batchelorette Party...Or not... depending on how it goes.

BTW--The garbage truck that rolled out I'm pretty sure *was* a compactor. Amazing how Leo's hair was all nicely shampooed by the time he peeped out of the bushes. And clever to add wiping saliva off his mouth as he ran. Someone in the script dept. must have done a google search on people who lose their tongues to make it absolutely accurate.

Kat-All your riffs on La Viuda cooking a mess of LP#10--for when #9 is not enough, were hilarious. Reminded me of Julia Child making primordial soup.

Boy, Vivi and Rafa really lit into Dan last night. He deserved it and he knows it. He also can't help it. His love for Camila is too strong. I'm with Carolina on the time line....most of it is going to turn out OR NOT.

Miriam could slap some sense into Dan. And she just might if she gets any more fed up.

There is also her doctor's visit to the dishonest doc's colleague, where they both could learn the truth about her health. I hope that Dan would have the courage to ditch Miriam if he learns their is no medical concern, but there is reason to doubt he has the courage to do that. We shall see.

Mena & cathyx--
About the will: the picture in my mind of Isa and the will is that she will put hers infront of him and tell him it's his--making sure he's had his morning dose of whisky--and getting him to sign it. We in viewerville are all pretty sure she's not going to get the BV, but the speculation on how she's going to try is fun (about the only fun I'm having right now).

I don't think Nat will go through with a church wedding, being a good Catholic girl, she wouldn't want a divorce. She is pregnant, so is also thinking of her child having the slime ball as a father. She will remember all the vile things he said about her & the hijo. I hope she is planning sth really vicious for los dos piezas de mierda. Rodolfo will be there for her!!!!! I am really going to enjoy this, it will be fun to watch, I hope.

"Que bonito amor", oh no! Pobre Mejia following a super TN with his usual crap.

I do want to see Iza work her evil one more time befooooore, Leo makes her pay.

I wouldn't want to have to do Iza's ropa interior after she sees Leo.

I don't think Nat is stupid, I think she was just raised by Amanda to be really trusting and I think finding out that both Yago and her new found dad are trash is going to make her go back to being the smart girl we met at the start, whatever her plan is I think Dio and Yago are going to regret playing her for a fool.

Elle: agree with you, totally. Glad the frustrating Nat is gone.

Kat thanks for your recap.

Poor Dan, what a bad day.

I'm glad smart Nat is back though angry Nat is quite scary.

UA...you've said something really important and something I've probably missed you saying before, but it really struck me today.

We know that Dion gets his kicks out of controlling people and situations, but his "desire" for Camila is not sexual desire(or at least not totally), it IS more about humiliation. If he humiliates her, he controls her (he thinks), but it is the humiliation of Camila that is driving Dion at this point.

In the avances when Dion tells Camila what it is he wants, I honestly felt like I could have thrown up. Evora did an excellent job in that brief scene conveying the very essence of his revolting and repulsive self. He was so repulsive to me in that scene.

Even if he were to take Camila by force, I think he would have immediate erectile dysfunction that couldn't be salvaged by any drug.

Fatima

Fatima, I don't know why, but Cesar Evora is consistently being cast as a sexually perverse stepfather. The rebroadcast of AMF just passed the episode where he attempts to rape Aracely Arambula's character, who is only 18 or 19 at that point in the story. Federico knew her since birth.

Dionicio Ferrer isn't that far gone, but that doesn't make him any less creepy in the moment.

So Yucko wants to "make it on his own" and become a rich man without any help? Then why does he run straight to his future FIL to get on HIS payroll? Has Omar or any of the other thugs become independently wealthy working for Dio? Iago's an idiot!

Mariano has a hell of a nerve getting on Daniel's case about his treatment of Miriam. Who appointed him White Knight de Jour? If he wants to support Cam by being around in case she needs him, fine. But he has no business inserting himself in either the Dan/Cam or the Dan/Mir relationships, regardless of whether Dan decided for one or the other. That is personal business between Dan and his two wives! He's friends with Miriam, sure, but needs to stay out of her business with her husband. Same for Camila. Camila, without all the stress of Gussie's situation, would normally tell him to stay out of it, IMO.

Besides, Augustina herself, as she was being led off to the reclusorio, told Daniel to take care of Camila and he promised he would. This is AFTER and beyond all the Miriam mess. He's trying to keep his word to Gussie (not that he wouldn't do it on his own). And he decided to stay with Miriam and Agatha for the sake of Miriam's health but he never said he would stop loving or wanting to help Camila. He has always intended to help her solve her (Cam's) problems and THEN go to Chile.

Soyyo

UA, I wonder if Evora how difficult it is for Evora to get into character for these roles. Dion is spiraling downward. Evora is doing a good job of making it a subtle spiral.

Fatima

Soyyo--I can imagine that the hench lifestyle doesn't leave a lot of time for spending all those ill-gotten gains, so while the size of the paycheck might not be impressive, I could imagine that if a guy like Omar were to invest wisely (as in, NOT in one of those retirement accounts his boss is selling) and not get himself killed, he might be able to retire comfortably.

So, once again, that leaves Yago out! He doesn't do anything wisely and he'll more than likely get himself killed before he sees a cent!

"That is personal business between Dan and his two wives!"

Soyyo- That line just tickled my funny bone for some reason. LOL! :) ITA with your entire rant on Mar sticking his nose in.

I think the subtlety is excellent and may be a function of being a novela veteran. It takes a number of episodes to develop a character to where we see him and it takes phases of them to show changes. Good writing helps that.

It has been said that every character has two parents: The author is the father and the actor is the mother. I completely buy this.

Soyyo- I'm with you too on the Mariano rant. I'm sure it's tough for the guy when Dan is married to both women Mariano likes, but still.

Where exactly is Luzma going? I'm glad it's somewhere away since I thought she was talking about going to town or some such thing by herself, leaving her vulnerable to Leo. (I mean she could smell him coming from a mile away but better not to push it).

Dumb Dio. He really underestimates the women around him, except Augie of course. But Amanda, Camila, Piedad, and now Natalia have all proven to be more independent and non-obedient than he likes in women. Now that the bulls are back, can we get him stampeded again?

Kelly

Nanette--
I'm just getting to your HPLP list for last week. Are you sure you wanted to put "Can you tell I hate Dio" in the LP list? I would think you would have proudly put it up in HP, as we all would!

Anita: I see your point.

Luzma didn't mention where she intended to go but now is certainly not the time for her to do this.

Here's hoping someone calls them tonight about Leoncerdo's escape.

Maybe it'll save her because Leo's headed over to the MalQ and she's heading out. With luck, they'll pass in the night and she'll find safe harbor somewhere else.

This is my last episode with the group until the week after next. I'll jump back in for the finale, but I'll certainly miss everybody's great input. Adios amigos!

All the best to you Agnes! And all the best to your mom too. Looking forward to hearing your voice again in the final week.

Agnes...we will save a seat for you at our wonderful table! Take care of yourself and your mom!

Fatima

No personal attacks please.

OK I take my 3:52 pm statement back--after Tonight's Friday Night Light Up, it's not Amor Aburrido anymore and I don't want to see it end. Can't wait for our discussion tomorrow.

Kat--take a bow and I guess you take the last cha for the team next Thursday, si?

Will it be a two hour finale? Or will they have it end on Friday?

Anita, I don't know whether anyone will see my response if I put it here, but I thought I'd mention that the new 10 pm telenovela with Jorge Salinas is announced as starting on April 15--that's a Monday. Thus, it looks as if Amor Bravío will end the previous Friday, April 12.

Ooops, sorry Anita, I think I may have misunderstood your question. I've got no idea whether there will be a 2-hour finale on Thursday. Actually, I remember someone saying that there were 166 capítulos. If that's true, and the show isn't pre-empted for something on one of the remaining days, it looks as if it should end with a 1-hour finale on Thursday, April 11.
