Por ella soy Eva #162 Friday 3/8/13: Fin

Part I: The Curious Case of the Missing Elements
by Madelaine

Before I start this recap I want to thank all of the recappers for this TN and all the commenters who made Por Ella Soy Eva such a fun ride, and I'd especially like to thank Julie, for sharing her Friday night recapping spot with me, gracias Amiga. Now on to this fab finale epi.

So we start this epi with Rebe having absconded with Onesimo's gun. Remember that cause it is important later, you'll see.

The Pluti Trap, Perfected:

We have the gathering of Helena and Modesto and Pluti comes in, surprised that Modesto is there at Pluti's house, but no matter, he can sign those papers so he can inherit Adriano's fortune, sooner, rather than later. Modesto informs Pluti he has got to watch a video that Adriano has made before signing those papers, and Pluti is in a hurry, so they turn it on, and there is Adri in the flesh accusing Pluti of being a traitor. Well, of course Pluti turns it off, tells Helena it is a bunch of b.s. and so Helena, true strong woman that she is, pulls those fake passports out and basically asks him if this is a bunch of b.s. too???? He wants to know que the hell she got these from? Not important she tells him, but this is proof.

Meanwhile, JC is climbing the wall getting into Pluti's house and joins the fray. Pluti says what Helena has is sooo not proof. They got nothin' on him, I tell you nothin'! As a matter of fact Pluti is now really Caligula and is going to accuse JC, Helena and Modesto, of all people, of this latest fraud. But Helena tells him there is another witness to all his bad deeds. So here comes the witness and it's, wait for it, Adri of course, so alive and so not dead. Adri even sings he so ain't dead. Pluti is mouth dropped open impactado Pluti keeps sayin' your dead, dead I tell you! Well, Adri has Modesto pinch him to assure Pluti he is so NOT dead. So Helena starts to explain how things really happened. She explains that she talked to Adri in the hospital. Remember when Adri told her to trust JC, well now we know why. Adri tells Helena he was suspecting Pluti and explains why that was.

We have a flashback of Lic Arranas, visiting Adri, remember that "personal" visit? Well, it wasn't so personal. Seems Lic Arranas continued his little investigation unbeknownst to Pluti, who told Lic Arranas to cancel it. Are you with me so far? Ok, well, Lic Arranas found many indescrepancies with the finances of the company and was keeping Adri informed. Lic Arranas tells Adri this fraud had been going on for 10 years and involved some people that really had nothing to do with it. So Lic Arranas now knows the person that was really the fraudster, and Adri says it was JC wasn't it? Uh, not so much, says Lic Arranas it was the Head of Finance of the company, Plutarco!!!! Adri is shocked.

So back to Helena and Adri talking in that hospital room. He tells Helena to watch out for Pluti and to watch him and they devise a plan to trap ole sharky Pluti in his own petard, so to speak. So they set up the "death" of Adri, Helena going out to tell Pluti that Adri was in "bad shape" and Helena watched as Pluti was grinning like the Cheshire Cat, but hid her emotions from him, like that Stepford wife. Next, we have the flashback of the Doctor coming out to tell them all that Adri has died and another shit eating grin on Pluti's face. Now we get another flashback and it is Adri, dressed just like an everyman in baseball cap and jeans talking to the Doctor. Seems Adri is fine, no problems and Adri thanks the Doc for going along with this little scheme. So a nice black SUV pulls up, that Adri gets into, and in the back seat is Modesto! Who knew? Later we see Helena calling Adri, about the problems with the Playa project. Case Solved!

The Missing Passports:

We get a scene of Helena and Lucia in Lucia's apartment and Lucia telling Helena she has got some proof against Pluti. So while Lucia is going to another room in the apartment, Helena can't wait and actually goes into Lucia's purse and pulls out those fake passports, looks at one, begs Lucia to forgive her and five finger discounts them from Lucia and sticks them in her purse and puts on her best poker face. So Lucia comes back out, wanting to give that proof to Helena and discovers them missing, and has a cow. So that is how Helena ended up with those fake passports. Case Solved!

The Mysterious Video:

So now we have how the video with Adri's "last words" was made. Modesto hooks up the DVR and Helena has a camera. Since Adri now knows how creepy, er, slimy and sharky Pluti is, he doesn't want Antonia's ashes to reside at Pluti's anymore and hugs the fancy urn and is going to take them with him when he leaves here. So Helena readies the camera and films Adri's "last words". Case Solved!

Pluti's True Colors Come Shinin' Through:

So JC has been listening to all of this and is very surprised and feels like a fool, but the real fool is Pluti of course, how does it feel to be hoodwinked, Pluti???? Adri lays into Pluti for cheating him, lo these ten years. Pluti has not only cheated him but abused his confidence. So Pluti panicks and looks around for his gun, but fortuntely, Adri has it and won't give it to Pluti. So who should waltz in about this time? You'll see, we'll get back to them.

Lucia Regains Her Brain:

So we have Lucia, Renato and Santi at the apartment, when they realize JC is gone and he has taken Renato's car! So Lucia, being the brains of this Scooby bunch, suggests they take a cab to Pluti's quickly, come on already, step on it. She sure has regained her brains, jus' sayin'.

Rebe's Got A Gun:

So now back to that little meet at Pluti's shark tank, only he has become the chum so to speak, cause here comes Rebe with Onesimo's gun, and points it directly at Pluti. He is having one bad day, probrectio, NOT!!! JC tells Adri that Pluti and Rebe have been lovers, lo these ten years! Rebe and Pluti have a fight about how bad he treated Rebe and Antonia, especially at meetings. And how Pluti only married Antonia for her money and stocks. JC mentions to Adri how "Eva" was there when Antonia was dying and how Pluti ran out without a shirt and he always suspected that Pluti had something to do with Antonia's death. Rebe even made a video of them in the jacuzzi to hold over Pluti's head.

Adri is so pithed at this point he grabs Pluti and calls him a killer and slaps the crap outta him. Rebe and Pluti are still arguing. Pluti says that Rebe thought once Antonia was out of the way, Pluti would marry her. Rebe tells him to shut his mouth, or she'll shut it for him. He dares her to, by taking the barrel of the gun, and sticking it in his mouth, and telling her to pull the trigger already! He keeps daring her to do it. Rebe has the deer in the headlights look, and it seems she can't cross that line. She says she just wanted to marry Pluti and in one swift move, Pluti grabs the gun from Rebe and pushes her aside and grabs Helena! We'll get back to this dramatic scene!

The Disappearance Of Mimi de la Rose:

So Fern is standing outside of Mimi's pension and he sees a bunch of guys pull up in a black SUV. So Fern watches the pension, and I think he called Santi and told him he was keeping watch on Mimi's place. Anyhoo, these tough guys come out with a bunch of bright pink suitcases and start to load them into that SUV. So Fern watches this and just about this time, there are some cops on patrol and Fern stops them and says these guys are robbing the place, stop them already. So the cops listen to Fern and are about to take action when guess who comes home?

That's right, it's our Mimi, safe and sound. She explains to the cops this is a mistake, these guys are here on her orders, and then greets Fern and says she is ok, and so is Adri! Fern is floored so Mimi explains what happened to her, after she left the hospital and came home. Seems Mimi was crying and here came these guys and hauled her off in this big black SUV. They brought her to the country and goose stepped her, all the while she was protesting, when finally a voice reaches these guys and tells them to let Mimi go already, he will take care of her from this point forward! And it is, wait for it, Adri of course.

Mimi is so shocked to see Adri, at first it looks like she thinks she is having a vision, but Adri assures her, he is indeed alive. She cries and carresses his face and hugs him and is so happy he is alive and then all of a sudden, she socks him one, right in the kisser! Then she yells at him for letting her think he was dead! Adri begs her forgiveness and says she is having his bebe, right??? Of course she is, and they have one of those YOWSA kisses again, I must say.

Fern is happy to hear everything worked out ok for them. Fern tells Mimi it was a plan to unmask Pluti for who he really is. Fern also tells Mimi that JC has escaped from the jail. Mimi is very verklempt! Case Solved!

Pluti's Got The Gun:

So now we are back to the tense hostage situation. He now has that gun pointed at Helena's head and has his arm around her neck. He swears he'll kill her if anyone so much as moves. JC begs Pluti to let Helena go and he'll be his hostage instead. No can do from Pluti. He warns all of them not to try and stop him or he'll kill Helena. Pluti calls Onesimo so he can get outta there. Rebe tells everyone that Pluti stole those 3 million dollars from Adri. Now here comes Fairbanks with the money Pluti asked him for, to replace that fake 3 million that Onesimo substituted for the real thing. This time the money is in Euros. Fairbanks is shocked to see Adri alive, I tell you!

Pluti takes the suitcase full of Euros, points that gun all about and drags Helena out with him and into Onesimo's car. About this time, here come Renato, Santi and Lucia by taxi and Pluti threatens them with the gun. They back off and Pluti and Onesmimo and Helena haul butt outta there! So JC comes running out of the house, takes Adri's car, and hauls butt after them. There is something in that car though, and we'll get back to that later. Case of the Missing Money, Solved!

It Is A Dark and Non-Stormy Night:

So Onesimo, Pluti and Helena have arrived at a dark house and it is Adri's ranch they are at. So they all go into the house. Pluti wants Onesimo to get him a helicopter. Meanwhile, JC has been following Pluti and calls Adri from his cell phone and tells Adri that Pluti has made it to La Marquesa, Adri's ranch. JC doesn't want Adri to call the cops, until he can rescue Helena. JC hangs up and starts toward the house.

Adri won't call the cops, but Fairbanks has overheard all the info and calls them himself. Adri is pithed and socks him one. Fairbanks tries to justify calling the cops by saying that he can't afford for Pluti to rob him of those Euro's doncha know!

So now Pluti, Onesimo and Helena are inside La Marquesa, the ranch house. Pluti still has that gun on Helena and she begs him to let her go. Pluti begs to differ and says she is his insurance to get out of this conundrum, as if. So Pluti tells Onesimo to tie Helena up. Onesimo apologizes to Helena the whole time he is tying her up and even tapes her mouth, probrecita!

Back to Adri's and Rebe has left, after telling them all about Pluti. Modesto is going home to Eugenia, Lucia and Santi are going, and Renato is gonna try and find Rebe, cause Rento really beleives Rebe is gonna pull something else. Adri can't beleive that Pluti and Rebe hurt Antonia so much. And then Adri remembers that he put Antonia's ashes in his car, before JC took it. Ruh Roh, this will be important later, just wait, you'll see!

So Lucia and Santi have come to see Dona Silvia and inform her that Helena is the hostage of Pluti. Sometime later, Eduardo is with Silvia and they console each other over Helena, they are very worried for her, but Eduardo says that Helena is very strong and they have to have faith she will be ok, WOW, who knew!!!! Silvia cries.

Hostage Situation Parte Dos:

So Onesimo, having done his henchie duty, is about to leave Pluti and Helena. The helicopter has been ordered. Not so fast Buster, says Pluti. He has got some matters to settle with Onesimo, doncha know. Like that 3 million Onesimo stole from him. Didn't think I'd know did ya, he tells Onesimo. Pluti could forgive Onesimo for being useless and an idotic naco but he can't forgive him for being a traitor. He is about to shoot Onesimo, but the gun jams, remember this is the gun that Rebe took from Onesimo in the first place. Onesimo takes off and Pluti chases him right out the door.

Meantime, JC has made it into the house and sees Helena struggling to get free, he unties her. Outside, Onesimo is running for his life and makes it to his car and gets in, guns the engine and takes off at warp, er, mach, er top speed, you get the drift while the gun is shooting bullets and not hitting anything.

In the house, JC has gotten Helena all untied, they are snuggling a bit and are getting ready to go out the back way, when Pluti catches them and points the gun at them. He wants to know where in the heck they think they are going? JC stands in front of Helena to protect her. Pluti is so sharkily enraged, he can't believe that Helena forgave JC. Helena says she forgave JC out of love and then Pluti aims the gun and tries to shoot JC, but that gun jams again. JC tells Pluti he is so done and he runs toward Pluti and tries to grab the gun.

There is a beatdown going on now with Pluti and JC. Pluti manages to get JC on the floor and kicks him and starts to choke him. Helena so strong and quick on her feet, picks up the nearest vase and cold cocks Pluti with it. Pluti is down for the count but not out. So Helena is checking to make sure JC is ok, when Pluti takes this opportunity to know when he is beat and makes a run for it. Helena and JC snuggle.

Pluti runs outside, straight into a cop, who he cold cocks and gets into a car and takes off. Whose car you want to know? Why, Adri's of course, which by happenstance has Antonia's ashes in it. Julie can tell you all about what happens next.

Oh, One Last Plea to the Virgincita:

So Rebe is begging the Virgincita for help again, oh Please Virgincita, Please when there is a knock on the door. Who is it you ask? You don't know you say?? Care to take a wild guess??? Okay, I'll tell you it is Onesimo and it's decision time for Rebe. Onesimo has 3 millon in that suitcase he is dragging, should she stay or should she go with him? Julie will tell you all about that too!

Part II...
by Julie

The reunion of Helena and Juan Carlos is cut short by the arrival of the police. JC is arrested. He apologizes to Adriano, who forgives him: Eva taught Adri that the most important thing is to love.

Anvils! Anvils!! Anvils!!!

Onesimo pleads with Rebeca to run away with him. He knows she can't get a job, thanks to that video which alienated the entire tourism industry; but he can give her all the baubles and trinkets she wants. "You started out as a thief; you're just as low-born as I am, and that's why I love you," he simpers.

Rebeca wants to know what's in the luggage. Duh! Onesimo unzips the case to reveal bundles of cash. They're real, and they're spectacular! Why, that changes everything! Rebeca agrees to go away with Onesimo and offers him an advance on her "payment" (her body). "Do you like to play games?" Suspecting trickery, One says they'll play his game. He grabs her, turns out the lights (apparently he is self-conscious, or maybe he likes the flashing colored lights from the hotel sign outside the window), and nails her on the bed. (Anvil!)

Their "dance" is very brief (I'm having another LFMB flashback!). Rebe pretends to be pleased and proposes another sexy game. This time he's more cooperative and lets her tie him up. She taunts him and takes the money. "I'm not your 'mamita' nor anyone's!" But when she opens the door, the police are waiting there with Renato to arrest Onesimo. "He took advantage of me!" Rebe claims. "I was going to take this money to the authorities like the upstanding citizen that I am!" Renato beams at her. The cops seize the money (anvil!!), and arrest One (anvil!!!).

Ashes to Anvils

Pluto loses the police on a winding, foggy road. Then he nearly goes over a cliff at the sight of Antonia glaring at him as he speeds past her.

He gets out of the car to look back. He looks a bit ghostly himself, with the moonlight reflecting off his suit, but there's no one else around. He gets back in the car and notices the urn. "Damned whale, get out of my life and leave me in peace!" He flings the urn into the road, spilling Antonia's ashes everywhere, and speeds off into the fog.

But now she's smirking in his rear-view mirror! He turns his head to inspect the back seat. It's empty. Now she's standing right in front of his car! He loses control of the car and goes over a cliff (Toonces, look out!) in a crash that's virtually identical to the one that didn't kill JC. There is a horrible gash on Pluto's face. He tries to climb out of the burning vehicle, but the ghost holds his legs as they are enveloped by fire; apparently, those suits aren't flameproof.

Pluto is rescued by the police. Fairbanks's precious Euros are destroyed in the fire.

Trial by Montage

(The song is about "mis planes" all going wrong. Perfect.)

Onesimo's trial is first. Pluto testifies from a wheelchair; One is defiant. Mimi gives an animated testimony; One merely shakes his head in frustrated denial. Then Eugenia takes the stand, and the fight seems to go out of him entirely. He gets 30 fun-filled years in prison without parole.

We don't see any of Pluto's trial, but he gets 40 years and tries to blame Onesimo for Raul Mendoza's murder. Onesimo gloats to Pluto that things will be different between them when they're on the inside. The so-called "nacos" rule the place.

Juan is next. All his friends go to bat for him, but he still gets five years and two days for identity theft and breaking out of jail. Modesto tells Eugenia they can get it down to less than two because he has no priors, etc. Helena says time will pass quickly, and she and Lalito and the baby will be waiting for him.

The Anvil That Wouldn't Go Away

Rebeca's been hiding out at the hotel out of paranoia (I'm not sure why). She's finally come home to a pile of unopened mail. The last of her money is gone, and she can't get a job anywhere. On the phone, Angelica suggests that Rebeca come out to LA to live with her and become a prostitute - after all, she's been giving it away for years already.

Reb cusses out her very last friend in the world. She tells herself she can still sell some of her nice things. Immediately, she is visited by creditors and taxmen who seize everything in her apartment except drapes in the window and the clothes on her back. "But I'm a storybook princess," she weeps to herself.

Some Days Later...

Adriano offers to let Helena take her Playa project to the tourism company of her choice. She chooses... GI!

Fernando loves to cook for the kids. Marcela couldn't take the job in Miami; they wanted someone with a degree, but she wasn't able to finish her degree because of the mess at GI. She's going through with the divorce. Fer begs Marcela for another chance. He'll be a stay-at-home dad and sleep in Kevin's room. He knows he's a disaster at office work and couldn't admit how much he admired her because her success made him feel small. Marcela is skeptical, but agrees to let him stay at the house as a co-parent.

JC writes sad letters in prison and worries about Helena.

Silvia gets her high school diploma with honors and decides to open a flower shop in the nursery. Bastardo congratulates her. Twice. He says it's never too late for a person to find fulfillment.

Contrite Modesto apologizes to Eugenia for being selfish and keeping her from her acting career. He asks for another chance to start over with Eugenia. She says, "As friends? Of course. But nothing more."

Claudia gets into the high school of her choice - enrolled with her new name, Claudia CABALLERO Camargo. And Renato's become head of PR - Rebeca's old job. Modesto's perpetually sour face breaks into a smile. He and Renato share a hug.

More Days Later...

The Playa M project is back on track. The Regidor looks happy for the first time in forever. Adriano names Helena (no baby-bump visible yet) president of Grupo Imperio so that he can retire and marry Mimi.

Mimi (jokingly) gives Adri a hard time for announcing the wedding before asking her first. He played hard to get for so long, it's time she returned the favor. He gives her his mother's ring - which Antonia had left for him. "Why didn't I give it to Eva?" he wonders aloud. He asks her to marry him. She says yes!

The Anvil That Keeps On Falling

Who is this plain-looking woman with her hair in a ponytail? It's Rebeca. In addition to being without any resources, she's pregnant. And she's already past 12 weeks, so she can't (legally) have an abortion. She's going to be a single mother. The doctor at the clinic suggests that Rebeca make a paternity claim on the father. "At least this baby will be good for something," Rebe mutters coldly.

Odds and Ends

Santiago asks Lucia to marry him. She says no! He's shocked. Lucia says she loves him, but they need to get to know one another better. She suggests that they live together a while longer.

Mario, Lalito's long-lost dad, is back in town now that One and Pluto can't kick him around anymore. He bonds with Lalito and reveals - to Helena's surprise - that it was Juan, not Plutarco, who convinced him to become a better man and make Lalito proud.

It's Not an Anvil, It's a Baby

One year later, in an outfit very similar to what she was wearing a year ago when she found out she was pregnant, Rebeca (not looking any better) visits Pluto in jail. She is shocked by his unkempt appearance. He walks with a cane because of his burnt feet; the scar on his face didn't heal very neatly; the other side of his face is a mess of cuts and bruises from a recent beating that left one of his eyes swollen shut.

She tells him all her stuff is impounded and she's got twenty dollars to her name. She asks him for money. He mocks and insults her: there's no money left. Everything, including what Antonia left to him, was spent on lawyers who ultimately failed to keep him out of jail. The rest, he spends for protection.

She tells him she's not asking for a personal donation; she's claiming the money for her son. She shows Pluto her bouncing blond baby boy, Giordano Alessandro.

The baby waves happily at the terrifying-looking monster on the other side of the glass. Pluto drops the phone, stunned. He almost seems to soften for a moment. Then he begins to laugh. She smugly lists her demands: he'd better pay her, or she'll sue him for child support. She needs a bigger apartment, blah blah blah. He's got a new surprise for Rebeca: he's always been sterile. He let Antonia think they never had a baby because of her, but it was really because of him.

Pluto limps back to his cell, where Onesimo is regaling his friends with the tale of how his grandmother was from Czechoslovakia and met his grandfather in Acapulco, and therefore he has European (and presumably blond) ancestry. One reminds Pluto that he's a month overdue with his protection money and they'll all beat him up if he doesn't pay. Pluto grumps that he's not getting his money's worth and One is treating him like a servant. One says Pluto's a cripple and a lousy servant, but he's HIS servant, so he'd better get his chores and errands done!

Outside, a random passerby compliments Rebeca, the proud mother, on her beautiful baby. That kid sure likes to wave! Rebeca worries about the future, but tells Giordano he's actually the son of a prince. She promises that he'll never know hunger or poverty. (We will assume that Rebe finds a way to make this happen... any chance Onesimo's grandmother was Czech royalty?)

That Same Day

Fernando cooks breakfast for the family. He's excited that Juan's getting out today. Marcela just got her degree and she wants to take the family - the whole family - with her to a business convention. She and Fernando are together again, and they're very happy! He complains, jokingly, when she gives him his "money for the week." Family hug!

JC gets out of prison and is greeted by Santi, Ferni, and Renato. The Four Stooges! He and Helena get married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. (If you blink, you'll miss Silvia holding their daughter.) They thank their friends for helping them get together and stay together.

Eugenia gives a sweet speech about how, when we're gone, all that's left of us is our love. She talks about the love grandparents and parents give to their offspring, and children to their parents. (Eduardo plays with Lalito at the playground; Fernando sees the kids off to school and gets his shopping money from Marcela; Mimi and Adriano at home with their baby; Renato introduces his new boyfriend to Modesto.)

She talks about love that overcomes obstacles and sometimes makes lovers forget their mistakes. (Santi and Lucia have a popcorn fight in bed; JC chases Helena around the president's desk at GI.)

Now Eugenia's on the stage of her one-woman play, saying that love makes the world go around. She repeats that love is all that's left of us after we're gone. The audience responds with thunderous applause and a standing ovation. Claudia joins her on the stage with a huge bouquet of flowers, no doubt from Silvia's flower shop.

JC and Helena dance in their garden and reminisce about what a jerk he used to be and how wonderful he is now and too bad there are still men in the world as bad as he was, or worse. He owes it all to her and to Eva. She's grateful.

Juan Carlos and Helena kiss. The imaginary band plays for them. This time, instead of shimmering anonymous women, the band is all of their friends. (Pause for crying.)

But it's not the end! Eva comes out and scolds us for expecting it all to end with a cheesy little kiss. "NO! It ends with ME!" She tells us not to beg her to stay, because she can't even hear us. She tells us that our assignment is to look at the beauty inside one another, inside all of us dear lovely ladies. The truly essential things can't be seen with our eyes.

Eva giggles, "Gotta go!" She walks across an empty soundstage, stumbling in those ridiculous shoes, and the spotlights on the floor fade behind her.

Credits roll, and we see the PESE crew and staffers at work - the men and women behind the scenes who made all the magic happen for us.

Thank you, PESE staff, cast, and crew. And thank you, fellow recappers and readers and Melinama. This was truly a pleasure, and I'm really sad that it's done.

THE FINALE WAS AWESOME!!!!

This was one of the best finales ever!
La Paloma

It was a terrific finale. I loved the way they went back & answered all our questions form last night.

Yeah! One more Eva sighting -- great ending.

All the baddies got perfect retribution. And one of the baddies turned soft.

And Lucia! Good twist.

Loved it!

Güera

Loved it.
Thought the whole cast playing musical instruments was great, but why wasn't Kevin playing the harp?

Amor Manda has a lot to live up to.

Hi All,

I also really loved the ending, just like everyone else. Does anyone remember the old TV show where the host walked out on the spotlights just like Eva did? I was thinking either Red Skelton or Carol Burnett or someone else. Thanks!

Peace to all, Tiempe.

Yes...my favorite part was the very, very end where we got to see Eva one more time. Tiempe, I remember Carol Burnett often ending her shows walking off into the spotlight dressed as the cleaning lady....I know what you mean though...watching Eva walk off had that same feel.

I thought it was interesting that we never saw Helena "showing" her baby bump. Not on stage when she was announced as Pres. And not during Mario's visit...and we never saw her or Juan holding their child....but we saw the little girl in her grandma Silvia's arms at the wedding.

Are we to assume that JC still works at GI in some capacity...? there was the cute scene where he was chasing Helena around her President's office.

Fun, fun ending overall.

I also liked the salute to the crew and to Rosy Ocampo...the producer, during ending credits. Gertie

My head is spinning, but I'll tell you the things I loved, as they percolate through the swirl of wonderful scenes.

* I like that Marcella wasn't easily won over, but she was at least willing to put Fer on a long probation and let him prove himself.

* As soon as I saw Antonia's ashes in the car, I knew my husband's prediction was right (at least mostly) - that it was the ghost of Antonia who prompted Pluto's crash.

* I love that as they ran the credits, they showed not just Rosy O, and a few cameraman and gaffers, but a huge portion of the production crew - writers, editors, the works!

It was strange that neither Juan nor Helena ever held their baby. I was hoping they would use Camil's daughter in the scene since she was just about the right age, and she looks like her daddy, unlike the baby actor they used.

And the very final scene, with Eva in the vacant studio - marvelous. I was laughing the whole time, not just at her antics, but I think it was residual laughter from her character from the past many months. Like when you look at a photo from an outing with dear friends, and you start laughing because you remember how much fun you had that day.

And as much as I loved the final bit with Eva, it also made me melancholy. I'll never get to see the show again, I'll never get to see la mujercita bella again, I probably won't see a TN that's this good for another five years, and there's a substantial chance Camil won't ever do another TN.

Dang, I love this show!
Dang, I hate that it finished!

Awesome!

And last night I was LIVID because obviously there were huge amounts of story missing, and I couldn’t believe that they would edit so much out that we wouldn’t even have the pleasure of seeing the complete ending (the satisfying TN resolution - evil punished, good rewarded, love prevailing, all story lines tied up neatly with a bow) after months of following the show.

I couldn’t believe my eyes – there it all was! There might have been scenes with the baby that we didn’t get to see, but otherwise, it looked like it was all there… the BEST ending I’ve ever seen on a telenovela.

More when the recap is up. Thank you, recappers!

And I loved the parallel with JC fleeing the cops because he was unfairly accused of fraud and Pluti fleeing the cops because he was justly accused. The fog, the sirens, the squealing tires were almost identical. And then they each went off the road and into the ravine. Even the scene of the falling car was almost identical.
But -- Pluti's fate was so much worse than death. It's one of the most satisfying comeuppances I've ever seen for a villain. And I loved that Fairbanks' money burned up in the wreck even though Pluti was only partially burned.

Güera

Thank you, Gertie.

Carol Burnett as the cleaning lady is perfect for Eva to emulate.

Peace to all, Tiempe.

It was a great, great final -- and the two hours flew by! My only complaint -- and I am the last person you would ever expect to say this; trust me -- was NOT ENOUGH BABIES. The whole point of "años después" is to get to see the babies! But I have to say Rebe's little Italian was the cutest infant I've ever seen on a TN -- and she did seem to love him.

Loved, loved, loved the last goodbye from Eva. I will miss her so much.

Tiempe, Alfred Hitchcock also used to step into the spotlight to moralize at the end of his show.

Sorry for the delay, everyone... I am having technical difficulties with a browser that won't let me log into Blogger and crashes whenever I try to do something in Yahoo (which is where I have Madelaine's part of the recap). No problem - I can try a different computer. But I'm annoyed that I have to have trouble today of all days!

There were two pieces of business that I thought were unfinished. Variopinta already mentioned the first - I thought it was odd that Kevin wasn't there in the band with his harp. Perhaps that's another cue that this is an imaginary band in Juan's mind. :o)

The other unfinished business was Helena's baby. I never noticed it, but Gertie saw Silvia holding it. I'll make sure to include it in the recap.

Not unfinished, I guess, but I would have enjoyed seeing it, would be Daniel's fate. He's going to keep getting in trouble. (Maybe I missed a little dialogue - I watched without captions earlier but will watch WITH captions when I finish the recap.)

Like Paula, I'm feeling melancholy about the ending, cheerful as it was. I'm going to miss Eva, and I'm not holding my breath to see another one this good in a long while.

But rather than focus on the dubious future, let's remember how much we enjoyed this TN and how lucky we were to see it!

I'll try to figure out my issues with the browser/Yahoo/Blogger and I'll post this dad-blasted recap, come hell or high water. (High snow seems more appropriate...)

Loved it all, sorry to see this one end. Even if my spanish comprehension was good enough to get it all on my own I would still come to all you wonderful recappers. You make me laugh with all your little snide comments. Please keep doing what you do.

It *was* cool the way Juan's little band of "angel-monkeys" turned into people he knew & loved. That was a wonderful device. It probably signified his coming down from his fantasy world and realizing that love love love love love is what it's all about. (I admit I tuned out Eugenia's monologue and just watched the pretty pictures, but I got that much.)

I thought it hysterical that the father of Rebeca's baby is Onesimo, those are some frisky swimmers. Too bad they couldn't find a baby that looked like him.

Off to watch my recording, but I couldn't resist reading the comments. Looks like I have a good two hours to look forward to. Yay! I'm also looking forward to the recap. I'm sure this will be a wonderful tag team effort.

Variopinta, did you catch Onésimo telling his jail buddies that his grandfather came from Czechoslovakia? I bet that's really true -- it would explain the actor's Slavic look.

Plutarco's car chase reminded me of PSYCHO, when Janet Leigh was wearing the white underwear before the robbery and black afterwards. The whole scene was identical to JC's, with the exception being the color of the car. JC's was white (he was innocent). That was a good idea!

The bad idea was Pluti's look in jail. Are there no barbers to cut the hair of the prisoners? C'mon!

Interesting observation about the black/white thing, Pablo. As for Pluti's hair - I don't think he can afford a barber!

Really? I thought the prison offered those services to the inmates. Maybe not. But, Couldn't he exchange something for a haircut? Not money because Onésimo is making him pay for every little thing and he's broke. He gotta have something worth the haircut ;-)
I think this is just to show us the opposite extreme, since he was always painstakingly coiffured and well dressed and all...

I almost dropped this one somewhere in the middle when it started to get draggy, but glad I stuck with it. Excellent ending and thanks to all the recappers!

I can add more when the rest is up, but maybe we'll get to see Eva again some day. In the menatime, has anyone seen/heard of the movie "Chiapas: El corazon del cafe"? It stars Jaime Camil (probably not in drag)and is showing at the Latino Film Festival this week.

Kelly

Julie- I thought Daniel was being sent to military school by his father. It's not as good as jail but hopefully it's not a co-ed school.

Kelly

I know it was over the top but I loved the deterioration of Pluti's look -- from shiny and sharky to shaggy.

Another great parallel-- Rebecca ending up a madre soltera after all her snide remarks about Helena for that very thing. And it seems that she also has been redeemed by love. -- Love of her little Czech has replaced her love for large checks.

Güera

Madeleine, how exciting to recap the final with Julia. I love the way you broke it down by one solved mystery after another. Rock n roll! You gotta love modern mobile technology, I'll be checking in on Julia's half from the produce aisle at Trader Joes.

Clever writing that Rebe wound up una madre soltera after all the staff meeting humiliation she attempted to dump on Helena about that. Notice the lack of makeup and bling? Rebe was wearing less makeup than most telenvella nuns!

I attribute Plutys etch-a-sketch prison hair to the regular beatings he is getting from Onesimo and One's jail posse. He probably doesn't have anyone to wheel him down the hallway to the prison barber.

Hated seeing Antonia's ashes spilled....but her spirit is alive and well and continues to live in her new little niece! How much do you want to bet they named the Baby Antonia de la Rose. Gertie

Excellent love it...Guera and I were obviously writing our posts at the exact same time...we wrote almost identical comments about the new madre soltera! Gertie

Big checks/little Czech! So funny, Guera!

Adri did say when Mimi was pregnant that it would be a girl and called her "little Toñita." Presumably JC & Helena named their baby Silvia Eugenia (or perhaps Eugenia Silvia.)

Best recaps ever. Lots of stuff I didn't get, so glad someone does.

I missed the Czech bit. And doesn't Rebeca look different? No money for the hairdresser, but they couldn't have repossessed all her animal prints.

Tks so much to all the fantastic recappers.

Little Czech comment - brilliant!

Gertie, you're a TJs fan too? I should've known, in light of all the other similarities we share. If you're ever up on the Central Coast, look me up and we could meet somewhere for lunch!

Pluto's living hell was so satisfying.
* He bullied everyone for years, and now everyone bullies him.
* He showed no human compassion, but rather did a happy dance for the deaths of Juan, Antonia, Mendoza, and Adriano. Now his jailmates delight in his suffering.
* He feined love for Adriano and Helena while he plotted their downfall, and Rebecca as well, but it was those three in particular who brought his downfall.
* Because of Pluto, GI's lawyer Mendoza assisted in GI's downfall instead of benefitting the company. So Pluto's lawyers cost Pluto Toni's whole fortune and didn't provide him any benefit.

Great job, Madelaine and Julie! Thanks a melon!!!

Mads and Julie- Brilliant work! Thanks for the joint effort. Julie- I'm looking forward to your additional details later.

ITA with you all that this was a great final episode. Everyone paid their dues (except maybe Daniel), even JC. So much of it was poetic justice-- Pluti's accident like JC's accident, plus the involvement of Toni's ghost-- surely those pants went up in flames so quickly because of whatever shiny material they were made out of; Rebe impregnanted by Onesimo and then a doting single (and plain jane) mom; and Onesimo in jail for 30 yrs, but now the boss over Pluti. Good stuff.

And of course, all the happiness with our couples. I was happy to see Fer embrace his house-husband role. This is what I wished for him. Glad that neither Silvia nor Eugenia took their ex hubbies back, but instead found friendship with them. Really, all the couples had good ends. No wedding for Santi and Lucia. Yay! They both needed a break from their wedding fixations. I liked seeing Renato introduce his boyfriend to Modesto. Modesto's face made me LOL, but the old guy is trying.

Thanks, everyone, for all the great recaps and comments! I've enjoyed this show, but coming here has added so much. It must take a huge amount of work to put the recaps up - you all are so appreciated!

I have been out of the country for weeks so I couldn't watch the show but I got home in time for the finale - very satisfying indeed! Anvils all in place. I thought Pluti was going to be killed in the crash, but no - his suffering will go on for years. What a payback! Good to see all the happy endings, too.

Madelaine and Julie - Thanks. Loved your vivid recap.

Enjoyed all the comments. I haven't been able to keep up with Eva for several months, but I had to fine out what happened to everyone. How low Pluti has fallen -- I remember how he use to stare at himself in the mirror wearing nothing but briefs. Rebecca having Onesimo's baby -- I would've never predicted that, but I'm glad she got redeemed through single motherhood. Loved Toni's ghost having a hand in Pluti's downfall. Eva stepping out on stage - perfect.

First of all, a big thanks to Madelaine and Julie for a great set of recaps for an outstanding finale!

It was genius to show what happened to all of the characters as time went on. This is always what is missing from most finales and here we don't have to wonder what happened to anyone.

I loved that:

Adriano was ready to "give them a piece of their own chocolate"; Adriano told Mimí she was the woman who had given him the best night of his life.

Antonia(her ashes) got the ride of her life and her ghost literally held Pluterco's feet to the fire.

Onésimo finally got Rebecca to give in (too bad he became stupified at the same time :( )

Onésimo was at the top of his game and prestige in the prison system. Pluterco not so much: so sad too bad!

Rebecca was a single mom and Onésimo was the father. How appropriate!

Helena was so strong in helping Adriano trap Pluterco.

Eva's farewell making sure it all didn't end with a "beso cursi" a "tacky kiss."

I will always be a "mujercita bella" :)

Jarifa

I was hoping for more from Rebecca. Nice that she loves her kid and all, but surely she would have come up with something to make lots of money. She's still Rebecca. Maybe she could design trendy animal print baby clothes or invent some baby thing that every hip mother must have so her baby isn't made fun of in the daycare. Something that she can lord over Angelica.

Wonderful, wonderful recap of a wonderful TN. This one was so well put together, I was happy to see the production crew get credit at the end! No monkeys with typewriters here. Thanks, Madelaine and Julie for your work on the fin and entire series.

It was so satisfying that the gaps were all filled in and we were shown the whys and wherefores of the plot to ensnare Pluti. I also liked how all the couple relationships were resolved, even to Renato introducing his guy to Modesto. And Juan got to "rescue" Helena to some degree, while Fernando messed up trying to save Mimi, true to form.

Pluti's punishment was such poetic justice (see list from Paula). I loved seeing Antonia as an instrument of his fate, trapping him in the car and cackling. It was good that he lived on to suffer in prison, crippled and scarred while Onesimo lorded it over him. I liked his deranged look with the longer hair--gave him the look of a wild beast-man, a far cry from his sophisticated sharkskin image.

It was interesting and fitting that Juan had to do a little time. I was pleased that the Playa M project was not forgotten and that Helena gained her due position. (Renato as well.) Adri and Mimi snuggling on the beachside bed was a sweet scene. What was it he said about a strong northern baby?

I would have liked to see a tiny bit of footage with Lalito and the new baby sister, but we'll assume they're happy.

Rebe and her bebe--the little Czech! This entire sequence was just great and an effective payback. Hard to know if it was punishment, redemption, or a little of both. He's quite the cute and sturdy little lad. Didn't she say he had to earn his way?

I can see an entire spinoff TN coming from this. We've seen others with a single mother struggling to give a life to their child--we could have the early years, how his mother trains him to either shoplift to do well in school, and how he meets his jailbird father in his late 20s.

The wedding was charming and given a little different twist with the orchestra. I love how earlier Juan's orchestra of beautiful babes morphed into mature Juan's orchestra of family and friends. Eugenia's monologue about love tied a nice little bow on it.

And even better--Eva came back for a tart little wrapup speech, telling us to accept everyone. It made me smile and cry together, I so hated to see it all end.

Somos todos Mexicanos!
La Paloma

Julie....thanks for Part 2 and to all recappers for your work and dedication To PESE. I would not have enjoyed this as much without your translations and wise-cracking comments!!

I am glad some of you will also be recapping the Calunga comedy. Looking forward to that!

I recall last spring when Camil and Lucero were promoting the show on my local Spanish-speaking station, that Camil was the clown (an incredibly handsome one) making all the interviewers laugh and Lucero was not just laughing but encouraging his antics. They both knew they were part of a success. I knew that this would be a wonderful comedy because of their chemistry. I loved coming to this blog because all of you were so pleasant and we all got to stay pretty anonymous. Very cool and inviting.

Yes...Paula H...next time I am headed up north I'll give you a holler!. Gertie

Sorry, I dropped a word. That was either shoplift OR do well in school.
La Paloma

La Paloma- I was thinking more like stage mom-- turn her little blonde, blue-eyed boy into a Televisa or music star (like her beloved Ricky Martin).

Vivi, you're right about a child star/stage mom dynamic. The boy has the looks and Rebe has the chutzpah!
La Paloma

Rebe said something at the end to the baby that I didn't quite catch -- something about how she wasn't ever willing to work hard and do without when it was just her, but she was willing to do it for him. Can anyone translate?

My "closed caption" stopped working just as Eva appeared at the very end. What was she saying ? That re-appearance made me happy. Thanks to all who posted on this blog.

This was just the dearest novela ever and I am so very grateful to the magnificent recappers, one and all.and one last time, thanks to Madeline and Julie for capturing all the morsels of the finale...including the oh-so-fitting demise of Pluti the sterile. Other than the juustice of the jailhouse scenes.. what a charming ending with the beloved musicians...and then the return of Eva herself. This show has been a joy and thank you for making it accessible to someone with my very-limited Spanish skills. I miss you already!

what fun that was. great surprise to see eva one last time. i kept wondering if one of the babies would be named eva.
too bad all the resolutions to all the guerra de los sexos plots got real preachy. but that eugenia's dream came true was awesome. i had flashbacks to her halucinations.

the one thing i found missing was antonia floating round on fluffy cottonballs with or without angels singing aleluja. it would have made perfect sense with the band being populated by characters, and i don't think i was the only one with a real shine for her. i found it shocking that they spilled her ashes.

was the czeck comment to explain the baby's very blue eyes? i was sad that One didn't find out he was a daddy. (or did he and i missed that?)

mai-tai

For anonymous whose closed captioning stopped working: Eva yells STOP and is appalled that it is all going to end with a tacky kiss and two neanderthals like it was some sort of novel. It is ending with HER. Yes, she is going on her way but does not want us (the audience) to be ridiculous and to go shouting "Don't go, Evita" "Don't go, Evita." She will slap us if we do. She tells us to never forget that the most important thing is to remember to look inside of people especiallly dear beautiful women (mujercitas bellas) where what is really essential is invisible to the eye. She is leaving it as a homework assignment or task. She laughs, says she is going and then says goodbye.

I hope this helps.

Jarifa

Thanks for the excellent wrap-up! That was a fun finale.

I loved how the characters did an even worse job of pretending to play their instruments than the angel orchestra always did. Adriano in particular was just dragging his bow diagonally across the bridge of his violin. I have to think their blatant non-playing was a deliberate joke.

That baby was a cutie. I imagine Rebe will eventually have money again. She is nothing if not ambitious and relentless. I really enjoyed Renato's expression when she opened the hotel room door. Such bemused triumph.

Reading all this, the recap and the comments, gives me such a grin! I may never love another TN as much as this one, but I am looking forward to Porque el amor manda, the recaps and the comments as my espanol keeps improving.

Thank you Jarifa for that wonderful explanation of Eva's final (funny) good-bye to viewers. You made my day. -Chris

maitai, the Czech comment referred back to Onésimo mentioning in prison that his grandfather was from Czechoslovakia.

Thank you, Madelaine, for a recap that clearly showed your excitement for this show. And Julie I hope your technical difficulties resolve themselves. I'll still look forward to your wit as you flesh out this last capitulo. It's been fun sharing this with all you guys. It's funny how much fictional characters can grow on you... and how knowing that nothing more will be written for them feels a little like death. Eva's exit at the end was appropriate for how many of us are feeling about it all being over. Bittersweet. I'll look forward to the abridged version on DVD. I know many of you feel they tear the heart out of a show when they do this, but it will be a way to remember some of the fun this show has brought us. When I watched Knot's Landing being rerun on SoapNet, I said to people, you'd think already knowing what's going to happen would take the enjoyment out of it, but it doesn't. So I'll keep up with Eva in that way.

Thank you Madelaine and Julie for the double duty.
What a bittersweet day. I didn't want this novela to end but the ending was good. I'm glad that the Virgencita answered Rebeca's prayers and kept her out of jail and gave her a child to are for. Maybe now she can be a better person.
I was ecstatic for Adriano, he ended up with everything that he wanted and needed- a loving family.
What enjoyment I had in seeing Pluti's anvils drop one at a time.
The orchestra was excellent and that Eva ending was the best. I will miss this show and I'm glad that I was a part of it.

Thank you so much Madeline and Julie! I got a big kick out of reading your recaps, and was astonished to realize how much happened in 2 short hours.

Like Betty La Fea, this was a telenovela with a Point, and I thought the ending really made a warm and wonderful concluding statement.

I loved that Eugenia and Slyvia found they were better off without their husbands, and didn’t stick with them como Dios manda, even when the fellows saw the error of their ways. I also loved Eduardo’s speech on Thursday about how machismo is not only bad for women, it’s bad for men too.

I loved that the Sax on the Beach ladies, who long ago gave up their woodwinds for strings, were replaced by the family and friends of JC and Helena, and that their music (read: love) was the background, and support, of their love – I think there was a big metaphor going on there, and I really liked it.

I loved how Eugenia’s speech about amor started at the wedding, and faded into her one-woman show. It really was a lovely speech, and put into words the source of the happiness that all the characters were feeling, now that evil had been vanquished and the men had learned not to be so hard on the ladies, or on gay guys.

I loved that being Eva not only changed JC, but through her, educated the other men.

I was astonished to see that the writers found a way to repair Fern and Marcela’s marriage – a way we could actually believe. I was equally astonished they found a way for Adriano to lose his big love, Eva, and not be completely devastated. (I was also astonished that somebody who just had a heart attack at his wedding was engaging in fisticuffs with no ill effect.)

I got a tremendous kick out of Antonia’s ghost actually pulling Pluti back into the car fire.

I was surprised that the writers also took the high moral road with the law, and JC got some jail time. Rough! The poor guy wouldn’t have gone through that whole Eva thing if he hadn’t been falsely accused in the first place. Looks like he got a private cell, though, so he wouldn’t have been kicked in the slats by other inmates like Don Pluti was.

Blue Lass, or anyone, i get that One said it (czech grandpa) in prison, but why did he say it? especially in the finale where lines are supposed to stitch up plot holes. i feel like i'm still missing the point.

for example, if it were russian, it might explain his don of the mob-like behavior in jail.

what was the context? my best guess was that the character's line was there to link the baby's caucasian looks to the verdadero padre. (though i would have gone for sweden or finland).

maggie, i too liked eduardo's "machismo cuts both ways" comment.

and thanks so much to the recappers! if i could i would rub your feet!

are there murmurs about what show comes after Amor Bravio?

mai tai

Mai Tai- I believe One specifically mentioned to his jail buddies that because of his family's Czech background, they have this genetic quirk where some of his relatives come out looking very fair...then we cut to Rebe and her very fair baby.

I believe Que Bonito Amor will replace Amor Bravio. It's the Mejia remake of Hija del Mariachi with Jorge Salinas, Pablo Montero and Danna Garcia.

Hmmm, interesting repeated mention of Czechs in telenovelas. Here it is in Onésimos family. In LFMB it was the underwear model who was half Czech and kept calling don Fernando "Pavel" (Pablo). What is this Czech connection???? :)

the previous Czech post was by Jarifa

Argh, I'm so sorry, I'm still dealing with a cranky bird and I'm not feeling too well myself.

As for the technical difficulties, they were solved by rebooting. Go figure. Don't know why I didn't try that in the first place.

Anyway, I still want (and intend to) finish my half because there's a lot missing, though commenters have already covered a lot of it - thanks! At least it takes away some of the urgency. Hopefully I will feel better in a little bit and can finish it then.

Paula H : why do you say there's a good chance that Camil won't do another TN?

My first TN. I have a feeling any others I'll be watching will have some pretty big shoes to fill. I loved it,and without you recappers it would have been a different experience, like I wasn't watching it alone. That was soooo fun. Thank you all. Gail

Anon, after Tontas (what a fracaso!), Camil said he wouldn't do another Mexican TN because the schedule is so brutal - 12-14 hour days, 7 days a week, through the run of the show. Then he did LEPerez which was made in Argentina where the labor laws don't permit that kind of brutal schedule. After LEP, he FREQUENTLY said no more Mex TNs.

Then he spent two years in LA, trying to break into the US market, with no success. Along came PESE, a role he couldn't resist because of his comedy skills, but also because his US career wasn't working.

Now he's pursuing a US career again, and because he's changed his tactics a bit, things are looking more positive. The man was born for romantic comedy movies, a genre which Mexico doesn't make, while the US is the originator and the mastre of the genre. If he starts getting English work in the US, I can't see him ever going back to TNs. Perhaps Mexican movies or theater, but not TNs.

BTW, someone asked about his recent movie Chiapas. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know. I think he's a main supporting actor. There is also one called "1000 Cartas" or something, where he's in a supporting role, but it hasn't been released yet. Then "The Mexican Singer" which was renamed "Lost & Found." He plays a mariachi singer. Not yet released.

As for recent US work, there's a minor part in Elsa & Fred with Christopher Plummer & Shirley Maclaine (sp?), and he did a minor roll in a pilot for Lifetime Channel, called Devious Maids.

Julie:

Thank you so much for part two of this TN finale. What gold, amiga.

Who would have thought that Onesimo had Czech blood? That baby is very blonde too. I thought the baby was Pluti's but not with that blonde hair. That baby was so cute and it seems like Rebe turned into a good mother.

Loved the wedding of JC and Helena and that band was just wonderful, all their friends.

Mimi and Adri, YAY that was wonderful too.

Antonia getting her revenge was quite scary but Pluti deserved everything he got. Now hopefully Antonia is on her fluffy cloud enjoying serenity.

I cried when Eva gave her last soliloquiy at the end. I will really miss her. But I loved her speech and what she had to say : )

I also want to thank all the commenters for all the lovely comments for this grande finale. I also want to thank Melinama our Blog Mom too. This TN was such a joy to recap and so much fun. I will really miss it, but hey the DVD should be out soon, and I don't care how much they cut it, I am so going to get it : )

Mads, I know what you mean -- this may be the first TN I buy that I've already seen. I'm going to miss her so much.

Oh noes! I was being sort of disappointed with the finale (the wedding seemed lame) and when JC and Helena started kissing I thought, "Oh it will be more of the same to the end," so I turned it off. Now it seems like I missed some good stuff! If anybody knows how I can see the very last few minutes of this show please email me at caray@mappamundi.com - thanks all!

Thank you, Julie, for finishing this up for us. It was nicely written. My favorite line was about the moonlight shining off Pluto's suit. (I didn't see any of the testimony against Onesimo or JC- only the verdicts.) It was really nice to read it- I felt like I got to relive the finale. It reminded me I have it recorded on disc so actually I can relive it!

Melinama, I've watched episodes on hulu.com when I've missed them. They have the previous week for free. Further back requires huluplus, which costs.

Gertie, it's funny you said Rebeca at the end wore less makeup than a nun, because at the time I commented to a friend watching with me that she looks like a nun! The minute she started to suggest a 'game' to Onesimo I was shouting at the screen not to do it. I knew turning him down would spell the end for her. She really didn't deserve redemption but I was glad to see her get it. I suppose for someone like that being poor is as bad as any punishment. That baby really was quite cheerful, and I like to think he changed her.

The way Eugenia's monologue was handled was creative and beautiful. It was the perfect way to present the moral of the story. I, too, was surprised to see Juan get prison time but it didn't feel unfair. Although I repeated "five years and TWO DAYS?" several times. It struck me odd. I was glad they didn't cop out to have either Silvia or Eugenia return to their husbands, and having Marcela and Ferni back together just felt inevitable. And Eva doing the Carol Burnettesque ending was just what we needed to say goodbye.

Yep, five years and two days. I'm not sure why. I don't think it was explained.

They don't do jury trials in Mexico, so if you were looking for something with a jury, that's why you didn't see JC's and Onesimo's trials! They were shown, briefly, in a little montage - so we didn't hear anything, just saw quick cuts of witnesses giving their testimony.

For some reason we didn't see any of Pluto's trial. I guess they figured it would have taken a whole extra hour to do it justice (so to speak).

Thanks Julie for going back and fleshing out the final hour. I hope your feeling better.

I think they did One and Pluti's trail together since they were accused of the same crimes as accomplices.

Julie: I too hope you are feeling better.

Vivi: I agree with you about Pluti and Onesimo's trials. They were held together cause they were in it together from the very beginning. I just wish they had allowed the sound so we could hear them protest some, lol. I like when they charged Onesimo, cause he tried to deny the charge with Mimi, but he couldn't even look Eugenia in the face. He had guilt written all over his face. Pluti, on the other hand, denied, denied, denied. He finally got his just desserts!

Julie, thank you for Part II. Really wonderful!

Thank you both for the recaps. Wonderful!

I think we needed to see Onessimo's trial to remind us of who had testimony against him. But Pluto, we saw all the testimony against him in the rest of the cap - his crimes against Adriano, Helena & Juan all came to light.
