I felt in the recapping mood, so here goes. There was some pretty fair acting by the young man playing David in his scene with Vero-Gaby. He tells her he hates his mother. She lied to him about his father being dead. He was called a bastard by everyone in school. She killed 5 people, ended up crazy, and died in a fire. He also says that something made him want to embrace Vero when he saw her.
In Villegas’ study, Guerra goes on and on about Alejandro being their son, something that unites them forever, while Patti hears all.
David remembers that his mother had special eyes and he remembers how much she loved him.
Alejandro catches Max and Valentina together. After grilling them a bit, he says he’ll support their relationship.
Aracely looks fabulous in that black dress. She has dried her tears over David and has arrived at the dinner party. All the lobos are at the dinner party. The men drool over Vero-Gaby, with a combination of lust and greed. She gets in a dig at Antonia by calling her Señora Vidal, the name of her second husband!
When Patti goes inside the Villegas place to check on her son, jerk Alberto follows, wanting to see “his son”. He also makes a play for Patti. She asks him if he’s tired of ironing Antonia Guerra’s wrinkles and that’s why he’s after her. I love it. Later Alberto tries to speak with Vero-Gaby alone, but Antonia yanks on his leash.
When Alejandro arrives, Vero-Gaby walks right up and puts her arm through his, asking him to take her in to dinner, leaving Irene aghast.
We get to see a very funny scene as the actor playing Chacón knocks it out of the park trying to seduce Lucho in his burka. After Lucho knees him in the groin to get away, Gastón advises Chacón that “Fatima” is a trained bodyguard!
The dinner table scene is fantastic. Vero-Gaby describes her plans to help the poor in SPDO. When asked why this little town, she says it’s because Gastón is her friend and he described the backward conditions here. After Irene spills the beans about Ale being offered the bank position, Guerra brings out her claws saying that Alejandro has to stay at the mine.
David peeks in at Valentina rubbing lotion on her legs. He decides to “let off steam” by grabbing the poor maid, the niece of Poncia. De tal palo, tal astilla - like father, like son. She goes for the kisses but runs when he tries more.
At the end of the dinner party, idiot Aníbal tells Ricardo and Patti that, if things work out, Vero-Gaby will be the new step-mother!
Ale comes home to a bitch session between his wife and his mother. When Irene snarls something about Vero-Gaby being full of pride and superficial, he pretty much says: pot…kettle. He then reminds his mother that he’s an economist, hates mining, and can’t figure out why he hasn’t already left.
Vero-Gaby, Constanza, and Gastón have a good laugh over the high jinks at the dinner party, especially that Lucho overheard Guerra rip into Alberto about Vero-Gaby.
Alberto comes to La Fortaleza the next day, resumé in hand, to apply for the bank position. He goes on and on about his training in finance. He even snarks that some people in this town aren’t very smart, especially his present boss! He then goes for drinks with Ramón and tells him he’s in like flint, plus he’s pretty sure she goes for him as a man.
Lucho and Gastón are in the same place, and Lucho (with a wig for disguise) recognizes a third guy from prison. He calls him la comadreja Pérez (the weasel Pérez). Lucho catches up with the guy and offers to buy him a drink. Probably looking to pump him about his dealings with Ramón and Alberto.
Coincidentally, right after a visit from Doctora Vampira, poor Natalia, Valentina’s grandmother, has some health crisis. While La Tuerta “attends” the poor woman, she is absolutely bug eyed with fear. Alejandro notices this and also the woman’s reaction to his mother. Both Ale and Valentina have noticed how afraid the woman is, so maybe there’s hope for granny.
Aníbal has come to drool all over Vero-Gaby. He wants to be alone with her, but one of the burka clad ladies stays. It’s Constanza. While he tries to almost propose marriage to her, she pretends not to understand, merely saying she’ll dance the first dance with him at his inaugural ball. She gives him a big campaign check.
Prudencia declares her candidacy for the president of the club, while her idiot husband and idiot Irene try to talk her out of offending Antonia. But she has her posters already printed.
Gastón spies on Guerra arriving at the mine. He makes a phone call. Antonia has come to see Alberto and reminds him he was involved with killing El Tigre. Just then Alberto’s cell rings. Antonia can’t believe he took a cell phone call in her presence! It’s Vero-Gaby, offering him the bank job. He tells Antonia he’s resigning and has to meet with his new boss in a half hour!
Somehow Bianca gets coerced into throwing Eliana and Bruno a dinner party, for Eliana's parents to meet the Piamonte family. Ariel won't be home, but it's not like he is that important to the whole dynamic anyway...
Nico's mother, Nuria, calls Eliana's phone while the entire family (including Penelope) is present. The next day Nuria tells Penelope that Guillermo has a lover and soon P. puts two and two together about the identity of her father-in-law's amante.
The same night Nuria calls, Bruno and Eliana go clubbing; Bruno treats her badly, they arrive home arguing. Bianca, who is again outside her room and spying on them, hears them fight from the office and gets out just as Eliana is asking Bruno why he treats her so well when his family is ariound and he is indifferent when they are alone. Bruno sees that Bianca is watching them and tells Eliana he is in love with her and starts to kiss her pasionatelly, while looking at Bianca(!!! - and boy, is this scene messed up, what a punishment you chose, Bruno). Bianca is almost hyperventilating, she hides in the office again. Back in her room, she is thinking about Bruno kissing Eliana and then, the poem he wrote for Penelope; in his room, Bruno rejects Eliana, while he keeps staring at the perfume bottle that Bianca spilt.
Nina and her new boyfriend, Sebastian, spend the entore episode talking via texts and phone; Nina is pretty taken with him, but I kind of feel he is more interested in her money than herslef. Either way, I find Nina a lot less abrasive and child like in her interactions with him. At breakfast, Bruno warns her to be careful with this guy, he is acting like a big brother, but Nina is still very happy with all the attention - Eliana not so much (she even tells Bruno that Nina's new beau is surely somebody who is not worth it, just like him - then why do you marry him, Eliana?)
Mademoiselle and Flavia talk; Mlle tells Flavia to be careful what she tells Nina because with all the psichological problems that she has, things coudl end up badly. Later Flavia apologises to Nina for the stuff she said about Bruno, she was sure Bruno liked her (Flabia seems genuine in her apology for Nina, I hope this is the end of this)
Penelope ends up telling Bianca that Guillermo is cheating on his wife with Eliana; Bianca is overjoyed, she tells her sister this is Bruno's karma for cheating on Penelope (yeah, like that is your biggest worry). Some time before, Bianca even tried to tell Ariel that she believes the only reason ELiana wants Bruno is because of Ariel's fortune (whatever it takes to stop this marriage, Bianca, huh?)
Bianca decided to throw the dinner for Eliana's parent at the club, not at the house, and Eliana doesn't like this (I am not sure if this is supposed to be an engagement party, but if she doesn't like the club Eliana should throw her own party and stop whining).
At the club, when nobody is watching (except Bianca) Eliana meets Guillermo. She wants nothing more to do with him (nothing even happened between them), Bianca sees them and signals Eliana that this will be their secret - but, if you ask me, I think Bianca will spill the beans in teh middle of the party. If not, why would Penelope be so anxious to know what is going on at the party?
The tension between B&B is building up to such extremes highs, that when they do kiss for the first time it will be just unavoidable. It's not like they jumped in bed after a week, this attraction between them has been rising for months (TN time), if I am going crazy at home watching, imagine Bianca there, with Bruno just a few steps away.
No episode Friday, but I rewatched on Hulu, with Spanish captions, and learned a few things. First of all, Carin, is spelled Karen. Imanuol is really Imanol. Marcos calls Sofi "Toti" as a nickname, and calls Vicente Tio Cente.
After they made love, Vicente insisted that Flora start addressing him with "tu", which she did.
Agua Mala played the short tape of Mireya, and heard her says the following words to Robinson "por si nos volvamos a ver", in other words, in case we don't see each other again. She used that same exact line with Cande, I think, before he got shot at that same scene. So if he hears the tape, he's going to be mad at Mireya.
What Cande tells Agua Mala is that he's not with Mireya, he's just going out for money. And that Harvey has been using all of them for his own money, and will gladly discard them when he's done. Agua Mala knows this is true, Harvey was willing to abandon Cande for sure. Cande tells Agua Mala he wants to start a new band, without Harvey, where they'll really look out for each other.
I continue to wonder how Flora can come out of this okay. In Relaciones Peligrosas, I wondered how Mauricio and Miranda could end up together, and it turned out she had to serve 5 years in jail. In Alguien te Mira, I wondered how Piedad and Rodrigo(?) could end up together, and they didn't get married or anything, just were going to take things one step at a time.
So maybe Flora will have to serve some time in jail before she can be united with Vicente. Or maybe there will be some tragic shocking finale. One thing is likely, I doubt this show will end with a wedding! (although I'd like that).
AdrianaNoel - wow! thanks for shedding some light on why Bianca talks low about Bruno. I thought she was plain being condescending. now I get it. I really like your take on all things B&B!
you're right - the attraction between them has been building up for a couple months. yes, they're both slowly going crazy over each other... I'm simply loving it. It'll makes things all the more thrilling when they eventually have that first real kiss.
I'm glad Nina has a temporary distraction in Sebas. that'll keep her occupied and out of everyone's hair if only for a little while. Flavia's apology to Nina did seem sincere... thank heavens for little mercies.
thanks, Novelera. geez, I hope David does not turn out to be a rapist like his bio father.
Aracely sure is stunning!
Gracias, Novelera. Thanks for recapping a hilarious episode. I can't decide which was funnier - Lucho/Fatima bringing Lagarto to his knees or AniMal drooling all over Vero. And you could almost see the steam coming out of Irene's ears at dinner!
I loved the scene with Alberto Ass-pino telling Vero how qualified he is to be the bank director. I was surprised he could even talk since Vero was dressed in her nearly-see-though onesie.
Patty is in an interesting position now. She has info that both Ricardo and Ale should have, but she has to be very careful about what she says and to whom. And, if I'm remembering the bloodlines correctly, Ale is not a Beltran.
It looked to me like Ale maybe was putting the pieces together in his head, connecting what Gaby had told him about Dr. Aguirre and what is happening with Valentina's abuela. I'm hoping the poor old woman makes it to the end of the TN.
David is in for a serious attitude adjustment. Just when I feel some sympathy for his situation, he does something rotten (to Max, Valentina, the maid), and I want to push his face in. He's getting too old to be considered a spoiled brat.
And do you suppose the weasel is in town to help Alberto and Ramon steal from the Chamuco mine?
Beth
Terrific recap, AdrianaNoel. Thanks!
I also think Sebastian is waaay more impressed by the Piamonte money than by Nina. The guy is seems too handsome and sophisticated to be into Nina.
I thought the scene with Bruno being all protective about Nina was ridiculous. Nina is 18 years old and has never had a date? And the guy's big sin was to try to kiss her? I know he probably is a rotten guy, but on just the existing facts, it's crazy that Bruno is so worried.
They said long ago that Penélope and Nico's apartment was very small. But when they show where they live the place is a huge mansion with a porte cochere.
I'm pretty fed up with the repetitive scenes of Katia throwing herself at Yair. She's way too aggressive and annoying.
Bianca's behavior is pretty bad lately. They could have had a lovely engagement dinner at the Piamonte mansion. But I think she either wanted to embarrass Eliana by her parents using the wrong fork or she knew that Guillermo was there every weekend (or both).
I am starting to feel sorry for Eliana. She's being jerked around by Bruno. He's all over her trying to show Bianca he's sincere about the marriage. But, in reality, he's been sick and tired of her for a long time. And he can't help but show it when no one in his family is around to watch.
This is such an interesting mix of comedy and melodama you can't help get sucked in. I'm looking forward to seeing G/V get her revenge. She alreadyt has many of her targets on edge.
This is what I think about David. He is cursed by being Antonia's favorite, just like his father.
Somehow Alejandro was strong enough, or perhaps Aníbal's genes are a bit better than Antonia's first husband's genes. In any case, Alejandro resisted Antonia's controlling behavior his whole life.
Fernando was weak. Of course, they showed him as being traumatized by seeing his mother kill his father by injecting something into his IV. But, in any case, he married a woman he did not love at his mother's urging. Apparently he never was pressured to earn a living or carry his own weight because of her coddling.
Now David has been subjected to the same combination of coddling and control that his father received. It's not surpising that the result seems to be the same.
But I suppose we will eventually see that Tigre Suarez' genes will surface. I doubt he'll be such a terrible brat for the whole telenovela.
you reminded me, novelera, that yes, Bruno is a terrible boyfriend, much less fiancee. Bianca doesn't let him forget either. when Eliana said to him 'so you're trying to protect Nina from guys exactly like you?' I was cracking up. she could feel Bruno's not into her... so why stay?
Shallowgal, that is how I see Bianca's attitude toward Bruno; she appears to be rude and condescending, but that is her nature, when she tries to offend someone, that is how it will look; nad, let us not forget that she did marry a guy partly for being rich, so she is not completeley uninterested in money and self worth - she really has no reason to be impressed with Bruno, after the way he hurt Penelope. But just like everything else in this TM everybody says things that are true, but they don't say them because of that, but because they want to hide their real reasons, who, more often than not, are romantic.
As for the tension building up, at least this way it won;t look like some cheap affair when it actually happens; by the way they act around eac other, they are both completely head over heels.
Novelera, I noticed Nico's house, too/ Wasn't ot supposed to be a tiny apartment? Even before, when Flavia was complaining about how small it is, all I could see was a great place...these rich people
Bruno is an awful boyfriend and I am sorry, but Eliana doesn't seem that in love with him; she might be, but not enough for marriage; her talk with him when Nina's new bf was involved just proves that Eliana doesn't respect Bruno all that much. So, maybe Bianca was right in saying that Eliana is using him for the Piamonte money.
I agree that Bianca is acting very badly, but that is because she is very jealous and there is nothing that she can do about it. Nina has the being childish excuse, but Bianca has nothing - she can't hide behind Nina's back all the time - she has to keep it all inside/ And the way she deals with her feelings for Bruno is by constantly snooping around (which I don't really like, this could turn into something bad down the line); so, no, she is not a very nice person in normal sitaution, now being under so much stress, she is not even trying.
As for Bruno's behavior when it comes to Nina dating, what is there to say: she acts like a 12 years old and they treat her accordingly.
Well, I finally got around to seeing everything.
I thank the anonymous person who posted the link to RCN so that I could catch what I missed. I did notice, however, that they showed the same scenes in a different order from those that MundoFox showed. Very odd.
The final episode was pretty weird all right. For one thing it bugged the hell out of me that Smith did not get any retribution for his awful, vengeful behavior. He hated Manuel from the very first episode. And went to extremes to get even.
I had to watch Manuel's meeting with Internal Affairs online without any sub-titles in Spanish. So I gathered that the only punishment he got was to never work for the US government again. This drove Smith stark raving mad.
So the spooky looking guy in the courtroom when Alicia was sentenced was connected with Sandoval? He texted someone about her jail sentence. And, of course, crappy Smith thought 12 years - basically the rest of her daughter's childhood - was too light of a sentence. Gah!
So somehow Sandoval arranged for Alicia to be shanked in the prison? And I guess she served the rest of her sentence under house arrest, arranged by Altagracia, to save her from another attempt on her life in a women's prison?
It was fairly realistic that Lucía ended up with emotional problems.
And the masked guys who tried to get her at the end were Mexicans or else Colombians hired by the Mexican sister of the awful thug who tried to rape Alicia.
It was an ambivalent ending. We could draw our own conclusions about whether Manuel, who has mad skilz, got over that fence and saved Alicia. Or whether the Mexican sister killed her.
novelera - thanks for clearing some things up, as I only saw the last episode without english captions; that one wont air til tomorrow. ugh... for a very good series, that was such a let down of an ending.
did Altagracia and Laurens get married?
maaan! that agt smith sure was relentles. i guess especially since Lina died, or would that not have made a diff? he got 'dread locked guy' (name escapes me) in jail too.
my conclusion is, Alicia met her maker in the end; it's what she deserved.
shallowgal- Yes. Altagarcia and Laurens did get married and I thought they were given a lame/cop out ending. Laurens gives up her job in order to stay in Colombia and marry Altagarcia. Then we see her going stir crazy because she can't work, and she is not housewife material. Plus Altagarcia is baby crazy, and she is not. Then Smith offers her her dream job heading up a Unit in the U.S. (either L.A. or Miami, can't remember). When Smith did this, I got the feeling that it was more about causing trouble in her relationship with Altagarcia, than about rewarding Laurens for being such an awesome agent. Because if Smith can't be happy in love, no one can be happy in love!
The same time Laurens is getting her dream job offer, Altagarcia is getting his dream job offer to become the leader of his agency in Colombia. They both share their news with each other, and there doesn't seem to be a real solution. They are both hardworking and ambitious and they have both been offered their dream jobs, in different countries. It looks like they'll be ending their relationship.
Altagarcia then goes out and gets drunk with his partner and cries into his beer about the situation. A guy sitting at the next table joins in and starts bashing on Altagarcia's woman, which he takes offense to. Altagarcia beats the guy up, out of love and loyalty to Laurens, and spends a night in jail, where he decides she's important enough to him to give up his dream job. At the same time, Laurens realizes she's late, gets a pregnancy test done, and it's positive. When she picks Altagarcia up at the jail the next morning, he tells her he's willing to follow her to the U.S. But she then drops the baby news and says she's the one who will give up her dream job.
They imply that she suddenly is cool with becoming a mom of two kids (because his nephew lives with them) and a housewife. We don't even get a glimpse of her when they jump to 5 years later. It's like she doesn't exist anymore. I just don't buy that ending for her character. It doesn't ring true.
Thanks, Novelera, for the recap and the comments. I also think David will eventually turn his life around, and the Tiger genes will come through. I also think he will eventually end up with the maid, Cecelia (I think that's her name). She seems to like him, and if he ever gets his attitude change, it should include getting over his class superiority complex.
Veronica sure had a lot of costume changes in the episode, seemingly a different one for meeting with each foe. I agree, Beth, that white outfit she barely wore for her meeting with Alberto had him distracted.
If we ever do get to the actual revenge, the minor characters like Ramon and Lagarto would probably go down first. Alberto could also be considered one of these. We know Antonia and Alejandro have to be saved for last.
The relationship between Antonia and Poncia caught my attention right at the beginning of this TN. At first I thought Poncia was the mother of either Ferd or Ale, but I was way wrong on that guess. Maybe they're sisters, cousins, former chorus girls?? Depending upon the A-P connection, David and little Cecelia (thanks, Hombre, I had forgotten her name) could be cousins or even aunt and nephew, close or distant. But I could be wrong on this too. I now think the David-Cecelia relationship may eventually reveal some of Antonia's background and make her more vulnerable to Gaby's venganza. But what do I know. I love to speculate.
I do agree that David will straighten up by the end of the story, but his behavior now requires some form of painful and/or humiliating atonement.
After what Lagarto, Ramon and Alberto did, they need to suffer greatly. Lagarto especially enjoyed his part in torturing Tigre, killing Duarte and beating Gaston, and even if he didn't mean to kill Inocensia, he did intend to rape her and she did die.
Gotta go to church!
Beth
Thanks Hombre for clarifications of the spellings and the dialogue.
I also don't think this will end with a wedding -- and it will be very interesting to watch how Flora gets herself out of this huge mess Padrino Harvey got her into.
thanks so much novelera !!!
the shows lately have toned down on the action and depend more on subtle conversations,
like, as you mentioned, when Veronica called Antonia, Señora Vidal,
apparently Antonia is not Señora to any man,
not sure where the Guerra came from,
and what was implied when Veronica called her Doña instead of Patrona?
(Spanish proper names are still a bit of a mystery to me, with all the formality, titles, addons, etc., I recently learned that Carmen Villalobos' full name is Yorley del Carmen Villalobos Barrios)
I like it that Lucho has found a way to help,
was that a dead cat on his head again?
I kind of like Patricia,
if she has been unfaithful to Ricardo it has been technically not much more than some fine print in their contract, and after all of these years, she is still there, patiently waiting for anything Ricardo will give her, but alas, he can only go so far, and I think she is still hoping that of all of the men she has known, Ricardo will be her gran amor, and such passion that she has to give.
so what will she do with this new information on Alejandro, and if she never was repulsed by Anibal, she sure looks to be now, and maybe she is getting a better feel for how things are done in SPdO, and to what Antonia really is, she can't really tell Alejandro can she, because he will go straight to Antonia, maybe Patricia will do here own behind the scenes investigating first, I think she will be an important piece to Ricardo's recovery once he meets his mom.
Alberto quitting Antonia,
can you do that?
thanks everyone for your comments,
and thank you so much AdrianaNoel for your summaries and comments!
apparently the writers are just dumping this one out there,
and for me it takes hearing other views to get better oriented,
why does Nina going on a date with anyone scare me?
Santi is no dummy when it comes to some snuggling time with Eliana,
I think Katia will always be an apprentice to the mistress, Flavia,
always one of the help, except to the other help,
like novelera I too am feeling some sympathy for Eliana, she doesn't seem like a bad person, but she surely has been caught in the crossfire, and her relationship with Guillermo, that seemed to have happened during the times when the story was fastforwarding ahead and she and Bruno were separated, I know she opened that door, but was there ever an intimate relationship, or is it more like as she started backpedaling, the always-get what-he-wants Guillermo became obsessed? and she certainly has broken it off after Bruno reappeared,
maybe I got this wrong, but I thought Bianca, through Penélope, through Nuria, she set up the dinner at the club with the idea that Guillermo would be there, that it wasn't chance, and so forbidding did she look with her finger to her lip, and a certain confidence in her eyes, a young conflicted woman, Flavia's daughter, Señora Piamonte, catching Eliana and Guillermo together, yikes, this scene was almost as traumatic as the spilled cologne.
Jody and Hombre, I don't know if the ending will be bittersweet or just bitter. A lot of ugly secrets will be revealed. Will Flora end up "free" but with both of her brothers dead and Vicente despising her? Will Vicente die trying to defend Flora?
We viewers right now think we know everything -- but do we? Are there some big "reveals" still to come?
I wonder if Flora will get out of the current scrape by slipping out the back and having Karen go to the door. Imanol and Vicente will think that SHE is Flora Diaz.
Cande turned the tables on Harvey when he pointed out that Harvey had taken all the gang's cell phones. So if someone tipped off Calbache, the only possible sapo was Harvey himself.
I think I really detest Silvia. She is so passive-aggressive with her face of "yo no fui". It was inappropriate of her to tell Sofi that Vicente broke up with her. It felt very calculated, as if she KNEW it would bring Sofi running back to put pressure on Vicente to choose Silvia. And Sofi was better off in Paris!
And Marcos! Oh I'd like to see him squashed like a bug! Sadly, he'll probably slither away unscathed -- like the snake he is.
I've said this before: This is just a superb drama. If they run it again, I'll watch it again from start to finish.
Deb, like you I found the image of Bianca's "sealed lips" gesture towards Elianna to be full of threat and foreboding. Dunno why. We want so much to like Bianca, but she makes it hard. I am liking Elianna's character more now--she seems to have no hidden agendas, and she doesn't understand the bullets whizzing over her head from all directions. I had the impression she led Guillermo on a bit, but nothing happened. However, his outrage at her changing her phone number would suggest otherwise.
J in Oregon
I don't think anything happened with Guillermo and Eliana. He caught her "on the rebound" as it were. Bruno had just broken up with her because of her possessiveness, calling him constantly.
She is supposed to be a runway model and, of course, very beautiful. So the old goat made a play for her. They never really showed anything, but I think they might have alluded to a couple of dinners. He was planning more, of course.
His behavior in pursuing her after she told him she was with Bruno is just typical for him. He's completely selfish. He didn't get his toy and he's furious.
Eliana is so insecure about actually having landed Bruno that she won't be able to bear the dating a married man thing to come up, even if there was no sex.
Deb, I am pretty sure nothing physical happened between Eliana and Guilly - isn't this pet name lovely? :)), when she first got back together with Bruno and told Guilly on the phone that she can't see him no more, he said that he wasted so much time and now nothing? - for me it was impplied that they hadn't gotten intimate yet, that was meant for NY.
I don't dislike or like Eliana, she is just there, filling the fiancee role and causing angst for B&B. I do appreciate the fact that she is trying to get rid of Guilly (this name is growing on me, he is such a dog in heat) and who can blame her for wanting to marry Bruno? Seriously!!
As for Bianca, I am not trying to like her to much, she is not a good girl, I believe she is more like her mother than she realizes or wants to admit.
I was sure that the only reason she arranged for the dinner to be at the club was to expose Eliana's "affair" with Guilly. Now I am not so certain, anymore, I don't know why.
I don't mind her nastiness when it comes to the others (how she yells at Tere or Camila and other things she has done), what I do find bothersome is the way she is handling this Bruno mega crush.
He is keeping it all inside, punching his boxing bag, trying to build some bridges between them (like Eliana), while she is making no efforts to refrain herself: she is always sneaking around, snooping in his bedroom (LOVED the perfume scene, BTW), eavesdropping...her behaviour is a little obssesive, if you ask me, much more than Bruno's. There is nothing going on between them and she is already trying to manipulate his life (the talk with Ariel about Eliana only being interested in the money and some other stuff), she is always on his trail and in his face about this or that. Sure, he is not indifferent, either, but he can hold it together better.
And now, that I made such a nice speech about Bruno's power of restraint, I bet that next weeks he goes into Bianca's room and starts sniffing her stuff, too (haha, no spoiler, just wishful thinking)
Vivi, I felt differently about the way Laurens and Altagracia's relationship turned out.
All through the show she was portrayed as so driven by career, repeatedly pushing Altagracia away when he was falling for her.
He did all the work in their relationship all the way through. And I thought it was sweet that she decided to let him get the big promotion and decide to stay home with the baby. I'm sure she'll work again someday, but for the time being, she's making the sacrifice.
The job she was up for was Head of D4 Financial Crimes in Los Angeles. And she DID have a point that moving to the US could have been good for Simón.
So, in the end, she put Altagracia's career ahead of her own, demonstrating finally how much he means to her.
Deb, The Spanish naming convenions still confuse me sometimes but this TN has helped lessen the confusion a bit for me.
For a child, the father's last name is the first last name in your full name. Gabriela for example would be Gabriela Suarez Beltran since her father's last name was Suarez. Remember, her mother was a poor Beltran. However, it seems in Spanish naming practice, just because the mother's last name comes last, doesn't mean it's the most important one since Latin culture is still pretty patriarchal, as ours, so since her father is important Gaby is a Suarez, so her shorthand name is Gabriela Suarez. If you are a married woman, however, you add the husbands's last name to your maiden name. That's why Pati said her name was Patricia Montemar de Villegas.
The reason why Antonia was saying her last name was Guerra was because it's her maiden name and she's trying to erase the fact she got money and power by sleeping with and marrying the right men . She's trying to say she's patrona without any assist from the rich husbands she killed. Her name according to Spainish naming convention would be Antonia Guerra de Beltran de Vidal.
Deb, I think calling Antonia Doña was a slip on Vero's part-it's what subordinates say to powerful or respected people, the female version of Don and that's how Gaby used to address Antonia before the fire.As soon as she said it I knew it was a slip-up on Gaby's part that gave her identity away to Antonia. Vero exposed herself as someone who had been a subordinate because only subordinates say Don or Doña. If everyone at the table were listening correctly, esp Ale, calling Antonia Doña was a big tip-off that it was Gaby. She's the only person I remember calling Guerra that.
Guerra knows it's Gaby because Vero is doing what she did-climb out of poverty by guile and grit. She recognizes the game Vero is playing because Antonia herself has done it, and Gaby promised her TWICE that they'd see each other face to face. Even after the fire Guerra said to Irene that she was shocked it was so easy to conquer Gaby. Seeing this Vero person makes her realize that Gaby was indeed not joking with her and she knows it's the end of her.
Excellent explanation of Spanish names, J desde NYC. I work for a construction company, and we have 98% Latino workers, mostly not born in the US - and thus not using the North American system of naming.
What we do when we enter a new employee in the payroll data is hypenate the last name. Otherwise the second, maternal name is the one that appears alphabetically in a list. The hypenation causes the computer program to alphabetize by the middle, father's name, which is the correct way.
For example, books by Gabriel García Marquez are correctly placed in the library with the G's.
J, we're trading comments today! Actually I thought Gaby calling Antonia Guerra Doña was an insult. She certainly took it that way.
Don or Doña is the traditional way of addressing a person much older than you.
For example, I have heard rich young galans (at least the good guy ones) call elderly servants, gardeners, etc., Don so and so. So it isn't always the one with the higher station in life who gets the honorific.
I too thought Vero/Gaby was slyly insulting Antonia when she called her Dona. First, she did not acknowledge Antonia's status as "Patrona" and secondly she addressed Antonia as an elderly matron, something Antonia never wants to be.
Right now Vero seems to have the upper hand with Antonia, but I fully expect Antonia to come back at Vero with some evil scheme.
Patty and Ricardo are my favorite (odd) couple in this TN, and I still have high hopes for them. I think Patty has the intelligence and compassion to help Ricardo when the truth comes out about AniMal's horrific treatment and imprisonment of Constanza.
I'm eagerly awaiting the start of the two campaigns. I want to see the expression on Antonia's face when she sees Prude's campaign posters.
Beth
wow, thanks so much J desde NYC for your explanation of Spanish names,
and for your comments as well, novelera,
this helps a lot,
and on Doña,
I missed that part where Gabriela had referred to Antonia as that earlier,
good catch J desde NYC,
but I also thought that Antonia was insulted, by the use of that term,
as novelera said,
ah, elderly matron, thanks Beth,
anyway, let me throw in how my imagination and limited knowledge first interpreted this,
I was thinking Don/Doña originates from owner, a powerful person that owns the land and everything about it, including the people,
and that Patron/Patrona is more of an employer, a powerful person that evolved out of the love and respect that his employees give him.
and that Doña was a more fitting title, according to Gabriela, who has repeatedly told Antonia that she is not loved, and will die alone, and that this is how Antonia interpreted it to be meant, a theme that strikes at her inner core.
......................................................
on another note, when it comes to loving Antonia, (as mentioned at TW) there is this unspoken relationship between her and Macario, the one person Antonia is never condescending to (equal??), the one person that anticipates her decisions and never questions them, it will be interesting to hear their back story. (interesting that his character description in wiki refers to him as her accomplice as well)
[Francisco "Pakey" Vázquez, who plays Macario is new to me and I find quite fascinating]
Novelera- I see your point about Laurens needing to finally show her love for Altagarcia. But precisely because she fought so hard against getting involved with him, and then didn't even seem to be taking to married/non-working life, it seemed really unrealistic that she'd all of a sudden be on board to become a stay at home mom of two, and give up her dream job to boot! I think I would have been more satisfied had they shown something of her after the five year jump, because I would have really liked to know how things worked out for her. Her story just seemed unresolved to me because I did not picture her living happily ever after being a stay at home mom. I would have liked to know if she somehow was working with the Americans again, somehow got to work for the Colombians, or did something like start her own intelligence gathering/investigation company. Something, anything! It was just left in limbo for me. Like the end for our leads. :)
AdrianaNoel - I am so roflol with your "and starts sniffing her stuff too." hilarious! I'm with you - I don't like Bianca acting all jealous and devious. I hope she stops that.
deb - and your 'finger to her lip/ traumatic as the spilled cologne'.... how foreboding. I sure hope they don't turn Bianca into fatal attraction.
J in Oregon -omg! just now read your post, and saw 'foreboding.' great minds think alike.
I googled and apparently he's bald due to some disease. I think his baldness is what gets him baddy roles since galans and protagonistas have to have good hair.
In which dMart celebrates his first birthday in freedom.....
dMarts parents give him a surprise birthday party, they show up at his apt with presents and balloons. Though they are the ones surprised when they find Rafa in his bed, this would never ruin his first birthday celebrated by his family after being freed from prison. Everyone tells him good childhood moments, from his favorite teddy bear, to his favorite stories his mom read for him to sleep.
Meanwhile, the news that Eva Samaniego is alive spreads through prison. Luci learns that she is his half-sister through his father and wants to use that info as his defense during trial.
At the Mercader house, Sonia decorates the house for her sons party. Then, Aliva knocks at the door. Omar is pissed and demands that she leave, but Sonia lets her speak. In front of the whole family, she begs forgiveness for the horrors they had to live because of her. However, just like they could justify dMarts actions because he was a kid, she asks for the same thing.
At Vales house, she receives an unexpected visit from Rafa. The lawyer proposes to help her and accuse Zeke for hiding the evidence.
Later that night, dMart feels like a stranger at his birthday reunion hosted by Zeke, he prefers to go at his parents house and celebrate with his family. Arriving he sees the unpleasant presence of Aliva.....
Vivi in DC - muchisimas gracias! I just remembered - Perez dies. que the heck? he did not deserve that. and it seemed like Altagracia is now angry w/ Martinez b/c of that.
I also thought the Dona comment was intended as an insult.
Antonia's relationship with Macario is interesting and I'd like to know the backstory. For all we know he was a childhood friend/love and she cetainly treats him better than almost everyone else. There seems to be mutualrespect there and of course they will go down together in the end
Anyone watching this? I watched the first episode without any sub-titles and found it hard going with all the paisa accents. I like the cast, and it's a bit different from the usual. The Sunday replays have English sub-titles, and I got a lot more of what was happening on the second viewing. Can't decide whether to continue, because tonight starts the first Fernando Colunga telenovela in a long time. And this might bring me back to Univisión!
Three brothers swear vengeance because their father was kidnapped and then, after they scraped every nickel together to pay the ranson, the guerillas killed him anyway.
I find it interesting that both La Mariposa and Tres Caínes show the "revolutionary" guerillas as corrupt and more interested in money than doing any good in Colombia.
Would this be the opinion of the creators of the novelas, who may belong to the class with money? Or is it the reality of what happened?
Well, everything is really falling apart now. This entire episode was full of yelling. But first, we had our obligatory close shave. Imanol and Vicente are outside Flora's poor house. Imanol wants to show that Flora lives there. They knock on the door. Flora hides. Karen comes out. They're looking for Flora Díaz. Karen says, that's me, I'm the sister of Dixon and Cande. Imanol wants ID, but Vicente says let's not bother this young lady. Watusi walks up, and Flora, inside the house, thinks she's sunk. But Karen gives Watu a look, and after a little look of surprise, noticed by Imanol but not noticed by Vicente, Watu says, sure, this is Flora Díaz. Vicente tells Imanol he's really disappointed by him. Imanol later goes on the computer to look for the ID, but before he gets it, Flora has called Harvey, who has Agua Mala change the records, and sure enough, Karen's picture has the word's Flora Díaz next to it!
In the hideout, Cande criticizes Harvey for leaving him to die. Mireya gets in Harvey's face, too. But Harvey pulls a gun, and tells them all, tough, it's the price of war. If it has to be done for the good of the group, we may have to abandon someone sometime. So live with it! And remember, I'm the boss! Later, Cande, Agua Mala, Max and Mireya agree that Harvey doesn't care a fig about them, only is using them, wants money, and they have to stop him. The only one who's with Harvey is his cousin Blatcho, aka the Sapo, and Harvey tells him that he's to kill Candelario as soon as the Calbache matter is solved.
Meanwhile, Cande wants to kill Harvey. Calbache gets a call from the Shadow saying you can't kill him yet, not until I get the Santa Helena. Calbache tells Cande, if you have doubts, ask your mother. Cande goes to visit Belén. Agua Mala has shut off the security in the rich house to help him be able to talk freely. Belén tells him she doesn't know what happened, but Harvey said someone else killed her husband. Just wait for now. Belén then goes to visit Harvey, and at first he repeats that he didn't kill her husband, he killed the guy who killed him. But after a little badgering, she realizes he's lying, especially when he brings up that while she was married to Cande's father, she was Harvey's mistress! Belén then realizes that everything's coming out, that Harvey might kill Cande, so she tells Cande I changed my mind. Kill the bastard! She tearfully admits she and Harvey were lovers. But he's a bad man, and has to be stopped.
Sabroso confronts Harvey about paying for the operation and charging Watusi that super high interest. He says he'll pay back Harvey, but lay off Watusi. Harvey tells him, you'd better pay me back, or you'll find yourself under a bridge!
Silvie tells Imanol about Flora and Vicente being lovers. Imanol didn't know this, and this makes him even more anxious to investigate. Silvie also tells Vicente she knows. And by the way, there's one more show of the Santa Helena, and then it's being shipped back to Spain forever. Vicente is furious. I'M the one who's supposed to be in charge of it! Wrong, she says, the bank is. And you've been having your adolescent love relationship. Well, now you'll be free to do it. Have fun. Silvie and Imanol are now back in charge of the Santa Helena, Vicente is out.
Flora wants to tell Vicente the truth. Karen says ask Cande what to do. Flora tells Cande she's in love with Vicente, and he's shocked. He still thinks Vicente is bad, but Flora says no, he's good. He didn't send Imanol to beat you up, Imanol did it on his own. Cande says even if you tell Vicente the truth, it's too late, you've been involved in so much, he'll never believe you. The only thing we can do is leave the country, go far away. But Flora still wants to try to clear the air with Vicente before it's too late, and tries to call him. Of course, he's in a bad cellphone area at this point. Hah! Meanwhile, Sofi and Marcos confront Flora, how dare you! You just got close to Vicente for money, right? Flora begs them, no I really love him. Sofi spits out that she saw them in bed, so don't deny it! Flora's world is collapsing.
One nice thing was that Flora gave Watu a paper saying she's transferring her prize rights to Celina, so Watu can go on the dance tour with her.
But later, Silvie tells Watusi, you were right, Flora does have another man, and it's Vicente! Watusi goes crazy, punching Vicente in the mouth, drawing blood. Flora was my wife, and you stole her!! We're really getting into final chapters now, as secrets are coming out, and emotions are exploding!
dMart is unhappy that Aliva is at his birthday party,he intends to throw her out, but Diana stops him saying she invited her. Because of dMarts pride, Aliva prefers to leave.
The night gets worse when Felipe Ríos appears. Martin gets completely out of control and demands an explanation. Not knowing that this man is his father, he decides to throw him out, despite being partners, he's a heartless mobster.
After so many upheavals and surprises for one day, dMart returns to his apartment and opens the birthday card that Aliva left for him. Inside the envelope is a pendant he remembers Aliva gave him gave him when they were children, she stayed with the other part.
The next day, Martin receives a visit from Miggy. While they were talking about Vale and everything she did to cover up Aliva, the boy mentions that his mother is going to a psychiatrist, a Donato. Upon hearing the name, dMart remembers, it was he who subjected him to electroshocks as a child, and fears him the same will happen to Aliva.
Immediately, Martin goes to her apartment but is told that several paramedics took her away early. Without anyone else to turn to, he asks Zeke to give him the address of the Office where he was taken when he was a child.....
Alejandro does it again...
He sees something is wrong with Valentina's grandmother, he takes charge of the situation, a freaked out Natalia entrusts him with her last will, and Alejandro gets another doctor to check her out...
we never hear what the other doctor has to say, Alejandro has left the will where Irene (and then Antonia) have access to it, Antonia sees she doesn't have to wait for Valentina to turn 18, Alejandro wanders off to investigate his attraction to Veronica, while Antonia sends in Gertrudis to kill Natalia, and when Alejandro is rebuffed by Veronica, he summons Patti, who finally gets it, she is nothing more that his mistress, the last thing in the world she ever wanted to be,
and Alejandro gives us his clueless look.
Part 1
We begin where we left off Friday, with Eliana telling Guilly to stop chasing her, she is not interested; Bianca hears the entire conversation and when Guilly leaves, she goes to Eliana; Bianca is enjoying the situation very much, as Eliana tries to explain that there is nothing going on between she and the old fart, he is just after her. Everybody else is at the stables, looking at Fede's pony; Bruno realizes that Eliana knows Guilly, she promises to explain everything when they are alone.
After the lunch is over, and Eliana's parents are very happy with the treatment they were given, Bruno and Eliana talk in his car (he has a BMW, could this guy be anymore perfect??); he wants to know what is going on between Bianca and Eliana; she ends up by telling him the whole truth about Guilly, insisting that nothing happened between them and she only gave him the time of day because she was in a very bad place after their break-up. Bruno remembers overhearing the phone talk where Elkiana was telling Guilly to stop calling her and believes his fiancee. Very well done from Eliana to tell the truth, Bianca will have to find something else to break up the not so happy couple.
At home Bianca is on the phone with her sister, confirming her that Eliana is Guilly's amante and that she had the nerve to talk about him in front of Bruno; she is pissed that Eliana will tell Bruno her side of the truth, manipulating him into keeping the wedding plans intact. However, Penelope is more worried for her mother-in-law; Nico has a talk with his mother about the lunch at the club and when Nuria hears the name of the woman Bruno is marrying, she realizes she is the same person her husbad is cheating with.
In the mean time, Flavia is strolling in a mall, finds a very expensive necklace that she obviously can't afford. The sales girl, who knows Flavia, lets her keep the necklace for a day, to make up her mind about buying it.
Back at the house Bruno is looking for Bianca; he is angry as H*** with her, they meet in the living room. He demands some answers from Bianca: Why did you organize the lunch at the club? Why did you want to provoke a confrontation? Why do you care so much about me? Why did you keep Penelope's note? Why do you go in my room and smell my perfume? Why are you always following me? Bianca almost slaps Bruno as Flavia walks in. Their argument was so loud it is a miracle the entire house didn't hear it. Bruno leaves and Flavia wants to know what happened; she remarks that finally the jealousy got the best of Bianca and she couldn't pretend anymore. Bianca asks her ro stop medlling, they fight about Ivan a little, then Flavia complains that she has no money for new clothes, not even for Bruno's wedding. Of course Bianca denies the possibility of the wedding ever happening, but she agrees to give her mother a credit card to keep her calm (or, as I saw it, get her off her back with the Bruno thing).
Deb, you're so right. Alejandro is a real zero. His actions (and inactions) last night may have cost Valentina her inheritance, when she TRUSTED him with the papers (and he stupidly told Irene to look in his briefcase for the checkbook), PLUS, Natalia got killed! I've really had it with Alejandro, even though he doesn't mean to do wrong. At some point, you're responsible. Even that time when he inadvertently led the cops to Gabriela way back, we know he didn't MEAN to hurt her, but so what? Keep him on the list.
Now, I'm not saying Vero/Gaby should end up with Lucho, maybe she'll end up with no one, and that will be her punishment for taking her revenge a little too far.
We finally had a little payback, as Macario was arrested for trespassing, and beaten up by Veronica's guards. She told them to turn him in to the proper authorities (but aren't those proper authorities Lagarto?) Hmmm.
I laughed out loud when Alberto drunkenly bragged about how great he was!
And Vero and Gaston are now talking of bribing doctors to falsify results of the exhumation of "Gaby's" remains. Is it okay to bribe doctors if you're a good character?
Part 2
In his room, Bruno is punching his boxing bag. In her room, Bianca takes her diary, looks in the mirror, ignores Ariel's call; Bruno does the same and decides to leave the house for the night, he tells Mademoiselle that he will be sleeping at Eliana's (Bianca ovehears).
Ariel calls again and this time Bianca asnwers; she flat out lies that she couldn't answer the first time because she was in the bathroom; she starts to cry, saying that she misses him and I am sure she is faking it at first; but then, when she hangs up she is still crying and I realize this is not an act from her, she is really desperate for Ariel to be home because he is the only one who can keep her away from Bruno, who can keep her within a limit.
And Bruno sees this, too. He doesn't spend the night with Eliana (she stays at her place with her parents - the whole idea about her house being in bad shape was only an excuse for her to crash at the Piamonte's), but he goes to a hotel. He knows that after the heated confrontation with Bianca, he can't go home. I believe he is afraid that if he goes, something will happen, because Bianca is alone and they are both reaching their limit.
Bianca is in her bed, thinking about Bruno's questioning from before; he is in the hotel room, thinking about how she almost slapped him; we get a split screen of the two of them and I am on the edge of the couch, biting my pinky finger.
The slow built has been maddening, but it totally makes sense to have things happen so slow, because this is forbidden love, after all, and it needed to have some solid foundation, to look like more than a cheap affair.
Mademoiselle finds out that Flavia gave Katia her expensive robe as a punishment for the servants, when she sees Katia in another one of her night strolls, while wearing the robe like it were some kind of a precious trophy. Doesn't this woman know that a robe is supposed to cover you, not keep you naked?
In other servants news, Yair asks Don Salo to help him put down the rumours that he has something to do with Katia. Later, he refuses her in front of Tere and Camila, denying that anything has ever happened between them.
Guilly asks Nuria to do to dinner together, but she is upset, she wants the divorce, no matter what. Guilly talks to Nico about it, he looks very frightened that Nuria might actually go through with it; he is the typical cheating bastard that "can't live without his wife" but doesn't mind sleeping with other women on the side. He ends up telling Nico about ELiana.
Part 3
The next morning Bianca goes to pick up Ariel from the airport. She has a surprise for him in the evening, in their bedroom (if the surprise is the fact that she wants Ariel to move in Bruno's room while his nephew takes his place in the master bedroom, then I don't think Ariel will like it to much).
Flavia goes back to buy the necklace with the credit card that Bianca gave her off screen; she would like a pair of earings, too, thank you very much; on the way to the office Ariel receives a phone call from his bank; they want to know if they can approve a $8500 expense on one of his credit cards; he is shocked, asks Bianca about the card, she says her mother has it. Ariel accepts the payment, but he is not happy about it.
Bianca and Ariel arrive at the office, she is all happy and proud Mrs Piamonte style until she hears Bruno is at the office, too, he arrived very early. At first they think he is a hardworking man, but then they find him napping on the couch. He's had a bad night (I can only imagine...), he apologises. Nico walks in, he wants to talk to Ariel about something, B&B are left alone. Bruno asks Bianca if she wants something to drink, she says she wants nothing from him, but she looks at him like a cat who has just seen her favorite canary.
He apologizes for what he told her the other day (I really don't get this, since all his questions were justifiable), he says he even slept at a hotel because he was to ashamed to face her (I guess that is one interpretation). Bianca, always ready to come up with a half truth, says that she only wanted to find out if Nuria's suspicions about her husband were correct (because Bianca is practically a saint that cares so much about Nuria and her marriage - yeah, right); she never believed that he would be so in love with himslef to believe that her interest might be because of something else. Ariel walks in, she makes an entire spectacle out of kissing him (so it is ok if you do it, Bianca, but God forbidd Bruno have someone in his life, too); Bruno looks away, the show Bianca is putting is eating at him. Then Bianca leaves, with another intense look for Bruno. How Ariel doesn't see that something is going on between B&B will become a problem, because they are more and more transparent.
We get a montage of Bruno going shopping, for sunglasses, clothes and flowers. But they are not for Eliana, because they talk on the phone and he tells her he is busy with school and then, at night, he will be at home, with his uncle, who just got back from his business trip.
At home, Bianca asks her mother for the credit card back, she sees the expensive necklace and is very upset, asks Flavia to take the necklace back. But Flavia refuses and reveals what I believe will be her game from now on: if Bianca cuts her off, she will talk about the attraction between B&B, and how long will it take Bianca to act on the feelings she has and cheat on her husband?
In the mean time Bruno arrives home. On the passanger seat he has red roses. And, OMG, they are for Bianca, most certainly.
I know we can't give away spoilers, but please watch Tuesday's show, by the look of the preview, it will be a dreamy episode :)
Muchisimas gracias, AdrianaNoel. I feed off of your recaps, so here goes...
His BMW - blue as his eyes. did you notice also when they were in Ariel's office, how they're both in blue, and just brings out his eyes more? one could just drown in them. demasiado!
Flavia calling her daughter out on her jealousy... hopefully this will calm Bianca down a bit, so she's not so rabid; don't like it when she gets that way. Flavia was right about her keeping things down, and the volume too.
Yup, Bianca was crying real tears... of frustration over her feelings for him, and her inability to show him. She sure knows how to deny, deny, deny. She turned the table and accused him of being egoistic, when in reality he was right, but he doesn't know that.
Bruno sure seemed happy to be buying the flowers for Bianca. He just plain ignored Eliana after her parents left.
Nico is such a sweet guy, wish we'd see more of him perhaps interacting with Bruno, so they'd be buddies. They both certainly need one.
Soooo looking forward to tonight!!
Thanks Hombre for another wonderful recap. Flora's world has gone to heck, literally, and right now there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel.
Harvey is turning into a really horrible, heartless man and a 'mujeriesgo' (Susanah, Belen and Mireya).
I thought Watu and Flora were only engaged at the beginning of this drama. Was I mistaken?
Sorry, Novelera, I can't watch. I'm watching too many as it is, plus I don't have MundoFox on my cable system.
Adriana/Noel,I thought that AdrianaNoel, the necklace and earrings Flavia bought were $85,000 plus.
Jody, you're right, Flora and Watusi were only engaged. But in the Latin culture (and in several novelas I've seen), once that happens, the man already considers the woman his "wife". Of course mi mujer can be translated as my wife or my woman, but I think Watu was sort of claiming Flora as "his".
AdrianaNoel, I need to thank you for your excellent, as always, recap.
Yeah, Bianca is like a volcano getting ready to explode.
I hope Nuria does divorce Guillermo. I can't stand the guy. That BS about how much he loves his wife and can't live without her. But he can't resist chasing the pretty model. And the arrogance of the guy. He acted like it was perfectly normal for a beautiful young woman to want to be with a man 40 years older than she is - no problem.
Sorry, guys, I am not looking forward to Bruno and Bianca's eventual fall from grace. Ariel is too good of a man to have this happen to him. And, he tried to ward Bianca off at the beginning, talking seriously to her about the age difference. SHE was the one who insisted on going ahead with marrying him, mostly to make sure her mother didn't get him.
Sorry about the double use of your name in my comment about the dollar amount, AdrianaNoel. I was trying to move around the word sequence and didn't get it right.
It's great fun watching Antonia's blood boil. I LOVED it when the bodyguard grabbed her.
Vero actually suggested to her that she exhume the body, I think on Friday's episode. So she has planned to fake the results all along.
I really didn't think they were going to kill off poor Natalia. However, Cecilia did see Vampira inject her. Of course, a maid's testimony would be worthless.
It seems far fetched, but I suppose they're saying that Antonia will be Valentina's guardian now (since she's underage) and thus be able to siphon off her inheritance. She surely can't be planning to marry her off to David already. How old is David supposed to be anyway?
Right now David is a waste of space. He doesn't appear to be going to school. He spends his time putting moves on Cecilia or pouting about things.
I like Lucho and Vero's plot. They're going to get involved with the plan of Ramón and Alberto to steal gold from El Chamuco and have the money go to Vero instead. This way El Tigre's discovery at least partially goes to the correct place.
I didn't like David agreeing with his granny about digging up his mother. He paid no attention to Alejandro's comments about profaning her grave.
novelera - but what if it turns out to be true love? at least that's what I'm so hoping. how can one deny one's self of that? the attraction is so strong, they can't fight it. I don't think even if Bruno left the country it would dissipate.
Novelera, don't worry about the name, I make plenty of typos, too.
Just like Shallowgal, I believe this will be true love, because they are the main characters in this TN, so it is supposed to go like this. Sure, it is not a classic story, with a good girl and a good boy. They are both flawed, especially Bianca. But the way their attraction was built, it is noticeble they didn't just jump into bed after a week of living under the same roof.
They are both seriously fighting with the urge to be together. Bruno is gonna destroy that punching bag one of these days and Bianca is capable to deny even her own name if that means not admitting her feelings for Bruno.
So this is not something any of them takes lightly. Of course, Ariel will end up hurting. But,if we can repproach Bianca that she jumped into this, teh same can be said for Ariel: why did he marry a younger woman, shouldn't he be mature enough to realize they might not be very well suited?
There are many demonstrations in the TN that show Bianca's lack of maturity, but she does love Ariel. When she married him she didn't just do it to upset Flavia, she was also in desperate need of another father figure. She is not in love with him, but she is afraid that she might lose him.
But then again, she is young and she has the tentations right under her nose. Plus, she is no saint, either.
You must be right about the money, I wasn't sure I heard right. 85.0000! Wow! Ariel should at least talk to Flavia about this. We get it that he is good, but he doesn't have to be stupid.
not to gang up on you, novelera.... but Bianca and Bruno are young, and young people tend to do not-so-smart things, and make mistakes often. how were they to know that these feelings for each other would surface?
So many spot-on comments about Alejandro's brainless behavior. What a self-centered idiot! Natalia was not a well woman, but she did not have to die last night. Now Valentina will become a ward of Antonia and that will probably put the screws to her relationship with Max.
And there's got to be a special place reserved in hell for Dr. Death. She seemed to relish killing Natalia.
On a lighter note, I'm enjoying watching Gaston's amusement with the lobos getting caught up in their own dramas (Prudencia campaigning at the club, Antonia furious with Alberto, Macario's trespassing and capture at Vero's place, Alejandro showing up at Vero's).
I had to laugh when Antonia told Vero that she was "playing dirty" by stealing her mine administrator. Was this the pot calling the kettle..... And then Vero countering with "Oh, so you admit you own the mine?" The ladies reminded me of two spitting cats circling each other. I guess the gloves are off now.
I didn't mind David signing the exhumation papers. I don't like the fact that Antonia continues to manipulate him for her own reasons, but it's understandable that he's confused and wants some factual answers. Of course he doesn't know that "the facts" are going to be altered.
Beth
LA PATRONA
Thanks to Novelera and all recappers. I am more shallow than Shallow Gal. I am only watching this because I love the looks of Jorge Luis Pila. I watched a little in the beginning and then last night. I didn't realize he was brainless. I heard that he has a daughter named Lucia as he explained to Vero/Gaby, and saw the back story about the name.
Who is the mother of Lucia?
Many thanks
The intensity continues to build, episode after episode. Watusi goes to see Flora, tells her he knows, asks if she charged for sex with Vicente, or did it for free! She's outraged at this lack of respect, says she was faithful, didn't do anything with Vicente until she had broken up with Watu. He isn't impressed, says we're done, and when your whole world comes crumbling down, you'll probably remember what you had with me, and threw away.
Sofi likewise gives her Dad the treatment, how DARE you sleep with my friend! And you just waited til I went to France, right? We had a pact, a trust, and you ruined it. She won't let Vicente get a word in.
Marcos tells Sofi he's even more suspicious then ever of Flora, and thinks she has something more going than an affair with Vicente. They should find out. And the way to do it is to pretend they support Flora, then they'll get info from her. Sofi isn't really interested. But at the end of the episode, Marcos visits Flora in the rich house, says he can help her with Sofi, patch things up. Flora doesn't want to hear any of this. But the interesting thing is that Harvey is watching on the monitor, and starts to realize that Flora may have fallen for Vicente, which he had no idea of.
Meanwhile, Cande has a plan with Calbache to finally do away with Harvey. He tells Harvey that Calbache's men are outside, ready to attack. Harvey wants to confront them, but all the crew says you should stay here in the office, we'll fight them. When the crew goes downstairs, one by one they're shot with dart guns, falling unconscious to the sidewalk. Most of the darts were shot by Mireya. But then Calbache comes up and dart shoots Mireya, and then (apparently preplanned), dart shoots Cande. So they're all on the ground. Calbache goes upstairs, pulls a gun on Harvey, and says it's time for Harvey to pay the piper. Fine, says Harvey, shoot me. Not yet, says Calbache, and out of the shadows comes.....the Shadow. He's pissed off that Harvey has failed repeatedly to get the Santa Helena. Harvey says that Calbache ruined the first try, even notified the cops. It was all about revenge. Well, I have the RIGHT for revenge after what you did, shoots back Calbache. The Shadow stands up, has both guys put down their weapon, and looks right at Harvey saying, the Santa Helena is being shown tomorrow for the last time, you think you can get it? Harvey says no problem. Shadow isn't convinced, your guys have screwed up too many times. And now I'm going to exact punishment. He then whirls and shoots Calbache right between the eyes (no dart this time), KILLING him. Yes, Calbache, he says, you failed by hiring this incompetent Harvey. But as for you, Harvey, it's too late for me to start from zero. So you get the Santa Helena. You see what I just did to Calbache, who was my right hand man? So just imagine what I'll do to you if you fail!
The crew later find out what happened, and stagger back to the office. Harvey has no idea Cande set it up, so they're okay on that. He starts planning the hit on the Santa Helena. Agua Mala says it's impossible. Harvey doesn't think so. We see some foreshadowing with helicopters. Harvey talks about all the money and babes they'll get, Max isn't happy about this, and Harvey makes fun of him, oh, you miss your Jhonny? He says it sarcastically, and Max walks away angry. Cande says we want more money. Harvey promises that the crew will get ½ of the earnings from the Santa Helena. Cande later meets with Mireya, you, me, Max and Agua Mala should get it all, we'll get rid of Harvey and Blatcho. Mireya convinces Max to go along with this, playing on his anger at Harvey. And Cande knows that Agua Mala will also be on their side, he loves money. We later see Harvey tell Mireya, you, me and Blatcho will split the money, and we'll kill Cande, Max and Agua Mala!!! (This doesn't look like a happy family anymore!)
Dixon plays around with guns, he wants to be in on the big job, Cande tells him no way.
Silvie and Imanol are eating lunch in a cafeteria, and she says your life must be full of adventure, and you must have a girl in every port. He says no, I really just concentrate on my work. She flirts, what if WE had a little fun? No, he says, you're just on the rebound from Vicente, I would want to wait until you really were interested. Are you sure I'm not, she whispers, and he can't help kissing her. They go to a hotel, have sex, and he's surprised when she starts dressing. Aren't we going to spend the night together? Nah, says Silvie, I don't want any relationship with you. But, asks Imanol, what did we just do? We just made each other happy for a bit. And now, YOU feel what I'VE been feeling. Silvie is a piece of work, I'm not liking her very much at this point.
Flora talks to her Mom, saying after we get the Santa Helena for Harvey tomorrow, we should leave the country. Harvey will have what he wants, my life here is over, and I have to leave Vicente, it'll never work. Please come with me. Belen sympathizes with Flora, but is hesitant to leave. Flora finally gets a call from Vicente, he wants to talk. She has no idea how much he knows, this could be a very heavy conversation.
Who will live, and who will die? Our story is heading for a climax, as we're getting ready for one final desperate attempt to rob the world's greatest treasure, the Santa Helena!
Tonight Alejandro felt guilt for hurting Pati, but he jumped her bones anyway.
I feel sorry for Prudencia. She gives a really good campaign speech only to be ridiculed by her ridiculous husband.
Macario threatens to spill his guts after he ends up in the slammer for spying on Gaby.
Antonia, more despicable than ever, advises David to make a move on Valentina while she needs comforting. Way to guide the young along the right path, Granny of the Year!
For some reason Lucho doesn’t tell Gaby the truth about discovering that Pati is Alejandro’s lover.
Alejandro figures out in a NY minute what his mother is trying to do pushing David toward Valentina.
Ricardo shows up at El Dorado and throws a punch at Alejandro. This is a very sad scene. Ricardo basically says he turned the other cheek as long as Ale didn’t hurt Pati.
Gastón tells Lucho he may have a chance with Gaby because the love between Alejandro and Gabriela is an impossible love. And Lucho makes her laugh.
Antonia doesn’t play it very smart when she comes to see Macario. She blames him for being caught at La Fortaleza and demonstrates no sympathy for his being in jail. He then overtly threatens to expose the lobos.
In a disgusting scene, Antonia shows David the will making Valentina extremely rich. He smiles like he’s up for the game.
Max beats David to the punch and comes to sincerely console Valentina for her loss.
Antonia has figured out that Max is David’s competition. Meanwhile the charming David grabs Cecilia’s rear end and tells her she’s his.
Gabriela has come to the velorio in Antonia’s hacienda for Natalia. She meets Lucía and they seem to connect.
Lagarto tells Antonia and Aníbal the results. The body is a crispy critter, but the teeth match Gabriela Suarez’ dental records.
Poncia appears to be onto Cecilia and her feelings for David and is NOT pleased.
Patti tells Ricardo she’s leaving him.
David behaves like an idiot. He approaches Valentina and tells her his grandmother thinks they should be novios, and so does he. She tells him she loves Max. He replies that she should love him. After all he’s rich, and he can speak French!! Then he tries to kiss the bereaved granddaughter. Gaby interrupts and pretends this is a sweet scene of young love. Valentina tells him it’s just the behavior of a spoiled brat.
Uh oh. Antonia plans to go after Max. And she wants Aníbal to have Ricardo declare her in charge of Valentina’s money.
Gaby asks Max to be close to Antonia and David. Not sure what this is about.
Vale packs her bags ready to leave. Fed stops her with a gun and says if she leaves, he will kill her first, but Vale doesnt care, she prefers death over prison. At that moment Miggy arrives and begs them to stop their ongoing war.
At the psychiatrists office, he applies several electroshocks to Aliva. When dMart and Zeke arrive, they realize its too late.
Meanwhile, Diana continues to investigate about her biological father, she suspects Felipe Rios, the mobster who helped dMart in and out of prison. Rios talks to Sonia and begs her to let him see Omar, his son.
After the horrible sessions with doctor Donato, Aliva is taken to a hospital. dMart begs for her to get better, the idea of losing her made him realize he couldnt live without her, much less deny her love. His marriage proposal still stands.
However, dMarts moment of happiness ends when Aliva confesses that Vale killed his first love, Antonia.
Furious, dMart sets out to find Feds wife to avenge the death of Antonia.....
Part 1
Bianca and Ariel talk about Flavia spending all that money; Bianca tells Ariel to ask her mother to return the necklace, he is ashamed to ask. Then he wants to know if there has been any more tension between she and Bruno (yeah, some, I would say, hehe), Bianca denies it.
Ariel's sister comes for a visit, they all chat in the living room; Bianca tells Ariel she will be organizing an auctions, she needs one of his works, too. Flavia apologizes to Ariel for using what she tought was Bianca's credit card, she will take what she bought back; she throws a nice pity party, Ariel feels obligated to let her keep the necklace like an early birthday gift. Bianca is angry with Ariel's decision, but Flavia played her part in this to well.
Nuria and Penelope are talking about the divorce when Nico comes in with Guilly. He apologizes to Penelope, then to Nico for the past stuff, then he wants to get closer to Nuria, but she isn't buying it. Later, when they are alone and he says that nothing happened with Eliana, she points out that the fact that he would want to cheat is enough, so she wants the divorce no matter what. Good for you, Nuria, go seduce Ivan, I hear his lady love is a total beotch :)
Everybody is having dinner, Bruno arrives, he is wearing a suit and he looks like a million bucks. Nina sighs, Bianca can barely keep her calm, I am seriously considering becoming a TN actress and going to work for Telemundo. Bruno gives Bianca the roses in front of the ENTIRE family. Ariel is kind of upset (everybody else is very surprised, including Bianca, who can barely act the part of an offended aunt or whatever her game is these days). Bruno explains the flowers are for the lunch Bianca threw for Eliana's parents. In the kitchen, while Camila is arranging the flowers, Yair points out that no man sends roses to a woman he is not interested in. Really, Bruno, you can not make it any more obvious at this point..oh, yes, you can, just hold on for a minute.
Ariel decides to go to sleep early, he is tired after the flight. Bianca goes with him upstairs, but only stays for a minute, she wants to check her e-mails.
Everybody else decides to go listen to Nina playing the piano (except Flavia, she is tired - as in "has no interest in Nina's talents").
Santi, Mademoiselle, Nina, Ariel's sister (can't remember her name) are at the piano, Bruno walks in, he wants to sing (and boy, this man is gorgeus). He starts playing, Bianca hears it from the office, but still doesn't know it's Bruno.
Eventually she comes to the piano room, she sees Bruno. She is so taken with him, you would have to be blind and stupid not to realize she is completely in love at this point. And, to only make things more intense, Bruno looks at her, and by his eyes, you just know he is playing for her. She congratulates him, then leaves. Bruno starts to play a happy song, they all dance - including the servants in the kitchen (I guess Bruno is very happy for his hidden music love declaration - does anyone know what is the name of the song he played??)
After he finishes, they say that Eliana is one happy woman. Santi sighs, he is very cute in his crush for Eliana. Hey, I know! Bruno should marry Eliana and then when Santi is a little bit older, he could start a torrid romance with his cousin's wife (in this family, it would be more then natural).
Eventually they all go to sleep, except for Bruno who is left alone.
Mlle comes back for her phone, but by this time there is nobody else left in the piano room.
Penelope and Nico talk about his parents' divorce and how she knew about Guilly's affair from the whole club affair.
Part 2
Bianca is in Ariel's work shop, searching for a piece for the auction. Bruno walks in. I hope to God this is not a dream!
Bruno wants to know if she really forgave him. She says yes, all is forgiven, but he really has no limits in sending her roses. He still insists that she must be upset, since she is not looking at him. Bianca wants him to stop what he is doing because he is making her nervous. But Bruno needs to know that they are ok. Their song starts, as Bruno is closer and closer. Bianca, in a panic, demands to know what he is doing. Bruno only knows that he is playing with fire, but he likes it. Bianca almost tells him to stop but the words don't come out (If I were her, "stop" would be the last thing on my mind). He kisses her, as she just stays there, petrified.
Eventually she grabbs him by the hair and it's a very sensual and passionate move, but then gives him a huge slap and leaves.
They are both shell shocked; Bruno losens his tie, he can't believe what he did; Bianca stumbles outside the work shop and to the house; she is crying, frightened and excited at the same time. She meets Katia at the entrance,Katia sees that she has been crying. She tells this to Flavia, who, once alone, sees Bruno through the wondow, coming from the work shop, too. So, she knows something is up!
Bianca manages to compose herself a bit and gets into her room. Ariel is awake, but she goes into the bathroom. She rinses, uses mouth wash...whatever it takes, Bianca, huh? Then she goes to bed, but doesn't accept Ariel's kiss (that would have certainly made things worse). She just repeats him several times that she loves him. But in spanish "te quiero" - which is what she says - doesn't have the same meaning as "te amo" - which she doesn't say.
Bruno goes to his room, throws his jacket to the floor and grabbs his punching bag. But boxing can't help him anymore, that is what he used to do before, when he couldn't get to Bianca. Now, that he kind of "had" her, he is completely consumed by the thought.
If before he felt guilty....
Part 3
The next morning, Bianca wakes up with a cold, or so she tells Ariel. She will eat in bed.
At breakfast, everybody is present, except for Bruno. Ariel is waiting for him, they talked about going to the office together.
Really, Ariel, I think working is the last thing on Bruno's mind right now. And, sure enough, Bruno sneaks out of the house, only Tere sees him.
When she goes to Bianca's room with breakfast, Tere mentions how Bruno already left. Camila is there, too, with the flowers that she didn't get the chance to bring up in the evening. When the girls leave, Bianca is left alone with her thoughts; Ariel comes back, jokes that he should find a new wife, since this one is damaged (Heh, Ariel, if only you would know). He supposes that maybe Bianca caught the cold in the work shop, maybe because of the draft? (Ariel is on the roll today) Then he asks if Bianca chose a piece for the auction. She is like "WTF are you talking about?" but then she remembers why she originally went to the work shop and says that she couldn't choose because a noise - maybe a rat - scared her (something scared her, alright!)
Then Ariel finds out Bruno already left, and, once in his car, he calls him. Bruno is at the gym, Penelope is there, too, and hears how Bruno lies to his uncle that he had to go to school and he will be at the office once he is done.
Flavia goes to Bianca's room, Bianca pretends to be sick with the cold, but Flavia doesn't buy it, she knows her sickness is love related ("mal de amores") and she advises Bianca to trust her and tell her what happened, otherwise she will go insane; Flavia can by an ally and she is not as naive as Ariel is, to believe that those red roses were only an innocent thank you gift. She wants to know what happened in the work shop, Bianca doesn't tell her anything, obviously. They fight about the money again. Before leaving, Flavia points out that she is playing with fire and she doesn't know how to do it, so she will get burned.
Penelope calls Bianca, tells her she saw Bruno, he has a strange, misterious face, he must be really in love. Penelope is thinking of Eliana, but Bianca has other things on her mind; feeling her sister is a little bit distracted, Penelope wants to know if she had another fight with Bruno (not exactly a fight, but it did end up with a slap, soo...hehe)
Downstairs, Bianca is carresing the piano, remembering Bruno's face when she walked in and then his kiss. And, proving once again that she has a very active imagination, she starts imagining how the evening might have continued if she hadn't slapped him: a lot of kissing, some talk about Ariel and then, they take the smooching to the couch. Flavia snaps her out of the fantasy and demands to know what really happened between she and Bruno the night before.
Now, I am almost sure Mademoiselle saw B&B in the work shop, why else would she forget her phone in the piano room? I might be wrong, but things like these never happen without a reason on TV. Maybe she saw Bianca's slap, too, and decided to keep her mouth shut for now. Sometime down the line, this scene will be revisited, if you ask me.
B&B are definitely out of control now, especially since they both obviously got the big tingle wingle from that kiss. And with Flavia on their trail...This is getting sooo good!
Super Superficial - you have me roflol!!! you should chime in more often. nice to know I'm not the only shallow one. I must admit most of the time I watch telenovelas purely for the aesthetics.
Great summary, Novelera. I guess Lucho didn't tell Veronica about Ale and Pati, because Ale said it was over. If it were still going, Gaby/Vero would be angry, and Lucho would have more of a chance. Course, he doesn't have much chance anyway, although Gaston says his humorous side could work (Ale certainly has no sense of humor!)
I loved when Veronica said to Gertrudis, I guess you lost your only patient!
I think Valentina only has 3 more months before she's 18, so Antonia needs to do something within that time frame.
It was cute to see Cecilia confirm by her expression that she actually likes David, despite his rudeness. She smiled when he said she was "his". I don't want her to be hurt, but I still have hope that eventually David will turn his life around.
I also liked Prudencia's speech.
Macario also suspects Lagarto/Prudencia now. He knows too much, and may be the first to go. Veronica is smart to turn all the baddies against each other.
Anibal is so pitiful when he sucks up to Veronica (with Coni standing right there in disguise!).
The writers seem to be in no hurry to move things along. Each day they give us another tidbit in Gaby's revenge scheme. And that's fine by me.
Thanks for your very descriptive recap of last night's oh-so-melt-my-heart episode, AdrianaNoel.
When Bruno was playing the piano with his eyes closed, then opened them to look right at Bianca.... wow! Flavia saying to Bianca that she is lovesick... right on the money.
I did wonder why they seemed to just randomly throw in that scene where Mlle goes back to get her phone.
I was cracking up when Flavia's voice broke Bianca's reverie in the end.
thanks so much novelera!!
and for your comments as well Hombre,
so Alejandro just walks right on past Natalia's death without making any of the obvious connections, how does he do that,
(interesting that Veronica made them all)
and then later when Ricardo confronts him about Patti, he manages to turn that all around, after all it is now over, (and how did Antonia not pick up on this loud argument in her house),
and later when Max leaves, Antonia looks out the window and sees him, security seems to have suffered after Macario moved to his own place.
and I was hoping when Macario was set free, it would be obvious to him it was Veronica's doing and not any of his patrons, there is a definite crack in his relationship with la patrona, it would be interesting to see him swing his allegiance to Veronica, or at least have some respect for her.
was Alberto's new bank office in an abandoned building?
thanks so much AdrianaNoel, for your wonderful and amusing recaps!
wow, I have never been so involved in a kiss before, the emotions were really churning on that one, how long will it be before we see them again in the same room?
interesting that Bruno's roses were plunked down in the middle of Bianca's bedroom, I think Ariel noticed as well,
Ariel who swallowed the $80,000 for Flavia's necklace for the sake of family harmony has to be one of the nicest people that has ever existed,
anyway, back to the theme of this story, pasión prohibida, (pasión being used rather than love), is this how it is?
Bruno, who could probably have ANY woman, snagged as an orphan from a world that had turned upside down on him, and raised by a caring Ariel, Bianca is probably the only woman he can't have, oooo.....
and Bianca, struggling to be free of her mothers manipulations, and reeling from her fathers death, enters into a loveless marriage, but with all of the intentions to be true to her vows, and prove to all, that she is NOT her mother,
moths to a flame....
.
Muchas gracias, AdrianaNoel, for the excellent recaps! You captured "The Kiss" and atmosphere of the surrounding events really well, thanks!
Ariel's sister is named Francisca/Francesca.
How shrewd is Flavia, not only did she maneuver the $80,000 necklace, but she definitely can read her daughter.
Flavia said Bianca was playing with fire, same thing Bruno said right before the kiss, "jugando con fuego.....y me gusta."
Noticed B/B were both wearing royal blue, and in the scenes right after of their reactions to the kiss, they mirrored each other with similar gestures to mouth, hand in hair etc.
Ariel needs to try staying awake a litte longer!
Is Bruno gonna go through with marriage to Ekuana? Don't think we saw her last night.
And, as others have said, I would definitely not want to be living in that house!
Clara
Shallowgal, I watched twice the scene at the piano, just to catch their reactions better. With all the people in the room, the still couldn't help themselves!!
Deb, you are right about Ariel, that is a problem with all the good guy types - they make them to good, borderline stupid, if you ask me - I think we are supposed to feel even worse for Ariel, but as far as I am concerned, I couldn't care less about him right now. The kiss was smokin'! And keep in mind Bianca didn't even kiss him back, she was to shocked; the only reaction that could have helped her save face was the slap, but she won't be able to slap him every time.
Kudos for the way you summed up Bianca's motivation is marrying Ariel and also Bruno's situation. Theirs trully is a forbidden love, I would not want to be in their shoes.
Clara, thanks for the aunt's name, I always forget it.
I got the royal blue part, too, and I've seen plenty of hints about how better suited for one another are B&B then Bianca with Ariel or Bruno with Eliana or, God forbid, Nina. Right now they are both going through similar emotions, still fighting what is happening.
Funny that you should mention Ariel staying up a little longer. We always see him sleeping alone in the bed, while Bianca is strolling the house in her Bruno quests. And last night, when Bianca finally got into bed, the way she looked at him, all I could think of was: she is looking at him like at an old man. Ariel is still good looking, but he holds no candle to Bruno.
Can't wait for tomorrow and can;t wait to debate with all of you after. It's really entertaining and insightful every time.
NovelaMan, thanks for all the recaps!
I thought what was going on is that Juan is unable to father children. Omar (older than the twins?) was adopted, but she was raped by Ríos and thus he is the father of DiegoMart and Diana.
Sorry about putting up a quick summary and forgetting to put the title of the novela at the top.
Good point, Hombre, about Macario knowing that Verónica was the one who got him out of the hoosegow, while Antonia appeared to not give a rat's patootie that he was there.
I so hope Antonia doesn't get away with robbing poor Valentina.
Is it possible that Poncia may step in about the David/Cecilia thing? She knows plenty about Antonia and does not want her niece taken advantage of.
The scene with Pati and Ricardo was so, so sad. She's right. If he says he loves her, why wasn't he ever willing to seek help for his sexual dysfunction. And he's right that she knew about it before they married. But she obviously thought she could cure him.
Deb, you noticed Alberto's office. Yep, it looks like Vero either bought or leased a space for the bank she's starting up to lend money to the folks in SPDO. I'm sure Alberto is going to want a big remodel and fancy furniture!
I'm really enjoying this novela, but it appears that Pasión Prohibida has more fans here.
Novelera, I don't know if Pasion Prohibida has more fans in here, actually we are not that many, just a bunch. But we are pretty passionate about it; and thank God, this passion is not the forbidden type because we can go on an on about the TN and we never get bored.
I've wanted to start wathing La Patrona for a while now, but I can't seem to find the time for it so far. One of these days...
I do watch Made in Cartagena on and off, but I made no comments because I am not that commited to it, although I do like it a lot. I guess it's just a chemistry thing with the characters, the story, the sets...
But i had to laugh at Valeria with her Cruella DeVille disguise.
Watching this is like waiting for a torpedo to hit a battleship--you know it's going to be ugly but you can't look away.
AdrianaNoel, I get so much out of your recaps, thanks. What happened to Bianca's promise to Ariel that when he came home early from his business trip she would have a 'surprise' for him in the bedroom??? Also, in addition to Bruno and Bianca, Flavia was also wearing royal blue last night, a coquettish chiffon number with flutter sleeves. Could Flavia be a mirror of Bianca's 'dark side'?

When Cruella discovers her son has been kidnapped, she knows dMart isnt capable of killing him, so she refuses to answer him and remains hidden.....
A super action packed episode, and to be honest, I didn't totally understand everything that happened, so corrections are welcome. Yesterday I forgot to mention a few things. First, Vicente has a secret ally (don't know his name), and he signs some papers to do with the Santa Helena. Neither Imanol nor Silvie know about this new guy. Imanol is working with Sanchez to make sure there's top security for the final exhibition of the Santa Helena before it's sent to Spain. Sanchez says what about the part that's missing? Imanol says we're working on a plan to get it back.
The other thing I didn't mention from yesterday is that Cande told Flora he had a plan to get Flora out of this, get the best of Harvey, and make them rich. Flora said okay, but promise me Dixon won't be in on it, our Mom can come with us when we leave, and that no one will get killed. Cande doesn't exactly promise this last one, as we know he wants to kill Harvey.
Agua Mala looks at the memory card again, and this time it's clear, Mireya pushed Robinson into the line of fire, got him killed! Agua Mala is furious, goes after Mireya in a rage, but Cande grabs him. Mireya then tells him Harvey plans to kill all of us, if you don't believe me, check your computer! Apparently it recorded Harvey's plan to split the booty with just Mireya and Blatcho. So Agua Mala plays it cool, but he's not happy with any of this.
Vicente has his talk with Flora. He says he knows when a young woman is so upset, she's almost about to explode. Flora holds her breath, here it comes. But Vicente was talking about Sofía! Flora sighs in relief, and a few minutes later, Vicente and Flora are saying I love you and kissing. He wants her to look really nice for the exhibition.
Harvey gets Flora in the office, are you in love with Dominguez? Because we heard that Marcos saying he was going to smooth over something Sofi saw. Flora covers, Don Vicente just kissed me out of the blue, boom, and Sofi happened to see. Do I love Don Vicente? Are you nuts? He's the guy who killed Robinson, and has been doing all these things you've been telling us. Of COURSE I don't have any feelings for that man!
Belén gives Flora an envelope from Cande. It contains some earphones and a note. The note tells Flora we're coming by air. Remember to put in the earphones. I'm going to drop the Santa Helena, and you pick it up. I'll take care of the rest.
Vicente picks up Flora, dressed in a super short minidress, looking fantastic as usual, to take her to the exhibition, which is outdoors, next to the water. The Santa Helena is in a glass case. Silvie has her usual spats and jabs at Flora, pretending she just wants the best for the happy couple. But, she asks, do you really think you're up to being on the same level with Vicente? Flora ponders this.
So here we go! Cande goes to an airfield, knocks out a guy in a flying uniform, takes his ID badge, puts on a similar uniform, puts on the badge. He then goes out to a helicopter, pulls a knife on the pilot, you're going to take us for a ride, don't try anything. The other crew members (Mireya, Max and Blatcho) come up, all wearing the same uniforms, and holding a vest, filled with explosives, which they make the pilot wear. The helicopter takes off, heading for the show. The crew put on black masks and goggles.
Flora gets a text message from Cande, don't forget to put in the headphones. But how can she do this without being seen? All of a sudden the helicopter approaches, and Vicente, Imanol and Sanchez all start trying to waive it away, it's not supposed to be so close. No one's watching Flora, so she puts in the headphones. Blatcho then drops some high tech balls down to the ground. I think it unleashes some kind of piercing high pitched noise, and no one can hear, everyone is grabbing their ears, but Flora's okay, she has the earphones. The crew drops ropes, descends to the ground, starts heading for the treasure. But Sanchez, Imanol and Vicente have recovered enough to fight them. Cande puts a rope around the Santa Helena's glass case. There's chaos and confusion. Sanchez pulls a gun on Mireya, she acts quiet for a second, but she's cagey, Sanchez hesitates a second, she kicks him and gets away. Then he grabs another of the crew, and looks in his visor, seems to recognize them. But with all the fighting, the crew can't get the Santa Helena, and they grab the ropes to the helicopter.
They're lifted up, and the rope pulls the case of the Santa Helena, but it falls over and breaks, dumping the treasure on the ground. In the mass confusion, no one sees, and Flora picks it up and puts it in her bag! The helicopter pulls away, but everyone's hanging on that one rope, and it can't support their weight! What to do? Someone stabs Max, and he falls to the see (anyone know who did it?). Back at the base, Harvey and Agua Mala see Max fall, and are shocked. The others manage to clamber back into the helicopter. They fly it a little ways away and land. They get out, tell the pilot to get lost, if he talks, they'll kill his whole family. Then they put the vest in the copter, Blatcho pushes a button, and the copter explodes! This was just to destroy evidence, I guess. The cops see this from afar, and investigate, finding no trace of the pilot. Vicente wants to see if the remains of the Santa Helena are in the copter. Silive (who may have a concussion) says he should just go with his little girlfriend and let the bank officers take care of this!
Flora is super nervous with the Santa Helena in her bag, and Vicente seems as if he might look in it, so when he's distracted, she goes over to a little grate on the beach, and stashes the Santa Helena in it, behind the grate and a few bricks. She later talks to Cande, who was hoping she had it, but he'll try to retrieve it.
Sanchez says he recognized one of the robbers – Candelario Díaz. Max didn't die, he's washed up onto the beach, and is picked up by an ambulance crew. Some cops won't let the ambulance go by itself, they insist on following it to the hospital. But guess who's the doctor in the ambulance? The Shadow! After throwing nails on the road, disabling the police car, they get away. Shadow calls Harvey, you got the Santa Helena? Harvey gulps, well, no, but we had a man killed. Wrong, says the Shadow, I've got him here. I think he's going to make it. But you and I have some matters to settle. Harvey REALLY gulps!!!
Thanks Novelera for the excellent recap. CC doesn't always work, esp if we're having weather problems, which we have the last few days. I hadn't caught the parts Tuesday night about the autopsy and the teeth matching Gabriela's dental records and Poncia being displeased about Cecilia's feelings for David.
I guess Prudencia never learned that it's not nice to talk bad about the dead. She may have moved up to the first-to-fall position on the venganza list. Antonia certainly looked pithed about the club pres election and like she's ready to stick it to Prude.
And I wonder what the boys (Gaston and Lucho) will tell Vero (and Coni) about Patricia and Alejandro. Their conversation showed how conflicted they are. On the one hand they want to be truthful with Vero, but they genuinely like Alejandro and they don't want to hurt Coni's feelings with info about Ricardo.
So Ale-Oops ran into the hacienda yelling, told Valentina not to sign anything and then ran off. Somehow I think this is going to be another of his missteps, but I don't see how it will play out.
Antonia's determination to get Valentina's inheritance is frightening. Her plan to take David and Valentina on a romantic trip to Paris is sick. She probably wants David to get Val pregnant so they'll have to get married.
I was so glad to hear that Vero anticipates that Antonia will try to kill Valentina for her money. Maybe Vero can protect her.
I haven't had time to watch Pasion Prohibida but I do read the recaps. Sounds like a great story. My favorite right now, though, is La Patrona. I'm definitely hooked.
Beth
J in Oregon, I LOVE your torpedo comparison, I feel the exact same way; the story will most definitely get very ugly as time goes by. But, just like you, I am eating it up, always in a frenzy, always dieing to see the next episode.
Good ovservation about Bianca not giving Ariel his bedroom "surprise"; by the end of the night the surprise was on her.
Bianca IS a mini Flavia in training, she has all the ingredients to become just like her mother; she hates her for cheating, but she will do the same thing and, as opposed to Flavia, I am not sure she will be smart enough to land on her feet. There has been plenty of foreshadowing about how her lack of maturity will ger her into trouble, the "playing with fire" theme is always present. I hope this doesn't end bad for Bianca...
Oh, and you know who else was wearing something blue? Nina. A thin belt strapped around her waist. (I think I am starting to read to much into this). If I were to choose a pair for Bruno (and Bianca was not an option), anyone would be better than Nina. And talking about her, she still has that child-like style, but in the inbetween scenes she is very much changed. I think we'll have a Nina makeover down the line.
Part 1
Flavia wants to know what happened with Bruno the other night. Bianca says she was crying because Bruno was playing one of her father's favourite classical songs. It's a good save, but I don't think it will be enough for Flavia.
Then Bianca goes to her room with my favorite new character, her diary. She is still on the first few pages, though, although she is always writing something in there. She stops, takes out the necklace Bruno gave her for Christmas and starts to talk to her father's picture - she asks for his help in fighting her feelings.
Bruno is now at the office, Ariel asks him to be more responsible, this company will be one day run by him. Bruno feels very bad, but he might just well get used to this feeling.
Penelope is visiting Flavia, Francisca is also there; they talk about Fede, then about men becoming devils as they grow older, including Bruno (Flavia's words). Penelope gives Bruno away on the fact that he was at the gym in the morning. As Bianca walks in she mentions how strange he acted, he must be really in love ...with Eliana. Francisca is surprised that Bruno has it in him to fall in love like this, Bianca really looks sick now, which Penelope also sees.
At school Nina talks to her friend about Sebas. They haven't even kissed yet, but the other girl (Clara, can you help me with the name this time, too?) suggests that Nina could lose her virginity with this new guy and maybe forget about Bruno. Nina denies having feelings for Bruno (seems like all the women who love him have a difficulty admitting it - I would NOT have this problem).
Later, as Yair and Santi come to pick her up, Nina gets a visit from Sebas. He is with his motorcycle, but Nina can't go out with him and his other friend, she has to go home. On the road, Sebas and his friend drive recklessly to impress Nina; Yair is very upset, once at the house, he tells Mlle that Sebas is driving a moto. Mlle is very worried, makes Nina promise her she will not go with Sebas anywhere on that moto (if she wants her father not to find out what he drives). After that Nina fights with Yair, asks him to stop meddling. Poor Yair is so upset, he even considers buying a moto, too.
I guess now everybody will go crazy trying to defend a never been kissed 18 year old from the bad moto guy. Not saying that Sebas is not up to something, but they are already exaggerating when it comes to Nina. On the other hand, motos are not very safe and Nina has never been on a date, maybe she should start with something less "dangerous".
Bianca talks some more with her father (via necklace): when she got married, for her it was the real deal, she doesn't know what is going on with her now.
Bruno is looking over the ocean (I guess), rocking another blue shirt. He looks lovesick.
When he gets home, he asks Tere about Bianca; but Bianca is in her room, sick with the flu. Bruno actually believes this, he starts to harass Flavia in order to find out the ingredients for the remedy Bianca once prepared for him.
I am not sure if that was the intention, but the scene with Bruno in the kitchen preparing the remedy, while Flavia looks on, rolling her eyes and knowing Bianca is definitely not sick and not at ease being in the presence of the servants, is very good for comic relief in an otherwise pretty intense episode.
Of course, Flavia questions Bruno about the other night, too, but he won't say a word.
Bruno wants to take the remedy to Bianca himself, but Flavia doesn't let him, which makes way for the very funny scene where she is the one to take the tea (or whatever it is) to Bianca.
Part 2
At first Bianca is not impressed with the remedy, but when she hears it is from Bruno, she is all smiles, like a pre-teen who just received a Valentine's Day card from her secret crush. Flavia knows she is not sick, she keeps pushing to find out the truth. When her mother leaves, Bianca remembers giving the remedy to Bruno a while ago. She manages to snap out of it and calls Eliana to invite her to come to dinner.
Eliana calls Bruno (who is boxing in his room, wearing that white sleeveless hoodie or whatever that is); she tells him about the invitation, Bruno is conflicted about Bianca's action, but I think I know what she is doing.
Later he goes to her room, knocks, but she won't let him in. He wants to know if she feels better, she says she is fine, but she is not dressed and without make-up, he can't see her like this. Of course she looks just fine, but she has been in a state of daze the whole day and she is not ready to face him yet. He agrees to leave, but they both remain stuck to the both sides of the door...and I have a feeling this will not be the last time this happens.
When Ariel arrives home Bianca is downstairs, feeling much better (I bet it was the remedy, hehe). He asks if she chose a piece for the auction, he wants to go together and choose one. Flavia is looking on, but so does Mademoiselle - she definitely saw something!
In the work shop, as Ariel is searching through his works, Bianca is almost having a seizure remembering the kiss. Then she tells Ariel that they need to push Bruno to marry as fast as possible, because he is so iresponsible he will postpone it indefinitely (so my hunch about Bianca was right - she wants Bruno to quickly get married, to keep him away from her). But Ariel points out that they can't make him get married faster, they can't meddle.
After another talk in the living room, where Flavia continues with her allusions to what happened the other night and how Bianca was cryng, they all go to eat.
Somehow B&B are left alone in the room. And what do you know, Bruno is not sorry about the kiss, he knows Bianca feels the same way. But Bianca has had the entire day to obsses over the kiss and now she is calm and cold, tells him to stop whatever he thinks he is doing.
During dinner they talk about a gala that is coming. Bruno won't be able to attend, he is visiting Eliana's parents in Orlando. He is all lovey dovey with Eliana, which Nina can't stand. There is talk about setting a wedding date and finally Bianca gets things her way: there will be an official engagement party in a week. Bruno doesn't want any of this, but Bianca manages to manouver the situation in a way that he can't say no. But he knows what Bianca's game is, he sarcastically winks at her as everybody raises their glasses to cheer for the engagement party.
So, as much as he feels bad about what he is doing to Ariel, Bruno has reached a point of no return; he is not denying anything, he wants to push for more things to happen. Bianca is fighting it tooth and nail, but I don't think she has much resistance left in her.
Beth, I read you follow the recaps, so this is for you: if you don't have the time to watch PP now, don't worry, you can watch later on, and this way you won't have to wait for every episode so much. So far, things moved very slow, only now we are getting some action, so watching the first 30+ episodes faster won't be a bad thing.
Thanks, AdrianaNoel, for the shout out. The B&B relationship is central to the story, and right now it's somewhat amusing with the sexual tension and marriage themes. But Ariel is so appealing, I think things are going to get very rough for this couple.
Beth
Great comments, Beth. Alejandro sure has a knack of screwing up everything he does. Ricardo was vacillating about signing that order giving Antonia control over Valentina's assets. But when Alejandro barged in, telling him not to sign it, to be impartial, Ricardo went postal, and signed it! Good going, Ale.
I learned two new words, albacea, which means executor or administrator (what Antonia is for Valentina), and tutela, which means guardianship (which Antonia has over Valentina's assets).
I think Lucho and Gaston decided not to tell Veronica about Alejandro and Pati. Despite their noble motives, if this comes out (that they didn't tell her), there could be trouble.
I was surprised that Antonia hired Max to be her chauffeur. Yes, she wants to keep her enemies close, but it really seems weird. It sure got Max in hot water with Alejandro (which will probably cause him to screw something ELSE up). But I liked how David couldn't do anything about it.
And was that other rich young guy Lucas, who had terrorized David years ago, but was stopped by Max? I think that's what they were saying. He also tried to molest Cecilia. What is it with these teenagers trying to kiss maids?
thanks again AdrianaNoel, for another wonderful recap,
you really have a knack for capturing the essence of the story!
btw, I'm terrible with names so what I usually do is refer to the wiki page,
which has a pretty good character list,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasión_Prohibida
if it's right, Paula is Nina's friend,
I think Santi calls her Pau...,
he is such a flirt, a mini Bruno,
Katia is such a strange character,
(love the actress,Liannet Borrego, from other novelas, and fascinated by her playing this part)
someone should take her out with the garbage,
and set her on the curb,
looks like Yair will be forever tormented,
(don't know if a Harley, leather jacket, and slicked back hair would help, it might...)
of course he can always marry Camila,
and Flavia, she sure has a nose for the devious,
and knows how to play that game,
for a woman with nothing, she lives very well,
Yes, the wink !!!
do you remember Bianca driving Bruno's fancy new car?
such a restless wild spirit she has, bubbling just under the surface,
no wonder Bianca is so scared and desperate.
AdrianaNoel - another much-appreciated recap... brava!
As everyone has mentioned, I too noticed Flavia in royal blue, and Nina's belt in same color. And last night, I loved Bianca's watch, also blue, which is definitely Bruno's color... ay que calor. I love the understated wardrobe on everyone in this show, esp Bianca's - I would wear everything she has/so my style; down to her shoes. All the ladies hemlines are simply classy; no one's dressed trashy or trendy.
I truly wonder what advice Flavia would give if Bianca would let her. She really should confide in someone, like her mother says, or it will eat her up.
I was beginning to think we wouldn't see the locket Bruno gave Bianca for christmas, and there it was last night. She looked like a lost little girl
Very amusing scene where Flavia gives oh-so-smitten Bruno the what-the-heck-you're-gonna-make-what for Bianca. I was pleasantly surprised she didn't take credit for it.
the only time I like seeing Bruno and Eliana together is when it irks Nina... ha ha. pobre Eliana - he's often dismissive of her.
good comments Hombre!
ah yes Alejandro, our well meaning mild mannered galan,
(and such a path of death and destruction he leaves in his wake),
perfect timing in pushing Ricardo past the brink,
and so totally clueless,
how does he do it?
such an odd story line, Max as chauffeur,
I don't know if I like this, but it does poke another hole into Antonia's world.
wow, that other Lucas guy sure looks like his younger version,
acts like him too,
does Antonia have a recruitment program in the high school looking for delinquents?
and so we have Alberto, is he working by himself, in his new empty bank office,
I don't think this is what he expected,
it's probably better than it looks since Prudencia thinks his status would make a good husband for Patti,
after momentarily getting past the shock that they were lovers,
did Veronica buy Gastón a new radio station?
how will this work,
he can't really go back to doing his broadcasts like before can he?
I'm loving how Veronica just kind of zooms unexpectedly into Antonia's world, drops a few bombs, and is on her way.
Thanks again, AdrianaNoel! Agree that part of Bianca's tortured state now is how she hates her mother for cheating on her father [leading to his death]. How painful for Bianca to be following in her footsteps, but she can't help herself.
Too funny how we always see Ariel curled up alone on his side of the bed!
Deb beat me to Nina's friend's name, but I can add that the magic remedy is tomato, limes, butter and .... a fourth thing. :-) In case anyone wants to whip it up at home. That was a fun scene.
Moto talk, I hope a metaphor and not foreshadowing of some accident.
Mlle, I had totally missed that she saw something.
Shallowgal, agree that wardrobes are great, classy with interesting twists.
Penelope seems nice/normal [except for that arson attempt]. Was there any hint early on what happened with her and Bruno? Assuming he just moved on?
Clara
Excellent comments deb, Hombre, and Beth.
The guy that David fought with is not a rich guy. They showed a flashback when the guy was confronting Max of the younger Max and this guy, who was the son of one of the miners who were harassing Gaby at work. The suggestion was that these kids who picked on David and that Max helped David confront were that way because of the way their fathers talked about los Suarez.
I got the impression that young guy is now one of the servants at El Dorado and is still carrying a grudge against Max.
I was kind of liking Prudencia for putting the horns on the despicable Julio, and challenging Antonio for the presidency of the club, but she sure was nasty speaking about Gabriela. So she's going down!
Yeah, what a fiasco with Alejandro pushing Ricardo into signing that guardianship document.
I hadn't thought about Antonia actually trying to kill Valentina, but I suppose that's plausible. I was thinking she'd go for a quickie wedding which would somehow give David some rights over the money.
Yep, Vero has bought Gastón a state-of-the-art radio station. I'm quite sure she plans to have him go right back to his inflamatory broadcasts about the crooks in SBDO, but this time with a couple of her ex-SEALS as bodyguards!
Thank you for your appreciation of my recaps. They are really fun to write, and they make me watch several scenes twice (like, when B&B are on screen, first I watch for my own pleasure and delight, then for taking a few notes...it's so worth it!)
Beth, I agree that the more they make Ariel sympathetic, the more we have to get ready for B&B to shed some painful tears down the line. (dreading the moment)
Deb, thank you for the name, I could have searched it on wiki, too, but I was to busy writing the recap. And YES, Santi is such a flirt, and because he is so young, all the ladies let him do his thing. I am telling you, if Eliana were to marry Bruno, I bet he would go after her in a few years. :) As for Bianca's true self, one can only act like the respectable lady of the manor for so long, when you have a fire burning inside, giving you intense looks from across the dinning room table (hehe)
Shallowgal, you made me ROTFLMAO with your "Flavia gives oh-so-smitten Bruno the what-the-heck-you're-gonna-make-look". The fact that he actually believed that Bianca was sick was funny enough, but to see Flavia's reaction was priceless. And when she gave Bianca the potion, she was all: "here is your medicine, Bianca, now can you two just cut the c*** and get a room?"
So far Flavia has been very devious and two-faced, but I guess that from now on we will get many more scenes like this.
If Bianca were to confide in her mother, I truly believe that Flavia would help her. Of course, she would try to take advantage, too, money wise, but I bet she would also cover for Bianca and stop with the indirect allusions.
Clara, we didn't actually see Mlle witness the kiss, but why else would she be downstairs..things like these never happen on TV just like that. And she did make a face when Bianca and Ariel went to the work shop the next day.
Penelope broke up with Bruno because he cheated on her. Bianca herself found him with another woman, that is why she couldn't stand him at the beginning. I believe they even filmed the scenes where Bianca catches Bruno in the act, I've seen them in the promos, but they weren't part of the first episode, when the break-up was addressed.
I find the scenes with Flavia just about unbearable. I keep wanting Bianca to throw her out of her room. And her snotty hints about the taller in front of everyone risk getting Bianca in hot water and cutting off the source of expensive necklaces. She just can't resist being a b!tch 24/7, can she?
I am liking Bianca for resisting her attraction to Bruno. It shows she has a moral center, unlike her despicable mother.
I don't think Flavia trying to get the truth out of Bianca has anything to do with helping her daughter. She just wants the gossip and possibly to be able to use it to get more jewelry.
I can fully understand your dislike of Flavia,
but, now that I am used to her,
something about her mischievous ways,
the sparkle in her eyes when she is hot on the trail to a juicy item,
her pure innocent looks, like when Ariel allows her to keep the necklace,
the way she takes and gives to her lover, only what she wants,
and her lofty ways with the help,
I'm actually enjoying watching the master at work,
and then there is the remote chance that...
well, she did head off Bruno for taking the miracle cure to Bianca's bedroom,
and we all know what kind of disaster that could have been...
does she feel for Bianca's turmoil?
and yes, why is she still living there?
the more Bianca tries to distance herself from her mother,
the closer they become,
AdrianaNoel - that whole 'concoction' scene and her facial expression was super funny to me. She made not 1, but 2 or 3 attempts to curb his enthusiasm. so glad he didn't let her.
Deb - I really liked Liannet Borrego as Milady in El Fantasma de Elena. she cracked me up clad in short short maid's uniform and heels.
Clara - I was trying to find online but couldn't, the first first scene, which was not aired with the first episode, where Bruno's on the balcony of a hotel naked, cuz Bianca locked him out after she found him with another woman, cheating on her sister. It's actually included in my cable's 'on demand' episodes.
novelera - I too love the fact that Bianca is fighting hard not to give in to Bruno. She hates her mother for taking on a lover, for being materialistic, etc, so we know she's got some moral values. she had no clue that someday she might be faced with this dilemma.
Novelera, just like you, I am sure Flavia would not help Bianca out of the goodness of her heart; in my opinion, if she knew the truth she would become an enabler, but one with strings attached: jewelery, money, confort, all these and more she would get out of Bianca in exchange of her precious "help"; but she would not rat Bianca out, I do believe she has affection for her daughter, but she is just so shallow other things are more important to her.
The fact that Bianca is fighting her attraction makes it more easy for me as a viewer to root for her and it also makes the story more tense; when she finally caves in you know it will mean something for her.
NovelaMaven Omar is younger than the twins. In the early caps dMart had a flasback as an 8 year old boy with his mom holding Omar (Who was an infant) Sonia told dMart to be a good older brother to Omar and he said he would.
NovelaMan, you are confusing me with NovelaMaven who hasn't commented on El Rostro this week. I am Novelera and posted the comment mistakenly thinking Omar was the elder child.
Thanks for clearing that up!
I'm afraid I have a darker view of Flavia than the rest of you. I think she's STILL jealous that Bianca landed Ariel. She hasn't forgiven her daughter for that. She wanted Ariel for herself.
She is LOVING the possibility of Bianca being unfaithful to her husband and sees Bianca's fall from grace as payback for Bianca's judging her for her affair with Ivan. To me this is why she's so persistent in finding out what's going on. Plus the fun blackmail stuff as an added benefit.
But she can't really sabotage her as much as she'd probably like to do because blowing up Bianca's marriage would force her out of the Piamonte mansion.
I was thinking that young Lucas is the son of one of the miners who was killed in the explosion that killed Fernando, and that Antonia probably gave him a job to keep him and his family allied with the mine and her family. I thought I remembered something about Lucas being at a funeral - or at the trial with his mother. And wasn't he the one Macario paid to torment David? I could be wrong.
Two things in the back of my mind:
So far as we've seen, Ricardo hasn't investigated the dungeon at the manicomio. Sooner or later Gabriela's writings on the wall have got to be exposed, and....
Constanza's document that Antonia took from AniMal - I'm thinking this is Antonia's insurance that he will not betray her.
I did love Irene's wide-eyed shock when Patty threw Ale into the discussion/?squabble over who Patty is sleeping with. And Prude's self-righteous disapproval of Patty having an affair with Alberto was truly comical. I can hardly wait till the girls find out about Lagarto.
Lucho cracks me up with his horn-dog pursuit of Julio's amante. Did I miss seeing the baby? We know Julio fathered a little boy, but I don't recall his being on screen
Beth
I like all your different takes on Flavia, which brings to mind the article on welovesoaps.net; that the characters are open to interpretation.
I think you're right, Beth. Lucas was, I think, the son of the evil miner that kept trying to grab Gaby's hindquarters in the mine. And that guy did die in the mine, unfortunately before he could tell the truth about finding El Tigre tortured. The boy was also a schoolmate of David and Max, and was one of the boys who tormented David about getting that laptop from Antonia and who chased him onto that high place from which Ale saved him. [What an unwieldy sentence!]
Good points about other shoes to drop being the writing in the dungeon and Constanza's document proving Aníbal to be a crook.
Novelera, I see Flavia just as you do, all the jealousy and the blackmail possibilities. But at the same time, I think she does love Bianca, she just loves herself more.
She has to take care of her golden goose, but at the same time, she can't help but meddle, gossip and create havoc in the house. What else is she supposed to do, drink coffees with Mlle all day long? LOL (as I saw that Mlle and Francisca did several times during the last episode, as everyone was coming and going around them).
Great stuff, these debates. And we are only on episode 37. I am dreading and looking forward for what comes next!
Hets confusing u know Novelera, NovelaMaven and me! (NovelaMan)
Flora talks with Vicente - they discuss what happened at the last exhibition of the Santa Helena. Flora says she was in shock; she empathizes with him over what happened.
Cande and Dixon talk in private about the plan to get revenge on Harvey for the statue and killing their dad.
Flora visits mom at the mansion. Flora says she’ll be fine. Meanwhile, Dixon sneaks down the street. Marcos calls his cousin Sofi to tell her he is following Flora. Sofia has to hang up on him - Vicente is at her bedroom door. He wants to enter and talk - Sofia is still angry with him and doesn’t want to see him or talk with him at all. She tells him to his face that Flora is a liar - Vicente is stunned - She tells her dad that he is being stupid and blind to the truth about Flora.
Vicente pays a visit to the mansion - Belen meets him outside and says Flora isn’t there. He wants to talk with her - asks her point blank, are you Flora’s real mom? Meanwhile, Marcos visits his cousin at home and tells her that Belen and Flora are really mother and daughter (can’t you tell the resemblance?) Sofia is stiff and sore trying to stand up from the sofa. Belen sits on the sofa with Vicente - she tells him that she’s worked for Flora’s family for so long that she is like a second mother to Flora. Vicente seems to believe it. Meanwhile, in the barrio home, Flora and Karen are talking; Flora reveals how hard it is becoming for her to continue to lie to Vicente.
At the Bazunte, Harvey and the gang meet with “White Hat”. The gang watches White Hat place a gun on the table. They listen as he threatens to kill each of them, one by one, if they don’t get him that Santa Helena statue ASAP. White Hat slams down on the table and the table crumbles. White Hat leaves. Gang seems visibly scared.
Flora and Karen work together on creating a video confession - to tell Vicente the truth. Meanwhile, Belen and Vicente continue to talk about Flora and his relationship. Belen says he is older, wiser and has been around the block before - for Flora, he is her first romance (first true love).
Karen starts to videotape Flora - Flora reveals her true feelings and the truth about why she first became friends with Sofia and got close to Vicente. She says it started out just as a job but now she really loves him.
Vicente and Belen continue their conversation. Belen thinks he needs to let Flora go; He can’t because he really loves her.
Dixon climbs up the side of the old historic fort in Cartagena. He collects some trash bags and brooms. A guard comes over and asks what he is doing. Dixon fakes deafness (sign language) and guard lets him go back to work. Dixon texts Cande and then laughs at the guard’s ignorance.
Silvia meets with Imanol to tell him that because of the disappearance of the Santa Helena, Imanol has been fired from his security position.
Belen comes back home and tells Karen and Flora about her conversation with Vicente. He was asking lots of questions and she did her best to cover. Flora is nervous and in a panic - she’s worried about Vicente discovering the truth - she decides to send him her video confession right now.
Harvey yells at gang in his office - WHERE THE HECK IS THAT STATUE? Meanwhile, in the batcave, Dixon is holding the Santa Helena with a cloth and smiling. In the office, Cande and Blatchko take turns coming up with scenarios and explanations. Harvey seems to believe it - for now.
Silvie visits Vicente in his home office. Silvia feels bad for what happened and says she spoke with Imanol. Vicente says it may seems drastic but when the statue went missing, they lost everything.
Cande and Dixon meet in secret in the cave. Cande is pleased with his brother’s success. Meanwhile, Mireya talks with Harvey in the upstairs office - Harvey declares they will get that statue, no matter what. Mireya thinks she has another way to get it; she asks Harvey to trust her.
Silvia needs to talk with Vicente. Vicente says if this is about what happened at the exhibition, it happened. Silvia stutters. Vicente realizes she wants to talk about him and Flora; he’s offended that she would ask him to break up with Flora. She is just concerned about Sofia. He understands she cares for his daughter, but that isn’t her concern at all. He tells her that they are co-workers only, and the only subjects they will discuss are work-related.
Karen and Flora continue with the confession video - now she starts to talk about her family - Cande, Dixon and her mom Belen. She starts to cry and swears that she isn’t a bad person; just has been under pressure and threats to her brother Cande and family from her godfather Harvey. He is the one who forced her to lie and trick and deceive Vicente and Sofia. Karen finishes with the video and Flora tells her that she will say good-bye to Vicente and give him the video then they will have to leave town.
Harvey talks with Blatchko and Cande in his office upstairs. He tells them his plans for the bar and the champeta dancing; and Cande mentions the Santa Helena. Harvey and Blatchko laugh about buying and selling it. Cande leaves quickly. Harvey and Blatchko have a private conversation. Harvey has some suspicions.
In the cave, Cande and Mireya talk in the bar - she thinks they should sell the statue and leave town now. Cande says he can’t leave now, he has to make plans and prepare his family. A man walks in - Cande leaves Mireya alone. Man is there to see Harvey. Mireya offers to help him.
In the upstairs office, Harvey reveals to Blatchko his suspicions about what happened to the Santa Helena. In the cave, Cande and Dixon talk in private before Cande makes a phone call. At the computer station, Agua Mala works on the video on the chip - he finally is able to see the image of Robinson - and sees that Mireya was there with him when he was shot. He can’t believe it.
Outside in the junkyard, Cande and Dixon use a knife and gun to corner the man. Cande threatens the man with his knife - demands to know why he wants to see Harvey. Man finally confesses his involvement in Cande’s beating at the prison - that Harvey ordered it. Cande and Dixon let the man go when Agua Mala appears. Agua Mala tells Cande what he saw on the video chip. Cande mutters that from now on, he will only trust his blood relations.
Marcos chases Karen to the old fort. Karen picks up a rock and yells at Marcos to stop following her - leave her alone. She throws the rock and escapes.
At the computer station, Agua Mala shows Cande the video. Agua Mala thinks about showing it to Harvey - Cande thinks that is a very bad idea - he tells Agua Mala that Harvey will never protect them, especially not Cande.
Flora and Belen are packing Flora’s bags. They cry about Flora having to leave town. Flora mentions she will see Harvey before she leaves. Belen is worried. Flora assures mom this is her only option.
Karen interrupts Harvey and Mireya’s meeting at the Bazurto office. She tells them about Vicente and that Marcos chased her around town. Harvey is frustrated and says he will take care of it. Downstairs in the cave, Cande and Agua Mala are admiring the Santa Helena. They discuss the meaning of the statue and then about Robinson’s death. Cande says Harvey will kill them all for it. Dixon enters as Agua Mala goes back to his computers. Cande talks with his brother about his plan for revenge on Harvey.
Agua Mala starts working some more on cleaning up the images in the video - he makes photo captures of the action.
At the beach hut, Blatchko pays a visit to Watusi and Celina. Blatchko wants to work on something with Watusi. Watusi says this house is Sabroso’s. Blatchko antagonizes Watusi and Watusi puts up his fists, ready to fight. Blatchko laughs.
Outside the mansion, Flora and Belen talk about Harvey’s possible hostile reaction; and the police; Belen doesn’t want Flora to end up in prison. Mati approaches and tells Flora to come to the house - something serious is happening.
Harvey and Mireya work on their own plan to get the statue. They start to kiss. Meanwhile, Agua Mala continues to work on the video chip.
Blatchko is tying up Celina and Watusi together inside the beach hut. Celina cries. Blatchko’s patience has worn out and yells for them to give him the papers or suffer the consequences.
Mireya and Harvey are kissing - Cande spies on them through the crack in the secret passageway door. He is really upset and hurt. Cande pulls out his gun and aims it through the door at Harvey.
Meanwhile, Blatchko has gone crazy - he yells at Watusi and Celina, kicks them so they fall on the ground and shuts the wooden door (with no lock). He takes a torch and sets it on fire.
ADVANCE for next week: Vicente proposes to Flora; Cande and Harvey in a junkyard standoff and Dixon is held hostage by Harvey.
The total control freak Antonia has the gall to say that club elections shouldn’t be permitted. When she says she built the club, Vero innocently [!] reads out loud the brochure that says her two deceased husbands were the ones who built it. Everyone appears to be on Pru’s side. After Antonia leaves, Pru gets over 700 votes and Antonia over 300. [But there only seemed to be 30 people there?]
Lucho puts Luz up to spilling the beans to Julio about Prudencia and Chacón. She’s all for it, thinking he’ll divorce Pru and make an honest woman of her.
Gastón does his first radio program, calling it Ondas de San Pedro. He promises to tell the truth about what’s going on in town.
Lagarto gets an anonymous note about Prudencia being his lover.
Julio Montemar also gets an anonymous note about Prudencia. He doesn’t believe it. Antonia shows up to call him a traitor. She’s completely over the top, saying she’ll finish off all the Montemars.
Macario tells Antonia the news about seeing Pru coming out of Chacón’s office with her hair messed up. She’s delighted and gives him money to go to the bordello and spread the word.
When Julio tries to get Pru to apologize publicly to Antonia, she basically tells him to pound sand.
Ale shows up to yell through a closed door that Ricardo is making a terrible mistake, taking out his anger at him on poor Valentina.
When Julio goes to Luz for some comfort, she tells him about Pru and Lagargo. He doesn’t believe it, correctly surmises she wants to be his legal wife, and yells at her.
Snotty little Lucas spies Valentina beckoning Max and tells Antonia they went to the stables. Cecilia runs like the wind and takes Val’s place with Max. Antonia chews the two of them out for holding hands in the stable. Gah!
Ale comes to talk to Patti, upset she’s left Ricardo. She tells him how much she loves him. Pru eavesdrops, but doesn’t seem that angry with Patti.
Aníbal, like his fellow horndog Lagarto, wants to see what’s under the burka. He puts his hand on Constanza’s arm, but Gastón arrives in time to tell him she’s off limits.
Cecilia disappoints the heck out of me by letting David put some moves on her.
Patti tells Alejandro she’s not going to mourn forever. She’s going to try to find love again. They embrace, saying good bye, but Vero is spying on them.
Julio catches Lagarto and Prudencia kissing in his office. He tried to get her to leave over and over, but too late!
Part 1
A few days pass and we are in the day of the engagement. Bruno and Eliana are arriving in Eliana's apartment with her parents. Everybody is happy, except Bruno, who is anything but.
At the mall, Ariel is looking for engagement presents for Bruno and Eliana. He wants to buy Bruno an expensive watch and Eliana earings. Bianca thinks some first class plane tickets would be enough, but Ariel wants the present to be special. Then, he shows Bianca a necklace that she likes, but the sales girl says it is already sold. Bianca is a little dissapointed, until Ariel tells her that he is the person who bought it and it is for her. Bianca is happy.
Flavia and Mademoiselle are talking about the gala that already took place and how Ariel and Bianca were the highlight of the night.
Nina and Paula are in Nina's room, talking about the dresses they are going to wear at the engagement. Paula wants them both to be sexy, to make Bruno jealous (ha, like he would care). But Nina knows that Bruno would never look at someone as young as them as at a real woman. Maybe tonight you have your first kiss with Sebas, Paula suggests.
In the kitchen, everybody is busy. Yair looks awful, Don Salo gives him some very good advice: maybe it is time you spread your wings, don't let your refuge become your cage.
Ariel and Bianca go to the cemetery. At her father's grave, she thanks him for helping her when she needed it (I assume after Bruno kissed her).
Bruno arrives home, Santi wants to play football (the real kind, not the one americans call football - seriously!); but no matter how much he begs, Bruno is just to miserable. He goes to his room, and once again, takes his perfume while looking at Santi playing alone by the pool.
Nuria is gardening; Guillermo comes early from work, he wants to help; she hasn't forgiven him, it will take time, but he is willing to wait, she is the most important thing for him - he looks genuine, I wonder what would he do if Bruno left Eliana.
Mademoiselle is in Bruno's room, she asks him to come down, everybody is arriving at the party. They start to talk and Bruno wants to know if Mlle still feels the same way about Ariel. Yes, she does, she can't help it, not even him being married managed to change the way she feels; but she is resigned, Ariel loves Bianca and she will never do anything to come between them. Then it's Bruno's turn to confess, but Mll already knows that he doesn't love Eliana; he is sure that in time he will, but Mlle thinks he is not being fair to Eliana. Bruno insists that it is time for him to settle down (and we know why, I have a feeling Mlle knows, too).
The party in on its way downstairs. Ariel is with Eliana's parents. Nina still looks like a little girl, she is wearing pink stockings, for God's sake! She is showing Sebas the kitchen, introducing all the servants, including poor Yair, who wants to die, from the looks of it.
Part 2
Bruno and Eliana are taking their engagement photos. Bianca does her best not to look at them.
A while later, I think Bruno has a panic attack, because the room starts spinning around him; he sees Bianca at the mirror (she doesn't look better, either), but leaves the house. Once outside, he rememberes how Mlle told him not to hurt Eliana.
When Nina and Sebas go to the work shop to show Sebas Ariel's art, Bruno is already there; he warns Sebas to be careful with what he does with his cousin and after that they all leave.
Back at the house, Bianca is looking for Bruno through the crowd. Ariel comes, he needs Bruno, too, it's time for the toasts. Bianca offers to go bring a shawl for her mother and she will search for Bruno, too. Ariel smiles as Flavia carefully looks at him, to see if he senses anything. But of course he doesn't.
Bianca finds Bruno with Nina and Sebas in the hallway. Somehow B&B are left alone again, but the party is only a step away, nothing can happen, right? Wrong!
Bruno wants to know what they're doing? He is getting engaged but he doesn't know what to do with what he feels. Bianca tells him what he feels is wrong, just an illusion, something that isn't real. Bruno looks very hurt by her words, but doesn't give up. He asks her to look at him and tell him that she doesn't feel the same way. "Dimelo!" he isists, but Bianca is not giving up, either. As their song starts, Bruno tells Bianca that one word from her and he will cancel the engagement, the wedding, everything.
They are standing just outside Flavia's room, anyone could see them, but they are not caught. Bianca manages to get away, she goes to her mother's room, but she is a mess; she remembers how Bruno said he would leave Eliana if she asked him to. But when she runs outside to talk to him, he is no longer waiting for her.
He is with Eliana, listening to Ariel's toast. They receive their presents and that is when Ariel sees that Nina is not well at all.
He tries to talk to her later when she is crying in her room, but Nina says she was only touched by the beautiful moment and by the many changes that have happened in the house. But then Mlle finally tells Ariel that Nina is in love with Bruno. Ariel is shoked, but this is something he has to deal with.
Downstairs, Bianca is looking at Eliana while she is spoon feeding Bruno; she remembers how Bruno said he will give up the engagement for her again. Flavia urges her to behave.
Later, when Sebas is leaving, he wants to kiss Nina, but she won't let him. Yair appears and punches Sebas.
Oh boy, these bits and pieces of Bruno and Bianca dancing around one another are fine, but I definitely need more. Enough already!
I just found out what Bruno was playing at the piano the other day, before the KISS; it's Nocturne 20, by Frederic Chopin. I kept searching for it and then, finally I found the name on the episode this scene happens in the turkish version. It truly is a beautiful piece.
thanks so much novelera !!!
it seems like a multi-pronged attack on Prudencia, but is it Veronica that sent all of the anonymous notes, and with Antonia involved, maybe she will be blamed for it all.
amazing that Julio just can not believe that his wife could be unfaithful, and when told by Luz, accuses her of sending the note, just not her day,
interesting that Lagarto realizes it's a trap when Prudencia shows up in response to his note, which he didn't send, but they can't resist a passionate kiss, ha!, someone has timed this all perfectly as Julio now shows up, and says he will kill them both.
Irene, who is distancing herself from her family to stay in favor with Antonia, may just find herself on the curb someday, alone.
Once again our mild mannered galan, Alejandro, is hot on the trail of undoing Antonia's evil, protecting Valentina's inheritance, so how will he be distracted this time?
(and does Vero's jealous look at Alejandro and Patti, show a rage greater that all of her others put together?)
Emilio and Valentina are walking into the playground, eating ice cream cones. He asks if she would like the idea of him getting married and having more kids. She likes the idea. He loves her so, so much.
It’s the finals of the company bowling tourney - finance dept. vs. the secretaries. Finance dept. give Conde a pep talk before he bowls.
Toni parks her BMW near a park. She and Paula start walking on the sidewalk, Toni is determined to divorce Felix and be with Emilio. Toni gets a call - it’s about Felix’s accident - Toni panics as they go back to the car.
The secretaries give Olga a pep talk - Olga faints as she releases her bowling ball. The ball slowly rolls down the lane and.... IT’S A STRIKE! Secretaries celebrate.
Toni tells Paula she feels guilty for kicking Felix out of the house. Paula assures her this accident isn’t her fault. In the car, on the way to the hospital, Paula calls Mario to tell him about Felix’s accident - Mario will take a taxi and meet them at the hospital. Toni then calls Emilio (who is back at home) and tells him about the accident. Emilio gives Lorena and Frank a brief note about the accident on his way out the door.
At the bowling alley, Castillo presents medals to the Finance department. Then he presents the secretaries with their trophy (apparently, the secretaries won last year.) Delfina is still upset with the accountants for kidnapping her and holding her hostage so she couldn’t compete with her team.
Felix is in a hospital bed - Nurse is caring for him and putting a brace around his neck. Felix’s buddy talks to him about the next phase of the plan - Felix asks him to leave now; Buddy reminds him that he will be expecting payment for his part in the plan/remain silent. (Copito is there in her own little bed.)
Paula tells Toni what she discovered about the accident (very little details). Doctor comes out and tells Toni and Paula about Felix’s surgery and he will recover. Mario runs through the hospital halls, looking and asking for his brother. Toni and Paula call out to him. He is so worried and in a panic about his brother. Toni and Paula have to work hard to calm him down. Toni even slaps him to shut him up (for a minute or two).
Conde, Aguirre and Pato are still at the bowling alley - holding the toilet paper roll packs in their arms. They vow next year, they will find a way to beat the secretaries and win.
Emilio arrives at the hospital and finds Toni and Paula in the waiting room. Mario is still running around in a panic. Emilio tells Mario to calm down. Toni and Paula also tell him to calm down, this is a hospital. Mario is still nervous and worried about his brother. Paula takes Mario away; Emilio tells Toni to ignore Mario and asks about the accident. Toni doesn’t know any details (where, when or how it happened). Emilio asks to get something for her to eat or drink.
In a quiet hallway, Paula talks with Mario. Mario is upset with Felix’s accident and for Emilio (Encanto) to show up. Paula tells Mario she has information to make both of them happy. Mario is curious.
Frank and Lorena arrive at the hospital. Lorena sits with Toni as Emilio and Frank walk away and talk in private (what to do about the secret of Felix and Paula). As they talk, Emilio sees Olga flying through the hallways towards them. They join the ladies, as Olga starts to talk with Toni.
Later, Frank flirts in private with Olga. Emilio sits with Lorena and Toni; he offers to get them something to eat or drink; Lorena says no thanks, but Toni says thank you, I’d like something to eat/drink. Emilio leaves them and asks Olga to go with him to the cafeteria. On the way, Emilio mentions knowing the secret gossip (about Felix and Paula) Olga shared with Frank. Olga is upset that Frank broke his pinky promise to her. They discuss keeping the secret from the office gossips. Olga stuns Emilio when she says Yensy knows.
Thanks, Jody, for the excellent recap of another shocking episode. Here are a few additions.
At the start, the Shadow (that's what they all call White Hat, he's the big boss) dragged in a body bag, which he opens. It's Max, dead! The Shadow says if you had gotten me the Santa Helena, he would have lived, but you didn't. Each week from now on, I'm going to kill one more of your crew! So they know they have to act fast.
Harvey later tells Blatcho, if we don't get the Santa Helena in two days, I'm leaving town forever. You can have the Basurto. You'll be the new owner. BTW, Watusi owes me $10,000.00. I told him if he didn't pay, he'd have to turn over the deed to his uncle Sabroso's house. So after I leave, you can collect.
But Blatcho doesn't wait. He goes to Watusi and tells him turn over the deed to Sabroso's house, now! Watusi says you're nuts, how are you going to force me? That's when Blatcho ties up Watu and Celina and sets their hut on fire. Fortunately, Champion saw this, so hopefully they'll be saved.
I'm worried for Marcos, since Karen told Harvey that Marcos was close to discovering Flora's secret, and Harvey said he'd take care of it.
I think Silvie told Vicente now that the Santa Helena's gone, you should go back to Spain. He of course knows she's just trying to separate him from Flora. Imanol asks Vicente if the two of them can work together outside the bank to get back the Santa Helena, but we don't see Vicente's answer.
That guy who visited Harvey is the mysterious guy who is working with Vicente! He lied about that prison thing to get Cande and crew to let him go.
Agua Mala didn't just see that Mireya was there and kicked Robinson. She SHOT HIM and KILLED HIM! But Cande is so in love with Mireya, he tells Agua Mala, you can have ALL the money from the Santa Helena, if you ERASE Mireya from that disk. And Agua Mala does erase her from it (but he may have kept a copy before doing that).
So only Cande, Dixon, Mireya and Agua Mala know that Cande has the Santa Helena stashed in a locker in the bus station. Cande tells Dixon he was lying to Agua Mala, he's really not going to give him all the money. Then, Cande sees Mireya kissing Harvey, and is destroyed! He thought she loved him. Guess not.
No show tonight. I finally have a theory about Mireya, and I'll post my idea tomorrow.
Great comments, Novelera and Deb. I don't think it really matters who sent the notes. Prudencia is in deep doo doo now. But if Julio gets on his high horse, it won't be long before his affair and fathering a kid will come out to knock him right OFF that horse! Yes, it's fun to see that secrets leak out.
Veronica was not happy with Lucho for hiding who Alejandro's amante was. She knew he was lying. He said find out yourself, and she did! He points out she's jealous, and we know it's true.
Antonia keeps threatening her old allies. She's already threatened Macario (but he's now back in her fold), Prudencia, Julio, Alberto and Anibal. Gaby predicted that one day, Antonia would be all alone. We're getting closer and closer to that day!
Deb, I think Irene is gonna end up like Julia when shs is no longer convenient to Antonia. I'm still upset that she cosigned ths 'Julia se suicidio' lie when it wasn't certain just so she could get Guerra's support to be with Ale. How could she betray her sister like that? I guess Ale messing around with Patti was tbe writers' way to pay herback for that.
Cecilia and David are a fracaso if I've never seen one. He doesn't love her and she's gonna get knocked up and Guerra is going to be rabid about it since it's gonna stop Val from liki.g David and Cecilia is definitely going to tell Val it's David's baby. And Alejandro is goig to have to sort it out and make a big mess of it as he always does.
Thanks so much, AdrianaNoel. Excellent recap.
I just can't believe Bruno's behavior when Sebastian and Nina entered the taller. And don't get me started on Nina's behavior when Sebas attempted a kiss. And then Yair punched him. It's probably true that Sebastian is a fortune hunter, but there isn't any evidence of that to this point. He appears to be a handsome, polite young man. What would be so terrible if he kissed Nina? Yair's motives are jealousy. But Bruno?
And it strains belief that Ariel would be so clueless about Nina's feelings for Bruno. And then behave as if it were incest when Mme. tells him what's going on.
AdrianaNoel - thanks for another awesome recap. I look forward to it everyday, as my work takes a back seat most mornings. lol!
For now, all I have to say is.... Jencarlos's portrayal of Bruno (in all aspects, has totally reeled me in.
novelera - I think Bruno will always act as the protective cousin, esp since he's a typical "guy". Unfortunately, Nina will misconstrue this as something else, to her detriment.
AdrianaNoel and shallowgal, thanks for Penelope/Bruno fill-in, clarification re Mlle, and Chopin research. Not surprised that Bruno was caught cheating, but that Bianca discovered him! More fuel to the smoldering fire.
Flavia, sidetracked watching her because the actress [Rebecca Jones] played such a different type of character in Para Volver A Amar.
Maybe Flavia can burn off some excess energy sitting around the house by watching a few TNs instead of stirrin up trouble.
So, does Bianca cave soon and the rest of the TN is the aftermath, or does she continue to resist and tension continues to build?
La Patrona
Novelera, just so you know, following PP has led me into La Patrona. Reading your recaps and all comments trying to catch up. Lots of characters tho. And the burkas don't help.
Clara
Clara, we see only two characters under burkas, and this is to protect their identities.
One large burka clad person is Lucho Vampa. This is the thief and con man who got busted by Julio Montemar, the mayor. He pretended to be nuts by eating cockroaches. This got him sent to the local nuthouse, where he met Gabriela Suarez and became her ally.
The other person under a burka is Constanza. She was married to the rotten senator, Aníbal Villegas, who ripped off her money inherited from her parents and had her locked up in the nuthouse many years ago. She also became Gabriela's ally and inherited a fortune from an uncle. When she, Lucho, and Gaby escaped from the nuthouse, they first used some of Gaby's deceased father's gold to get to NYC. After Constanza claimed her inheritance in NYC, they have used this big inheritance to remodel the huge hacienda La Fortaleza and mount a revenge campaign against their enemies.
Thanks to Jody for the excellent detailed recap and to Hombre for the additions.
"I'm worried about Marcos" Really? After Harvey and Toad Face, he may be my least favorite character in the show. Hmm. It might be a toss-up between him and Silvia. :)
Not that I really care but --
When Sofía returned from France, she told Marcos she was bummed out because she discovered that the professor she was having an affair with was married. So:
a) Her indignant reaction to her widowed father's relationship with her unmarried friend is a little hypocritical, if emotionally understandable.
b) Her mysterious malaise -- shown last night but also in a previous episode -- may be a good old TN embarazo.
I had the impression that Vicente did agree to join forces with Imanol again. [I told you -- that Silvia is a piece of work!]
I'm also hopeful that Watusi and Celina will escape from the odious Blancho (Toad Face). We saw Blancho light the torch but not set the house on fire. And I bet the little kid who saw it all is going to save their lives somehow. Or at least I like to think so ...
Also --
The nondescript guy in the white shirt who came looking for Harvey at Bazurto -- he was Pérez, the corrupt prison guard. He was there to collect what Harvey owed him for orchestrating all of the misery Cande experienced in prison.
That Cande let him go alive and relatively unscathed speaks well of Cande. More and more, I see him being set up as a martyred hero before this is done.
Shallow gals you are not alone. i love JLP ever since i saw him in Secreto de Amor. Everyone watching that one wanted him to end up with the girl but he didn't . As a matter of fact i don't think I've ever seen him walk off into the sunset with the leading lady. The writers must be crazy. In any event since this is Telemundo he might end up without G/V or Pati who I do not like.
I love the mysterious letters which are floating around town, disrupting lives and casting all kinds of suspicion on who sent them. It adds a nice touch of suspense.
I really don't like David. He is full of himself, no doubt because of Antonia. At this point he isn't serving much of a purpose other than to be annoying. How old is he supposed to be 18? He acts more like a 15 year old.
Thanks, NovelaMaven, for clearing up a few more things (such as Perez). You're right, Sofi could be pregnant. I guess the father would be Pablo, whom we haven't seen recently.
wow, so true Decie Girl,
Jorge Luis Pila, the galan that never gets the girl,
¿Dónde Está Elisa?- a married Dana walks away,,, he motors off on his Harley, alone.
Aurora- a conflicted Aurora dies, but his mourning is shared by Angela who has Aurora's transplanted heart, (would this count?)
Corazon Valiente- was getting all of the girls but sacrificed his life to protect his daughters.
how will he do in La Patrona?
Jorge Luis Pila, the galan that never gets the girl, continued...
(almost forgot)
La Casa de al Lado- a mysterious guy, who falls for the rebellious Rebecca, shot dead...
Thanks so much Novelera. Great summary of last evening's events.
As much as I dislike Prude, I'm feeling sorry for the tidal wave that's heading her way. She's such a snob about social class that being the brunt of nasty town gossip and losing her standing in the community will devastate her. And I thought she looked more sad, almost teary, when she was eavesdropping on Patty and Ale's conversation, more like a mother who was hurting for her child's pain.
Did Ricardo look a bit regretful that he'd given custody of Valentina and her millions to Antonia? He certainly had a thoughtful expression on his face when he was listening to Ale's yelling outside the office.
Right now I'm loving Max's part in helping Vero, but as we all know with TNs this situation could blow up any moment.
Great comment, J desde NYC, the writers put little Cecilia on the hacienda for a reason, and you may be exactly right about a pregnancy.
Beth
NovelaMan, does this mean you will be watching the episode later?
If you missed it entirely and would like a brief summary, I could do one.
But I don't want to post a spoiler if you still plan to watch.
Novelera, I find everybody's behavior when it comes to Nina dating so annoying. They are acting like she is 12, not 18. And don't get me started on Nina's reaction to Sebas wanting to kiss her. What normal 18 years old girl doesn't want a cute guy to kiss her?
The fact that Ariel is so shocked when he finds out about Nina's feelings for Bruno just lets me know that a) he is clueless when it comes to women and b) if Bianca decides to cheat on him, even Santi will realize it before he does.
Clara, before PP I only knew Rebecca Jones by reputation, so this is a fresh perspective for me; most days I enjoy Flavia, but today she was very annoying. Bianca really needs to put a stop to her mother's reign of snooping around if she wants to have a quiet life.
I hope that something more happens soon between B&B because I am losing my patience. But I have the feeling the slow burn is not yet over because the writers are trying to tell us that when they actually hook up for real, it will be meaningful, not some cheap affair.
Shallowgal, JC Canela is the main reason I watch, too. And not because of how hot he is (he was hot in his other TN's, too) but because he plays the yearning and the torment to perfection. And Monica Spear is not bad either, the only problem is that Bianca is still fighting this, still cold and stiff most of the times.
JLP not getting the girl... this is funny, girls!
He wasn't the lead in Mas Sabe el Diablo (my first sighting of him), but ended up with Manuela's sister.
Thank you Hombre and NovelaMaven for filling in all the blanks. The action in that episode flew by so fast I could barely keep up.
