Amor Bravío #158 (Uni 153) Mon 4/1/13

Capitulo 158:   Fortress, Fraud, Fear, and Fight

Lo del pasado

Luzma faints at the news that her perverted uncle is possibly on the property.  Camila sends Rodolfo to mobilize the men with orders to shoot if necessary.  Natalia goes to talk to Aaron.  Leoncerdo realizes he is at serious risk of being caught by the trusty vaqueros at La Malquerido and decides to hightail it to La Buenaventura.

Lo de nuevo

La Malquerida, Parlour:  Luzma is distraught. Camila gives her a pill and some water. Pablo suggests she go upstairs to her room. The others talk about the police being out looking for El Perver-tio. Dorotea goes to the kitchen to prepare tea as Pablo and Piedad escort Luzma upstairs. Camila, Osvaldo, and Mariano talk about the Great Escape and its possible motive. Mariano speculates that the motive was revenge on those whose testimony put him in the carcel. That means not only Luzma, Piedad, and Pablo but Daniel. Mariano remembers that Leoncerdo accused Hissadora of cutting out his tongue, so he takes out his cell phone to call home. As he calls Iagho, Osvaldo asks Camila what El Diablo came for.

Phone Call Mariano/Iagho:   Mariano advises Iagho that Leoncerdo has escaped and may be gunning for Hissadora. Iagho is surprised he is concerned, but Mariano tells him that Leoncerdo might hurt anyone who gets in his way. He is to get the ranch hands on Red Alert. When he ends the call we don't know whether Iagho obeyed him or not.

Luzma's Room (upstairs, not below stairs):  Luzma goes on about how unfair it is that she is never getting any peace. Nor is Pablo. She tells him to leave, to leave the country for his own protection. He refuses, insisting he will remain there to protect her. A few passes back and forth on this before Pablo tells her that if he leaves she should leave with him. Piedad seconds this idea. Luzma refuses again, saying she refuses to put Pablo in further danger from Perver-tio. She goes on ad nauseum, I regret to say again about how she continues to maintain she hasn't stopped loving him but can't make him happy. Operatic strains in the string section as Luzma orders him out of the room and leave her alone with her mother. He departs reluctantly, closing the door behind him. Luzma starts crying on her mother's shoulder as Pablo tries to catch his breath outside the room before going back downstairs to Camila.

Miriam's House, Bedroom:   She is fast asleep while Daniel lies awake next to her. The bed looks too small [another reason he can't sleep]. His cell phone lies on the night stand. He picks it up on the first ring and goes into the bathroom, carefully closing the door. We don't hear Osvaldo's voice, but we know what he is telling him. Daniel asks about the meeting with El Diablo and obviously Osvaldo tells him exactly what happened. Daniel says “I knew it. I knew it! We can't permit this to happen.”

Next Morning

La Buenaventura, Dining Room:   Over breakfast, Mariano explains about Leoncerdo's escape. He knows that the speechless slimeball is after Hissadora and has taken precautions. Iagho tells him that their vaqueros will be guarding the place day and night, mentioning that their dad was asleep when Mariano called but he was sure he wouldn't disagree with this decision. Hissadora dismisses their concern, saying that it's more likely that Leoncerdo is far far away rather than risking getting caught. Mariano concedes this may be the case, but advises precautions, such as not going out alone. He asks Cayetano if he agrees, but Cayetano is out of it once again. Mariano catches that something is amiss but Cayetano says he feels better than he did a few days ago and he's just a little tired. Hissadora then says that's why they're seeing a doctor right after breakfast. His fatigue is likely due to age, but it's just to make sure. Mariano is surprised at this suggestion and Hissadora counters that it shouldn't be; she wants to be sure he will be with her for many years [not]. She tells him to finish his tea so they can go, Mariano says he will go with them, but Hissadora tells him it's not necessary. Why should he lose a day's work when they can get the chauffeur to drive them? Mariano says it will make him feel better to do this, but Hissadora gets the befuddled Don Cayetano to tell Mariano he doesn't want him to. He does so, but looks as though he will fall asleep any moment. He finally gets up and almost stumbles before Hissadora gets up to escort him out of the room, telling the boys not to worry she will keep them informed.

After they exit the dining room, Iagho asks Mariano what he was going on about. Mariano looks behind carefully, then tells Iagho he has something to tell him about Hissadora, their father, and El Diablo, but he wants them to go into the study for this conversation. Iagho at least looks as though he is taking this seriously.

La Malquerida, Courtyard:   Camila is with the three brave vaqueros, who are dressed in sombreros and serapes, like in a 70s western. Hipolito is willing to take all night guard duty to protect Piedad and Luzma. Eleuterio tells him they should take shifts, Rodolfo agrees, and Camila tells them that that is what they will do. There will be men guarding the gates and all the entrances to the hacienda. The three guys go off to their posts.

La Buenaventura, Study:   Mariano and Iagho enter, with Mariano telling his brother to close the door. It's too bad he doesn't also tell him they need to speak sotto voce because the Black Widow is just outside the door. He tells Iagho to watch out for El Diablo. Natalia is a good girl, but her father is very dangerous. Be courteous to him but don't hang with him and don't socialize with him much. Iagho asks why and Mariano explains what El Diablo demanded of Camila. Iagho initially looks amused, but is in fact incredulous. Mariano emphasizes that if Camila doesn't accede to both obscene demands there is no deal. If Camila doesn't surrender both the ranch and her body, Doña Augustina stays in prison for the rest of her life. Our premiere Viuda Negra clearly does not like hearing this. She thinks to herself “Dionicio, you are a wretch. You are exposing La Malquerida only because of your damned obsession with Camila. If she doesn't cave, we lose the ranch over your obstinacy and your cerla. [???]  This isn't going to stay this way or there will be no deal. You blew it and will have to pay the consequences.” The attractive chauffeur arrives to tell her it's time to leave. She motions for him to lower his voice and they exit.

Inside, Iagho asks whether Camila agreed to this. Mariano tells him no, not unless other measures are ineffective. He doesn't know the details, but tells Iagho to be extremely careful around El Diablo. Iagho nods, looking as though he will take Mariano's advice. [However, we can't quite be sure about this. yet]

La Malquerida, Parlour:   Piedad is on the phone which she hands to the arriving Camila, telling her it is Sherlock Juarez. No news yet about El Perver-tio, but bad news regarding Augustina; her sentencing will be next week. Camila asks whether unmasking El Diablo will help. He tells her that it will depend on what evidence they can provide. Teresa is looking to expedite the case. Camila tells him that she will talk to Teresa and she hopes to have the appropriate evidence by Saturday. She still looks concerned as she ends the call, telling Piedad that it was only bad news.

La Buenaventura, Study:   Iagho looks a little embarrassed as he explains he knows that El Diablo is dangerous. Mariano emphasizes that Iagho must keep his distance because El Diablo is as dangerous as Hissadora. Iagho then asks about “What about Hissadora and my dad?” Mariano explains he didn't like what he saw at breakfast, which was why he insisted on going along to the doctor's office. Iagho still doesn't get it until Mariano explains that all indications are that Hissadora is the devil's mistress. Therefore, he suspects that Hissadora is drugging their dad to get and keep him under her thumb. “From her we have to expect the worst.” Iagho becomes angry “Why didn't you tell Dad?” “I've tried, but he won't listen. We have to have proof. We should have it by Saturday, your wedding day.” He goes on to say they can't let him drink tea prepared by Hissadora [didn't understand the rest, but it wasn't anything about cocktails or booze. These two obviously never saw I, Claudius].

Adoption Agency Office:   Viviana and Rafael wait for the social worker and talk about Camila's situation and their frustration at being unable to help. The social worker enters with good news. Nobody was appointed as official guardian for Roman and he is available for adoption.

Phone Call; Daniel in Miriam's House / Luzma in her room:   Daniel tells Luzma he feels frustrated at being unable to handle the situation with El Diablo's obscene demand. Luzma tells him to be calm because Camila has no intention of agreeing to this. Friday they will have what they need so the Saturday deadline for Camila's decision or action will be meaningless. That doesn't help Daniel, who can't sleep over any of this. Luzma has the same problem knowing that Leoncerdo could be very near. Daniel is upset he can't be there for her but she has the police and the whole staff at La Malquerida to protect her. She realizes this but knows that Leoncerdo is likely to be seeking revenge and looking to hurt her more than he already has. Under no circumstances does she want to live that. [Anvil alert]

Adoption Agency Office:   The social worker takes out paperwork for the process. She asks how long they have been married. Viviana looks concerned as the music goes down a sinister path, but the social worker tells them that it is not necessary for them to be married. However, they will have to undergo the same process of investigation to clear them as adoptive parents for Roman. [I will spare the details on this, but it looks like their prospects are good.]

La Malquerida, Kitchen:   Pablo asks his suegra how Luzma spent the night. Of course, badly; she's scared witless about Leoncerdo still being at large. Pablo almost begs to take Luzma's breakfast tray to her but both Piedad and Hipolito tell him he shouldn't. Luzma doesn't want to see him and it would be best to respect this for now. He concedes to his elders and exits. Piedad is still frustrated at the situation; Hipolito tells her that he will do what he has to to insure Luzma's future and that Leoncerdo goes back to prison forever. “But how long will that take?” asks Piedad, rhetorically. Hipolito pledges his life [anvil alert] that for everything Leoncerdo did to Luzma he will see that he goes back to prison or to otro mundo, but he will not remain free. Piedad's anxiety is obvious over this statement.

Luzma's Room:   Camila comes in to talk to her. She knows Luzma doesn't feel any better. She talks to her about not locking herself up. She can't be paralyzed by her fear, but to use it as a motor; she has to prepare for it. Imagine what she would do if she encountered Leoncerdo. Luzma hyperventilates for a second, then begins crying. They embrace.

Hospital, Doctor's Office:   Not sure whether this is a different hospital, but at least a new doctor is examining Miriam. He says a few things that sound positive and sends her and the nurse to the lab for a blood draw. This leaves Daniel alone with him in the office. Daniel expresses his concern and the doctor explains that the other doctor's medical records aren't archived.  [He seems to say that the diagnosis and the treatment don't match.]  This concerns him because if Miriam is as sick as Daniel had been told, she can't travel back to Chile. She would have to have absolute rest. Daniel tells him about how he was told that any bad news or shock could explode the aneurism. The doctor tells him he will contact the other doctor and review the reports. Daniel writes down his cell phone number.

Hostal, Breakfast Room: Osvaldo and Amanda talk about how Natalia reacted to the situation. Amanda thinks that her relationship with Natalia has improved and tells him that they talked about the future... including hers with Osvaldo. She accepts Osvaldo's proposal, which makes him very happy. They will attend Natalia's wedding as an engaged couple who will soon be married. Both smile and Amanda looks radiant.

Restaurant:   Natalia and Iagho look like they are finishing a meal; she is not taking her eyes off him as he eats what looks like dessert. He asks why she is staring and she comments on noticing he is very different from his brothers. He says “Thank God because they are boring. Conformists. I am very different.” Natalia says “Yes, that is very clear,” and he obviously doesn't catch the expression on her face as he raids her plate with his spoon.

Her eye falls on the illustrated menu, which is open to the dessert section. He calls the waitress over and orders the cake Nat is looking at for her, trying to play the Good Fiancé. She pretends to be flattered, but she is no longer fooled by him.

Metepec, Lawyer's Office:   Cayetano is confused that they are not in the doctor's office; Hissadora tells him the doctor had an emergency and couldn't see them today, but not to worry. Licendiado Medina enters with a file folder, greets them and shakes hands with both. He sits down, saying he received Hissadora's e-mail. He asks Cayetano if he is in agreement with the terms and conditions of his will. He looks confused as he first looks at Hissadora and says “Si.” Hissadora takes the documents and asks him if he would like her to read it. Medina says he needs to be sure that Cayetano is in full control of his mental faculties and Hissadora goes on about him just being tired because he didn't sleep well the night before. He agrees, then says “Let's do what we have to do and go.” Drooling over what she thinks she will get out of this, she accepts the pen from the lawyer. Apologising for Cayetano's impatience because he is tired, she hands him the pen and he signs his own death warrant as the music goes into the staccato czardas scene-ender. He puts down the pen, Medina takes the documents to be notarized as Hissadora gloats and kisses Cayetano for what she must hope is the last time. [Anna Wintour must be proud at how appropriately she is dressed for this predatory occasion.]

La Malquerida, Study:   Mayelin and Pablo talk about Luzma trying to get him to leave the country. She agrees he should not leave the country but tries to persuade him that his relationship with Luzma isn't working. He explains that the previous night's rejection hurt but he knows that Luzma loves him whether she [Mayelin?] likes it or not. She goes on about how this is making a fool of him, but he isn't accepting this. Mayelin goes on about how when he's far away and Leoncerdo is dealt with Luzma will have the peace she wants. It almost looks as though Pablo will finally break from this assault.

Courtyard:    Mariano pulls up and is greeted by Rodolfo. He makes note of the alerted situation and tells him that La Buenaventura is taking the same measures. He then tells him he's come to see Camila. Rodolfo explains that she is visiting her mother in the reclusorio. Hipolito drove her there. Mariano is confused/upset that Camila didn't call him for that. Rodolfo says “You know how she is, very independent.” When Daniel's name comes into this, Mariano is not pleased. However, he calms down, tells Rodolfo to tell Camila he came over, then leaves. Rodolfo ponders the situation.

Miriam's House:    Miriam comes and Daniel return; she is holding up her arm. Caridad has the baby on her lap and gets up as Miriam tells her there is nothing to worry about. Daniel tells Miriam he has to see Rafael about something and asks if she would like to go with him. She tells him – with obvious indifference – that she is going to see Ana and her grandmother to bring cookies and say her farewells. Daniel offers to drive her but she tells him she will take a cab.  You do your thing and I will do mine.” He is surprised, but she tells him not to worry; they will talk later. He kisses her on the cheek, but she turns away. He waves to the baby and exits.

La Buenaventura, Entrance:   Hissadora and the chauffeur support Cayetano, who says he's just a bit tired. Hissadora leaves him in the chauffeur's charge, saying she has things she has to do and she will be back later. Cayetano has enough presence of mind to tell her to be careful because Leoncerdo is on the loose. She almost laughs, saying not to worry because what could Leoncerdo do to her? He tells her to be careful anyway as the chauffeur leads him inside. She texts El Diablo, saying she has to see him and has good news. Little do any of them know (but the orchestra does) that Leoncerdo is watching her from behind a fallen tree, thinking to himself that he will wipe that grin off her face.

Viviana's Place, Outside:   Daniel arrives as they exit the house with Roman. They are on the way to see Camila and Daniel expresses his frustration that Camila has marginalized him.  They have to promise him that they won't let Camila give in to the devil.  Viviana tries to get him not to worry; Camila won't cave to this demand. Daniel reminds Viviana that Camila is capable of doing anything for her mother. “We both know her for that.” Rafael promises they will speak for him and Vivi says they will call later. Finally Rafael tells Daniel to stay calm and not do anything crazy. [Anvil alert]

El Diablo's Lair, Study:   He reads Hissadora's message and texts her back. “Isadora, we'll meet at the Hotel Imperiale. I'll go there and wait for you.” He calls for Omar, who can hear him through the door and is therefore very prompt. He explains that Natalia will be entertaining her friends there on Friday and he is to leave the house to the ladies. They are to feel comfortable there. “Of course, Master; anything else?” “Yes. Saturday night after the wedding, you are to take the weekend off until Monday.” “Anything before that?” “That depends only on if something is offered to me. I think this Saturday will be the best night of my entire life.” [In your dreams, Satan] He gets up for them to leave and Omar exits, saying he will get the car. “Ay, Camila, I can't wait to go over* your flesh. At last, at last you will be mine.” [*recorrer] [One would think he is already having an orgasm over this.]

Reclusorio de Mujeres:   Camila waits in the visitors' room. We hear sad opera music for the reunion embrace and suspense music for the rest, like Cathy and Heathcliff on the moor. They sit opposite each other as the guard stands between Augustina and the door. Camila explains that Augustina's divorce is in motion and will not take long. Augustina is relieved to hear this. Camila tells her she has talked to El Diablo. Augustina shows some intelligence here saying that he must have demanded La Malquerida; that's what he has always wanted. He is demanding that in exchange for the evidence of her innocence. Camila looks down at the table before facing her. Augustina tells her she must not cave to this blackmail. Camila looks like she is trying to avoid crying as she tells her mother not to worry. They have a plan to get the necessary documents and the briefcase with the fake passports. He'll be arrested and she will be free. Augustina then tries to get her to swear that if she fails to obtain these things she will not cave to El Diablo's blackmail. She would rather be in prison for the rest of her life than have Camila lose everything to El Diablo.  Music finishes with the scene-ender chords.

El Diablo's Lair, Outside:   The black SUV awaits its infernal owner. Omar is opening the door but before he reaches it Daniel appears from behind the car and shoves him to the ground. He's become quite the street fighter as he successfully holds off Omar while telling El Diablo he will not touch Camila. "I'll kill you if you touch her!"  The two glare at each other.

Avances

Omar gets reinforcements and El Diablo escalates his demands.

Comments:
Chis in FL, last night you responded to a comment I made about not wanting Isa to get her punishment as swift as Leo and Dio. You responded: “If y'all don't think Isadora doesn't deserve the worst the screenwriters can come up with, well, I'm not saying you are bad people, but I do disagree with your judgment on this”. I do not appreciate this remark. In the first place you have grossly misinterpreted my comment. I never said that I condoned any of Isa’s actions or crimes. I was merely saying that of the 3 villians, I would like for the other 2 to meet their fate first. My comment was an opinion. You responded with a judgment.

Thanks as always for the prompt and detailed recap Urban. Quick thoughts and comments before bedtime…

Wow! Luzma was really mean to Pablo tonight. Poor guy just keeps coming back for more punishment. I like how Camila was coaching Luzma through prepping herself for what she would do if she were confronted by Leo again—not letting herself be paralyzed by fear. She also informed Luzma that she had called her psychologist to come make a house call to Luzma. But Cam still didn’t want Luzma to lock herself up in the bedroom like she’s the prisoner.

Yay! Amanda said yes. It sounds to me like Natalia is planning on leaving town, from the hints Amanda dropped to Osvaldo. Nat and Yago were sampling different wedding cakes, by the way. Loved the look on Nat’s face, like you are so not fooling me anymore, jerk.

Glad to see that Yago was concerned about his dad’s health. I wonder if he’s reconsidering his new partnership with Dion after what he heard from Mariano.

Mariano really didn’t like hearing that Dan is the only man Camila has ever let herself rely on. As Rod said, well, it’s the truth. Mariano is just going to have to accept it.

And finally, Dan, Dan, Dan. Although I enjoyed seeing Dion get punched in the gut and face (I have fantasized about it almost as much as Dion has fantasized about Camila), we know no good will come of this.

UA, wow, you are like clockwork. Thank you. This was a riveting episode to recap.
Yes, the bed did seem too small for Daniel LOL
I am scared for Luzma, where are the blood hounds, why isn't anyone picking up his scent?? Wasn't he in the dumpster. He must be reeking, the stench, oh right it's a telenovela. He must have some Febreze with him or something. I smell him through my TV.
I am happy for Vivi, Rafa and Roman, this episode needed something positive.
Maylen never stops, I'm glad that Pablo remains strong, mature and in love. Thank goodness for strong men!!

Tablet Jefa-- Speaking of strong men...that Hipolito is quickly becoming like his character in CME, whom we called SUPER Lazaro. No challenge is too great, and no risk is too big to take in order to defend his lady love and the people he cares about. I love how 100% sure he is about his ability to get things done. He's either putting Leo back in jail, or he's taking him out of this world. I totally believe he'll do this.

Thanks for your recap UA. The tension keeps increasing and a quite a few are not making rationale decisions, oh my.

Like Vivi and Tablet Jefa, I'm happy there were a few good things that happened this episode. Hurray for Amanda and Osvaldo and Vivi, Rafa, and Roman.

Really concerned about whether deluded Cayo will make it to the end of this TN.

I know good character don't do things like this but Dio has so ticked me off I want Cam to pretend to go along w/his plan and shoot, stab, etc him in his bedroom.

I don't know if I'm really buying that Mir is now that upset w/Dan. It seems very convenient for her epiphany to occur days before they leave for Chile.

Remember when El Perver-tio was in the dumpster even he couldn't stand the odor?

Smell-O-Vision would not be a good thing here.

Things will definitely still get worse before they get better; Daniel should have remembered that El Diablo has many purchased souls to rely on at least for the moment.

I would love to see someone take Leoncerdo out of this world if only so there is no chance he would ever escape prison again.

Before I retire for the evening, I will post this link to Tosca for the opera lovers on this blog. This is the full film starring Raina Kabaivanska, Placido Domingo, and Sherril Milnes from 1974. Camila, Daniel, and Dionicio are Tosca, Cavaradossi, and Scarpia at this point in the story.

I hope Pablo is ticked off at Luzma when he find about her deal with new girl. I know she has had a hard time here but she is being ridiculous. I was hoping Super Hipolito would talk some sense into her.

And Mariano was so close to Super status when he actually thought to close the door. But then he leaves without searching pops room for drugs. So close. He should've consulted with the orchestra.

Kelly

Vivi. yes, Hipolito has become the MAN.I love his take charge attitude.

Thanks UA for your always prompt and fascinating recap. I'm happy to see that Nat has a plan in mind for both Yago and Dio. I'm anxious to see what the plan is and also can't wait for the bachelorette party.
Although I was never really captivated by the Luz/Pablo subplot, I do feel bad for what Pablo is he's going through. I am curious as to how their situation is going to finally be resolved.
I'm glad to see that Miriam is beginning to see the light regarding her marriage and unless she's attempting to make Dan jealous, it looks like she has found the strength to move on. Too bad there's not enough episodes left for Camila to give Dan a hard time before taking him back.

OMG, that stupid Dan jerk ruining everything ONCE AGAIN!!! GOSH! omg, like once again he just HAD to pull his wannabe hero act by tryin' to be all macho against Dio. SO ANNOYING!!! Like, seriously! WHO APPOINTED HIM AS CAMI'S "WHITE KNIGHT"??? And now Dio's got the upperhand by adding another ultimatum to the deal, so thanks a lot, Dan! Great job with that dumb move you pulled. You just couldn't stay out of Cami's business, huh? And this is all that damn Osvaldo's fault 'cuz he just HAD to inform Dan about Cami's situation!!! Why??? Just why???

---Really? I think Miriam is understandably upset with Dan due to his lack of attention & communication towards her as of lately. Yes, it is VERY convenient that this is occurring just days before they depart (like that will ever really happen), but of course, something had to happen to keep Dan from going.

Foxy,
I am sorry that my post disagreeing with what I thought you were saying about Isadora's punishment went so very, very, wrong. I did intend to be judgmental - but about Isadora, not about you.
I tried, and failed miserably, to direct my comments at your opinion, not at you.
I do not believe that my opinion - that Isadora deserves as harsh or harsher a fate as those coming to Dio or Leo - should be privileged over yours or anyone else's.
But of course, as it turns out, I was misconstruing your original comment, tilting at the wrong windmill.
You had referred to not looking forward to Isadora's comeuppance with as "blood thirsty" an eye as you were to those of Leo and Dio. Then you said "their fate can't come soon enough or be bad enough." From that, I had gotten the impression that you didn't want Isadora's punishment either a) to come quickly, or b) to be as bad as that of Leo or Dio.
Obviously, on looking back and rereading, I now see that you in fact clearly only said that you were "not anxious" for Isadora "to meet her fate," referring to the timing of her fall, and did not say that her fate should not, ultimately, be very bad indeed.
Thus, I am doubly sorry, both for misunderstanding you and for allowing the vehemence of my disagreement with what I (wrongly) thought you said to lead me to leave an intemperate post.
I may have been wrong about what you were opining (and about what cathyx said as well) but whatever you might have said or meant, I had no business responding in a manner that would make you feel judged.
For the record, if anyone out there really does think that Isadora deserves a lesser punishment than Dio or Leo, I may (ok, I do) disagree, but I would be very interested in finding out why anyone thinks that she isn't down there with the lowest of the low AB has to offer.
All I can come up with in mitigation is that she was treated in a rather dehumanizing way by her own family and Al's father. But even so, her response is radically disproportionate and her choice of victims (at least after Sr. Lazcano the elder) ill-targeted.
Btw, where is licenado Salomon, the only surviving participant in her "sale" to the old man? Did he really skip the country with a briefcase full of cash, or did Isadora meet him on the way to the airport?
Again, I regret having made you, Foxy (or you cathyx), uncomfortable, and will try to be more civil.
Chris in FL

Miriam's really going to be pissed when Dan comes back all battered and bruised from fighting Camila's battles.

UA: Do you really think there's an anvil over Luzma? I think that she'll be fighting back after that pep talk from Camila. Maybe with a big jug of arroz con leche over Leo's head ... his just desserts.

And that bed ... reminds me of what someone once told me about the berths on a mid-century sailboat ... made for one in comfort or two in love, clearly not the case with Miriam and Dan.

Aleta, the anvil I'm envisioning over Luzma is the risk that she will become a junior Tosca and commit suicide if Leoncerdo gets too close.

In either his or El Diablo's case it would be completely appropriate for an Agatha Christie finale per Murder on the Orient Express. However, I don't see that happening.

Thanks, UA. Wow -- so much going on and you covered it well with great little asides. I must say that you or whoever came to call Isadora the Black Widow was so right on. Widow (planned widow perhaps) of Alonso's father and now chomping at the bit to do it one more time with Cayetano. And so appropriately dressed as her swaying, slobbering hubby signed away his fortune.

Hipolito -- what more can we say? I have thought for a while that Leo's undoing, as in big anvil, would come from Piedad or Hipolito. We'll see. No use counting on anything here. I certainly didn't see coming what looks like the previews suggest.

Lovely moment between Amanda and Osvaldo. Perhaps Vivi and Rafa will see the marital light. A wedding sure seems easier that establishing their common-law arrangement as part of the adoption process. We will have multiple weddings and couplings during that last episode -- at least I hope so.

Natalia is certainly looking and sounding wise and poised to action. And, Agustina is certainly giving Camila the right advice. But looks like more challenges ahead that will change the existing equations.

Traveling Lady- You are so right that right now there really is no way to tell who will take which villain out and, who each villain will succeed in tormenting before they meet justice, justice, whether that be jail or death. The writers can take Leo's downfall in so many directions-- Luzma, Pablo, Piedad, Hip--any of them could be the one to take Leo down.

NADF- Camila was the one who asked Os to call Dan and warn him about Leo. Then Os asked for an update on the Dion situation so that he could share that with Dan too. So Os didn't go against Camila's wishes when he called Dan.

Of course, she will not be pleased that Dan did such a rash and fruitless thing, which looks like it will only cause Dion to up the ante.

I don't know whether Hissadora planned her first husband's demise from the wedding day; I'm more inclined to think that as the abuse continued the idea formed in her head until she could come up with a workable plan. She may have thought that she could just wait for his natural demise at first, but eventually realized that mean people can be so stubborn about staying alive.

We can certainly expect a lot of twists and turns during the remaining episodes.

Traveling Lady- I was also hoping that all the stuff the adoption lady said Vivi and Rafa had to do to establish a common law marriage, on top of all the usual adoption requirements all couples have to go through, would change Vivi's mind about marrying Rafa. But, nope. She still seems quite content to leave Rafa hanging with the marriage question. She's still wearing the ring though.

Vivi, did you see the avances? He will up the ante tonight, leaving Camila in the worst possible position. Paquita will have a hell of an episode tonight.

We have a story full of victimzed/traumatized women: Camila, Luzma, Viviana, Piedad, Amanda, Natalia, Augustina, Rosario, and Hissadora. Only the latter reacted by becoming evil.

Vivi - Novela-Vivi is such a great character and usually right, but I think on this one she is just wrong. Given her devotion to Roman and Rafa's clear devotion to her, wouldn't it make sense to formalize the arrangement to give Roman a sense of security. Hope springs eternal. I am envisioning a finale full of love and weddings -- AB, don't disappoint me!

I can't believe how traditional my novela watching sometimes makes me!

Chris in FL after reading your very sincere post I almost feel like I should be the one apologizing :-)
Misunderstandings are bound to happen but the sign of a good team like ours is the ability to clear the air and move on.

Urban- Yep. Those avances left me feeling mighty anxious for Camila. How much more pressure can they heap on her? All the people she loves the most are in great danger (Gussy, Dan, Luzma).

Traveling Lady- Maybe Roman can convince Vivi to marry Rafa? He could learn a few tricks from Ana on how to pressure parents into marriage. :)

UA, once again a quick & fantastic recap, gracias.

Wow, what a change in Natalia's demeanor, she has gone from
naivete to conniving & I love it. Can't wait to see what she has in mind for Yago & Dio.

Although I feel Luzma's pain, I hate the way she is treating dear Pablo. I just know it will be Pablo that will save her from a fate worse than death & she will be safely in his arms again.

This mth TV y Novelas gives Amores verdaderos y Corona de lágrimas 4 stars. IMO lagrimas deserves 0 & AV 1, they are both awful. lagrimas equals FELS.

Thank you, UA, and all recappers. My internet's went down for days so haven't been able to comment. Now, I'm off to work so can't get into anything too much.

Agree with your anvil alerts, UA, but am hoping that Luzman contemplates murder over suicide...although I agree she appears to be heading in the suicide direction.

Also love your pics of Natalia. The girl has the art of expression down pat:)

Thanks so much, UA, for yet another prompt and excellent recap. Just one more to go for you--have you decided what you'll watch next?

I also agree with your likening the situation between Camila, Dio, and Dan to that of Tosca, Scarpia, and Cavaradossi. It's eerie how much the scene in Act II in which she asks him "How much?" and he responds resembles the one here in Amor Bravío. Even his repeated mia's are very much like Dio's repeated "my" and "mine". I just hope (and believe) that Camila and Dan don't wind up the way Tosca and Cavaradossi do. Dio, OTOH, is welcome to share Scarpia's fate. Ojalá.

And while I'm talking about music, Kelly, I loved your "He should have consulted with the orchestra."

Tablet jefa, I broke out laughing at your remark about Leoncerdo: "I smell him through my TV."

UA--Awesome recap! Love your asides, in particular, "Anna Wintour would be proud" and "In your dreams, Satan!". Hahaha!

TEAM OSWALDO!!!! I got so choked up when Amanda told him yes! I just love that guy. He has been so loyal to Amanda and, while he's not such a looker, that type of devotion goes a long way in my book. I love Amanda too. The actress who plays her just seems so nice.

I agree with everyone who is concerned about the way Luzma is treating Panlo. Somewhere in all this it seems she's crossed a line and is just being mean to him. These writers have been sooooo good but this storyline doesn't ring true (IMHO!)

Loved seeing Dio bleed!

I hope we get a little vengeance soon and don't have to wait til the very last episode.

Thanks so much, UA!

Katy

Juanita, this proves beyond any doubt that novela writers are have the cultural sophistication to provide us with something that leads to these observations. There are numerous versions of The Count of Monte Cristo including those that don't bear that name. All the tangled family tree stuff in novelas -- often its focal point -- is right out of opera along with all the sexual blackmail and over-the-top villains.

Where the two forms finally part company is the way the stories end.

Does anybody know what replaces Lagrimas? If it's Corzaon Indomable I might pass. I just read it's a remake of Marimar which I couldn't stand.

Yes UA Corazón Indomable replaces lágrimas. You might want to reconsider for a little while anyway, it has Rodolfo in it, also Daniel Arenas y Diego Olivera & Mariano. Sorry to hear that one may be lousy too. La tempestad after AV (Mejia), Que bonito Amor after AB (also Mejia). Mejia should become an adjective, sinónimos, lousy, awful, terrible, intolarable, basura. Mejia can bat them out like crazy, they are all the same mierda.

I'm changing to telemundo after AB.
El señor de los cielos, starts 4/15
I hope someone wants to recap.
It has Viviana in it y Rafael Amaya, don't know of him.

I just cked the cast of Corazon Idomable on Wiki, it has some really good people. Rodolfo (Ricardo Franco) is a pilot, s/b guapísimo in his uniform.
Interested yet UA?

Do we know yet if Corazon Indomable is coming to the US? I think I may switch to Telemundo and check that out. And I just saw a commercial last night for Los Exitosos Perez on MundoFox for anyone missing Jaime Camil. I thought it said it started next Monday but it's not on the guide yet.

If Camila has already told everyone about Dio's offer, why would she keep his next offer silent? It'd be harder to send someone to hurt Dan, et al, if they are in Chile and know about the threat. Hubris will be his downfall. And that downfall will be good.

Kelly

Don't usually like Meija's stuff but Que Bonito Amor isn't that bad; it's quite good actually and Jorge Salinas and Pablo are very good -- Dana Garcia is a good actress but her new visage is a little distracting.

UA; Corazon is very attractive and Cesar Evaro is no Dionisio Ferrer; I went from hating him to wanting to cuddle him. So, if you want to give it a look at first before dismissing it when it airs on Univision.

Variopinta, I too am now thinking seriously of moving over to Telemundo to watch El Señor de los Cielos, with Viviana and also Rafael Amaya, who was in "La Reina del Sur." I have a hard time imagining him as a narcotraficante, but....

In spite of an appealing cast for Qué Bonita Amor, I wasn't impressed by the little snippets they've shown, and what folks here have said about Mejia discourages me further.

My only hesitation about moving to Telemundo is that I want and need the delightful daily recaps. I recall only one TN where CarayCaray provided daily recaps. That was for "El Clon." Several brave and immensely talented volunteers wrote recaps on more than one day each week, and one of them persuaded Melinama to set aside a separate space for the recaps. But I think eventually there were only two recappers, both superb, but totally exhausted, if I recall correctly, by the time El Clon was over. It would be GREAT if we could find five recappers for "El Señor de las Cielos." If only my Spanish weren't so dreadful....

Juanita, my Spanish isn't perfect, either. I am constantly frustrated by my comparative lack of sophistication in it. I get confused on verb tenses and with sentence construction with reflexive verbs. I've learned a lot from watching novelas, though.

Seeing Rodolfo again might be worth watching CI.

I'll endure Mejia's faults for my two main men (JS and PM), who are rivals in this one. My biggest complaint with Mejia is his constant obsession with having comic relief in every episode. That is the worst thing to do to a good story. This series will also have Arturo Peniche and between those three men and the good music it should have it will be worth my time. I've already downloaded my new internet forum sig for it and will look for more poster shots for my recap entries.

Anon 2:54 am - yes Miriam should be upset what I'm not buying is that she is finally really acting on that now. She's been upset w/Dan in the past but her actions Monday seems like a leap.

Katy - ITA w/you about Luzma. Her actions have turned mean and for me not only does it not ring true, its annoying b/c the obvious goal is to make Pablo really consider NG.

I am starting to wonder whether Mayelin will instead be a new victim.

Maybe I was right about Nat leaving town with Aaron.

I was wondering last night how much more Cam can take. So much has happened to her one thing right after another, since Miriam returned from the dead.

I think Vivi will marry Rafa. As the adoption proceedings move ahead, I think she’ll realize that she wants a traditional family unit.

I like (probably not the best word) how Luz is stern (mean) to Pablo and then when he leaves, she breaks down. I know that sounds weird.

The crying TN at 7:00 is in Ultimas Capitulos. Is the William Levy one replacing it?—Thanks Variopinta, you read my mind. I’d go to TM to watch El Senor de los Cielos, but without the recaps, I’d be lost.

UA: NG being a victim. I wondered that, too. If Leo can't get to Luz right away, he may "practice" on her.

Nanette

Ah, UA, if only my Spanish were "not perfect" rather than "dreadful"!

I was looking forward to seeing Jorge Salinas again, and, as you say, Arturo Peniche is in the cast as well (I loved him ever since En Nombre del Amor), but I was rather turned off by the excerpts I saw. Moreover, I know this is heresy to say on CarayCaray, but I can take mariachis only in small doses. Anyway, unless El Señor de los Cielos turns out to be a real dud (not impossible), I think I'll watch that, and perhaps catch glimpses of Jorge and Arturo during commercial breaks.

Thanks UA, I thought this episode was a bit boring and more of a setup episode. The only bright spot was Amanda agreeing to marry Osvaldo.

So Isa got the old fogy to sign on the dotted line. Not sure how that will get undone. I liked that Isa overheard the convo between Mariano and Yago and now thinks Dion has turned against her by putting MQ on the line. Maybe those two will take each other out in the end.

I admit that I FF through the Pablo/Luzma/NewGirl scenes. I can't stand that story line anymore. Why wouldn't Luzma agree to leave town in order to stay away from Leo?

I think that after the talk Miriam had with Dan, she's getting a clue of how her future with Dan will be. I'm betting she's assessing the situation to see if she wants to continue as planned. That's what I would do. She see's that he will not be going back to how he was before, no matter how much time passes, and she needs time to figure out if this is acceptable or not.

I might switch over to Telemundo for El Senor too, as much as I love Jorge Salinas, even a pretty face and good acting can't cover up a bad script.

I would be up for recapping, but I do have limited time, so they may not be as timely as you are used to. But I will only recap if there is a team, not by myself.

I just had another thought: Why on earth, when Camila agreed to meet with El Diablo, did nobody think she should wear a wire? That would have solved her current problem.

Mejia always, always manages to get huge stars for his casts. I will for sure be watching one 10pm show in real time, and recording the other (QEB and El Senor). That will give me time to decide if I want to choose one over the other, or continue to watch them both.

Juanita- Part of the trouble with doing full daily recaps for Telemundo shows is that there just isn't enough payback (comments) from Telemundo watchers for all the work it takes to do recaps. I remember the dedication the two recappers on El Clon put into it. I used to read the recaps, and would even comment on occasion, even though I didn't watch the show, because I hate, hate, hate seeing a recap with few comments. I know the recappers put so much time and effort into them, and the El Clon ones even had great pics-- it just hurts me not to see comments. When they re-aired Dona Barbara recently, I read the old recaps and was shocked by how few comments there were on daily recaps of such a great tn.

Isa is getting LB through fraud.
Like you can't inherit if you kill the person you are inheriting from.

UA, they thought they had it covered with the recorder but Dio the snake insisted on going outside.

Hopefully Isa won't succeed in killing Caye, so there will be no need for anyone to contest this will and fight about it. It would be hard to contest anyway since Caye did sign it in front of a notary. And that notary/attorney may not want to admit that Caye seemed a bit foggy (and perhaps not of sound mind) to him when he signed the document. He really should have pushed the issue more. But I guess in his eyes Caye just looked like a grouchy old man.

Nanette- I think I might know what you mean about that scene with Luzma. The way she broke down crying in her mother's arms as soon as she kicked Pablo out (in a cruel way) shows that the way she is with Pablo is just a front. She really does need the love and care of her mother AND Pablo (no matter how much she denies it).

Great recap of an episode of The Good (Scoobies), The Bad (Dio/Isa) and the Ugly (el cerdo).

Re Miriam: IMO, it wasn't so much a sudden "epiphany" as Miriam reaching her limit of frustration with Daniel and their situation. I think she's suddenly snippy and sarcastic with him because all of a sudden he's all "I'll go with you ... I'll take you ..." (his heart is not in it, so he seems fake to her) while he's mind is still obviously elsewhere. She told him "I don't need to be attached to you 24-7, I just need the courtesy of communication so I know what's going on, where you are" (I'm paraphrasing).

UA - I agree about the wire and I think that if Dan and Aaron had been involved in helping Camila with her meeting with Satan they would have thought about it. They are much more cognizant of Dio's intelligence and are more tech-savvy than the Scoobies II.

Soyyo

Basically during their last conversation Miriam learned that Dan: 1) does not want to go back to Chile willingly; and 2) cares for her/loves her, but is not IN LOVE with her anymore. I can undestand her starting to distance herself physically (avoiding the kiss) and emotionally now that she knows this.

Vivi, I too remember how disheartening it was for the "El Clon" recappers to see so few comments. I wonder, though, whether there would be more viewers and commenters if there was as much attention to the upcoming TNs on Telemundo as there is for those on Univision. IIRC, having daily recaps for "El Clon" was a very last-minute decision. At the time, too, I recall someone saying that many fewer people were able to receive Telemundo. I don't know whether that's still true. Even if it is, if the number of viewers of CarayCaray has grown enough, there might still be a considerably larger potential audience for TNs on Telemundo than there was several years ago.

Also, even if we can't get daily recaps for El Señor de los Cielos, I wonder whether somehow Gato Viejo could be persuaded to provide daily transcripts, as s/he has done for Amor Bravío. Even though I usually watch AB with Spanish captions, often they go by too quickly. I find it VERY helpful to be able to refer to the transcript to see passages that I missed. And occasionally, if I've had a power outage and have to try to find the episode later on YouTube, there won't be any captions, and I'm even more dependent on and grateful for Gato Viejo's transcripts.

If Gato Viejo could do transcripts for El Señor de los Cielos, that would be a big help.

If a Cielo discussion group is posted daily,we can see how much response there is & los carayderos, I'm sure will jump in & then maybe be willing to recap. At least the discussion would be a place to ask questions.

And yes, Gato Viejos transcripts would be wonderful.

I think there will be more response since Mejia is looming. After AB, QBA it will be a big disappointment I fear. FELS had Jorge Salinas & Pablo Montero & nothing could save it. The only thing worthwhile were Guillermo Garcia Cantu y Diana Bracho, fantastic villains, what a waste.

Even in the worst TN's there are super performances.

Vivi: Thank you. That's what I meant. I really like that about Luz. She's done that quite often. In her deluded, immature way (she is very young after all), she won't let Pablo get in her way of doing what she thinks she must for his sake. I like that we get to see the her heartbreak after she breaks his heart. I hope this storyline ends soon, but it will probably be a "gran finale" ending.

Variopinta: a discussion group for Cielo is a great idea. I'd watch it, if I knew I would have a chance to get informal mini-recaps through discussion.

I think that Vivi and Rafa blew Dan off when he needed support from friends. When Rafa found out that Vivi was approached by Bruno, he went ballistic, and I think that Aaron had to hold him back. Mir may have come back from the dead, but in his heart, Dan is still married to Cam so he still reacts like a husband. To him, "his wife" was told that if she doesn't have sex with a lecherous criminal old enough to be her father, she will lose her family's land and her mom will rot in jail. Imho, Dan did what many husbands would do if their wives were threatened.

I think that someone mentioned that despite Mir's return, Cam and Dan never divorced.

@ Vivi in DC ---so if that's the case, my response to that is...really??? Why Cami? Why??? Why the HELL would you do that when that's only gonna make Dan keep coming back when SUPPOSEDLY you're trying to keep him away from all this??? Gosh!!! So now that means that neither of you are staying true to your words! So pathetic and it makes me disappointed! But really? Osvaldo was only following her instructions? I don't remember that. All I remember is that he asked Cami what had happened and she told him, but she never said to inform Dan about it. Like, why would she? Supposedly she's trying to work this all out on her own & informing Dan about this would only get him involved because obviously he just can't keep out of her business. So if he were to know what had transpired...what the heck for? Doesn't she think he would want to do something about it, like, I dunno, go ballistic on Dio??? So seriously if this is the case, then Cami, que estupida eres.

ok, so i just reread your statement, Vivi, and now I disagree with you completely. Ok, so Osvaldo's not going against Cam's wishes? Not true. If all she said was to warn Dan about the Leo issue, then THAT'S IT. She didn't tell him to say any more than that. But Osvaldo felt the need to add the part about Dio's second ultimatum, which I think was truly unnecessary. So in other words, he DID go against Cami's wishes because she never said to tell that part to Dan. He thought he was speaking for her but really he just ruined everything for her. So yeah, I feel rightly justified in being mad at Osvaldo! It IS his fault! I just knew something wasn't right.

Hey NADF- Don't lose sight of the fact that we actually agree that what Dan did was rash and foolish.

We can agree to disagree that Camila gave Os permission to tell Dan. My take on it is that he specifically told her he was asking about the Dion situation in order to inform Dan. That fact that she didn't say no, means she gave her permission. After the last time Dan got so mad and hurt that she wasn't telling him what the plans were and what was going on (after she and Mariano kicked him out of the hostel and they met accidentally at Vivi's house), Cam apologized and admitted he does have a right to know what's going on. She doesn't want him to butt in and involve himself, but she does believe he has a right to be kept updated on the Isa-Dion situation. I think that’s fair because he does have very real reasons to know how things are progressing, even if only to add to the info he needs to bring his case against Dion in Chile.

Now back to the show.

UA thanks very much. Also thanks for the Tosca link. Now I wonder if you have a link for missed episode (with English subtitle and for free). I missed an episode of AB (Good Friday)because I accidentally erased my dvr. I went to Hulu but it's being offered thru Hulu Plus and it's not captioned. Thanks for the heads up on upcoming tns. I stand guilty watching Corona de Lagrimas even tho I said it's bad and will not watch it. It's still bad but a novella is a novella. I am now really worried what to watch after my best ever drama AB.
Vivi, about Luzma, I was wondering, why do tns abound with women like Luzma,Natalia,(AB) Marichuy(CCA)who are headstrong and impossible that they begin to irritate tn watchers. Just saying.

Vida2, please e-mail me.

Mariano leaves La Malquerida as soon as he finds Camila isn't there? He couldn't be bothered to check on his terrified sister-in-law? Or his kid brother, who is also in danger from Leoncio? I find him just a little too Camila-centered (and no, simultaneously falling in love with Miriam does not make him more balanced in my eyes).

And I was about to scream when I thought Mariano was going to tell Iago the "steal the briefcase at the bachelorette" party plan. Did he think the better of it, or did he really not know it? I can't remember.

I liked Miriam's new doctor's skepticism. Perhaps he skipped his med school classes on soap opera diseases, such as traumatic brain injuries that are only dangerous when you find out upsetting secrets, but allow you to make long trips, including by plane, safely.

vida2- Oh no! Friday's episode was a good one too. But Jardinera did such an amazing job recapping it that it's easy to picture it.

Would you put Natalia in the same category as Luzma? I would say Nat's problem up till now was swallowing/burying her pride and not demanding the respect she deserved (with Yago)-- just the opposite of being headstrong. Now she's back to her senses, and we'll just have to wait to see what her plans are. But she's cool as a cucumber and thinking her next move through very carefully.

Luzma on the other hand is not thinking coolly or rationally. But considering her horrific experience, her PTSD, and her age, I'm cutting her a lot of slack for handling her unconsummated marriage so badly.

I only saw bits of CCEA, but that character just seemed stupid. I know many loved that tn and the character, but from the parts I saw, she always seemed to have a deficient thought process (a dumb bunny). Whereas I find Luzma to be quite smart and rational-- when it doesn't concern her love/sex life with Pablo.

Camila’s headstrong too, as are most tn heroines. If they were all sweetness and light and conformist, then tns wouldn’t be interesting or fun, and we’d find these heroines to be boring. Others who have watched tns for years can probably make a better comparison between heroines who are headstrong, and those who always remained more even tempered.

UtahDesert- Mariano knows all about the briefcase plan, so I think we can assume he chose not to tell share that with Yago for a reason.
