Amor Bravío #161 (Uni 156) Thu 4/4/13 Amor Engañoso

Vivi and Rafa are surprised and sad that Aaron is leaving so soon.  Even Roman is sad.  Daniel might be sad, but since his face is one giant bruise, it's hard to tell.  He thanks Aaron again for impersonating him.  Aaron sweetly says "When I got here I had one brother, and now I'm leaving with two and a nephew and a sister-in-law and a bunch of friends and that makes me really happy." Dude, Aaron is such a nice guy, he really deserves that.  But, come on, writers…a girlfriend?  Would that be too much to ask?  Roman refers to Rafa as his dad, saying it's too bad everyone's skipping out on his dad's book party.  Roman says he's already thinking of Rafa as his dad and Vivi as his mom.  Slow-mo happy family moment.

Piedad and Dorotea come to Camila's cabin where she brusquely informs Piedad that they have an appointment with an oncologist in half an hour.  Piedad doesn't appreciate Dorotea burdening Camila when she already has so much going on. Camila explains an oncologist is a cancer specialist and she needs to have the lumps checked out.  There's a big musical crash every time someone says "cancer."  Dorotea promises to keep where Piedad and Camila have gone a secret so no one gets worried.

Luzma has cooked up some new scheme to push Mayalen into Pablo's arms.  Mayalen still doesn't think it will work, but she understands why Luzma doesn't want Pablo left alone. Pablo catches them hugging and is suspicious, but Luzma pretends it was just a goodbye hug.  Mayalen won't tell Pablo what they were talking about, so she just says Luzma was feeling a little sensitive.

Teresa has just gotten a job offer, and Padre Anselmo thinks it's a great offer, with a prestigious law firm in Mexico City.  He says this sure does challenge her decision to put her personal life first.  Teresa realizes she's done a lot of dumbass things, but she's realizing there are a lot of things she can't control and she needs to learn how to live in the now.  She's going to decide whether or not she goes to Chile depending on how Agustina's case goes.  She pulls out her planner to talk about dates and in a classic TV and movie trope, this is the moment she realizes she might be pregnant.  Which is such a crock.  Come on, back me up ladies (and the gents who are in serious relationships with women)…one does not simply forget that one has a visitor scheduled to arrive.  It's a frickin' recurring appointment that pops up on my phone, for crying out loud!  Teresa claims she just remembered an appointment she has and leaves the Padre alone and confused.

Dante tells Daniel that Teresa hasn't made up her mind yet and he doesn't think it's right to ask her to leave everything behind for him.  He knows he's interested in her, he likes being around her…Miriam thinks he's falling in love and can start letting go of that old love that had him trapped.  Daniel is grumpy he's never heard about this "old love" when they're supposed to be BFFs.  Miriam gleefully says he never told Daniel because she's a forbidden woman.  Dante says it doesn't matter who she is anymore, she's in the past and Teresa is in the present.

Teresa gets back to her room at Amanda's and consults yet another calendar, then the pregnancy test that I hope she purchased about five towns over or eeeeeverybody's going to know about it.  Sure enough, she's having Dante's baybay. She has no idea how Dante's going to take it, but she's glad and she'll figure out how to balance her work and personal life.  Oh, man…talk about jumping right into the deep end!

Leoncio sneaks into Aurelio's room in the servant's quarters, looking for the money he hid.  Did I miss something?  He did say "Aurelio" right?  Who the heck is Aurelio?  Anyway, he doesn't find the money and he reminds himself to put the room back together so it looks like no one was there.  He notices a jar where the money was hidden.  Ah, Aurelio is one of the Buenaventura ranch hands.  He's starting to come into his room, so Leoncio pulls out his knife.  Aurelio is interrupted by Yago, who wants him to come to the office to discuss the next shipment of bulls.  Yago also asks him to please report any strange goings-on to Mariano while Yago is away…that includes anything to do with Leoncio or with Cayetano.  Leoncio waits a few seconds before sneaking out of the room.

The doctor tells Piedad to calm down.  They'll run some tests.  His concern is that because of family history and her age, she needs to have a mammogram right away.  Piedad's already thinking that she's going to die, but Camila calms her down.

Luzma confirms with Rodolfo that he's going to drive her and Dorotea to the bachelorette party.  Rodolfo asks if Natalia's really happy to be marrying that dumbass Yago.  Her happiness is his only comfort.  Luzma hedges and says he'll be happy with the decision that Natalia is making.

The doctor tells Piedad that the state funds mammograms for low-income women when a doctor recommends the test.  He goes on to tell her that if they do see anything, they'll confirm with an ultrasound and a biopsy and she'll be treated at an oncology center in Toluca.  He hands over the request for her to take down to the lab.

Dr. Ortega calls Daniel and asks him to come visit his office.  Daniel thinks the worst, but the doctor asks him to please come talk about it in person.

Vivi, Rafa, and Roman are having more family fun time when Padre Anselmo comes to visit.  All the kids are going back to the orphanage now that the roof is fixed.  Roman will have to stay there until he's officially Vivi and Rafa's kid.

Daniel tells Dante that he has to visit Dr. Ortega, but he's supposed to go alone.  Dante decides to go with him and tell Miriam that Daniel is helping him shop for gifts for people back in Chile.

Vivi and Rafa don't want to be separated from Roman.  The feeling is mutual.  Rafa promises they'll visit him every day and they'll be back together soon.  Everybody gets weepy.

Daniel and Dante get to the hospital, where Daniel sees Camila.  He says he's doing better since he's beating.  Camila tells him Piedad is getting a mammogram.  He starts to talk about "them" but Camila shuts him down.  Daniel tells her he's there to talk to Miriam's doctor.  "Then don't make him wait."  Daniel tells her to call him if she needs anything, and that goes for Piedad too.  He wishes her luck getting the passports.  Camila thought bubbles that Dionisio knows her weak spots are her mother and Daniel.

Dionisio goes shopping for lingerie for Camila.  BARF!  I'll spare you the thought bubble.

Daniel takes time away from the doctor who's going to give him important information about Miriam to call Vivi and tell her Camila needs some support.  OK, actually, the doctor was keeping them waiting. He comes in and tells them that he talked to Miriam's previous doctor and he ok'd travel.  "I wanted to talk to you because I don't understand my colleague's decision.  I can't find your wife's test results or her file.  That's why I called Dr. Valtierra, and even though he authorized her to travel in spite of the aneurysm, I don't agree with his diagnosis.  In order for me to authorize her travel without doing a new set of tests and analyzing them myself to give my own diagnosis.  I can't do that, though, unless you and Miriam give me permission.  It's your decision.  Maybe if you talk to your wife, you can postpone the trip a few days." Daniel and Dante agree they might be able to convince her, but Daniel doesn't think she'll want to.  Daniel's bothered by this and he finds it odd that Valtierra has disappeared, as have Miriam's records.  Daniel says he just has a feeling something is wrong.

Agustina is having trouble adjusting to prison life.  She's losing her sense of hope.  She wishes she could go back and fix things, but her cellmate reminds her what's done is done.

Dio gets done making his purchase and calls Isadora to tell her not to be late to the meeting with Estevez.  Isa says Buenaventura won't be a problem, but he'd better come through with La Malquerida.  Dio tells her to kill the old guy on Saturday so he can be buried on Sunday and the ranch can be hers on Monday.  Dio brags that while Isa is killing Cayetano, Camila will be giving him what he, ahem, most desires.  Isadora knows exactly what he's talking about and she's plotting revenge on him for not "valuing" her as a "woman."

Dorotea begs the Virgen to take care of her friend.  Eleuterio wonders what that's about, but Dorotea doesn't tell him.  She asks him if he'd still love her even if she were sick.  "No, it's not me, I just mean if I had something like cancer, would you still love me?"  Eleuterio says he's in this for better or worse, and he doesn't like her worrying, so he'd rather she prayed to the Virgen to get those thoughts out of her head.  While he's at it, he gets a smooch in.

The mammogram tech gives Piedad a pamphlet about breast self-exams.

Daniel plans to talk Miriam into re-taking the exams.  He doesn't trust Dr. Valtierra.  Dante doesn't think he'll be able to convince her into taking the exams again or postponing the trip.  Daniel forgoes yet another goodbye with Camila, since she's with Vivi.

Vivi tells Camila that she's there because Daniel called her.  Camila complains about how hard it is to keep her hands off him.  Vivi gets all pouty about goodbyes and having to be away from someone you love.  She explains that Roman has to stay at the orphanage for now.  There's some kind of joke here about Camila not wanting Vivi to get all..."achicopalada" would be the word..."bummed out," but it sounds like they both jokingly mispronounce it.  It is quite a mouthful.  Vivi says it hurts so much she understands a little bit of what Daniel and Camila are going through.

Piedad gets her mammogram.

Camila tells Vivi that every two hours in Mexico a woman dies of breast cancer.  She says the incredible thing is it can be prevented with self exams.  She thinks she needs to talk to all the women who work  at La Malquerida and teach them about self-exams.  The tech walks Piedad out to the waiting room and tells her that she needs to come back on Monday, when the doctor will have the test results.  Vivi tells Piedad she won't tell anyone, but she wanted to be there to support her.

Daniel goes over to Amanda's and it seems like he's saying goodbye.  He tells Natalia she can always count on him and she should think of him as a big brother.  Amanda says she thinks of him as a son.  Natalia gets weepy, saying she'll never forget him.  "But I'm not leaving yet!  I'm leaving on Sunday and I'll see you tomorrow at your wedding."  Natalia blames her tears on baby hormones.

Luzma has been waiting for Camila and Piedad to get back…with a suitcase?  Camila and Piedad come in and Camila says they were just running errands.  Hipolito is pissed they didn't tell him so he could drive them.  Camila tells him to chill.  Luzma says she has the suitcase so she can spend the night with Natalia and help her get dressed.  Rodolfo comes in and says it's time to go.  Luzma asks for her mom's blessing.  Hipolito will go with them and get dropped off in the square.  Camila tells them both to be careful.  Once everyone else leaves, Dorotea asks how it went at the doctor.  She'll keep praying until they get some answers.  Mariano is there to pick up Camila.  Piedad says she'll light a candle.

Casa Dionisio has been turned into party central.  Natalia goes to answer the door and everyone squeals as if they're expecting a stripper.  Omar has escorted Dorotea, Luzma, and Rodolfo in and is pissed that Rodolfo is there and that he's armed.  Natalia says it's to protect them from Leoncio and he's just dropping them off.  Omar backs down and Natalia ushers the ladies in.

Miriam plays with Agatha while Daniel stews about not being able to do anything.

The ladies play pin the kiss on the bachelor.  Omar comes in to tell Natalia that there's someone there with flowers for her, but he won't leave them.  "Oh, Yago must have sent them!"  She goes to the door, where Hipolito is hidden behind a basket of flowers.  His disembodied voice floats up, announcing that they're for Miss Natalia Gutierrez.  Natalia bluffs her way past Omar with a fake-moustache-sporting Hipolito.

Camila, Mariano, and Osvaldo all wait anxiously.

Natalia ushers Hiploito into the office and Luzma comes in to help them search.  Natalia finds it, but Luzma asks how the hell he's going to get it past the guards.  Hipolito has them shove it under his jacket, which is not convincing at all.  Natalia says she'll go distract Omar.  A big square Hipolito shuffles out of the room after turning off the light.

A big square Hipolito gets dropped off at a warehouse, followed by two of Dio's goons.  The goons get the order to come back to the house.  Hipolito hands the briefcase off to Rodolfo and they pay off the real florist, I presume, who tells them to go out the back way.

The briefcase makes it into Osvaldo's office and Camila tries the combination Agustina overheard, but it doesn't seem to be working.  Mariano blames it on her nerves and insists on doing it.  He fails as well.  Hipolito jimmies the lock with his knife and everyone stares at whateverthehell is in the mystery briefcase.

Tomorrow: Dio tortures Agustina with the knowledge that when she gets free it's because he has had both La Malquerida and Camila; Agustina tries to keep Camila from sacrificing herself.

Comments:
No, pues...speaking of reminders, it's probably a good idea to have one for BSE's too.

Mr. 5ft's guess is the briefcase is filled with women's underwear. Seriously, whose big important secret-hiding briefcase is that easy to break into? Get a safety deposit box, Dio!

Tomorrow is Caramelpalooza and I actually got done far earlier than I expected with getting everything ready. That's a good thing, cause if I'd been recapping this at 1am, I wouldn't have been nearly as patient. Seriously...what gives?! Every Thursday night for a while now, it's all talk and no action!

Good work, Kat.

Next week's should be full of action; you are getting the penultimate episode!

If Luzma were to leave with Aaron for Chiapas that would make loads of sense because she needs to not be anywhere Leoncerdo can find her. At least until someone puts him out of her misery.

Ever since the issue of El Diablo's obsession with Camila became front and center I have been wondering whether he intended to keep Hissadora in his life. Regardless of the answer to that question, it looks to me like she intends to kill him if he doesn't have a stroke over how she intends to screw him over in the deal with Estevez.

I'm thinking that the briefcase is empty and I also don't think it's the same one.

Dear 5 ft. -- Thanks so much for recapping this busy episode and good luck tomorrow. I will be thinking about "big, square Hipolito" all day. Good line about my fave.

Yes, UA, I think, too that Luzma is going with Aaron and Nati to Chiapas.

I loved Aaron's line about coming to town with one brother and leaving with two. Daniel needed that. He defines miserable right now. Beat up, black and blue, on the margins, uninformed about Dante's love life (!), obviously being jerked around by at least one doctor, and one and on. I really liked the line where he reversed course about the briefcase that "we" I mean "you" need so much when talking to Camila. So hard to stay on the margins when you are Daniel.

My favorite scene, however, was at the end with the opening of the probably empty (though I love Mr. 5 ft.'s theory) briefcase. Camila's frustration with all was just perfect and exactly how someone might well react in real life.

On to ending episodes.

Kat- Great work! Now, get busy on that candy. I’m sure since you’ll have the first hour of what was a 2 hour finale next week that you’ll get lots of exciting happenings. The end of this epi was exciting though, and you got mustachioed “square Hipolito.” LOL! Loved that whole caper scene.

ITA. The briefcase is likely empty, based on everyone’s reactions. What are they going to do now? The timeline is winding down quickly now, and Cami is supposed to turn over her ranch and her body the next day.

I guess I'm old school. When Teresa had her aha moment about being late when she looked at her calendar, I thought, finally a tn character realizes she’s pregnant in the same way I would. Yes, I still keep track of my start dates on a paper calendar, where that’s the only thing I keep track of, as I have since I was 11. And when I am a day or two early or late, I always go and look at that calendar and count. Never thought about moving it to any of my electronic devices. I have never understood all these tn characters (and real life instances), who don’t realize they are pregnant until WEEKS later when they start feeling the changes physically—either nausea or the dreaded fainting.

In any case, since he’s really into her and his biological clock is ticking too, I don’t think Teresa has to worry about Dante’s reaction to the baby news.

Vivi -- LOL I hadn't thought about how realistic Teresa's means of discovery was. It just seemed so much in character that she should have not one but two notebooks keeping track of her life. I thought she saw something in her work agenda that triggered the need to run to the hostal and check another calendar she kept in the drawer. So Teresa.

I have saved most of the little leather agendas I have had over the years, noting cycles and happenings of so many kinds. I hated going electronic and felt such kinship with Teresa's big, thick, busy calendars. I never needed all that space, just loved the feel of the notebook.

What I don't understand is the failure to take precautions. I realize that many of today's series are remakes of earlier ones from the days before The Pill, but if writers can make updates like DNA testing why are they ignoring this when birth control is not only available in Mexico but often it's free?

Urban- It seems that Teresa's love/sex life has been such that she has not needed to use any contraception method. (Her brother probably got more action.) And since she had trouble even remembering how they got into bed together, she and Dante were clearly drunk enough to not think about a condom. Not a good lesson for the audience, but I'm happy for these two anyway.

Telenovelas thrive on unexpected life changing events, and pregnancy is one of those main events. If all tn women were on the pill, we'd never get that storyline. :) I do wish they would speak more about birth control. They give so many other PSAs, especially ones targeted to women. At least Camila's not pregnant!

AB Pregnancy Count:
1) Dan and Miriam- Wanted/planned (tried for 3 years to get pregnant); within marriage
2) Luzma- Unwanted; result of rape
3) Natalia and Yago- Unplanned; unwanted at first (still unwanted by Yago); outside or marriage; impetus for planned marriage
4) Teresa and Dante- Unplanned but wanted; outside of marriage; result of one-night-stand

Vivi - I can imagine an ending, seis meses despues, with more pregnancies, wanted and within relationships. One of my favorite things about Destilando Amor was the ending with all of Gaviota's and Rodrigo's beautiful little children appearing several years later and other children here and there (including novela Vivi's character, Dani, and her new little one with her husband, Elvis his name I think).

Traveling Lady- I would love that. CME had that kind of ending too. A few years later with all the kids of the protagonists and kids of all their friends and family, and all the happy grandparents. It was a great ending. Abismo tried to do that too, but it sort of fell flat, IMO.

True, Vivi. Finally we have a heroine who isn't caught by this (I do not regard Teresa as a heroine).

Traveling Lady, I don't like epilogues. I've been sour on those ever since the one for Aurora, which ended on a very creepy note.

On another note, it got to me last night that Yolanda Ventura (Piedad) was in one of the first novelas I ever saw 20 years ago. It's a little disconcerting to see her first as an orphan who becomes a servant and later to still see her as a servant with an almost-adult daughter of the same age as the first character.

Great recap, Kat. And as others have pointed out, you get the penultimate episode next Thursday. That one is bound to be exciting. This one, not so much, though I did enjoy the bachelorette party and the attempts to by-pass Omar the Vigilant. I was especially nervous when Hipolito was followed after he left with his pregnancy--oops, I mean briefcase.

I enjoyed your comment about hoping Teresa bought the pregnancy test "about five towns over." And I'm most grateful that you spared us Dio's thought bubble when he was buying sexy negligee for Camila.

Vivi, I loved your remark about Teresa's sparse love life: "(Her brother probably got more action.)"

UA, I too think that the briefcase is probably empty or filled with trivia, and that it's not the same one we saw earlier. What I don't know is whether Dio took pains to hide the important one (or took it with him) and put the other briefcase there "just in case," or whether the searchers simply stopped looking too soon. My guess is that he put the decoy there on purpose.

I wonder when Dio will visit Agustina--will it be before his scheduled "meeting" with Camila? If so, I am coming back to the possibility that others mentioned yesterday or the day before, namely, that she commits suicide to prevent Camila from giving in to Dio's blackmail. Yes, Agustina is a pretty devout Catholic, but even so, all the examples she has heard about lately of mothers who have made extreme sacrifices on behalf of their children seem to point in the direction of her making one, too. And what other sacrifice could she make?

Gracias 5ft

Is it my imagination or is Pablo taller? It could be that I just think he is such a (big man). Eddy Villard is only 24, how long do men keep growing?

I was so afraid that Dio would take the briefcase with him, but I think since Omar is there, no reason to worry, so I don't think it's empty. That look on Camila's face was not one of, !it's empty!. It must be more than passports, probably the pension papers & some other surprise. Oh, how about the tourist dev papers, it's a big briefcase. Loved the caper, the guys really pulled it off.

I bet Luzma is going with Nat & Aaron. Good, at least she'll be safe until Leo is caught. I don't like to insult pigs. Does Jose Elias Moreno play anything other than disgusting scum? He was equally horrible in Pasión. He needs a google.

Who is going to break the news at the wedding that Nat left Yago plantado?

Teresa wanted to get pregnant, if she didn't get married she would look for a sperm donor. So she wouldn't use birth control.

But now that I've been thinking about it, if the briefcase has what they are looking for, why would Camila have to se acostó with Dio unless she plans to confront him.

UA -- Yolanda Ventura was the wonderful, feisty, spunky, wild Azucena in the CS with EP. What a great start! A very important role. She has plenty of air time in this but I would love to see her in a more prominent role and not a servant. I wonder if she has had protagonista roles recently.

I did like it that she called Vivi by name last night and not Senora Vivi. It was hard for her to move to calling Camila by name and can't swear that she has kept it up.

Variopinta, if the briefcase has what they are looking for Camila will not have to play Tosca after the wedding. They can have El Diablo arrested at the reception and she can confront him from the other side of the bars to his cage.

However, there are too many episodes left for that to be realistic.

Here's a legal question: Can a person be charged with murder in Mexico if s/he drives a person to suicide? If El Diablo tells Augustina of his plans tonight -- and we know he is sadistic enough to do that -- and she kills herself, can he be charged with her murder?

To an earlier question, I don't know if she can refuse to see him.

Kat thanks for the recap. Sorry it was all talk but next week should be much better.

Cam looked frustrated w/whatever was in the briefcase and as UA said, I too think its too early for the good guys to get that info.

OK I know I'm over thinking this but since I'm thinking the briefcase was a bust, I started thinking Dio also might know about Nat's wedding plan. He might hurt her, Amanda, Osvaldo, or Aaron. I hope Dio doesn't have a clue & is too deluded w/his Cam fantasy but ....

What may be an obvious question: doesn't Dionicio have the entrance to his despacho under surveillance? Remember he caught Aggie snooping around. They had an awful lot of shots of Luzma, Nati, and Square Hipo (love it!) making somewhat obvious IMO that these are exactly what Dio would see. He warned Cami against any further shenanigans. How will he up the ante now? Will he want the whole weekend?

Oh! Great job as always 5 ft. Love your recaps.

Paquita

Paquita- Yep. Dion has his cameras keeping watch on his office door. But it doesn't seem like he checks the tapes all the time. Let's hope he's too busy with his Camila delusions to check his surveillance videos. Luzma really doesn’t need another enemy right now. Although it would surely be Camila who he would pressure. Yet more people that she loves in the line of fire!

I don't think anyone knows about the surveillance camera except Omar. Since El Diablo found out that Augustina knew about the fake passports it would have been ridiculously stupid for him to not hide them in some neutral secure location like a bank's safe deposit box.

He probably assumed that Augustina told Camila about the fake passports and the briefcase and took the precaution of removing the real briefcase and the passports. Upping the ante beyond Daniel can lead to the following becoming murder victims:

-- Maja
-- Viviana
-- Luzma
-- Piedad
-- Rafael
-- Ana*
-- Mariano*

Omar might draw the line at torturing a dog or a child but the adults on this list wouldn't be safe.

*Hissadora probably has them on her death list just in case.

Oops; forgot Pablo.

Thanks 5 ft, great job. I have to say that I was a bit confused at first as to what Teresa was doing when she looked at her planner and left abruptly, but figured it out soon after. But for me, it was a weird moment. I'm almost done with my period, so for me to keep track of it has always been paper at home. But I usually didn't need that because, come on, we all know around the time when it should be coming. So to act like you're totally in the dark about the timing and then be shocked that it's past time long enough that you need to take a pregnancy test was way too unbelievable for me.

Another beanie moment was the flower delivery, how Hipolito held the flowers in front of his face was so suspicious looking that Omar should have been alarmed. And then the briefcase inside the jacket was also completely obvious.

They wouldn't have looked surprised if the briefcase contained the passports, so I agree that they aren't there. Maybe a note that says Gotcha was left in their place.

Just thought of sth else about the briefcase, they couldn't open it with the code that Aggie gave Osvaldo, so it probably is not (the briefcase).

5ft – Thanks a bunch.

I’ve always liked Dante, but he looked especially fine in those jeans last night. ITA that he’ll be as happy as Teresa about the baby.

I too think the briefcase is a bust. From the look on Camila’s face, I’m wondering if Dio deliberately put something in it to let them know he was wise to their plan.

To me Gussie looks better in the smooth beige prison uniform than she did in some of her frumpy lavendar.

I thought that when Luzma and Rodolfo were talking and Rodolfo asks if Natalia was really happy marrying Yago, that instead of Luzma saying ' he'll be happy with the decision that Natalia is making.' That Luzma said that Natalia will be happy with the decision she's making. There's a difference there.

UA, I don't think Dio would put his passports in a location he couldn't access immediately 24/7. After all, one reason to have all those passports and the like is to be able to leave at a moment's notice and establish yourself elsewhere under a different name (and perhaps in a different country). A bank safe deposit vault wouldn't meet those needs.

Cathyx, I too thought that Luzma told Rodolfo that he's be pleased with the decision that Natalia is going to be happy with the decision that she made.

Arrgh, I can never type correctly in this box. What I meant to say, Cathyx, is that Luzma told Rodolfo that Natalia will be happy with the decision she has made.

Cathyx, one more thing: I loved your suggestion that perhaps Dio left a Gotcha note in the briefcase.

Jose Elias Moreno played the somewhat gentle grandfather in Nina de Mi Corazon. He doesn't only get to be scum, his endings as a villain are as gross as scum and in NDMC He gets run over by Lisette Morelos.

You are correct, it's Natalia who will be happy with the decision she made, per Luzma. I blame the obnoxious music being turned up right at that moment!

Gracias a todos for the comments and the well-wishes. Con que nothing melts today and I look good in all the pictures, me basta y me sobra :D

I think Mr. 5ft was making an "Oscar" reference...there were 3 suitcases in that movie, one with cash, one with jewels, and one with women's underwear, and they all kept getting switched around the entire time.

While I'm still hoping the briefcase has something valuable, I'm sure that "special night" Dionisio is looking forward to will take place as scheduled. (Although we all know he will not have his way with Camila.) It's been built up too much, even without the negligee he just bought her. My money's on this somehow being the climax of the plot when everything not already resolved by whatever Natalia is planning for her wedding is resolved.

I'm enjoying Agustina making friends in prison. One of my sisters spent a few weeks in a Peruvian prison several years ago (accused of money laundering for a drug kingpin), and she made friends too. After she got out, she and her mother organized a children's clothing drive among their friends and brought them to the prison for "la terrorista" (one of my sister's new friends) to distribute among "las mulas," poor unfortunate drug couriers who had babies in jail. Maybe Agustina can do something useful like that. (Unless she ends up dying as she sacrifices herself for Camila. And then Camila turns up at Dionisio's house ready to take revenge... No, I guess a clothing drive is out of the question.)

Kat: Hopefully the candymaking went fine! Thanks for these chuckleworthy gems.

"Daniel might be sad, but since his face is one giant bruise, it's hard to tell."

Sure enough, she's having Dante's baybay. (eggssellent!) LOL!

"Dionisio goes shopping for lingerie for Camila. BARF! I'll spare you the thought bubble." (THANKS!)

=============

ViviDC: "Teresa's love/sex life has been such that she has not needed to use any contraception method. (Her brother probably got more action.)" It's a good thing I wasn't sipping on something when I read this! ROTFLOL!
============

Variopinta: "they couldn't open it with the code that Aggie gave Osvaldo, so it probably is not (the briefcase) Those were my thoughts exactly!

Thanks Kat for the terrific, humorous way you recap.

After reading the consensus of opinion from viewerville abour where the tn is headed, I realize that I am really a newbie at predicting outcomes . For example, I don’t see the purpose of the suitcase being empty at this late date unless Dio suspected that Nat was setting him up. If it's true that the suitcase is empty and he somehow forces Gussy to commit suicide, how will he be stopped? I’m beyond sick and tired of him.

5ft: Thank you for the great recap!

I'm sure we're going to get an epilogue. I don't believe the final scene is going to be of Camila and Daniel with his guapo face all smashed up.

Kill Caye on Saturday, bury him on Sunday and inherit on Monday. Things move REALLY quickly in Mexico. Wouldn't there be an investigation, possibly an autopsy, don’t they have probate? TN laws override these, right?

OK, I’m in love with ALL the LMQ vaqueros.

My guess, Luz is leaving with Nat and Aaron.

SN played annoyance well, when Mariano took the briefcase to try and open it.

On to the recap and other comments. So much to look forward to.

Nanette

About the bachelorette party:

Great casting on the guests--real young women with real faces and real shapes. But so many of them? I guess we're to assume that Natalia and Luzma and Irena invited absolutely every young woman they've ever heard of and told each of them to bring all her female relatives? I guess it makes sense in order to create enough noise and confusion for them to manage an extremely loud and klutzy search of Dionisio's study.

Hipolita with the flowers in front of his face was a silly touch, when otherwise the scheme comes close to making sense. (And throughout this entire show has Omar ever done anything as stupid as not insisting on seeing the face of a man hiding behind a basket of flowers?) Did I miss how he actually left the house? Or why the henchmen were following him rather than seizing him and retrieving what he obviously had beneath his jacket?

I agree that Dio needs his passports handy for a quick getaway. He would also need cash & he wouldn't want to deposit in the bank because it could be traced. So maybe the suitcase is full of money.

Maybe, fingers crossed, the jail tapes the visit, when he shows up to torment pobre Aggie.

Ignore my previous question. (I shouldn't start posting until I've watching all the way to the end.) It was obviously a set-up. That's why Omar let Hipolito in, that's why Hipolita got out without trouble, that's why the henchmen were only following him.

Lol @ UtahDesert...yeah, tighten that beanie :D We can always pretend Omar screwed up like this on purpose so he can watch his boss get taken down and take over the operation :p

Aleta, no, I too do not think that the final scene will show Dan with his guapo face all banged up, but not because they'll have to resort to an epilogue. Rather, it's thanks to telenovela medicine, which performs miraculous cures. (Rocio's speedy recovery from her stroke is perhaps one example.)

Telenovela medicine is second only to telenovela airlines in terms of speed. In the TN "El Clon," for example, characters would routinely (and at a moment's notice) fly back and forth between the US and Morocco, with never a hint of jet lag. Indeed, I don't recall ever seeing a passport.

So given the fact that Dan and Cam have more than a day to solve all the problems, punish the bad guys, and live happily ever after, his face will surely be fine. :-)

Kat: Thanks for the great recap and Mr. 5ft’s input.

UA: that was me re: Agustina being able to refuse visitors. I don’t see why she would have to see anyone, unless it was a government official involved in her case.

Kind of stupid of the Scoobies to think that Dio would leave such a valuable item in a house that would be filled with strangers.

I was surprised at the outfit Teresa saw fit to wear in front of her brother who also happens to be a priest.

Nanette: I think Teresa has been wearing the leftovers from Ximena's wardrobe.

Nanette, I think that if Dan were still in charge of the Scoobies or if they had let him in on their plan, he would not have approved of it. He would have realized that Dion would not have left his briefcase in the house with all those people there.

Will Dan delay his trip for more tests? I think so.

Cathyx: Agree, they really need Dan. For all his headlong rushing in in regards to Cam, he's usually pretty cool headed about the Scoobies' mission in general.

I don't think Miriam will want to stay for more tests. How will Dan convince her? Use Agatha?

Aleta: I swear Teresa almost popped out of that top.

UtahDesert- I like that scenario for Augustina. If she does sacrifice herself (and the talk seems to be going that way), I hope she's as good at that as everything else in her life. That is to say, she fails. Then she can help the women in prison since they are better friends to her than any of her upper crust society gals.

Kelly

UtahDesert- What an experience your sister had! She could have her own telenovela.

Aleta- Flaunting boobs was never really a Ximena thing. She was all about the thighs (accentuated by those high boots) and the booty. Teresa has her own sexy look going on.

Thanks Kat, very well done. Thanks as well to UA, Mena, and Paquita for your great recaps this week. I haven't had much to say as we watch events unfold in these last episodes.

However, I thought I'd offer my thoughts about Piedad and her breast lump. It seemed rather presumptuous and maternalistic to me for Camila to set up an appointment for Piedad without consulting her first. She is a grown woman perfectly capable of making decisions.

Carlos

We've got to wrap this thing up Carlos. No time to dilly dally with 10 episodes of Piedad wondering if she should go to the doctor to get checked. We have enough of that with Miriam! LOL! Televisa got to check their breast cancer awareness month storyline box, and we all get to move on (hopefully). As you would say, next! :)

Vivi,

OK

Carlos

Carlos- Is that anvil meant for Dio, Isa, or Leo? Or will it somehow take out all three in one fell swoop?

Mr. and Mrs. 5ft Latina Kat-- thank you very much for your collaborations. Good luck tomorrow and buena suerte next Thursday with getting a little action!

I liked the way you led into each WTH as confused as we were. Aurelio's room looked exactly like the ones at LMQ and his name is so close to Euleuterio--they could have called him Pancho. (To look at him, he could be my ranchhand any day).

The description of Big Square Hipolito was the best line of the night.

Grumpy Daniel. Who would have assoicated that with him. Bro Dante was holding out on him.

Vivi--Have we forgotten Dr. Tatas in CME so soon? She also checked her calendar, and checked it twice just to be sure and low and behold, she was more than a bit late.

5Ft--Here's another backing-you-up person. I also kept very close track because I never wanted to have a surprise visitor while traveling, away for a weekend at the beach, etc. etc. Only got surprised once, in NYC, of all places, on the way home by train, late at night, and the one and only *kleenex* shop in Penn Station was just closing its doors. I begged through the closed glass door to the young man behind it and he relented--whew!

About the briefcase. If it is empty, it will have a note at the bottom in Dio's handwriting to the effect, *Fooled Ya, See you Sat night.* His creepiness is waxing (if it could get any worse).

Anita- That's right! But I try to block Dr. Tatas out of my mind. I just remember her weeping all the time and being pathetic. Thank goodness Teresa never got pathetic. A bit obsessed and bitchy, but not pathetic. And she gets a WAY better ending than Dr. Tatas-- a baby AND a hot man.

Cathyx--Looks like we had the same idea about the contents of the briefcase. I hadn't finished reading all the comments.

ITA that Dio would be stupid to leave the incriminating information in said briefcase. But why a briefcase at all? He should have a home safe or strong box. No bank safety deposit box because he knows he'd be filmed going in and coming out.

Juanita--Sorry, I stepped on your toes, too with the bank safety deposit box. We're so clever by far than the writers some times it scares me.

A briefcase because if he really has to leave in a hurry he can just grab it and run - won't have to take the time to open a safe, transfer the documents, etc.

Thank you for all this week's recap - Urban, Paquita, Mena, 5ft and Jardinera; what a ride!

@Vivi, a few months ago during Cam's wedding, you asked if there were any more cameo appearances by production; I didn't want to spoil it then, but I hope that last night you spotted Carlos Moreno at the hospital asking Dan for direction.

@Cathyx asked: "Will Dan delay his trip for more tests?" A better question would be "would Miriam find out about Dan-n-Cam? or would Dan find out if Miriam is healthly as a horse" -- any of those things happening will put the "not on this lifetime" on the trip to Chile.

Renata- Yes! I noticed producer Carlos Moreno last night. The guy who asked Dan and Dante for the bathroom, right? CdlF had a hard time keeping a straight face, and I wondered how many times they had to film it. :)

Oh, thanks for clearing that up about the man in the hallway--I wondered about that and I never would have guessed!

Vivi in DC, that's why I watch telenovelas (besides improving my Spanish), in order to get insight on the Peruvian side of my family. They could provide the storylines for at least two TNs.

Dio been keeping important documents and money in his briefcase for years. (Remember thats how Amanda initially found out about the passports). He might have more than 1 briefcase, one for money and one for important docs. So, even if the passports arent there, what are the chances of it being filled with money? I know, I know, I'm even asking myself what would that prove other than the fact that I can never figure these things out :-)

I was wondering about the directions man too! It was a weird little interlude, like maybe someone was actually lost and didn't realize he'd wandered onto a set. So this is the producer we can thank for this show?

At least we know there are plenty of girls around for all the good looking cowboys. I was worried about them for the lack of available women in this town.

kelly

Fantastic recap. Count me in as one who uses my little leather binder to keep track. The Teresa moment was very realistic to me.

Can Mir go to the medicine cabinet for her fem products tonight and find the photo please?

I can't wait until tomorrow, folks:

THAT MAN NEEDS TO BE SQUASHED LIKE THE COCKROACH HE IS.

No te preocupes... el final esta cerca.
