PEAM #29-The Ice Princess is Melting, Please Speak into the Microphone and Its Not Funny!
Labels: Manda
I'm still behind in watching PEAM so forgive me if I am redundant. What's up with the Discua's winks. I take back Discua being a motivation for me, now that I have clearly seen the green dress and not just a shot, I do not want those kind of implants. It was not looking natural. The receptionist/secretary also seemed to have been implanted. I'll keep working the old fashion way and exercise.- wink!
Poor innocent virginal Discua told us last night that the wink is a tic she's had since childhood and she can't do anything about it. Wink!
From where I am standing, I saw Xóchi-TL acting more like the siren of an ambulance!! But anyway, then there was more nonsense, like when Pati told Alma:
wink!
-Since Jesús is gone you have completely forgotten him! THEY HAVE NOT SEEN EACH OTHER FOR 4 HOURS! Last night they were all together at the Hospital and today, from 8am til noon, is the only time they have not seen each other... and they say I exaggerate!
Then they make a joke for the second time (a joke that make translators give birth prickly pears, as we say: parir chayotes) about the Bodega (warehouse) and the bodeguitos. Bodega sounds like ''borrega'' (lamb). Not funny and worse than that, not translatable!
No one can blame Jesús for snitching Ury, he only did what he had, claim his innocence. After all, Ury WAS THE ONE WHO GAVE HIM THE SUITCASE (and the one who was dumb enough to wait and get caught).
Then SuperJesus start righting wrongs and keeping promises, because he has to set the example.
All vehicles have all the time while driving around all the lights on!! Really? I thought you only did that when trying to read a map or something!
Did Cabrónica went all the way to Avon (when she could have used her neon green phone) just to ask where was Jesús now??
wink!
Google earth: 43 Independence Av. (of course is made up)
wink!
Vocabulary:
No me peles- Don't mind me
Apapachar- Hug, more on the spoil side
Ladronde lo conseguiste- from Ladrón (thief) and donde (where) implying where did you steal it from?
Andar bruja- Not having any money.
wink!
Side note: I have been checking the BIngo Telenovelas desquiciadas cards and noticed that you have fake pregnancy, falling down stairs, protagonist singing, etc. and I would like to participate with some ideas.
wink!
Do you have a card for ''secrets being heard through doors or walls''?
''Fake illness'' This one could seem like blackmail, but sometimes characters pretend for other reasons.
Falling downstairs pregnant? This could be either accidentally or by accidental push by another person, oops!
Character singing her own theme? Rebeca did it in PESE (Malquerida) and now Ninel does it too...
That, that, that's all folks!
Thanks for the vocabulary - I've wondered how "andar bruja" means "no money." What's the connection to "going witchy" (which is what it sounds like it means)? Or is there a connection?
I forgot to set the VCR before going out with my hubby so I only caught the last 15 minutes. SO... your very complete recap is a bonus. I am grateful.

Many english words have permeated to the spanish lexicon through time, like car (carro), wagon (guayín), kangaroo (canguro), etc-
Do you think bruja could have been the way we interpreted the word ''broke''?
I agree about Xochy being annoying to the point of trying Jesus 's patience...and Jesus is a patient man.
I loved the meeting inAlma's office where Jesus repaid Alma. Pattymelt's expressions were priceless. That actress is very entertaining in this role! Gertie
Heh. I hadn't thought to trace it back to English!
You may have heard it already from the movie FRIDA or with Lila Downs, but this is for me, the most authentic represntation. Enjoy!

Thank you for this marvelous recap. I agree with you about Xochi being a wool collar.
It looks like Gilberto and Discua are now going to La Fontaine along with Maricela and Ricardo. This should be fun.
I like the Police detective here, she is one smart cookie, and she was great asking for that lighter, which coinkiny dinky Fern didn't have. She just knows he is lying.
I liked the Brothers Dimm fighting. Even Rogue accused Fern of not having the same DNA. Also when they were arguing about the cigars in the office, Rogue accused him of ordering porn movies and Fern, after Rog left, said why when I can get them on the internet free! I was laughing so hard about that.
I liked that Valentina called Alma, and she is an old soul. I am liking Vero like this now. She is better sad than screechy. I hope she loses the screech and continues to be nice to Valentina like she is now.
That kiss that Xochi gave Chucho was funny, and the look on his face.
I also noticed the faces of Alma and Patymelt when they thought that Xochi is Chucho's girlfriend. They looked a bit jealous.
Also noticed Chucho scratching his hands when he was talking to the Sillies. His poor hands must be chapped from doing all those dishes, he kept scratching them as he was telling them to pay up, lol.
Ladies stop with the implant hate....If these actresses choose to alter their bodies to earn a paycheck, so beit. When they get to 50 or 60 years old, or maybe sooner, they will regret their decision.
Of all the babes on here, Jessy, and maybe Vero are the only all natural.

Loved the comparison of Xochi to an itchy wool collar. Hope the director allows her to dial back her performance a little bit as time goes on. She's a far better actress than this part is allowing her to show.
Pablo, thanks as always for those expressions. Love "ladronde lo consequiste".
Pablo- All tns use magical realism when it comes to time passing, but I think this one uses it more so than others! It may seem to us like Chucho and Alma have only been separated for a few hours, but for them it's like days have passed. When Don Max came to greet Chucho at work, he said it's been a week since he smoked his last cigarette/since his heart attack. But I'm pretty sure in the accurate timeline you're keeping, a week has not passed based on the events we've seen.
Thanks for the vocab and saying list. Apapachar has always been one of my favorite Spanish words. :)
Valentina took Alma's advice to apapachar her mom to get her in a better mood, and it worked. Now, if only Vero would put aside her own screwed up feelings for her two baby-daddies, and do what's best for Val and let her spend time with her two dads, without her interference.
The sexcretary at the front desk is named Yvonne. I noticed because it's so close to Avon. "Hello, you've reached Avon, Yvonne speaking."
Can be endearing at times, but I agree Xochi drove me batty last night. That squeal was so...just embarrassing for a woman her age. Heck, Val acts more mature bless her. And Alma and Pati think she's Chucho's girlfriend...where's my beanie??? The secretary at Orion is smitten now too. Let's see who we can match her up with shall we??
Vivi, 100% agreement on Vero assessment. You want to grab her and say, Look, you have a daughter! When she was born the world stopped revolving around you. Live with it.
I like the special agent. For once we don't have a bungling or clueless enforcement officer in a comedy TN. She certainly has Fern's number.
With all the darkness and sadness coming out of Boston and Texas, I cheered up with a call from one of my college twins last night ( the one graduating in three weeks)--he got the offer he was wanting for his "big boy adult job" as he calls it. And off today to my other son's school to see his Senior performance recital tomorrow. Hug your friends and family everyone and have a great weekend. Will check in later!!
Daisynjay
(google acting up so can't use that sign in--Argh!!)
My favorites from last night were: Jesús standing up to the two new sillies as they tried to boss her around with their special lunch requests; Jesús collecting his owed money from the old sillies. It is always good to see him taking action and not just bering buffeted around by circumstance.
Pablo, "parir chayotes:; what an intersting expression!
Jarifa
I should have written "Jesús standing up to the two new sillies as they tried to boss the Orion secretary around." Yes, I know how to spell "interesting." :)
Jarifa
So, think of it next time you are in a very difficult situation!
Pic and info:http://swearindf.blogspot.com/2008/12/parir-chayotes.html
''san serro'' doesn't ring a bell here...
Jarifa
Yes, I too think that is the word that Go Blue Fan was hearing. I like when they shorten it to Lic.
And to think that Discua can't even control her textbook-perfect winking. I tell you, the things that poor woman has to deal with.
Of course Vero had to go to Avon in person to ask where to find Chulo...her real aim was to check out this "Xochi" she's heard about who is apparently his novia. And she was not impressed!I myself liked Xochi much better before she turned into a leech. For an insecure young lady, she sure is forward!
I like Delia. Nice addition to Chucho's good people team.
Delia may not be able to do anything about the tic, but has she ever considered that her breathy way of talking and the way she constantly slithers and slinks may be compounding the "misunderstandings"?
The tic, being uncontrollable, should be something you do unexpectedly, right? Not at the end of every sentence!!
I thought about making more bingo cards at one time, but then never got around to doing it. Does anyone have more suggestions of things to put on them? I know we talked about it before and I made a list, but now I don't know where it is.
I have been checking the BIngo Telenovelas desquiciadas cards and noticed that you have fake pregnancy, falling down stairs, protagonist singing, etc. and I would like to participate with some ideas.
wink!

Thanks.
Nanette
Loved the recap.
Nanette--shame on you!!!!!! We'd only be gladdening the hearts of liquor store owners everywhere.
I'm afraid Xoxi's squealing has already gottn old for me. Jesus is not very far behind, either. If you want to see her in a non-squealing role, check out Amor Real and Fuerza del Destino. She's very versatile, that's all I can say.
Pablo, your comments are always great. Education sprinkled with lots of laughs. I will definitely get to your links. I'm curious about andar bruja now.
Maybe we should just post them in CarayCaray as a separate entry and tag them, at least for the current tns.
We often think that all words and phrases in English and Spanish either come from other Romance languages, or European languages (or Yiddish), or the languages of the people who were already in the Americas when the Europeans got here. For some reason we forget the African influence on our American languages. In Jamaica we have a ton of West African words in everyday use. I remember finally looking up where the word we use for "to eat" (nyam) came from, only to find it means..."to eat", originating from West Africa. And not only that, but the various words for yam in different languages all come from that word. When the Europeans went to Africa and encountered yam for the first time, they asked what it was. The Africans told them you eat it, and thus the misunderstanding, and the most common words for yam across the world was formed.
