PEAM #34- The Episode Where The Children Act Like Adults and the Adults Act Like Children, Except in the Basement!

As we begin the only garbage truck in Monterrey, Panfilio’s truck is headed straight towards Ferny, and misses hitting Ferny and knocking some sense into him. Dag!!!
Panfilio gives Ferny a piece of his mind, Ferny runs out to look for the “garbage” bags of money.  He found them!!!  Panfilio lets him know that possession is 9/10 of the law.  He bribes the workers and they put the money into his trunk and then he gives them a handshake and no money. - Jerk!!!   He proceeds to do a stiff- Idiot version of a Happy Dance!!  Fern meets up with the other two stooges- Malvino and Silverio.  Fern calls them useless.  (The pot calling the kettle-in other words -el burro hablando de orejas)  Malvino tells him that he stinks.  Fern also tells Malvino that Jesus recognized him.  Fern was questioned by the Federal police.   Fern smells himself. - Phew.

Fern’s phone rings and Rogue is yelling on the other end, to get the status of the bags. Why didn’t you answer the phone?  I was busy with your money. Fern has to return immediately back to the office because Alma has a problem with the certification.  He is coming but he has to stop home and bathe first.  He hangs up on his brother.

Ricardo sees Marisela in the break room and asks if she is okay.  She seems a little sad.  He is still in heaven over his 2-second kiss and asks Marisela if she felt anything.  She denies it.  He felt that for the 2 seconds there was something, it was better than nothing at all. The lady doth protest too much, methinks. Marisela asks Susana if she had a love of her life that escaped.  Susana doesn’t want to share her business.

Fern is showering while Patymelt calls.  Patymelt wants to know if Fern told Rogue about her tidbit of information.   She wants details. Ferny speaks about Rogue having an ace up his sleeve, (As de la manga) but doesn’t know what it is.
Paty tells Ferny that he has to earn his position.  Gee, she is annoying.

The two Orion sillies are at Jesus’ computer; Jesus moves them away because he wants to speak to his daughter.  They start asking questions- are you married, etc. Jesus skype to Valentina.  He notes that she is a little sad.  Val is worried about her mom who is still “sick” in her room.  Jesus says that she is okay because he just saw her.  She came to his office.  She didn’t sign her school paper.  She wants her mother to go to a school social with her but since she is not available and Elias is not around, so she asks Jesus, who will go to the ends of the Earth with

Cardenas is practicing how he will speak to Jessica.  He has no swag.  Gilberto enters the office, overhears the “practice session” and asks if he likes Jessica.  Cardenas tells him to be careful because there are important records in his office. Come on, the door was open.  Gilberto has a problem- his wife is mad with him and he needs money to buy her a little gift, so he use the money that Cardenas gives him in exchange for his silence about Jessica.

Paty is showering herself with perfume and Rogue asks about seeing Ferny and what is she planning, Rogue warns her to stop interfering with he and Alma.  He will marry Alma.  Paty is at a loss for words but she is furious.  (She gets what she deserves.)  Who is conspiring against whom???

Jesus calls Vero and speaks to Minerva.  She yells that she doesn’t want to talk to anyone.  Jesus asks Minerva to keep an eye on Val.
Elias knocks on Chatita’s door.  She thinks that Elias is the plumber.  Then she recognizes him as the drunk.  She tires to tell him that Vero was there, a la Abbott and Costello style.  She invites him in.

Marisela claims that she is staying at a 5 star hotel but her father canceled her credit cards.  Xochy offers her apartment to Marisela.  Discua wants to know why was she fighting with her father, it’s not holy.  Honor thy parents.
Jessica is trying still raging over Discua.  Ferny doesn’t want to hear about Discua and Jessica says that he smells.  In the next moment he is so sexy and wants to jump his bones. Cardenas arrives to see her “working on Fern” and his luscious bouquet shrivels up to dried up branches.  A saddened Cardenas sulks away.

Val has the foresight to call her therapist.  The child is more mature than most of the adults in this novela!!  She said that her mother said that she could call her in an emergency and this is an emergency.

Elias tries to talk to Chatita, who confuses us all by her memory.  Chatita asks Elias if he thought about Val when he left.  She thinks of him as a father.

Jesus enters Alma’s office, he needed to see her, and he can’t hide what he is feeling.  Where is Rogue, he has left and Jesus plants a sensuous soul touching kiss on Alma. (Is this a dream?)

Yep, it was a nightmare for Rogue.  He wakes up and calls for Susana.  He asks if Jesus ahs arrived.  He asks Susana to check the boardroom for Jesus.  Jesus arrives and Xochy squeals like a little pig and starts kissing all over him.  He tells her that he is here to work.  Xochy will stay with Jesus. Marisela reminds her that she was going to take her home.  She ask him for an Eskimo kiss,

After the nookie fest, Fern warns Jessica to stay away from his Discua.  Jessica is none too happy.  Cardenas approaches the 3 sillies and says that he thought that Jessica and Fern had split. Gilberto disagrees because there was a big ruckus at the restaurant with Fern over Discua.  Cardenas wants to keep his love for Jessica a secret.  Yeah right, with these 3 sillies.  They discuss how Discua is a virgin and is waiting until marriage to have sex.

Chatita sends Elias back to Val.  Elias wants to tell Chatita his problems but she is focused on Val.  Chatita misses her son.  She embraces his photo.

Marta the Therapist arrives at the Ice Castle.

Rogue feels that it would be more comfortable to work in the boardroom as opposed to Alma’s office. He is not staying to help. (I smell a rat)  He tells Susana that if anyone asks he has left and he asks for Susana to call the crack security team.

Ferny wanted to take Discua home but she is going to meet with her spiritual group.  Ferny wants to come.  Discua smells something stinky.  What kind of shower did he take?

Marta visits with Val- she asks if she has talked to Vero, but she can’t she is always sleeping.  Val misses Elias and wants to know why did he leave?

In the boardroom, Alma puts on a little music.  Jesus tells Alma that Xochy is overflowing with emotion as he wipes her lipstick off of his cheek.  Rogue wants the security camera from the boardroom hooked up to his computer by (Melchon and Gaspar) Frick and Frack, the “crack security” team.  Jesus is aware of the false data and Alma doesn’t want Jesus to get involved in any problems. Jesus says that if they submit the actual data, they should win the competition.  They are sitting close together because they are sharing a computer and Rogue is having a jealous hissy fit.

Marisela and Xochy walk to her house.  Marisela complains because Xochy doesn’t have a car.  She is pulling a very large suitcase, when lover boy, Ricardo pulls up in his hoop dee. Xochy tells him that Marisela had a fight with her dad and she is staying with Xochy.  Ricardo will give them a lift.

Val asks Marta about her husband and if she has any kids.  Sadly she doesn’t. She is divorced, her ex is name is Isaac .Val asks if her mom and Elias are going to get divorced and in walks Papa Elias on cue to visit an elated Val.  Maybe Elias and Marta can hook up because he would do better with w stable woman.

At the Spiritual group, white robed people welcome Fern, his white tunic awaits. Ferny asks what type of classes are taught there because Discua is called Teacher.  They are called teachers because they are at the third point of the tantric triangle. I’m sure that Fern doesn’t have a clue.  He asks her to explain it in Spanish- she is one of the spiritual leaders.

Paty is checking on Rogue, who says that he is still at work.  Rogue can’t take his eyes off of the camera.  Alma is getting tired and apologizes for stretching and yawning.    Jesus is asking for some information to present, while Alma looks through a book with empty pages.  As Paty bursts into Rogue’s office, a pen drops and both Alma and Jesus bend down to look for it.  It’s a special pen that Alma’s father gave her, they have to find it.  Alma and Jesus exchange long, loving looks.

Coming attractions- Fern feels inspired by the spirit, and Rogue is plagued with jealousy- what else is new??

I have been inspired by Pablo- to list some thoughts-
!. Does Paty's apartment have any other room besides the bedroom??
2. Exactly how does Paty make a living??? She does nothing but get on my nerves!
3. Why didn't Fern wash the smell off of his body in the shower??? Wasn't he in the shower??
4. What gift does Gilberto think that he can buy his wife and she will forgive him??? A car??? Is he kidding??
5. Avon must be doing well financially to give everyone who needs money, a monetary advance.
6. Do I really believe that those two bumbling toy cops keep the company secure and know how to manipulate technology?

Thank you, TJ! Yeah, why is Valentina always the most mature person in the room??

I am psyched - the big kiss was, indeed, Rogue's daydream/nightmare. LOL! He sees what's between them, even if they don't.

And Discua... hmm... not a gold-digger, not a trepadora, but a recruiter for her "spiritual group." Will she try to convince Fernando to donate all his worldly goods to her church?

TJ - I can answer a few of your questions:

1. Why would Paty need anything besides a bedroom? What else does she do? I bet she doesn't even know how to boil an egg. (It actually looks like a hotel room, so maybe there really isn't anything else besides a bathroom!)

3. Maybe what everybody is smelling on Ferni is not the smell of trash, but the stink of stupidity. It doesn't wash off!

6. With all the monkey business he's doing in that place, Rogelio can't afford to have a competent security staff!

Pati is supported by Rogelio. She is his mistress. He pays her bills.
They discussed it a while back

Julie thank you for the answers, I do agree, stupidity never washes off.
Anonymous, thanks, I have missed many an episode this month.

Help! I can't find Wednesday's recap anywhere. What am I doing wrong??

I couldn't find it either.

I haven't seen this yet but your recap makes it sound like fun. More Valentina. Yeah! Elias & Marta. Hmm.

Chatita continues to muddle through with her poor memory and then home in on the very advice that everyone needs. Yes, Elias. Think of Valentina.

Güera

Thanks for the recap! I really needed since I went to see a friend and between the ji-ji-jí, jo-jo-jó, the cuernitos and the coffee, she didn't let me pay enough attention. One thing though, when Marisela asked Susana about that love in her life, that she sacrificed to marry her actual husband, Martha screamed, I know who her true love is! Is Alma´s father!!
-Martha! I replied, you're watching too many TN! So you might be right!

I will watch this episode on hulu as soon as it becomes available, so I can share some more thoughts.
Later!

TJ;

Excellent recap. So funny. Liked the whole recap. I too wondered why they kept saying that Ferny smelled after he took his shower. Maybe he wore the same suit? I think it is as Julie said, It's the stupidity, lol.

So Discua is a spiritual teacher, Hmmm. I wonder if she will convert Ferny.

I felt bad for Cardenas, but I don't know if Jess would be into him.

I just knew that kiss would be somebody's fantasy, too funny how it was Rog's nightmare. I wonder if he will go bust into Alma's office to see what they are doing in there.

I can't believe those bumbling cops are the crack security team, lol. Although the one cop, did bring up the cameras. How come Rog doesn't even know how to do that?

Guera and Anon 10:32:

My bad. I forgot to tag Pablo's most excellent recap. It is now tagged and you should be able to find Wednesday's recap. : )

Oh, and your right about Valentina being the adult here. I am glad she called Marta and that Elias finally showed up to see her.

Chatita really is one in a million. I have a question about Chatita. I only saw glimpses of I think it was TdA, that picture that Chatita was looking at, wasnt' that a character from that TN?

Tablet Jefa, thanks for the simply smashing recap. I laughed out loud at all your inspired observations and I particularly like your "listed thoughts".

I was glad that Valentina called her therapist. The poor child needs some TLC right NOW! I'm glad this show is a comedy or I would be in angst about her. (Like our dear friend JudyB.)

Pablo, I was thinking the same thing about Alma's dad and Susana.

TJ- Great recap. Gracias!

I was so happy to see the person with the loopiest thought process, Chatita, thinking clearly and telling the Elias what we have been yelling at the tv-- think of Valentina!!

And good for Valentina for having the good sense to call the nice psychologist, who is just supposed to be a child psychologist, but looks like she needs to go into family practice and take Vero and her two men on as a full-time project. I hope Elias falls head over heels for the hot doc, just to stick it to Vero, who will be left like the dog with the two sandwiches (it sounds better in Spanish).

It's my b-day, and I'm off to play all day, but I'll be checking in to read comments on my phone. Ciao amigos!

Besides the picture by the door, there is a story behind Chatita's name too.
Carmen Salinas had a friend (nicknamed el chato cejudo) who passed sometime last year and as a homage to their friendship, she asked her character's name changed to ''Chatita''. Being the ''first actress'' that she is nothing can be denied, and now he has been integrated into the story.
Chato (as we call people with a small nose) is a friendly way to call anybody, and Chatita, as confused as she is sometimes, has called Elías and maybe other characters chato, remember?

Thanks for the recap Tablet Jefa and the soul-searching questions. So sorry Pati annoys you since she is my favorite comedic character. "Individual differences" as we say.

Vivi...Happy Birthday. You share it with a great and wise friend of mine, Ilene, as well as with my grandson.

Jack just turns 5 today but he already has a fiancée. As a highly responsible fella, he has consulted worriedly with his parents about how he is going to support her when they're married, and how they will entertain their children on weekends when they don't have school! My daughter says on the days Jack and his "intended" have playdates, he's happy and calm. And totally ornery the other days! Ah, the power of love.

Have a ball today, Vivi!

Madelaine: I found Wednesday's episode! No need to apologize. I am so grateful to you and the other recappers for all your great work! Muchisimas gracias!

I couldn't find Wednesday re-cap either...I was looking for a title; "Looks Like Another Love TKO"

Oh well, I wanted to see what other's on here thought of the "catfight". I declared Discua De la Soledad, the winner on points. she fired off 3 consecutive open hand slaps to Jessy's jaw, after the standing eight count. (8 rapid winks)she got from Jessy's sucker punch to the head, to start things off.
Then the hair pulling, but no weave was lost.

BTW, there is nothing more disgusting than to see two women fight. Young girls today fight more than boys....youtube is loaded with girls fighting... where are the parents?

Vivi, ¡feliz cumpleaños amiga! I hope (and know) that you will do lots of lovely things for yourself today. I hope it is a beautiful day for you today, but if you don't get to see the sunshine then I'm sure your beautiful smile will provide plenty of sunny light.

JudyB, a very happy birthday to the energetic Jack. Your story about him and his fiancée put a smile on my face.

Also, thanks to all of you who helped me out with the dicho "El remedio, el trapito, y amárrale aqui tantito". Turns out it is a VERY useful saying.

So once again Google ate my comments. Needs to go on a diet...

Anyhoo...wonderful recap TJ!! And Judy, that little man has been taught well. Planning for his future love. Better thinking than I've seen in way too many young couples. Bless his very big heart!!

It was hard to deal with the stupid antics of a lot of characters with the ongoing heartbreak of little Val. I'm passed "slap silly" with Vero and heading straight to "strangle with neon phone cord". Elias' obvious love of little Val was wonderful to see and the Skype convo with Jesu was so lovely. I still want her out of that rambling house with the antiseptic nurse ( nice as she may be) and spoiled brat of a mother. Would be cool to take both her dads to that school function and then we can watch Vero's brain implode.

I am seeing an Elias/Marta hoopkup happening methinks??? Man could use a loving lady in his life.

How much longer must we deal with Xochi believing Chucho is her novio? It's beyond stupid and sad, and frankly, wrong on his part to let her think that. And she's getting annoying as h***. How fitting she and Mari wind up roommates. Yikes!!

Fern-- you work for Avon. They sell mens products such as cologne, soaps....just saying. Of course, nothing washes away the smell of being no good. Could Discua's strange little church be his ultimate odor-eater. Shades of Guys and Dolls--the crook finds religion. He starts singing "Rocking the Boat" tonight I'll pass out. But wouldn't that be a hoot to see him suddenly move from the dark side. Poor Rog, his blood pressure is already off the charts.

Daisy

Thanks, Tablet Jefa! I especially enjoyed your questions.

I loved how no matter how he showered and tried, Fernando could not get the "stink" off of him. Now with his involvement with Discua's group will it turn out to be a transcendental or spiritual stink? Didn't someone once mention that he reminded them of Pepe Le Pew (?)? If so, he's surely stuck with the stink!

Chatita continues to dole out more sage advice. Maybe Elías and Marta the psychiatrist/therapist could end up together. I wonder what Susana's sad love story is.

Pablo, thanks for the info on Chatita and Chato.

Vivi, happy birthday!

Jarifa

Daisy, I was thinking Guys 'n Dolls too! Now I'll be humming Luck Be A Lady and Rockin' the Boat all afternoon.

I love the idea of Val showing up to her function with both dads. They would be more than willing, they love her completely, and they seem very happy to team up on her behalf.

Oh my Sylvia--think I did it myself as well...Pictures of Stubby Kaye going thru my brain. ( Kind of day I'm having, I can't conjure up Brando).

Maybe I should try a TN version-- how about Jaime Camil as Nathan Detroit and Either Sebastian Rulli as Sky Masterson, or Jorge Salinas. Yeah, much better imagery now....

Oh, and Feliz Cumpleaños Vivi. Hope you have lots of sunshine to enjoy on your day out.

Daisy

Someone asked about how Pati makes a living, and someone else responded that Rogelio pays her bills. I thought I remember hearing that her father was very rich and she doesn't have to work. There was a conversation between her and Alma over the phone I think. Anybody else remember that?

Everything in this TN are lies and deception (including the previews) but yeah, I remember she saying that she didn't know what work was because she didn't have to do it. She was living off the inheritance from her parents. She was wondering why Alma was a workaholic when, according to her, she didn't have to either... soem like that...

Feliz Cumpleaños, Vivi. And to little Jack too.

Anon, I seem to remember that conversation too. I think that Pati has a wealthy father and that she has thanked God that she doesn't need to work -- but Rog also pays for the apartment, I think.

My VCR punked out last night so I didn't get to see the kiss -- should have known it would be a dream - er- nightmare sequence.

Güera

Gracias! Good think this crew has Valentina around to keep things under control and set a mature example. I loved how when she called, Marta's phone just said "Verónica". No need for last names; she knows exactly who her neediest client is.

I think it was revealed at one point that Pati has burned through her entire inheritance. Alma and everyone else think she is still living on it, but really she would be destitute and living on the streets or, shudder, having to work, if not for Rogue's financial support. I think this is a contributing factor in Pati's determination to keep Rogue even though he is awful to her.

Happy birthday, Vivi!

Happy birthday, Vivi! There's nothing like a Friday bday to carry you through the weekend. :)

Anon#1, I was a little disappointed by the catfight. I'm not really sure why. Something about the pace or the mood of it seemed "off." I also didn't feel enough sympathy OR loathing for either character to care what the outcome was. These things are much more fun when you actually want to see someone win.

I'm definitely on board with Valentina taking both dads to the thing at school. Then her classmates will have to stop calling her a liar!

Julia:

I seem to be of the mind as you on Patimelts. She and Maricela are both playing the same charade, but our Big-eyed beauty has a "Sugar Daddy" who puts a tad better roof over her head.

Daisy

I know this is a comedy, but Jesus really needs to say something to Xochi. They’ve known each other for, what is it, two weeks? They haven’t had a real date yet and she’s practically planning their wedding. The other assistants need to tell her that her behavior is the surest way to drive a man away. I’m not finding this funny--Flaco says it’s a cultural thing.

Happy birthday, Vivi and Jack (whom I adore) and my awesome genius nephew Bobby.

Nanette

Have almost run out of time to thank you Tablet Chief. Most of your questions have been answered satisfactorily, so I'll just say thank you for the great recap.

...Fern smells himself. - Phew. (It was Carlos that equated him to Pepe, now it's a given.) I thought it was a little raro that he would still stink after a shower and change of clothes, so they *must* be smelling the stink of stupidity!

...Marisela asks Susana if she had a love of her life that escaped. It'll be a stretch to link her with Alma's father. But this is tvlalalaland.

Elias the plumber. Good one, and good for Elias that he didn't take offense, just frustration that you can never have a straightforward conversation with Chatita. (And thank you Pablo for giving us that bit of background on Carmen Salinas & her friend.)

Anita, La Dama del Queso

Vivi--hope you enjoyed 'Your' day out. It was a lovely day and as lovely as yesterday was for me. I can proudly say I share my birthday with Al Pacino (day and year), but he works harder than I do and probably was on a shoot somewhere yesterday.

Anita

TJ thanks for your recap. I understand your feelings about Paty as I keep thinking of the day when her best friend finds out Paty is sleeping with her fiancé.

I love that the kiss is Rogue's nightmare. Serves him right. We know he's stupid but I can't believe he keeps taunting Paty about his impending marriage. Talk about an anvil waiting to happen.

Julie "stupidity doesn't wash off" - excellent.

Vivi - enjoy your day and JudyB thanks for sharing the story about your grandson.

Nanette - thanks for mentioning that Flaco says the Xochi plot is cultural b/c I also find it awful.

I don't know about cultural but it is annoying. And to make the problem worse, the whole bunch of secretaries, who are always spending 90% of the time snooping around instead of working, have not talked to her. Xóchitl could be ''first-timer'' and ignoring the basic rules of romancing the boys, but she need help pronto, and she is left alone to fend by herself in the unexplored land of love... Please, someone give her a copy of HOW TO BEHAVE DURING COURTSHIP or a least the link to WikiHow!! She is lost!

Now to the juicy stuff:

I saw yesterday the BIG BANG episode with the Doppler effect. So funny! (as always).

I just saw yesterday's PEAM episode on Hulu and I am ready to share some notes, but first, before I forget, the blessing Chatita gave Chucho and Elías before leaving the house, in case you're interested:

(Making the sign of the cross for both of them) May the blessed and Holy cross descend from the sky to cover your body and from all evil, danger or a violent and sudden death protect you. Amén
It makes more sense in spanish ;)

It is still Nov. 5th (noon to midnight)
I saw a green bag being taken from the garbage truck that wasn't in the baddies hands when they talked to Domitila. Did they take more trash than the trash they had put in?

Vocabulary:
El burro hablando de orejas- or, as TJ put it: el comal le dijo a la olla...
Toma chango tu banana- Is what you deserve
Jackie, Jackiesiera- In english could be something like You wish, but playing with a woman's name.

I agree with Marisela. That kiss was so ''x'' (compared to others that I have seen in that same TN) insignificant or unimportant.

I had to laugh when Rogelio sent Melchor and Gaspar looking for Baltasar (the third wise man).

Discua was about to release all of her energy through one of the points of her tantric triangle yesterday while meditating, when was abruptly stopped by Rogelio who told her: YOU CAN NEVER, EVER IN YOUR LIFE MEDITATE IN THIS WORKPLACE AGAIN! and since I am a being of light and I can read minds, could almost hera Alma thinking, yeah, you can spend the whole day gossiping, running back and forth pretending you're working, drinking coffee or making errands, but MEDITATING, NEVER! That's a no-no! Definitely forbidden!!

Oh! Before I forget: This is Jesús phone number in case someone wants to call him (55)32612065
LOng distance charges may apply ;)

Wink-o-meter (Low, just 5)

Pablo--I fear Xoxtchi is going to get the worst possible advice on how to behave with a new boyfriend--from Marisela.

Happy Birthday, Vivi!!!!!!!

I wondered about the green trash bag Fern took, too. Does the garbage crew go to the trouble of rebagging the trash they pick up? How do they still manage to be the only garbage collectors in Monterrey?

I'm with Mari...that kiss was totally equis...especially if she remembers smooching with Pepe (not le Pew) in a former life.

Muchas gracias for all the lovely birthday greetings. I had a great day. Judy, happy, happy birthday to Jack. He sounds like such a great little guy—already such a galan! :)

Feliz Cumpleaños Anita!!!!!!

Vivi...happy birthday...my sisters birthday is also today......

Thanks Lee. Happy birthday to your sister, and all the other April babies out there. :)
