Porque El Amor Manda: # 18- 4/3/13-Chucho Sprays Firebug Fer; Vero Almost Has a Heart Attack; And Alma is Jealous of....Alma?

Jessica scolds Fer on the phone about the dognapping and that she is taking the heat for it; she's the sacrifice. He is baffled by her outburst.
Sue, Xochi and Chucho return to the office and find Mari. Mari is upset and grumbles about her meeting with her dad (she lies about him).
Photo shoot - Alma and Eli meet and introduce themselves again - they laugh over their cover for Chucho (secret from Vero). She admires him for helping Chucho and Val be together. Eli tells her, what a coincidence, Chucho is crazy about a gal named Alma. Alma is stunned; there's another Alma in his life?
Fer rips up a photo and sets it on fire. He grumbles as he leaves the burning photo in Rog's wastebasket and leaves Rog's office.
Chatita talks with neighbors; they tell her there was a break-in at Chucho's apartment. Chatita goes to check on things - wonders what happened.
Fire continues to burn in Rog's wastebasket.
Ricardo waits in hallway. Jessica comes over. Mari spies as Jessica and Ricardo enter the supply closet. In the closet, Jessica gives Ricardo her rules for how their one minute session will work. Ricardo is confused. She starts to take off her clothes. He stops her - he wasn't interested in that; and says she's not really his type. She's offended and insulted and stomps out.
Fire alarm goes off. The secretaries gather in the office. Susanah organizes everyone and reminds them that they need to leave by the stairs (do not use the elevators).
Fer hears the alarm but continues to work on his computer.
The fire maintenance team orders everyone to evacuate the building immediately. The fire department has been notified.
Chatita is in her apartment, trying hard to remember Chucho's phone number and where he works. She calls information and gets the number for the police; then she calls the police and hangs up. Then she calls a number, thinking it is Chucho's work number.
Maintenance calls Rogelio, who is leaving the doggy spa with Samson, to tell him about the fire at Avon. Rogelio panics, apologizes to Samson and takes the doggy to work with him.
Everyone gathers outside the building. The secretaries gossip and wonder what happened. Chucho looks around and doesn't see Alma. Alma and Eli are still in the photo shoot in another building. They talk about the mystery woman Chucho likes. Eli says Chucho is crazy about her, then goes to work with the model. Alma is becoming jealous and curious.
Rogelio shows up at Avon. He hands Samson over to Susanah, and he goes to talk with the maintenance worker and firefighters. He calls on his cell phone to Alma - she is just leaving the photo shoot location. Meanwhile, Chucho panics and runs inside the Avon building and up the smoke filled stairs. Fer finishes working on his computer and enters the smoke filled office, just as Chucho enters with a fire extinguisher. Fer yells, Fire! Fire! and Chucho sprays him with the fire extinguisher really good. Fer runs for the stairs to go down. Chucho enters Alma's office searching for her. The firefighters tell him to get out, it's dangerous. Chucho is stubborn.
Alma meets up with Rogelio outside their office building. She looks around and wonders where Chucho is.
Valentina arrives home from school. Vero greets her at the door and gives her an eyeball examination. Vero checks the book from school and sees the negative write-up from the school. She is really upset and demands an explanation. Val tells her the truth - they missed the school bus and had to take public bus and got to school late, they meaning her, her daddy Jesus and Samson the dog. Vero is shocked and mortified.
Chucho finally appears outside, coughing from the smoke. Alma is relieved to see him. Xochi runs to him and gives him a huge hug. Chucho coughs and breaks free from her. Chucho sees Almas and says he was looking for her. Alma thanks him for worrying. The maintenance worker makes an announcement about the firefighters have cleared the building so everyone can return to work.
Ricardo and Mari discuss his and Jessica's meeting in the closet. He likes Mari very much and wants a chance with her. She tells him, no way. then scolds him and tells him there was just a fire, so this isn't the time or place.
Val tells her mom all about last night with papi Jesus. That Chatita was her babysitter - that papi Jesus had to leave on a late-night important errand and Chatita slept with her in her bed. As Vero listens, she starts to hyperventilate. Val continues to explain why they were late and why they had to take public transportation to school. Vero hyperventilates from shock.
Rogelio and Alma are back in his office. He tells her the fire department found a photo had been on fire in his wastebasket. He soon changes the subject to their wedding. He suggests they have the entire thing at the Mayan Riviera next month. Alma is surprised and stunned.
Susanah is on the phone. Chucho asks Xochi and Mari who she is talking with? They explain that Susanah is checking on her husband, who is sick. Susanah cries as she hangs up. Chucho asks. Susanah cries that the doctor says her husband has heart and lung problems now and could die soon - too much smoking. Chucho tries to cheer her up by telling her about an amazing new treatment he heart about in Chicago. Fer calls "Encanto" and Chucho has to run.
Julio and Gilberto are walking through the cafe gossiping. They see Ricardo, depressed, at a table. Gilberto and Julio try to cheer him up with gossip about "Encanto". Ricardo is upset about Mari scolding him. He wonders how to get her attention; they think she's rich and he's poor and a nobody.
Mari and Xochi are working at their desks. She is still grumbling about Ricardo. Xochi thinks Mari likes Ricardo. Mari says she isn't interested in him at all.
Fer calls "Encanto" again. Chucho enters his office. Fer is standing there, in his underwear, and holding his soaked suit. He tells Chucho to take the clothes and get them dried out/cleaned. Fer scolds and insults Chucho for spraying him. Chucho leaves with the suit. Rogelio soon enters and sees Fer. Rogelio starts to scold Fer about that being an office and everyone needs to look professional. Fer explains how Chucho got him with the fire extinguisher. The brothers agree Chucho is a problem. Rogelio tells Fer to shut up, he needs to think - of a full-proof plan to get rid of Chucho. Rogelio's idea - to get Alma to scream and fire Chucho; he thinks she will be the perfect person to manipulate and fire Chucho.
Pati visits Alma in her office. They discuss wedding plans and Alma reminds Pati that they have to search for her wedding dress. Pati wants to have dinner with Alma, but Alma can't. She has an important fundraising cocktail party to attend. Pati thinks she could go along, and Chucho can be her date.
Susanah talks with other secretaries. She then calls doctor - she looks at Mari and tells her to go get the coffee ready (since Xochi and Chucho aren't there.)
Pati and Alma discuss Pati's infatuation with Chucho.
In the warehouse, Chucho and Xochi find a hanging rack and hang up Fer's suit to dry out. He explains to Xochi what happened. Chucho then smiles and says he was so relieved to see Alma sano y salvo outside the building. In the office, Pati and Alma continue talking about Chucho - Alma doesn't want Pati to get her heart broken; Pati doesn't think that will happen and starts to describe all the positive things about Chucho's character (lots of adjectives); she says he's a good friend, a gentleman, and he could become something else, why not?
In the warehouse, Chucho and Xochi are talking. Xochi asks him a question about Alma and he gets defensive. Xochi is upset and then asks him directly, are you in love with (infatuated by) Lic. Alma?
Tomorrow: Vero becomes inquisitive; Chucho's infatuation with his boss grows stronger; Rogelio announces the date for his wedding with Alma to the office staff.

Isn't it funny how the fire never touched Rog's computer. A lot of other stuff was burned in that office. I think the burned pics were of Rog and Sanson. So the new plan is to get Alma to fire Chucho? I don't really think that is going to work.
Patimelt is sure ratcheting up Alma's jealousy. I liked Patimelt's adjectives for Chucho, like handsome, wonderful, etc. Too cute. And the look on Alma's face, too funny.
So Ricardo has it bad for Mari, Hmmm. Wasn't that the pheromone stuff he wanted from Jess? I really thought she was gonna have to you know with Ricardo, but no just that perfumey stuff.

Thanks Jody and Madelaine for a wonderful writing and rapid posting. This was fun for the most part with only the predictable eruption from the MomCop. I hate how she humiliates and tries to terrify her own daughter. Fortunately Elias and now Chucho can fortify the brave little Valentina. She will then only require a lifetime of psychological intervention to assist if her ego ever crumbles. Something tells me that won't happen, Valentina is so delightful.

I think I am seeing things.
First I think I saw Marisela telling Ricardo she was never going to fall for him and asking him do you know what time it is? Time for you to get real (tapping her pink watch with her pink and white nails) but then when they were inside the office, she says almost the same thing to Xóchitl, showing her a golden watch and this time I couldn't see if the nails had the same design...
When the three stooges criticize Ricardo's perfume, they tell him is from ''Patito's brand''. Marca Patito is slang for something whose brand is not well known, meaning cheap.
I still hate those sound effects. Without them, the TN could be a lot better, imho...

Just finished reading the recap. Jody, you are in fine fettle. You got all the smoke and mirrors in.

Pablo--Marca Patito! That's a hoot. If we had a Meta*Mart here like we do on Amores Verdaderos, we would certainly have to carry a line of Marca Patito cosmetics, underwear, stockings, watches, fire extinguishers, gross gold chains, muchilas rosadas, and wedding dresses.
Vero's antics are getting tiresome. Enough of the 3d degree. The child is home safe and sound. All she needed to do is spray her with Flit (anyone remember that stuff?), 'dip' her to get rid of the fleas, and Mads, absolutely, de-louse and de-tox!
I was surprised that the bomberos (one of my favorite words) let those folks back in the building so quickly after all that smoke--and nary a fan or open windows (miracle). I guess they didn't have to call the restoration company if there's no water damage, but lordy, Rogue's office was a mess.
During the Alma/Patimelt convo, Alma kept trying to dissuade Pati from going after Heysus because he wasn't her type, that she was used to dating men from a higher social class. Her response was that it was time to erase those social barriers and Alma agreed. But she also cautioned Pati not to play with Heysus; she didn't want him to get hurt. Pati brushed her off.

They are starting to flesh the background characters out, which is good. But I would actually rather get more backstory on Xochi, Alma and Pati, than on the sillies and the other secretaries. I guess this tn is long enough to get into everyone's back stories.

Very Good Re-cap.... I turn to PEAM, just as Jessica,(Sexy-Jessy)was stomping out of the room. To my suprise, she had taken the secretary jacket off....I will catch this on Hulu, but as the various plots develope, maybe she will be seen outside the office in street clothes... I can't wait.

I think I know what you mean. I noticed it around her breast, even when vertical lines suppose to make you look thinner, the ones on the breast makes it look fuller...
Even Xóxhitl looks very well endowed when she takes off her jacket. They all have those vests that make the breast jump out of them...

Thanks, Jody. I am mainly watching to see Fc's beautiful face. Ver-ruin-everybody's-day is getting on my last nerve. Is she a germophobe with an advanced case of OCD ? I guess we all know someone in our own lives who can suck the fun out of every day. That's Viro's role. Basta. That poor kid is going to need her therapist her whole life if Elias and Jesus can't get Viro to lighten up. I usually like the actor playing Fernando , but he is just tootoo much in this role. I am sorry I got carried away and mistake doppler for moiré, I guess by association doppler, double, breasted, and the vertical lines, etc.
I guess the optical illusion was in the lines of a different color in the front of her dress. A little blueish, and so I thought I was seeing more of that area.

Sorry all, but my favorite scene was between Veronica and Valentina last night. I thought that Roni showed remarkable control as Tina revealed the terrifying details of her overnight stay with Dad. Excellent acting by both.

Have to say, glad I missed hyperventilating vero. Lord, I knew that was happen. I'm sure not only will she go off the deep end with Chucho, but she'll most likely refuse to let Val hang with her dad in the near future. Witch.
Not quite into all the side stories, though I do find the one with Susanna sad and interesting. Could there be a return visit to my old hometown on this TN? As for the rest, gees, are these the only people in the world that everyone has to fall for someone else in the office? Hmmmm.

When Valentina told Vero about her stay with Chucho, did she say anything about the money or the mysterious visitor? I'm not sure what the implications would be, one way or the other if Vero knows or not, but I'm wondering if Valentina still believes it really happened or if she thinks now that she only dreamed it.

Julie, Valentina never mentioned anything about the break in or the money. It seems like the inquisition got derailed in Verónica's extremely horrified reaction to the answers to her very pointed questions before Valentina might have filled in some other details about the visit.

Whew. Thanks, Jarifa. The inquisition is gonna be bad enough without all that mess. (Imagine if Vero wanted to search the apartment for the money. She'd either search Chatita's place or find out that Chucho lied to her about where he lives. And it'd all be downhill from there.)

I watched the Big Bang from the very beginning, but around 2008 it began to interfere with tn runs. Now that cable is showing the episodes at other time slots, I catch them there. So funny. Also, OT, I first saw Jim Parsons in several episodes of Judging Amy, waaaay back when. He had a flair for the comic shtick then, too.

capcha makes me crazy, can't understand why they put sth there that is impossible to read. I have realized a couple of things, you don't need to put in the #'s & you don't have to put in capital letters.
If you can come up with ways to get around the captchas my friend, then you are a robot!

Oy. Meeting and appointments are really getting in the way of my Caray Caray enjoyment today. It's taken me all day of tiny breaks to read the whole recap and all the comments. SO WORTH IT, though! You are all so funny.

This recipe looks very good and so does the icing, but I'd rather use cream cheese instead of shortening.
The thought of it brings me the picture of Steve Carell eating spoonfuls of it on The Daily Show.

I actually thought that recipe was a little too oily the first time I made it. This time I reduced the oil by a few tablespoons and it was perfect. If you puree some or all of the carrots, they keep the cake moist.
I'm not a vegan, but I have a lot of food sensitivities so I am always looking for recipes which avoid cow milk and eggs and wheat and such. I used goat cheese to make frosting and that was delicious.
