Amores Verdaderos #132 Thu 5/16/13 Karma, Manly Tears and a Farewell

The fan-made AV photo of the week: Cosmopolita!

It says:
Sexy tips: how to conquest and seduce your blonde sweetheart
Survival manual: now make Nikki get lost in a jungle
Test: how Balvanera are you
10 ways how to get together with a little gorilla… and not to die in the process
Polita: a great voice, a great heart
Balvanera love - true love
Avoid melting in front of Guzmáncito: shake him out of your mind!

* Lo refrito: Big Angel overhears when Victoria confession to Adriana that she has to rip Arriaga out of her heart. What will he do?

* Lo nuevo: Suddenly he interrupts the conversation by handing the mail to Victoria. It’s a very awkward moment for all of them, and the Balvanera girls know Arriaga overheard them, but right now Vicky and her wounded pride are in the “I don’t give a damn” mode, and instead she tells Adriana that Guzmán quit his job. What a shame, says Adri, she’ll miss him. And by the way, she always thought he would be the right man for Nikki.

* In the meantime The Right Man For Nikki is freaking out at the sight of the tickets. Where did Felipe get money to buy them? Is he still gambling? He can’t accept them! Daddy informs him that he won at the lottery. And now go and fight for your love! Oh, and Guzmi won’t have to worry about the money he owes to Ms. Victoria, because Felipe is determined to pay off his debt. He’s even looking for a job now. And he understands Frankie’s feelings perfectly because he still loves Paula. Believe him, it’s never too late to win back the love of his life. Guzmáncito gets all dreamy-eyes as he thinks about his beloved Neta Equis Nikki Brizz Balvanera Pavia.

* In Miami Elvis Royero should be practicing for his match next day, but instead he’s just complaining about Nikki and Frankie. His whining is so annoying that even Omar gets fed up with him, and kindly tells him that he should stop playing the victim. He married Nikki for her money, and he didn’t have the guts to leave everything behind for Liliana! Oh, Liliana… Roy admits that he can’t stop thinking about her. He decides to call her at the Balvanera house (now Omar starts rolling his eyes), but it’s Polita who answers the phone, and she tells the BoyToy that Liliana is dating the Güerito chulo del Guzmán (the blonde heartthrob Guzmán). They’re getting married and they’ll have five children, suck it up, loser! Royero is devastated, oh noes, he lost Liliana, he lost her forever! While the BoyToy is wallowing in self-pity, Polita tells Lili about his call. Little Orchid doesn’t really like Poli’s lie. * In the meantime Nikki is crying over her dinner as she remembers back Kendra’s cruel words about Frankie.

* At the Balvaneras the sisters greet the private detective who’s investigating after Adri’s baby. But unfortunately he only had bad news: that certain Miss Abigail died two years ago, here’s the copy of her death certificate. Adriana freaks out in a true Balvanera way: that can’t be true, what is she going to do now, she lost all hope of finding Lucía! While Vicky and Arriaga are trying to calm her down, the detective is actually feeling horrible for what he did, and he also has a very low opinion of Aníbal, who makes his own daughter suffer that much. In the meantime the father of the decade, aka Aníbal is sitting in his office, and he’s very proud of himself. Nobody will ever find out that Liliana is Adri’s missing daughter.

* Poor, poor, poor Beatriz gets a phone call from the One Who Shall Not Be Named. She begs her psycho ex-husband to give her son back, and the Lowlife and tells her that if she ever wants to see Guillo again, get rid of Salsero. And since she doesn’t have any other choice, she obeys and breaks up with the man she loves. Salsero joins the club of Bodyguards with a Broken Heart, but nevertheless, he understands her decision and he hugs her thightly.

* Aníbal managed to crush Adriana’s hopes again, but Victoria’s spirit is still flying high: she says they’ll find Lucía, and she already knows where to look for more informations. Nelson wants to be the CEO of Meta Imagen, and he also wants to live in the Balvanera mansion. He must be blackmailing Aníbal with something very embarrassing! Vicky suspects that the Furminator may know something about Lucía. They need to have a serious talk with him.

* Felipe and Paula talk about Frankie’s upcoming trip to Miami, and it turns out it was his mother who bought the tickets.

* Guzmán tells his bro’ Arriaga about his plans. When she and Nikki get together, he wants to live with her in the USA for a while. Oh, and he wants to get divorced at last. * Nelson Brizz (who’s slowly turning into my favourite troll) arrives at the Balvanera hacienda. Victoria and Adriana are anxious to get some informations out of him, but since Nelson is a misogynistic, hypocritical, womanizing pig, the conversation quickly turns into a huge fight about Kendra, Nikki, Frankie and Arriaga, aka Victoria’s “lover”. He even dares to say that thanks to Kendra Nikki is married with a man of their own status. *Viewerville collectively screams: Jesus, man!* Vicky is ready to tear Nelson into pieces with her own hands, and she swears he’ll pay for every one of his insults. How, asks Nelson. Is her bodyguard going to kill him?

* The Most Epic Scene of the episode: Kendra and Odette have a friendly chat in a restaurant. The Barbie Doll wants to secure her and her child’s future by blackmailing the Wicked Witch of the West. Hey Odette, I know your son is gay and he has a relationship with the Balvanera’s chef! Odette basically tells Kendho to shove her threats up her you-know-what (but she’s a lady so she uses more polite expressions), and she’s about to leave, but Kendra plays this game dirtier than anyone else. She starts to shout the truth to the world (okay, to the people at the restaurant): hey, most of you know the famous Odette Longoria, but did you know that her son, Estéfano is gay? Odette can’t take anymore: she groans that Kendra will pay for this, and then she collapses. It seems the witch has a heart attack. Or an apoplexy? And wow, it frightens even Kendra, because she wasn’t supposed to kill her goldmine!

* At Meta Imagen Vicky tries to talk about Nelson with Aníbal. His accusations and audacity are driving her crazy! If Aníbal doesn’t fire him, then she’ll quit her job. Her father asks her to calm down and remember that vengeance is best served cold. Just go away for a while, and in the meantime he’ll look for a solution. Vicky has to understand that she can’t divorce Nelson until his bastard baby is born. * Opalina tells poor Adriana that her daughter is closer than she thinks. They’ll reunite soon. And then we hear Opalina’s inner thoughts: if only you know that you’re already living with your daughter!

* Arriaga can’t bear it when he and Victoria are on bed terms, and he especially can’t bear it when Ms. Vicky is sad, so he pulls his sad puppy eyes and he slowly sneaks into her office. Do you need something, senora? Are you sad about your daughter? You must miss her much. Vicky answers that their kids don’t belong to their parents, they just borrow them for a while, and all they can do is to guide them through life. Angel agrees that yes, this is the law of life, but honestly, he would be very unhappy if his beloved solecito was far away from him. Vicky admits that she worries about Nikki, and she decided to visit her in Miami. And from there, she’ll go to Buenos Aires. Who-hoo, Arriaga doesn’t like this turn of events. Buenos Aires? She means Argentina? And will she take him with her? No, Arriaga, she’s going alone. Big Angel is impactado.

* In the hospital Kendho greets Stevie, who’s already half-dead with worry, and she stabs a huge knife into his heart by telling him that she and Odette were talking about him when his mother got a heart attack/whatever. Odette was devastated because of HIS situation, and she was so upset about his relationship with the Balvanera chef that she dropped on the floor! Estéfano breaks down at the knews, but worry not, because Kendra, the best friend of his mom tells him that he isn’t alone, he’ll always have her and God. *Viewerville: just die already, Kendra*

* Arriaga is sorry to hear that Vicky will be away for many months. And it seems he’ll have to look for another job. No, of course not, says Victoria. He’ll stay in the house and look after her sister. She and Adri already talked about it *LOL, she’s a good liar!* and naturally Adriana loves the idea. And Liliana could also live in the mansion. Arriaga doesn’t want Lili to live in that house, but when Victoria starts to bat her eyelashes (“Would you do that for me? Ehm, I mean, for my sister?”), he can’t resist her. All right, of course he’ll do whatever she says.

* Half an hour later at the Balvaneras: Vicky tells Adriana that she'll have a bodyguard. Adriana isn’t fond of the idea, but Victoria convinces her that it’ll be fun. Especially since Liliana will be close to her.

 * The servants organize a little farewell party to their beloved friend Frankie, and soon Victoria and Adriana join them, too. Everyone says very nice and touching things to the little ape (Arriaga calls him his best friend, Lili and Poli are basically swooning over him, Salsero promises that he won’t rest until Betty gets her son back *okay, that part was a little bit depressing*, Victoria praises him and tells him that he earned their trust and love, and Adriana thanks for his friendship and support). Oh, the tears, the tears! They all toast to Guzmi, because, well, everyone loves the gorillita.

Aribeth:

That fan made cover is priceless! I had to chuckle seeing it. Can't wait for your always, always marvelous recap and like your title too, : )

That is so cute!

Kendra was AWE...SOME...! She's just sooooo evil. I loathe/love her! She broke Odd-ette! Who does that?

Thanks in advance for the recap Aribeth.

LOL! I especially like the spelling of "werito chulo".

Great find!

Audrey- I liked that too. :)

Aribeth- Thanks for the morning laugh. Looking forward to the recap later. There were a lot of goodbyes this episode. Let's see who actually leaves.

Estefano is Kendra's new target/vicitm, now that she's killed Cris and wounded Nikki. Watch out Stevie!

Aribeth: Cosmopolita? Shear creative genius. Delightful. The picture was fantastic. What talented recappers we have. We are SOOO fortunate.

Cynderella, Kendra's craftiness and utter lack of morals are scruples are noteworthy. I begrudgingly admit, she is the master.

Madelaine, I salivate every time I see your picture of EY. Sigh.

Vivi, I really liked Francisco's send-off. Glad Vicky and Adri joined the party but agree that he may leave but will certainly be back.

From the preview, I cannot tell if Frankie and Nikki actually connect...

Diana

Aribeth - I luuurrrrve the COSMOPOLITA (nice play on words!) fan mag cover.

Guzman looks like he gets to Miami, but will Vicky get to Argentina? Looks like JA will try to put a stop to that tonight.

Diana:

"Madelaine, I salivate every time I see your picture of EY."

So do I, so do I. :)

As for the "Cosmopolita" cover: I didn't make it, I just found it on one of the ten gazillions Amores verdaderos websites. :)

Kendra might think she's off the hook for Odio-ette's heart attack, but the video that guy took of the fight is bound to surface on youtube.

If Vikki does make it to Argentina, what sayeth the Patio that her old flame is down there?

Audrey: I love werito* chulo, too! :)

And a few weeks ago I saw a photo of Lalo and Sebastián on Erika's facebook page, and she wrote: que wapos**.

(* blonde = güero -> blondie = güerito -> werito
** handsome = guapo -> wapo -> que wapos = how handsome they are)

Mexican slang is hípersupercool. Neta! :)

Will "Neta"Mart have copies of COSMOPOLITA for sale at the check-out aisle, or on their AmazonMarketplace/eBay sites???

Gaaah! I just now got that it was Cosmo-POLITA! (Thanks to DH)

This is hysterical! What a way to start a Friday Aribeth. Would love to see that "test". Those are always a hoot in Cosmo.
Though I have to say, not thrilled at Polita right now for what she told Nikki.

Daisy

Was anyone else a little disturbed to see Kendra sipping a margarita? Guess she forgot about little Mia for a moment. Love how she told Estéfano to look to God.

Carlos

Carlos, Surely it was a virgin margarita. The Evil Trampire is a very conscientious fake-mother-to-be and would never harm her fake-baby.

Kendra looked a little bit sunburned in last night's ep. Or maybe the color filter is wonky on our TV.

I wanted to cry for Bea when she found out the rabbit died. Ack.

Aribeth - Cosmopolita is too cute. Thanks for sharing all these AV “finds.”

I miss my Cris, so it was nice to see her in the flashback to commercial (or whatever these little clips are called) right after Opalina assured Adriana that her Lucia grew up surrounded by love.

Sure hope Estafano doesn’t do something foolish. He needs to get with JM to get the dope on KendaHo.

Kendra might think she's off the hook for Odio-ette's heart attack, but the video that guy took of the fight is bound to surface on youtube.

Gawd I hope so.

Doris-Bea broke my heart last night. I really wish they hadn't taken this plot turn.

Cosmopolita-WOW!Fabuloso,Estupendo

I have to hand it to KendHo last night, even though I don't want to,
she played her part to perfection.

There was a flashback of Cris last night---not sure what that was but I liked it.

Bea did not look happy with the test results, I wonder what will be comming next for her and Dances.

Sara C---Have you ever shown the novela "Clase 406" to your class? They would love it.

Elvira---Yes, the Bobs Big Boy on Gleloaks was nice too, I have been to that one also. North Glendale is nicer than South Glendale but I usually went to the Bob's on Colorado as it was closer. It was nice also.

Thanks in advance Aribeth, I know that your recap will be great.
the gringo

Thanks for the recommendation, Gringo!

Sara

Now there's a mag I'd be proud to leave in my powder room! Thanks, Aribeth!

The advances did suggest that Vikki won't make it to Buenos Aires. Too bad. I was ready to see someone with a rose between their teeth. (But advances lie, so who knows?)

Roy was back to whiny baby mode. I didn't care. I just imagined he was keeping vigil over Bob's Big Boy.

Don't you just love it when someone makes the metaphoric literal?

Dear apoplectic Odette,
¡que te mejores pronto!

I don't quite understand why Aníbal is making this so complex. Now that he's disposed of the nurse, why not go ahead and kick out Nelson thus triggering Nelson's revelation of Cande's letter? He can fall back on his story that he's as surprised as everyone else over the evil Dr.'s deception and box of rocks. What a coincidence that his daughter (of whom he just found out) adopted his presumed dead grand daughter. The world really is a handkerchief.

Let Cande explain the details to Arriaga and Ratiana.

Next!

Carlos

I think Anyballs just likes drama and intrigue and secrets and playing like he's the brilliant mastermind of an empire. It would definitely be in his interest to just get the secrets out in the open, when and how he chooses, so he can control the spin better and his family could start getting over it and he wouldn't be stuck with Nils. But then his game would be over.

Yes, Carlos, I think Julia nailed it. In a family full of Drama Queens, the old man is the biggest Drama Queen of them all!

I think Anibal wants to keep his daughters away from men he hasn't chosen for them and their offspring. He wants to maintain control over his "progeny" and "family name" (image). He doesn't approve of publicly messing with the riffraff (and that includes Cande).

Hola, recap is up!
Excusez moi for the grammar/other errors, it's been a long week. :)

I loved Victoria's blue and green dress. Last year, at the very beginning she wore the same dress in the promotionals.

Splendid recap!!! My favorite line: Just die already, Kendra.

Aribeth, I just love your recap. The screenshots, of course, are marvelous. Thank you!

"Adriana freaks out in a true Balvanera way" -- Yes! And what a monument to bad acting it was! It reminded me of a particularly embarrassing scene of William Levy's in TdA. How do scenes like this make the final cut?

"Nikki is crying over her dinner" -- Her 10,000 calorie dessert spread! Not a good sign.

"How, asks Nelson. Is her bodyguard going to kill him?" I assume I'm not the only one who thought this was a pretty good idea. What's that? I AM the only one. Oh.

"Just die already, Kendra." I'll drink to that!

When I heard Nils say "How? Is your bodyguard going to kill me?", I thought, "Great idea!"

Aribeth - Terrific screenshots, love the one with the bodyguards and Lili. My favorite line: "joins the club of Bodyguards with a Broken Heart" -- awww, so cute.

Wouldn't Vickie be vulnerable to kidnapping in Argentina too? Seems to me she'd still need a bodyguard there.

When Vickie told Adriana she had a plan, I thought finally one of the good guys is going to set a trap. But nope, she simply asked the lying Nelson if he knew about Adriana's baby and -- he lied. Maybe there's more to the plan?

Awwww. Paula finally did something motherly for her son.

Francisco has lots of plans for the future. So far, things haven't worked out too well for him. He might be a tad overly optimistic about the results of this trip to Miami.

I wonder if Odette had a stroke. Her speech was distorted when she was collapsing at the restaurant. If so, that's bound to help Kendra with whatever evil plans she's hatching for Estefano.

Speaking of him, are his acting skills limited, or is it just my unrealistic expectations?

Thanks for a fun recap! I especially enjoyed: "Nelson even dares to say thanks to Kendra, Nikki is married to a man of their own status. Viewerville collectively screams, Jesus man!"

SH

"I wonder if Odette had a stroke."

SH, yes, she did. The doctor told Estéfano that she had suffered a derrame cerebral, the kind of stroke caused by a burst blood vessel in the brain.

As if the screen shots weren't marvelous enough, the recap shot this into the stratosphere.

Aribeth, you totally rock! So many delicious, tantalizing morsels but the best line had to be "but since Nelson is a misogynistic, hypocritical, womanizing pig, the conversation quickly turns into a huge fight about Kendra, Nikki, Frankie". Excellent!

Anibal continues down the path of irredeemability. He is positively loathsome. At this point, I wish we were free of he and Nelson. Period. I'm not going to even mention Kendra in the same breath. She deserves a particularly evil ending.

Aribeth - thank you!

Diana

Aribeth:

Thanks so much for this marvelous recap and the most excellent screencaps.

Opalina made another appearance. Hmmmmm. I wonder how long the secret of Liliana being Lucia is going to be kept, well a secret.

Anyballs is on my last nerve. I want him to be caught in one of his many lies. What he has done to Adri is way, way more than despicable. Lucia is his own flesh and blood. What an A$$hat he is.

FF will continue to lie I think. He is only looking out for the FF, he could care/share less. He wants all that Balvanera Moola.
