Qué Bonito Amor #32 (Mex 47.2-48) Tuesday 5/28/13 Que Que What? Is That the Ghost of Rigoberto Past?

Todo lo que Pasó Ayer, Pasó Ayer

Esto Pasó Hoy

[Ed. note: Cap. 47, pt. 2  was deftly written by Urban Anthropologist, with some embellishments by Anita.   Cap 48 is up.]

Girls' Apartment:   They appear to have finished moving the furniture in and are horsing around. Food and drink appear and one of the guys tells the others they should help, are they not men?  They get up and Lety says “No, wait,” pushing back against Jairo's chest (the best male one in this scene) as the others tease good-naturedly.  They all sit down and eat, leaving very clean plates.  Jairo suggests some music and he turns on the boom box to some cumbia.  They start dancing, but that dance floor is a little small for all of them.  Jairo and Lety have the best moves of the group.

Outside Middle School:  Ignored and rebuffed by Paloma, Rodrigo leaves Paloma sulking.  The mean girls set up a play date with Rodrigo.  He smiles. Paloma snuffles.

Irasema's Apartment:   Jorge Alfredo arrives to warn her that Susanito discovered her profession and is very hurt and upset.  She asks why he didn't tell him.  He tries to explain that it never occurred to him that Susanito had been talking about her all that time.  She tells him not to judge; that people invent stories to deal with their pain.  Susanito invented this one because for all these years he was lonely for a woman to be at his side.  He acknowledges this is a possibility and suggests that she come to the bar that night to talk to him.  She refuses, saying she has no right to love and doesn’t have a thing to wear—all she has is “office wear.”  Life does not allow her love.  “Love is for you and your Bonita.”  She begins to cry.  Jorge knows when it’s time to leave.

Mendoza Apartment:   Maria talks to her mother on the phone, asking about Isabel.  All is well.  She tells her mother “No te preocupes” [TN Cliché # 51], she'll cook dinner and look after Paloma.  They're out of cash but she expects to be paid the next day.  Amalia tells her they have to talk about the hospital bill.  Maria tells her that Jorge Alfredo used the money his parents sent him to return to Los Angeles for Isa’s bill, not Rubén.  Somehow Amalia thinks this is worse than the fact that they already owe Rubén for her hospital bill. She’s going to pay them both back.  She doesn't want to owe anyone anything.  Maria is not in the mood to argue about this now and tells Amalia so.  She won’t press the issue and they end the call.

Garza Mansion:   Stupid Wendy calls Bruno, who tells her he just woke up. [Excuse me, but why is that little lie necessary? He’s been up worrying about his fate all night.]  She tells him she wants to see him but he hedges.  He says he wants things back to normal and she says has something to tell him. He says ok, he’ll call her later and hangs up. He cries like a little girl.

Mendoza Apartment:   Jorge Alfredo arrives as Maria is ironing.  She asks if he resolved the situation, but he recounts his conversation with Irasema.  Nope, stalemate for now.   Maria's got a new dress that Irasema can wear to the Fiesta de Santa Cecelia, another Mexican custom he doesn't know about.  She tells him what a good thing it is for the neighborhood, promoting goodwill and a good time to be had by all.  He's pretty sure Irasema won't accept the dress, but Maria tells him to leave that to her.  She then runs back to the table to retrieve the iron, but no damage done (unlike Chucho García).

Strip Joint:   Rubén arrives with Fabian and a metal briefcase.  He heads for the office behind the place and Fabian closes and locks the door. [Anita was unaware that this is *his* place—she thought he was just a patron the other night.  It might have been revealed during some 40 winks.]  Rubén opens the briefcase and grins at the sight of mucho dinero, which he inhales as your recapper would inhale Shalimar.  He grins and tosses a wad of cash to Fabian and tells him to smell it.  He’s pleased that the “merchandise” was delivered safely.  [So, this guy is even slimier than Viewerville originally thought and he’s up to his cuello in dirty dealings.]

Bruno’s Hotel Room:   A knock; it's Giuliano, who asks the nature of the emergency.  Bruno tells him he can't go through with Giuliano’s plan for him to hastily marry Wendy to get at her parents’ money. [Does *anyone* see any similarity between this and AV's Pavia family? And how well did that work out for them!]  Of course, this riles Giuliano, who is tired of his “weakness.”   He asks whether Bruno spilled the beans to Don Justo, because it certainly sounded like it when Justo confronted him.  OJ doesn't buy his “weak” denial.  He tells him that he’d better not betray him or Wendy will pay!  [Al Capone would be ashamed of you for that, Giuliano].   He demands an answer.

Street in Mexico City:  Maria and Jorge Alfredo talk about the money, finally agreeing to let it rest.  A truck stops, a horn blows and someone yells out “Santos.” It's Rigoberto saying hello.  Egad, we thought he was dead! (QEPD, Raul Padilla "Choforo").

The above is Urban Anthropologist’s recap.

Continued with Anita's recap.

Street in Mexico City:  From out of the inky shadows steps a lone stranger [Ooops, don’t know what I was thinking, sorry]…From behind the truck pops Fernando to the rescue.  Santos? You mean Jorge Alfredo.  The mix-up in names is glossed over as in Saints above!!  It’s hard to tell if Maria bought it, but she’s enjoying the diversion.  Introductions are made all around that this is the guy JA rode with to come to Mexico.  Rigoberto is surprised to find out JAntos is making his living as a mariachi—but then he *is* still wearing his traje de charro.  Riggo is on another run, but wants to take the time to chat.  Maria starts to excuse herself to go to the hospital, but JA won’t let her.  Fernando to the rescue. He volunteers to take Riggo to the pension and chat until JA gets back.

Garza Mansion:  Family confab.  Wendy is moping that she didn’t get to tell Bruno about the pregnancy.  Dad says give him time.  She’s sure something is up.  He sounded really strange on the phone and hasn’t called her back. Mom says, well, that’s understandable, jail changes you.  Dad promises to accompany her to see him if they don’t hear from him after a couple of days.  Wendy goes off to rest.  Dad feels terrible about having to lie to her.  Mom says it’ll be even worse when she finds out the father of her child is the one responsible for all this family misfortune.

Bruno’s Hotel Room:  Orange Julius tells his two-faced, rat fink cousin that it’s too late, he can’t turn back.  Bruno says that it’s too bad, Vapid Wendy is the only thing he cares about. He's not going to marry her and OJ had better not put the squeeze on her.  There’s not going to be a wedding.  Everybody loses something, and Bruno is going to lose Wendy.  OJ claps.  Bravo. Excellent performance.  But they live in the real world (read that..Mundo Mafioso) and with them, you don’t mess around.  Bruno tries again, Wendy doesn’t have anything to do with that.  Oh, no, wonders OJ, and where do you think we’re going to get those $10,000,000 USD to repay el Padrino, eh?

Garza Mansion:  Don Justo calls Derecho and asks him to come to the house.  It’s important.  Derecho is on his way.  Justo tells him about Bruno’s confession.  He knows that’s not enough, but it’s a start.  Derecho is on it.  He’ll have OJ by the short and curlies in no time.  He never leaves a case unsolved.  Back in the police station, Derecho begs his supervisor permission to follow up on Bruno and his lawyer.  Boss says, yes, yes, of course, he doesn’t need this pressure. Track them down. Right away, boss, and thank you.

Rubén’s Strip Joint:  Rubén is telling Fabian about running into Vargas at Maria’s.  It was ugly. Vargas knows I’m investigating him, but Vargas said he’s looking into me, too. Fabian is worried that he might find out about Rubén's bad bidness.  Rubén’s not worried.  If he gets too close to finding out, he’ll just get rid of him. Fabian is not too convinced it'll be that easy.

Hospital:  Amalia, Maria and Jorge Alfredo are still talking about money and debts.  The convo quickly turns to motive.  JA assures Amalia that he loves Maria and wants to be a stand-in papi for Isa.  Amalia is frustrated with him.  First he hurts Maria then he’ll turn around to hurt and disillusion Isabel when he leaves.  He protests that he’s coming back.  Amalia says and who knows when; children don’t have a concept of time, only of abandonment.  She begs him not to make her daughters suffer.  She reminds him that "Love is not enough" (is this Universal Cliché #1?) and she still firmly believes that he is hiding something that could ruin her daughters’ futures.

Viewerville is now treated to a time-waster/filler, but Cute, cute, cute scene where JAntos entertains Isabel and Maria with a story of a princess cursed by a witch to be imprisoned in the moon, but is rescued by her prince charming by singing to her.

Mancia’s Headquarters:  Susano is showing off his new rebellious self.  He refuses to wear a favorite flowered jacket of Mancia’s choosing.  He reappears later, dressed as usual—plaid shirt and jeans.  He watches mamacita working with her herbs and scents.  She tells him she’s packing an amulet of love, guaranteed to work.  She surprises Susanito by giving it to him, saying that she now realizes he’s no longer her baby boy, but a man.

El Bar JNTR:  Viewerville is treated to another time-waster/filler, but Dumb, dumb, dumb where Pichi and Lalo are trying out a new comedy-dance routine on stage, hoping they won’t get caught.  They do.  Mirna yells at them to get back to work.  She needs to know how many bottles of booze on the shelf, how many bottles of booze—not only that but she wants them to measure the amount of booze in each bottle, since they have to get 35 drinks out of each, so hop to it.

Bruno’s Hotel Room:  Bruno sends Santos an e-mail.  Santos needs to get in touch with him right away, pronto.

Hospital:  Story time is over.  Jorge Alfredo is compelled to tell Isa that he has to return to El Lay, to his family, to his mother to settle some pressing affairs.  He promises to return, but (as we were warned), that isn’t good enough for Isabel. She accuses him of breaking his promise to be her papi.  She needs him here now, not there. She doesn’t want him to leave, leave her.  Her anger and sadness cannot be assuaged and she tells JA that if he leaves, she won’t love him any more.  Forget about it, she never even wants to see him again. Maria urges JA to leave the room.  Isa ends her soliloquy by saying she feels alone and nobody loves her.  Maria tries, but can’t get Isa to listen to reason. Isa says she’s lost the best papi in the world. Maria sits down to talk to her about her fears.  She's afraid, too, to lose Jorge Alfredo. He's a good man, a man of his word. They have to trust him and have faith. After that pep talk, they swear a sisters’ pact.

Comm. Derecho’s Office:  Viewerville is treated to still another time-waster/filler, but oh so inappropriate behavior on Lt. Curtis’ part.  [Recapper will spare you the details, but it involves dinner, tickets to a musical show and juaréver.  He turns her down.  He likes his domestic routine of dinner and music at home.  She tries to slit her wrists with the edge of the tickets.]

Fernando’s Hideaway:  Fernando and Rigoberto are having a Mexican kaffeklatch. Their conversation is mostly about Santos.  Fern learns how he got to Mexico and how he had to hide his identity from the beginning.  Riggo is glad that Santos found good people to help him.  Fern says it’s all well and good, but he needs to go back to El Lay to face justice and clear his name before he can live happily ever after.  Riggo says he’ll be delivering his load and returning to el sta – tes day after tomorrow.  Fern thinks it would be great for Santos to go back with him.

Santos arrives and greets Riggo again—what a scare you gave me, man.  Santos says he feels like a rolling stone (no, not one of Them), but he wants it to stop.  Riggo suggests he go back to el otro lado with him and take care of things. [Viewerville still would like to know how he’s going to get back across the border.]  There’s no better chance than to do it with Riggo.  The Jorge Alfredo part of Santos agrees, but he needs to settle some things with Maria and Isa before he can go back.  Riggo is happy Santos found the love of his life here in his beloved Mexico.  At this point, Fern steps in, frustrated with Santos.  There is nothing to think about, or settle, just do it. FIX YOUR LIFE (is this Universal Cliché #2?). Fern is not going to tolerate Santos continually hurting everyone around him and making them suffer, so day after tomorrow—he’s going.

Jorge Alfredo shoots back at Fern that he’s been the victim in all this.  They end up yelling at each other until Riggo steps in, tranquilo, you guys—Basta! [Recapper agrees.  It sounds like the needle is stuck in a record groove on the old victrola in Maria’s apartment.] Riggo says forcefully, that if Santos wants to be happy, he can’t keep postponing his return to El Lay.

Mendoza Apartment:  Amalia is working on the household budget out loud.  Too much money owed to Rubén and Jorge Alfredo.  Paloma comes in, hears her and tells her she wants to cancel her cinceañera party.  Amalia is shocked.  This is something Paloma has dreamed about since she was a little girl.  Ni modo. She wants to do it, to help with the finances.  Up to now Maria has been the one shouldering the financial burden. Please let her do her part now. No fiesta.

The phone rings.  It’s Gloria asking for Maria.  She finds out about Isabel's accident.  Gloria decides to go to the hospital to visit, so Rodde can’t go on his play date with Vanessa. When he hears that something happened to one of the Mendoza sisters, he thinks it’s Paloma.  He’s relieved to know it’s not.

Hospital:  Maria is feeding Isa [Hey, recapper thought it was an abdominal incision—she can’t use her hands?]. Mama and Paloma arrive (so we know one of the avances—Gloria and Rodde show up while they are there). Amalia is so grateful that they can all still be together as a family. Isa chirps up and asks her mother if Jorge Alfredo can be part of the family, too when he returns. Amalia is left speechless until the next episode.

Other Avances: Dr. Mike menaces a patient with a scalpel.  Elvira disrobes, gets wet and receives three major boffetadas from Maria. Viewerville gets a brief look at a shirtless Jorge (Alfredo or Salinas, depending on your fantasies).

Anita:

Yes, I am up late amiga! Thanks for your great, marvelous parte uno.

I really thought that JAntos would be caught, but it was only his buddy the truck driver. He sure looked panicked but I liked Mil Amores saying oh, you must mean JAntos right, right? Too funny. It was great to see this actor though, but sad.

I swear Rueben is reminding more and more of Lastra. I know this TN isn't Refugio but there are some comparisons. Does Rueben or his buddy own this club? I'm beginning to think since Rueben has these dollars he is somehow involved with the Godfather or OJ.

Poor Irasema. I have to say I really like her and the pain and agony she is going through is so very sad. Susanito's too. I hope they find some way to work it out. He really needs to get away from his crazy Mama. She needs to do something else with her time, the Mama that is.

Can't wait for your parte dos.

Oh, and loved your title.

I am wondering at the nature of the "merchandise." It could be related to the Godfather, but I am more concerned at how this will ultimately affect Maria. Strip joints and other places that attract desperate women can also be sites for human trafficking. Someone attractive and virginal like Maria (who also has a virginal younger sister) would be prime "merchandise" to someone like this.

No, I can't recall any hints prior to this that Ruben owns this place.

Madelaine--You got an early start. I'm working as fast as I can on Cap. 48. What you read was Urban's work. I *did* do a marvelous job posting it!

See you all later.

Urban:

Thank you for the first part of this recap. I shouldn't stay up so late and comment : )

Oh, Urban, I just hope this doesn't bode ill for our poor Maria or Paloma. You are right, Maria is very virginal and naïve. I am hoping that the story line doesn't go that way. The poor girl has enough to deal with on a daily basis. I'd like to see her and JAntos be happy for at least a week or two before more stuff hits the fan.

The whole thing of Ruben paying Almira's hospital bill stank to high heaven. The intent to create obligation is so clear.

We already have a prostitute in the story who does this out of desperation. Nobody like Maria should be driven to this and if Santos doesn't expose Ruben completely would it not be interesting if Irasema could?

Anita- Looking forward to reading the rest of the recap later when you have it up.

So Ruben has shady businesses on the side, and it involves strippers and wads of cash. Hmmm...

I don't think Maria would be in danger of being dragged into that life since she has like 12 big brothers (Jantos and the rest of the mariachis) looking out for her. Like Camila in AB and all the ranch guys looking out for her.

Ok, the first parte of Cap. 48 is up. There wasn't much to report, but 30 min. to go through was a lot. Be back in a couple of hours.

Anita:

Thanks for your parte uno. Wanna bet Mamacita put stay away from my boy herbs in Susanito's little charm, lol. I am glad he is standing up to her.

Oh, that Rueben is really bad. Get rid of JAntos? I'd like to see him try. I think Fabian is right there.

I wonder how much time Bruno has left? I really don't think he will marry Wendy. I have to give him kudos here for standing firm, no matter what OJ says. Where is the other dude? Have we seen him lately? At least Michael is in prison. Not a safe place but well away from OJ and the Godfather, hopefully.

I hope at some point Amalia finds out what Concho did as far as not giving her the profits that belong to her from that bar. The poor woman is stressing out wondering how she is going to pay back skanky Rueben.

Interesting the resemblance to Lastra. I don't think Reuben the Weasel is thinking of the sex trade for Maria and he doesn't pay any attention to the pretty Paloma. I thought that the suitcase of cash might have been from drugs. I also wondered about a tie in with OJ and the GF. If that turns out to be true JAntos will have real problems and back aways didn't Reuben mention having business in LA.

If this weeks shows were shown at Christmas time in Mexico we have a hell of along way to go and the plot lines at this point are too thin to carry us that far without as much filler as we got last night. If Uni must cut chop any scene with the dizty cop and her concert tickets, the furniture moving and dsancing mariachis and the fairly tale could have been considerably reduced.

I've been thinking we are going to be hit with one of those awful TNC's (Telenovela clishe's) - the accident and resulting amnesia and the victim will be JAntos. They made a big point last night of Isa wanting a popi and being very upset that JA was going to leave and go back to LA and it would be like with Pedro she'd never see him again. If he gets in an accident and disappears for a while her worst fears will be realized.

Amelia is once again waffling about JAntos. I can't understand why she seems so much more respectful of Reuben when she has to know his objective is to get to Maria. I'm also wondering if she will make it through to the end. How else can JAntos end up as Isa's popi.

Who knew that Blubbering Bruno would still have enough of a conscience not to want to marry Whiney Wendy to get his hand on Garza money. This novela has been surprisingly body free and I can't help but think sooner or later Bruno will be sleeping with the fishes.

It looked to me that maybe Mancia is ready to let her little boy grow up and he does seem to be standing up to her. I don't think she put stay away herbs in the love bundle since she probably hopes he will find a nice pure girl she can dominate. Had she knows he interest had been in Irasema then for sure it would hasve been go away and drop dead.

Now Gloria and Rod are off to the hospital to visit Isa. Any takers that Oscar will show up for the same purpose and put together the fact that Rod is his son.

Oh, Decie--I hadn't thought about a father and son reunion! That would be great. Especially if Amalia is still there to talk some sense into him. But does she know? I can't remember if Gloria only told Maria. Maria is going to be busy slapping the H*** out of Elvira tonight! No spoiler--it was in the avances.

Anita

I'm waiting for that slapfest between Sweet Maria and SlutE and I just hope that Maria will realize who the instigator of the co-ed shower is and not go into one of her blame the victim, we're through tantrums.

If Oscar shows up when Gloria and son are in the hospital I don't think he will say anything at the time just add two and two and only if someone mentions that Rod is Gloria's son. He met Rod with Paloma ans may be dense enough to think that he is only there because of her and not make the Gloria connection. And you are right only Maria knows Gloria's story.

You mentioned yesterday that Roberto Palezuelos may be coming into his own as a villian with those cold eyes of his. I agree but he need to lose the pouty mouth mouth thing he does and just use his eyes. Marcelo Buquet as Rueben certainly doesn't come across as a really bad villian but he was horrible in Corzon Apasionat. That one was incredibly violent for an afternoon show and in it he raped his stepdaughter, had a major thing for another one of them, slept with his niece and for good measure comitted a handful of murders.

Anita:

Thanks for your marvelous parte dos.

I wish JAntos would just return to El Lay but we just know that won't be good.

I can understand Mil Amores being frustrated with JAntos but let the poor guy make up his own plans. Riggo is a good guy and can find some way to get him into the EEUU. That would be better instead of the water route or the death train.

I have reached my limit with the skanky Elvira, please! She'll be a noose around JAntos' neck for how much longer???? The next thing I'm expecting from her is being preggers, just a thought, not a spoiler. Won't Concho and Lourdes have a cow? I hope Maria slaps her but good.

I wonder who Dr. Mike is threatening with a scalpel? Maybe one of OJ's henchies?

I don't think Bruno will be alive much longer and I don't think Wendy will have the bebe. Maybe escaleraside or something and she blames Santos and vows revenge for her bebe and Bruno's deaths. I can't see Wendy being a mother.

I wonder how Irasema got hooked up with the prostitution life. Perhaps she got a job at JNTR and was lured away by Ruben, forced to work in the strip club and ultimately to prostitute?

Ruben did mention LA and I too think he has something to do with the Godfather. Some kind of way OJ has to come to Mexico & cause problems for JANtos...right now he's too far away.

Derecho made a right hand turn at Justo's revelations, and Curtis continues to act a fool.

UrbanA/Anita: These are great, but I just realized I fell asleep and didn't watch last night's yet. Will get back to you after! LOL! BTW, you can stick a fork in me cuz I am so done with Susanito wallowing in depression over the hooker. Dumb story line, but even dumber to carry it out this long.

So far for the past two days with what I did see I got a few much appreciated giggles out of:

Urban:
"A few besos we almost feel with what must be a lot of horizontal intent. [Por favor, Santos; not in your suegra's apartment.] " My thoughts exactly! Ay!

Rubén opens the briefcase and grins at the sight of mucho dinero, which he inhales as your recapper would inhale Shalimar.  What a despcriptive phrase--you hit a home with that one!
==========
Anita:
"but then he *is* still wearing his traje de charro." That charro suit should be pretty frayed by now!

Decie Girl--It was UA who mentioned our orange-colored villain. He's been going great guns as a villain. I first saw him in MEPS and that was enough for me to type him forever.

As for Marcelo, I saw him as Fernando Carrillo's side kick in Maria Isabel before I saw him in Corazon Apasionado (which I bailed on half-way through--it was worse than El Tal with no comedic relief). He was a bland, but decent guy in MI. I was revolted by him in CA. Here is is playing a smooth operator very well; a self-made business (although shady) man, fancy house, kept wife, children, chauffeured car--everything someone would want to pass himself off as a few rungs higher in the social order. We don't know what he had to do to get to that position, but it probably doesn't matter. I agree, he's good in this role.

Someone mentioned JAntos making a promise to Isa that he might not be able to keep. Made me think of Maria making a promise to Gloria to take in Rodeigo if anything happens to her. This from someone whose family hasn't got two peso's to rub together and exactly where did she think the boy would be sleeping in that dinky little apartment.

Mads--Thanks for staying up and parsing this with us. Ruben owning the club must have appeared in a scene that was deleted here, that's the only thing I can think of.

UA and others--I'm very suspicious of the "merchandise" Ruben is trading for cash, too. With the depths to which Mexico is embroiled in drug traffic, that makes it the legitimate choice.

I've seen some documentaries and at least one novela (Montecristo) dealing with el robo de ninos. We know it's real and it happens. Paloma would be the right age 12-15 or thereabouts. Ruben didn't seem interested in her, but it's hard to tell, maybe he wanted to get close to Maria and gain her trust before doing something really despicable. On the other hand, he may not need to get his hands dirty. He lets folks like Leo the Low's henchmen pick out the girls.

Anon207--Irasema (although Kat is right, she looked older in the flashback) was probably too young at the time her mother died to have finished school or have been prepared for other jobs. The problem also might have been that she had to take care of the little brothers during the day, so nighttime works was all that was available to her. But still--that's no reason for her to think prostitution was going to be their salvation, unless there was a pimp involved to lure her.

If she ever worked in Ruben's strip club, she probably would have stayed there or gotten set up as a call girl, or even waitress--good help is hard to find. Street walkers are at the bottom of the "escort" ladder.

Arnold is definitely MIA. Justo and Derecho only talked about Bruno and el abogado, ese.

Decie Girl--Since this is a Mejia production, anything is possible and sometimes the corniest are the ones most often used. In that vein, I vote for either a trailer accident and JAntos suffers a coma and/or amnesia or he gets caught by the border patrol and taken to a special place to be "questioned" about associates, or simply taken right to a detention camp to be deported and neither Derecho nor Justo are notified.

I'm so done with Elvira, too. It must be the idea of a conquest that keeps her coming back--or to sic it to Maria, she certainly gets plenty of action from Coloso. Yep, pregnancy would be a fly in the ointment (sorry, bad metaphor).

Anita

Too bad you bailed on CA. I got involved in the middle and kept going back. Were you still watching when Marcelo's character got mauled by a Bengal tiger in the middle of a Mexican jungle. Hilariously funny and he survived! I think someone smothered him but he had more lives than a cat so who knows. LOL

Elvira has some grudge against Maria that we haven't heard the details of. That's what this is all about.

I hope when Santos finds Vampira in the shower tonight he yells at her. Since Maria is nearby that would be the necessary thing to do to let her know he didn't invite this ho.

He should also forget he's a gentleman for long enough to call her that.

he was horrible in Corzon Apasionat. That one was incredibly violent for an afternoon show and in it he raped his stepdaughter, had a major thing for another one of them, slept with his niece and for good measure comitted a handful of murders.

That would be one for the books.

Palazuelos' villain in Nina Amada Mia entered a bad deal with his future suegro, marrying the youngest daughter by force to get his finances taken care of. He raped the bride on their honeymoon and tried to kill the guy who truly loved her. He then had an affair with his step-suegra and both tried to commit business fraud. He got his just desserts in the end.

Coldest eyes ever.

C’mon, stop it, you’re scaring me, amigas. If lovely little Paloma gets sold into the sex trade, or heaven forbid Isa, who is also of the age when little girls get snatched, I’m not going to be able to keep watching. Some Valentine THAT would be. Hmpf.

Just a thought on the meeting at the strip club. Maybe Ruben doesn’t own it, but they rent out meeting rooms? Okay, I’m kidding about that, but somehow him owning a club when he spends so much time at someone else’s bar just doesn’t make sense to me. I also think he is too class conscious to be directly involved in anything that slimy and he is too much of a high roller to be involved in anything that small scale. I think he is money laundering (so now it smells fresh and clean?) or involved in drug trafficking. He’s been repeatedly referred to as ‘influential’. I think he’s in cahoots with the mafia or narco lords.

Jardinera, that charro suit would be pretty frayed and also pretty ripe by now. He might look good, but don’t get close enough to get a whiff.

I can’t wait for the slapfest this evening. Is it too much to hope for an end to the Elvira wash, rinse, repeat cycle to get put to rest with Maria and Santos both telling her they see right through her and nothing she can do will break them up? Unfortunately, I think I know the answer to that.

Sooner or later, Oscar, Gloria and Rod are going to bump into each other. I can almost hear the blood calling already.

Many thanks to the double team of UA and Anita for another fine recap!

Decie Girl--The only one I was watching was Carlos Guillermo Haydon who played Diego, Lorena’s nephew. He didn't have enough screen time for me or I would have watched more. I was traveling a lot on vacation, too, so it wasn't worth it to try to catch up. I tried hard to like Armando, but he was miscast (sorry Guy, your days as a young galan are just OVER).

UrbanA/Anita: A terrific tag team! Loved it!!! I've finally finished the QBA from last night. Thank you for the detail--especially since I my VCR crapped out and I had to watch Mon's sin CC. Oi vey!

IMHO:
"Riggo says forcefully, that if Santos wants to be happy, he can’t keep postponing his return to El Lay." True dat and I am tired of the will I or won't I crap. He's finally gotten his ride back and it is FREE!! No excuses or I will lose all respect for JAntos!! Besides, it's time we moved to the next etapa!

Gracias Anita and UA. Getting caught up before tonight.

"Juaréver" indeed on any scene involving Curtis. They actually had me hoping she was gone when Derecho showed up to talk to Justo alone.

Count me in as missing any connection between Ruben and the strip club as well. From the way the ladies greeted him, I just thought he was a regular. But then, if he's the boss, why not have a VIP booth instead of just a table? It could be a combination of money laundering and drugs...either he's dealing or someone else is and the club is how the money is laundered.
