Amores Verdaderos #146 Wed 6/5/13 A Perfect Day for Love, A Perfect Day for Murder

In which:
  • Victoria and Arriaga exchange vows of love and then fret over how to tell the kids.
  • Lili keeps pestering Guzmán and rejecting Roy
  • Bea and Guillo are reunited
  • Aníbal pays Lili for her silence and in doing so, antagonizes Candelaria.
  • Nabila's life proves nasty, brutish and short

Idyll in Cuernavaca
Nelson is gone and Victoria is uneasy about what he might do next.  Arriaga tells her they can think about the outside world tomorrow. This is their first night together.  They kiss.  Awww.

The Kitchen of the Balvanera Mansion
Liliana turns a deaf ear to Roy, insisting that she only has eyes for her Frankie.  Maybe she and Roy had something at one time but he ruined it with his lies.  For his part, Roy can't believe she's rejecting him for a guy who doesn't love her.  Doesn't she get it that Guzmán and Nikki are in love with each other? (That is, they are both 10's.) He, Roy the Boy, is the one is love with her!  (That is, he and Lili are both 6's, maybe 7's.)

Liar! shoots back Lili, so irate that she follows with this contrary to fact conditional using an imperfect subjunctive in both the "if" and the "then" clause:
Porque si de verdad sintieras algo por mí, no te hubieras casado con Nikki.
(Because if you really felt something for me (but you don't!), you wouldn't have married Nikki! (but you did!))

"I screwed up", admits Rolando.  "I married Nikki for money but you're the girl I love."  If she doesn't believe his words, then maybe she'll believe his kisses.  He grabs her and demonstrates.  At first she resists but then seems to melt.

Nikki and Guzmán pass through the kitchen just in time to see the also-rans swapping spit.

Joan's swanky depa
Adri and Joan giggle over champagne.  They are a lot alike, he thinks -- neither one has gotten over their first love.  Does she think she will ever love again?

Adriana tipsily agrees to dance with Joan.  They move dreamily to the music like people do when they are attracted to one another; then Adri pulls away and, still giggling, takes her leave.

Cuernavaca
Vikki is at her laptop when José Ángel comes behind her, and snuggles, wrapping a shawl around her shoulders.  They read the last lines of the passage on the screen:
Las promesas se cumplieron.  (The promises were kept.)
Los milagros sucedieron.  (Miracles happened.)
"Now I know what it means to feel true love" says Vikki.
[Cut her some slack, you Patio cynics.  Think of all the years the woman has shared a life -- a bed! -- with the Furry Fornicator.]

Balvanera Mansion
Nikki laughs and applauds at the sight of her soon-to-be-ex smooching the garden gnome.  (Even Guzmán appears amused.)  "Bravo!  What a pretty pair!"  Roy looks hurt.  Lili appears shamed and tries to cover herself by blathering:  "It's not what you think -- let me explain …"  Guzmán isn't interested -- it's her life and she owes him no explanations.

Lili tries to run after him but Nikki holds her back.  She thinks it's time for the three of them -- she, Roy and Lili -- to have a little talk.

"We have so much in common," says Nikki, "we're like family."  "You and I?  Family?  No thanks!"

[Snickers are heard here and there on the Patio.  Just you wait, Missy!]

And Lili repeats her delusional mantra: No te voy a dejar el camino libre con Francisco. (I'm not stepping aside to give you a clear path to Francisco.)

Now Lili leaves and Nikki is alone with Roy.  She rubs a little more salt into his wounds -- she reminds him that it won't be easy to win over Arriaga --  and then leaves with an airy "Bye, Royito, Rollero!)

And finally Roy sits alone at the table, a goofy, dreamy expression on his face.  He sighs and whispers:  "I kissed her."

Lili runs to Polita and details her latest humiliation.  Polita takes a whiff of helium and then eggs her on, even composing a Frankie cheer for her friend's use. [¡Guzmán Guzmán! ¡Eres todo un macho man!

Nikki lies in bed and wonders why Lili doesn't get it.  [Yeah.  We all wonder that.]  But then she gives us a ravishing smile when she reflects that she'll be seeing Guzmán the next day.

KendraLand
Nelson, his mouth bruised, his shirt stained with blood, is outraged.  He saw them with his own eyes -- Victoria is an adulteress!  Kendra strolls into the frame with a belly that seems larger than it was a day ago, more giant beach ball than regulation basketball.  She points out the good news: now he can put the screws to Victoria and get a divorce on his terms.  He can even call on Salsero as his witness.

Cuernavaca
Vikki and Arriaga have set out blankets and cushions on the floor; they lie near the warmth of the fireplace, under a white fleecy cover.  "Te quiero, Victoria, te quiero, te quiero."  Awwww.

La Cruz Roja
Guzmán gives Salsero the good news about Guillo. Salsero is sorry he can't be there in the morning when they tell Beatriz.

The sun rises in Cuernavaca and it looks like a perfect day for love.
As birds chirp the dawn, Vikki brings a breakfast tray to Arriaga.  Today they have to go home and tell their daughters and Aníbal their truth.  But Arriaga has two important things to do before then.  The first?  He has to love her very much!  And the second?  She'll find out soon enough.  They kiss.  Awwww.

The sun also rises over KendraLand and it looks like a perfect day for murder.
Nelson and Kendra are asleep under the blood-red quilt when his phone rings.  He emerges all pale and furry to take the call.  Ewwww.  It's a reminder of the photo shoot for UltraBelle.  Nelson repeats the address, jots it down, calls Salsero to pick him up, and runs off to shower.  Kendra seizes the moment and calls Espanto:  Today is the day, she tells him.  She wants a clean job.  And she gives him the address of the shoot, a abandoned convent.

Long-suffering Betty gets a break.  Finally.
The doctor checks him out and now Guillo is well enough to go home with Grandma Paula. But first Grandpa Felipe and Uncle Francisco have a surprise for him …

Beatriz is hoping her latest tests are normal so she can go home too.  She had a dream last night -- it was like a corazonada -- she was on a beautiful beach and she saw Guillo running towards her with a yellow kite (papalote).  He was calling "mamita, mamita".

At that moment we see the real Guillo walking down the hallway and hear him call "mamita!"  Mother and son embrace tearfully, joyfully.  And the icing on the cake -- Bea's doctor announces that her test results are reassuring so she can go home too!
[We wish them well.  We are, however, hoping that Guillo spends most of the next 35 episodes in play therapy. Off camera.]

This is how they did it in his mother's village
Arriaga stumbles down the rocks to the water's edge where Vikki sits.  He is carrying a wreath of flowers.  He explains that in his mother's village, it was a custom for lovers to fling a guirnalda into a lake as an offering to the water so their love would last a very long time.  The two stand at the edge of the lake and recite their vows before nature: they promise commitment and love for the rest of their lives.  Then they toss the wreath into the rushing waters.  Now, says José Ángel, he can kiss the novia.  He does.  Awwwww.

A Bad Girl is Stalked by a Worse Girl
Nabila will have very little time to enjoy her status as the exclusive UltraBelle model.  We catch sight of Espanto watching the shoot from the sidelines. He is disguised as a fruit salad guy having a very bad hair day.

Lili's Surprise
Liliana can't understand why Candelaria has brought her to this place.  And she is even more puzzled when a limo drives up and Aníbal emerges.  He has a surprise for her, he says.  He ties a white silk scarf around her eyes as a blindfold and walks her into … what is this? He takes off the blindfold and she is dazzled -- it is a huge, beautifully stocked plant nursery.  He hands her the keys.  It is all hers!  Lili is thrilled.  She hugs him and then Cande.  Cande looks over Lili's shoulder and glares at Aníbal and shakes her head.  Her obvious disapproval does nothing to discourage Aníbal, who looks immensely pleased with himself.

Love and Music are in the Air
Vikki comes home with an armful of wild flowers.  She is drawn to the sound of the piano and finds Nikki in the music room noodling some tunes.  Mother and daughter greet one another with big, happy hugs.  Vikki shares the piano bench and the two play together.

Arriaga is beaming.  His happiness is contagious and first Polita and then Adriana answer his smile with one just as broad.  Adriana wants to know what happened in Cuernavaca.  "Gentlemen never tell" he answers.  Adri isn't worried -- she can tell from his expression that something important happened.  Besides, Vikki will spill all.

The Ikki's talk about music and love and the intersection of the two.  (It was Guzmán who told Nikki she had to feel the music.)  Vikki tries to prepare her daughter for her news.  She talks about a new stage of life for them, of cambios trascendentales  (significant changes), of listening to their hearts.  Nikki still loves Guzmán, right?  Oh yes, more than ever!  The Ikki's hug.  Let's keep on playing!

So you're going to tell Liliana and Nicole about you and Victoria? asks Adriana.  Arriaga says yes, and it is Lili who is going to suffer the most from the news.  She's very jealous and her mother's death has made her even more sensitive (la tiene muy a flor de piel).  Adriana offers to talk to the girl.  Arriaga is touched.  She reminds him that they are not only friends but soon will be cuñados (brother-in-law  and sister-in-law).

You say reward, I say bribe
Aníbal is giving Lili the vivero as a reward for her hard work and her DISCRETION, that is, for saying nothing to Arriaga about his relationship with Cande.  But he has a secret to tell her:  One day in the not too distant future, he and Candelaria are going to be getting married!  Lili seems delighted.

Here's someone who seems less than delighted -- Candelaria, who has not been privy to the above conversation, gives Aníbal a stony look and announces that Lili can't accept his gift.  It is TOO MUCH.

Baby, you can Can-Can too
The Ikki's are playing a spirited can-can which draws Tomi and Adri dancing in.  Everyone laughs and claps.  Helium-enhanced Polita barrels in, phone in hand.  It's mi güerito chulo  (my cute blondie) on the line for Nikki.  When Polita seems reluctant to let Nikki take the call, Nikki grabs the phone and starts to talk.  Polita follows her and listens intently until Nikki shoos her away.

Meanwhile, Tomasina tells Vikki that Guzmán stopped by the night before and paid in full the money she had loaned him.  Then Adriana and Tomasina corner Vikki: they want to know all the juicy details about Cuernavaca.

A perfect murder
Kendra paces in her apartment.  Why hasn't Espanto called?

While Nabila is posing, Espanto is preparing his weapon -- a drop of poison on a plastic glove.  When Nabila has finished her work, he approaches her with a fruit salad.  She wants no part of it -- she never eats street food.  He assures her that his fruit is disinfected.  And look -- he even wears gloves! He touches her arm with his gloved hand, as if to detain her.  ¡Qué asco!   (How disgusting!)  He got something on her!  She wipes her arm with a panel of her dress and keeps walking.  But within a few steps, she is clutching her heart and appears to be struggling to breathe.  She falls to the ground.  The others in the crew, including Nelson Brizz, surround her.  Someone shouts for a doctor.  Within seconds, the crew doctor is there, listening to her chest.  Nabila is suddenly still.  The doctor announces mournfully:  I'm very sorry.  There's nothing to be done.  (Lo siento mucho.  Ya no hay nada que hacer.)
[Did the doctor get his stethoscope and white coat at the same Halloween Shop Espanto uses?  We'd be upset at his lackadaisical response to the crisis ... but on the other hand, it is Nabila.]

You mean she's dead?  Yes.

Avances:  Vikki tells Nikki about her love for Arriaga.  (Or maybe she does.  Hard to tell.)

NovelaMaven: What a treat to be the first to comment. Perfect Day for Love, Perfect Day for Murder and a Perfect Recap.

So many excellent lines included "the also-rans swapping spit" and "Lili runs to Polita and details her latest humiliation". However, "We'd be upset at his lackadaisical response to the crisis ... but on the other hand, it is Nabila" made me burst out laughing. Your recaps are smart, savvy and savory. I enjoy every single word and phrase...

I could watch JA and Vicky all day. His smile is electrifying and he is so tender and sweet with Vicky. Watching their long denied love blossom is wonderful.

Is anyone keeping score as to what Kendra's death toll count is now? As there are limited episodes ahead, let's hope Nelson doesn't have time to find another lover to be added to the hit list.

During the childish griping and sniping of Nikki and Lili, I was hoping Francisco and Roy would just get up and leave. Nikki, you've won! Don't be so imperious and condescending. Lili, you've lost. Accept defeat graciously - you never, ever had a chance. After all, as NovelaMaven pointed out - like seeks like and 10's seek 10's.Sigh.

Anibal and Cande have made and continue to perpetrate so many secrets and lies, they are starting to become invisible to me. Should they be together, happily ever after? I really don't care.

NovelaMaven: thank you again.

Diana

Novela Maven - Thank you for the recap. Well done. I didn't even notice the imperfect subjunctive last night, although I understood what was said.

Liliana really does not get it, does she? Eejit. Nikki is head cheerleader and Guzman is the quarterback. Prom king and queen. Lili and Roy are just second-string. Hopefully Lili will figure it out soon. Right now I still iike Roy more than I like Lili. Roy knows the score and accepts that. He embraces it.

Ay Carlos/Joan …. still wearing the Thurston Howell III "luke" into the evening. Give it up. Please. Go for 'evening casual' instead. Porfis. Some Dockers,an Izod sport shirt, and TopSiders will do, and still emit the preppie luke, thankyouverymuch.

Julia - Yes. Polita eats Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs with a Red Bull chaser. (LOL the C&H ref.)

Weird Al Yankovich sighting! Oh, wait, it was Espanto.

Geeesh! The doctor on the set didn't even try CPR on Nabila when her heart stopped?! I'm staying north of the border.

Great Recap NM!
Lili, come on girl, this is pathetic...don't do this to yourself!
Roy the boy not half bad.. he's on his way to redemption, has nice hair and it looks as if he has genuine feelings for you.

Get over yourself already and forget your inaccessible notions of you and Guzmancito together.. he's just not that into you, captas ??!
How many times does this have to be told to you?

NovelaMaven- This was the perfect read before I run off to catch my plane to CA. Maybe I should have saved it for the plane, but my seat-mate might wonder what I'm reading that has me so amused and smiley.

I hope that Lili gives up this Francisco obsession soon. Polita needs to stop egging her on. Lili actually had a realistic attitude about her chances with Guzman, until Polita started blowing smoke up her tushy. Now I think Lili is being stubborn about it mostly to get back at Nikki and Roy-- not really because she sees a future with Guzman.

That being said about Lili, I still didn't like Nikki's b*tchy attitude. As mentioned, she won. Just go be happy with Guzman. Lord knows she was likely far more difficult to deal with when SHE was 18.

There was some real chemistry going on with Adri and Carlos when they danced. I like that she left him wanting more. He looked totally confused when she left-- like he couldn't comprehend that he was feeling so attracted to the woman who was the little girl he once knew.

Irisz- I left an message for you on yesterday's CI reap.

See you all next week! I'll be reading the recaps on my phone, but won't be commenting as much.

Vivi - have a good trip!

The 'ikkis were too happy last night, playing piano together, etc.
I can't help but think Nikki will react badly when Vikki tells her about JA? Happiness never last long in telenovelaland.

Novela Maven, Thanks for the marvelous recap. So many good lines and humor but Polita on helium was so true!

Nikki still irks me with her supposed class superiority when she is without facial expressions or much heart but Lilliana is just annoyingly stupid. She didn't have a chance at Guzman before Nikki showed up but even Polita acts like she herself is ready to step in with Guzman if the situation opens up so why shouldn't Lilli be deluded.

I enjoyed the moments of love and tenderness between Angel and Vikki too. Nice contrast with the FurryForni and his continuing woes. I guess I missed the start of the new model attraction while I was off meditating in the mountains last week. Nabilia (sp?) didn't last long enough for me to get her name straight. Kendra is a piece of work though with her beachball belly barely covered in shorts and the over the knee high heeled boots not made for walking but for kicking.

Thank you NM, brilliant recap, succinct, very funny and snarky!

Yeah, I was a little puzzled by Lili's reaction, her still trying to cling to Guzmancito.

Sure, Roy the Boy has been a douche, but she really did like him before she knew the truth, she had chemistry with him, and he seems to be sincere now. Of course I can understand her still being suspicious—the guy admits he was a male gold-digger.

What I don't get is Nikki's bitchiness, but I guess she's just determined to be bitchy to Lili regardless. She won the big prize, Guzman, and she doesn't have ill feelings towards Roy the Boy, so why twist the knife and be so snarky now? At least for Roy the Boy's sake, since she apparently gets along with him now?

While Nikki and Guzmancito are both 10s, I never thought of Guzmancito as *thinking* of himself as a 10. I don't see Guzman as being that aware of what "level" he *should* be at. Nikki, yes. She's very aware of her looks, has been a model, and is very competitive that way. She's said that she couldn't understand why Guzman would like Lili, when she (Nikki) is obviously prettier. (BITCH!) And both Roy the Boy and Lili, while not stunners like Guzman and Nikki, are attractive and good looking. I don't think a Roy/Nikki pairing or Guzman/Lili pairing would seem so odd. It's not like we're talking about some withered old geezer with a Playboy model wife, or some dowdy middle-aged woman with a 20-something hottie guy here.

But regardless, Lili's insistent pursuit of Guzman, when it's clear she LOST, is unseemly. And after enthusiastically swapping spit with Roy the Boy moments before! Silly girl! Roy the Boy has far more common sense in this situation.

What kind of drops did Kendra and Espanto use to kill Nabila? They seem to act within seconds!

doris: Thurston Howell III "luke" had me howling. Oh my gosh - that was sidebar worthy.

Vivi, safe travels - hope you can back to commenting soon. You will be missed.

Cheryl, so good to see your post.

Karen, are you still watching?

Diana

NovelaMaven, the recap is a masterpiece and this is so funny... but a bit chilling as well:

" ... but on the other hand, it is Nabila."

I don't know who scares me most, you or that Dr.:

""Yep, she's dead... next!"

I thoroughly enjoyed Nikki last night. She actually makes bitchy preciously cute. She's our Nikki after all.

On the other hand, Yawn/Carlos is creeping me out more and more. He's a sniffer for goodness sake!

Arriaga's sniffing... cute.

Carlos' sniffing... yikes!

Carlos

Good morning everyone and thank you for your lovely words!

I've been scarce these past few days for the best of reasons -- the kids, in cahoots with Mr. Maven, orchestrated a birthday visit, with the kid who lives within driving distance arranging airport pick-up for the ones flying in.

It was hard to go from my pleasant birthday cake and champagne stupor back to hard-nosed reporting you have come to expect from NovelaMaven. But I have done my best.

(Though I still have some catching up to do on the recaps.)

Diana:

"I could watch JA and Vicky all day. His smile is electrifying and he is so tender and sweet with Vicky."

I know. (hee hee) But I had to put the other stuff in the recap to keep the rest of the crowd on the Patio happy.

Doris:

"Weird Al Yankovich sighting! Oh, wait, it was Espanto." "the Thurston Howell III "luke", "Yes. Polita eats Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs with a Red Bull chaser."

So what did YOU eat for breakfast this morning?

irisz79:

I hope Lili reads this blog. She sure needs to be getting advice from someone besides Polita ;)

Vivi:

Safe and happy travels! I wonder if Lili will have moved on by the time you are back.

CherylNewMex:

Hey, I didn't know you were here! Nice!

So Nikki bugs you? Not me, for some reason. Even when she is being a brat, she makes me giggle.

"even Polita acts like she herself is ready to step in with Guzman if the situation opens up"
You betcha!

Lady Elvira:

I don't blame Lili for being suspicious of Roy. His turnaround was awfully quick, even for a telenovela character.

In defense of Nikki, she has a real grievance against both Lili (for lying about her to Guzmán) and Roy (for exploiting her insecurity and marrying her for her money).

She is the kind of person who avoids direct conflict but holds onto her anger and takes oblique jabs when she can. Gah. Maybe she'll work it out on the couch. Or with her therapist. ;)

Gobluefan from OH:
We don't know the name of the poison, though such things DO exist, unfortunately.

Carlos:

"I don't know who scares me most, you or that Dr"

Moi?

I have to hand it to you. You know cute when you see it.

NovelaMaven – Happy Birthday! Thanks for fitting a snazzy recap into your family celebration. Love the snark, always appreciate the vocab. Some of my favorites:

“garden gnome”

“more giant beach ball than regulation basketball.”

“hoping that Guillo spends most of the next 35 episodes in play therapy. Off camera.”

Lili’s beauty scale riseswith me when she’s rejecting Roy but drops when she’s mooning over Guzman. Lili needs some new friends cause Polita ain’t helping. ITA that Lili is digging in her heels about Guzman now more because of Nikki’s attitude. But then Nikki has always had a 'tude with Lili, even when she had no reason.

Nikki likes Supersuperman and knows her own daddy is a dawg, so maybe she’ll be alright with Vickie’s news. How can Nikki deny her mom her bodyguard love when her mom has been so supportive of Nikki’s own bodyguard love? But Nikki sure won’t want Lili as an in-law.

I think JA sold Lili short when he said she was jealous. Wasn’t Lili just trying to get Adriana together with her dad? There’s certainly no jealousy on that front.

Doris – “Thurston Howell III "luke" – lol

Top-notch recap, NM. Funny, funny, funny.

Nikki has won and has no need to be petty, but she has such a resentful-siblings type relationship with Lili, I think she can hardly help herself from taking those jabs. What will happen when they are not only stepsisters, but also cousins by both Lili's nature and nurture moms? I envision family road trips with the two of them in the backseat screeching "Nikki keeps putting her hand on MY side of the seat!" and "Lili won't let me have any Red Vines!"

Adios, Nubile-a. We hardly knew ye, and yet, it was more than we wanted to know ye. Has any doctor ever made LESS effort to save a patient?

Happy birthday NovelaMaven! May you live long, prosper, and (selfishly) never tire of writing your spectacular recaps...

Aribeth: your links provided the perfect pick me up today. I can think of far worse things than having to "suffer" through a long, hot day of filming with Eduardo... ;)

Niecie your comment that Nikki "knows her own daddy is a dawg" was spot on!

Diana

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes, Niecie and Diana! Alas, the party is over. Even the granddog has packed up her bones and liver treats and gone home. There is, happily, a bit of strawberry icecream cake left in the freezer. :)

Niecie, I'm with Diana on your comment about Nikki -- "[she] knows her own daddy is a dawg." So perfect. It should be a lyric in a new song to accompany this final stage of the novela.

It's true about Lili's beauty level waxing and waning. To me, she is least attractive when she in being a brat. (Well, to be fair, that probably applies to most of us.)

Julia, as usual you manage to crack me up with your image of the family road trip as well as your "eulogy" for Nabila:

"We hardly knew ye, and yet, it was more than we wanted to know ye.

Aribeth:
Thanks for the links!

NM, we missed you and your snappy comments yesterday and the day before. Sounds like your birthday surprise was really fun, though. You haven't lost your touch. Enjoyed your recap.

I loved the ones Niece repeated--beachballs, gnomes and Guillo off camera.

Now, when you're all caught up, please tell us what Lili eats for breakfast, In Your Humble Opinion.

I think the Lili thing not giving up Guzmi is to make it even harder for her and Nikki to resolve their blood relationship later on--just a little more drama coming our way.

I think Anibal went waaaay tooooo far with Liliana's gift. She just turned 18 (or now a little past that) and he's giving her a whole nursery, fully stocked, to operate? It would have been more realistic for her to be overwhelmed and not accept it.

But we also got poisons that work in minutes after touching your skin. Having to believe in quick working poison had me hunting for my beanie--I had taken it off completely to watch Vikki and Arriaga loving each other all day and all night.

Shucks, Anita. Thank you.

Lili's breakfast? In my Humble Opinion? Early on, I would have said crunchy granola sweetened with honey, of course.

Lately, she seems to be wolfing down GREEN eggs and ham. Lots of ham.

The poison? I'm hoping Espanto has a little oopsie with the vial when he and Kendra are huddled together plotting their next attack.

(I know some of you would consider this exit too kind, better than Kendra deserves. Well. Let it be known right now -- in spite of what Carlos has been telling you, NovelaMaven wouldn't mind a bit seeing Macaria Chavez shuffle off this mortal coil in precisely this way. Because that's just the kind of gal she -- i.e. NM -- is.)

NovelaMaven: While I "talk the talk" about vile individuals getting what they deserve, I shrink from any type of excruciating pain and suffering. Even though she was a monster, I didn't feel Babs (MEPS) deserved the horrible burning disfigurement she received.

If Kendra is to die, I think your ending is perfect. An eye for an eye and in the manner that she herself chose to claim her victim's lives. As Anita pointed out, that poison worked within seconds.

For me, being outcast, peniless and in true despair is one of the worst things that can befall someone. For Kendra, who is morally bankrupt, without a conscience and who craves luxury and fame, being shunned and reviled by all those she aspired to be a part of might be her worst fate.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Diana

Thank you for the great recap and on your birthday, party and all---
you're amazing.
There were sure a lot of Awwww's last night.
You cracked me up when you wrote---
We are, however, hoping that Guillo spends most of the next episodes in play therapy. Off camera.
Garden Gnome---LOL So funny.
yes, Esplanto looked like he was having a very bad hair day.

Carlos---You got some really nice/big smiles last night.

Gobluefan---Don't know the poison, I'm not a poison expert but I'm sure that there are some fast acting pentrating poisons available
if you know where to look or know a chemist.

Aribeth---Thanks for the links, you always find great ones.

Julia---Your family road trip was a hoot--so very funny.
the gringo

Diana,

My goodness, you are the kindest person in our little community, whether you "talk the talk" or not. The problem is that Kendra is already "shunned and reviled." And yet she keeps on hurting people.

She is so resourceful that even jail would not necessarily be enough to stop her.

I also want to keep her from telling all of Salsero's secrets. Salsero has done enough good -- at least in my book -- to balance out the bad and he deserves a chance with Betty. He won't get that chance if a vengeful Kendra is still around to prevent it.

Thanks for the nice words, Gringo. I'm glad you didn't mind my poking some fun at your Little Orchid. You're right -- there were more than enough Awwww's to satisfy the Vikki/Arriaga crowd last night.

When Espanto showed the poison to Kendra in an earlier episode, he told her that it was extracted from a fish and that one drop was enough to kill a horse. I'm going to guess that it is tetradotoxin that is the poison contained in puffer fish. It is a rapid acting potent neurotoxin that is deadly in quite small amounts. I've never encountered a case in which it was involved but I doubt that in real life (and death) it is quite as rapid acting as it was with poor Nabila.

For me this was another example of these writers flexing their muscles and saying, "Hey, we're willing to kill anyone so don't take us for granted." They killed Cristine, they're killing Paula, they killed the odd bad guy or two, and of course shot poor Leo down like a mad dog. No one is completely exempt... I'm looking at you Guillo.

I'm still reeling over that Dr.'s decisiveness, Wow!

Carlos

These writers are as merciless as the writers of En Nombre de Amor in the characters they will kill off. ANYONE could be next! Only *possibly* excepting the four leads. Watch your back, Polita.

Aribeth's links to AV cast pictures and movie clips does show a big spoiler for one of the major characters. Careful!

Oh, I'm sorry. I checked the links beforehand to make sure I would't spoil anything, but I may have missed something.

Which link contains the spoiler? One of the videos?

Oh, I see. The last three links at the EY fansite are a little bit dangerous indeed. The photos about Arriaga and Vicky don't contain spoilers, but don't scroll down to the "related posts" at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the heads-up, Gobluefan.

Aribeth, I went ahead and deleted your original post because people might read it and check out the links without noticing your warning further down the page. Sorry. Go ahead and repost without the potential spoilers if you like.

Okey-dokey...

I removed the links to the photos.

Carlos and Julia,

Your discussion of the merciless writers rather surprises me. I didn't think this show was nearly as cruel as, say, Abismo de pasión. I mean they killed padre Lupe, for heavens sakes! For a while, it was looking like a Greek tragedy with the good guys getting mowed down one by one and no guarantee that any of them would be left standing at the end.

Here Cris is the only sympathetic character the writers have sacrificed to the villains. I don't count soggy Pau -- death by disease is different.

Guillo -- Kid, don't listen to Carlos. He's just in a cranky mood because of the bad doctor on the set. He'll get over it though we may need to bring back the Baileys to help him along.

Gracias, Aribeth!

THank you, NOvelamaven , for that fast and furious and funny recap. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. SO many lines made me laugh, but I will mention one that has not been mentioned ...."A bad girl is stalked by a worse girl." As for the death toll of this novela...has anyone been watching Game of Thrones ????? No is safe..neither hero nor villain.ollque bonate

Merciless writers, just please don't touch our Balzac. I saw ENDA and am still recovering. Very funny Carlos and Julia. Such a great recap, Novela Maven. Thanks.
