Corazón Indomable #16, 6/3/2013: One Final Lie, One Final Shag, and our Galan Scurries Away without a Goodbye

Recap by LatinaInMD

Sharpshooter MC shoots Octavio, who manages to stay on his horse and make it home.  He approaches Maria barely hanging on, tells her he got shot in the leg with pellets and asks her to go get his brother; Maria dutifully obeys and quickly returns with Miguel.  As they both help him walk, Octavio tells Maria no one must find out about this.

MC is back at the shack hiding the shotgun and telling herself Octavio is now hurt and can no longer leave.  Meanwhile, Maria clean up Octavio's wounds and he instructs her to get rid of everything.  Miguel thinks there is a murderer on the ranch but Octavio insists it's not important and to not tell the police, as that would surely delay his departure; for the same reason he refuses to see a doctor.

MC thought bubbles about what she did to Octavio and wonders why she didn't run to help him.  (Perhaps because you have a screw loose, my dear.)  Gramps shows up and MC asks him if he has heard any "news".

Octavio asks himself why him (karma perhaps, Chulito?) and wonders who could have done it.  Lucia comes in and asks Octavio what happened.  He lies and tells her he fell over some brambles and lacerated his leg, but he still intends to leave as soon as he signs and picks up the documents for MC's land.  He says if there's a delay, then he will have to ask Miguel to give the documents to MC himself, but he assures her he will leave as planned.

MC goes to JA and asks if he knows of any "news" from the ranch, if anything bad has happened.  He says no, but MC says she has a "bad feeling" that something bad happened to Octavio and insists JA go find out.  She says if he won't go then she will do it because she "knows Octavio was shot" and wants to know how he is doing.  JA agrees to go as long as she stays put and doesn't follow him.

JA enters the kitchen and asks Maria if there's any "news"; he informs her MC sent him because she is sure someone shot Octavio.  Wise Maria clearly puts two and two together, but pretends nothing is wrong and says Octavio is fine and up in his bedroom.  JA quickly enters Octavio's room and sees him in bed with a bandaged leg.  JA tells Octavio MC insisted he go so him and find out if he is well.  Octavio assures him he is very well and instructs him to say exactly that to MC.  JA says "But she knows that you...."  Octavio interrupts"  "What do you means she knows?"  JA continues:  "She told me you had to be injured because you were shot."

Lucia tells Esther she finds it strange and doesn't believe that Octavio just fell, plus she noticed that Octavio was tense.

Octavio tells JA it's not true that he was shot and insists that nothing happened to him; he repeats that he fell on brambles and lacerated his leg.  He tells him to go back to MC, say there is nothing wrong, and remind her that he does not want her near that house, to say that when he wants to see her he will go to her shack.

JA reports back to MC and repeats Octavio's words.  Temporarily wise MC says "It's all lies.  He is never going to go see me."  She insists Octavio has to be injured; she knows it because she shot him herself with her gramp's pellet gun.

Miguel tells Lucia he is going to see if Octavio needs something and leaves; Lucia asks herself why Miguel is so nervous and mysterious and wonders what is going on, what he is hiding.

MC tells JA she shot Octavio so he wouldn't leave.  He calls her a killer but like a child she says she "just shot him a little" in the leg, not to kill him.  JA suffers a brain frees and asks if she also shot him and MC reminds the bloke that she was with him when he was shot; plus, that was a "real" gun, while hers was "just a pellet gun".  (Glad she cleared that up.  Sigh.)  JA says, so that's why Octavio has a bandaged leg and is in bed.  MC practically rejoices that Octavio is hurt and can't walk, because now he will have to stay.  With a big smile on her face, she says:  "He can't go to Mexico and I will take care of him, because he is my husband.  I will take care of him."  (Another bit of brilliant dialogue, writers?!  Sigh.)  JA looks at her like she is nuts (and viewerville surely concurs!!!)

Octavio requests Miguel to give him painkillers because he is in much pain.  Miguel insists on calling a doctor, but Octavio again refuses.  Miguel leaves and Octavio asks himself if MC could have done it.

MC continues to try to get details from JA but he refuses to give more.  MC says she is sure Octavio knows she did it and just doesn't want the police involved.  She tells JA no one but he knows she did it and asks him to keep quiet.  She says Octavio wouldn't dare accuse her, but JA says his family would.  MC says they can put her where they want (don't tempt fate, girl), but the good thing is that Octavio is no longer leaving.  JA asks why she loves Octavio so much, and in standard novela mode MC turns to the camera, looks far off and says even she doesn't know why she loves him so much:  "Maybe it's because he was good to me.  Who knows?  But the truth is he wrapped himself around my heart like a very large weed that I can't tear off of me."  (I'd say she helped a little with the wrapping.)

Octavio and Miguel continue their discussion; Octavio begs Miguel to help him leave without anyone finding out what happened.  He tells Miguel his pain is going away and he wants to try to sleep.  He tells Miguel not to worry and promises to see a doctor as soon as he arrives in Mexico City.  Once again displaying his innate medical expertise (not!!) he says once there he will get some antibiotics and in a few days he will be just fine.

The next day MC wakes up in her shack and wonders how Octavio is doing; she goes out and greets a smiling Solita (while Moctavio happily hangs from the room of the shack); MC suddenly feels faint and passes out; Solita rushes to her aid.

Octavio tells Miguel he will send him money so he can build MC her house, whether she wants it or not.  Miguel assures him that she will want it.  Octavio says:  "I can see you don't know MC".  (And viewerville can see that you don't know her either, Chulito.)  Miguel asks what else, and Octavio responds bluntly:  "I'm going to divorce her."  (Anyone asking themselves now about Octavio's thought process has hopefully figured out by now that he has none.  This one-brain-cell boy acts on pure impulse.)

MC is now lying on her cot in the shack and wonders why she was suddenly dizzy.  She thinks it's probably stomach troubles caused by all the upsetting things that have happened to her.  Solita hands her a mug of coffee, but just the smell of it makes MC run out of the shack to vomit.

Miguel tells Octavio divorce is the best solution.  Octavio says MC will be very lonely and sad, and he begs Miguel to take care of her, to try and become her "tutor".  (Viewerville is speechless that Octavio trusts his hapless brother to do what he himself failed to even try to do.)  Miguel promises to try and Octavio says "it won't be so hard" (????).  Miguel says he is sure it won't be and tells him to consider it done.  He adds:  "And if you send the money to build her house, you can be sure I will build it."  He states he would do it even if he didn't send the money, if only he had money himself.  Octavio asks that once Miguel can start providing his monthly allowance again, he should give all of it to MC.

MC tells gramps how she fainted and how the coffee made her go vomit.  A green light goes off in gramp's head and he clearly realizes she is pregnant, but he keeps mums about it.

Octavio begs Miguel to inform him immediately if MC needs anything; Miguel tells him to stop worrying so much, that MC will soon marry any old farmhand, will have kids and will not even remember Octavio, except to think that he left her a home and a piece of land.  Octavio says:  "All that is too little for all the hurt I've caused her."  (For once, viewerville couldn't agree more with Octavio.)

Gramps is now outside the shack and thought bubbles that MC is pregnant; Maria shows up with a basket of food and asks him why he looks so worried.

MC’s father visits his casino and Raiza continues her attempts to reel him in.  He advises her to focus on her work and make good money encouraging men to gamble.  (He’s got her pegged just right.)

As gramps and Maria share a taco from the load of food Maria brought, an anxious MC tells them she has to go.  Gramps asks why and MC (obviously to the banquet in front of her) says she has to go looking for food; they offer her a taco, which she rejects.  She quickly scampers away and teletransports to the grounds outside the big house.  Ofelia catches sight of her and yells at her, which prompts MC to take off running into the house.  Ofelia catches up to MC right outside Octavio’s bedroom room.  Hearing the commotion, Octavio gets out of bed.  Miguel tries to stop him but Octavio lets MC in and she runs into his arms.  Miguel and Ofelia exit stage left.  MC helps Octavio sit on the bed and asks him if it hurts too much.  He tells her no, not to worry.  She kneels by his side and crying begs him to forgive her because she did it; she promises not to do it again and kisses his hurt leg.  He reassures her it’s over, but reminds her she could have killed him.  She says she knew she wouldn’t because she shot at his leg and only used pellets.  (Never mind that he could have been thrown off the horse and broken his neck.  Minor detail.)  He tells her it could have landed her in jail and that he imagined she did it, which is why he kept quiet. (What gallantry from our galan.)   But then he stokes her feelings of guilt, telling her he hasn’t even been to a doctor because then they would find out what happened.  She says if he is not around she doesn’t care if she goes to jail; she continues to beg his forgiveness.  He tells her he already forgave her and she must not tell anyone no matter what happens.  She asks if he is no longer leaving.

Ofelia goes and dutifully blabs to Lucia and Esther that MC is in the house.

Octavio thought bubbles that it is best to lie to MC because she would be capable of any madness if he tells her the truth.  He tells her that he can no longer leave because she left him hobbling and unable to move.  She offers to care for him.  He says no, she can no longer come to this house, as she is “no longer wanted there” (as if she ever was!!); better yet, they no longer want either one of them.  She wants him to go live in her shack, but he says they can’t live there and that’s why he wants to build her a house.  MC asks “To live with me?”  He says:  “Or without me….But a new house, comfortable, on your own land, where you can feel as the lady and master.”  MC asks what she wants that for if he is not with her.  He tells her she needs it.  Suddenly wiser beyond her years, MC cries and says:  “It’s just that I feel that you want to give it to me as payment.”  Octavio says no, because he owes her nothing.  (Oh, yes you do, Chulito.)  She is just his wife and he wants her to live as such.  She asks him to swear that is so and he swears.  She accepts the house and Octavio asks her to also agree that he must go to Mexico City to work.

Raiza accompanies MC’s daddy to his private plane and feebly kisses him goodbye, seemingly still thinking that she has a chance to be his trophy wife.  (Clueless woman.)

Octavio promises MC he will come back to live with her once their home is built.  MC asks if he is not lying to her.  He says, “no, believe me, that’s how it will be.”  She tells him she believes him, that he “doesn’t know how to lie,” but he does she swears….He stops her and asks her to stop her “rebelliousness”, and not to make things more difficult.  She asks if he is worried about her, he says very much.  She tells him not to worry, that she will do whatever he wants, whatever he tells her to do.  He tells her bluntly:  “Then go already.”

Miguel stops Lucia as she rushes into the living room on her way to Octavio’s bedroom to kick MC out.  He tells her not to make the situation more difficult.

MC asks Octavio he will “allow” her to give him a kiss.  He nods yes and they proceed to exchange much, much more than a simple kiss.

Carola asks Raiza to study Quasimodo’s protégé Araceli, to bring out her hidden beauty because she will be giving her the job she wants.  Raiza also must find other beautiful women for the casino.  Araceli will be the first hook to reel in more players.

A visibly happier MC scampers down the stairs, sees the whole Narvaes gang and takes off down a hallway, not without first flashing viewerville a broad grin to make it clear to us what just transpired upstairs.  She teleports to a tire swing, where she now thought bubbles in childish gushes:  “Octavio loves me, he loves me very much.  I will always do what he tells me.”  She grins again and reminds herself that he kissed her many times, caressed her many times, and made her “his wife” once again.  She screams gleefully that she loves him so much.  (As viewerville screams that she can’t possibly be more naïve!!!!)

Raiza visits Quasimodo’s home and asks to see Araceli, who conveniently comes out to greet her.  Raiza looks her over from head to toe as if she is inspecting prize cattle.

Octavio sits on his sofa with his packed luggage nearby.  He remembers his last moments of passion with MC and stares at the empty bed.  Miguel comes in and informs him that Ewwsebio has the truck ready.  Miguel wants to inform Lucia and Esther so they can say goodbye, but Octavio says he does not want to say goodbye to anyone.  Miguel says he imagines Octavio’s nerves must be destroyed.  Octavio says:  “Yes, but I have much more pain of body and soul.”  (Soul, what soul?  You have none, Chulito.)  Miguel pretends to care and Octavio tells him not to lie, he knows he feels nothing, but he expects Miguel will keep his word.  Miguel says he will, and they hug goodbye.

Maria tells gramps all will be resolved between MC and Octavio.  She says when Octavio talks about MC his eyes are like those of a lamb about to die, he loves her so much.  She says “You can’t fake love.”  (We know better!!)  Gramps hopes she is right.  Maria promises when she gets home she will tell Octavio about MC’s fainting spells, which she is sure are not due to a drinking problem.

Now downstairs, Octavio again reminds Miguel of his promise to take care of the papers for MC’s land.  Miguel resents his rancor; they head outside.

Raiza continues to inspect Araceli from head to toes, even asking her to show her teeth for good measure.  She asks about her work experience and tells her she will begin as a cigarette girl at the casino.  Over Quasimodo’s objections, Raiza says take it or leave it.

Gramps works on making a new basket (their meager source of income, perhaps?).  He tells Solita, as if she understands a thing, “if you only knew what is happening to your sister.”  A very happy MC literally skips into the shacks, grabs gramps hat off his head, plops it on hers, and announces that she is free of all of her ailments.  She tells gramps that once Octavio recovers from his injury (as if gramps knew about it), he will then go work and will return when their new home is finished.  She adds they will soon leave that shack and live like “gente bien,” the way Octavio likes it.

Octavio takes one last look at the big house (perhaps contemplating his shameful behavior there?  Nah, that’s asking too much of El Chulito).  He heads for the car, and JA asks if he is leaving forever.  Octavio says yes and tells JA that he is leaving MC in his care.  As if only he can claim that privilege, Octavio asks JA to “not abandon her.”

Ask Octavio departs, Lucia and Esther celebrate his departure, but Lucia says she won’t be completely calm until a few days have gone by.  She still wonders how he got hurt.  A smiling Miguel comes in and says they are “finally rid” of his brother.  He swears from now on “all will change for MC” and she will find herself on a “short path” out of town.  (Anyone left who thinks Miguel is just a misguided “mandilon” manipulated by his evil wife?)

A visibly happy MC and apparently less traumatized Solita are busy covering up the shack’s leaky roof with plastic bags.  JA comes running to them and announces to MC that Octavio has already left, and that he has left FOREVER.  (#FF Quasimodo and Araceli, and oddly placed comic relief courtesy of Santa and Maria.)

MC insists to JA that Octavio must have just gone to see a doctor.  JA says once again that Octavio said he would not return.  She refuses to believe him and asks JA to swear on his own mother that it’s true.  He swears on his mother and repeats that Octavio himself told him he was leaving forever.  MC moans:  “He left.  He left.”

Previews of #17:  MC asks Ewwsebio where he left Octavio and he informs her he is well on his way to the capital; Octavio is rushed a stretcher into an ambulance; a doctor informs Eduardo that they will do all they can to try to save Octavio’s leg; Lucia comes into the kitchen and doesn’t appear at all upset to find MC there with Maria.

Comments:
Octavio earned some big points by covering for MC and especially keeping his mouth shut around Miguel about who shot him. He is still an idiot for thinking Miguel is going to follow his instructions and give Maricruz the money her sends, and his portion of the ranch earnings.

Not sure how I feel about him so blatantly lying to MC about staying for a few more days, and painting a picture of a happily ever after for them when he intends to dump her forever. I understand it was the only way to get her to leave and to be at peace (for the moment), but it’s still pretty cowardly to do. I continue to be shocked that he so easily makes love to her without thinking of the consequences (emotional and physical—pregnancy).

I do think that he has begun to feel more than pity and attraction to her—his feelings have gotten deeper (is it love though?). Still not deep enough for him to think more about her feelings, and to stay and tough it out/ try to make this crazy situation work somehow.

hmmm...hotmakeup sex !!!!...or more specifically, ''Sorry-I-shot-you sex.'' Weren't Carola and the other woman very a villainous mother and daughter duo in another novela with Maite Peron and William Levy..Cuiado maybe ?

Vivi:

You could have used the word "mooring" for feet, lol, for the casino.

I was so disappointed in Tav last night. I'm glad he didn't tell who shot him, but Lucia and Ester seemed to have some thoughts on that. Miguel and the two evil women will make sure that poor Maricruz never gets any money. I am hoping Maricruz stays out of trouble with them and goes to her Papa. It's beyond time. Who will protect that poor girl now? Jose Antonio can only do so much.

I liked the basket weaving Ramiro was doing. It is so rare to see that done these days.

I am surprised that Eww-sebio, when Tav left, did crack that whippette and yell Vamanos!

And Ofelia, really, who in the Sam Hill does she think she is? The co-owners wife comes for a little visit and she tries to stop her! Even Mr Mads said Maricruz was too quick for her, lol. I am glad she at least had some sort of goodbye with Tav, although I hate what he has done to her.

I like Alejandro and glad he blew Raiza off. I didn't like the way she kept making Arecely turn around and Teo didn't like it either.

Susanlynn:

Yes, they were both in Cuando. They were a BSC pair there.

Susanlynn- I think they played an aunt/niece con artist pair trying to take over the real identity of the Maite P. character in Cuidado con el Angel. And Rocio B. (Carola) was the evil mother in Cuando me Enamoro, who with her evil daughter, played by Jessica Coch, tried to take over the real identity of the Silvia Navarro character. So far, neither of these two seems really evil, but it's still early.

Thanks for the mini-recap. Works for me. Only saw the first few minutes of the episode but impressed that Octavio could make love, being doped up on pain killers. Ah youth!

The actress playing Carola was such a sweet and loving mama in Pasión. But not sure about her in this one. She kept rolling her eyes about the hunchback's (sorry, forgot his name) interest in the new gal...but it didn't seem totally mean. Just amused at the way he was lying to himself about his emotional involvement.

Still, there have to be meanies in every facet of the story. So it doesn't look good for Carola. And certainly not for Raiza who is clearly after the cash.

Oh Tav....like somone commented yesterday I'm one of the few who also doesn't hate Tav but thinks he makes poor decisions without thinking of the consequences (ummm maricruz anyone). He is so hot n cold with MC.
Tav won big points with me as well with the whole coverup but the way he left her was kind of harsh. At least he could have left a letter or message or something with Jose Antonio.

Octavio almost made me forgive him about the rain incident when he was babying Maricruz and allowing her to kiss in the bedroom. He almost suckered me into it, but then he showed he a$$. But, then I too would lie to the stalker who shot me in order to keep me. Seriously, she might have shot him in his other leg if he'd told the truth. P.S. I still can't stand him.

Anxiously waiting for your recap Vivi!

Regarding Oct, I think it is the least he can do that keeps his mouth shut who shot him, still using MC for his carnal needs, kepping her in the dark about his intentions, even worse let her beleive in happily ever after even though he'll clearly gonna leave her flat tomorrow and she'll be devastated. Don't even get started on the ppl, in whose care he'll leave her. He knows what a whipped puppy big bro is and how much Lucia & co. hates her they never hid it from him.
Coward is too nice a word to call him!!

Regarding Carola and Raiza I only saw these actresses in villana characters, cannot imagine either of them as a nice person.
The Carola actress has such a extremely annoying face you just wanna slap her. Maybe she's the nicest person on earth sill you just want to hit her hard. We have a one word idiom for this but I do not know it in english or even if english have a word for it.

Irisz- Ooh! What's the one-word idiom?

It's LatinaInMD who will be doing today's recap, I'll just be posting for her later.

ITA with your thoughts on Octavio. He won some points, but lost a lot too.

Following up on grammar, Viv in your title, "Se Fué" means = he leaves/left correct?

Why is it se fué and not él fué?

Thanks for the recap! I rarely get the chance to leave a comment, but I am watching this TN and LOVE reading the snarky recaps and comments about this TN.

I am finding this TN very unbelievable...I know it's a TN, but I have a hard time believing Maricruz is that naïve and lives the way she does. I get the whole no electricity/indoor plumbing. I have a hard time believing someone living in our era, living close enough to a town/village/rancho like she does has no clue about things like eating with utensils.

I think Octavio's a complete jerk, even with him covering for MC. He's also a very dim bulb...after the way Miguel talked about MC how can Tav really believe Miguel will give Maricruz the money he sends and his portion of the ranch? I think he treats MC horribly, first they can live in the rancho, then MC cannot live there, but yet he won't go with her to live with his wife. And there's truly no money to buy MC some clothes that aren't torn or are appropriate? Or some kind of chanclas so they won't pinch her feet like normal shoes do? And Maricruz is naïve enough to still believe that Ocatvio loves her.

And don't get me started about MC not realizing she could be pregnant. Her abuelo didn't teach her the facts of life?

I might find this TN more credulous is this were a novela de epoca, set some 100 years back or so. Still, I'm sticking with this TN as incredulous as I think it is, and hope that things start becoming a tad more believable.

Opps, sorry Vivi, thanks for posting then I'll thank LatinaInMD later when the recup is up.

The idiom is "tenyérbemászó" which literally means - crawling into the falt of your hand - , that all in one world - and in continuous tense too.
I know several languages has this like german or french but I do not know it in english.

The "el" is implied when you say "se fue". You can also say "el se fue".

jenbeizaie- We need to order you up an extra strength tin plated telenovela beanie to watch this one. There are some tns that you expect logic and realism from, and others, like this one, when you have to throw that stuff out the window. Just enjoy the ride with us, my friend.

Irisz- Exactly what jenbeizaie said. El is implied. The verb when you are saying a person has left is irse (literally to take oneself).

Irisz- What a great word! No, we do not have a one word phrase in English. A quick online search comes up with this: “A face badly in need of a fist.”

A slapable face/a face made to be slapped.

..or maybe ''A face only a mother could love.'' I do a unit on proverbs in speaking class, and I find that it is sometimes hard to translate the meaning of proverbs into English. Other times , I can find the same idea in different words .

Susanlynn- I think that implies ugliness, more than a face that annoys.

While I'm waiting for recap, I want to left one more behind the screen story

when I learnt english one of my teachers had us research proverbs, some we found had english equivalent - although different words/description were used for the same meaning or situation - and sometimes you cannot describe that word or phrase at all in english you can only come up with a fairly close explanation.
we did not have google and internet at that time so it was a lot of book research and dictionary time..

you can check some here if you're interested, they have the english meaning underneath not the equivalent though

http://terebess.hu/english/proverbeng.html

still my english is not the best, and sometimes I only see the mistake in spelling or grammar after a post and unfortunately they have no text correction option here, so please overlook it

Octavio is so far in the hole, points-wise. Good for him for not telling the cops on MC. But then everything else he does is bad (getting a little nookie before abandoning her forever, trusting Miguel to take care of things, pretending she can't get pregnant, not leaving a forwarding number, etc.). Abuelo is down a few too. What's with no one, not even Maria, telling MC about the facts of life. Does no one think it would be a good idea for someone capable of drowning herself, borrowing a horse to do some pretty rough riding, and so on, to know that she might be putting herself and a fetus at risk? Everyone is in the red here.

Except Solita. Isn't there someone, somewhere who can get her out of this mess? (looking at you, Jose Antonio).

Kelly

LatinainMD---Thanking you in advance as I know the recap will be great.

CeCe---I'm not against Tav either. I know that most of the women would like to tar and feather him and I know that up until now he has only been using 1/2 of a brain cell but I know that at some point he will see the light and become Mc's biggest defender and swing into action against her enemies. That might be sometime off but I know that day will come and when it does, I will be cheering the loudest of all on the Caray blog.
In the meantime, I will enjoy the beautiful rancho the the very pretty Tamaulipas countryside, I love it.

I hope that I don't have to look at Evil Eyes to much, I can't stand her. She's evil to the core.

Corola y Raisa---I don't know any more than anyone else but by guess
is that they are not on team good.
the gringo

Octavio fué al rancho = He went to the ranch.

Octavio se fué el rancho = He left the ranch.

Because he's a cobarde flojo (lazy coward).

Correct?

Kelly

I did not realize that Carola was the evil aunt in Cuidado. Totally didn't recognize her with the blond hair...I prefer both of them with darker hair. Blonde looks so harsh.

Cynderella, hahaha. I get why he lied to MC. I now believe that MC is capable of doing anything to keep Octavio near her. She even said whe talking to JA that Octavio would never report her (to the police)

Vivi: I agree that Octavio is more emotionaly invested in this relationship than he is letting himself believe. He looked miserable the following morning .

Kelly- LOL! Totally correct use of irse (to leave) and ir a (to go to), as well as the perfect use of cobarde flojo. :)

And now I know, why Octavio didn't buy her a test. Even if she wasn't pregnant, octavio tried his last chance to make a mini Tav. It was very smart.
But yes, I believe he is in love. Too sad he will realize this too late. No spoilers, but we have more then 150 episodes. Long way.

Kelly--You almost got it. Grammar police is here to help.

Octavio se fué del rancho (He left *from* the ranch)

The verb to go in Spanish has two modes:
1. Ir the transitive--just plain, to go; and
2. Irse the reflexive--to go away, depart, leave (always involving a person's actions).

1. El fué a la playa ayer (He went to the beach yesterday)

2. [El] se fué a las siete con sus compañeros (He left at 7 with his friends) (The El is understood in Spanish and can be eliminated.)

or Me fué bien en el examen (My test went well for me [for me is the reflexive part and in English it's understood])

Looking forward to Latina's longer recap.

The actress playing Carola usually plays a villain, but in Pasion, she played Sebastian Rulli,s sweet mom.

Kelly~~~~I love your very insightful comments about all the folis around MC who have done nothing to help our noble savage. Here,s how I would describe Octavio `````tall, dark, handsome, irresponsible, clueless, directionless..and I don't think there's any chance of him becoming a member of MENSA. Irisz~~~I teach ESL , and you seem to be doing pretty well in English. Usually the most difficult part of English for my students is the grammar , especially verb tenses. May ask what your native language is ?.

''folis''....was supposed to be ''folks'' but ''fools''works, too,

Kelly, the second one should be

Octavio se fue del rancho

PS:Happy to see you are following this one!

Vivi in DC - I definitely need that super beanie! I have been watching TNs for over a decade and by far this is the most incredulous one I've seen. It also doesn't help that the last one I followed from start to finish was Amor Bravio. Going from AB to CI is quite a jump for me!

You guys put me to shame--really.
I'm an American and have a lot of trouble with my own language. I really struggle and then I come on the Caray blog and get the fine points of Spanish. OMG! You Caray
bloggers make me feel like I only have 1/2 a brain cell like Octavio.
the gringoerfloar names

susanlynn - I agree with your description of Oct complemented by that and he's randy and hasn't a lick of sense of honor

by the way, my native language is hungarian, which couldn't be any farther away lexically or grammatically from either english or spanish

irisz``I had a student from Hungary who told me that after studying English here for a few months, her mother told her that she was starting to make mistakes in grammar when she wrote in Hungarian. I think following caraycaray will help improve your grammar and increase your vocabulary. Through the telenovelas and caraycray, I've learned some Spanish even though some of my Spanish-speaking students cringe at me watching telenovelas.

susalynn - I never experienced any such problem, my biggest problem is that my speech is rapidly decreasing because I have noone to talk to in english, I try to keep up on my grammar by watching films and reading books in original english that helps a lot, but I have very few chances to speak unfortunately :(

Can anyone tell from his face whether Teo is smiling or distressed or whatever? I wonder what his history is?

Has anyone else noticed the steady traffic driving by on the street that the driveway to the mansion leads to? I had thought that they were rather isolated.

Carlos

Carlos- I'm just trying to figure out HOW they make Manuel Landeta's face do that when I see Teo. That can't be comfortable.

Yes, I've noticed the steady stream of cars. They really should have filmed on another spot on the hacienda to keep the isolated feel.

Carlos~~~Gee, I was going to ask you about Teo's grimace. Would there be a medical condition that could cause the distortion ? I wonderr how Manuel holds his face like that. He is a handsome man in reality. I am also confused about that shirt [blouse?] he always wears. Is that a uniform ? Also, what is his job ?

Ellie- I tell myself that I'm going to watch the first couple weeks and only if it's good will I finish. My standards drop in the second week and I always finish what I start. I kept with LQNPA and that one was a horrible story even if the actors were good. And Ana Brenda (I think) is better here. At least her head isn't on a permanent tilt.

Thanks all for the clarifications on the grammar. I lie and say I ONLY watch these to learn spanish, so might as well do so (even though I really just want to see how Maricruz sticks it to everyone).

Teo might be both smiling (he has a cute girl living with him) and distressed (the girl is going to be dressed like a zorra to work in the casino). Poor guy.

Kelly

Thanks for setting up a discussion space, LatinaInMd.
I think Teo is a security guard? with a sailor shirt as his uniform?

In addition to the grimace and padded shirt hump, I think he may have a fake nose and other latex additions to his face. I keep looking when he's on screen to figure it out.

Octavio's really living in some kind of bubble that keeps him from reality. Yeah, Chulito, just let MC's kisses lead on to some sexual healing for your injured leg. Make sure you really screw her over before you leave.

OK, he will pay. Wait and see. He will pay.

I noticed the traffic when Maricruz ran out of the house after Oct when he went riding with Ester. It was very close, so appears they are on a major thoroughfare.

Susanlynn, I thought that he might be a member of the crew of the HMS Pinafore.

Carlos

Carlos``HA...HMS Pinafore ..so true.. Paloma~~~Hub was in the Navy..glad it wasn't the Mexican navy because that shirt/blouse [?] is kind of effeminate. I, too, think that Manuel is sporting a fake nose..maybe fake eyebrows, too. And, Octavio , shame on you for screwing MC figuratively while screwing her literally.....not nice. ..not good galan behavior.

Thanks for the main points Vivi. I was all set to watch, I'm thinking I'll pass.
Am I the only one who is a bit worried about MC's sanity? First she tries to commit suicide because of losing Octavio, and now she tries to shoot him for leaving? That is a mentally ill person in my book. If I were Octavio, I'd get the heck out of dodge too. Not that I like Octavio at all, but this woman is a bit psychotic. I'm having problems liking any of the main characters. I like Solita, but she's not really a main character.

Question.....WHy was LUcia. Wearing the big, black brimmed hat...In the house ?.... I kept picturing it with a point...what a witch.

FWIW - fue has no accent.

I couldn't get past the "I wounded him so he would stay, and now I can nurse him back to health!" bit either.

Recap is up!

Thanks Latina, great detailed job. After reading the recap, I'm even more convinced that MC is psychotic. Octavio would have been nuts to say goodbye to her. He knows what she's capable of.

By the way, how does Octavio think MC could ever maintain a house? With what money? She would sell it and live off of the proceeds.

Thanks for the nifty recap in which you made two concise observations which pretty well sum up our two main characters:

"Perhaps because you have a screw loose, my dear.

"Soul, what soul? You have none, Chulito."

Very astute and well said.

Carlos

OT:
Hmmm ... except for PEAM, all current tns on Uni have a "JA" - Jose Antonio/Corazon; Jose Angel/Amores; and Jorge Alfredo/QBA. Does Jesus on PEAM have a middle initial?

LatinaInMD- I loved the recap and all your side comments. You assessment of our crazy heroine and idiot galan were right on. Lol!

Audrey--Kelly and I bow to your superior knowledge. I was aping (or monkeying) Kelly. It doesn't have an accent. Must unlearn, must unlearn.

Anita - I suspect Kelly may have picked it up from a mistake in the original title. It was taking on a life of its own! :)

Thanks LatinaInMD! I can barely stand to watch this one, and often don't. But I usually read the recaps. We are kind of waiting for the "new, improved" Maricruz - although it's impossible to fathom the transformation a sophisticated young lady.

Yes. It was an error in my quickly put up title.

Audrey, me too. But since I'm a recapper, I have to at least watch it once every 2 weeks. I'm praying that it improves enough for me when MC grows up.

That was a very good recap, LatinaInMD. I'm disappointed that both our leads are so idiotic right now.

Thanks LatinainMd forthe great recap.
Loved your side remarks, they are on the spot

I wouldn't say MC is a loon, you can see logic in her actions - I shoot him in the leg -> he can't walk -> he won't walk away - I do not say it's good or even acceptable, but you can see some logic, even if it's upside down

I'd say Lucia and her incomprehensible hatred towards MC just as wrong.
Why she hates her so much? Even she couldn't explain it when Miguel asked her last night, just because she exists not an acceptable reason.

As for "Anyone left who thinks Miguel is just a misguided “mandilon” manipulated by his evil wife?" you had me there, maybe some of Lucia evilness rubbed off him, I was totally on the above mentioned side but now I'll leave the Miguel table to where sometimes I wandered and sit at the MC2.0 table screaming for VENGANZA!!!

@irisz79 - excellent points. I agree there is logic in MC's actions. A little nutty, but not completely. (And welcome to the MC2.0 table - hoping you will enjoy the "vengeance" feast.)
