Corazon Indomable #25 6-14-13 MC Takes a Depressive Turn y Oblivio Finally Adds 2+2 Correctly!

Corazon Indomable #25 6-14-13: MC Takes a Depressive Turn y Oblivio Finally Adds 2+2 Correctly.

The Old
Don Alejandro and Maricruz arrive at the pension. MC runs (leaving poor Alejandro behind) to find her sister depressed in bed. Serafina tells Don Alejandro that Solita has a fever and the doctor also reported her extreme anxiety. Solita does not want MC to leave her alone, so MC informs Don Alejandro she has to renounce her job to be with Solita. This leaves Don Alefandro muy impactado.

The New

Somewhere in La Isla:
Toni runs into Teo who is surprised he is out and about so early. Toni reveals that working into the wee hours of the night at the Casino is not very agreeable to him. Teo wonders why he needs so much sleep (I wonder at the relevance of this scene).  Topic turns to Aracely and Teo gets upset. He will continue protecting her because he’s not going to let anyone disrespect Aracely!!

Moving on up:
Don Alejandro has all the answers. It’s simple he tells MC. You all can come and live in the big house.  With some convincing from Don Alejandro and Serafina (She warmed up to him quick. Was it not just a day or two ago she was telling MC to be wary of her patron) MC takes Don Alejandro’s offer. MC is overwhelmed, not only did she know he is a good person but he is also like a guardian angel. (The music takes an eerie turn when MC shakes hands with Alejandro. I find it very distracting as it makes me think something bad will happen….ok focus sorry!).

Serafina is happy for MC and tells her Don Alejandro really is a nice person. MC adds that Alejandro is her teacher and is trying to transform her into a Lady. Serafina jokes than soon she will not be able to recognize her (At the rate MC is going, Serfina will have to wait a looong time). MC turns serious and tells Serafina she does not want ANYONE knowing where she is (read: Oblivio). She does not want anyone to know Don Alejandro’s number either. They say their good byes and thank you and drive off to the big house. (There goes that music again).

Maria’s Epic Journey:
None other than Maria, who is still making her epic journey to MC and Solita, now provides us with a comedic interlude.  She is having a hard time in the overcrowded bus with her giant basket. (I did give a laugh or two when she hit the guy with the basket and pushed him off the seat)

Tobias’s warm welcome:
Tobias is surprised when 2 additional members walk into the house. Don Alejandro explains that Solita was not able to live without her sister so she is moving in with them. Tobias hopes that Solita is more educated than her dear sister and does not protest as much as she does (I have to agree MC does complain a lot during her lessons).  When Solita does not say anything he snidely remarks that when people talk to you, you should answer. MC is just about to let him have it before Alejandro interrupts and informs him that Solita cannot hear/speak. Tobias looks embarrassed and apologies.

HGIU back in town:
The boys have returned. Oblivio runs into Serafina and wants her to introduce him to Maricruz. As always, Oblivio has reacted too late and Serafina regrets to inform him that MC has long gone. She tells him that MC’s boss, the good man that he is, took her sister and the monkey with him. The monkey surprisingly catches not so Oblivio for the moment’s ears. He finally wants to ask all the right questions like what town MC came from. Serafina only remembers that it is a town in Tamaulipas.

Tav is having a conversation with himself confirming that MC in the pension is the same one he left in Tamaulipas. He wants to know where she went but Serafina lies. An address, a number anything! You must know, how did contact her when her sister was sick (so he has a brain after all). However, Tav is no match for Serafina, she lies pretty well and claims ignorance to his dismay.  Serafina is wondering why all the interest all of a sudden. Cara de impactado when she finds out that MC is his wife. Serafina tells him that if MC calls she will try to get more information (she thought bubbles the craziness of the situation but nonetheless she will not pass any info as long as MC forbids her to do so).

Lessons de dama have resumed
Todays lesson begins with learning how to walk up the stairs with grace and elegance (I mean this is nice and all and also a great plot device to fall down stairs but I think a book and social etiquette may be more beneficial to MC…just saying).  MC is protesting that she will never be a lady.  Like any good Papa, Alejandro has confidence in MC. He tells MC that from now on her job is to focus on her lessons. She questions why he is doing this. To MC disbelief she finds out that Alejandro has a past just like she does. They go back to practicing and while climbing the stairs; MC has an ungraceful fall down. Don Alejandro is terrified and calls for Tobias to call the doctor quickly.

The doctor informs Alejandro that MC is pregnant. The Doc says that MC should be ok with rest but if not she may have to be brought to the clinic to save the child (had trouble understanding this so clarify if necessary).  There is nothing to do at the moment but wait. Luckily MC is young and this is to her advantage!

Alejandro tells her what she has been trying to deny for so long. He wants to know why she did not inform him. She didn’t want to believe it she tells him despite all the people telling her so.  MC has it in her head that she is going to die, so she wants to tell Alejandro her story. Despite Alejandro efforts, MC just wants to die like her mom and her abuelito. She has no one…. not even Dios! Alejandro promises he will not abandon her.
What was lost has now been found:
Serafina gets a call from the police chief in Tamaulipas. They tell her that someone named Maria is looking for MC and has VERY important documents to give to her regarding her father.

Speaking of Maria, she has arrived at the pension (I was beginning to question her ever finding MC). She meets Serafina who has been waiting for her. She gives her the direction to MC new address (Oh no!  It is going to take another 5 episode for her to get there). To my delight, Serafina is going to get a taxi that will take her right to house (Whew! Mission saved!).

Maria shows up at Don Alejandro house requesting to see MC but Alejandro informs her that MC had a little accident and she is currently resting.  He leaves Tobias with Maria who is surprisingly nice. Since Maria cannot come back another day (she has no money or food) she leaves the box with Tobias. She wonders if they need another girl to cook, wash and take care of the house (this house is about to get full real fast).

Hot Guys Meet Up in Café:
The boys have a little meeting where Octavio tells Eduardo that the girl they almost hit is “his” MC.  Eduardo wonders how it’s possible for MC to be in Mexico when Lucia sent a letter informing Octavio that MC is doing fine and starting to forget her dear Tav. Octavio (who decided to wear a brain this episode) correctly states that Lucia must have lied. Eduardo, who does not know Lucia well, doesn’t understand why Lucia would do this and has doubts. Octavio finally confirms (20 episodes too late) that Lucia is a bad person who always-hated MC. Eduardo asks the million-dollar question “What are you going to do?”

The ranch gets a call from none other than Octavio and demands to speak to Lucia. Lucia wants Awfelia to lie and inform him that she is not there.  Awfelia lies badly and Octavio, who is suddenly perceptive to his sister in laws schemes, calls Awfelia out on her lie. He is giving them ten minutes to get their act together.

Miguel who is the only happy person in this episode is excited because he received credit for one of his ventures in making the ranch more productive. Lucia breaks it to him that Tav called the house in an angry mood.  None of them want to answer Tav when he calls back. Miguel makes Lucia confront Octavio herself.  She prides herself in being the only person that solves the problems in the family.

Octavio calls back and gets right to the point. Why did Lucia lie and say MC is in Tamaulipas when she is not. Lucia feigns ignorance, saying he is talking nonsense. Octavio does not believe any of the lies flowing out her mouth and demands to speak to Miguel.  Lucia continues to lie (because that is what she does best) and informs him that Miguel is not around.  Tav calls her on her bluff and says perhaps he will return to see whether she is lying and he is sure Lucia is lying because he saw MC in Mexico. Before hanging up Octavio ruffles Lucia’s feathers by informing her that she is the worst woman he has ever known and he feels sorry Miguel for falling into her traps.  She gets mad and hangs up on him. This ensues a mini fight between Lucia and Miguel who is upset because he wanted to speak to his brother (Puh-lease, grow a pair Miguel!!). He does by picking up the phone, but only for a second, before Lucia feigns feeling ill and faints.

Lucia plays the “My baby is going to die card with all these worries” card, which Miguel happily eats up. He promises that he will not question her with the way she handles things. He wisely adds that Miguel will eventually find out when he returns and when he finds out their lies it will be worse.

MC no longer wants part of this world:
MC now has a fever again. Alejandro wants her to see a doctor but she adamantly denies. MC feels that she is bothering Alejandro too much. He has been spending so much on her lately. Alejandro thinks she needs to care for herself and think about her child. MC tells him she want to die which he admonishes her for saying this.  Seeing the box interrupts her thoughts and she finds out that Maria was here.  Alejandro inquires the contents of the box.  MC, who is insisting on dying, wants him to promise that if she dies these two boxes be buried with her. She tells him that in the box are papers about her parents. Alejandro inquires further about her past…. has she seen her father, does she know anything about him. She tells Alejandro that she has seen her father before (either she is lying or I am missing something).

Don Alejandro wants to know more about the man who deceived her. MC expresses her hate for him as she tells him the summarized version of her story with Tav.  He wants to know who the baby daddy is and now! MC could care less, and wants nothing more to do with him (Tav).  Neither does she want the baby she is carrying since the child will have the blood of those horrible folks she left.  Don Alejandro channels Papa mode by wanting to look for her baby daddy and make him fulfill his responsibility whether he likes it or not! She lies and tells him she does not know whereabouts of her baby daddy. She has had enough and no longer wants to talk about such depressing topics.

The End
Maria calls MC and it appears that she is returning to her town. Tobias inquires MC’s parentage or if she has any relatives. Alejandro mentions that she does have some papers in the box Maria bought. Tobias adds that perhaps in that box is all of her secrets. That box is the key to everything! We end with creepy, suspenseful music as the credits roll.

I can't wait for your take on this epi. Looking forward to the recap!

How long will they drag out MC and Alejandro finding out they are related? Any bets? I say the last week of the show.
I'm surprised they didn't have Maria end up staying at the mansion. You know, comic relief and all that.
Will they ever have a female doctor come to the house for a house call? In fact, will they ever have a female doctor?

I like my gynecological exams to be done by a female.

At least Solita is safe and sound, hopefully this will get her a peace of mind.
Toby horned in on the wrong person this time, Don Ale set him on his place with his look and he was immediately apologetic.

Can1t wait for your recap CeCe.

CathyX - Ana Brenda Contreras played a doctor on TERESA.

In CME there was a female gynocolgist.

True Vivi, but that's 2 in a field on hundreds of TNs. I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to choose between a male and female gynecologist.

Its finally up everyone! Sorry for the delay. There was so much sitting around and talking this episode!

Cathyx: I too wonder how long it will take for them to display the contents of the box. I'm gonna say 3-4 episodes. I for sure thought Maria will take over the position of the cook but I guess she serves a purpose back in Tamaulipas.

Great recap Cece!

I was so glad when Ale got firm with MC when she went into her drama queen, I want to die, mode. Glad he'll be keeping her in check that way. Wish grandpa would have been just a firm with her mama.

Yes. MC did throw in a few lies, like having met her father, which will make it even harder for Ale to eventually figure out the truth.

Funniest moment-- Don Ale and the monkey alone in the car together. The looks Ale was giving the monkey.

Isn't it great when Octavio uses his two brain cells? He always uses them a bit too late though.

Love the headings, love the easy conversational style. Felt like I was watching the episode with you CeCe and you were cracking wise while we watched.

And yes, I too prefer female ob/gyns.

funny recap cece! If only octavio decided to wear a brain everyday.

Agree Vivi, loved don ale's facial expressions when the monkey was moving around in the car.

Even though it will probably be forever until they figure out that they're related, I'm just glad that MC & Solita are both living under his protection right now.

Also it was pretty funny to see ofelia & lucia scrambling when octavio called. I'm liking EA as lucia, I think that she plays villain roles very well.
jlk

CeCe: Excellent and lots of fun. Your snarky asides about the HGIU's, especially Oblivio, were spot on!

I had hoped that Tobias would have hired Maria, but he obviously doesn't wear a beany and doesn't have a need for one since he's got no sense of humor whatsoever.

I am also wondering how long it will take Don Ale to sneak inside Maria's box of documents.

CeCe, nice work on this recap. I like "seeing" the episode again through your eyes.

Octavio's brain does work slowly, doesn't it? He's good looking, but just hasn't been there for MC when she really needed some support. He'll have to suffer and grow before he's worthy of the wild flower.

Laughed so hard at Don Ale giving the monkey the once over in the car. He was sorta "WTH is this??" Think I'll rewatch that scene in honor of Father's Day.

Good recap CeCe
Loved Alejandro giving the mono looks in the car, too funny.

CeCe:

Thanks so much for this most marvelous recap!

I too am wondering how long it will take before either Alejandro or Tobias sneaks a peek at contents of that box! I am hoping it is sooner rather than later.

So now MC knows for sure she is preggers. I couldn't stand the fact she thought she was dying or wanting to die again. I am glad Don Alejandro is her voice of reason and really wants to help her.

Luciafer has been caught, finally, in her lies. It's about time, well some of her lies anyway. At least now Tav won't be sending any more money to them! I hope he goes there himself and finds out exactly what Miguel and Luciafer did to MC to run her off.

I am impressed with Serafina. I thought for sure she would spill where MC was when she found out Tav is married to MC.

That monkey scene with Don Alejandro was so funny. He was keeping a good eye on Moctavio, lol.

Thanks for this most excellent, funny, and cheerful recap, CeCe. What a difference a week makes. A pregnant lady's tumble down the stairs is almost mirthful after jail and that horrific fire.

cathyx, I think there may be more lady Dr.s in TNs than you realize or remember... it's just that they are generally honest, incorruptible, and pretty much do their jobs whereas their male counterparts... well let's just say that they tend to be more colorful and morally elastic.

The thing that struck me as so hilarious was that there was this undeniably distracting simian presence, and yet I don't recall a single spoken acknowledgment by anyone of a monkey in the room...or in the car...or in the house. I thought for sure that at the very least Tobias would throw a mini tantrum, but... nopis.

After last nights episode I'm guessing that not only Maria, but also Santita will join the staff at the big house. Heck, maybe even José Antonio will get a job as a gardener.

Carlos

Great recap, CeCe.

Question - are we purposely holding off on commenting on the previews for Monday's episode? Did you see the previews? Just wondering. Hope this isn't considered a spoiler (since this comment is based solely on what Univision showed in the previews), but I think we should highlight (for those folks who only watch C.I. sporadically) that Monday's is a MUST-SEE EPISODE!!!!

Great recap CeCe! Loved the monitoring of the epi.
I'm wondering if CE really as cautious of monkey as he was in the car scene.Loved how he kept watching the animal like it's gonna jump his bones and eat him alive any minute :)

What really is bothering me that gramps ashes still in the box? Why don't they give him a decent burial? MC don't you find morbid that he's on your nightstand? It makes my skin crawl..

Thank you CeCe---I was so happy to get your recap this morning.
Oblivio finally adds 2+2---you guys
are so good, a laugh to start the day right on the second line. No need to spend $$$ to go to the Laugh Factory in Hollywood.

I also got a kick out of the monkey in the car. Don Alejandro was not the happiest camper.

Oh these looong weekends, I can't wait for Monday night.

Variopinta---Mas Eduardo por favor.
I think I see him falling for Aracely.
I have a different take on Eduardo.
I don't trust him. I see him as a greasy haired well paid playboy out
looking for a good time between the sheets in between flights. Will he fall for Aracely, possibly but
for now I see nothing more than a playboy with money. Not a good influence on Oblivio

Carlos---I did like the rural setting of Tamaulipas very much. I
didn't dislike the harsh scenes at the rancho nearly as much as some did. La Paloma mentioned Maricruz as a wild flower and I would add to that a beautiful wild flower in the country. However we have moved into Maricruz 2.0--the story is progressing quite well and if I have lost any enthusiam, it's only
a little. I was into Corazon Indomable from day one and I will stay tuned until the very end. How could I leave a beautiful country
wild flower or a beautiful city diamond?
the gringo

Thanks everyone glad you enjoyed the recap!

Vivi: Agreed but better late than never! I hope Octavio keeps on his path towards common sense.

La Paloma: Octavio has a long way to becoming galan worthy. I wish Tns didnt have to resort to keeping their galans dumb to make sure we tune in for 100+ episodes. I like my galans smart like Alejandro for Sortilegio or Rogelio (well he had lots of other issues) from LQNPA.

Madelaine: Sometimes MC is overly dramatic. I also hate it when she goes into her "Yo quiero morir" mode. I much prefer her concentrating on her revenge.

Carlos: It is strange that no one really mentioned the monkey. I thought Tobias would throw a fit!

LatinaInMD: So far I have been watching CI online so I never see the preview for the next episode. However you have me curious now. Cant wait till Monday!

The 'advances' for Monday show Maricruz in four or six inch heels trying to walk. The girl just almost killed herself in flats when she was walking up the stairs. How can Don Ale even think of letting her walk in those during her already delicate pregnancy?
As for the monkey, he hightailed it up the stairs when he came into the house and has not appeared in the bedroom during the crisis. Perhaps he went out to play with (annoy) the horses.
As for Tobias, I still think he's trouble for Maricruz but could be wrong.

You're right, Anon. 2:00. There were previews of high heels. As I recall, they started with low heels, then another pair of mid-heels, and finally some high stilletos. Maybe MC learns gradually to cope with her "tacones".

Thanks, Cecelia. I know that a lot of you love that monkey and I grew up on a farm and spent hours letting outside kittens and puppies walk all over me...but...I'm with Al . If I were in a car or room with a ,on key, I would not be taking my eyes off it. Mystery Dad is a sweetie. Happy Father's Day t o him and too our male commenters and recapper s ,too.

Love this recap CeCe. Have to say, this TN is getting more interesting. I find myself much more attention...well of course having Cesar in so many scenes doesn't hurt either.

I like that we aren't getting to much of a stretch between reveals or people meeting. Was so happy that Maria got the boxes already to Maria. Now Tobias, as any self-respecting nosey, slightly snobby(at this point--but he's a good guy I think) major domo should be snooting into the boxers soon if his boss doesn't beat him to it.

So amazing being witness to actually seeing some of Tav's brain cells firing. What a sight to behold! Now he needs to fill his oblivious brother in to the facts.

I'm guessing the whole preview thing is a new way to give us a fast-forward: Mati's progress to a new, smart and savvy young woman is shown, not by the a clock fave with fast moving hands, but the ever growing size of her heels.

Daisy

I finally had a moment to read the recap and it was wonderful. My favorite line:

Teo wonders why he needs so much sleep (I wonder at the relevance of this scene.) Am I the only one who thinks Toni is Hawt? Hotter than the the other 2 guys? Give this man more lines please.

MC was driving me crazy with the will not talk about anything of relevance stance. And Alejandro has the patience of a saint.

Solita makes me so sad, my heart breaks for her. The scenes where she was alone all day were killing me. She must be so lonely and scared. I hope that they give her a chance to learn to comunicate and even get some friends.

Where did Maria get money for the bus rides and the taxi? And Serafina gave Maria the address to MC's boss' house? She wouldn't give it to Oblivio because she promised, but she gave it to Maria. Hmmm.

On the question of revealing previews. If Univision shows them after the regular show that has aired on TV, then it's fair game to give them. I've been watching online, so I don't get previews. Anything shown on TV in the US is ok to talk about.

Cathyx- I think she gave Maria the address she had just gotten a call from the police chief saying Maria was coming with VERY important papers for MC. Otherwise, I don't think she would have done it. But I was expecting her to just hold on to the box and tell Maria she would pass it on, next time MC came to visit, which would have delayed things more. I am VERY glad the writers decided to have Maria deliver the box to MC right away instead. Serafina hanging on to it would have driven me crazy.

I forgot a word-- because. "I think she gave Maria the address because she had just gotten a call..."

Thanks Vivi, but I could have answered my own question with this.
I'm glad that she didn't give Octavio the address because she didn't know the reason that they were no longer together. It could have been a domestic violence reason, for all she knew. Maria is quite harmless and all she wanted was to deliver papers that MC was missing.

CeCe thanks for your recap. I really enjoyed your take on things!

Glad that Solita is with MC in the big house.

Vivi and others - yes, Don A watching the monkey was hilarious. Oblivious using his brain cells was quite a moment. I wonder if this is an aberration until the later in the TN or his two cells will work for here on out.

And Carlos - it was outrageous that NO ONE even mentioned our furry friend.

Gringo - Since I don't want Aracely to get hurt I hope Ed is a good guy but I think your assessment of him is correct.

Mads - ITA is was satisfying that Lucifera got caught in one of her lies. I know we'll have to wait until close to the end for her to pay for MC's abuelo's death along w/our requisite villain.

irisz79 True Story: my grandmother pre-planned her body disposal arrangements. She had a life-long phobia about "people viewing her in the casket and saying how wonderful she looks". Anyways, while on vacation, she dies. According to her living will, she had herself cremated and sent back to her youngest daughter. My aunt didn't open the box, but simply put it in the liquor cabinet. And there it remained for about 2 years until she buried her. So, every time, we'd go over my aunt's house and made a mixed drink, my grandmother's ashes were just sitting above the vodka. Family members knew she was there, but we didn't tell outsiders. True story. Totally true.

Thanks for the recap CeCe.

I wasn't feeling the Maria comedy bit.

Why is Teo dressed like the hunchback? Does anyone know if he will change soon? I noticed that sometimes his nose is crooked and sometimes, they make it straight.

Eddie's hair annoys me.

I would be smoking hot if I were Tobias. It's bad enough that he is forced to serve the pregnant maid. But now he has to serve the maid, her sister and their monkey. I'd find another job.

Octavio using his brain. Funny!

Cynderella

1. It is interesting that Maricruz calls Alejandro her guardian angel and that is also what Jesús calls Alma on PEAM. Telenovela trope?
2.) I agree with everyone that Alejandro looking at the monkey in the car was hilarious!
3.) I am SO glad Alejandro is not putting up with Maricruz's suicide bullsh*t. What is up with that anyway? Her life is so much better in la ciudad que en el campo, that you'd think she'd lighten up on all the "I want to die, I want to die" stuff. Also, didn't she learn her lesson from her previous suicide attempt? Solita relies on her, and now she is pregnant, too. I hope she starts seeing her criatura as someone to love and be loved by instead of a hateful extension of Octavio.

I don't have a problem with ashes in a box sitting in a house. My sister has had our Aunt's ashes for several years. And my aunt's dog's ashes too. She wanted them to be scattered in the ocean and we haven't had a chance to go together to do it. We are bringing my mother's ashes to Germany with us this summer to bury them there and have a memorial service. Right now they are probably next to my aunt's ashes. We joke that we now have a collection of them.

Cyn....My Uncle Eddie died and was cremated. He was a bright, quirky guy with 5 bright , quirky kids. A few years after his death, we had a big family reunion on our farm. I noticed an urn on the table on the porch...my cousins explained that Uncle Ed would not have wanted to miss the reunion.

I know lots of people who keep the ashes rather than scatter them. And here in Columbus, there is a firm that will incorporate a tiny portion of the ashes into a beautiful(but small) glass sculpture if people wish.

The hardest part for me though was seeing the ashes of a friend I had loved dearly poured into the ground in the small garden of an Episcopal church. I had not expected that and it was hard to see Olga go into the ground that way. But it's also hard to see a casket lowered into the ground. I can well understand that people would rather keep the ashes with them!

We all handle grief and loss in our own way.

Judyb...So true. Most of my relatives have been buried, but a few have been cremated. My aunt's ashes were buried in a regular cemetery plot. I wish that my dad could have been buried on the farm he loved so much, but that was not possible. Doesn't really matter anyway, I feel him there when the breeze sways the trees. He is buried in the same country cometary s my in laws, mother, and son. He is next to a field which is so fitting for a farmer who loved the soil.

Susanlynn/JudyB: You should write down all those family stories and put them into a book! Keep 'em comin'. I have missed those little gems from the two of you! In fact many of the bloggers' family experiences like Cyn's and yours above are what make this blog so much fun to read over the years, de verdad.

Hi, Jardinera. how are you doing today ? My mother always wanted me to write a book about our crazy family...very close...but crazy...or quirky depending on who you talk to. Maybe when I retire. One thing I've learned from teaching people from all over the world is that everyone has a story..his or her own personal telenovela. Did you check out The Happiness Project site ?

Re: Advances... This is Vivi's telenovela to moderate and she can correct me if I am incorrect, but I believe Melinama has stated that anything in the synopsis or the tv avances is legitimate and fair game. My personal rule of thumb is to avoid reading the in depth character descriptions because in my experience they can be very spoilerish;. I generally do not translate the avances as a rule either (if and when I can actually understand them) cuz I don't want to know what comes next. A change in heel size is expected anyway and may be a "meses despues" signal or it may be a false flag. Could be Raiza in those darned things.

Susanlynn: Yep. I guess you could say I backed into my own happiness project if you count my deciding I'd try to accomplish as many of my bucket list items as possible to expand the length of days and enjoy the shortness of the years remaining as best I might as being on the right track. LOL!

More to the point, I would say that Don Ale has joined the Happiness Project himself without realizing it now that he's attempting to straighten out Maricries. Just think how his joy will increase two and three-fold when he realizes how Dios and the Virgencita de Guadalupe have blessed him! A nice bit of morality play irony there, right?

Finally things are picking up!
So far I've been watching on and off, while reading the recaps to stay informed and have a laugh.
Maybe now that MC is finally getting the Pygmalion treatment, she'll stop whining "Me quiero morir" every other episode (so annoying) and starts plotting her revenge.
I love a good revenge story (or a bad one, I'm not picky) and I can't wait the day MC grabs Oblivio by the...you know what and makes him grovel at her feet for being such an idiot and a waste of a human body (that we still didn't get to admire naked, so that is not a plus, either).

Thank you Cyn, Cathyx & Susalynn for your family stories, customs are so different all over the world, over here the thing you described is very rare.
I had a friend who's brother died last winter and because he was a mega motor rider his last wish was that his ashes should be thrown into the river while all his friends and motor comrades stand over the riverbank at which they rode so much with working engines, the family had a hard time getting all the necessary licenses and permits to do the procedure.
It was so unheard of that they want go get the ashes and dispose of it themselves that people were just shocked, myself included, but of course I would have respected a brother's last wish any way just as they did now matter how uncomfortable I felt.

Irisz- How interesting that the keeping of someone's ashes is so unusual in your part of the world. It's not so unusual here and therefore the source of many jokes about people accidentally putting cigarette ashes or kitty litter in grandma's urn, or breaking the darn thing accidentally.

My dad's family chose to bury my grandfather on their land in Jamaica, as he wanted all his grandchildren and great grandchildren to play on his grave. And we did. Most of the neighbors thought this was strange.

Jardinera- Thanks for keeping an eye on things while I was hanging out with my dad today. Yes, I think the synopsis and advances from the end of the show are fair game, but totally understandable if some people even want to avoid those.

It would be interesting to know if some people would have walked away from this tn if they didn't know ahead of time that this was a revenge tn, and not one where the heroine is long-suffering and vulnerable throughout? The stuff that happens to MC and her family in the beginning, that puts the revenge plot into play, is pretty horrible. It would be unbearable if that abuse continued through the whole tale.

I still have my mother's ashes and it's been over 2 years. She would like to have them sprinkled or buried over my grandparents' plots. Eventually I'll have to take care of it. For now, they're in a wooden box in the closet in the guest bedroom. A friend of mine, a Canadian medium, visits occasionally and sleeps in that bedroom. He tells everybody that when he visits me, he sleeps with my mother!

Despite this tardiness in disposing of the ashes, I'm not a terrible daughter. I had a nice celebration of life with yummy hors d'oeuvres, sangria, lots of flowers, and photobooks for the guests to look at and my aunts and cousins to keep.

Giving this novella another try since Maricruz is now on the upswing in the big city. As many others, I absolutely loved the scene with Don Ale and the monkey in the car. And then to think that he has to take it into his home! What a hoot!

Recently, a friend's son-in-law died. My friend had collected seashells over the years, and her daughter asked for the large ones. When they had a celebration of life down by the ocean (he loved the shore), they filled up the shells with the ashes and taped them closed. Then they went into the waves, removed the tape, and threw the shells out into the sea.

The conversation about ashes of the deceased reminded me of this scene of a reunion interview of the Monty Python guys not too long after Graham Chapman's death.

Never could imagine, that I can discover about so many things simply reading recaps and comments to this novela. Lol.

Very funny clip. I think that's why they make the urns with screw-on lids these days!

Did anybody comment yet that the actress playing Arecely also had a small part playing Ruben's secretary in Que Bonito Amor?

Aleta, it's difficult enough to watch one Mejia TN, you want us to watch 2? lol.

CeCe, Thanks for the marvelous recap. I especially loved the title, "Oblivio Finally Adds 2+2 Correctly!" . Definitely a LOL moment and so true!

I've just caught up on everything this week and appreciate all the recappers' work to bring us so much pleasure.

The mysterious music (except the very end piece) was also used in MEPS. They used this music a lot this week, especially when Maricruz and Don Alejandro met and when he made the decision to have MC become a great lady. I found it distracting at first but have gotten used to it.

Don Ale wants MC around no matter what her "baggage" (sister, monkey, baby) but I too was surprised at Tobias' silence on the Moctavio issue. I think he was probably in shock when the MC family unit arrived to stay.

I found the girls toting "Grampa in a box" around very believable and touching. My parents and several of my pets' ashes are at home with me and I like it that way. Ashes usually are in a plastic bag inside the urns so that whole comedy routine is most unlikely despite the worries of a lot of people.

Vivi, I didn't know this was a "revenge tn" when I decided to try it because I really liked Ana Brenda in LQNPA. If I had known, I would have been more hesitant, not less. I don't want to see MC scheme or do anything bad to "get back" at her abusers. I just want her to do well and let the anvils fall from other sources on the bad guys.

MC's "drama queen" antics make me shake my head but make me smile as well. Maybe they are a coping mechanism for her. She doesn't talk about the really crappy things that have happened but instead diverts her emotion to things that are unlikely to occur.

Barbara

Barbara- I think as much as MC may say she wants revenge, at the core she is too good of a person to do real harm to anyone (unlike Lucia), so I don't think we have to worry. But, she likely won't be anyone's doormat anymore.

I am also more amused by her drama queen antics than annoyed by them, and I think that's what the writers intend. Clearly, it runs in her blood, since her mother was the same way. Unfortunately, her mother seems to have let her despair, anger, and jealousy take over her life. She missed a wonderful life with her husband, and prevented her daughter from having a secure and happy* childhood.

*MC was happy with gramps, but secure she was not.

Vivi, I agree that MC is probably too good to really hurt anyone but am still a little nervous about the writers taking an unexpected turn in that direction. You never know!

I don't think MC has ever been a doormat. Her poverty and poor education has made her more a victim than a doormat. She really had no power to counteract her abusers. It will be satisfying to see her triumph.

You know, I agreed before that MC's mom was pretty selfish to up and die leaving her daughter is such poor circumstances. But I thought about it some more. Gramps said his daughter died from a broken, betrayed heart--but let's face it, people don't really die that way except in tns. MC's mom was probably seriously ill and no one ever took her to a doctor! Ignorance put the blame on her broken marriage not a real illness that possibly could be treated.

However, I do blame MC's mom for extracting a stupid promise from Abuelo not to have contact with MC's father (adulterer or not). And I blame Gramps as well for continuing to honor that promise. Both of them kept those girls in unnecessary extreme poverty.

Barbara

I'm beginning to like this tn. Who was she who said that MC is a drama queen previously? She's right. Now MC wants to leave this world and have been leaving her last testament with don Ale.

Could it be that the Mocto is a symbol of MC's wildness and untamable heart? They could have easily had a dog or a bird for her pet who are behaved at most time than this out of control monkey. It must be difficult for the stars to deal with him for real.

If this were a Revenge tn, then it answered my question which I was having or wondering about. If MC went to live and work in the city, then I can't believe that the roles of Awfelia, Ewwsebio, the other guy's name, Lucia and Miguel's would have been ended there when she left. I would assume that for sure she'll come back to live there in the country or wilderness which she loves most.

I'm adding my two cents to the whole ashes story.
Where I come from (Eastern Europe) burrying someone is the norm.
I remember some time ago a famous director died and his family decided to burn his remains, at his wish (I don't remember what happened with his ashes, I believe he wanted them spread somewhere).
Anyway, the entire public opinion looked down on the widow for doing this because they thought it unnatural and against the director's wishes (although he had said several times in interviews what he wanted to see happen after his death). Since he was a very respected public figure, they wanted him to have a grave where people could go and light a candle or say a prayer.

I'm not at all surprised by the idea of having a loved one's ashes in an urn in your house or spread someplace that they loved, but that is mainly because I've seen this in American movies a lot of times; I would never want this for myself or someone in my family, because we find great solace in visiting the grave of the one we've lost - having him in a nice urn above the fireplace would be truly creepy :))) and having him spread somewhere would mean that we have no certain place where we can go talk to him, share stuff.
I'm not going to get into the details of didding up the deceased after a number of years in order to have another religious service for him (yeah, that happens, too, and it is considered the most normal thing in the world).

Funny how a telenovela brings out topics like this one...

Barbara- I also assume Lupita died of a disease (unless she just stopped eating). But she had been educated, and knew that she had a rich husband waiting in the wings. She also had two little ones depending on her. So even if she never wanted to go back to Ale as his wife, when she felt/sensed/realized that she was sick, she should have contacted Ale to get some medical care. She should have done whatever it took to stay healthy and stay alive for those girls. Instead she gave up, let herself die without a fight, and left two young children unprotected, making her father promise to never contact the one person who could help her daughter and the whole family. And all because she thought he had cheated on her. Even if he did (which I doubt), this was not enough reason to cut a man off from his child, or to condemn her child to abject poverty. Selfish, selfish, selfish.

CorgiMom---ITA, not a doormat for sure. Maricruz was poor but she had/has a strong spirit. That's not victim material.
I have been sitting at the Maricruz table from day one. I'm glad that you and others are filling up the seats. While some have left, this table is going to be a very big, full and happy table
for sure.

vida2---I really like your idea of Monito representing Mari's wildness
and untamed heart. I didn't think about that comparison before but that's fablous.
Yes, I can't wait until Mari goes
back to the place where she grew up, I loved it from day one.
the gringo

Vivi, you are right. I agree....MC's mom could gave taken some responsibility to get herself to the doctor too.

gave ---> have
