PEAM #63-6/5/13: Super-Jesus, Avon Police (And Counselor in His Spare Time)
Recap By Pablo
SuperJesús, whose superpower is his masculine intuition and his kryptonite is minding his own business, saved Fernando's life. He somehow knew something was wrong, followed Fernando to the street, not to the parking area, and with his super-sight, after turning his head to the sky, saw him about to jump the 400 foot building (really). He then ran up the stairs (did not use the elevator), made it in time, saved him and then scolded him for being a coward!! How about that?
Too bad his superpowers don't include being in more than one place at a time, and after that he went to talk to Julio about Xóchitl, otherwise, he could have saved Elías from Marta the therapist, whose hand and fingers ran all over Elías while she confessed her love for him. How did that happen? Well, through osmosis, or implanted memories, because all the love Verónica used to have for Elías, Marta was relating to and feeling the same for him. Of course, that happened BJ (before Jesús), when Elías was Verónica's everything, her life and her soulmate. How can someone avoid falling in love with a guy so great as Elías? The perfect father, husband, friend? The best thing about all this, now that Verónica has a different flavor of the month is that Elías could be 100% single pretty soon, and that is good news to Marta. My question is, and maybe the reason why Marta won't give therapy to Verónica anymore (she is afraid she could fall for Jesús with all this sweet talking about him lately), now that he has replaced Elías in Verónicas heart, house and mind, and picturing him as the ''new'' more perfect father, husband and friend. Would Marta also fall in love with him as she discovers all the qualities Verónica sees in him? Don't miss any deceiving previews, or you will miss the other half of the story, the one that exists only in the mind of whoever does the voice over in those previews... Don't say I didn't warn you...
And speaking about confessions, now Jéssica's turn, who tells Oliverio that she is being thankful for the great time she spent with him and his mother at Christmas, but what started as a game of seduction in an effort of climbing the secretarial ladder quicker than the pack, turned out as a real appetite for the flesh of Fernando, after she saw him naked getting out of the shower... now, as she is left ''without Juan and without the chickens'' her only option was to come clean with Oliverio, whose love is pure and transparent...
Verónica got home with a truckload full of groceries to prepare in less than two hours, an endless buffet for Jesús. The occasion? None other than being the best!! Yes! The best in the whole wide world!! Even Valentina is making a green sign saying that he is the best father. Elías, who got in the house inconspicuously lost all hope in recovering his loving family at the sight of that huge green neon sign!
Minerva is confused... she didn't know all this fuss was because of Jesús, not Elías. Verónica swears she will never, ever go back to Elías, at least not while Jesús is around.
Elías, who loves Verónica to death, is now between Marta and Marisela. Marta thinks she loves him because she has heard wonders about him, and Marisela think she loves him because he is handsome and rich. From the two of them, Elías is more than happy giving Marisela a chance, since she is young and pretty. I know comparisons are a bad thing to do, but here they are inevitable... even in a dark room and with my eyes closed, I would choose Marisela over Marta!!
Forgetting Valentina (or juárever she might feel), Verónica and Elías fight over the house and other unimportant stuff...
But enough about unrequited love and confessions, since there are bigger fish to fry.
At Avon, Patricia's trick made Rogelio mad with jealousy, or maybe humiliation, when he saw the picture she printed, and even when he saw Alma and Jesús live and in full color the day of the ''active pause'', now he wants to get to the bottom of this and someone will get fired. At first we think is Jesús, but doing so would end the TN abruptly, so we find another victim of the circumstances. The whole staff is there, even those who never go to any Hospital or Restaurant and whose only task is to walk like zombies and pretend they talk to each other in the back, reading catalogs and stuff...
Let's see... Jesús, Xóchitl, Jéssica, Ricardo, Julio, Don Gilberto, Oliverio, Fernando, Doña Susana, Alma, Yvonne, ant the rest (as in Gilligan's island), all listen to Rogelio complain about this company becoming a High School with pranks and everything... And when he asks whoever is responsible to take one step forward, everybody takes one back leaving Ricardo alone facing the terror of becoming another number in the unemployment statistics... who cares?
I do... If I was there, I should have blamed Marisela for not being there... that at least would buy more time to think of another pretext and wait until Rogelio calmed down and forgot the whole thing. We all know his brain doesn't function normally, so, sorry Marisela! You did it and you will have to deal with it when you're back from your fabulous dinner with Elías, how about that? Isn't karma a two way street?
Meanwhile, Marisela, oblivious to the whole scandal and overreactions, was magically converting the dress she borrowed from Alma in one her size. Chatita, in exchange for altering the dress (hopefully something reversible so Alma can wear it again and not use it as a baby doll), asks Marisela for two things:
Treat Don Pánfilo better in the future now that father and daughter are co-workers, and
Tell her a-l-l about Elías!! and she means ALL!
She says she is already treating her father as if he was a human being on her level, and the rest, will start as Chatita starts sewing the two feet hem.
Jesús, magnanimous as always and mimicking his 'tocayo' forgives Ricardo for all he did when Jesús first started working at Avon, goes to see Alma to help him intercede with Rogelio to restore Ricardo's job but then Fernando, the original unaltered, before the darkness and the light, starts screaming Encanto and calling Jesús names, then tell him about Discua leaving him and since Jesús don't like to gossip, pretends he is not interested in the whole story, but we know better, and soon Fernando opens his heart to Jesús, who now will have something to tell his new friends while they eat their lunch.
Ricardo leaves Avon making sure he still has Avon in his heart, and invites his friends over to mourn his loss. As they start making plans for the future and the employment expectations there's a knock at the door and El Señor Barriga, sorry, the landlord, asks for the THREE MONTHS he owes or he will evicted! None of his friends knew he owed three whole months of rent, but nobody has money to lend, so the next best option is for Ricardo to spend some time with Oliverio and Doña Genoveva. Great! Ricardo's life is better than the best soap opera, and Oliverio and his mom will enjoy it first hand!!
When Jesús gets to Valentina's house (at this point I am not sure if it's Verónica's or Elías) he finds the door open, complete darkness and nobody home. I don't know why Elías had decided to go out with Marisela instead of staying home and fighting for what he rightfully deserves, or at least thinks is his. His family. But no... he had to follow the fresh meat, the little girl in the Minnie Mouse shoes whose intoxicating scent drives Ricardo crazy. Well... whoever goes to the concert to see Cher, loses his chair (it makes more sense in Spanish) and Jesús takes his place in front of the huge table of the endless buffet of exotic dishes... Valentina hugs him, Verónica wished she had some mistletoe left hanging around and even Minerva's mouth waters watching that scene... Jesús is quite an eyeful!
Now let's go to Alma's penthouse, where Rogelio and she are spending some quality time together. Not for long though, because Patricia has decided to throw the whole cow in the grill and confesses to Alma that her boyfriend, the one Alma has heard about, is about to marry. Of course, that leaves Alma speechless, and Rogelio perplexed, and in a very bold move, he even tries to twist Patricia's arm but the coat is so thick his fingers hurt. Patricia won't shut up until she gets what she came for: plant the doubt in Alma's heart. Alma, who is empty inside and just goes through the motions with whatever wind that takes her, looks shocked on the outside, but we all know she is dreaming about all those kisses Jesús has given her... and that only proves one thing, she is sure she will marry Rogelio, definitely... maybe?
Introducing Teté Corcuera. Elías has taken Marisela to the lions den, I mean, to a very boring place where people still dance waltzes. And that is not the worse that could happen. When Mrs Corcuera asks Marisela which branch of the Pérez-Castellanos family tree is she from, Marisela, in a bold move, tells her that her father, Edmundo is not from Montemorelos, but from Saltillo, and he is the owner of a Construction Company that bears his name. Mrs Corcuera doesn't know him, and she should, because she reads the HOLA! magazine, but the lies come afloat when they start talking about places. You know, Vienna in Italy or the Villa in the Champs Elysées in New York...
Lucky for her, Elías was not around when she got caught lying red handed but that prompts her to ask Elías to leave, arguing that Mrs Corcuera was very rude and disrespectful. Ahá! Máximo from Orión is there too and they all share a delightful evening with Camera Music and waltzes...
I still can not make up my mind if Marisela was naive or just stupid, trying to be on the same level as this sophisticated lady who had class written all over from head to toe!
Susana, now a merry widow, flirts openly with Pánfilo and even takes him home to the slums. Will Pánfilo play with her heart? Where is Sebastian when we need him?
One day Chatita will work at Avon too and then the world will end.
Although Verónica has kissed Jesús on several occasions now, nobody replays (remember) them to death, but tomorrow, if what I saw is true and Valentina is not lying, there will be yet another one... under the mistletoe, of course!! and that will drive Elías bananas!

Ah, my Pablo Wednesday recap. Put the coffee down and enjoy!
"One day Chatita will work at Avon too and then the world will end." Well, honestly, at least if she was there, maybe people would behave and I wouldn't have to go thru all these HR cringe-worthy moments. I try so hard to park my former HR role with this show, but wow, it's hard. Rog's tirade last night...yeah I'll just stop now.
For those who love Mari, sorry for this, but I actually was glad that she didn't have such a great experience with the ivory tower folks she has been trying to pretend she belongs among. Bit of a wake up call. She doesn't need to fabricate a false identity and maybe she realizes that?? I don't see her, even as cute as she looked, with Elias at all. felt like he was dancing with his daughter.
Speaking of Panfilo...give this man a desk job someone!! Thank you Susanna, but I think Pan's heart is with Chatita, so I don't see a hook up there, but this might lead to Susanna finding out the truth about Mari.
Pati looked absolutely gorgeous sitting on that couch last night. Loved watching Rog's reactions to what she was saying.
Still want to smack Vero. And that poor little girl is getting put in the middle as a chess piece for Vero's hope at checkmate. And let's hope this is definitely one time the previews are misleading. If they hook up Chucho and Vero since he's convinced, well Alma is too actually, that she is marrying Rog, I may damage the TV.
Ricardo living at Ollie's. Now that may prove interesting. Wonder if he likes watching the women of TN's.

For some reason Univision was all pixilated for several hours and then off the air here in Syracuse last night. Needless to say I didn't see this episode. It sounds as if there were some interesting moments. I'll have to check out Hulu later.
Pablo, your descriptions of Marisela at the party and Paty on the couch make me anxious to see them. And I hope that the previews are wrong about Jésus & Vero if that's what they show. Once again I am so grateful for this site and the recappers -- especially when stuff happens like last night's loss of signal.

Thanks Madelaine for the corrections here and there, and thanks everyone who enjoy this recaps.
I guess Marisela should have been more prepared (I wouldn't go to a micro surgeon's dinner pretending to be one of them) for the unexpected or at least know how to manage this kind of situations and leave unscathed.
Of course she is young and inexperienced and has not read or traveled all this 50 yo Mrs Corcuera has.
Lies have short legs and don't get far. At least we all know why she is pretending... and is not what Mrs Corcuera thought it was... I am sure tomorrow, all Monterrey will know WHO was with Mr Franco and WHY. Mrs Corcuera spoke wonders about Verónica... is that the seme Verónica we know???
I am telling you, Patricia puzzle's plan is taking shape little by little. Maybe tooooooo littleeee, but what's the rush? Even if Rogelio gets married, she still keeps her allowance, trips to the Ranch and daily visits, right?
Why be a housewife with duties like washing clothes and cook when being the lover means you only have to be pretty all the time and never suffer headaches? Think Pato think! LOL!

Aaahhh... Pablo. Thank you for the early morning treat when I thought I couldn't face the other world news so came to read your delightful piece of work here instead. Yes, I think Chatita could end the world if she doesn't stay available in her forever Christmas at granny's apartment with its constant providing of lovely Mexican dish favorites and her slightly addled memory but true vision of wisdom.
Marisela did have a moment of truth when she couldn't fool the old rich bich with her fantasy of world travel. A trip to the library to check out a geography book might have helped. But the woman was rude too when she kept going on about Elias' fab, fab wife (I didn't recognize our little harpy in those words either).
Daisy, the HR cringe-worthy moments were causing me muscle spasms too last night having been a manager who wouldn't dream of humiliating workers and certainly wouldn't willingly witness it on the scale Rogelio can hit. This is where Alma's bland looks of disapproval with no attempt to rein him in made me so disappointed in her too tepid by far silence.
Veronica is off the charts too with her leaping to assume that Jesús will fall for her offering up the meat... once again little Valentina is nothing but a pawn to her self-centered Mom. And don't let's even get started with malpractice Marta. Sheeesh!! I may never go to a shrink again.

There's nothing a little duct tape can not fix. And I rather use that than a full paper bag. I know Marisela is annoying from whatever point you look at her, but that is a phase that will fade in due time (or sooner with a good spanking). Marta? I don't think that's fixable, unless, of course, since face transplants are already a ''success'', we perform a brain transplant, and that, I had yet to see... LOL!

I too was so disappointed in Alma in not stepping in to calm Rog down about that stupid photo, especially since she knew what went on that day. Her daddy-dearest did a real number on her because she cannot stand up for herself, or her employees, and certainly can't get a spine when it comes to telling the men in her life how she really feels.
If she gets all worked up tonight because she hears Chucho and maybe Vero...oh, my lunch is churning...may be together, I'll scream. Woman, who's fault is that? You insist on marrying one guy, but you don't want the one you really love to have anyone else...I need Chatita to hug me or an antacid.

Oh! The sewing basket had two paper circles with pins, those with plastic colored heads. Anyone remember when pins came in pearlized colors and in the shape of a tear (not exactly round)?

Marisela is not smart enough to pull off her farce. She either needs to study up on all the things she claims to be familiar with, or be like a real snob and just claim disinterest in anything she doesn't know about.
However, for being so "high-class", the woman humiliating her wasn't displaying much class at all. She was deliberately trying to make this girl she had JUST MET feel bad, and that is NOT good manners.
The other close-up was on Marisela's feet as she stepped out of her Minnie Mouse shoes for her dress fitting. Kinda weird.

Great recap Pablo, though as a "mature" woman (as most of your readers are) your assertion that you'd take the younger Marisela over Marta any day....well, stung a little. Hey, the truth hurts!
Didn't see this, but like Güera, your description, especially of the Pati scene, makes me want to. Do enjoy seeing out little minx stirring up trouble.

Well... I was not talking specifically about age, Cárdenas mom seems nice and/or Doña Susana, but I personally don't like the octopuss approach Marta has with Elías and at least Marisela, even when is not yet mentally stable or anything, seems for me like a better option...

Pablo did his usual great job recapping, but I would take Marta any day of the week, over Mari....Who wants to deal with the broke, very young and barely legal Mari, when Marta problably has enough money to take care of herself, and a spouse.
Plus I rank Matha as better looking than Marisela, when all things are considered... especially the bank account.
Pablo did his usual great job recapping, but I would take Marta any day of the week, over Mari....Who wants to deal with the broke, very young and barely legal Mari, when Marta problably has enough money to take care of herself, and a spouse.
Plus I rank Matha as better looking than Marisela, when all things are considered... especially the bank account.

I loved the sorrows can swim line! Blue Lass. I missed it so I'm enjoying it now in the post chat. I will be doing a second recap this week. Tonight I am stepping in for Tablet Jefa so see you all in a couple of hours. I hope the Vero/Chucho kiss is another dream of HERS not his. Maybe I will just keep my eyes on the keyboard to improve my typing and you can all fill me in later.
