PEAM #80-6/28/13: What Are Julio and Xochi Up To; Chucho Bonds With Pancho Lopez, But Will He Take His Advice, Will Alma Take Rebe's Advice?

Hola, Manda Peeps. This recap will not be in order, scenes have been combined so that the recap flows better. This recap will be in two parts. The first in Monterrey and the second in Toluca.

Happenings in Monterrey:
Chatita is now finished with Cardy and is about to leave, but needs directions of course. She encounters the three sillies and gets directions from them, but has a thought? Are any of them married? They point to Don Gil, he is the only one married in their department. She gets him to give her directions to his home so she can maybe sell Begona some Avon cosmetics and the other sillies joke that she just may need them, ha, ha!

Sebastian has come to pay Rogue a bit of a visit. He wants to know if Rogue has gotten rid of his amante Patymelt yet, cause Sebastian had to convince Alma to marry Rogue, ya know cause Rogue bailed ole Sebas out! Rogue is shocked, I tell you shocked. And that isn't all! He swore that Rogue was a good guy, faithful, trusty, yadda, yadda, and if Rogue doesn't break it off with Patymelt, he'll tell Alma all about what is going on! Rogue isn't taking this lying down, and tells Sebas if he tells on him, he'll tell Alma that Sebas was responsible for her Mama's death. It's the proverbial stand off here! Well, Rogue backs off and apologizes to Sebas and tells him with everything going on, in particular Alma being away in Toluca with that damned secretary, Rogue has been let go from Avon and Sebas is just astounded.

Xochi, Susanna, and Maricela are not working of course and Maricela and Susanna notice how nervous Xochi is, what is up with her? Xochi isn't saying, she is just nervous. Julio, comes into the secretarial pool and tries to calm Xochi, while Susanna and Maricela are trying to figure out what is goin on. Julio tells Xochi everything will be fine and off they go holding hands. Susanna and Maricela are left to wonder what is going on!

Oh, look Patymelt has gone to la carcel to visit poor Ferny! She wants to know the truth about what the hey is going on here. She thinks this is all Rogue's fault, and Ferny reminds her that if Rogue were guilty he'd be in la carcel instead of Ferny, so there, what about that? Patymelt tells a clueless Ferny that if Rogue is guilty, Alma will dump him like yesterdays trash! Should she explain this with apples? Sorry Nikki saying from AV, I got distracted, juarever!

Chatita has made it home and is having a chat with Vero. Vero tells her she is soon to be divorced from Elias. And Chucho is so in love with Alma! Chatita agrees this is an obstacle. Vero also tells Chatita she talked to Chucho in Toluca (Will add this convo later in the Toluca section). He is on bidness there with Alma.

Rogue is having a pity party for one and he is even mad at poor Sanson, who he still feels betrayed him by going to the secretary! Rogue is pithed cause he has no money, is under house arrest, Alma is with that damned secretary in Toluca and Sebas gave him an ultimatium to give up Patymelt! So who does he call, you ask? Who else Patymelt. Patymelt has downloaded those pics to her laptop and is looking at them when Rogue calls. She can't believe he called her, after that dustup with telling her to go the other day. She even pretends they have a bad connection, I've done that, it works, trust me! Anyhoo, he begs her to come to his house. She wants to know why??? Cause he wants and needs her, that's why, cara de impactada de joy de Patymelt!

Xochi and Julio are on that bus they like to take and talking about this thing they are going to do. I'm not sure about the makeover, but Xochi is worried about the clothes for this thing! She isn't sure about it and it's all Julio's fault! Julio reassures Xochi that everything will be fine!

Happenings in Toluca:
Pancho and Chucho are having a little conversation and Pancho has gotten the bright idea about Chucho being in love with Alma. Now everyone can see that but Alma and Chucho of course! They also talk about how Rogue is not a good person.Pancho tells Chucho all about his and Rebe's love story! Chucho feels that this love for Alma is impossible! She's married, so many obstacles, but Pancho also tells him to tell Alma how he really feels. They also talk about family, the 'hoods they are from and how those friends are the best. Pancho and Chucho have a great bonding moment and become good friends.

At the same time, Rebe and Alma are talking and Rebe tells her about Pancho being the love of her life, they had many obstacles to their love, but were able to overcome them. Rebe tells Alma a marriage without love is difficult and Rebe tells Alma she thinks that Alma and Chucho are in love. Rebe advises Alma to tell Chucho how she feels. See good advice again. Will Alma take it?

At the hotel in Toluca, Alma and Chucho are talking about Rogue, well Alma is, and is sure Rogue will be back at Avon in no time. Chucho tells Alma she will be doing a great job in Rogue's job, and congrats her for getting the Regional Director position, well she would, wouldn't she? She has been doing it all this time anyway, I digress. Right in the middle of this convo, Vero calls Chucho and Alma goes off. Vero has called to tell Chucho that Elias has agreed to the divorce and soon she'll be free. Chucho doesn't know if he should congrat her, cause the breakup of a marriage is never good, but she says he can congrat her that is. Chucho wants to know if Vero talked to Val about this, and Vero tells him she did along with Elias. Now he wants to talk to Val. Val gets on the phone and Chucho tells her he is in Toluca with Alma. Val says to say hello to her great friend Alma and Chucho sends Val more kisses than there are stars, Awwww. He hangs up, goes to knock on Alma's door, thinks better of it and goes.

It's Banquet Time in Toluca:
It's an Avon banquet to award employees for all their hard work. Alma and Chucho are going to the banquet and Chucho compliments her dress, and asks why he is with Alma but she zips her lip, Cande is already there, eyeing Chucho and thinks he is hawt! As does Maria Jose. Alma looks a mite jealous. Pancho takes the stage first and after a bit of joking, calls out the names of the best secretaries at Avon and has them come up on the stage, including the secretario, Jesus Garcia. Everyone claps. Cande, Alma and Chucho are backstage and Chucho can't beleive they called his name. Cande gets him to go out on the stage. Chucho finally gets out there and Pancho is kissing the hands of the secretaries and Cande hugs Chucho and Pancho shakes his hand. Pancho isn't done however. Now it's the Gold Medal Award. Chucho thanks Alma for nominating him.

Rebe takes the stage and Cande seems to have a show, similar to what Pina had, in Pina Opina, but this is a TV show and she interviews Pancho, who gives a few words. Back to Rebe on the stage and now it's time for the Gold Medal. Anyone wanna guess who won this one? Of course it is Jesus Garcia, the bestest of the best secrectaries at Avon. Chucho is just shocked and now it's speech time. So he gets up there and accepts the award for his daughter Val and also for his guardian angel Alma. Awwww.... Everyone hugs Chucho including Cande and Rebe and Pancho is a bit jealous about the Rebe hug. Cande interviews Chucho too. Cande calls him bon bon of course. Alma thanks Rebe and Pancho and Salud!

Chucho is wearing his gold medal and asks Alma to dance with him, but first she wants a hug. They are very tightly hugging each other and Rebe and Pancho say they are so in love, Chucho and Alma that is, just like Rebe and Pancho and Rebe mentions Porque El Amor Manda! Pancho and Rebe have one of their signature smoochies.

Now Maria Jose flirts with Chucho and wants to know if he is taken? No, but he can't be with anyone. Maria Jose thinks it's a shame, smoochies his cheek and Alma is wondering what is going on, and Chucho zips his lip.

Later Pancho kisses Alma's hand, Cande hugs Chucho so hard that Pancho has to call her off, Rebe shakes Chucho's hand. Then they all have what I like to call, the Lopez family hug, if you watch the opening credits of Una Familia they show it, they hug in a big circle and then jump up and down!

Later Chucho is alone and remembers what Pancho said and also what Chatita has told him that he is in love with Alma! Chucho goes to Alma's door and knocks and when she answers he tells Alma they have to talk! Here we end this epi!

Avances:
If we can beleive them, Chucho and Alma kiss, and looks like they may get busy! Who knows! It may be true for once!

Hey Y'all the recap is up. Please enjoy!

Another winner Madeleine! Love how you split the happenings.

My guess with Xochi now--I'm thinking not a makeover, but maybe an he's taking her to some event, contest, club where she can sing? He knows how good she is, and being on that bus made me think that could be what it is. Would love to see her just bust loose on a stage somewhere. now THAT would be a confidence builder and maybe leads to a makeover of a different kind for her.

The convo that Alma and Chucho had with their counterparts was much more fun then the meetings yesterday. I agree, Chucho and Pancho really hit it off and besides Chatita, think he found someone he could just lay it out there with. Interesting it's the head of the company there, but juarever.

As for Alma...well by the looks of the previews, we may get some smoochies. So help me it's another of those stupid dream sequences, I may have to go throttle the writers. But then again, she is a married woman which creates an interesting dilemma here. How far will they let Chucho and Alma go while she is still hitched to Rog?

That phone call by Vero all wanting to be congratulated for her divorce...what a tween! Woman has the majority of a 12 year old...no take that back, her daughter is 6 and SHE has more maturity. I cringe now when she shows up on screen.

Another rainy day...starting has marks on my wall to see how far this goes. Really getting sick of it! Hope you all have sunshine where you are!!

Daisynjay

Sorry for the word goofs--my kindle likes to change my words on me after the fact. That would be Maturity nor majority and HASH marks....ok, I need another cup of coffee this morning.

Fab recap, Mads, absolutely top-drawer. Can't wait to watch.

Your recap was such a great accompaniment to my coffee this morning! Thank you, Madelaine, for phrases like "the bestest of the best"!

Since I knew nothing about UFCS, I really have appreciated the recappers and commenters explaining who Pancho and Rebe and Cande were and the bear hug thing. Is this common in telenovela land to have telenovela worlds overlap?

There couldn't have been more lines in the theme song integrated into the dialogue in this episode. The operative word of the night seemed to be "intachable" "irreproachable" applied to both Alma and Rogelio.

I loved Sebastian telling Rogelio that he had to talk Alma into marrying him at the last minute. Also from Rogelio's accusations we have learned what was suspected: Sebastian was quite the philanderer himself. Maybe he sees Rogelio as a a younger version of himself.

Poor Sansón still having to listen to the dejected Rogelio telling Sansón that he couldn't even count on him. Rogelio and Paty clearly deserve each other. I wonder if they will end up together.

Those promos are really playing with us. Sooner or later Alma and Jesús are going to have to tell each other the truth. How long will they make us wait?

Jarifa

Since the recaps are way better than the episodes, I watched last night without really watching (I have to conserve my sanity for wednesdays).
I am losing interest. Looks like nothing major happened, blah!

Please wake me up when Alma loses her ''virginity'' in Toluca, with Jesús or with anybody else!!

Madeline....wonderful, wonderful recap. I love it that the "Suerte" gang has showed up...and I bet Avon loves it even more. Still can't get over the phenomenal stretch on brand promotion but, oh well. I'm so happy to see another glimpse of Pancho, Rebe and Candy from an all-time fave show. Have never seen this sort of thing before on Univision.

Also, in her prison visit, did Fer tell Patymelt that her strategy for a Rojelio-Alma break up wouldn't quite work out to Patymelt's interests after all since it would mean Rojelio was forever behind bars?

I'm with everyone concerned the promos could be just projecting another dream sequence. Not getting my hopes up. Also, since Alma and Fer were married "in the church" (priesr officiating) in Mexico, it may be that the only way their marriage can be dissolved is for one of them to die? I don't think they have "annulment" in Mexico yet. Unless Fer's imprisonment would amount to a special consideration of some sort. Most of the "divorces" I've seen in telenovelas involved civil ceremonies only, never the church marriages. (Except when one of the two died.) Anyway, my hope for next week is that our two love birds advance the story line for real, at long last.

Oops...just realize I got Fer and Rojelio mixed up in previous posting. Please forgive. Fewer and fewer brain cells at work and the names are not my forte anyway.

Anyway...I meant Alma and Rojelio, etc. etc.

Oh, I think they can get an annulment pretty easily -- the marriage was not consummated, and there were various kinds of frow-day, including the prenup classes with the wrong (that is, the right) guy. I'm not concerned. ;}

Thanks Blue Lass...I feel better.

Mads- Yet another wonderful weekend recap from you.

Fingers crossed that Pancho's and Rebe's heart-to-heart chats with Chucho and Alma had the proper effect. I think the preview monkeys may actually be telling the truth this time, since they showed Alma crying after kissing Jesus. That would totally fit in with reality as we know Alma is not going to take cheating on her husband Rogue lightly.

Isn't it funny that it was implied that Alma and Rogue had sex once a week, planned and like clockwork, until Jesus came into their lives. And then for some reason, it never happened again. It's been MONTHS! The zipper incident came long after their nookie stopped. Shouldn't one of them be wondering why this is the case by now?

Is an annulment based on non-consummation still valid in the Catholic Church if the couple had sex before they said their vows (even if they don’t after they say their vows)?

Fabulous recap, Madelaine. I loved the flow.
The recap was better than the episode.
As far as Rogue and Patymelt go- they are definitely - tal para cual.
I am wondering where is Xochy going?? I with you Daisynjay- maybe a karoake bar or some type of singing contest format.

I've thought for some time now that Julio's been getting Xochi ready for some kind of Mexican Idol show, where she will gain instant fame and recognition and become a big star. In any case, can't wait to see that those two have been up to. It was really sweet when he held her hand as the headed out of the office.

I thought it odd that the president of Avon and his wife were basically pushing Alma and Jesus to have an affair.

The whole awards thing was weird. It takes time to plan those things. You just don't enter someone's name to win an award and then go to the ceremony the next day. Plus, he got the gold award and he's only been working there for how many months?

I think a Mexican Idol type audition might be too much for our Xochi. I'm hoping she starts out slow with a karaoke performance.

Nanette

Watched 3x. First without subtitles, then English subtitles, then con subtítulos en español. In response to Chucho telling Pancho that he wants to be successful like he is, Pancho responded something like, "Yo voy las ranas" I would love to understand that better than "I'll frogs"??Maybe I just didn't catch what Pancho said?

Iguanas ranas (me too)

Thanks Pablo! Pancho loves his rhymes!

Just got caught up this morning -- and I'm with the rest of y'all, ready for some BESARSE CON SINCERIDAD. Dare we hope...?

Madelaine, thank you for the terrific recap. I am back home for a few months and I actually got to see this episode. Yay! I forgot how much I like the music. And a belated thank you to the rest of you recappers for the past week's recaps which I just caught up on.

ITA that the awards ceremony was just plain weird and completely nonsensical. Oh well, I understand that it was designed to promote the crossover characters (which I actually enjoy very much) and give Candy some air time to shake it up a bit. I thought the scenes with Candy and Jesus were quite amusing; she is so, ahem, overwhelming.

I'm loving Ricardo and Xochi, can't wait to see what they are up to.

Pablo, thanks for the "rana" explanation.

Thanks!

I said it meant ''me too'' but could translate more like ''same here'', since iguanas comes from ''igual-same'', so, ''lizards frogs'' doesn't mean anything in english, but is liek saying, same here, me too, and similars...

Yep, that makes sense. That reminds me how much I used to enjoy Pancho's crazy word-play when I watched UFCS. Participating in the Caray Caray discussion was VERY helpful. (As it always is!)

Hey, y'all thanks for all the lovely comments.

This epi was mostly filler, but funny nonetheless. I think Monday's epi is going to move things along, especially if the avances are true.

I too agree that Xochi may be doing some singing, cause I noticed when she walked away with the handholding Julio, she was humming. Maybe she will enter a singing contest, but not Mexican Idol, I too agree she isn't ready for that. She needs a huge boost for her self esteem and this may be the way to achieve that.

I will make an admission about Pancho. Half the time I can't understand what the heck he is saying and I recapped the second half of UFCS, lol. I am glad Pablo gave a translation of that phrase cause I never would have figured out what he said! Candy and Rebe and everyone else I can undertand.

I liked Rebe's look. She has become less stiff and Candy is exactly the same as she was in UFCS. She is still the bon bon, lol. I wish they had brought Enzzo and Chela back too. We really miss Enzzo don't we? ; )

For Pancho, who I guess needs to show he is ''pueblo'', or low class but with a big heart, they have to add all those things, that we all know what they mean, but never use.
Not everybody in México will get caught dead saying: iguanas ranas!

But we get the draft. Pancho is poor, hard working, humble, sincere, and so on... right?

Right. I'm sure they are showing that as a similarity between Pancho and Jesus. Not to mention Pancho has an excellent bulls**t meter so he would NOT be simpatico with Roge.

Thanks, Madelaine. This Toluca crossover has been fun, but I'm ready to get back to the real story - such as it is.

I've been thinking Xochi would be doing karaoke, but maybe it's something bigger. I would like for her mother to see her on TV and FLIP OUT.

Pablo, don't reserve your sanity for Wednesday night. Recap night is the worst possible time to be sane!

Muchas gracias, Madelaine! I enjoyed your recap much more than the episode.

I thought the whole awards ceremony thing was kind of weird. Do people in the television industry realize that most jobs don't involve as many awards as their own industry gives out? And how does a guy who isn't even a secretary win the big secretary award? Chucho is a personal assistant. Not to mention, he's only worked at Avon for a few months, with a little break, and he is frequently vanishing and showing up late and leaving early and all sorts of other non-award-worthy behavior. And yet, he is the hero, so all the other hard-working secretaries must love him and not at all feel that this is unfair.

I think maybe this is just tapping into a serious peeve of mine: Men tend to get better pay and higher esteem in the workplace in general, but even when they work in jobs more traditionally done by women, they seem to get treated like they're something special even if they don't do the job better. It grates on my nerves.

But enough of my crabbiness. I hope we do have some actual plot progress tonight, but I don't want Alma to get en flagrante and have to feel guilty about it. She should dump Rogue and THEN go for Jesus.

I think Vero and Sebastian should run off together and leave everyone else out of their misery. Could any two people possibly be more selfish and demanding?

Yay for recappers!!! Thanks Mads. I didn't realize until I read your recap that Sebastian had told Rog that he had to force Alma to marry him. That's big!

I was confused by Rog's threat to tell Alma that Sebastian is responsible for her mother's death. I thought Sebastian already told someone (Susana?) that Alma blames him for that. Does this mean that he did something even worse than break his wife's heart?

I was wondering about that, too. Rogue seems to have some hold over Sebas beyond the money help and whatever he did to help Sebas get a new heart. Alma already knows about her father's cheating and financial losses and all that, and she already holds him indirectly responsible for her mother's death. What else is there? Did Sebas actually directly or at least more culpably kill his wife? What if she isn't really dead? So many possibilities!

Julie:

I'm getting the feeling that there is more to Sebas than meets the eye. Also Rogue has some more secrets too I think, regarding all that money and what Yuri has to do with it.
