Qué Bonito Amor #55 (Mex 82-83.1) Friday 6/28/13 One Broken Heart Is Mended and a Bonito Amor Appears To Be Ended Or What a Difference a Week and a Half Makes

Capítulo 82 /83

The butcher is making sausage which is an ugly business.......They squeezed a lot into an hour again in this episodio.  Here are the

High-points in Half a Minute (cues the echo): Santos escapes his would-be executioners and makes it back to Mexico City; Mil Amores confesses his love to Ana and she admits hers for him; Coloso and the Mariachitos give Fernando a scathing hard time for keeping the truth about JAntos from them.  Maria faints after singing Me Equivoqué Contigo [I Was Wrong About You!] and still nobody but Amalia has a clue as to why; El Coloso begs Maria for a  chance at romance, and she tells him she's a one-love woman;Vanessa lies and cries to the schoolteacher about Rodrigo forcing himself on her and scaring her; Justo resigns his official position so he can return to Mexico with Wendy and help prove Santos is innocent; Maria gives a scathing tongue lashing to Fernando for keeping her in the dark about Santos/JAntos What'shisname and tells Fer never to darken her family's door again; The Godfather gives Giuliano one final chance to get the $10 million back or he'll be shoveling red hot coals with Arnold and Bruno; Maria starts to soften towards El Col and he tells Aventurero he's nearly got her to give him the nod; Santos shows up at the bar looking for Maria to explain things; Fer finds him and tells him she and the whole city know about him now and that she wants nothing more to do with either of them; Maria gives in and goes to the rooftop to give JAntos/Santos hell for lying to her.

Details to come!

Lo Del Pasado:
The whole colonia now know JAntos as Santos Martinez de la Garza, the International Criminal; Derecho and Curtis are ambushed by Mafiosi hit men;

Lo Del Nuevo: [some scenes combined and out of order]

El Lay: Santos manages to escape despite having Tommy guns spitting bullets at him, and eventually he throws them off the scent and runs for hours…er must have beamed… into the hills outside the city,  which is conveniently being patrolled by border guards.   Yes, he lucked into the dragnet of—as we’re still rubbernecking back here in Viewerville, we can only assume-- the Mexican “Migración” [migration=trek/emigration] agents. They warn him that next time if he’s caught without papers they won’t let him back into Mexico, citizen or not.

M.C.: Ana is icing down Mil Amores’ mil bruises at Soñador’s apartment where they’ve apparently been bunking these days.  He turns to her and stares into her eyes, kissing the palms of her hand and her fingertips.  She asks him what he’s doing. “—something I should have done a very long time ago.”  Fernanando embraces her passionately and kisses her.  She doesn’t fight it but tells him afterwards not to play with her.  He strokes her cheek and hair and says not a chance; that she’s changed the play [jugada=move, strategy, shot, throw] for him.  He can’t believe what a blind fool he was. There was love in front of him and yet he spurned and ignored it.  “—Love?”  Yes, he admits. Out of vanity he’d always made a feast [festin= feast, banquet] of it, but yes it is love.  “—I don’t know when I left the other 999 of them go, but I feel you anchored to my heart.  Truthfully, Ana.” They kiss again, he passionately, she tentatively.

In the barrio, the whole family is shocked at the way JAntos tricked them.  Everyone but Isa and Maria are ready to believe the worst.  Maria forbids anybody to say a bad word about him cuz there’s gotta be a reasonable explanation, doesn’t there????? El Coloso races out of the apartment, and he’s ready to explode.

Ana now confesses she’s loved Fer for a long, long time and that it used to hurt her badly seeing all the women he’d have relationships with, but she always saw through him and knew deep down what a terrific man he was.  “—I am madly in love with you, Fernando.” [estarse perdido por tu amor]  They kiss passionately again.

Somewhere in the bowels of the city, The Godfather dressed in a 1940's gangster haute couture zootsuit (Query: Where in the world do they dig up this stuff? And who in the real world actually wears this stuff?) some has Giuli tied to a chair.  He’s disappointed in Giuliano and pissed that he’s turned on him with the police.  No,swears Giuli, it was Arnold and that’s why he killed him!  Oh, yes, says Il Padrino.  How convenient to blame the others now that they’re dead and can’t respond.  The old man gives him one last chance to get his money back and reminds him that his life hangs by a thread.  “—A thread which I can cut at any time!”

**Er for more fashion pics, look here.

El Coloso rams his way through the door at Soñador’s and lays a major right hook on Fernando’s already badly bruised jaw.  “—You knew that El Pochito ése was a crook!”  “—That’s a lie!  Vargas explained everything to me, and you know I’ve always been on the side of justice!  You don’t know anything about his past.  Before you judge him you should listen to him!”  “—You’re a traitor and a liar like El Pochito!  Don’t bother coming back to the bar.  You’re fired!”

Meanwhile, Derecho and Curtis search Giuliano’s apartment and decide to come back with a warrant for fingerprints when they find the apartment empty but torn apart.  FF>>

In Tiajuana finally, Santos gets directions to the trucker’s major fueling depot and eventually Don Rigo and he meet up just as he’s about to get a lift to the D.F by another trucker.
=============================================

Meanwhile, Maria looks at a picture of them taken from happier times and asks him how he could have lied to her that way knowing that lying was the only thing in life she could never forgive.  (Looks like Maria’s going to have to make a couple of lifestyle changes.)

Justo asks Salvador, who says he knew the moment he looked into Santos’s eyes that he was a good and honest man, to help him find proof that Santos is innocent.

And, Justo must have figured the Attorney General to be a softy, cuz the next thing we see is him asking the official to turn him in for committing the crime of sneaking his son, The Fugitive From Justice and Internationally Criminal Extraordinaire, into the country in the trunk of his official car so that he could see his mother on her deathbed.

The AG says given the circumstances, he’s not going to be a hard ass about it and will overlook Justo’s crime [hacer omiso de=to take no notice of], though he shouldn’t.  He’s giving him points for having handed himself over to the authorities.  Justo admits Santos should have done that a long time ago, but because of following the advice of people he’d thought were his friends he ended up ruined.  The AG says he should also have looked into things much earlier himself and feels guilty about not acting sooner.  Justo says they’re both guilty of prejudging Santos.

Fernando arrives back in the dressing room while everyone is screaming about JA.  Colosso tells Fer he’s not wanted or needed there, but Susanito stands up for him.  The next we seem him he’s strumming in the background while Maria sings Me Equivoqué Contingo.

While Maria sings, Santos is taking his turn driving the big rig with Rigo.  He begins to feel nauseas (really?) and headachy.  Next thing, Maria faints on stage immediately after finishing her song.  The lights go up.  Ruben and Oscar race up to the stage and trash talk each other over who’s taking her where—to the hospital or home.  Oscar lets Ruben know in no uncertain terms that he’s outnumbered there and he’d better move it or lose it.  JAntos tells Don Rigo he’s got the crazy notion that something is happening to Maria.

Oscar carries Maria onto her bed and blames the nasty situation with JA for her getting sick.  No, she says, she was sick earlier in the morning and felt a little nauseous.  She insists she’s better now and will be fine.  Cara de ruh-roh! de Amalia.  The kids and Amalia leave Oscar and Maria alone together.  He uses the time to pitch for another chance to date her.  She tells him she’s a one-man woman and thanks but no thanks.  She doesn’t want to make him suffer for no reason.  (Aw, why not?)

Don Rigo and Santos now drive through a checkpoint and he is scared they’ll stop him and find out he’s a fugitive.  Rigo tells him to just smile and wave and drive through slowly and they won’t even stop him.  That’s what happens.  Emergency avoided.   A while later they are at a truck stop eating; Santos is nauseous again. (Man! A t.v.and historic first? A guy suffering sympathetic pregnancy from a thousand miles off and no idea his significant other is preggers!)  Rigo mentions that since the news is everywhere, Maria probably knows he’s lied to her about who he is and it may be better to forget about her; or if she and he do get back together, then the two of them should head for parts unknown and never show their faces again.  Santos adamantly refuses to consider it.  He and she continue thinking about each other and crying over their situation.

El Colosso and the Mariachitos help Rodri serenade Paloma.  She accepts his apology (by turning on the light when it’s over) and goes out to the balcony to give him his kiss.  Maria, meanwhile, hides herself in the bathroom and thinks back to JAntos serenading her on horseback, her professing her everlasting love for him, and their passionate make-up smooch.

The next morning Amalia brings breakfast to Maria in bed.  She can’t eat.  Amalia tries encouraging her to forget all about that good-for-nothing Jorge Alfredo or whoever-he-is.  She sees Maria falling to pieces over him and feels helpless since she doesn’t know what to do to make her stop hurting.  Maria agrees to make the effort to forget him, especially now that he’s been arrested and they’ll probably never see each other again.

JAntos and Rigo make it to Mexico City finally.  Don Rigo talks him into getting cleaned up and waiting till that night to visit Maria to avoid being grabbed by the cops [pardo=brown shirts].

In their manse in EL Lay, Wendy has helped Justo get packed and the two of them (?) are moving back to Mexico.  Nothing will stop him from clearing Santos’s name, he swears.

Back in the barrio, Fernando comes over to speak with Maria and to explain the situation.  She screams Holy Hell at him for lying to her about JAntos and his true identity.  He again tries to say nothing is what it seems, but she refuses to listen.  “—You know him--!”  “—No I don’t!  I don’t know the first thing about him, I didn’t even know his real name!!”  --For gawdsakes, if he were a bad man I’d have never let him get near you!  Things aren’t like that!  It isn’t the way it was and he’s innocent!”  “—Innocent or not, it doesn’t matter!  I don’t know who that man is! I gave my heart to a man who simply doesn’t exist!”

At the trucking depot, Don Rigo tries to make Santos see that if Maria does know about him now, she may never forgive him.  Whether he wanted to tell her the truth or not, the fact is that he didn’t and he’d better prepare himself for what comes next.

Fer reminds Maria that she’s in love with JAntos.  No, well yes, but that man’s a liar.  “—So he lied about his name, but not about the way he feels about you!  Many times I saw him crying, crying over you, hurting over you, because he was so afraid you’d learn the truth about him!”  “—He’s broken my heart!  Destroyed it!  Oh, how I’d love to see him face to face to tell him--!”  “—that you love him!  Yes, Yes, you do love him!  That’s the only word that should come from your lips because that’s the only thing that will cure the pain, once you recognize that!  That’s the only thing he deserves to hear!  Vargas has lost everything!  The only thing he has left is you!”  “—No.  He’s lost me also!”  Just then who has to stick his big nose in but El Coloso.  “—Don’t ever mention his name again in front of Maria.”  Maria seconds that and tells Fer he’s persona non grata around there just like JA.  Fer gives up and leaves.

In the meantime, Rodri and Paloma rub their patched up relationship in Vanessa’s squinched up nose.  She one ups them by going to see the teacher and lying, amidst copious crocodile tears, that Rodri grabbed her and kissed her by force and now she’s too scared to come to school.  The teacher takes her at her word and says she’s going to check into it.  Vanessa smiles smugly behind the teacher’s back.  Payback is sweet.

Coloso makes another pitch to Maria to start dating him as a she needs another man and can’t live the rest of her life without love.  Maria starts second guessing herself and says half-heartedly that may she should have given him a chance way back when.  (Viewerville boos and hisses whole-heartedly now.)

Night finally comes and JAntos finds himself outside the bar.  He screws his courage and walks in.  Fernando sees him and comes over to tell him that Maria knows about him now and doesn’t want anything to do with either of them.  “—Maria knows who you are and so do the guys in the band.  The news is everywhere.  I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be here.”  JAntos agrees but says he’s there because he must speak to her.  “—Please tell her I’ll wait for her up on the rooftop terrace.

In the mariachis’ dressing room El Col is singing up a storm and dancing around.  Aventurero comes in and asks what’s got him in such a good mood.   Col says he’s just a smidge from getting el sí from Maria now that El Pochito’s ass is grass.

Fer speaks to Maria in her dressing room.  She screams at him to stay the heck away from her.  Fer says he’s got a message for her.  What is he, deaf and dumb?  She doesn’t want to hear him defending Jorge Alfredo—or Santos, is it? Whichever!--at all!  “—You won’t have to!  He’ll defend himself to you personally!  He up on the rooftop terrace waiting for you right now.”  She goes ballistic!  “—Tell him he should leave!  Just Leave and right now!  I don’t want to talk to him!”  “—Are you sure?”  “—Yes!”  “—Really sure???”  She turns away, totally flustered.  Fer looks at her disappointedly.  “—Let’s not go there, Woman.  [ni hablar=the less said/no way/You’re kidding, right?]  He’s waiting for you!”  Fernando washes his hands of the deal and walks out of her dressing room and arrives upstairs to tell JAntos that it’s like he thought.  She’s not going to come and perhaps it might be better to wait till tomorrow to let her calm down a bit.  JA is desperate and says he cannot wait.  He’s really got to speak to her!

From behind him he hears Maria’s harsh response.  “—What is it Jorge Alfredo?  What is it you have to tell me??  Or should I say Santos Martinez de la Garza??  The criminal on run from the Los Angeles Police!”  “—I’m innocent.”  “—I certainly pray that you are!  It wasn’t enough that I fell in love with a man who wouldn’t tell me his real name; no, he is also a criminal, a fugitive!”  “—No!  A fugitive, yes, but not a criminal!”  “—You’re wanted for murder.”  “—Look into my eyes!  Do you see a murderer in them?”  They quibble over the number of lies till she says hey, you had me fall in love with a lie, a man who doesn’t even exist!  That’s the worst lie of all!  You have no idea how much I curse the night I met you!”  That hurts him to the quick and he finally loses patience with her.  “—MARIA!”

I missed the first 20 minutes of the show...how did Santos escape?

I didn't know Wendy was also going back to Mexico. How will she and Michael keep up with each other?

Which dummy is going to assume Wendy is Santos' wife/lover?

The teacher is real stupid to believe Vanessa, when the entire school has seen Rodrigo being all about Paloma.

Poor Fernando, he's trying to tell Maria what the deal is but she won't listen. Half of her problems with Santos could be solved if she would just STFU and listen.

I thought Santos would be detained in America and Maria would advance in her pregnancy w/o him knowing about it and maybe marry Coloso and Santos would find out after the kid was born, but now Santos is back. Please don't tell me Maria will be stoopid & claim her baby is Coloso's.

I'm with Justo: if she doesn't want to believe/stand by you, she's not worth having. I can't wait for Justo/Wendy to meet Maria & her family.

PLEASE don't ever let Justo & Amalia make googly eyes at each other!

"PLEASE don't ever let Justo & Amalia make googly eyes at each other!" Ugh!

Don't worry. You didn't miss much and Televisa's Novelasyseries.com will have it streamable by the end of the weekend if not today already. NO one knows how he got from the city to the hillside and got picked up. One minute he was in the city running into auditorium doors and the next he was being hunted by helicopters and mafiosi on the hillsides of a river.

Santos entered a time warp which took him to Alamogordo, NW where he was picked up by the border patrol and slingshot thru a magic bus that stopped two feet from the USA/Mexican border-walk where he became Mariachi and thought bubbled about his future make up with his bonita that crashed and burned "like blue ice falling from an airplane" when Maria finally lost faith because she thinks that if she had not had met this unreal guapo her madre would not have health problems, she wouldn't owe anybody, Colon-osses would not be drooling all over her like a fly on a %$^#, Paloma wouldn't be mad at "not mi hijo", small hijo would not have run into a carro on a razor, and thousandlove's would just be oneloves.

A great start, Jardinera. I'm in a rush, but I'll leave you all with this ..

You might be a QBA fan if:

• You catch yourself saying ‘Achis, achis, los mariachis’ in moments of excitement.
• People often remark on your strong stomach.
• You’ve decorated your beanie with roses and lace.
• You yell at your TV, ‘Ay, Jorgito. How could you?’ at least once a week.
• You’ve crossed ‘Elvira’ off your list of possible names for future daughters or pets.
• You’ve abandoned the drinking game and just do frequent tragos of tequila and mutter, “Whatever gets you through the capitulo.”
• You’ve got the hots for Jorge and you’ve got ‘em baaaaad.
• And the number one reason that you might be a QBA fan … You’re still watching this god awful, malevolently hypnotic, nonsensical piece of crap!!!

We’re a special breed. :)

I’m going to be gone for the next week, and I will miss you all. Please stack the corpses that occur in the corner so I can catch up with a body count when I get back. They’re starting to come fast and furious. Also, please, somebody needs to strangle Wendy and toss her on the pile, and if anyone is in the mood, if you would bitch slap your choice of any of the adult female characters, I’d be much obliged. Except for Irasema, Donas Pru and Rem, and the poor saucy wenches who got fired, I think they all could use it. Also, please someone remember to feed the Televisa rata. Ta ta. Hasta luego.

Jardinera, "shoveling red hot coals" I am DYING laughing!!! What a good one. :)

Anon@1052, very, very, VERY good! Alamogordo, NM! Not too far from Rosewell, either. Gotta love it!

Carolina, I second your list, amiga!!

I can never say it enough...you recappers are so incredibly good. 5Ft had me dying laughing yesterday with her wonderful asides.

The only person I really want to slap and slap hard is Maria. Her predictability is boring me to death. Plasticized Mother of Maria is next in line.

You got it right, Jardinera. "The butcher is making sausage which is an ugly business".

I think I need to look up this Mejia guy and find out what makes him tick. This is the first one of his "productions" that I have seen.

I am at a loss for words.

Fatima

P.S. They are back to the "numbers" in the "prove you are not a robot game". I can never read those numbers. Never.

Great work Jardinera, can't wait for the rest.

Ok, so now everybody is against JAntos except Fer,
I'd most likely bitch slap Amalia, what kind of mother is she??! Her - I told you so- attitude is getting on my last nerve, also most probably she suspects whats wrong with Maria but doesn't say a word what a hippocrite!

So according to the avances tomorrow Maria drinks herself blind let's see what Amalia has to say about that.

Fatima - Meija is getting worse by each novella, I just don't know why I keep watching.

BTW, which episode had the original serenata with JAntos on the white horse, I missed that?

The most ridiculous police escape ever. From LA to TJ in the blink of an eye and the chase scene was so obviously filmed in Mexico. SMH. Interesting how there apparently has been no APB notifying the police and BP that there is an escaped criminal running around.

Maria is a certifiable moron. Every bit of suffering she has endured has been strictly her own fault because she never listens and she has no faith. She also suffers from amnesia forgetting the many times JA tried to tell her his story and she didn't want to hear it.

Justo was right, a love that knows no forgiveness is not worth having and Santos needs to remember that. He has been virtually blameless of everything but the name change and palming himself of as a mariachi but it was never malicious only to save his life and protect the useless Mendoza's from harm. I certainly hope that he stops his endless groveling to his not so bonita and lets her grow up and learn to have faith.

Mama and Oscar are inches away from their dream of having Maria return to the fold and live in genteel poverty in their hovel. And Maria is now leading him on - how junior high. Throwing the ring at him was stupid she should have kept it and pawned it to pay the rent but nope too logical. I did wonder how in the end Santos would give her his grandmother's ring when Maria would prefer to keep the original one but now her ring toss gives him the excuse.

Now Roddy is going to be accused of what assault and will be in big trouble. Maybe then Maria, Coloso and Mama will get an understanding of what it is like to be falsely accused although since they are all so thick I doubt it.

I'm glad that Justo is going back to Mexico and Santos will have someone on his side along with poor Fernando who can't get the blockheads to listen. I too think it will be a kick to see Santos out and about with Wendy and the report will get back to Maria that he is with a beautiful high class blonde. Should be fun.

Mommy Dearest is on to the heavy handed clues and wait for it we have the miscarriage staircase just waiting for a fall.

Jar--Thanks (?) for turning this drek 'n dross into spun gold--nah, sorry it can't ever be real gold, even in your capable hands, no matter how hard you try. But gilt, yes, even guilt!

This is the line I liked best: "he'll be shoveling red hot coals with Arnold and Bruno"

This tn is wearing me down. Here I was sure, like so many of you that JA would stay arrested or wounded in an El Lay jail and not communicate with Maria, who will then think he abandoned her (if she didn't think it already), get nearly married to Coloso when Ruben takes him out and JA shows up on the white horse to kidnap her from her own wedding (oh, sorry, that was done already, twice, no?.

So now inside of one.5 episodes he escapes and makes it back to Maria's side. (Although truthfully, I thought he would wreck the truck first.) And makes it to the roof-top, scene of their romantic camino de amor and she turns into a spiteful harridan?

Where were Derecho and Curtis? They never even got out of the car when the shooting started. I'd call them a couple of fraidy cats. I can't bring myself to ask why, oh yes, I can, why wasn't Santos cuffed and in a locked patrol car? (Oh shades of El Tal and Pedro reaching through the window of the patrol car and opening the door from the outside--now that was classic escapism.)

Justo resigning his post and taking himself and Wendy back to Mexico? Granted he's homesick and in mourning, but the crime took place in LA. How is he going to clear his son's name from way down Mexico-Way.

Ok, now you, Maria. Just one month ago, exactly one month ago, on May 30, 2013, to be very exact, you and Jorge Alfredo were on the sidewalk talking very seriously. He tried to tell you about his past and YOU, m'dear, shut him up. You told him that his past didn't matter to you, whoever he was or had done, only his presence/present mattered and you could tell he was an upright, upstanding being just from his forma de ser and the look of love in his eyes (ok, ok, I'm paraphrasing, but I kept the episode on my DVR as proof). You uttered the fateful words that nothing and nobody could ever separate you two for the great love you have for each other. Then the man you pledged eternal love to told you how much you mean to him, can't live without you, sha la la sha la la. And then you kissed him, fuerte. You Believed In Him Then. You believe a TV news broadcast now?

Jar and Anon207--Justo may be lonely, but it won't be Amalia he makes googly eyes at. How about a reformed Mancia? (Just Kidding.) What about Paloma & Rodrigo's teacher?

Carolina--We needed that dope slap list of yours. Believe me, if this had been my first introduction to Jorge Salinas I would have wondered where everyone had parked his/her brains. I'm so glad he did LQNPA first--to me that role is the definitive mature, oh so riviting and sexy JS. Where does he get the strength and inner resolve to go on the set everyday for this? (Well, for him it's over and the money's in the bank.) But We Still Have To Watch You.

Sadly, this tn will forever be in his c.v. on Wikipedia and IMdb. (Ok, ok, everyone has a right to have some dogs among their life accomplishments, but it's just not expected at the peak of their careers.)

OK rant over. I'm suffering from more of these lately.

How is Giuliano going to raise $10M USD in the time he was given. And isn't this is third *last* opportunity to redeem himself in front of the Padrino. So we got to see his face. Didn't look too scary--and he didn't speak *any* Italian. Guess my rant wasn't quite over.

Carolina--"Stack the corpses by the door." Good one for LOL.

Be good and enjoy your time away from this. Besides us, you will probably only miss Maria's costumes.

Ok. All done, but the rest seems pretty tame. I'm ready to bitchslap Amalia and pull Maria's hair out at the roots. How quickly she forgets.

I was rather disappointed that Ana and Mil didn't show much passion on screen. Well, guess the bruises, cuts, and sprains are way too painful for feeling frisky.

We're on the down side with this one now. I'll miss the beautiful musical productions. Doesn't anyone younger that PM sing and act in Uni's young buck stable?

BTW--The serenata with Roddy was sweet. But maybe they shouldn't have made out so obviously in front of Vanessa.

Maria says she's fine and doesn't need to see a doctor. I'm on her side (or I wish I could be on her side). Wait until her dresses won't fit anymore. Maybe then she'll get a clue.

I thought Coloso fired Fernando from the mariachi band. Then like a wack-a-mole, he pops back up in the band.

Jar--Now that you brought it up about the lack of sizzle between Mil Amores and Ana. Here's my take on it.

Arturo Peniche, bless him and I do love him, reminds me a lot of William Shatner (give me time, you'll see where I'm going).

It's like trying to believe you are kissing Cap'n Kirk but you open your eyes and it's Denny Crane.

Just substitute Kirk for Jorge Luis del Olmo and Denny for Fernando.

Anita! This is NO lie, but for the LONGEST time, I've thought that Mil Amores looked like William Shatner. I am telling you the truth!

Also like it that you, too liked my fave line from Jar's great recap. Can't you just picture the Bozo shoveling those hot coals?!

This is kind of an odd novela, I have to say.

Irisz, glad to know that I'm not off base on wondering about this Mejia guy. :)

Fatima

Jardinera, this recap is your usual superb production. Wish we could say the same for the episode.

I rely on the recaps and casual watching to keep up with this TN. I've been disappointed that so many fine actors are caught in this mess.

Living in Mexico and hanging with the mariachi crowd might just blow the top of Wendy's head off. Don Justo will learn to be humble enough to appreciate JAnto's fine friends and will sit on the patio with the older ladies to hear the whole story.

I enjoyed Carolina's list and the other comments.

Thanks, y'all. The comments are funnier than the show's screwball storyline. Mejia always makes me feel like I'm watching a screen invasion by Roger Rabbit and Toontown when I watch his productions. This one's been the worst for that.

This show has crossed the line from being stupid to being ummm freaking stupid, did Paloma really say "it's on the tv, we have to believe it?" just how bloody stupid are these people? Oh my god will someone make please make Pablo Montero shut up, I.CAN.NOT.STAND.HIM, his screaming, his voice, everything about Coloso makes me want to take a bat to my TV. I don't drink but I'm going to start in order to get through this horrible, horrible show. Why did you do this to us Jorge, why?!

Carolina, that was as someone else said a "dope" list, be my interwebz friend? you're hilarious!

Good stuff, Jardinera.

Anon207, I think something was edited out of this broadcast, but when the Mafia goons chased the police van there was a near-gridlock at an intersection and they came out and started shooting. Santos somehow got out of the van and started running. He got through some side streets and through some buildings and there seems to have been a jump before we saw him running through a park. I don't know whether the helicopters were police or Mafia and it doesn't matter because he was captured by immigration cops who assumed he was illegally crossing from Mexico into California. They grabbed him, he did not resist, and they dropped him off in Tijuana. He probably has no ID on him and no money.

Never mind that it's 135 miles driving distance from El Lay to TJ.

Jardinera, I can name a much worse one: Abrazame Muy Fuerte. It was a remake of Pecado Mortal from 1960, and was probably 3-4x the length. The comic relief scenes were embarrassing and also involved characters who had nothing to do with the main plot (i.e., they were filler scenes). The two good things about that series were the performances of Cesar Evora as the nastiest villain of his career and Pablo Montero as the sacrificial lamb. Both took awards that year.

Oh, and let's not forget the opening song and the waterfalls.

Anita

Every actor has a couple dogs on his resume and believe me this is not the worst for JS. That would go to Dos Mujeras Un Camino with that A-list group of Laura Leon, Bibi Gaytan and Eric Estrada as the lead. Not only was the acting abysmal it ran for two years. I still shudder.

Add me to the list of those who want to bitch slap Maria for her attitude and forgetfulness. Any suffering ahead for her has been well earned and I will be Miss Merciless in watching. The entire Mendoza clan is rude, unforgiving and self pitying. I don't care for any of them. I do not include Isa who has more brains and sensitivity then the other three because she is not a Mendoza. I'm so pithed at the rest of the clan that I almost hope some classy lady or some slick lawyer, not Rueben, shows up in the barrio looking for a lost child. Maria and Mommy Dearest need to have the c**p scared out of them and both need to get off their moral high horses.

Laughed at the Fernando Ana lack of passion. That surprised me because Arturo P always has chemistry with his female partners and I've seen many interviews where his costars swear he is the best kisser in the business. He also never phones in a performance so maybe it was supposed to be due to his beating. We;ll have to see as we move forward.

I thought Coloso fired him as well but maybe Oscar doesn't have that kind of authority. We were all pretty much on target with reactions, Sue didn't go along with the rest of the sheep in Coloso's crowd and I am very curious to see what the reactions will be all around now that a few people know Santos is back in town.

Mancia better get her cards out soon. If they are never wrong someone will have to pay attention.

I don't know whether Fernando realizes that Maria never wanted to listen to Santos about his past. Not that it matters now because she's written him off, too.

Urban

Just one more example of Maria's bull headedness. Think I"m going to spend a little time and try to guess what stupidity will happen next.

Of the top of my head I'm thinking Santos will make another groveling attempt to see Maria and be rudely thrown out of the house by Amelia.

OJ and Ruben will realize they are after the same man and team up.

Santos will realize that all those noble poor people he considers his family have turned on him like almost everyone he knows and will fall into despair.

Justo and Wendy will ride to the rescue and set up a nice place in the DF while Justo and Santos work to clear the family name as the Keystone Kops from two countries and various Italian speaking hoods close in.

Maria will be preggers and will agree to marry a man she doesn't love after someone sees Santos with Wendy and she jumps to the wrong conlusion

DecieGirl: I almost think I like your rendition better than what the writers are going to come up with! LOL!

Jardinera and QBA Commenting Comedy Troup--

You guys are hilarious! I so love reading the recaps for this show (I only ever see the last five minutes after watching my La Patrona recording). The recaps and comments are comedic gold.

Did they really have Santos experiencing pregnancy symptoms along with Maria? That is...original and interesting. :) Will Santos also start packing on the pounds? I love it.

This is known as couvade syndrome. If this continues he will be useless in the delivery room.

However, I somehow think that they will not get back together until after the birth.

Jardinera - Great recap. Special thanks for the details on the crazy great escape. I thought I might've fallen asleep and missed something, but nope.

Doesn't Maria want to go to school to be a lawyer? Seems like she'd want details on Santos' case just on general principle.

Never know whom I'm going to wind up rooting for in QBA. Looks like it's going to be Irasema, but I so wish she would lose the dollar-store wig. I hope they don't wait till ultimas semanas for that.

Niecie, Maria...a lawyer...SERIOUSLY?@?@? There is no way, absolutely NO way that woman who NEVER listens could possibly be a lawyer. Plus, she's always jumping to the WRONG conclusions. Yikes. This chick is an airhead of the first order. Yikes and yikes again!

I'm glad you caught that Niecie, because I sure missed that somewhere along the crazy way!

Fatima

I totally agree with you Carolina. This TN reminds me of Triunfo del Amor which I stopped watching half way. I am down to watching this one two or three times a week. That's all I can stand. Maria is a nit wit. The mother is intolerable. The only people I like are the ones that live in LA and that's probably because they haven't been on that much. I also like the old ladies from the pension. I keep hoping it will improve but since it's a Mejia production I doubt it. I enjoy the recaps much more. Keep up the good work recappers!

New girl

Fatima, that's a good point. Maria's problem is her emotional over-reactions, which is a trait she seems to have gotten from her mother. Not a liability for a mariachi singer but definitely one for a lawyer.

Someone has to sit her down, duct-tape her mouth, and force her to listen to reason.

NewGirl: Welcome!
======
UrbanA: Thanks for the link. I thought possibly Wendy's pregnancy, but the script and cut-aways pointed to Maria.
====
Nicie/Fatima: Nice catch about the lawyering classes. I kept thinking she'd put it all to use when they were watching the t.v. news. Never happened.
======
DecieGirl: Selfish indeed. The guy's mother just died! Maria's suffering ahead is well deserved, ITA. The one whose suffering is not deserved is Santos at this point--he and Fernando are the only two characters I care about right now. Fer was right to scold her the way he did. Now that Santos is having to go into hiding even in M.C., I see him meeting up with Justo and moving back in while they take another year to get his name cleared and for Maria to have JAntito. If he's still got his huevos, let him stand up to Maria and back off so she'll have to come to him to ask forgiveness. I can't stand him being so whiny about some woman.

ViviDC: IMO, JS needs to pack on a few pounds. To me he looked way too thin at the beginning of the show, like he was still recuperating from his surgery .
=====
Carolina: LOVED your QBA Fan List! Keep 'em comin'!!

=====
Irisz79: ITA Amalia should have stayed in that coma. I certainly hope that he stops his endless groveling to his not so bonita and lets her grow up and learn to have faith." You and I are tracking here!
======

Anita: "Justo resigning his post and taking himself and Wendy back to Mexico? Granted he's homesick and in mourning, but the crime took place in LA. How is he going to clear his son's name from way down Mexico-Way." You need a beanie adjustment. Nope, on second thought, you may need to trade yours in on a brand new model cuz you're thinking is wayyyyyy too logical.

Justo has enough dinero to hire private eyes to help.

His next big problem is going to be Wendy telling Giuliano that they are moving back to Mexico. This means that sociopath will end up there, too.

Really, Wendy is too stupid to breed.

Couvade syndrome may also include mood swings and this can account for Santos' emotional outbursts from this point on. Cut him some slack on this because this is coming on the heals of his mother's death. And Altagracia was the best mother in this story.

BTW, thanks for the photo gallery of zoot suits. I'm picturing Cesar Evora in one as Spats Columbo in my Televisa remake of Some Like It Hot!

Que feo amor ... That which Maria has for JA...
No trust, no faith, no more "defending it from one and all" as she counseled Susanito or "talk and listen to him " as she counseled Paloma. Shame on Maria. She deserves to end up with Coloso or Ruben. Santos deserves someone better.

Coloso doesn't even deserve Maria because she would doubt him, too.

I'm going to defend Wendy for a moment. NOBODY has filled Wendy in on anything that's happened since the show started. Nobody told Wendy, "hey we suspect Bruno/Arnold/OJ set your brother & Michael up."

Nobody told Wendy, "hey, somebody's trying to kill your brother, they tampered with his plane & that's why it crashed."

Nobody told Wendy, "Bruno confessed to us that he, Arnold & OJ set up Santos & Michael."

Nobody told Wendy, "We suspect OJ killed Bruno b/c he was going to tell the truth about how he, Arnold & OJ set Santos & Michael up."

Nobody's telling Wendy anything. And them not telling Wendy is putting her, her baby, Santos & Justo in grave danger.

The problem with Maria (and Paloma) is they both have this fairytale view of how love & relationships are supposed to work & they got this from Amalia, who fed them that crap. Both Maria & Paloma IMMEDIATELY jump to the worst conclusions about Santos & Rodrigo, but who could blame them when Amalia jumped to the worst conclusion about Pedro, based on what Concho said and not what she knew about the man?

I was actually through with Amalia when she had a stank attitude about Jorge Alfredo leaving to see his dying mother. Maria will NEVER have a good relationship with anyone (Santos, Coloso, etc) until she learns to listen to her heart & listen to her man.

Ellie: Yeah, I'm about ready to tell El Col to put a sock in it myself.

======
La Paloma: "Don Justo will learn to be humble enough to appreciate JAnto's fine friends" as would any diplomat, right? Wendy might find she has plenty in common with Fabian and Elvira.....

Jardinera, ITA. Santos needs to listen to his father. He needs to walk away from Airhead Maria and let her figure it out on her own. Never thought I would say this as I always root for the happy endings, but I wish they would bring in a new love interest for Santos. One that he could seriously consider.

While I'm nitpicking...Maria's red lipstick is too much and is even painted over the margin of oversized lips that don't match the rest of her face.

UA, can you imagine Maria being on your defense team as a lawyer?! My head explodes at the very thought.

Anon207, hmmm, those are good points. It's been hard to be generous about Wendy, but you make some good points. I still think Wendy is a weak link...a weak and dangerous link.

Yikes! I'm turning into a Wendy Whiner!!

Fatima

If I were Maria I would have told Oscar long ago to stop with the "mi chiquita" crap. I realize he knows her since she was a teen, but there comes a time when that becomes inappropriate.

For the time being he should just stick to singing and keep his mouth shut at other times.

Don Justo needs to find out more about Ruben. Maybe he will take him down?

UA, I think it is good that Don Justo is on the scene. I think that he, Santos, and Mil Amores are the only ones using their brains. I think Don Justo will be seeing the big picture pretty darn soon.

ITA wrt your advice for Coloso.

Fatima

Nice to see we are all in sync here. Maria needs a brain transplant and needs to grow up before she comes even close to being worthy of Santos. She is whiny, insensitive and has no relationship skills. First time in all my years of watching novelas that I actually hate the heroine and were this on Telemundo she might not actually get the guy.

I agree that while Wendy has been a chronic whiner no one has told her what it going on. I fear she will blab to OJ that they are moving to Mexico. Then again in order for this story to progress in any reasonable direction the characters have to be together to interrelate.

I seriously wish that Maria wasn't going to end up pregnant. The way this thing is going she with the complete backing of her mother will keep it a secret and/or palm it off as Oscars. She thereby will cheat two men and go down yet another notch in my mind.

As for Justo being able to clear Santos in Mexico while the crime was commit in LA that shouldn't be a problem. It isn't a physical crime where you need to be on site, it is white collar crime and the evidence is in the books and on the computer and he can do that anywhere.

I can't help thinking what a horrific period of time this has been for the family. Let's say it has been six months during which Justo was going to get a major promotion and one of the plum diplomatic posts in the world, Santos and his friends were enjoying success in their business, Wendy was planning her dream wedding with her prince the Bronze one. In one fell swoop, Santos is accused of a crime, goes on the run, is almost murdered, finds himself in a country and world he knows nothing about, Wendy's wedding goes up in smoke. Santos discovers he has been betrayed by his friends, his father doubts him, his sister betrays him, his best friend goes to jail and oh along the way he falls in love. The fates not being kind to the family now Gracia dies, Justo leaves his life's work , Santos must hide and he loses the worthless one and the family he thought cared about him turns on him. Poor guy no wonder he seems headed for a nervous breakdown.

Decie Girl, you summarized that very nicely! ITA!!

Fatima

Decie: Excellent commentary on Santos's current situation to date.

ITA with whoever said a new female attraction should be introduced--NOT Elvira, but one who is actually believable as the competition to Maria. Santos needs an ego boost right now and Maria needs her come-uppance! As for Santos, those he thought would care about him and support him in M.C. have almost all given up on him and want to shun him. Those who'd shun him out of hand should get a comeuppance as well! Susanito is the only one willing to back Fer and I suppose, then, JAntos against the folks in the barrio.

If there was a computer forensic expert working with a forensic accountant they could probably figure out who actually transferred Santos' money offshore. There is no way Santos could have done that from an internet cafe.

Decie--So agree with your review. I hope Wendy at some point is told how dangerous their situation is vis a vis Orange Julius. I had hoped they had brought her up to speed off camera, but it was clear they hadn't when she told OJ that Santos had arrived.

I still think Justo needs someone in LA to deal with submitting documents for authentication and review, FOIA requests, filing court papers, consulting with those forensic investigators, lawyers, etc. etc.

I wonder if the money Elvira stole will ever come up again. I re-watched an old episode when all the bar staff was happy, sort of, and our two saucy waitresses were still employed there. Maybe she'll try it again and this time get caught.

Niece, et al. Good insight about Maria's temperment to be a lawyer. And the fact that she wasn't interested in finding out why he was a fugitive from justice and what she could do to help (as she had offered on several occasions--to help him out of his LA dilemma). It was all about his lie, using a false name that was enough to break off their relationship. Pretty shallow for someone who had told him she couldn't live without him.

Fatima--I don't mind Maria's bright red lipstick when she's in the bar, dressed to sing--it's a beautiful contrast with her skin, hair-do and costume. However, when Jorge Alfredo gets near those lips I cringe--does he really look forward to getting a mouthfull of thick, creamy lipstick--regardless of color.

Carolina--Thanks, we *are* a special breed. Deluded into thinking this was going to make sense and all the pieces would fall logically into place, we hang stubbornly onto the hope it will get better instead of worse. Rather than admit the facts, we spend quality comment time nit-picking (ya gotta love us).

In all of Mexico City, is there not another "angel" who will help Santos? Someone really worthy of him who will do anything for him. She must be dulce, bondadosa, fiel and of course, hermosa. Since it's a TN and coincidences are the order of the day, the New Angel should bump into Santos as he visits his father and Wendy in their new abode, start a conversation and strike up a friendship, then quickly become a true friend and shortly thereafter they fall in love. She'll just happen to come to work at the bar as a bookkeeper or official hostess or wardrobe person - anything, so long as she is there every day. She should become friends with Maria and all the mariachis and the saucy wenches and have her talk about the new guy in her life who now means everything to her. She should say, "he has some legal problems, but mi corazon tells me he is a good man, so I will stand by him no matter what. Together we can solve his problems and if he has to go to prison for a while, well, I'll be there to visit him every chance I get until he comes out so we can be together the rest of our lives. I don't care what anyone says he did, I don't believe it." Then they can have a celebration for whatever occasion, maybe another one of the mariachis will get married, and she brings Santos as her date! Maria will stare, but Santos is so in love with New Angel that it doesn't bother him at all. He does, however, ask about his little Isa.

I don't see that happening.

If by any chance Santos gets back to the bar (which I don't think will happen anytime soon) Elvirus will go after him again. He better not try to use that to make Maria jealous because it will only backfire.

ITA with everyone's opinion about Maria & Amalia.

I welcome the idea of a girlriend alternative however as it is a Meija TN I don't see how Santos will get one.
But if by any chance he'll gets a new girl, please don't be Elvira! Even if he'll want to get even with Maria for being a bullheaded and overly stupid.

Anon207, true about nodoby told Wendy anything but she could have asked and demanded answers.
As they say if you don't ask you don't get and in between two whiny fits she could have asked all she wished to know.

I shudder to think about the time when Santos clarifies everything with Maria (and it'll happen sooner or later for sure) and he gets Maria on one side and Wendy at the other at every family gathering

Nobody tole Wendy anything because she couldn't be trusted to believe any word against her precious Bruno or now against Giuliano. That is going to be everyone's undoing but I don't think it matters either way.

She will definitely get on Maria's last nerve when the time comes.

Anon.1:36AM --..."she brings Santos as her date! Maria will stare, but Santos is so in love with New Angel that it doesn't bother him at all."

Good storyline to a point: She's having his baby; and first is generally true love in these things, tho' the fem fatale competition could be a new lawyer to replace El Gusano de Giuliano. As I see that storyline playing out her faith in JAntos would show Maria up for what she's been: disloyal, disbeliever, and dismissive, while NLG saves him and saves the day. JAntos may seem to be attracted to her because New Lawyer Gal hung in there and is sentimental, sensible AND seductive --if for no other reason than she does believe in him. But in the end he and his true love de Maria will reunite and there'll be the big boda.

I'm actually surprised at some of the comments so far in this series defending Santos' concealment of the facts when there was such harsh criticism of Daniel during Amor Bravio for doing the same thing. Can someone account for the difference?

There are similarities to Daniel's & Santos' situations:

Daniel, accused of a crime he did not commit, escapes his country to Mexico, creates false identity, falls in love with Camila.

Santos, accused of a crime he did not commit, escapes the country he was living in to Mexico, creates false identity, falls in love with Maria.

While both Camila & Maria were (or could be) in danger from the bad guys, Camila would've been in danger from Alonso/Isa/Dio whether Daniel showed up in Mexico or not.

Before the reveal, Maria was relatively safe because Jorge Alfredo was a nobody mariachi. Now she's in great danger because once Ruben finds out Jorge Alfredo's true identity, Maria's (and her family's) risk factor rises significantly;

Once OJ finds out who Maria is to Santos, Maria's risk factor rises significantly;

Should Maria truly end up pregnant by Santos, her risk factor from both Ruben & Guiliano rises even more significantly.

I think Daniel may have been blasted more than Santos b/c there was the possibility he and Camila were first cousins. Even several of the characters blasted Daniel for sleeping with a woman that could've been his cousin.

Another difference is EVERYBODY knew who Andres really was EXCEPT Camila, her mom & the Komodo Gang. Nobody knew who Jorge Alfredo really was except Fernando.

Camila is more intelligent & willing to LISTEN than Maria. She was hurt but listened to Daniel's story. Maria has never listened to Jorge Alfredo the 157 times he's tried to tell her about his backstory. She's always hushed & shushed him.

Technically, Daniel did commit two crimes: He broke out of prison despite having been in there unjustly and then entered Mexico illegally. Anyone who knew that (except the priest) could have suffered legal consequences for not turning him in.

We knew that Daniel and Camila could not have been related. Besides which, first cousins can marry in Mexico.

Agree with everyone that Maria not allowing Santos to tell the truth was incredibly stupid.

Maria's refusal to listen is what I thinks sets all of us off. If there is one thing that drives most women crazy is someone who won't listen. In addition to not listening to Santos Maria has convinced herself he is a murderer. Of all the rotten things she has done to him with her lack of faith that is the one that would bug me the most if I was Santos.

Santos refused to forgive Bronzo but I doubt if he will take such a hardline with Bonita Not even though she deserves it. If she makes the least move to approach him he will be putty in her hands.

One thing is bugging me now. The other day I mentioned that Bonita Not and Haranguing Mama are committing a bigger crime by keeping the child they found on the doorstep. Somebody commented that they should tell Isa she was adopted. Do we know if that is true? I'm figuring they must have done something or they wouldn't have the papers to get her into school but I don't remember adoption being mentioned.

Lets see Isa is about 7 or 8, Paloma is 15. Yet when Isa was in the hospital it was the first time she knew that Isa wasn't a Mendoza. Are they trying to tell us that a 7 or 8 year old child wouldn't find it a little strange that Mama goes outside and comes back with a baby? It's not like she was gone overnight or for a couple of days. Paloma must have inherited the dumb gene.

Wonder when Gloria is going to get back and rescue Roddy from Coloso's questionble parenting skills. And what kind of trouble will be boy be in because of Vanessa's lies.

WE the viewers knew Daniel & Camila weren't first cousins but DANIEL didn't even know if they were cousins or not before having sex with her several times. And when Camila found out, she was squicked out that she was having sex with her cousin until Daniel told her he had a DNA test done and they weren't related.

But up to the DNA test, Daniel didn't know if he was her cousin or not and Vivi/Rafa urged him to tell her the truth instead of continuing to sleep with her.

Whereas in Santos' situation, the only person who knows the low-down is Fernando (and he told Santos many times to tell Maria).

I think the main reason Maria won't listen to Santos is deep down she feels Amalia is right, that Santos is just lovin' her & leavin' her (especially since this went down right after they had sex).

Amalia has done a number on Maria. I'd be willing to bet Amalia will see Santos out & about with Wendy & accuse him in the street of cheating on Maria with Wendy, and not listen/not believe him when he tells her that Wendy is his sister.

A separation might be good for Maria, though, because if Team Evul thinks Santos/Maria are no longer together (and if they think she's with Coloso), she will be safe (along with Amalia, Paloma & Isa).

Plus, I think Maria needs to decide for HERSELF whether or not to fight for Santos. She was ready to toss Santos out over Elvira, only to be told by Irasema that Elvira is the one who keeps sliming on Santos, not the other way around.

Maria's problem and Paloma's as well is that Amelia has pretty much taught them to cut and run when things don't come up all lollipops and roses. Maria doesn't have any way to cope if things aren't the way she wants them to be. It makes her a very bad risk for a long term relationship. How would she react if she married the poor mariachi and things got bad — she'd be headed for divorce court even though she SAYS marriage is forever.

I don't think the Mendozas are in any danger from the Godfather ones. The only danger is Maria being chased by OJ, Ruben (remember he broke up the business s deal because he didn't like OJ's reaction to Maria) and of course the blockhead Coloso. Let them all be distracted and fighting with each other.

I'm thinking that the only way Maria will ever learn the truth is that Fernando will tell Ana the whole story (and get a load of grief from her) and Ana who is basically a fair girl will tell Maria. We know Maria always listens to th wenches.

Any bets that when Maria tells Amelia Santos is back in town the first thing her mother will say is He can't come to this house ever and you aren't going to take him back are you.

Paloma is the dumbest one in that lot if Isabel entered the family when she was 7 or 8. However, I think Isabel is more likely to be 9 at this point and is just small for her age. That would have made Paloma 5 or 6.

What is the legal consequence for Amalia if this ever hits the wrong ears?

Diecie, I agree with you about the cut-and-run thinking. Amalia herself couldn't do that once Maria was born. Since Maria and Paloma are unmarried this advice will be in effect. She believed for years that Pedro was unfaithful to her and it looks like the revelation of that being a lie hasn't sunk in with her.

Even money on Amalia saying Santos can't enter the house. It's beginning to look like Justo needs to fix this.

I'm not worried about how Oscar will handle what's coming up for Roddy. When Roddy explains it all to him, he'll believe him because he knows Roddy is a good kid. However, their limited acquaintance will not help him defend him when he has to face the teachers. The one good thing that could happen is Oscar seeing that forcing a kiss on Maria was not a good thing to do.

The Godfather himself is no danger to Maria, but I agree that Giuliano is.

I was thinking we talk about this being a bad novela but I confess it amuses me. It has a lighter tone then most, beautiful music and gives a picture of a vibrant culture. The plot is fairly simple, the body count is low and you don't need a scorecard to figure out who belongs to who. Think AV.

It also gives me a break from LP's ever escalating violence even as we move to the end. For every one of us who thinks Amelia is a bad mother Antonia's got her beat. She killed both her husbands arranged the accident that killed one of her sons, caused the deaths of her unborn grandchild and great grandchild, tried to poison her stepdaughter and later had her killed, killed the girl's grandmother, smothered one of her lovers, and ordered the deaths of untold others. Frankly it is redeemed by some solid acting and by the presence of two of the hottest 40 year men in the business.

For all the cliche's we have avoid a couple of the big old reliable ones, no meddling or all wise servants, no poor employee in love with the boss' daughter or son, and no priest anywhere to be seen. I'm starting to wonder if the priest character has fallen out of favor.

Who knows? Did the original have a priest?

If anyone other than Aracely Arambula were the star of La Patrona I might have been interested. Antonia sounds right up there with Catalina Creel, Carlota Espinoza de los Monteros, and Gabriela Elizondo.

Aracely is dreadful actress and this is one of the most brutal novelas I've ever seen. I took a break for a month a few weeks end and missed a lot of horrible things but it is unrelenting. It has beatings, rapes, murders, torture, explosions the whole nine yards. There is some pretty hot chemistry among a lot of the characters. Many of us do not think the galan will survive. Telemundo doesn't always go for the obvious happy ending.

Have you noticed the lack of priests lately. I haven't seen one in AV , there certainly isn't one in LP unless it is for funerals. I wouldn't touch CI or PEAM with a barge pole so don't know if they have a man in black running around.

I wonder whether Mexico is becoming more secular. Ireland went that way after the Magdelene and paedophile scandals.

No priest in either CI or PEAM.

I thought Aracely was dreadful in CS2009, but she's not bad in La Patrona. I think she's really improved over the last few years. I also took a break from LP at the height of the violence against the protagonist. It was just too much for me. Definitely the highest body count I've ever seen in a tn.

I should qualify that-- highest body count in a non-narconovela. Antonia Guerra is like a narco boss the way she kills with impunity anyone who gets in her way, with no fear of the law.
