Qué Bonito Amor #38 (Mex 56.2-57) Wednesday 6/5/13 Jailhouse Mariachi Rock
mi amor esta por lo suelos
y tú tan alto, tan alto
mirando mis desconsuelos
sabiendo que soy un hombre
que está muy lejos del cielo
Ando volando bajo
nomás porque no me quieres
y estoy clavado contigo
teniendo tantos placeres
me gusta sentir tus pasos
habiendo tantas mujeres
Tú y las nubes me traen muy loco
tú y las nubes me van a matar
yo pa´ arriba volteo muy poco
tu pa´abajo no sabes mirar
Yo no nací pa´pobre
tu pa´abajo no sabes mirar.

If the Saucy Wenches want to continue as Maria's back-up band they need the appropriate uniforms. Alas, that's not likely to protect them from drunks like the ones in that dive.
Or Lorena, whose wrath should be directed at her husband. However, I know from observing a friend that many married women go into deep denial over who is responsible in these situations. While we haven't heard the backstory of their marriage or their problems, I am guessing that she has been mentally ill for some time. One can't fault Ruben for not wanting to deal with that anymore, but he is equally mental for his obsession with Maria.
I know it's par for the course, but I'm sick of hearing her called all sorts of vile names implying she is less than moral when she is probably still a virgin (That irritates me, too, but that's another story).
The last thing Maria needs now is to lose Jorge Alfredo from her life, but Ruben looks like he is hell-bent on it in the avances. Amalia will believe every word he tells her because she wants to. She seems willfully blind to Ruben's true motives and that is the greatest danger to Maria now.
i was LOL when Fernando just yanked Jorgito back and said 'Tu Chitón!!' then when Jorge just put a clueless face and asked what?? he said 'Shut up you [moron!]'... that made my night... it is interesting that Coloso's reaction to the gay 'serenade' in the original was completely 180 degrees from this time... Coloso was completely offended by the situation, but surely they found a way for Coloso to provoke Jorge into a fistfight this time as well.
So it looks like Susanito will end up having to defend Irasema from a pimp down the road... and I'm betting that the pimp can be traced up to Ruben.
Maria and the Merry Wenches certainly do have a whole heap of talent, especially considering they didn’t even practice or warm up!
I guess Maria’s anti-violence stance only applies to JAntos. Not only has she slapped a few people a few times and fought like an alley cat against the bad guy Lorena hired, she can wield a bottle in a barroom with the best of them. Nevertheless, JAntos is going to have some ‘splaining and perhaps some tapdancing and a whole bunch of te amo-ing to do after getting in ANOTHER scrape THE SAME DAY that she threatened to dump him if he does it again. Ay, chihuahua.
My, but that Fabian was extra charming tonight. Previously, I kinda liked him because he consistently gave Ruben good advice, not that it did any good. And I did enjoy his dressing down of Elvirus. But after throwing the glass at the bartender and his nasty names for Maria, let’s just say it’s all making sense that he is Ruben’s best bud.
“The MariachiMobile continues to follow unnoticed, because it's so stealthy.” Ohmygosh, how ridiculous was that? My dear husband, who does not watch TNs, absolutely loves the Mariachimobile. I have to say, it’s one of my favorite parts of this show, too.
Bronze Bruno needs to find some hobbies. Boinking Wendy and moping around hotel rooms is no way to live your life.
Gloria and Rod also need some hobbies. Weeping and wailing is also no way to live your lives, plus it’s really starting to annoy me.
Irasema, honey, I thought you were smarter than to hand over your life savings to someone to give to someone else. That whole situation is not going to go well, obvio.
I was glad to see the Mexican cops kicking back after hours. PAAAARTAY!!! It’s good do know that it’s not just the American cops who are a bunch of clowns.
Thank you, Paquita! I’m glad that you got a whole bunch of songs tonight and I loved your recap.
I wondered too, Martaivett, whether the encuentro with the gay couple had been updated for the new p.c. After all of Coloso's posturing and macho swagger, I would have expected him to be a little more pithed off and not started a PSA on changing social attitudes. Don't get me wrong, it was a good scene with good wisdom--just not out of Coloso's mouth.
The boys just can't seem to quit fighting. It's a good thing the popo's needed a little night music.
Ay Maria, as I watched her minister to mama and the girls, I was thinking the exact same thing you did (it *was* kind of in our faces, really), that there had been a bit of parental role-switching. I amgetting tired of hearing her moan about their debts and household finances--WE KNOW.
Carolina--We didn't know Ira had a pimp until the last few minutes of the show--too bad we couldn't have seen him hassling her earlier on, the scene would have been much better. I thought the same thing--Ira didn't get a receipt for her bundle of cash--and it *was* all she had. We know Susie doesn't have any. He had to break his piggie bank to buy her flowers.
A little Ocean's 3 there with the coordinated kidnapping of Bruno. Somehow, and we need UA's input, the scene was so chopped up, I wonder if there was anything left out. Tuesday night they are up on the hotel mezzanine scoping out Bruno and we see Jorge Alfredo coming down the stairs and then, whoops and he's gone. Where? I'm guessing Mil A and Riggo pulled him out of harm's way, but weren't they in harm's way, too?
Maria and the Saucy Wenches should have been singing a song a little more risque than Cielito Lindo to the bar flies. That's a sweet song you sing at birthday parties, not to guys who want to drown their sorrows and trade slutty insults.
UA, I'm having to agree with you that the Ruben-Lorena marriage has been dysfunctional since early days. Interesting we haven't seen her with her children--that would give us a little added backstory. We don't even know how old they are.
...and, you are certainly as fixated on Ruben as having his hand in the dirty dealings of prostitution and slaver as he is on Maria. I'm beginning to read that into all his outbursts and grimaces--he knows how to make threats, let's see if he is going to follow through.
Someone, please tell me who plays Fabian. I have seen him before and it's really bothering me to bits.
Fabian is played by Pietro Vannucci. He's Peruvian and has been in a lot of novelas, Fuego, Sortilego, MdF, the remake of CS to name a few. I've come to hate him almost as much as Ruben. Full of themselves and looking down on poor people.
I'm sick of the endless juvenile name calling and fights. These guys are supposed to be in their 30's and its all Animal House antics all the time. Enough all ready.
Urban you are so right Amelia will believe Ruben because she wants to. You mentioned her behavior to Maria as infantilizing and you are so right. The other day we had one of the more horrifying instances when Maria came home from the rescue Rod evening wearing JAntos shirt. Mama Dearest asks her if she slept with JAntos. I cannot think of a more inappropriate thing to ask your grown 20 something daughter. Had it been the 15 year old Paloma it would have been appropriate but to Maria, never. I've add Amelia along with Mancia to my list of the worlds worst smothers.
It was a surprise to discover that Irasema had a pimp. When she told Sue she didn't know if she could get out I wondered but know we know for sure. I'm in agreement that all dirty roads in the DF will lead back to Ruben or heaven help us the Godfather.
Lorena is pathetic. It is obvious that she had the money when the Weasel married her and she's been living in a dream world. I feel sorry for those kids of theirs. I do like how the Mariachi Girls put her down and sent her on her way. She is not used to be talked to like that by people she considers her inferiors.
JAntos has backed himself into a corner, albeit partly unknowingly by not telling Maria the truth. He has no way of knowing that Rueben has found a crook with his assumed name. If Maria or MD ask him if he is wanted by the police and he tells them no, he will be faced with the JA file whose crimes are far worse than the money laundering he is accused of. I'm thinking our boy is going to spend some time in the carcel. Actually he may be better off in a Mexican prison while OJ and & Co search the DF for him. He also has the trump card of calling Justo who has the influence to get him out of prison.
I question whether Lorena is a fit mother based on her current behavior.
The avance in which Santos was whisked offscreen is probably about tonight's episode. I don't think anything was missing from yesterday's.
If Santos phones home how much does anyone want to bet me he will get Whiny on the phone who will not tell Justo or Altagracia that he called?
In the scooter scene i doubt the other girl would have been Ruben's daughter. He is such snob as is lorena that no child of theirs would be playing with much less know a barrio child. The other little girl also knew where Isa lived and Amelia's name.
Lorena probably leaves her children to be raised by nanny's and only trots them out on special ocassions to be seen and admired.
Maybe we didn't see the pimp ahead of time because we would have recognized him?
I don't think we even saw the del Olmo kids at Ruben's party--even though it was a little late in the evening. Maybe Mejia ran out of annoying kids to audition.
Maria was fighting for her safety and honor against those drunks, so I'm sure she draws a line between violence with that motive and violence that is merely inspired by immature insults.
