Qué Bonito Amor #43 (Mex 64-65.1) Wednesday 6/12/13 Jantos is MIA, Bruno is DOA, Whiny is SOL

·         Bruto Bruno lies dying in El Lay as Whiny pleads with him not to die.  “Don't leave me alone!” He does the old dying man confession, telling her Santos is innocent and didn't commit any crimes.  Bruno asks for her forgiveness.  He tells her he never lied about how much he loved her.  He asks her to help him in getting  Michael and Santos to forgive him.  She kisses him, and Bye Bye Bruno.  Don't leave me!!!  help, help!!!

·         Maria is worried -- Jantos hasn't shown up as promised – so she goes out looking for him

·         Colosso approaches Rodrigo, who doesn't want to have anything to do with him.  When Colosso asks after Gloria, Rodrigo tells him in no uncertain terms he is not even fit to mention her name, much less know anything about her.

·         Colosso continues to deny Rodrigo is his son.

·         Gloria awaits her surgery. She's grateful to Daniela for being with her.  She worries after the surgery she'll be mutilated – even if she ends up using prosthesis.  Daniela agrees she won't be the same, she'll be better.  It doesn't matter if she loses her breasts (senos), she'll grow wings.  She tells her to have faith in her emotions, her feelings, and her heart.  Gloria weeps and thanks Daniela for all her help and support.  Daniela gives her a pink ribbon, saying they're sisters in this.  They come for Gloria and Daniela tells her to have faith.

·         Maria finds the huge Mylar heart balloon with a rose in the street and she instinctively knows they’re from Jantos

·         Whiny continues to cry over the Bronzed One's body.  We see a pair hands with a rifle removing gloves and then lighting a cigar.  I thought for a minute there was a woman – but tis none other than OJ!!!  tan-tanTAN!!!  He has a flashback to the day Bruno gave him the gun.  Sirens sound and with a fond “ciao bello” OJ departs.

·         Lourdes visits a plastic surgeon, saying she needs some work cuz some hussy is after her man!

·         Mirna rifles through Concho’s office looking for proof that Concho owns only half of the bar.

·         Jantos is pulled out of the car and thrown into a warehouse-type room.  His blindfold is finally removed and he's thrown onto a cushion slab.  Jantos thoughbubbles that each day he is closer to his destiny.

·         Maria runs to Prudy, looking for Jantos with her Mylar balloon and rose.

·         El Lay prison:  Dentist Michael is given the news – in echo vision - that Bruno has been assassinated.  He can't believe it when he's told Bruno died in Whiny's arms.  He flashes back to the day Santos told him Whiny's heart belongs to Bruno.

·         Wendy cries over Bruno's coffin – waaaaah. Her parents do their best to console her.

·         Maria wanders into JNTR, still carrying her rose and mylar balloon.  She tells Fernando she found them on the ground in front of her apartment.  Fernando knows this can't be good news and Maria senses this.  She wants to know what's wrong.  They're interrupted by Colosso and the rest of the mariachi.  She tells him she doesn't know where Jantos is – only that he's disappeared.

·         OJ calls Justo from the hallway just outside the velorio and reminds him this would be a very “entertaining game”, very entertaining indeed.  He comes into the room and gives his condolences to Bruno's dad and says how he always thought of Bruno like a brother.

·         Jantos groans and squirms and finally manages to free himself of the gag.

·         Maria is angered by the mariachis, who seem to be taking Jantos' kidnapping very lightly.  They all feel very badly and will talk with her after the first act.  Colosso stands his ground that El Pochito must be taught a lesson.  Mirna stares him down and tells him enough is enough.

·         Maria is now dressed in her Mariachi finery as Ana tries to convince her that Jantos has finally made good on his promise to leave.  Besides, she knows nothing about him and he most likely has another woman.  The other Merry Wench tells her to shut it.  Maria can only cry.

·         Jantos continues to struggle and manages to get Maria's ring out of his pocket and in his mouth as a Univision rat looks on.

·         Wendy tells her parents about Bruno’s confession.  waaaah

·         Maria tells the Merry Wenches that she's going to look for Jantos.  Ana insists he's no better than Mil Amores.  The Merry Wenches promise to go with her to find him.

·         Wendy – waaaaaaaa  Mom and dad worry about Jantos but know they can't leave Whiny alone in her time of need.

·         Maria again insists that Fernando tell her what's going on. She senses he's keeping something from him.  He suggests she pretty up for her number.  Outside the dressing room he wonders if Bruno might have betrayed Santos again.

·         Jantos flashes back to happier times with Whiny and Bruno when they were constantly trying to fix him up and pressuring him to marry.  Then he flashes back to Maria and telling her how much he loves her.  I'm still waiting to see why he has that ring in his mouth.

·         Wendy – waaaaaaah.  She tells her parents that Bruno's last wish was that she, Jantos, and Michael forgive him.

·         Jantos shimmies and squirms his way across the room, as the rat continues to look on.

·         OJ tells Arnold he had Bruno whacked.

·         Jantos figures that after 50 songs played in the distance, he's been there for 2 and a half hours.  Funny, this episode feels like it's been 2 and a half hours long.  More flashbacks:  his mom and he praying for him to find true love, the day he gave Maria her reboso.  Jantos has 2 more minutes of flashbacks.

·         Maria cries into her reboso as she begs for him to return to her.

·         Casa Mendoza:  Paloma tells Amalia that she and Rodrigo are novios.  Amalia's very happy to hear the news.  Amalia will think of him as a son.

·         Jose Carlos Ruiz is introduced as Pilar, aka 7 mares.  7 mares bumps into Mirna who he swears is the spitting image of his adorada Carmencita.

·         Roxana talks to Fernando about getting an apartment together but Fernando has no interest in that now.  He's too worried about Jantos to think about that.

·         Jantos, who still has that ring in his mouth, continues to struggle against the door, saying he'll do anything for Maria's love.  Now he starts to squirm toward the center of the room.   The rat continues to look on.

Mystery continues – QTH? Why does he have that ring in his mouth?

Thanks so much for this great recap. I too wondered why JA had that ring in his mouth. I thought at first it was a piece of glass or a piece of metal, when finally they showed the diamond sticking out. Oh and that rat looked so fake, usually they are moving around, this one stood still during the whole scene.

So Justo now knows that Bruno told Wendy that Santos is innocent. Too bad he didn't tell her about OJ. I hope she doesn't tell him anything else.

OJ is one ice cold dude. To shoot your own flesh and blood without breaking a sweat, that is cold. No remorse, I had one cold shiver going down my back after watching that scene and the one where he consoled Bruno's father.

Oscar needs to start working on his relationship with his son. He needs to stop denying and doing something. I did like how Rodri stood up for his Mama and told Oscar not to speak her name, he wasn't worthy, well not worthy, but close to it. He is like Oscar in some ways.

Ana is getting on my last nerve. JA is nothing like Mil Amores. The other Saucy Wenches seem to know this but since Ana is all disappointed in luurrvvee she is lumping all men in the same category. She is such a Debbie Downer, I wish she would just shut it and help Maria and stop tar and feathering JA.

Great Stuff, Paquita.

If there is a glass window Santos can cut his way out of it with the diamond.

We finally see a Televisa rat! I wonder what rat wranglers earn.

Giuliano is a Godfather-wannabe. His behavior at the funeral could have been a scene from one of those films. This actor is doing his job well... and I suspect he's enjoying every second of it.

From the look on Justo's face when that happened I think he's figured it out.

Oscar dug himself into a hole and now he has to climb out of it. He's had this coming and that should keep him busy for a while.

Brava to Maria and to Mirna for telling the frat boys off. It reminded me of some of the inappropriate laughter I heard in the office at the more disgusting things in the early seasons of Survivor. Only this is worse because he is one of them. Except in Oscar's mind because he won Maria.

I always wondered whether the term "gringo" is meant to be insulting. Now I know.

Siete Mares may not be a gringo, but someone should tell Oscar when the time comes that being an alcoholic is worse.

Totally agree about Ana.

Ruben was behind the kidnapping. The music is obviously coming from the strip club. Santos needs to find a way to free his hands. Why does Mejia instruct his writers to always do these things to this excellent actor?

What was learned last night:

We learned Darren got the news of Bruno's demise before Bruno was even cold.

Michael learned Bruno got whacked.

We learned Michael is in love with Wendy.

We learned Ana is a busybody who figures if she can't be happy, NOBODY will be happy.

Roxana learned Fernando is not thinking about her too tough.

We learned Lourdes thinks plastic surgery will keep Concho around.

We learned Concho may only own half of JNTR

Oscar learned Rodri wants nothing to do with him.

Maria, Fernando & the JNTR gang learned Jorge Alfredo is missing.

We learned Bruno bought OJ the gun he was killed with.

We learned Bruno & Wendy were trying to set Santos up with some girl named Raquel.

Justo & Gracia learned Bruno's last words were that Santos & Michael were innocent.

Paquita:

Loved your title too, lol.

Love this recap. Adding some personal --and often juicy ---observations to simple bullet points brings a lot more texture to the recap. And gives more juice to people who comment. Love comments like "getting on my last nerve," "whiney," and such. Thank you to the recapper and folks adding comments.

Useful observation about the strip club music and who is behind the kidnapping.

Will the diamond ring cut through the binding hand and leg ties?

And is Mr. Dimples left hanging in today's episode? Does swallowing the ring keep his air passages open?

Tighten my beanie time. . .

Thanks! I fell asleep and now have to take time to see the thing. I'll comment afterwards.

Concho only owns half the bar? He will end up bankrupt at the end of the story and his two harpies will have to work. I am guessing that Pedro has been dead about 10-12 years, so he owes Maria the back profits for that period. That should wipe him out.

I'm guessing that Santos will buy the place in the finale and a whole wardrobe of trajes. Maybe the other guy can start a Mariachi Academy.

Thanks for a great recap Paquita. LOVED the title!! And Wendy-waaaaa.

Just as everyone else, I wondered what JAntos was doing with the ring in his mouth.... and I concluded he must be in Ruben's strip club by the music. And because Ruben is a scumbag. Hope he gets a big, fat anvil. I had to laugh at the rats though! Did you notice they did not move? Plastic, or stuffed?

I missed the second half so I did not see Siete Mares. I would watch more often but this TN was on here at 10:00 pm PST. It is not as compelling as AB or even LQNPA (duh) and another local channel is no longer showing the "Twilight Zone" at 11:00, so why stay up?

Anyway, I do appreciate all recappers for your diligent work on this. You are the ones that make the story interesting.

Paquita - Thanks. "Jantos figures that after 50 songs played in the distance, he's been there for 2 and a half hours. Funny, this episode feels like it's been 2 and a half hours long." lol

Poor Michael. Not only is he an innocent man in prison, but he's got it bad for Wendy. Hopefully she'll become a changed woman with Bruno's confession.

Thank you for this fab recap, Paquita!

I will miss Bruno. At least he was trying to make good at the end.

They totally wasted Jorge Salinas for the whole episode (or more than an episode from Televisa). All he did was squirm around on the ground, maybe swallow a ring, and thought bubble. Yawn.

That plastic rat was so distracting! What the hell, did they think they fooled anyone with that?

I hope JAntos escapes tonight. I'm bored with JAntos tied up and thought bubbling. But the avances do make it look like something happens. But it's not good! However, since we can assume JAntos makes it to the end of the novela, I'm sure he'll pull through!

Looking forward (I think) to tonight's episode!

The ring thing was stupid I kept thinking he was going to swallow it. I guess among the many talents we have listed for JAntos being Houdini is not one of them. Those previews do look very ominous.

I just knew that last night would be a Whiny weepfest and sure enough. If the character weren't annoying enough the actress playing her is dreadful. She'd have been tossed out of any Acting 101 class and told this isn't the field for her. Too bad Justo and Gracia can't go looking for Santos but have to stay in LA with their useless daughter.

Coloso got back from Roddy what he deserved. I did laugh when the other guy told him the kid is just like you - I'm taking that too mean stubborn and stupid.

Ana's bitterness was really annoying. She's become one of those people like Amelia who become fixated on an idea and nothing changes their minds. Both of them are convinced JAntos is evil incarnate when he has done nothing to deserve it. Both women have transferred their negative feelings about men on to him.

I'm glad to see that Fernando is rally worried even if he is worrying about the wrong guy being responsible. Can't imagine what he will do since he can't go to the police without tipping them off to who JAntos really is.

Paquita, love the title, love the bullets with snark! Thank you!

“Univision rat” Ha! Love it. They should (and could) use this charming little ingenue more often. I see the rat wranglers (good one!) taught it the sit and stay commands very well. I wonder if it knows how to do something useful, like chew through rope?

That mylar balloon has her name on it. So that’s why she knew it came from her loverboy. :)

Whiny Wendy now has a new topic to whine about. Great. Just what we needed. *eye roll* “Wendy – waaaaaaaa Mom and dad worry about Jantos but know they can't leave Whiny alone in her time of need.” Remind me of a time when WW wasn’t in need?

Ana, Ana, Ana. That’s just plain not nice, to kick an amiga when she’s down. I thought you were better than that.

Sure didn’t like seeing my guy Jorge in such a bad spot. Pobrecito. Tomorrow looks even worse. At least he’s got the power of luuuuuurve to pull him through. BTW, I thought Ruben was on the phone with the bad guys and told them to put JA in the bodega. So Ruben is behind the kidnapping, but my question is whether there is someone behind Ruben, like OJ.

I haven’t seen Amalia do anything that tells me she thinks JA is evil. In fact, she’s told him she wants to like him and has said nice things to him and about him several times. I think she understands that his love for Maria is real, but she’s worried about it being enduring. She’s intuitive, and her intuition (and her common sense) is telling her that something about him doesn’t add up, and she IS right about that. She totally caught him lying about being a mechanic. Being suspicious doesn’t mean that you think someone is evil. You just want the whole story. I can’t fault her for that at all. I’m the same way.

If Maria wants to go the police, Fernando will have to stop her. But somehow I doubt she’ll think of that.

Thank you for the recap! That seriously felt like the longest episode ever! I kept looking at the clock thinking "Is it over yet?

I had a feeling Bruno would kick the bucket at some point in the TN. I knew it was Giuliano who did it. You say you thought it was a woman. I could tell it was him in the close up shot of his mouth.

I think Justo knows it was Giuliano who killed Bruno. G obviously gave him a strong hint.

I too kept think JA/Santos was going to swallow the ring. It was freaking me out.

My big problem with Amelia other than her overprotectiveness to an adult daughter is that she is a bit two faced. At first she was suspicious of JAntos then not so much, then he paid for Isa's hospital stay and she got all suspicious again She warns Maria constantly then flip flops and thinks things are ok but then as soon as anything that doesn't fit her script she is suspicious and questioning and warning JAntos off.Sure she has legitimate concerns and feeling he is hiding something but that self same intuition gets nothing from Ruben.

She doesn't seem to think in anyway there is something wrong or suspicious about an upper class man with money constantly showing up at her door trying to weasel his way into her good graces and Maria's.

He brings her supposedly damning evidence against JAntos which she believes without question. If I were in her shoes there'd be a five alarm fire alarm going off when this educated, well off and oh yeah married man keeps showing up to "protect" my child. But not Amelia, she practically fawns over him.

I didn't see how that happened. Did it fall out of his pocket and he picked it up so as not to lose it?

No matter; nothing will happen to it.

Giuliano killing Bruno with the rifle he gave him for his birthday; it doesn't get colder than that. He will sleep with the fishes.

Sad news. Pablo Montero's brother was killed yesterday: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/13/javier-hernandez-rodriguez-dead-pablo-montero-brother_n_3434164.html

Sad about PM's brother, may he RIP.

Ruben DID order the kidnapping of JA, he WAS on the phone before that with OJ and OJ said he was coming to Mexico, but he DOESN'T know that the man OJ is looking for is the one languishing in his bodega. That is just another TN coinkidink.

That Televisa rat was awesome. Obviously well-fed, smooth fur, even on its tail and sitting perfectly still, it looked like a stuffed toy (ew) ... and then it moved! Well done, rat wranglers. :)

That means Pablo has lost two brothers. OMG.

Really sad about PM's brother and that was the second one of his brothers who was murdred.

Those Telvisa rats work more than some actors and are probably better behaved than some. And they can act better as well LOL

I keep wondering if Ruben will show up to watch his captive or will he be afraid to show his face.

I don't think he will show his face this time. Speculation: Santos will escape this time. The next time he encounters Ruben his facial expression will give away the game.

Decie Girl, are we watching the same show? ;)

Amalia told Ruben in no uncertain terms to leave Maria alone because he is married. He said he's getting a divorce and she said that only makes things worse. She's been polite to him because they owe him a ton of money. That's all. She might be more concerned if Maria were madly in love with him, like she is with JA, but since she isn’t, Amalia isn’t going to alienate him because of their debt to him. I think that’s a reasonable course of action.

She's shifted a bit on her opinion of JA as she's learned more information. Yes, that means she's been inconsistent and I think it's fair to fault her for that, but it seems understandable to me because she's getting the story in bits and pieces. She's trying to get past her own intuitive concerns and be open minded for Maria's sake. Personally, I think that is a good thing to develop an opinion about someone over time and not make snap judgments.

What she said to Ruben when he brought the false info about JA is that she didn't know what to think. She was upset. She told Isa that nothing is certain. She told Maria to speak directly to JA and look in his eyes to see if his lying. That doesn't seem to me that her mind was made up and it seems very fair to Maria to encourage her to make her own judgment. She thought the evidence warranted investigation. It was a very serious accusation. Even young Paloma had the sense to ask how could Ruben lie about something so serious. I would have investigated it, too, in her position.

I get it that you don't like her, and that’s fine with me. We all have reactions to the various characters, sometimes strong ones. I like to come here to exchange points of view. But I don’t think the writers of this story intend for us to see Amalia as a bad person or a bad mother because, honestly, I haven’t seen anything in the show that supports that.

Thank you for keeping this one short. LOL! : ? ))

"Funny, this episode feels like it's been 2 and a half hours long" Yup. It was getting pretty good till this waste of an episodio was shoved our way.

I hope tonight's gives us some red meat again!

Gracias, Paquita! I'm having a strong sense of foreboding for tonight. Oh, I'm sure all the characters will be fine, but I predict if Santos gets out at all, it will be in the last 5 minutes. *sigh*
