CI: The Prince and the Pauper Pilots

capítulo 32

Carola doesn’t waste time in asking Alejandro what the true relationship between him and Maria Alejandra is.  Don Ale tells her unequivocally that it’s not what she thinks; MariAle’s not his lover. Carola continues her deferential ministrations, toadying to Alejandro while professing total trustworthiness and scrupulous management of the casino and its accounts, but also continuing to question his intentions in sending this irreverent parvenu to scrutinize her every move and to oversee her bookkeeping.  He tells Caro the girl’s a brilliant talent—well not for the casino biz, advises Carola.  She’s flunked public relations by snubbing their big whale, Emir Karim.  Papijandro gets a belly laugh and a half out of that little tidbit,  putting a couple more kinks into a Caro’s sphincter.  She poses the 64,000 peso question: does he still trust her?

MariAle, meanwhile, manages to do it again to the Harem-meister by refusing to be bought with a sapphire encrusted ring he drops into her palm.  “—I am my own person, Your Highness.  I am NOT for sale.”  He’s welcome to look, but not to touch—and only for the time he’s there to gamble as their guest at the casino.  She drops the ring onto the floor to make the point again and he reprimands her for her irreverent attitude and actions towards him.  He threatens he’ll find a way to punish her for her insolence.  She sniffs at him.  Word up, Prince Alarming.  He’s not in his country; he’s in hers and they don’t treat women as subservient chattel in her country.  Go tell somebody who really gives a rap, she says, and struts away.

Up topside, Teobaldo finds Aracely sunning herself and enjoying a good novel.  He becomes her one raincloud when she tells him she’s met a nice guy she’s interested in.

Don Ale assures Carola he’s got no reason to mistrust her and that it was Maria’s idea to see if she could be of some help after hearing him complain about the losses incurred at Isla Dorada.  Then why is she there?  A long story, he tells her, if she’s got the time and the patience to listen to it.  Caro is all ears and will make the time.

Teo continues raining on Ary’s parade, yelling at her for being such an ingénue when it comes to the facts of life.  Pilots are players and have a girl in every port.  If he gambles, he’s there for a good time and nothing more.  Does she even know anything about the man, like, is he married and does he have kids?  A couple of good head-scratchers, there Teo.  Ary is apparently not Mensa material, unlike Maricruz.  “—I forbid you to see him!”

Raiza races out of the casino after Mari, yells for her to stop and give her a chance to speak to her.  MariAle has got to be nuts to refuse the Emir’s advances, she screams at her in utter disbelief, not to mention throwing that ring back in his face.  What’s with the attitude, Toots?  "--The guy’s willing to shower you with riches and you’re playing Ice Queen to a Prince of Araby."  MA isn’t interested in being abused by some harem scarem of an arrogant Emir who refuses to recognize he’s in their country where women are brought up differently, she replies.  Carola’s going to send her packing once she hears about it, warns Raiza.  “—No.  I don’t think so.  I don’t work for her.  I work for Don Alejandro and I’m not going anywhere till I finish what I came down here for.”

Back at Papijandro’s manse, Caro has heard Maricruz’s life story, we assume.  She still doesn’t understand why the girl has to be there.  Well, just humor her like he has.  No harm since she’s got nothing to hide and eventually the young woman will get bored or tired and leave.  Ok.  BTW, Ale, Caro says, would you ever consider selling the casino to me?  Of course, I’d have to take a large loan out and pay it back over a number of years or so.  Well, if it’s going to be that difficult to come up with the cash, perhaps he should consider selling it to somebody else instead, he counters.  No, she’s got first dibs as his business partner, right? (Check.) “--Hmmm.  Well, let’s just wait to see once the casino’s back on its feet financially again and then we can discuss it.” (Checkmate.) Caro’s sphincter gets another kink.  She changes the subject to ask if once she’s back to the casino can she put a muzzle on his guard dog?  His answer is an unambiguous NO.

Meanwhile, Ary and Teo continue their discussion below decks.  She insists Eddy and she are in love.  No, he tries to explain, she only thinks she is cuz at her age she is only in love with the idea of being in love and not in love for love’s sake.  (I think… they call it ♫♪ puppy-love ♪♫…..)  “--No, he’s just looking for female companionship when he overnights on one of his flights.”

Back at Narvaez Central, Miguel is worried at not hearing back from Octavio.  Lucia suggests that he most probably is very busy with his job and he seemed to believe the whopper they told him about MC, sissy and Gramps still in hog heaven with all the leftovers they’re supposedly still getting delivered daily.  Miguel has a momentary twinge of angst double-dealing his blood this way, but Luciafer simply mentions she’s waiting for more of Tav’s casita-building money to come rolling in and that seems to salve his conscience toots sweet.

The weekend arrives.  Tav and Eduardo arrive at the hotel about the same time Prince Karim drops by MariAle’s suite, imploring her himself and ignoring his country’s protocol Karim points out, to spend the day with him on his private island.  She’ll enjoy herself immensely with him, he promises her.  “—I’m not the only woman here.  You must have lots of beautiful woman around here throwing themselves at your feet!”  “—I only wish to be with you.”  Finally she agrees on one condition.  “—What?”  She wants to bring a chaperon of her choosing.  He reluctantly accepts.

Mari tells herself that she’s going to teach this arrogant harem hog a lesson about independent, freeborn and freethinking woman unwilling to be bought and bridled at any price.   She asks Teobaldo to be her companion/bodyguard while she spends time with the shiek and he, flattered and flummoxed, happily accepts.

Meanwhile, Octavio can’t get Maria Alejandra and her likeness to Maricruz out of his head. They look so much alike but man, their personalities are 180 degrees out.  He tells himself he will ignore her after the snide way she treated him last time.  Yes, he's determined not to say a word to her!  (Viewerville gives him about as much chance of sticking to his guns as a snowball in Hell.)

================

Tav has ants in his pants apparently.  Tav decides to sit and wait in the hotel lobby for MariAle to show.  (Now that is a guy with zero social life.)  He has a serious talk with himself after waiting without luck to get a sneak peek at MA..  Yeah, he has to admit it’s cuz she reminds him so much of dad-gum Maricruz!  Ok, okay. Correction.  Maricruz with a make-over.

Carola returns to the casino after her chat with don Ale and tells herself that sooner or later she’ll own the whole thing.  Ale’s going to drop dead sooner than later and since his daughter has never shown up, it should be smooth sailing…..Teo comes in to ask permission to join La Mendoza for her afternoon lunch with Emir Karim on his private island.  She says fine and advises him to be a good pimp if the opportunity arises.

Tav decides he’ll walk over to the casino to try for a bit more face time with MariAle after all.

Raiza comes to Caro’s office a bit later.  Caro tells Raiza, she’s got the idea that Ale sent La Mendoza there to get her out of his hair rather than to keep an eye on them.  “--He admitted he still has complete confidence in me.”  Raiza’s there to complain about the way Mari spurned Karim’s attentions in front of everyone in the casino the night before.  Raiza can’t believe the broad would turn down the chance to become rich overnight.  Caro says it’s probably all part of the devious wench’s way to score big with the Emir by playing hard to get.

On his way over from his hotel Tav sees MariAle getting into the limo with El Kar’m del Harem.  “--Slut!” Back in his hotel room, Tav decides he needs a good talk with himself about this obsession with MC/MA.  “--Self, if I’m so upset with her snotty attitude and slutty ways then why am I so interested in her?”  Self says, really dude?  If you gotta ask, man, you don’t rate the time it takes to answer.

As bikini-clad babes do the not-so-chic sheik-shimmy in the background, Karim and Maria Alejandra spar in their own sort of sexually-tinged kabuki dance as she tries to make him see she’s not interested in playing hard to get or making an impression on him for avaricious purposes.  (Dude, do you really think some truly foxy lady is going to be impressed with the be-gauzed babes shaking booty by a couple of palm trees?  Major eye-roll material, man.)  She really doesn’t want to make him one of her conquests like he seems to think, she insists.  And, believe it or not, she’s really not interested in him at all.  Karim is bummed and muy baffled by her attitude.  He tries to convince her that he’s worldly-wise about women and they always aspire to something.  He can give her anything her heart desires.  She tries to explain that what she’s interested in cannot be bought with cold hard cash and thus is totally out of his material sway.  No, it would take an evil soul.  He’s willing to consider it.

Over on the poor man’s side of the beach where chairs—and apparently beach towels—are at a premium, Eddy and Aracely are keeping each other company.  He tells her he’s in love with her.  He’s thinking of taking her to the big city, the D.F. to be specific, to spend some time there together showing her the sights.  Oh, she says, the two of us…alone?  “—Well sure.  Don’t you want to?”  She innocently says she already knows all about M.C.  cuz she used to live there.  But sure, she’d like to see it again, once they’re married.  Eddy smiles cuz he sort of had “other” plans.

Caro tells Raiza she’s heard La Mendoza’s sordid life-story from Ale and isn’t worried about her.  Then she mentions she offered to buy the casino from him but he’d rather sell to somebody else.  Raiza’s worried that she might not take care of her but Caro assures her little sister she’d never do that to her.

Ary mentions telling Teo about dating.  Eddy wilts.  He’s like her older brother and she wants to pay him that kind of respect.  It shouldn’t matter if Eddy’s intentions are good towards her.  He’d do it for her, or should.  Eddy says no way.  His intentions are good, but it’s crazy to ask him to do that with a guy who isn’t anything to her and that she barely knows.  He wouldn’t listen to him anyway, the crabby jerk!  He’d run him off before he got the first word out of his mouth!  “--I’d rather we keep our going out a secret.  Besides, the best love is one that’s allowed to blossom and the best tasting kiss is one that’s stolen.  Like this one…” He kisses her.  She melts (not to mention half of Viewerville right along with her) and he smiles, cocksure of himself.  He kisses her again.  I reach for my glass of ice cubes…..

We beam back to MC riding back in the limo with Teo and thinking to herself that she’s got Harem Kar’m as tamed and meek as any lamb to the slaughter and she can wrap him around her little finger and do whatever she’s got a mind to.  She’ll take her vengeance out on him for what Octavio did to her if for no reason than Karim’s done his share of arrogant, chauvinistic womanizing.  At least he’s being up front about his intentions.  The one who really deserves punishment is Octavio!

And, speaking of the pauper of princely looking putzes these days, who should be waiting for MariAle with a lovelorn and totally bored expression on his face as she walks past the reception desk.  “—Did you enjoy yourself much?”  She turns on her 6” stilettos and looks down her nose towards him.  “—Of course.”  “—Well, here I’ve been bored out of my gourd all afternoon.”  She sneers unsympathetically.  “—What a shame.”  “—Don’t believe me, do you?”  (Gawd, this is too sad for words.  Tav, you really are a mess!)“—Actually I could care.”  She starts to leave and he races after her. “—Will you get out of my way?”  “—Look, I’d just like to talk to you.”  “—But I don’t want to talk to you.”  “--What is your problem?  Why do you have to be such a snob towards me?”  “—And why are you so stiflingly clingy?  As far as I know I’ve never been rude to you?”  “—That’s a 10-4! That’s all I need, oh my.”  “—So drop [deponer] the attitude.  I want to be friends with you!”  MA gives him the shifty eye.

Teo gets back to his apartment.  He guesses that Ary spent the afternoon with El Piloto Ese and they argue about it.  He’s no good, he repeats.  She insists he’s sincere and will come to tell him so formally.  Doesn’t matter cuz he’ll never listen and doesn’t want to hear a word he has to say.  He’ll never accept the guy.  They agree to disagree.

MA now asks Tav why such an interest in their being friends.  He tells her he told her before that she reminds him of somebody he knew--his use of past tense here not going unnoticed by her or Viewerville.  “—Her name was Maricruz.”  “--Yes, and I’ve told you before I don’t know this Maricruz, and I am not interested in your friendship!  Don’t be an idiot.  Your using such an excuse is so childish.  It doesn’t work on me.”  “—What do you mean?”  “--That I don’t believe you know somebody named Maricruz.  It’s just a pick-up line, to strike up a conversation [entablar conversación] with some unsuspecting female.  You don’t fool me.  I’m experienced in these things, enough so that I’ve just come back from a high time on his dime with an Arab head of state [emir].  Sad Sack de Tav looks back at her with a red-eyed, hang-dog expression.  “—Aside from that you make fools of men.”  She chuckles with a supercilious air and waltzes past him.  “—Not as much at men make fools of women.”

The next day, Karim is on the phone with Caro asking about La Srita. Mendoza.  He tells Caro he want’s her and he’ll pay her a veritable fortune to have her!  Cara de hot-digity- damn de Caro!  (Here’s your chance to put you money where your big mouth is, Babe.)  MA walks towards the table on the patio where Eddy and Ary are smooching.  She re-introduces herself to Aricely.  Ary tries introducing Eddy to MariAle as her boyfriend. He nervously clarifies for MA.   “—Er…not officially.  We’re barely just beginning our relationship.”  Cara de waddya-mean-not-officially? de Ary.  That’s all Mari needs to hear.  “—Ah, so you’re the friend of that other pilot, right?”  Uh, yeah. She looks over at Ary.  “—Then he’s certain to be just as much of a cad as his buddy.  You’re best off going back home to Teo’s.”

Caro has to admit to Karim that she’s really got no control over Srita. Mendoza.  “—You don’t pay her salary?”  “--No, she’s my business partner’s protégée.”  He demands to have his name and a way to contact him, ASAP.

Eddy tells MA that Ary’s with him and has no reason to pay attention to anything she tells her.  MA ignores him and tells Ary she really is disappointing Teo who only wants what’s best for her.  Should she have Teo come and look for her?  “—No, please don’t tell him.”   “--Pilots have a girl in every port.  This guy is only trying to take advantage of you.”    Eddy stands up and tells her he resents being attacked this way.  He then insists he’s in love with Ary and his intentions are pure as the wind-driven snow.  “--Oh really?  Then let’s all go this very instant and tell Teobaldo that you’re in love with her and you want to get married.”  Cara de dagger-shooting eyes de Eduardo.

Back in her office, Caro thinks to herself that El Shiek of the Burning Sands is really in love with the minx (fulana= uptown whore with airs].  “—If she had an ounce of sense [pizca] she’d jump at the chance to become rich as Croesus overnight.  It’s a chance of a lifetime and probably her only one.  Well, as long as he’s willing, I’m going to make the most of it! ”

Eddy finally tells Mari to hold her horses.  There’s no rush, and besides, she’s not her responsibility [compete].   Mari tells him Ary isn’t about to be toyed with and then thrown away like a used Kleenex the way most men do with naïve young girls.  He insists he’s sincere.  She insists they go tell Teo then.  He says sorry, no can do cuz he and his buddy’s got to leave for the airport for their next flight shortly.  “—Ok then, Ary.  Get going.  It’s obvious this man only wants to use you for a good time.  Go on.  What I’m telling you is for your own good; I want you to avoid the pain other girls like you have suffered.” Ary must figure a worldly woman like La Srita Mendoza knows a thing or two.  She ponders it for a few more seconds more and high tails it for Teo’s place—much to Eddy’s sh!t-eatin’ chagrin.  Maricruz then walks back to her suite and thinks she’ll save Ary from the jaws of that carnivorous cad if it’s the last thing she does.

Once inside her suite she plunks down onto the couch after a hard day of (we assume) having to entertain and suffer through various gambling fools gladly in the casino.  She takes off her heels and rubs her aching feet.  All of a sudden Karim appears at the top of her balcony stairs.  He begins slowly walking down them towards her.

Thanks for the great detail Jardinera. I didn't watch Part 1 and with storms last night, Uni kept freezing, so I appreciate all the dirty details of what happened.
Seems like not much, just more maneuvering, but I still want to rewatch to her Papa's chuckle and MC's handling of the Emir. More she resists, more that puppy dog is going to follow.
Looking forward to your Part 2!!

Daisynjay

Thanks for the first half of the recap. Prince Alarming. That is so clever, I wish I would have thought of that.

Octavio's defense:

Please see the link below.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/1520138/Family-in-five-week-vigil-for-wrong-girl-as-their-daughter-lay-dead-in-her-grave.html

There is a famous case of two blonde chicks that had been in a car accident together. One chick died and the other chick survived. When the survivor woke up everyone discovered that the wrong family had buried the wrong girl.

Cynderella

Jardinera- Haven't read this yet, but I see that it's not tagged/labeled, nor is CI in the title, so it will be hard for some folks to find.

Looking forward to Part 2 too. But I want to add to yesterday discussion, that the first option for Emir was Julian Jil. But he was too busy, so producer choose an other actor.
Alegria

Jardinera- Great part one! I missed the first part, so now I'm up to speed about what happened.

Can't believe Ale told Carola the whole truth about MariAle's background. It didn't seem to change the way she treated her, but I wouldn't want Raiza to know this info-- it will make her feel superior to MariAle.

Jardinera...you must be a professional writer? Each sentence so prescient! Really, such good writing. Thank you.

I'm finding it impossible to believe Octavio really hasn't been able to figure out that MC is MC. They were fairly intimate at one time or another, yes?

I couldn't understand all the deal-making so looking forward to part 2.

Dona Felipa

Thanks Jardinera! I haven't been able to watch last night episode, so your detailed recap is highly appreciated.

I agree with Vivi, I can't beleive DonAle told Caro the whole truth, he'll must've told her some fabricated sob story or half truth to protect the interests of MC so she'll find out the whole truth behind the bookkeeping.

Can't wait for part2

We're really going into the realm of fantasy here with Octavio's failure to recognize Maricruz. I'd rather see her do a Pygmalion job on Karim than go back to Octavio at the end of the story.

Great work, Jardinera.

Oh boy..this episode was perfect for your irreverent, in-your-face-style. You and Maricruz are soul sisters, that's for sure. Just a few of the things I loved:

Papijandro

Word up, Prince Alarming

[Teobaldo] He becomes her one raincloud

Ary is apparently not Mensa material

unwilling to be bought and bridled at any price

Just great so far Jardinera. Loved the episode and loved the recap.

Hi ya, gang! It's all there now.
===========

ViviDC: Ruh-roh! Sorry, I blew it. LOL!! But I now have taken care of those details, amiga. Thanks!

Oh my...part 2 just as smokin' hot as part 1. Favorite lines:

flattered and flummoxed

sheik-shimmy

the pauper of princely looking putzes

high time on his dime

carnivorous cad

You're a demon with a typewriter, Jardinera. So much fun to read. Thanks.

Jardinera:

Thanks for the great recap. I am liking La Mendoza and her wheeling dealing.

I like how La Mendoza is handling the Emir. I especially liked how she threw his ring on the floor. Good for her.

I also liked how MA told Aracely exactly what Ed is all about. I don't want Ed to bamboozle Aracely. If Ed truly loved Aracely he would have gone with Aracely to see Teo. Why is Ed so reluctant to meet Teo, hmmmm....

I really liked Don Ale this epi too. Carola thinks she has it over on Don Ale, little does she know!

Awesome recap!
I'm a little bit worried about MA. She is so set on revenge and not being taken adv of again, that she is pissing off everyone around her, except Teo. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite. She needs to be smart, keep your friends close and enemies closer!

Does anyone else find it funny that Teo is all over Araceli about not falling in love, etc. but he acts like a puppy that is seeing its first bone every time MA comes around?

Poor Octavio! I'm really starting to feel sorry for the poor schmuck. He is so clueless in every facet of his life, no idea abt what happened to MC at the ranch, his bro stealing his money, now the whole MA/MC confusion... He is practically roadkill and MA hasn't even started to take revenge on him yet.

Fabulous recap, Jardinera.

I have to remember not to read your recaps while at work though. I was laughing so hard one of my co-workers came into my office to find out what was so funny.

Great Jar, tk you

How long has Teo known Aracely & he's trying to run her life?? And now MC/MA is doing the same thing, who does she think she is anyway?? And Aracely stands for it??

Good grief, once Oblivio makes up his mind, he's filled with indecision.

I'm puzzled about the casino. Ships go out to sea but we haven't heard about this Cunard Line ship leaving port. It's a big ship, what's up with that or should I just get my beanie?

The Emir gives MA his ring? At least go out and buy her one that might fit. Give this thing a little thought, !por Dios!.

Thank you Jardinera654---You did such a great job, thorough and funny as well.
Dude, do you really think that some truly foxy lady is going to be impressed with some begauzed babes shaking booty by a couple of palm trees---Jardinera, this is a roll on the floor laughter comment

She melts and he smiles, cocksure of himself. another great one Jardinera but I couldn't help thinking that he was cocksure of himself that is until Marycruz got through with him. I loved it--ice
water on a hot beach. Maricruz is just getting warmed up. I can't wait to see what she has planned for the future.

Great maneuvering last night like pieces on a chess board. Maricruz is comming on strong but will the game be over when her pregency becomes evident?

Carvivlie---He is practically road-
kill and MA hasn't even started to take avenge on him yet. LOL

And I would like to add, Oblivio doesn't even know what he's in for.
He'll be down on his knees before Maricruz gets through with him.

As A male I would like to stand up for the men but how can I? Oblivio
really asked for what he is going to get---GO MARI!!!
Edwardo needs to get kicked to the curb also. Cocksure? He won't be after Mari gets finished with him.
the gringo

Carvivlie said: "I'm a little bit worried about MA. She is so set on revenge and not being taken adv of again, that she is pissing off everyone around her, except Teo. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite."
Remember, MA has said that she has all the passion of her former self, namely Maricruz. And remember MC's poor, poor judgement. Not only did she allow herself to be taken in by Octavio, she actually has taken up a rifle and pulled the trigger. MC has the ability to go off and over the top. In her state of revenge who knows what poor judgments she can continue to make. She not quite the lady yet. MA can snap back into MC quickly.

Don't know how you do it, but you blasted Part 2 out of the ball park too. Thanks goodness I am reading this away from the office on lunch break because at least the weird looks from people aren't from co-workers. Right now, I'm just another weird person sitting in the library gardens laughing to myself.

Mari;s dressing down of Eddy had be cringing. I mean, the girl was not puling any punches. Now, I'm still not 100% sure said former stud she reduced so aptly isn't attracted to Are, but as for his intentions...well maybe this will make him either give her up or have to get his act together and deserve her.

Poor Tav. All we get now is scene after scene of him looking like a lost little boy who noone want to play with. The man needs a hobby or something to make him look manly again--maybe he should go back to the ranch and deal with the happenings there. Go punch his brother or club EWWWWSSSS for us.

Hello writers....can we get a Solita update???

Hey, gang! I'm without my personal computer and unable to do much commenting, but I am glad you got a few good chuckles out of it all. I have got to say that watching Tav take fire from the new and improved MC is hard. He's no longer the big fish in the small pond back in the boonies of T-whatchamacallit. He's a poor, mixed up mess small pile of pilot poop in an ocean of wealthy men, and he's got a guilty conscience the size of all of Latin America. He refuses to admit he's in love with that little ignorant cretin he deserted and emotionally abandoned back home. Yep, it is really painful to watch Maricruz turn him into mincemeat. Oh, one of my passwords here was Huge-nius --something Tav is not!

Jardinera, of course this recap is brilliantly funny. Good job.

I think I liked Maricruz better than I like Maria Alejandra. She's suddenly the high-heeled avenger not only looking for revenge but picking fights with young men in general. Her instincts are dead on about the emir but why even bother with him? I also think she's right about Eddy's intentions but it's really none of her business.

Variopinta, I have the very same concerns that you expressed and I loved this:

"Good grief, once Oblivio makes up his mind, he's filled with indecision."

Carlos

Variopinta- I was wondering about that boat and maybe it has to do with the legalities of gambling. I looked this up and it seems gambling, except sports betting and slots in some special cases, is illegal in Mexico. Maybe the boat thing is just to make the idea of a casino plausible. Or maybe it's just that someone had some shots of a big fancy boat and wanted to use them, and we shouldn't question. Questioning stuff just gets us in trouble.

Kelly

A great recap, Jardinera! MaryAle is really hard core with the young men. It could take a toll on her to keep going with this power trip, but maybe she's enjoying it.

Aww, poor Oblivio! He did flash some puppy-dog eyes, but they were the eyes of a whipped and punished puppy.

Jardinera, Thank you for a lovely recap. I missed all but a few minutes, and appreciate both the nuts and bolts and the wicked mode of expression.

Around the world the intricacies of gambling laws have resulted in a range of floating casinos not subject to the regular laws on land. Its a not uncommon stop on the way to the wrecking yard for older ships. Some must venture out a few miles before turning back, others can stay docked. Many US "riverboat" casinos are as much real "boats" as the Disney jungle ride or don't even move at all. No idea about specific Mexican law.

Even though our main folks seem to be living in a hotel on shore, doesn't it seem that that the Fox is making the rounds of on-board cabins?

MA's thirst for vengeance is far less attractive than is Ana Brenda herself. I hope we aren't treated to months of uninterrupted vendetta. For plot reasons, however, I fear that reconciliation with Octavio will be long delayed and likely short-lived before any sort of lasting rapprochement.

CinF

The gambling ships in FL have to go 3 miles out before starting to gamble.
That is International waters, so it might be a nationwide law.

That is a Cunard ship in CI, so it has to sail to make money.
A friend of mine got a job as an extra in the movie Jack & Jill, filmed in part on the Allure, world's largest cruise ship. She spent 12 days sailing nowhere. But it was quite an experience.
