CI: #54: Doris vs. Maria Alejandra (aka Superwoman): Let the Games Begin!

Short
5 sentences: MA loves to thought speech about her supposed revenge. She has made a new enemy (Doris, who is determined to marry Tav) and has shut down the not so smooth advances from the Governor. Miguel is beginning to like the bottle way too much but seems much more in tune with the similarities between MC/MA than Tav/Ed. The hotties always talk about the same thing. Luciafer wants to be with Miguel and crazy Karim plans to kidnap MA!

The Long
We begin with MA reciting her vengeful thought speech for the hundredth time. She finds it odd that Miguel is on the Isla. But who cares…. she’s glad that he is now in her hands and she can begin her revenge for all the harm they did to her (She has been talking about this for like 30 episodes…. whatever this great plan is, it better be as good as she is hyping it up to be).

Tav & Co. on the other hand are handling the very tipsy Miguel. He swears that MC and MA are identical  (you don’t say…maybe alcohol makes him smarter) but the boys tell him no and try to get him to go back home. Ed being the best wingman ever says that he will take care of Tav’s drunkard bro while he returns to his date with Doris. Ed adds, that when Tav becomes her novio there will all sorts of perks that Tav will be able to return the favor.

Doris, her dad and her bro (Andres) are having a heart to heart. Doris is already channeling crazy. She wants her father to find a position for her “novio” when they get married. The dad wisely asks why she is proposing the marriage. Crazy says no one can turn his daughter down (duh!). Bro doesn’t approve (I’m with you…. with the functioning brain cells of Doris and Tav, I would worry about their future kids. She lacks the “I can do and know all (matrix style)” genes that MA seems to have an abundance of”). When the siblings arrive at the casino, the bro notices that MA is staring at Doris. Doris confronts MA and asks her where Tav is (catfight!!). MA tells her that Tav had to leave and attend to his brother and she doesn’t know if he will return. Doris insists that he will (and rolled that Rrrrr for extra emphasis!) because they both are going to have some fun tonight!  Doris’s brother tries to get her to leave but Doris wants a confrontation. MA inquires whether Doris is sure of Tav’s intentions because if she is she does not know him well. Doris gets loud and MA tells her not to worry she doesn’t want to know Tav anyway. Doris goes on and on about Tav qualities (besides being handsome, she didn’t mention much else…. which is a very accurate description at this point). MA hopes that he doesn’t break her heart. Overconfident Doris believes no man can do that to her because of who she is (young and beautiful)! MA gets the last word in saying that Tav does not have a heart and sassily walks away leaving Doris fuming. Doris wants to make a scene but her brother prevents her. She does not care about her father’s political life and how a scandal will affect his career. It is all about her y punto!

Ed and Miguel are continuing their festivities at the hotel. Miguel thinks Raiza is puurty and wants to go back to the casino. He now understands Tav and the reasons he left the ranch to know the world and have fun. Miguel wants more tequila shots but Ed tells him enough is enough and tries to get him to retire for the night. (I have a feeling we will be seeing Miguel and “the bottle” becoming very close friends these next few chapters).

The governor has showed up making sure his daughter fulfilled his promise of leaving the casino. Doris insists on staying until the great Tav arrives and just when a scene is about to be made, MA steps in. She graciously greets the governor and thanks him for the orchids he sent which gets a glaring look from both siblings. MA continues to schmooze with the governor and tries to get him to accompany her elsewhere. Doris is not having it and they continue to throw insults (well really just Doris) at each other until Tav arrives. He is shocked to see MA present (that or he is admiring how beautiful she looks in that black and white number minus the hairstyle). Predictably MA and Tav lamely try to make each other jealous with their partners as they make their exit.

Doris notices that Tav seems worried. She too is frustrated because of MA and her dad. She thinks that MA has something against all men, which Tav agrees to. For that reason, he does not think her father should be entering the casino or courting MA.  Doris is happy that Tav is thinking of her father has an in-law and she confesses that she cares about him. Tav tries a lame tactic of pushing her off, saying he is just a pilot. Doris is not worried because her dad has enough money for the three of them! Plus, she has power over her dad and whatever she asks she can usually get. She goes in for a lackluster kiss (accompanied by cheesy, sleazy instrumental --- is that supposed to be seductive??) which gets an unpleasant grimace from her brother.

Ed does not favor being a wingman and is mad that his night was ruined. He begins to undress and just when I thought he would break the lack of skinship on this show camera’s changed scenes.  Later that night, Tav comes back and Ed informs him that it was a lot of work to get Miguel to “call it a night”. He was high strung and drunk. Ed thinks that he needs to have heart to heart with his bro to chill him out a little. Tav tells him that his night went better than expected. Doris can be really pleasant when she wants to be. He is not in love but he cant help but notice that Doris is not only pretty but also very passionate (Tav does like his passionate girls, MC—was passionate about all things Tav and life, MA is passionate about planning this so called vengeance and Doris is just plain passionately crazy!). Tav tells Ed that Doris wants him to get to know her father. Ed rightfully thinks that Doris is looking for marriage but Tav does not believe she is in such a hurry to do so (Tav, how did you make it this far in life with your horrible perception of other people’s character). He doesn’t think that their relationship can be taking seriously because of their different backgrounds. He is just using her as a distraction for now. Surprisingly, he also happens to remember that he is MARRIED!  He also drops the bomb that MC was pregnant.  Tav is wonders where they could be or what they are doing when he is sure they have little money and lots of ignorance. He also has Miguel’s situation to worry about and he ask Ed for advice. Ed tells Tav that Miguel should stay on the island and work. Ed is over this conversation, its too late to try and solve all these problems…lets leave it for tomorrow.

At the Casino, MA is probably ruining any chance of the father approving of Doris and Tav’s relationship. She does not think that the governor should allow his daughter to get serious with Tav. She believes he is an opportunist and anything but a gentleman. The governor is going to investigate our incompetent pilot friend further. But he is not too worried since Andres accompanied his daughter. The governor is glad that MA has warned him but he wants to talk about more important matters (Its funny that every time he inches closer she tries to scoot away). He tells her that he was interested in her when he first saw her. Unfortunately, he cannot frequent the casino due to his position so he would like to know if she would welcome him in her home. She tells him that she lives a very private life and does not welcome guests. Regardless, she stresses that she appreciates his FRIENDSHIP, but she has to decline his request. He channels sleazy and tells her they can meet somewhere else that is just as nice and intimate. MA gets offended and informs him that she is a Senora in every sense of the word! She walks away hastily to attend to other guests (and I just hope she doesn’t have to add him to her ever growing list of enemies or crazy admirers).  MA finds a quiet place so she can think out loud. She thinks the governor should spend his time on his daughter because Tav is already her husband and father of  Lupita. A second later she takes those true feelings back, and thinks that Tav is not even hers but someone she wants to seek vengeance on and nothing more!

Doris comes back home in a hissy fit because her father has not returned. She is appalled to think that her father can be interested in MA. Andres is not as worried as Doris. He does not think that his father could marry someone like MA due to the image he has to uphold as a politician. Doris threatens that if her dad marries MA and she marries Tav they will be living apart. Andres gets hurt saying he will be left behind, but Doris says no way! He will always be able to accompany her  (Seriously…what kind of relationship do these two have…it’s a little weird that he is so attached…. or maybe I am just cold hearted).

Next Day

OMG….its advanced technology (in a TN nonetheless)!!! MA seems to be skyping/facetime Tobias.  Solita is just as shocked as I am. Tobias translates and says that when problems die down on the island, Solita, MC, and the babies will all live together.  Even better, now that there is enough money MA will try and find the best specialists to see if there is a cure for Solita’s hearing problem.

Ed and Tav talk about their favorite hobby, MA. Ed does not find it surprising that Miguel was just as shocked as they were when they met MC/MA. They both look very similar. Ed is more worried about what Raiza overhead and how she may relay that info to Carola. This ignites some sparks in Tav, underused brain. He now finds the tone and mannerisms of MA suspicious when she first encountered Miguel.  Ed to my disappointment (I thought he would put 2+2 together when he heard of the pregnancy) is glad that Tav realizes that MC and MA cant be the same person. Tav confesses that he wishes that they were because at least he knows that MC no longer needs him.  Ed advises that Tav just get close to Doris and his life would be sooo much better.

Miguel walks in with a hangover. Tav thinks that Miguel should stop drinking because its not going to bring him anything good. Furthermore, he was talking way too much last night and because of that he should not return to the casino. He wants to know about the woman he met at the casino…the one that looks like MC. Tav gets enthused when Miguel says everything about her looks, her voice and eyes seemed like MC.  Ed doesn’t want Miguel to give Tav any ideas. Tav doesn’t think the two are the same, besides MA has money, education and much class. Plus, MC came to the city with barely any money….how can she be MA! The much smarter but no spine brother says maybe so but anyone would have thought they were the same. He even remember they one party they had where MC was all dressed up. Nope! No way…cant be the same person. I don’t want to recall anything y basta!

Tamilupas
Santa and JA have a chat. He informs her of Miguel’s disappearance and of his new job and salary. JA dreamily expresses that if MC comes back he can offer her marriage. Santa seems to agree that MC will not someone who would care for her as much as JA.

Lucia cries as she reads her letter to Miguel. She writes that she misses him and this all her fault. She asks for forgiveness but all that she does was for her “grand love” for him. She is determined to make sure everything he worked for at the ranch will be in good hands. In the end, Lucia doesn’t think she can handle the loneliness. She needs to see Miguel! She needs to go where he is (Oh no no no no! I do NOT want a cast reunion in La Isla! I don’t like the casino…it’s becoming so claustrophobic…. please writers, not that you ever listened before, but surprise me for once. If you are not going to give me a good plot, at least give me something pretty to look at).

Al Fin
MA receives an invitation to Emir Karim’s birthday party. She is determined to go because she wants to become more powerful and be envied by all. All for this so called vengeance of hers! Doris and her father also get the invitation and she wants to invite Tav. Her father is not in agreement and has his reservations about him (no thanks to MA).  Doris doesn’t care about money or position and she is not in the least interested about Tav’s past. But the governor wants to know what will happen if he is/has been married. Doris says even if that is so, he can get divorced. She also warns him that if he intends to choose a stepmother, he better choose well…and not any woman from the casino. He tells her not to worry that he is not stupid. And as long as she is single, she will be the only woman in his life (Bleh)

Karim and his right hand man are planning something sinister on the same day of his party. Of course he tries to warn Karim that his actions are dangerous and could get him in trouble with the law. Karim does not care. Everything will go well.

Comments:
Afternoon everyone!!

Recap is up so enjoy. As always if there are any mistakes or I missed something feel free to address them in the comments and I can also fix any errors.

Looking back, I do not now how I wrote so much for an uneventful episode.

Sorry in advance for any grammatical errors(I get very lazy when it comes to revisions).

"Doris is not only pretty but also very passionate (Tav does like his passionate girls, MC—was passionate about all things Tav and life, MA is passionate about planning this so called vengeance and Doris is just plain passionately crazy!)"

Now there's a nice analysis of our current love triangle, CeCe. Well done.

Liked both the short and long version of our story last night. We're seeing some sort of strange reversal with Lucia seeming to really love and miss Miguel instead of just being a cold-hearted manipulative witch.
Not sure what this portends.

The whole family vibe with the governor is creepy. Both brother and dad seem a little too smitten with the lovely but shallow Doris. Yikes. No wonder Mom took an early exit for heaven.

As for Miguel, they say that heavy drinking is an effort to escape somebody's control and certainly his life with Lucia fit that pattern. Wonder where he's headed?

Well, lots of time and many many episodes in which to find out.

Thanks CeCe. Nicely done.

Gracias CeCe

You would think that with both halves of the entire Navarez brain cell on the scene, they could figure sth out.

I'll be happy to see Luciafer on the casino scene, then maybe MC/MA can start her maldito vengeance & stop talking about it. A group homicide would be fine with me with suicide immediately after.

Thanks for the recap, CeCe. I love the snark. Octavio's good looks really are the only things going for him so far ;)

As far as the Gobernador goes, I thought he was a gentleman until he so creepily insisted in going to MC’s place. Yuck. She sure told him off. Even more suggestive is the relationship between Doris and Andres. I’ll be damned if there aint something going on between the two of them. Has incest ever been explored on TN s? Aside from the cliché “we’re half siblings! We can’t be together!” plotline of course.

I had to laugh at MC in her classy white/black lace ensemble, while Doris and Raiza looked like they were going to a tacky high school prom. It seems inevitable that Miguel is going to get drunk one night and sleep with Raiza, especially if Tav and Ed aren’t there to keep him under control. Otherwise, what purpose does Raiza serve here?

OBLIVIO OBLIVIO OBLIVIOOOO! He has the certainty that MariAle isn’t MC? Ugh. Eduardo is so much fun though. I loved his “Miguel drowned in alcohol and you drowned in Doris’s arms” line. Why he sleeps with a shirt on is an eternal mystery to me.

The video chat scene was so sweet. I’m glad MC has finally started thinking about Solita. With that and her adorable scenes with Lupita, I’m liking her more and more. I honestly think we need to cut her some slack with the whole revenge theme. She'll turn into a sweet protagonista eventually, and I still haven't gotten tired of her evening gowns :)

Thank you for the recap!

Poor Ed, so good looking but so few brain cells! Obviously the excessive use of hair gel has affected his ability to reason. How could he not realize MA is MC once hearing ant MCs pregnancy?

MA keeps talking abt revenge but he seems to have absolutely no plan. Getting tired of no real progress. Sleeping with a drunk Miguel would hurt both Tav and Lucia and thus Miguel later.

Gracias, CeCe. You filled in the blanks for me beautifully. I could only catch snippets here and there while trying to whip up supper.

Frankly, didn't seem like I missed too much--lot of conversations.Saw the SKYPE with Tobias--love how he has learned to sign so well and Solita seems blooming. ( If only the pig tails could get deep-sixed. Not sure why, but they bug me. Wait until the little one can start yanking those.) Wish we had more of her and Tobias....anything that can put a smile on our face once in awhile.

"... MA reciting her vengeful thought speech for the hundredth time." Lord, I'm so sick of these! Lazy writers.

I agree with Judy-this governor clan is dysfunctional. Daughter is delusional, the father is a secret lech and the son seems to just not care ( apparently the only smart member). So more characters we just don't care about.

I am slightly thrown too with this new and improved Lucia. Something is rotten in Denmark with this change. Is this just a setup to make her miss Miguel so much we get her also casino bound. Maybe she's schizophrenic and we are seeing the "good Lucia". Just odd...

So let's see what Krazy Karim is up to next week. At least it might stop another MC revenge tirade for awhile.

Daisynjay

Technology? Are they too good for telegrams? Stop.

Since they mentioned treatment for Solita, I assume they'll do it and it'll work. Good for her, but she might want to wait until the baby is older. Might as well get some sleep if you can.

Kelly

Great job CeCe!

Last night is seemed like the writers were listening to (some of) our complaints. MC finally made some time for Lupita and Solita, AND used technology!! I was floored.

I have given up on any of these guys making any kind of logical connections about MA/MC. I'm starting to think that even if they saw MA with Solita, and a monkey on her shoulder, they would STILL second guess if MA and MC are the same woman.

ITA with you about the creepy vibes between Doris and her brother and father, and I usually am not as bugged by the close relationships these tns show between siblings and parents and children as other folks are.

Thank You CeCe!

I think we could count all functional brain cells of ALL galans put together in this TN on one hand.

What would it take to recognize MA = MC ??

Actually I'd welcome a Miguel drop Luciafer for Raiza plot, she (Raiza) semms to be getting more likeable character.

Balie Marie-

As for incest between REAL siblings in tns, the only time I've seen anything close was in Sortilegio. Raquel (Chantal Andere) had the hots for her younger half brother Alex (William Levy). That was pretty gross. But she was also a BSC alcoholic.

JudyB: glad u enjoyed the analysis of our hopeless galan. It's good to know that I am not the only one who senses a weird creepy vibe from Doris her brother and her dad.

Variopinta: You are right. Even though I am getting tired of the casino scenes (love the evening dresses of MA though) adding Luciafer on the Island would hopefully put a stop to all this thought speech on revenge and more into action!

Bailey Marie: I too like Ed. Even though he can be such a jerk and gives awful advice, he still makes more sense than Oblivio. That and he is just fun to watch!

Carvivlie: For a second I really did think I saw some wheels churning up in Ed's brain but i was wrong. Maybe his memory will be jogged later on. However he is so insistent in Tav forgetting about MC 3.0/MA/MC that I can see him not telling him this important info.

Daisynjay: "So let's see what Krazy Karim is up to next week. At least it might stop another MC revenge tirade for awhile"....LOL good one! But then we may just have her go on a tirade on how Karim will have to pay for all his evil deeds too!

I too was also a little shocked at Lucia showing a heart. I didnt think she could miss a person so much. She even shocked me with her enthusiasm to work hard. get her hands a little dirty just so that things will be in order when Miguel gets back.

Vivi:

"I'm starting to think that even if they saw MA with Solita, and a monkey on her shoulder, they would STILL second guess if MA and MC are the same woman"
ROTFL....seriously I would not put it past those three.

I too do not mind the close relationships shown in Tns (minus the super overbearing mothers) but the brother raises red flags with all his jealousy and clinginess to his sister.

I'm starting to think that the editing has something to do with the weird vibe bet Doris and Andres. He was giving these "significant" looks throughout the episode. I felt like I was missing what the significance was so I can't help but feel some of it is on the cutting room floor.

Thank you CeCe---I loved your recap, you made the episode into a nice read.
You're a winner with lines like---Doris goes on about Tav's qualities
[besides being handsome, she didn't mention much else....which is a very accurate description at this point.]

And---He is not in love but he can't help but notice that Doris is not only pretty but also very passionate [Tav does like passionate girls, MC---was passionate about all things Tav and life. MC is passionate about planning this so called vengeance and Doris is just plain passonately
crazy.]

CeCe, your last masterpiece for me was---And I just hope that she doesn't have to add him to her ever growing list of enemies or crazy admires. LOL

Talking about Doris, she,s a little firecracker, a scrapper for sure. She gets so mad at MC, she looks like she's going to explode.
A cat fight seems to be looming.

Lack of modern day technology? Well
that's a complaint no more, we now have skype. Maricruz is a modern day woman, Tav, modern day? Not so much. Well, he can fly an airplane
[give him a little credit] even if it is only three seats wide.

Lucifer at the casino? Oh, that will be good. Let the games begin.
Maybe she will catch Miguel wrapped around Raiza. These guys might destroy themselves without Mari's help.

Baily Marie---I'm shocked.
I'm liking her more and more. I honestly think we need to cut her some slack with the whole revenge theme. She'll turn into a sweet protagonista eventually. It was just a day or two ago that you wanted to subject her to the phyiscal and psychological horror of a kidnapping by someone who is turning out to be an obsessed psycho.

OK! My turn. Up until now pretty much every recap, there has been an almost constant line of criticism against Maricruz,
Oblivio, the writers and just about everything and everybody else connected to Corazon Indomable. As you all know, I have been this novela's biggest fan, but I have a secret---it's the casino. I have to laugh everytime I see it. I mean there is 1 poker table, 1 craps table and 1 roulette
wheel. This is a casino? Ok, Ok, I know that Televisa has a budget and
also that we have imaginations and are supposed to use them But evertime I see that casino, I can't help but think of the Mirage,
Mandalay Bay, Ceasars palace, the MGM Grand---you know, Las Vegas. Oh
well, Maricruz starts out small I guess, she will grow the business.
the gringo

Gringo- The business is plenty big enough. She has a ton of other casinos that she inherited from Don Ale...that she is IGNORING.

CeCe thanks for your hilarious recap. Add me to the list of those who think there is a creepy dysfunctional family dynamic with the Governor family. Perhaps Carvivlie is right and its an editing problem but even then its still icky!

I know its a TN convention that everyone loves the male and female protagonists and this seems to be another aspect of this TN the writers (again) didn't update. That being said, the Governor lost his mind last night; he became sleazy so fast, ewwwww.

MA needs to start implementing her revenge on the Oblivious one now. Revealing his marriage stops any fantasies he has with Doris and pushes Doris to a new level of crazy. I know we have stupid Karim planning a kidnapping but I think Doris is a woman who could be tempted to do the same.

I do think Lucia's change of heart is to demonstrate her bi-polar tendencies and perhaps gets her back on being jealous again. The thing is I kinda like Raiza and don't want her to have to put up with Lucrazy; if this were Carola, I'd say bring it on!!

Vivi---You're right. I keep forgetting about the other casinos,
they never show them.
the gringo

CeCe thank you for your entertaining recap.

I loved how MC maintained her composure with the governor as Doris increasingly lost control in her attack on MC. MC just killed her with kindness.

The big question: Who is crazier. Lucía or Doris? I never would have thought that another character would be giving crazy Lucía a run for her money for the "craziest of all" title.

Jarifa

@Gringo - Lol about your casino comment. But like you said, there's a budget- TNs are not big budget productions like movies or even nighttime soaps. They are more along the lines of U.S. daytime soaps, and in my view TN sets compare quite favorably against sets on daytime soaps - don't know if there are any left on air, but I watched quite a few of daytime soaps when I was younger, and if you think the casino on C.I. is laughable, you should have seen what passed for hospitals, bars, mansions, etc. on daytime soaps - you would be rolling on the floor with laughter. (Also, I've been to casinos in the Midwest and on a couple of Indian reservations, so I know not all casinos are on a par with Las Vegas.) Re: the size of the casino on C.I., I don't know if anyone noticed that MariAle told the governor that she had to make the rounds of the casino's other salons, so we are supposed to imagine in our heads that the casino is comprised of a lot more playing areas than what we get to see on-screen.

CeCe and Adriana Noel, thanks for the Turs. and Fri. recaps. Love being able to keep up somewhat while I'm on the road.
My brother had his tv on PBS and there was a Rick Steves travel show on Baden-Baden. It included a nice segment on the casino and I couldn't help compare that with the Golden Isle casino. I had to laugh.
We could use a little more action, but I enjoyed seeing Miguel tagging along with his brother and Ed. Agree that the gov's family is a little toooo close. Also that the only thing maintaining interest at times is the fashion parade of evening gowns.

Cece, thank you so much for the recap, by reading it the episode felt so much more interesting.

Just like everybody else, I love your psychological evaluation of Doris' passions - anyone care to guess what might happen if she and Karim join forces?

Yesterday I mentioned how I find the lack of romance in the tn a total turn off, but today some of you made me realize that the revenge bit is not that great, either. MA should have a plan by now, but I have no idea what that is. So far she's done nothing about it but Ew is dead, Miguel is pretty much at her mercy and Tav is smitten, even if she treated him like scum (and not the sexy kind, mind you).

So the game begins. Good for us. But tlking about revenge, as far as I remember revenge is a dish best served cold. So our mari is smart.
An soon we'll have a fiesta. Second from the beginning or am I wrong? First was a disaster for Mari. So what about the second?
Talking about Mari, who wants to see the real Lupita? It is not a spoiler :))) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7339/9372048505_5e4acc0959_k.jpg
Alegria

Thanks, Cece.It seems that the writers are just ad libbing . The main characters just keep repeating the same things over and over.."Could MA be MC?..nah, MA has different clothes and hairstyles and she can walk in heels. She must just be a doppelgänger." ...." I WILL get revenge on ALL."...."Where are my dress shoes and my bottle?"...."NO, she's not MC, and Where's sweet, innocent Ara..me want.."...." My dad is the governor."...."I will make Mari MY habibi...I have spoken...Make it so." ...Blahblahbllah

Then, the writers introduce new characters instead of making the action move forward on the main storyline.

I am actually beginning to miss the monkey.

Terrific recap CeCe. This show is crazy confusing. It's a real job trying to keep up, which is hard to do when nothing makes sense.

So now Karim will interfere with the vengeance with a kidnapping. How many episodes will that use up? And it's the stupidest plot idea ever. Except the part of Octavio not recognizing MC. That's even stupider.

Most casinos have a 2 way mirror that lets the casino owners watch the floor without them knowing it. That would have been a great way to work out a lot of the scenes, too bad they didn't think of it.

It wasn't in the recap, but I recall that after MC left the governor, he then signaled to his people in an odd way that made me think he was planning something on his own with regards to MC. Did anyone else catch that?

They could run this story with Miguel losing big time at the tables and losing his ranch to MC. Then she could be the new owner of the ranch and exact her revenge on Lucia and Miguel and even Octavio as the new owner. Kick them out of it and make them poor like she was. But I doubt the plot will go this way. It makes too much sense.

Yeah, the entire budget was spent on the actors & wardrobe, $1.87 on the entire writing staff.

They copy-pasted the Marimar's script. Most of the dialogues are the same. So I think it was very easy work for Romero as he made the adaptation of Marimar and CI. I want his job.
Alegria

Maria Alejandra, before you start your venganza and so that you will be taken seriously, please remove that giant cinnabun from your head!

"I will make Mari MY habibi...I have spoken...Make it so."...Blahblah" LOL

Susanlynn: ITA with everything you mentioned. Their conversations are like wash, rinse and repeat. I hope we get a little advancement in the plot soon.

Cathyx: :And it's the stupidest plot idea ever. Except the part of Octavio not recognizing MC. That's even stupider." Hahaha seriously. I do not get how kidnapping Mari would solve any problems for Karim. You are right...very few things on this show makes sense so I will just let this obvious plot device string along for a few episodes.

Also that part when Mari walked out on the governor. He said that she had reason to be angry at him and he had to figure out how to fix the mess he just created. After that, it seemed that he was acknowledging friends/colleagues in the casino.

Alegria: You are right I saw the first 10-12 episodes of Marimar and it seemed like they were following very closely to the script even back then. Perhaps that part of the problem with the show....the should have updated some plot lines to make it more credible for these times.

"$1.87 on the entire writing staff."

LOL Variopinta

As I suspect they are using the same monkey writers many of us on the patio had rued during portions of Abismo, I suspect that about covers the cost of bananas for the "staff". ) Moctavio's would be a separate cost as he is a Star!

Daisynjay

Alegria- LOL! Funny photo. Glad they give the baby a break every now and then and use a fill-in.

CeCe and the entire CI crew,
Thank you *so* much for your recaps this week. I've been on the road since Wednesday and the backlog of episodes of my shows was just too big. I appreciate all your work and detail so I can pick up on Monday and still know what's going ont.

CeCe, Thank you so much for the wonderful recap. The short of it was great--how good you are at being succinct but inclusive. But you are equally great at giving us all the details. Gracias!

Eli Perez, LatinaInMd, Adriana Noel thanks for your recaps as well. I'm sorry I was unable to contribute but please know your work was enjoyed. And Vivi, thanks for pinch hitting in such great style.

I'm not that big of an Ed fan but I have to admit that I have enjoyed the honest feelings he is showing. I laughed at Ed's aggravation of dealing with Tav's drunkard brother as he continues to be a good friend to Oblivio. And his vexation at Oblivio getting the rich girls while Ed, not so much, was funny.

i will admit to being flummoxed and baffled by Luciafer's turn in behavior. I thought it was one of her crazy schemes at first but maybe not(?). What is crazy though is this whole Miguel as fugitive storyline. It's ridiculous Miguel didn't just call a lawyer.

I'm still holding out hope for a Solita and JA romance.

Barbara

Hello! May I butt in here? Been busy for quite sometime and were not really blogging for a while. I am beginning to like this tn only because of Ana Brenda. I do have a question why MC does not use her father's financial analysts of his other casinos to audit or evaluate this seemingly rotten floating casino and so that what's her name Carola can be charged with fraudulent management. This should be an easy job for those people.

Vida, your suggestion is reasonable and logic, and that's exactly why you won't see it used in this tn...If MC finds a simple way to take care of the Casino, she won't have any more reasons to stay there and her entire quest for vengeance would have to find other venues...
She admitted herself that the only reason she's so obsessed with this particular Casino is because Tav is around and she wants her revenge...

What a great recap CeCe. Your take on things is very much like my own. Your short version covered things quite adequately but I'm so glad you gave us your deluxe expanded treatment including your personal thoughts and humorous observations.. Excellent.

As for sibling incest, Vivi, refresh my memory, in El Talismán, Did Lucretia and Antonio turn out to actually be brother and sister? There was certainly a strong sib incest theme there... in fact they were my favorite couple.

LOL Carlos! There was no incest in El Talisman, but the Beltbuckle and his sis Lu gave off so much heat in their often confrontational conversations, that the audience could definitely pick up a vibe. Turns out the stars were just boinking each other in real life, and now they have a beautiful baby girl as a result. So one good thing DID come from that terrible telenovela!

Adriana Noel: ITA. She also needs to stop ignoring her other casinos before someone does the same thing as Carola and rob her blind.

Carlos: Thanks and I am glad you enjoyed both perspectives!

CorgiMom: I would like a JA and Solita pairing but isnt she super young. Like 16? I cannot remember hers or JA's age.

A small point and maybe it doesn't
matter but the make-up department
had some of Corola's hair showing in the back under her short haired wig.

Can't wait for tonight---trouble brewing between young Doris and Maricruz? Watch out Doris, you haven't seen Maricruz 1.0 you could be in for more than you can handle.

OK, now on to our next project... how about a name for Solita's little boy?
I think that we can all agree to rule out Eusebio Jr. I think Tobias would be a great choice since Tobias has been so kind and good with her.

Carlos

Carlos---I'm surprised with Lupita.
I was thinking maybe Octavia to spite Octavio or maybe Alejandra in honer of her father but Lupita?

I have no idea what name Solita will chose.
the gringo

Carlos, Ramiro.

Does Carola wear a wig? I thought that hair at the nape of her neck was just the underside of her very strong weight line 'do. If it's a wig it's the best one since Kim Novak as Madeleine in Vertigo.
