Corazón Indomable #36, 7/1/2013: One Day You’re In, and the Next Day You’re Out, and Mari is OUT!

We start off once again with MariAle rejecting Karim’s measly half a million dollar diamond necklace and earrings, via phone. “I’m not for sale, and I never will be!” Mari claims he would have done better to send her a humble bouquet of flowers (didn’t he try that already?). She tells him to find female company elsewhere. “I’ve got more important things to do.”  *Click* Cara de muy, pero MUY, confused de Karim.

Speaking of confused…up in Tamaulipas, Jose Antonio overestimates Octavio’s powers of reasoning and deduction and figures he must be up to date on what REALLY happened to Maricruz after speaking to Santa (the SAINT). Nope, not so much. He doesn’t know what to believe. JA can’t believe the crap coming out of Tav’s mouth. “Maricruz is NOT a thief!” Tav is still confused because: 1) she was in jail, after all; and 2) Luciafer dropped the charges and freed her. Plus, JA and Santa have no proof to back up their accusations. JA gets in his face (more than a ranch peon should with his boss) and tells Tav his low down, crappy family set Mari up, and freed her just to get her out of town.

Tav swears he will find Mari in D.F. The rest of the scenes with Tav on the ranch are of him asking himself who is lying—The Saint or Lucifer. Hmmm…let’s think about this. He remembers his wedding night with innocent Maricruz, when he deflowered her. Miguel, meanwhile, paces and worries about Tav churning up trouble. Luciafer sits on her throne and is secure in her version of the truth (even Miguel doesn’t know the real truth). Her calm veneer cracks a bit when Miguel says he’ll insist on bringing the cops back into the matter to prove that Santa is lying. Uh oh! She convinces Miguel to just let sleeping (and low down dirty lying) dogs lie, and keep the peace. Miguel wouldn’t have the heart to send an old lady to jail for defamation, would he? (Oh, she’s good!)

They both get what they want when Tav packs his bag and starts heading for the door. His only request is that they use the money he previously sent for Mari, to fund a big memorial mass for Don Ramiro. Luciafer is not pleased. She gets another shock to the system when Tav speaks of his plans to find Maricruz, since now he’s sure the Maricruz he saw in D.F. all those months ago was his Maricruz—even though Luciafer lied/said it couldn’t be, since Maricruz was in the pueblo. He gives Luciafer a tiny bit of grief about that lie. Is she repentant? Nope! He mentions that Mari was living in the same boarding house as he. Luciafer is thrown off her game by that news for a half second, but recovers when they hear the car honking for Tav. Oh happy day! She even goes in for a hug, she’s so giddy he’s leaving, but Tav blocks her and shuffles out the door. Outside, Miguel asks what he’ll do once he finds Mari. “Get the truth.” He knows Mari wouldn’t lie to him. If he finds out what Santa said is true, Miguel and Luciafer will get nothing but hate and vengeance from him from that moment on!

On Isla Dorada, Aracely brings up going to D.F. for a few days again (for her tryst with Ed). Teo is worried about all the dangers, and fears she won’t come back. She assures him she’ll be fine/is only going for a few days/and will come back. Teo says he can’t force her to stay, and offers to buy the plane ticket for her. She is overjoyed. Teo just has one request—if she decides not to come back, please call and tell him. She promises she’ll come back. He tells her that her presence in his life has made him want to become a better, more successful person. He promises to bring her great happiness and kisses her hands with devotion. Aracely looks uncomfortable and thought bubbles not understanding why Teo can’t see that Ed is her future and happiness.

Later, Teo whines to Mari about Aracely’s plans to leave for the big, bad city. Buttinski Mari totally agrees with Teo and hightails it over to Teo’s house to speak with Aracely. Mari gets right to the point and says she knows Aracely is going to D.F. for a dirty weekend with the pilot. Know-it-all Mari pulls the “I have experience with patans, and you should listen to me” card. Aracely tells her to butt out and let her make her own mistakes. “I’m going! One way or another!” (por las buenas, o por las malas) Mari tells Aracely that she didn’t have anyone to look out for her, just her grandpa. And she regrets being taken advantage of by that shameless jerk! “So, just because you were deceived means it’s going to happen to me?” “If Ed really loved/cared for you, he’d come and ask Teo for your hand!...He won’t do it, because he doesn’t want anything serious with you. He just wants you for a booty call/good time (una aventura).”

Mari once again begs Aracely to remain at Teo’s side. Aracely looks like she’s giving Mari’s words some thought, but she is sure Ed cares for her.  He’s just scared of Teo’s gruff attitude. Mari pushes Aracely to make this a requirement for Ed, even though marriage is not necessarily all it’s cracked up to be either, and she well knows. On that pessimistic note, she sashays out. (AB’s hair really looks fabulous in this scene, doesn’t it? No wonder she’s Panteen’s spokesperson.) Mari reports to Teo that she’s not sure if she had an effect on Aracely. Teo is more convinced that he has to conquer his future and destiny. Mari advises Teo to try reverse psychology on Aracely, and be supportive of her plans. That will surely make her reflect on her decision. This doesn’t seem to work very well, because Aracely is all smiles when Teo later hands her the plane tickets.

On the boat, Tony whines to Raiza about having to do Carola’s dirty work and scare off La Mendoza within three days. He wants to pass the job on to Teo. Raiza lets him know that Carola’s already barked up that twisted tree, and Teo wants no part in it. She tries to convince him that La Mendoza is harming the casino and their profits, and has to leave the island. Tony still wants to talk to Teo.

Karim whines to Mohamed about Mari rejecting him- AGAIN. Blah, blah, blah. Mohamed is as tired of hearing it as Viewerville, and calls it a whim. Mohamed advises him to change tactics. Ignore her—no gifts, no compliments, no stalking, nada. (Mari will be so very happy.) Even better, they should return to their home in Arabia, without even giving her a thought. That would surely get her attention.

Tav returns to the boarding house in D.F. and once again begs Serafina to give him Mari’s contact info. Serafina repeats the exact same things she told him before—she doesn’t have her current address; hasn’t heard from her in a long time; she came not long after you did, with a deaf-mute sister and a monkey; they were poor and ignorant. (How many times will Tav have to hear it before it sticks?) He is once again sure it’s HIS Maricruz. HIS wife. He wants to beg her forgiveness for all the harm he did her.

Carola e-mails Don Ale and tattles on Mari bragging that she’s going to get a power of attorney from Don Ale to run the casino on his behalf. Carola either wants Ale to fire her, or she’ll do it herself! She offers to buy the casino from him—this time offering to pay more than her last offer. Don Ale is discombobulated by this bit of news about Mari. He shares his concerns later with Tobi, about putting so much power in the hands of a child whom he has known for so little time. Tobi is unconcerned, after all, “Señora Maricruz is your…”
A: My what?
T: *Gulp*

Tobi covers by saying Maricruz is Don Ale’s representative. He sent her there specifically to defend his interests. Just give her the power of attorney. Tobi is sure that Mari will continue to be loyal and will send him accurate accounts. Trust her! Don Ale can’t do it, even as much as he values her. He can’t put his whole fortune in her hands. That fortune is for his daughter—only her. (Hey Tobi. Don Ale is looking pretty healthy these days. Kind of like Santa Claus in that red robe. Now might be a good time to reveal that truth.)

Our fly boys gossip in the cockpit, when they should be keeping an eye on the skies. The usual—Ed’s insistence on stealing Aracely’s innocence; Tav’s obsession with MC 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. Tav is sure that after using and abusing her and ditching her in D.F., Aracely will be able to bounce back and find work. Tav doesn’t approve. Ed wonders if MC 1.0 and 2.0 could be MC 3.0. Tav shoots that down. Version 3.0 is WAY too refined. Not enough time has passed for such a radical change. Ed thinks he should speak to MC 3.0 a bit more and get on her good side, to see if she is in reality the earlier versions. It would be ideal, as a refined MC is a hell of a lot better than the diamond in the very rough he left behind. Later, at the hotel on Isla Dorada, Tav finds out Maria Alejandra is no longer a guest in the hotel. But he has a plan. He will stalk her at the casino and observe her closely to figure out the truth.

In the casino that night, Karim takes Mohamed’s advice and ignores Mari. Looks like he’s winning at the roulette wheel, and he snottily tells Maricruz it’s because she’s not by his side. She brought him bad luck before; he makes a sexist comment about bad luck women. Mari fires back about undesirable men like Karim and Mohamed, and leaves the roulette table with a satisfied smirk. Raiza heads straight to Carola with the gossip. Carola goes looking for Mari above deck, and demands to know what’s up with her and Karim. Her job is to keep high roller customers like Karim happy. Mari reminds her once again that she doesn’t answer to Carola, who only owns a tiny share in the casino, but instead to Don Ale. Carola heads back inside where Karim orders her to fire Mari, IMMEDIATELY. Bwahahaha! (If Karim had a moustache, instead of a 7 o’clock shadow, he would be twirling it.) Carola jumps for joy silently, and heads right back up deck to carry out Karim’s orders. YOU’RE FIRED/VOTED OFF THE ISLAND/THE WEAKEST LINK!

After dropping that bomb on La Mendoza, Carola heads off to order the captain to bring the ship back to the dock so that they can throw Mari off, and she advises that Mari keep on walking, right off the island. She then finds Tony and tells him tonight is the night to get rid of La Mendoza. The boat’s been ordered back, La Mendoza will be thrown off, and all their problems will be resolved.

Above deck, Tav observes Mari and screws up the courage to approach her to continue his SLOW investigation of her true identity. He pauses when he sees Carola approach Mari and order Tony to throw Mari off ship. Tony first apologizes to Mari, and then grabs her arms, not realizing it’s not so easy to wrangle a wildcat. Tav, however, thinks he’s her knight in shining armor, rushes in, and punches Tony to the ground. Carola is open mouthed impactada, and shouts at Tav to butt out. Tony pops back up, and now a full on brawl begins when Ed jumps in to keep the two pugilists apart, and Mari goes after Carola! Just as it took a full SWAT team to neutralize Mari in Tamaulipas, a full security team goes right past the three big muscular young guys battering each other, and grabs Mari off of Carola. Karim, nose high up in the air, with his entourage in tow, comes to see the show.  Carola assures him everything is under control, and he walks away. But he walks away more convinced than ever that fighter Mari is a whole lot of woman (hembra), and just the woman for him!

Once things settle down, Tav asks Mari if she’s ok. She thanks him for the help, but says she didn’t need it. He offers to see her home, and she refuses that too. Ed is right there to witness his buddy crash and burn with La Mendoza once again. He gives him a pitying pat on the shoulder.

Inside the casino, Tony ices his bruised lip (there isn’t enough ice to soothe his bruised ego for failing to throw 1 small woman off the boat), and shares the blow by blow of the evening’s fracas with Teo. Somehow, in Tony’s mind this was all Mari’s fault. The scandal Mari caused could be bad for the casino, and therefore bad for all of them. Teo is tickled by the gossip and is sure Mari was in the right. Tony admits to being behind the last “scare” given to Mari to get her to leave the island. And after tonight, he’ll do what it takes to make her go! Teo listens and looks worried.

Karim and his posse return home in their Humvee limo, which is likely as big as one of the surrounding islands. Karim is back in “that woman has to be mine” mode. Mohamed listens and looks worried.

In her new home, Mari kicks off her shoes and worries about Don Ale giving her power of attorney, so that she can fight Carola. If he doesn’t give it to her, she’s going to have to spill the frijoles and tell him that she’s his daughter! (Get that medical team ready!)

Avances: Mohamed looks for Mari, on Karim’s behalf, and is told she can no longer set foot on the boat or the island. Mohamed does not look pleased. Carola tells Mari she’ll come back to the casino over her dead body! Mari retorts that she must be looking at a corpse then! She then tells Carola that she is Don Alejandro’s daughter!

Thank god for autopilot, right?

I just wish MC (MA?) would have told Araceli to go enjoy the adventura with His Hotness, but for the love of three pregnancies already use birth control. She doesn't need to get married already and for dang sure Ed doesn't need to ask the guy she's known for like three weeks for permission to marry her. Gak!

Kelly

Amen about that autopilot Kelly! And great advice to Aracely. Enjoy the hot pilot, but for goodness sake don't get pregnant!

If anyone wants to try their hand at guest recapping, La Paloma will be away Thursday July 25th and August 1st and needs someone to fill in for her. Send me an e-mail if you're up for it.

Ummmmm. I am for sale if anyone would like to buy me a half million dollar necklace.

Cynderella

@Vivi - awesome recap!!! If you don't get volunteers, I can do Aug. 1st. (I considered July 25th, but then remembered I'm already slated for July 22nd.)

Raise your hand if you actually think Luciafer is going to use Tav's money to hold a mass for Don Ramiro (the man she murdered!). Anyone? Anyone?

Latina- Thanks for offering to take August 1st for La Paloma.

Great one Vivi!

I won't raise my hand that's for sure, but because of her sins Luciafer must be onto some bigtime divine justice from above I can't wait what she gonna get at the end.

This Araceli thing I just don't get, MC leave her alone, don't butt in, she'll learn her own mistakes.
Most probably it'll be a twin pregnancy but who cares? :(

@ Kelly, you took the words right out of my mouth! What is wrong with Araceli having some fun with a guy she likes, provided that she USE some form of birth control. MariAle is starting to sound like a broken record with her speeches about men behaving badly...guess what, that's what they do, but that doesn't mean you have to fall for it.
Even if Ed only wants Araceli for some fun right now, he might develop feelings for her if they allow him to. What is this nonsense about talking with Teo to ask for permission?

@ Cynderella, I'm not for sale (I'm married DANG!), but I could certainly go for a loan... It's not like Karim is dreaming of arabian wedding night or anything...what is it with these women that they think marriage the first time a man spits their way?

@ Vivi, I could do the recap for the 25th of July, if nobody else offers...it's my off week so I'm good with it

Where's Heidi Klum when you need her? Love the recap Vivi!

I'm a little WTH? with Mari just taking upon herself to spill the beans on being Don Ale's daughter. (I thought even the POA was overstepping.) Like that won't get back to him? Not sure for all her "lessons learned" attitude, that she has learned one important lesson....think before you leap. Boy, I sure hope this doesn't backfire. I want my Don Ale around.

So Tav is showing some signs of brain activity. (And JA should have punched him). The meter had a little jump there for a minute. The Wicked Witch sure was able to have several of those "wide-eyes to the camera" moments last night, but yeah, won't be raising my hand to think she'll actually use the cash as Tav intends. Only chance for that is if Miguel grows a spine, takes it and spends accordingly. But with his befuddled, slack jaw looks like night, I don't hold much hope out for that.

Frankly, and Mari is pretty, fiery and all, but I don't get the Karim obsession. I think this is more the chase and proving he can get the girl then a real attraction. But only possible win for him is if Mari is stupid enough, and she seems to have her moments, to use him as her "boyfriend" to get back at Tav.

And Mari needs to stick her nose out of Aracely's business. But I think the writers believe we are rooting for Mari in warding off evil Ed from Are. NOT!

Don't think MC/MA would be very happy wearing a burka.

Mentir para vivir is after QBA, after this I doubt you want to miss it. Not a bad voice but who cares whether he can sing.

Is MC/MA going to walk the plank?

Oblivio, "could that woman with the deaf/mute sister & mono be MY wife with the deaf/mute sister & mono, let me think about this, calling brain cell, calling brain cell, over & out"

Just great, Vivi!! I thought the "YOU’RE FIRED/VOTED OFF THE ISLAND/THE WEAKEST LINK!" Was fabulous.

And I threw all kinds of Nerfazos at my TV when Tav handed over that cash. QTH? Buh-bye cash. Poor Ramiro. I hope *someone* finally has a mass read for him.

@Variopinta
...calling brain cell, calling brain cell, over & out... LMAO!!

@LatinaInMD
I saw your comment IRT to AB on yesterday's thread. I am so happy for her, but very sad for me since it looks like we won't be seeing much of her. WAH!!! It's not fair! She's the whole package...pretty AND can act. Now we'll just be stuck with pretty, but sin talento actrices.

Obviously the transformation of Maricruz/Maria Alejandra is not complete. She still has a LOT of growing up to do, and part of that involves learning to respect other people’s decisions, thinking before she acts, and not jumping to conclusions about people (based on her limited life experiences).

I really hope we are now done with Octavio being indecisive if MC 2.0 was the same as MC 1.0. I did notice that Serafina has dropped "pregnant" as one of her descriptors of MC 2.0. Will we ever get a scene of Tav remembering that bit of information Serafina originally gave him about MC 2.0? Now Tav can move on to figuring out if MC 3.0 is HIS MC.

Adriana- Thanks for offering to cover for La Paloma on Thursday the 25th. Between you and LatinaInMD we now have it covered. La Paloma will be away the 18th too, but none of the shows are on that evening for Premios Juventud.

I did notice that Serafina has dropped "pregnant" as one of her descriptors of MC 2.0. Will we ever get a scene of Tav remembering that bit of information Serafina originally gave him about MC 2.0?

I must have missed this when I was gone. I hope the remembers that soon, too.

@Variopinta-I just checked out Mentir Para Vivir. The cast looks awesome! I am completely uninterested in La TempesBAD so I will definitely be checking out MPV as my second TN.

Sara- Serafina mentioned it to Tav when she was first trying to set up her too young lodgers with each other. Not exactly a selling point when you're trying to interest a young guy in a woman. But Tav was in "I only have one woman on my mind" mode at the time, and had no idea that the Maricruz Serafina was describing was HIS MC, so it all juts went right over his pretty little head. After that, Serafina never mentioned it to him again, even after she realized that what Tav was saying about being MC's husband that did her wrong was likely true.

@Sara C, Mentir para Vivir is great, I saw 2 episodes and then stopped (want to watch here with eveybody else).
La tempesBAD (LOL) is truly awful!

@Sara C. - lol at your "pretty but sin talento actresses" - that's the norm, so I'm sure we'll survive. Besides, there are some talented actresses out there waiting for their big break, I'm sure - like Gaby Mellado (Solita), who truly is showing how talented she is with her non-speaking role. I'm more concerned about the lack of talented actors - it's pretty slim pickings when it comes to twentysomethings and thirtysomethings. Not sure how much more they can get out of Jorge Salinas and Fernando Colunga, both in their 40s; and I still don't get how fortysomething Gabriel Soto is now getting lead roles, when he was never any good. Who else is there? David Zepeda maybe, but I think he works better as a villain - he was promising as a lead at the beginning of LFDD, but disappointing by the end of it, and I couldn't stand him AT ALL on ADP. Depressing!!!!'

@Sara C. - Good call on La TempesBAD. I have a friend who was looking forward to it until I told her it's a remake of HURACAN, a novela from the 90s with Eduardo Palomo and Angelica Rivera. That's all she needed to hear. Beyond the acting issues La TempesBAD has, it is just a plainly bad story. My friend and I both loved Eduardo Palomo (RIP), she more so than me, b/c I gave up on Huracan pretty quickly but my friend suffered through the whole thing just for the sake of seeing Palomo, but by the end it was so bad that it tarnished his image as a great actor.

I can understand why actors sign on to do Salvador Mejia productions, because they have big budgets and get prime time slots in Mexico. I assume that also comes with a bigger paycheck. But surely the actors aren’t surprised when the script is ridiculous and the show is a flop. Truth be told, many of Mejia’s shows aren't flops, because the big stars he gets are big draws for the audience. QBA has star quality and great music (still not enough to suck me in), and seems to be doing well in ratings because of it. But William Levy doesn't seem to be enough to keep Tempestad afloat in the ratings in Mexico. I wonder how it will do here? Fuego did badly in Mexico I believe, but did well in the States.

Every producer seems to have their own secret sauce/formula. Nathalie Lartilleux seems to always have poor, pretty, plucky heroines who the audience roots for (Corazon Indomable; Cuidado con el Angel; Mar de Amor). Carlos Moreno (CME; Amor Bravio) likes multi-layered stories, smart heroines, and complex villains.

I look forward to Mentir Para Vivir because, although Rosy Ocampo is better known for her comedies (and does very well with them), I was very impressed with how she handled La Fuerza del Destino. She kept it short, engaging, and swiftly moving, which I read will also be the case with Mentir.

Latina, as far as I know, La TempesBAD is a remake of La Tormenta...granted, it doesn't show much...

I think Zepeda & Levy both have promise & except for Sortilegio, neither have had anything decent to show their talent.

Fuerza del destino with Zepeda was ok, Abismo del pasión was abysmal.

Levy 1st caught my eye in Pasión as Vasco. He looked better with long hair in that than he looks in Tempistad. Mejia should have borrowed Estrada's wig for him.

I didn't see him in Cuidado con el angel, how was that one?

Carla Estrada and her director got the best out of Zapeda as a villain, and Levy as the galan in Sortilegio. I have liked them both since then. Zapeda did very well in STUD as a character who was morally ambiguous. Neither all good, nor all bad. I think that sort of character suits him better than a goody goody galan. In STUD and LFDD he also played a father to young boys, and he was very good with the child actors. Where he runs into trouble is playing the cloying romantic scenes with the heroine. Maybe he can get a romantic scenes acting coach to help him out. Hopefully he will have improved in that department for Mentir.

As for Abismo, NONE of the young leads came off well in that tn. I wouldn't want to be friends with a single one. The older characters and villains were great. I blame the writing for the younger characters and perhaps the direction too.

Anything that the Mejias touch, turns to mierda. Especially if Palomo was in it, think Corazón salvaje. The one with Palomo was wonderful, the one with Yañéz was so bad, they put it on at midnight.

I have looked at Salvador Mejia's list of accomplishments & can't find even one tolerable novela, even with my telenovio, FC.

@LatinaInMD-I agree with your assessment. There is more promise in the group of female actresses than in the male.

@Vivi-
She kept it short, engaging, and swiftly moving, which I read will also be the case with Mentir.

Yet another reason to tune in. There is something to be said for keeping is short. Maybe it's me, but I find it hard to maintain interest after about 140-150. However, that may just be that the extended TNs I've seen did a horrible job with the extensions.

Speaking of extensions--William Levy's look awful.

@Vivi again-I agree about DZ's character in STuD. He did a great job with it. Also agree about his romantic scenes. He just has too serious a face for me. He's attractive, but his features just say "villain" to me.

IRT William Levy: I caught a bit of Cuidado yesterday afternoon and he looks so YOUNG!!! Was Cuidado so long ago, or is he just overworked? He looks so tired lately.

Vivi Tav doesn't know MC 3.0 is pregnant - as no one else for that matter- so I don't think he can link Serafina's hint with the "facts" he knows.

Even for us how "know" hard to belive the pregnancy (I want that blue dress badly) what do you ecpect from Tav already overfireing 2 brain cells?

Latina, what good to see in the next season? I checked La tempesbad, it's not worth mentioning, and don't like Zepeda. Might be checking it here at caray for the comments though.
What have you heard about De que te quiero, te quiero or the Libre para amarte?
Also checked Dama Y Obrero at Telemundo, it looked good, might just stick with that.

@Adriana Noel- Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to watching with the Caray crowd, too!

Irisz- Oh, I'm not expecting Tav to connect ANY dots to the true identity of MC 3.0. But now that he knows MC 2.0 and 1.0 are the same, he should at some point remember that Serafina mentioned that MC 2.0 was pregnant. That would be a HUGE reason to step up the search for his wife.

ViVi Thank you once again for an excellent, entertaining recap. I am getting well settled in to the story line with the help of all of you.

I was again distracted by the wandering hump, but Teo got it well under control after about 10 minutes. I am so anticipating the light bulb moment when Tav realizes that MA is in fact MC. AND will she let Tav become a real father to the bebe?

I admit I liked La usurpadora and La madrastra of Meija, maybe because they were the first TNs I ever watched.

Sara - Cuidado was shot 2008-2009 - Levy seems seems worn-out lately he doesn't age well.

Emeraldrose- I am struck by the fact that MC has not made the connection to the mistake her mom made in keeping her away from her loving father (no matter what the issues were between them), and what she is planning with her and Tav's baby. Tav was a crap husband, but she doesn't know if he'll be a good father or not. She isn't even giving him the opportunity.

@irisz79-Thanks for the info. Makes sense that he's worn out. He's all over Spanish language TV, Dancing with Stars and JLo videos....

...maybe because they were the first TNs I ever watched.
STuD was my first, TdA was the first I ever recapped. Both hold a place in my heart even though both were hot messes.

@emeraldrose-You crack me up with comments about Teo and the amazing wandering hump. I am on pins and needles about the baby plotline and how it will play. Even more so since Solita is preggers too. When will *she* show up in Isla Dorada? Didn't MariCrAle send for her last week?

Oh, drinking game: take a shot every time Tobias almost spills the beans and quickthinks to cover his tracks.

IHas Carla Estrada retired from doing novelas ? I loved her shows.

Tav was a crap husband, but she doesn't know if he'll be a good father or not. She isn't even giving him the opportunity.

I've always HATED this plot maneuver.

I love that JA called out Tav's family. But there is something redeeming in the fact that Tav can't imagine his own loved ones would deceive and treat him so poorly.

Listening to Luciafer is so frustrating. Can't wait for MA to smack her down.

And MA seriously needs to leave Araceli alone. Ed is fine and she needs to tap that!

De que te quiero, le quiero has Juan Diego Corvarubas (Yago in AB) and Livia Brito. It s/b very intersting to see how they will be as the leads.
LB is very good, JDC hasn't knocked me out so far but he has been pretty good.
Love Cristian de la Fuente, he is about 38 so he has a few galán years.
Gabriel Soto doesn't do a thing for me other than a sidekick.

Another clue for our single brained hero, MC AND MA are both pregnant, could it be?????
I know he doesn't know MA is pregnant yet, but so far he has been very sloooooow on the uptake, so that's what I expect.

Most of you have seen this but it worth seeing again
For you irisz79
La madrastra

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DqnRjoI818

Carla Estrada is making one, it has one of my favorites, Alberto Estrella. He was in Pasión as a pirate. He was also in a cop show series, El Equipo. His film list says Amores verdaderas???? Have you seen him in that?

http://dechismes.com/elenco-confirmado-de-la-telenovela-a-la-luz-del-angel/

LatinaMc, I think there are still some good "young" actors out there, or those like Christian DLF ( fanning self) who are hitting that 40 yard mark, but I have to wonder if some are staying away from Meija productions, or he prefers going to the same well of tried and trues.

Zepeda is ok, doesn't make me watch a show. Personally, I like Eugenio Siller & Valentino Lanus, but gees where are they? All we got of Val was a few episodes in Amor. Love Erick Elias, but he may be permanently pigeon-holed to the side kick, sub-main actor much like Mark Tacher gets. I think Sebastian Rulli will continue to get leads, and he gets better with each role. He hit it out of the park at times in Teresa.

I'm also waiting to see when that little cutie from Absimo grows up, Diego V.....something. I'd like to see one of these child actors grow up to be a hunk. Most have been kind of a fizzle.

Variopinta...Was Alberto Fernando's sidekick in Pasion ? if so, I liked him very much in that novela.

I need Marcelo Cordoba to get a leading man role. he is a hottie Mchotterson.

Thanks Variopinta, I love that clip.

Angelli Nesma makes a remake of the Bodas de odio (Amor Real) and already confirmed A. Boyer & S. Rulli as protagonistas, the new one comes out this November replacing the Tempesbad

http://www.tvnotas.com.mx/2013/06/26/C-51288-angelique-boyer-y-sebastian-rulli-protagonizaran-remake-de-bodas-de-odio.php

Oh---Susanlynn, I agree on that on. Forgot about Marcelo.

Thanks for the info on the Boyer/Rulli TN. They do have chemistry on screen. From everything I'm reading here, sounds like Temp may not be worth the time to even give a try. Maybe that's a good thing. Two TN's at one time is enough.

Variopinta- He won't make a connection even if he sees that MA is pregnant because he doesn't seem to remember Serafina telling him MC was pregnant. That's my point. That VERY important bit of information seems to have slipped out of his memory bank. Either that, or the writers have already forgotten that Serafina shared this bit of info with him. It's just odd to me. Just as odd as Ale not immediately wondering is MC was his long lost MA after seeing her resemblance to Lupita. It's either poor writing, or he will have an epiphany at some point and the memory will come rushing back.

He should also remember at some point, if he ever gets close to figuring out the pregnancy mystery, the MC herself spoke to him of thinking she was pregnant when he described Luciafer's symptoms to her.

Thank you Vivi---A great job.

I agree that MC/Ana Brenda looked ravishing beautiful last night and her hair played a big part in that,
it was gorgeous.

In the advances Mari tells Corola that she is Don Ale's daughter--bad
move on MC's part. Corola wants to own the casino and probably will stop at nothing---A hit man for Mari? Could be. With Mari out of the way, and Don Ale in poor health, well, the casino is hers?

Maricruz should have flown back and told Don Ale everything that she had found out---and oh yes! she's his daughter. She would have gotten the Power of Attorney then
but now?

Carlos---I am even more sure than yesterday. Karim is obsessed with Maricruz, pregnant or not it doesn't matter. This is a man with money and power, he has never lost
a conquest and conquest is all that Maricruz is to him. If all else fails, a drugging, a kidnaping and a plane ride to Saudi Arabia could be in store for Maricruz. Never to be seen or heard from again? well, this is a tn, I wouldn't go that far.

Maricruz should stay out of Aracely's life? NO! NO! NO! WRONG!
WRONG! WRONG! Aracely should be damn glad that she has Maricruz guardian angel there for her. I said it way back when. This guy Ed
is nothing more than a handsome playboy [basura] with money. He cares nothing at all for Aracely, all that he wants to do is get her in bed for a night or two, then he
will throw her back out on the street and look for another young pretty to bed down. This is his method of operation, a woman at every airport kind of a guy. Remember when he went to the rancho to talk Octavio into comming back--you know like old times, fly here fly there, wine women and song.
Aracely will be hurt deeply, she is not that kind of [loose woman] She thinks that Ed loves her [HA HA!] Thank God for angel Maricruz.
That's the way I see it.
the gringo

Susanlynn,
Yes he was the sidekick Mario.
Alberto Estrella was also in a movie
Esmeralda de la noche, he was one of Esmeralda's 5 husbands, & at the same time & they all loved her. Very entertaining, made in 1997 with Maria Rojo as Esmeralda. BTW, where has she been, haven't seen her since MEPS.

Marcelo Cordaba is in De que Quiero, le quiero. Not the lead though. He is my #3 telenovio.

It also has him listed as being in Amores Verdaderos in addition to Alberto Estrella, did I give up too soon on that one?

Remake of Amor Real, no way, it's like remaking Gone with the Wind, don't mess with perfection, just show it again & again.

Vivi
Yes you can't expect a single brain cell to retain much.

We have been overlooking a very important point about Oblivio, his brain is below the belt.

Variopinta...I agree completely that Amor Real was perfect with Fernando Colunga and Adela Noriego. It is one of my two fav novelas...the other is Alborada. I cannot imagine a remake. As you said,it would be like trying to remake Gone with the Wind...one of my favorite books and movies.

Gringo...perhaps we are soul siblings. I, too, think that Ara should listen to Mari. I think Mari is trying to save her from the heartache Mari has felt. Also , you, Vivi , and I have been defending Lili in AV. (Although, I must say that I'm getting a little tired of her temper tantrums concerning her papa and Miss Vikki. )

Susanlynn
Have you seen Alberto Estrella or Marcelo Cordoba in AV?

Alberto Estrella (I saw him in PVAA) has not shown up in AV. Not sure what role he would play if he does. Marcelo is coming any day now, but not everyone on the AV thread knows he will be playing this key character in the final weeks.

Just read the link on Bodas de odio, it also has
Luis Roberto Guzmán, the really bad, bad Diego in Alborada. Very good actor, I've wondered where he has been.

It's too early for another remake of Bodas de Odio.

Televisa needs to read this blog.

I am waiting for the day when someone like Karim kidnaps an unwilling target who either castrates him or commits suicide before he can rape her.

Gringo and Susanlynn- There is no doubt that Aracely is being naive about Ed and his intentions. But Mari has gone above and beyond to warn her. She's done what she can on that front, now she needs to move to the next level of messaging/advice-- if you are going to do this, make sure you protect yourself (emotionally and physically).
Mari's message to her shouldn't be to choose dependence on one man (Teo) over dependence on another (Ed). She should be giving Aracely a “girl power” message. Fall in love, fine. But don't make any man your one and only salvation. Save yourself by getting a job, getting an education, and working towards your dreams. That way, if any of these men disappoint you, you will be self sufficient and be able to make it on your own. Oh, and DON'T get pregnant if you're going to go have sex with one of these dudes (until you know he's the real deal and you've made a commitment to each other). But instead, all she keeps saying is OBEY Teo and me, and don’t ask any questions, like a good little girl. That’s the kind of condescending attitude Tav had with her.

Ooh..ooh..the guy that played Diego in Alborada can play super, demented evil. i believe he is from Puerto Rico. The last time I saw him was when he was in that novela about drugsyeaes ago. I did not watch it. He can really bring the crazy bad.

Vivi....that's a pretty tall order for someone who just started wearing shoes . Mari only knows that Ara could get hurt like she was. Maybe she never got around to the birds and bees tutor and does not yet know about birth control herself. How long did her lessons run anyway ? She spent a lot of time learning to walk in different heel heights...important stuff. I think Mari is still the same old Maricruz in many ways....headstrong, and a little wild and crazy....but subtle and contemplative...she's not. Also, I do not think she is life coach material. She just seems to see Teo as the lesser of two evils. She sees Mister Ed and Captain oblivious as two peas in a pod. also, she went from living in a hut with Abuelo to occasionally being with Oblivio in his bedroom, to life and learning in the mansion with Don Ale....males have always controlled her destiny, so how could she advise Ara to put her big girl panties on and strike out on her own ala Mary Tyler Moorre ?

As for the "emir," I agree that this guy does NOT look the part of the sheik of Araby. Whenever I see him, I think of Meester James from DA. Wasn't he pining after the actress who plays Raisa in that one. He does not look Arabic or Mexican. The casting people must have searched for the least likely candidate for this role. They should have chosen someone dark and mysterious.

@Adriana Noel - thanks for pointing out that La TempesBAD is a remake of La Tormenta, not Huracan. I already informed my friend, the Palomo fan, that it's not the same as Huracan. But, either way, the general consensus seems to be that La TempesBAD is not worth watching.

@Variopinta - Cuidado Con El Angel is on Univision right now in the afternoons, still about two months away from the end, since it is almost 200 episodes long. William Levy is ok on it, and he does have good chemistry with Maite Perroni. But the story is so bad. I started watching it months ago when I had nothing else to watch, and I had committed so much time to it at the beginning that I had to continue watching it by the time it hit it's second phase. The second phase is just ridiculous. William Levy is decent, but nothing out of this world, in it. And, as was the case later on Sortilegio, I think his biggest weakness as an actor is when he tries (and fails miserably) to have gut-wrenching crying scenes. But at least he does well with the love scenes, unlike David Zepeda, who just does not know how to handle love scenes.

As stupid as Ed falling for Aracely in an instant was, I believe they will end up together. He is just not totally committed yet.

As I said before, I think Solita & Aracely are sisters.

Susanlynn- Precisely because Mari has such limited life experience (she's even young than Ara who is 20, while Mari is 19), she needs to back off trying to control Ara's life. She gave her advice, now she needs to butt out. She would better serve Ara if she just befriended her and spent time with her, instead of swooping in to give unsolicited advice in a bossy way, and then swoop out. How about bringing Ara to live with her in her new house? That would be a good first step. Then Ed would have to come ask Mari for Ara's hand! Now, wouldn't that be entertaining? :)

Ha, Ha
Wm Levy does well with the love scenes 'cause he gets LOTS of practice.

Carlos de la Mota was born in the Dominican Republic but there was nothing about his parents.

WL was also very hot in Dancing with the Stars.

Agreed that WL looks like he needs some more rest these days. I only saw parts of Cuidado, but he was very pretty in that (and I do mean pretty). He looked fresh and young. The bags under the eyes and tired looks have only gotten worse each tn since. He is still a VERY attractive man. He just looks like he needs some more sleep and hydration. High def picks up on that stuff.

Vivi that scenario already happened, just with Teo instead of Mari. ;)

Now I wonder if Mari somehow makes Eddy boy ask Teo for permission to court Ari, how would that look?

Maricriuz should mind her own business because I have a feeling Ed will end up loving Araceli. He is to casual about her, keeps saying he only wants to have fun...We've already had a story with the guy ditching the girl, maybe Ed turns out to be the real deal.
But he'll never get the chance to truly fall in love if they keep asking him for a commitment.

I can't wait to watch CdlF's new tn, it starts in October in Mexico(remake of Imperio de Cristal, it has the same production team and writers as AB); he is my number one telenovio when it comes to tns (my number one all around is Matt Bomer!)
BTW, CdlF's first tn for Televisa (Corazon Salvaje) was with Mejia, but for now he really loves working with Carlos Moreno.

Putting aside the story of La Tempesbad, which is not stellar, the main problem I had with it was the fact that they took away Levy's appeal. Nobody watches his tns for his acting skills. Add to that the fact that they brought in a complete newbie as his pareja...there you have it.

A remake of Bodas de odio/ Amor Real seems like such a bad idea. Both those tns were genius, what are the chances of the lightening striking three times?

Irisz- Yes. But seeing Mari play mama bear with Ara and telling Ed off, would be way more fun than watching Teo play papa bear/obsessed lover. Ed knows how to react to the Teo situation (suspicion, anger and indignation). He wouldn't quite know how to react if he had to go through MamaMari to get to Aracely.

WL is so cute when he has that sidewise grin. También un gran cuerpo.
Ck out some of his old modeling pictures for underwear, !Dios Mio!

As 2 Cubanos, Cesar Evora should take him under his wing.

Vivi..I like your idea of Mari asking Ara to be her roommate.

As for William Levy, I was not a big fan until I saw him on Dancing with the Stars. He worked so hard and did such a good job. I also learned that he grew up very poor in Cuba. I do not think long hair suits him. Is that his hair in the new show or a wig ? Has anyone seen him in the M&m commercials ? They are very cute.

Thanks for this great recap Vivi.

I'm ready for some Octavio Maricruz talks. They are married after all and she is expecting a baby. As far as I'm concerned, time for the Emir to fold up his tent and head on back to the desert or wherever.

Carlos

Vivi, you're right about the fun fact, but I see little chance for that.
Maybe if Mari hires Ari to babysit the bebe once it's born as she is so busy managing the casino and stick it up to Caro & Raiza and planning her Venganza against the Narvaez familia.

Regarding WL he still has a good body but looks years older than he is actually, with that hang dog expression, baggy eyes, and prematurely old face. Maybe he also should consider a hair transplant like CE.

He really looks bad bald

CdlF's new novela is
El aroma de tu amor, after Mentir para vivir
cast

Cristián de la Fuente
Alejandra Barros
José Elías Moreno
Flavio Medina
Diana Bracho
Olivia Bucio
Salvador Sánchez
Andrés Mercado
Diana Bracho is great even in the worst novela, FELS
Flavio Medina, Alonso in AB
Olivia Bucio, Augustina in AB
Best of all produced by Carlos Moreno, AB
Looks like an AB reunion

If I see Carla Estrada or Carlos Moreno, I'm in

CdlF has been in a few US shows, Private Practice was one.

Both CdlF & WL are becoming crossovers.

BTW CdlF & WL both came in third on Dancing with the Stars

Dr Carlos
OT, I can't find an answer online, just opinions.
Could a person speak after being shot dead in the heart?

Variopinta good news , I'm interested, do you know who's gonna be the main prota with CDLF?

Irisz, they are still searching for a prota. There are rumors about Karime Lozano (she and Cristian already filmed a tn together in 2005, I guess)and a few other actresses, but nothing sure yet. I'm always trolling Televisa's site, waiting for news about this tn, but so far what Variopinta wrote is all we know.
BTW, I think the name of the tn is pretty awful, I hope they change it.

Thanks Adriana, plz, plz, plz let them get Silvia N.
They were great with Cristian, and the whole gang was great as well. I'm still confused why the AB didn't get MUCH BETTER ratings, it was the best recently IMHO!

Thanks Vivi for the recap! I agree with you in that its OK for MA/MC to give Aracely advise but she shouldnt be so insistent especially since they dont even know each other that well. She should say her two cents then butt out!

Ed is nice to look at but I do not like his personality right now. I think he is just playing Aracely.

I am not tired of arrogant Emir/Alteza yet...i love that silly music that always plays when he is on screen...makes me smirk every time. Plus I always am amused to see what craziness he will pull out his sleeve to "woo" MC/MA.

Finally, my heard died on the inside when I heard of the Amor Real/Bodas y Odia remake. I am in the middle of watching Amor Real right now and its sooo good! All ready one of my favorite Tns. I have mucho respect for Carla Estrada. Unlike Meija who I learned to avoid with a ten feet pole no matter how much I love the cast. He has been having so much failures recently (at least in Mexico) that I do not understand why they let him make novelas! He needs to go...like yesterday.

I don't know who Alejandra Barros is.
It seems the heroine is always the last cast.
I doubt Carlos Morena would cast some beginner.
Cross fingers, Silvia Navarro!
Pls no Maite Perroni, or Angelique Boyer

Alejandra Barros was one of the leads in PVAA-- the abused wife-- and was very good in that. She was also one of the two leads in La Verdad Oculta (she was paired with Ed Yanez). I believe she was the lead in Mariana de la Noche. Didn't see that one, but she was paired with Jorge Salinas.

CeCe
Are you in Mex?
It appears the Mex & US audience has different taste in novelas. I think the Mejias are the worst, but I didn't get the impression that Mex felt the same way.

I think SN is taking a break from tns for a while. She just finished filming a movie, she's thinking of expanding her restautant biz, and I think she wants to do some more theater work. Plus, she did not renew her contract with Televisa. She is currently a free agent. She has also really wanted to do a tn with Carla Estrada and Carla has also really wanted her. There was a period piece project (early 20th century) Carla was toying with for a while and she wanted Silvia for it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if these two talented ladies can find a good mutual project.

I saw that SN will be one of many Latin stars at the Festival People Espanol in San Antonio, TX in late Aug/early Sept.

Mariana de la Noche was good during the first half but the story went nuts during the second half and I would have given up on it except for Jorge and Cesar. It had a good supporting cast, though.

I don't know if I will watch La Tempestad because Levy does nothing for me. Great body, but his lips are too full and nobody can find the right haircut for him.

Variopinta,

OT "Could a person speak after being shot dead in the heart?"

That depends on the punctuation. If shot dead... in the heart, then no. If shot dead (as in right smack) in the heart... then yes... possibly. I've seen (working in ERs years ago) a number of gunshot victims whom the bullet had struck right in the heart who talked up a storm. It depends on the amount of damage done. I remember one guy who didn't even realize that he'd been shot until I pointed the wound out to him. It was a 22 caliber bullet which the surgeon later removed from his heart and the patient survived.

Carlos

Vivi, if only I could interest those two ladies in any of my proposed projects!

Does anyone know what Marianna Karr is doing now. She is one of my favorites and I would love to see her in something now that Amorcita Corizon has completed is afternoon runs.

Variopinta - Nope I am from the good ol' U.S. I sometimes follow the news/ratings of TNs here and in Mexico. Like you I do not like Boyer but I do like Maite...she is not the best actress but I like her work ethic and off screen personality.

Vivi - I also heard that Carla was looking to produce a new Tn (Luz de Angel or something of that sort) but there is not much out there. Still being semi-new to Tns I have not been fortunate to watch a SN production but a lot of you on here seem to like her so I would be willing to give her a shot.

She had a small part in LMDV.
I do not know if Uni buys that one. You can check out online steams.

La Mujer de Vendaval has not been brought to Uni (yet). Not sure if they will bring it or not. I would guess they would show it during the day, but they haven't shown a new tn during the day since Amorcito Corazon ended. They are only showing repeat tns now (recent and much older tns).

Marianna Karr is in

La mujer del vendaval (2013).... Conchita

I think she is also in one we have been discussing but can't remember which one. I like her too.

Dr Carlos
The gun is not a 22 but a 9mm.
Don't have any idea how much damage that could do, could you survive that or speak after being shot dead in the heart?
I'm sure you can guess what I've been watching.

UA
"I don't know if I will watch La Tempestad because Levy does nothing for me. Great body, but his lips are too full and nobody can find the right haircut for him."

Full lips, better to kiss you with, my dear!

I think he is losing his hair at a rapid rate, he is only 32. He didn't look very good with it shaved. But hair isn't everything.
He wears those stupid knit caps that I hate, but many other actors do also, as well as David Beckham.

What a great discussion! So many names came up! How could I forget Marcelo Cordoba? I'm still kicking myself for not watching AB. I have not seen CdlF.

Make no mistake, I think WL looks tired...but he's still gorgeous to me!

La TempesBAD does look to be a doozie of a hot mess...but I bet it will sparkle when Caray gets a hold of it! ;-)

Vivi-I'm glad you brought up all the repeats Univision has "treated" us to of late. I was waiting rather impatiently to see Cachito del Cielo and I guess I will never see it. I know, I know it was a big stinker in Mexico....but I was still holding out hope that it would at least make an afternoon or the midnight time slot. I know Televisa is making more shows, but here in the states we're only seeing repeats. *pout*

As for CI
I am already bored with the Araceli. Let her go to Mexico and leave her alone, MariCrAle. Maybe we can get some plot movement on that front.

Sara- Do you know why Cachito failed in Mexico, other than the odd pairing of Maite P. and Pedro Fernandez? It's interesting that although the public begs for original stories and not refritos, when they get something like Cachito they reject it.

I would have expected Uni to get that one for day time, as well as Mujer de Vendaval, but they seem determined not to show any more new tns during the day.

Vivi-I'm not sure why it failed so badly. I think I read somewhere it was some sort of discomfort with the "galan" as priest idea? (I could be remembering things all wrong.)

Wasn't it kind of a take on the Warren Beatty film "Heaven Can Wait"? Still an original idea...too bad it flopped. It could have opened the floodgates of originality at Televisa.

...but they seem determined not to show any more new tns during the day.

I can't even express how sad that makes me.

Yes. Galan dies and comes back in the body of a priest. Hijinks ensue. I guess I can see how that would make people in a Catholic country uncomfortable. :)

Hard to imagine Pedro Fernandez in anything but singing or comedy, but he is so cute. Could be the problem. I never heard of Cachito del Cielo

Variopinta,

9mm directly to the heart?...possible but highly improbable.

Carlos

I guess I can see how that would make people in a Catholic country uncomfortable. :)

That's why I still held out hope we would see it here...that maybe it wouldn't be *as* bad since we aren't considered "a Catholic country", but I can see where they would want to err on the side of caution.

Maite is big draw here, too. So I still sort of hoped on that point, too. But here it is a year or more later and all I see are CCEA, STuD, UFCS and Zacatillo.

I remembered that the movie Heaven can Wait had Gene Tierney who let her stepson drown. But I guess there is a comedy Heaven can Wait with Warren Beatty.

Variopinta, the Gene Tierney fillm was Leaver Her to Heaven. Great movie about a female sociopath.

It would take a major rerun or new thing to have me watching in daytime right now. I need to find a new job ASAP and can't stall any longer.

I think there was a 1943 Heaven Can Wait with Gene. (Thank you google!)

But Leave Her To Heaven was another good one by Ms. Tierney, too.

Right UA, well Heaven was in there.

I think there's a chance that Univision will show LMDV in daytime, perhaps when CCEA ends. I think CCEA has about two months left to go. My understanding is that Univision had LMDV slated to take the 7 pm timeslot when CDL ended, but when it got wind of how well C.I. was doing (breaking records!!!!) in the 4 pm timeslot in Mexico, Univision decided to bring C.I. here early and put it in the 7 pm timeslot instead. It explains why we are only 11 WEEKS behind the Mexico broadcast of C.I., when generally a novela on Univision is several MONTHS behind the Mexico broadcast, and why LMDV already ended in Mexico but has not arrived here. BTW, C.I. has consistently held the #1 spot in the ratings in Mexico for the past two weeks, ahead of ALL the primetime novelas, and on several previous occasions. In fact, C.I. is the ONLY novela in Mexico right now with ratings above 20 points.

Check out last night's ratings in Mexico: https://twitter.com/luisedemis/status/352216505494147074/photo/1
