Corazón Indomable Fri July 5... "I Did It All!"

As Maricruz packs her magic suitcase, she has only two objectives, her child who is blissfully percolating in her womb and her vengeance directed at the daddy of that contented fetus. She wants to grind him into the dirt with those lethal high heels she wears. Well, she said that there are only two things she can think about but she is also hoping her pappy will give her power of attorney over the casino without croaking when he learns the truth that she is his long lost daughter. The doorbell rings and it's Raiza who has come for a little visit. They eye each other warily.
"Love Your Outfit." "Uh...Likewise."
Though Raiza looks pretty good in blue blouse and black skirt, Maricruz wins the fashion face off with a stylish breezy short lavender chiffon confection.

Kooky, Kooky,  Lend Me Your Comb

The flyboys are also packing for a flight as Octavio tells Eddy of the progress that he is making with Maricruz number 3. They had a nice long chat and he's sure that he can win her over. Eddy takes a moment to primp.

Raiza has come to talk. She tries to bond telling Maia Alejandra that they have a lot in common and are from the same class. Maria assures her that in no way are they in the same class. Maybe she is higher... maybe lower... who knows? but no way is she of the same class as Raiza.  They discuss Maria's relationship with the emir. Raiza thinks that Maria is using that as a means of sabotaging Carola. Maria assures her that she is there to represent the best interests of don Alejandro.

"And your own," Raiza adds.

Maria doesn't deny that. Raiza has a proposal.

Back at the mansion, a weak looking Alejandro announces to Tobias that Maricruz is coming home at his request and he's not gonna let her go back. Tobias points out that she has represented him well but don Ale wants her home and really doesn't care about the casino and would just as soon sell it to Carola or maybe some other bidder. He thinks that Maricruz is close to giving birth and he'd like that to happen there at the mansion and since he considers her his daughter it'll be a grandson for him before he dies. He clutches his chest... time for his pills which Tobias fetches for him.

Raiza tells Maria that she can do better by dumping don Alejandro and joining up with her and Carola. Maria rejects this telling Raiza that her interests are the same as don Alejandro's since, as she has already told Carola, she is his daughter. Raiza is dubious but Maria promises to  soon have proof as well as a power of attorney. So put that in your pipe and smoke it, blondie. She's on her way to Mexico for a few days to meet with daddy to accomplish just that. Raiza tells her that no way can she go,

"You can't leave. You can't leave Isla Dorada, and you're not going to leave Isla Dorada."
I have No Idea What I'm Looking For
Off in the boonies, José Antonio, stylishly clad in jeans, wifebeater, beat up hat, and with a silver carrot dangling from his neck, pokes around the ashes of Maricruz's former home. Santa joins him. He tells her that he's looking for evidence for the inspector but hasn't found anything. He apparently told her that Simona asked for the investigation but doesn't want her to mention it to anyone. Santa thinks it odd that Simona would have turned on Lucia since they are old friends. ( Well it happens when one friend tells the other friend that she is ugly.) She thinks the inspector should concentrate on squeezing the truth out of Eusebio.

Maria thought that Raiza and Carola wanted her gone. Yes well, Karim, however, he just wants her and is threatening to buy the lease on the boat and shut down the casino if Maria doesn't return to him.

"I've never been with him," she protests.

Poor Raiza doesn't understand why Maria doesn't take advantage of the emir's infatuation with her. She could have anything she wants.

And the emir is frustrated. It's become a matter of pride with him now,

"These are things that give flavor to my boring life. I have everything, but I want that which I'm denied, whether it be a dog, a horse, a jewel, or a woman."

I'm sure Maricruz would love being included in this group he's lumped her in with.

"I want her and I'll have her, Mohamed, I assure you that I'll have her."

Maria tells Raiza that she will not take advantage of Karim. She and Raiza speak different languages. Raiza tells her not to play the saint.

"No, no, no, I can also be like you, a demon, but from a different Hell."

Pardon me while I take a moment to praise the writers for such a nifty line in such an inane conversation.

She reassures her that she will not do anything that would hurt the casino.

Araceli and Teo are talking. She's in love with Eduardo but doesn't know his last name or much else about him like is he married? Does he have kids? Well, not to worry, Teo will find those things out for her. Good grief... Next!

Raiza has decided to join la Mendoza on her flight to Mexico. She tells Carola and also informs her that she insists that she's don Alejandro's daughter and will prove it. Also she is not interested in Karim or his money. She's in a hurry to catch a plane... gotta run.

Maria leaves a pretty orchid in a gilded glass cage and drags her enchanted piece of luggage out the door. We're all going on a plane ride.
Who's Your Daddy?
A tender moment (didn't we just leave these two?) between Araceli and Teo. He reaffirms that he has her best interests at heart and reminds her that love is blind. Thanks for that, Teo... now... NEXT!

Her cab stops by a mailbox as Maricruz or Maria A (I can't tell which) drops off a letter. Make a note, this might be important later.

Passengers are arriving at the air terminal. Is anyone surprised that Octavio is on this plane? He bumps into Raiza who is delighted that they'll be flying together. He...ummm... not so much.

A cab approaches the terminal, it looks familar and the piano announces that it's Her Highness Maricruz.

Raiza boards the plane and we see that both Eddy and Octavio are passengers in first class but are in separate aisles. The window seat next to Octavio is empty. Any guesses who might be assigned to that seat? She talks to both boys and makes a half-hearted attempt to hit on Octavio giving him her card. She tells him to expect a surprise but is not sure if he'll think its good or bad. "Get in touch." "Sure." She heads to the back of the plane with the rest of the peasants. No first class for you, Raiza.

Teo meets with Carola. Yawn. She tells him that la Mendoza is gone for now.
I Wanted That Window Seat

On the plane Octavio wants to know what the hold up is. The cute flight attendant, Jacky tells him that they are awaiting one more passenger... and here she is now. For those of you who didn't figure it out, Maria A will be sitting next to Octavio. They exchange pleasantries and from the looks of things, it's gonna be a long flight.

Teo and Carola also exchange pleasantries... well... actually taunts. He is certain that Maria is returning with the power she seeks.

The plane has landed and Maricruz strolls confidently through the terminal in DF. Outside, Raiza reminds Octavio to call her. Sure.

Eddy offers Octavio a ride but he has other plans. Eddy goes right before Maria walks up. Octavio plans to take her into the city. He's going to hail  a taxi. She asks if he has a car. Nopis, he's living frugally to save his money so he can do right by Maricruz. This seems to affect her... mildly...

Meanwhile, the emir, Karim, is fit to be tied. He will not be made fun of no matter how western these women are... his rant is interrupted when Mohamed hands him a letter from la Señorita Mendoza.

Octavio, Octavio, Octavio. You were doing so well.

But now he's telling her that he doubt he'll never see Maricruz again,

"Now it's you who interests me. You are much more classy than she was."

Did you really have to say that?

The taxi pulls up, he deposits her bag in the trunk and opens the door for her. She gets in, shuts the door and as he goes for his back she tells the driver to go on,

"He's not with me."

More Carola and Teo. She taunts him saying that he's competeing with the emir for la Mendoza's affection. He tells her that he knows some things. She's in for a big surprise. He leaves and she makes her Carola face.

From her room Solita and Monito see Maricruz arrive and run to greet her. Downstairs Tobias welcomes Maricruz home and Solita rushes in with hugs.
Better'n E-Mail
Back in Isla Dorada the emir is reading aloud Señorita Mendoza's enchanted letter. (If you think that her walkinginhighheels teacher was good... well wait'll you get a load of her penmanship skills.)

"An unavoidable family obligation forces me to leave Isla Dorada for a few days..."

Then amazingly we hear Maricruz's voice continue as her face mysteriously emerges from the ink and paper,

I hope that it's not much of a bother for you to wait for me, but if not and Your Highness should decide to return to your country, I dare to ask you that consider the casino on the boat as something very important to me. With this I ask you not to do anything to shut it down. It is the main asset of a woman who will soon remain completely orphaned.

Karim finishes reading the letter himself,

"I hope you understand and I'm hoping that you will wait for my return.
Maria Alejandra."

He wonders what it all means. Could she be the orphan?

Sweet Monkey Love

Maricruz, Solita, Tobias and Monito catch up on what's been happening including Solita's illness. The pregnancies are compared and shared and then Monito assaults the girls as they hug... much mirth ensues. Tobias beams.

The flyboys are home and Octavio whines to Eddy about the way Maria A left him holding his suitcase on the airport sidewalk. The worst of is, now he won't know where she is staying in Mexico City. Eddy counsels that maybe it's for the best, she is way out of his league. Doesn't matter to Octavio,.. Maria Alejandra is the new love of his life.

Maricruz asks Tobias why her dad isn't there to greet her. He tells her that don Ale's condition is ver delicate and the Dr. wants him to stay abed and what's more, he's ready to give up and sell the casino and refuses to consider giving the power to Maricruz that she needs to negotiate.

Karim is beside himself. All he can do now is wait for her to return. He laments that this woman has worked her way into his blood, his senses. Hell wait but he has no intention of losing.

Tobias tells Maricuz that don A will only turn over such power to his daughter and right now it's just too dangerous to his health to reveal to him that she is that daughter. Maricruz takes a moment to complain that don A must not trust her and shouldn't be treating her this way because he has responsibility for abandoning her in the first place, in a way, he is responsible for all the bad things that have happened to her. Say what? She's going upstairs and confront him right now. Tobias is worried and wrings his hands as Maricruz heads upstairs.
How Did This Come Out Of That?

Hurrah, we're back at the ranch and Miguel is cuddling his son. Lucia, who has made an unfortunate choice of lipsticks this morning, is beaming until they begin talking. He's very chilly and curt with her. He stalks off leaving Lucia to ruminate that he suspects her. She regrets in retrospect that she didn't include him as an accomplice. If she had, he would have the same blame for things as she has. Uh oh, it looks as though an evil light has just switched on in that twisted brain,

"My acomplice!"
Don't He Look Natural?
Don Alejandro is sleeping as Maricruz kneels at his bedside and gently awakens him. He very happy to see her,

"Maricruz! Maricruz!"

She hugs him and lies,

"You're looking better don Alex. Yes, you even have more color."

Yes, and an oxygen mask over his face...

"I don't know how I can look better, this diet with no salt, no calories, has left me very weak."

I think there may be something to what he just said. Has his sodium been checked lately? Sometimes the Dr. doesn't always know best.

She tells him that she's returned because he ordered her back.

"And here you'll remain, it's better that you don't go back."

They gently quarrel. He tells her that it'd be best that he sell that casino and the others too. She disagrees and asks right out for his power of attorney so she can represent him properly against Carola.

"I'd be a like fight between a gazelle and a lion," he warns.

"No sir, between a serpent and an eagle," she counters.

He tells her that there's nothing she can do, he's resigned himself to losing. She pulls out a trump card,

"Maybe you haven't thought about your daughter."

The flyboys are drinking coffee... perhaps a little too much since they are both speaking very fast and loud... sort of like hoarse chipmunks. Eddy suggests that probably Maria A is being kept by that rich emir. Octavio rejects that. Eddy wonders why Octavio is attracted to women who treat him badly. He reminds him that the savage, Maricruz shot him, and now this one likely has a dagger hidden, waiting for him. Octavio has a zinger for Eddy,

"Always better that I'm wounded at the hands of a woman and not those of a guy like Teobaldo." Wisely he exits while he's ahead,

"When you leave, lock the door."

Maricruz continues to press her case for power of attorney. Finally Don Ale tells her that it just ain't gonna happen. She asks why and he tells her,

"Don't you see, it would be like forsaking my daughter, please try to understand."

What she understands is that he doesn't have the least bit of confidence in her.

Back at the ranch, Miguel is greeted by Ofelia who tells him that Lucia is in her room pouting because Miguel has been very stern and cool with her.

When he enters the bedroom Lucia is standing over the crib adoring her offspring. He tells her that he was just at the bank and things are looking up financially. She is happy that he is happy because he has been so distant lately. He suggests that they forget the past and start afresh. He's going to buy out his brother. He admits that he didn't want to accept the fact that she was right,

"...that girl caused you much suffering. Who could have imagined that she would even turn out to be a thief?"

Lucia giggles... she is almost giddy.

"What are you laughing about?" he asks apprehensively.

CSI agent José Antonio reports in with Inspector Suarez. He's found nothing but tells him that both he and Santa believe that he might learn the truth by squeezing Eusebio.

Speaking of truth, let's rejoin the happy couple, Lucia and Miguel,

"Lucía, Lucía, what's happening, what's happening?"

I think he's padding his lines with that unnecessary repetition... or maybe he's just nervous about what is about to be revealed.

"Well, are you OK with how things all ended up with Maricruz?"

"Well, they say the devil blinds those he wants to lose and he blinded Maricruz so that she would steal from you."

"No my love, no... sit down."
Yes, I'm BSC
"Sí."

"That's not how things were."

"What? What do you mean?"

"That I did it all, Miguel. I planned it all in order to rid us of Maricruz."

Can you say C R A Z Y?

One front closed, Miguel finally knows his wife is bat shit crazy. Thanks for the excellent recap Carlos!

Carlos, I love this recap. With your comments, the inserted dialog, just brilliant! I only half watched, and frankly, this was much better!!

Yeah, Lucia sure took a trip to Looneyville last night. Her glee in admitting, which frankly had me surprised, that she set up MC, was chilling. Miguel is oh so screwed now. Wonder how far she goes. Will she admit to the fire? She couldn't be that stupid, or maybe she thinks Miguel is that stupid. Oh wait, on that one she may be right.

For the love of all that is holy, will someone please tell Don A that MC is his daughter!! He's already giving up, ready to call in a permanent reservation at the Pearly Gates Hotel and they STILL won't tell him? C'mon!

So is MC planning to get the Caftan Man to buy the casino for her? I'm sure it would be so that Carola doesn't know MC is behind it....or even Don Ale? Hope she knows there may a few strings attached with that deal.

Daisynjay

Carlos, great recap as always. i am mesmerized by the ever mobile hump. It seems to be heading south now. Teo has two options, borrow a couple of MA's girdles or invest in plus size pantalones.

And I am curious about the letter MA posted. Is it the same one the Emir received? I noted that the envelope he was handed had only his name on it. Is he so well know on the island that he requires no street address. did the letter go to someone else or was it s slip up on the part of the production staff?

Love all the intrigue.

I was glad I could catch this episode last night. Carlos, thanks for the very entertaining recap. I especially enjoyed the screen shots and captions.

Wow, I never thought Lucía would go so far off the edge that she would actually admit her plot to Miguel with a certain amount of pride and enjoyment. It will be interesting to see the affect it has on their relationship.

I loved Maricruz giving Octavio the slip with the taxi

I wonder how the actresses REALLY felt about having the mooonkey crawl all over their heads and get tangled in their hair.

All in all a fun episode.

Jarifa

Carvivlie,

Thanks. Sad thing is... I think that Lucia is gorgeous... crazy?... yes, but gorgeous nonetheless.

Daisynjay,

Thanks.

"Wonder how far she goes. Will she admit to the fire? "

Well, she did start out with "I did it all!" As my mom used to say, I think she's going to "tell where all the hickory nuts are hidden".

emeraldrose,

Thanks, Im happy that you are enjoying this with us. I started to keep track of the wandering hump, but found it too distracting.

Jarifa,

Thanks, I'm glad that this TN is fun for you too. I thought that Maricruz looked slightly annoyed at the monkey in her hair.

Carlos

Excellent, excellent job Carlos!

Loved the screencaps!

I think Lucia will spill out the whole thing gleefully. Miguel finally finds out that his wife isnʼt just wacked out but seriously psychotic.
Will he come up to a better self and feel remorse about all that happened?

MA's outfits wins over Raiza's hands down. Somebody already mentioned it before but one of the best things in this TN is MA's wardrobe.

Loved the taxi scene, Oct - MA 0-1 again, does anyone keeps score?

@Jarifa - I don't know about the actresses but I wouldn't like a monkey crawling all over me for sure

Great recap Carlos, too bad the TN isn't.

Isn't Aracely a little late in wondering if Ed is married with children? She should have done that at the very least before going to DF.

Such convincing plots, the writers are high again. Ob & Ed are sitting on different rows, just so MC/MA can sit next to Ob. Good grief.

Funny scene with MA leaving in the taxi with Ob holding the bag.

Just when does Tobias think MA should tell Ale she is his daughter? More estupidez.

Carlos...I always love your recaps. The caption to they onto of Ed combing his greasy hair..."kooky, Kooky, lend me your comb."....perfecto. I never missed "77 sunset strip." Ed..Kooky..Burns. ..it even became a song.

I've heard of a monkey on your back, but a monkey in your hair...ewwww. You know that I am not a fan of that little simian...bleeeccchhh. Solitav is a saint to let him crawl all over her. Ana B. does not seem too happy with it.

Sorry.."they onto" was supposed to be "the photo". Sometimes this Ipad has a mind of its own regarding spelling.

Thank you Carlos for your great recap---you had a lot of great lines in there, but three that stood out to me were---#1 They exchange pleasantries and from the looks of things it's going to be a long flight. Chuckle--She was not at all happy with her seat, the writers liked it though.---#2 Now it's you who interests me. You are much more classy than she was. OMG!! OUCH!!---#3 Lucia who has made an unfortunate choice of lipstick this morning. True.

Great recap Carlos, too bad the TN isn't.---I say, Great recap Carlos and I am enjoying this TN tremmendously. In fact, I don't want to miss even one minute of it.
I must say though that I am very concerned about Maricruz getting mixed up with krim in any way shape or form. Not even a business deal. I don't like ar trust this guy.

No one ever looks in the tall grass
or bushes around Mari's old home. I'm sure that EWW-sebio left the gas container near the house.

I wonder what secret Teo is holding?

The monkey---I wouldn't mind a monkey on me. Dogs climb on people, cats climb on people, they are animals, just as a monkey.

Now Miguel knows the truth about what Lucifer did and she is sooo proud of herself. I can't wait until that evil smile and that evil sparkle in her eyes [Carlos}
turnes into the look of terror--the same kind of terror that she put Maricruz through--you know pay back time, it has to come.

I vote for the power of attorney by
next episode---GO MARI!!! Or will it come after the baby is born?

What did the advances say?

irisz,

thanks.

"Will he come up to a better self and feel remorse about all that happened?"

I hope so, but I think that she will ensnare him in her web for a long unhappy ride.

Variopinta,

thanks.

"Isn't Aracely a little late in wondering if Ed is married with children?"

That scene made me smile. Poor Araceli, the hormones have mutinied and taken over her boat.

Susanlynn,

thanks, I was wondering if anyone would get the caption for Eddy's photo. I loved that show.

gringo,

thanks.

"I'm sure that EWW-sebio left the gas container near the house."

He probably did, but even if not, certainly the place still reeks of gasoline, the remains of that match could probably be found, and what about the rock pushed up against where the door once was?

Carlos

So I get why MC would need to quickly learn computers stuff and financing, but cursive writing? She couldn't just print?

That's great that Solita knows she's pregnant, but did Tobi explain childbirth to her too? Because she looks much further along than MC who only has about 8 weeks. (But then again, so do I and I'm not pregnant).

Kelly

Carlos- Your recap and pic captions had me giggling.

I hope Luciafer continues to spill the whole truth to Miguel. Let's see if his head explodes from the shock.

The police captain is having JA investigate the fire? Que! Can't he spare one of the members of the HUGE SWAT team he had arrest MC?

Does Tobi really think that Ale is going to magically get better? Has his doctor said anything about his condition being reversible? Seems this is a deteriorating situation and he and MC better quickly reveal the secret. Didn't MC task Tobi with checking with Ale's doctor about how to break the news to him? What happened with that?

All of this just seems a plot device to push MC to make an unwise decision to accept Karim's help in getting control of the casino, since Don Ale won't give power of attorney to a teenager he just met a few months ago (fancy that!).

Kelly- Solita doesn't have the benefit of flowy chiffon dresses designed to hide pregnancies. MC would probably look just as big if she were wearing a simply sundress like Solita was.

I had a giggle at the envelope that simply had the emir's name on it. But depending on how small the island is, that might have been enough (except I saw no postage marks on it either). When I lived in Haiti, all people in the States had to write on the envelope was my name, the town I lived in, and Haiti, and it was delivered to the door of my house.

Carlos--I knew it was one of your obras right at the first sentence--"As Maricruz packs her magic suitcase...." Yes, I got the Kooky reference--that makes me o.l.d., no?

Did you ever write for the society pages before you got into doctoring? "...Maricruz wins the fashion face off with a stylish breezy short lavender chiffon confection." I loved the chiffon confection part best. Maybe you were the food editor for your local weekly?

As for our pilot bromance. Carlos, if you are tired of counting the hump-shifts, here's something to consider: Eddie and Octie both are dressed almost alike whenever they are together. OK, setting the uniforms and the tuxedos aside as given, when one of them wears kakhi bermudas, the other one does, when one wears a long-sleeved blue shirt and long pants, the other one does, when one wears blue jeans to the ballet, the other one does, too. Hmmm.

I never thought Lucia would confess to Miguel that she did it all. How devious she is. No, don't continue to insist on her innocence, but make him equally guilty. AND SMILE while you are saying it! You are so proud of yourself. Does she really think this info will erase his doubts--Au contraire, it only confirms it. I hope he gets that bebe away from her and to a safe place soon.

So, MC/MA is going to name her bebe Octavio. Why? She hates the big one with a passion and is out to humiliate and destroy him, why create a negative atmosphere where it's uncalled for. It would have been more interesting, if a boy, to name him Mario Alejandro or something like that.

I also had a big laugh at Ara not even knowing Ed's last name! Didn't he pilot the flight she took to DF? And don't they announce the pilots' names?

If it's a boy, she should name him Cruz.

Vivi--They do announce pilots names, but maybe not co-pilots? In any case, *we* didn't hear them announce it, so it's the same as Arecely not knowing it.

I think that if the bebe is a boy ( and I'll bet it is)' Mari should name him after her Abuelo or her father...not after O ..and the monkey.

Or she could screw with everyone's head and name it Karim. :)

Kelly

A very, very funny recap, Carlos! The photos and captions were special all by themselves. I'm old enough to remember 77 Sunset Strip, but the one of Don Ale is what really cracked me up. I think you've overhead funeral visitation comments from too many Texas women.

This line from MariAle was worth watching some of the sappier stuff:
I can also be like you, a demon, but from a different Hell." MariA has to work hard, thinking on her feet. I'm glad she gets to have a little vacation at home, even with the monkey in her hair.

Octavio being snookered on the sidewalk at the airport--also very funny. Maybe Lucia's bad lipstick choice is evidence of her BSC mental condition.

Forgot to add that MA was pretty smart to write that note to Karim and cover her bases with him. Without that, he could have done something really inconvenient.

Great recap, Carlos.

I also loved all your screencaps and funny captions for them.

As you know, I love quoting dialogue from C.I., so I especially appreciated you doing it. I also loved when MariAle uttered the line: "It's not my fault that I shine in a trash dump."

Today Saturday, there was a terrible airplane hard/crash landing at San Francisco Airport. News said that the plane lost it's tail and came in hard. A big fire right after touchdown. Two dead, several badly burned, one missing. I am in no way trying to make light
of this terrible situation, it was on the news most of the day today. However as I was listening to the news updates, I couldn't help but think about Ed And Oblivio. The thought that kept going through my mind was--OMG! get those guys out of the plane.
the gringo

Anita, I think, that I missed something. When did MA say, that she will name her baby boy Octavio?
Alegria

Carlos, thank you for a brilliant recap. The screen caps and captions were just hilarious!

I particularly enjoyed I'm sure Maricruz would love being included in this group he's lumped her in with. and the lipstick quip.

(I haven't seen the episode...is it the bubblegum pink lipstick? It's the exact same shade as Alma's nail polish. I abhor bubblegum pink.)

Can't wait to actually watch the episode, but I think I will not enjoy it half as much as I enjoyed your recap.

Thank you Carlos for an excellent recap. The pictures were icing on the cake. I laughed when I saw "Kooky, Kooky, Lend Me Your Comb"---the perfect caption!

Thanks for the "No, no, no, I can also be like you, a demon, but from a different Hell." translation. I had actually backed up 3 times to try and get what MC/MA was saying but it didn't quite penetrate my brain. MC has become a little more philosophic than I realized.

LatinaInMD, "It's not my fault that I shine in a trash dump." Yes, this was a good line too!

"Araceli doesn't know Eduardo's last name" Good grief is right!!!

I think we may have seen the beginning of a dark turn that MC has taken with this latest chapter. MC's amazing self-confidence has at times made me shake my head but for the most part has been amusing and even satisfying given her earlier circumstances.

But MC is putting her need to prove embezzlement above those she cares for and care for her. She has turned it into a test of her power, which I was OK with, but now she has also turned it into a ridiculous test of Don Ale's trust and care for her as well. She doesn't see the sick and dying man before her. Don Ale cares little for the casino and wants her with him at home (as does Solita). MC is obsessed with proving the casino fraud. I'm afraid Don Ale's death may not "go well" and MC may precipitate "the big one". I hope not.

The BIGGEST reason I felt MC may be taking a turn to the dark side?
Carlos nailed it when he wrote " I thought that Maricruz looked slightly annoyed at the monkey in her hair."

Barbara

Kelly,

"...but cursive writing?"

I'm no longer amazed at anything that Maricruz has learned to do in such a short time. I think the amount of knowledge she has accumulated is even more unbelievable. She even seems to know a lot about Arab customs and mores.

Vivi,

thanks. Making you giggle is always one of my goals.

"The police captain is having JA investigate the fire?"

I think that JA is probably scratching his head as much as we are over that. Maybe Maricruz has acquired skills in arson investigation and will sort it all out when she returns.

Anita,

thanks. I rather like the idea of being a food editor.

"I never thought Lucia would confess to Miguel that she did it all."

That was a shock to me. Poor Miguel appears to have decided to do the best he can to put the past behind and move on and now she has decided to assault him with the truth. He already suspects but he really doesn't want to know.

Paloma,

thanks.

"I think you've overhead funeral visitation comments from too many Texas women."

Guilty as charged. My favorite funeral quote came from my Uncle Bob (who was also a physician) at my dad's funeral. He and my dad were very close as brothers. I greeted him when he came in and asked, "How are you doin"?" He glanced over at the open coffin and said, "Well, a whole lot better'n your daddy."

LatinaInMD,

thanks. I also like how you liberally use quotes from the dialogue in your recaps. Thanks for adding that Maricruz quote. There was also a cute moment with Solita utilizing gestures to express herself. Clearly she was going to take Monito to feed him. She picked him up and then gestured by pointing to him and then to her mouth. I thought that could also be translated as I'm going to go eat the monkey.

As for my vote for the baby's name, even though I was not his greatest fan, I'll go with Ramiro.

Carlos

Carlos:

A fun time as had by all.....the captions and the screen caps were especially hilarious. And thanks for the trip down Memory Lane...or rather Sunset Strip. I indulged the urge to hit up YouTube for a visual and Susanlynn & Paloma will probably get as much a kick out of this as I did. (It even brought hubby out of his mancave!)

Alegria,

I didn't know that Maricruz has even considered any name for her child. As I said, I think that it should be Ramiro.

Sara,

thanks. I was very disappointed in Lucia's choice of lipstick until I saw toward the end of the episode how well it goes with her lunacy.

Barbara,

thanks. I think the photos and the captions are both the most fun and the most difficult. As I do the recap I think about which photos I want to use. I go back and collect the pictures and add the captions after the recap is complete.

When Alborada recently replayed, Paula set up a daily blog for each episode using Melinama's original postings as a foundation. She recruited me to select and collect a single (sometimes two) illustration for each. Later on she solicited recommendations for captions for those pictures from the commenters. It was a lot of fun and often with hilarious results.

By the way, I'm still waiting for Lucia to get that pair of Corgis.

Jardinera,

thanks. I know that you were very busy with you recap of QBA. Thanks for that link. I think that Kooky, although his part was initially quite small, played a large role in the popularity of that show. At the time, I thought he had the perfect job.

Carlos

Carlos---Eduardo as Ed "Kookie" Byrnes from 77 Sunset Strip was hilarious.

Marycruz is going to name her son Octavio? What?

I don't know what is wrong with the robot thing. You type in what you think it is and then you are told that it's wrong, try again, so you try again and then you get a double post. Computers?
the gringo

Alegria--Are you really asking me to go back and review all the recent episodes? Ack.

My memory dims, but I'm sure she was either talking to herself or with Solita in the room, or to Tobias in an episode not too far in the distant past.

It made me sit up straight when I heard her say that--Octavio, like his daddy. This was when she was already into the vengeance, make him pay for abandoning me mode, but more into all the Narvaez family, not just him by himself. I'm sure it was before their "patio" talk.

Thanks, Carlos, for the great recap.

About the monkey: In the USA Weekend supplement to my Sunday newspaper, there's an article about capuchin monkeys being trained as service animals for people who are paralyzed. The monkeys can do things like bring a glass of water and put a straw in it, turn on a light switch, load DVDs and CDs, scratch a nose, and turn the pages of book.

It didn't say in the article so I checked the Monkey College website to find an answer to an important question. Yes, monkeys can be potty-trained!

So how is Maricruz going to explain to her son that he wasn't really named after a monkey!

Anita, I'm surprised, because I watched those episodes not even once.
may be someone else remember this talk and can help us.
Alegria

...until I saw ...how well it goes with her lunacy.

So true. I will not be so harsh to judge make-up choices any more. Clearly the maquillaje crew knew what they were doing.

I have never seen the actress who plays Lucia in anything before, but I must say she does a heck of a job playing the selfish, totally evil, over the edge nutcase.
Her makeup cranks up the evilness even more.

I hate her something fierce.

Aleta,

thanks. You piqued my interest when you mentioned Monkey College so I checked out their website and sure enough... The whole concept creates so many images for me.

They mention that it can take a monkey anywhere from three to five years to finish the program. Just like human college they must have dedicated students as well as slackers.

"When they graduate they can accomplish many tasks"

It conjures up a picture of a bunch of little Monktavios in tiny caps and gowns lined up to receive their diplomas. Homecoming on campus must be a blast. I wonder if little Monito is an alum?

Irisz, we all enjoyed Lucia as Ximena, one of three sisters, in FELS a TN masterpiece.

Carlos

Carlos: I love reading your recaps and comments. Your intelligence and wit always shines through. BTW, that pink lipstick Lucia had on WAS hideous
Gringo: I always recognize your posts before I see your name due to your sheer enthusiasm for this novella. I sometimes feel like I'm one of the few really enjoying this novella. I have to admit it's one of my guilty pleasures, revenge stories are my favorite. Ana Brenda is doing a great job(she's so talented and beautiful). My other favorite Mexican actress is Silvia Navarro, I loved her in Montecristo.

Victoria- I think most here are enjoying this tn. The kind of light teasing an poking fun we're doing here is normal. And a dumb galan does not break a tn. If that were the case, we'd hate most of them. :) For a taste of a tn that's really annoying its viewers at the moment, check out the QBA comments.

ITA with you on Silvia N. and Ana Brenda C.

Vivi: I know what you mean by QBA. My absolute favorite alltime novella is La Hija Del Mariachi. It is perfection. When QBA first came on, I tried to watch it. How bad could it be? What they have done to that classic is a sacrilege. Now I know how Corazon Salvage fanatics feel. I can't even bring myself to read the blog and comments on that one. At first I was going to comment on it, but there were so many negative comments I didn't want to pile on and ruin peoples' enjoyment of it. So I just stay away.

Fear not, Victoria L! I, too, am really enjoying this one. Vivi is right-- at Caray snark=love.

I am not keeping up with QBA, but it makes great makes background noise. The music is nice.

Carlos, loved the screencaps and captions!! My favorite: "How did this come out of that?" Thanks for the great recap and hilarious pics/captions!

I'm in and out of this one, but could someone remind me why Ester left? I seem to remember she was starting to get a little freaked out by Lucia's extreme measures.

Oh, I miss Jose Antonio. Loved the "I have no idea what I'm looking for" caption <3.

jardinera and Carlos...thanks for the clip of Kooky Burns, Connie Stevens , and Dick Clark on American Bandstand. That was a sweet trip down Memory Lane.

Maybe Mari should send Oblivio to Monkey college.570

What I love about Caray is that you can feel free to express yourself without being attacked or insulted. That is not the case on some other sites. I almost quit watching CI during the first 20 episodes because there was too much relentless suffering, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It's so much better now. I confess I've peaked at future episodes and it gets even better.

I meant to say "peeked" and not "peaked". Sorry.

Amy, you are absolutely correct. Ester found out about the fire and was so freaked out that she left.

first screen cap...Looks like they are doing the hokey pokey.

I'm wondering where these people are. Weren't they going to Mexico City? Then why did they fly to the Toluca airport? Wouldn't a cab from Toluca to Mexico be a bit pricy?

Thanks for the recap Carlos. Your observations and wit continue to tickle. I found your insight on Lucia's lipstick and madness quite amusing.

Victoria - ITA about the blog and having to "monitor" the earlier episodes because they were quite painful with MC being abused by almost everyone.

Aleta - thanks for the info on monkey college. I never knew such things existed.

AnotherAmy/Sue- Did Esther even know about the fire? I thought it was Lucia falsely accusing MC of stealing the necklace and having the girl thrown in jail that disturbed Esther. Did she even know about how MC got it (the teeth in the mud puddle thing) and the arson/murder? She may have gotten out of there just in time, but I hope she feels guilty when she finds out about Ramiro.

Kelly

Esther knows everything. Ramiro's death was enough reason to go away. She asked Lucia if it was part of her plan and Lucia said nothing. Esther understood everything right and run away.
Alegria

Good morning everyone, I hope that you all had a marvelous weekend.

Victoria L,

Thanks and welcome. Yes, Lucia did not choose her lipstick wisely, but then all of her decisions lately have been ill-advised. I also noticed that for the first time that I can recall she was wearing a rather drab dress.

Another Amy,

Thanks. I'm glad that José Antonio put in an appearance for you. He looked so lonely and baffled poking around in those ashes. I wonder how the new worldly-wise Maricruz will view him now?

Sue,

Thanks for helping out with the information about Ester's departure. I also remember that the fire seemed to be the last straw for her.

Molly,

I thought that they were flying to and from Mexico City, but the airport sure didn't look very busy, did it?

Karen,

Thanks. It's so great to hear from an old friend. I'm so glad that I can still amuse you.

Carlos

Molly and Carlos. Check out this info on the city of Toluca: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toluca

As you can see, Toluca is only 40 miles from the western edge of Mexico City. The capital is so huge that, depending on where in the city you plan to go, it may make more sense to fly into Toluca airport than to fly into the capital's airport. I know because I've flown into Toluca airport myself. Plus it helps that Toluca airport is a lot less busy than the capital's airport.

It's like flying into BWI (Baltimore) instead of Dulles (VA) or Reagan National (DC/NoVA). Makes sense to me.

LatinaInMD,

thanks for that information, that helps a lot. I thinks we just recently watched a TN that made a very big deal about the airport in Toluca.

Carlos

Carlos:

Dear Sir, thanks so much for this marvelous, witty recap! I especially enjoyed your screencaps, especially the one of Ed combing his hair, lol.

I agree with everyone about Lucifera. She is soooo evil.

I am liking this tap dance that MA and Tav are doing. Will he ever figure it out? Will she get her revenge? But especially will she ever tell Don A that she IS his daughter? I wish he had mentioned that call from Carola. All he had to say was why are you passing yourself off as my daughter? Simple question, simple answer. Ah, well. Hopefully Tobias' tongue does some slipping and finally, Don A will know. Or I wish he would look in that box. I don't want him to not know!

Madelaine,

Thanks. Isn't Eduardo a hoot? He is so vain and so cocksure of himself and yet he is such a dork. He gets Areceli to Mexico City and then ends up driving her around all night? That was such a sure thing and yet he managed to blow it and shut the door to any future prospects with the flight attendant to boot. Rodolfo (AB) had more finesse than this klutz.

Carlos

No conclusion's yet but it's looking more and more like the cause of the plane crash at San Francisco Int'l Airport was because of pilot error. And we still have one brain cell Oblivio
in the cockpit flying the plane. Get him out of there and back in
Tamaulipas, preferably in a beautiful country home with Maricruz near where Maricruz grew up.

Can't wait till tonight, I counting the hours. Will Mari get that power of attorny?

A Mari/Raiza showdown---go Mari!!!
Be careful for little Octavio.
the gringo

attorney---sorry guys. My one finger typing gets going faster than my brain sometimes.
the gringo

Carlos,
I just finished watching the episode and your recap was far more entertaining; however, seeing Luciafer's lunatic confession played out on the screen was chilling. The lipstick just upped the creep factor even more.

Sara, it sounds like you saw Lucia and that lipstick exactly as I did.

Carlos

gringo, I join you in anticipating tonight's show. My Spanish teacher is Cuban. she said what helped her learn English when moving to the U.S. is watching the soaps. She would sit with a pad and pen and try to jot down words she didn't know, then look them up in her dictionary when the show was over. When she realized that she was scheduling her life around being home to catch the latest episode of "her" soap she realized she was hooked. We all had an uproarious laugh when she told the story. I too am coming to that realization. But, i will keep on watching and joining everyone for the recaps.

Emeraldrose- That's what dvrs are for. :)

Carlos said
"He gets Areceli to Mexico City and then ends up driving her around all night? "
At that time she should have said, BTW what is your last name, & not that it really matters, are you married?

Vario--You're right. They had a long few hours to chat. Is all she said was, "No I can't let you sleep in a hotel room with me because I'm a decent girl and I can't stay in one alone because being alone in a hotel room in DF scares me.....QTH???
