PEAM #83- 7/3/13: These Are The Little Mornings That King David Used To Sing!

Recap By Pablo

34 years ago, in a place at north of México, a little girl was born. She had hair blonder than corn and her parents named her Alma (Soul in spanish). Could it be because her hair got blonder as she aged? Probably not. Her mother had the same name, juárever. Today, on January 5th, her husband threw her a surprise party and all Avon was invited...  will everybody attend? Patricia, her best friend and husband's lover, mad because Rogelio upset her, left early this morning and didn't come. Instead, she spent all afternoon either planning to commit suicide and/or trying to send an email... maybe she can do both...

Rogelio, who almost got circumcised in Acapulco, threw the house out of the window with a party that included cabrito al pastor, fajita, asado de puerco, grilled zucchini and onions, jalapeño peppers, soft drinks and beer. When Fernando, who almost fell in love during jail time, thinks all this is for him, runs to happily hug Rogue, but soon he finds out it is not. It is because of Alma.

Alma, who almost lost her ''other virginity'' in Toluca, is more surprised to see nobody working when she left, than seeing them clapping when she arrives to Rogelio's mansion. Palomo group plays the Diana and the ''mañanitas norteñas'' and she blushes as she walks by Jesús side. Jesús, who almost lost his gold medal to more experienced secretaries, spends the whole time making all kind of faces. I know I should have counted them, but I only have 10 fingers!

Patricia, who finally dumped Rogelio in a moment of sanity, drinks, tries to send Alma the compromising video she took the night Jéssica was quenching Rogelio's fire with her whip as  proof of Rogue's  cheating, drinks some more and has some doubts, writes a letter so we know she is left-handed, then drinks some more and makes us believe she will be part of the statistics with suicide attempt # 3. Where is a tall building when you need it?

The party is amusing, not for everybody, because while Gilberto tells Ivonne silly jokes and Susana chats with Jesús about banalities and trivial things, Alma tries to find a way to tell Rogelio the ugly truth... she doesn't love him!

She could have gotten a plastic bracelet, a hell of a party with live music, but the freedom you get when you tell the truth and the new attitude you get with it is priceless, so she gives herself the gift that lasts a lifetime, freedom!!

Alma finally confesses to Rogelio the mistake she made marrying him and his world falls down on him killing him on the inside.

Oblivious to the pain the main couple are suffering inside the house, the guests dance, eat and clap every time the band sings a song. Between songs, when she can hear better, Susana tries to extract some truth from Jesús, but he is as silent as a tomb. His lips are sealed.
Marisela, whose fake personna shrinks as time goes by, being asked by Ricardo, denies she eats, at least not fatty tacos, but when she orders some for Sansón, the poor dog doesn't get anything, because she, enjoying them while nobody sees her, eats them almost without chewing them!!

Fernando keeps dancing with Jéssica, Gilberto keeps flirting with Ivonne, Xóchitl, more calm after she found out her mother is not going to die anytime soon, at least not by excess of makeup, dances with Julio, Ricardo dances alone, Susana doesn't dance because the gossip is good and Jesús is the master and knows everything from everybody (he is able to see even from the distance if someone is in trouble and I am sure he can read lips too!!).

Once Alma started telling Rogelio the reasons why she was leaving him, I had to FF because her hair color was bothering me, too bright or too coarse, too bleached, something made me skip all this because it was more of the same. Once you see someone crying you have seen them all... (VCR noises: prrrrrt! stop!)
-I don't love you!
-Go away! Get out of my house! This can not be happening to me!

Alma thinking: (I don't feel well...  need to get out of here!) and she forgets her ''pierce''

While Jesús is wondering why is Alma taking sooooo long inside with her husband (like this is his business), Alma leaves unnoticed and Julio tells Ricardo he is not sure Xóchitl has forgotten Jesús. This is like David and Goliath all over!! Thanks for the support!

In the privada, Verónica, who almost lost a finger washing clothes by hand and almost got a concusion trying to air dry it, rejects Ray, a little boy/girl who just showed up today as if by magic protecting little Valentina and calling her ''muñeca''.

This party is over and everybody has to go home sooner than immediately!!!

Rogelio snaps and comes outside to officially declare the party is over. He was not expecting this and for him, it is like the end of the world as we know it.
-Namesake, gimme a hint, tell me where is my loved Almita, tell me what's going on?
And the other Jesús, the one upstairs, probably likes not minding his own business too, because he makes downstairs Jesús turn his head and see the black pierce on a chair!! Thanks! That was the sign I was expecting, thanks namesake!!
That will be the perfect excuse to run to Alma and find out E V E R Y T H I N G she knows!!
Yeah right! Her new attitude doesn't take anymore BS and she faces both her father and Jesús without fear... nothing to see here and let's go to work because we have way too much to do in the office...

Sebastián, who almost showed remorse the other day, wants to butt in as always but Alma is tired and she ignores him. Good! Things are starting to fall into place. One down, some more to go!

Do you remember Patricia? Don't worry, she is still drinking and with her finger on the send button... how much longer can she keep it like that? If she doesn't kill herself, she could get carpal tunnel or arthritis-

Fernando tries to help Rogelio but he is just too  devastated to feel anything but pain. Not because his heart has been broken, but because his plans of having cute and tall children won't happen, no sire!! Well, unless Alma donates him some eggs to fertilize!
When Jéssica comes inside to see why  Fernando is taking too long, Rogelio asks them both to leave him alone and breaks the glass and the crystal ice bucket.

Chatita, who almost lost sponsorship to Lala Milk, prepares a snack for Ray while she mumbles something about a secret and then Verónica arrives, leaving Valentina, who will now have  somebody to play with. New phase, new characters!! Ray also loves to gossip, one day in the TN and he/she knows all there is to know about the ''rich and beautiful woman and her daughter''.

Gilberto wants Ivonne but he doesn't ask for the divorce because ''Petunia'' could kill him first. What she doesn't know, is that Chatita will be ringing her bell pretty soon trying to sell her beauty products. She could buy another rolling pin though, just in case, it is always better to have a spare...

Cynthia, Verónica's lawyer, and Astudillo, Elías lawyer, don't agree on anything they have worked on so they leave TOGETHER!! I was just expecting to see them behaving like they had something between each other while the Francos didn't know about it. In private they could be a couple and even have plans to make the most out of their cases, while in the courtroom they could pretend to fight with all they have...  wouldn't that be a good twist?

Patricia finally clicks on the send button and drinks what they want us to believe is poison...

Tomorrow:

Seems like Zorrilla will join Alma's club too, and truth will set them free!! OK, ok, so she is still alive, juárever!!

Thanks so much for this great recap, so funny!

Thanks for putting all the food at Rogue's party. The food always looks so good!

I liked how Patymelt made a list of pros and cons before sending that video to Alma. I thought Patymelt would send it without a thought, she really surprised me there. Now what will Alma do when she gets it? Hmmm...... If Hay-Sooos sees it first will he tell Alma?

Ray looks like a girl dressed as a boy. She is one tough little cookie but will be a good friend to Valentina I think.

Maricela is soooo fake. She so enjoys that fatty food! I was laughing at her scarfing down that food. She was like Elias there, except she didn't have as much as he did.

Poor Ferny is now stuck with his devastated bubby. Will he show him the light? Will Rogue even go there? I don't think he will, but will be ten times worse than he already is. I liked how Ferny greeted Hay-Soooos. They will be great friends I think.

Sebas is an idiot. I hope Alma sets him straight and tells him to quit trying to control her life. He treats Alma like she is ten years old. Time for him to get his own place!

Pablo, I loved your intro. It sounded like a fairy tale but of course we know better. Your VCR sounds were great. The whole recap made me laugh.

Well, it seems that not only Alma is not taking anything from anyone anymore but also Jesus. I liked how he told Sebastian off and then told Alma basically the same thing: to treat him with respect. How long have we waited for that?

All in all it was a good episode: the plot is on the move!

I haven't seen the whole episode yet but I love your recap, Pablo. Can't wait to see the rest. At last some plot movement.

Pablo- Loved the fairytale take on this episode.

Yay Alma! I was very proud of her for laying out the whole truth (well, except for being in love with Jesus, but that would have been too cruel) for Rogue. I just hope her new attitude doesn't include being a b!tch to everyone (like STUD).

Too bad the party was broken up early. That food looked delicious.

I'm not sure how I feel about adding a new kid into the mix. Ray seems like a nice kid, but I just don't know if I can stomach a kid-centered side story. I guess Val needs a playmate in the hood.

I also thought that the two divorce lawyers might be in a passionate relationship with each other. They were trying to play up how much they hate each other a bit too much. In any case, they certainly have history with each other.

Thanks! I wish I had a time machine to set it up five months in the future, so we were already recapping episodes after 179... Last night there was a time when I watched the clock and thought: WHAT?? is still 7:39 ??? God, times runs slow when you're bored... right?

A perfect Thursday treat as always Pablo. I always love your take on these characters. And Once you see someone crying you have seen them all... (VCR noises: prrrrrt! stop!) d this: " My son who is home for the weekend watched about a minute of Alma in that scene and said, "Not much of an actress is she?" Ouch.

For someone who supposedly is broke and just bailed out his brother too, have to give it to Rog, that was one nice party. (Sad that the only people to invite are your fellow co-workers, but juarever.)

So I agree, seems we are moving to part tres ( I count the Chicago stuff as part uno) with Alma admitting her mistake to Rog, a new friend for Val ( Ray is a girl I'm pretty sure) and Pati letting the proverbial cat out of the bag. 'Bout time the plot starts moving. (Loved how they actually showed the poor help actually having to clean up someone's temper tantrum. I've always loved the constant smashing of valuables the main baddies do and think...hey someone has to clean that up!)

As good as it was for Alma to lay it on the line ( and what were she and Pati dressed for? an impending snowstorm?), I wish she would just tell her sperm donor to take a hike. I hate hate hate the fact that poor Susanna is being teamed up with this cretin. At least Jesus is showing a spine now and telling it as it is. Maybe his time with Pancho was good for him.

Count me among those who thought the two lawyers actually have a thing going on. Little sparks were flying anyway. (And frankly, that may be more fun to watch than Elias and Vero arguing.)

Happy 4rth!!

Thank you, thank you, Pablo because I too ff parts since I was not recapping. Your recap was hilarious.
I am happy to see that Alma finally grew a pair because she was too sweet and accommodating.
It was nice to see an early anvil drop for Rogelio with more to come.
I am still laughing aloud at the prospect of Gil's wife buying a larger rolling pin from Chatita.

Pablo, thank you for giving me so many hearty laughs this morning. And bless you for describing and naming all that delicious food. I was heartbroken that Rogue stopped the party amidst all that dancing and chowing. What an aguafiestas he is!! Poor Fern, he got out of jail and was enjoying the party more than anyone and then it had to stop. I think he can give Julio a run for his money in the dancing department.

The lawyer scene was a hoot. I loved how Elias asked Vero "What just happened here?" I agree with those of you who think there MUST be something between those two lawyers. Heck, if this show is going to go on another 100 episodes we'll need some new plot lines. Such as Valentina's new boyfriend who I agree is most likely a girl in disguise. Looks like s/he will be able to teach Val some boxing techniques. Vero's gonna love that.

Thanks again Pablo. You rock!

Pablo, love the way you built this recap. So good!

I just read back through previous days' recaps and am surprised to see dissatisfaction with some of the Alma-Chucho "coming clean about their true feelings" scenes. I loved them! Found Alma so raw and authentic, even letting all the make-up roll off and looking all blotchy...and Chucho....what a man! So honorable in the whole matter. I kept the tapes of these programs and have watched them over a couple of times.

Loved it in this episode too when Chucho insisted Alma's lame father speak to him with respect! And she better too. Yay~ This is becoming one of my all-time favorites!

Dona Felipa, thanks for mentioning that Chucho demanded respect from Alma's Lame Father. I loved that scene. Seba kept trying to control the situation with his usual bluster and bad manners and Chucho would have none of it.

Maybe this episode is indicative of a shift of power? Rogue has had a terrible couple of days, getting fired, losing money, now getting dumped. Alma is finally standing up to her Lame Father. Fern, who was always in Rogue's shadow and making plays for attention seems to be in a better place than Rogue these days.
