Qué Bonito Amor #74 (Mex 110) Friday 7/26/13 A variety of baby-daddies have a variety of experiences
Hola everyone! I'm subbing for Jardinera this time. She'll return to her recapping duties as usual next week!
Amidst the tears and drama, some interesting stuff happened in this episode! Sorry it was longer than I anticipated. Some dense content was in this episode.
Here are some screencap previews to get us started:
An artfully-designed tri-screen shot, showing how miserable JAntos and Maria are. |
Look at the expressions on these three. (Especially Mirna's!) |
Caught in the rain. |
We start with JAntos going to the chapel to pray. (An aside, I keep on thinking they're playing Grieg in the background. Peer Gynt? It's something very familiar. And later, the choral music is Mozart's Requiem? Someone please confirm this, because I'm too lazy to check my recordings . . .)
Beside herself with grief, she wanders away from the hospital. |
Sad puppydog eyes: He has them. |
Gloria appears at Coloso's door. Rodrigo can't be located, which means Coloso's a crappy pappy and can't keep track of his own son. (So true, so true.) Meanwhile Rodri is with the nice guys who picked him up from the side of the road. They give him a PSA on not taking rides from strangers. It doesn't matter how normal or wholesome the people look. The nice guys advise Rodri to go talk with his dad.
Evil Elvira is putting on a big act for her parents, defending Mirna and saying she's her only friend. She doesn't want her fired. Evil Elvira threatens to leave when Concho refuses. Lourdes wonders why Evil Elvira defends Mirna so much. Mirna says, "I pay attention to her, unlike you two parents." Lourdes smacks Mirna across the face for that.
Maria still wandering around outside. It's stormy.
Gloria is ripping Coloso a new one. He's trying to say that Rodri just got into a snit. Gloria knows Rodri better than that, that's not his style. Crappy Pappy tries to say that Gloria just "spoils" Rodri. Gloria pops a cork. "How dare you say that, you douchebag!" and lists all the crap that Rodri's been through. Her ass-chewing seems to make a dent, because he energetically says they'll go search under every rock, but they'll find Rodri!
Reacting to Coloso's colossal dipshittery. |
He realizes he's pushed it too far. |
We're back with the big scene with Evil Elvira. Lourdes caves and says that Mirna can stay. Just as long as Evil Elvira promises not to do anything stupid. (Bad bet, you made a bad bet!)
Susanito is hearing his mom's sad story about how she got knocked up from Concho. She loved Concho, but that night he was drunk and horny. He promised her the sky and the stars. He pretended he didn't know her in the morning. She tried to tell him of the pregnancy, but he was such a douche to her when she tried, so she never did. She never told Susanito about the baby-daddy, because why bother? The old turd would never accept him. Well, Susanito has plans—he's going to confront Concho. His mom isn't in favor of that but doesn't stop him.
She tells the sad story of his conception. It's not exactly romantic. |
We return to the clinic where a full hysterical meltdown from Amalia is in progress. Drama drama drama. JAntos promises he'll find Maria as Justo tries to calm Amalia down.
Meanwhile, Maria is wandering all over town in the rain, including wandering into traffic, while JAntos gets wet while searching. She almost gets hit by a car as JAntos finally finds her, and no sooner has he scooped her up in his arms than some curious cops find them. He has to do some fast explaining as he picks her up and carries her away. After he leaves, one of the policemen muses that JAntos looks familiar, and he's pretty certain that he saw his picture at the station, and he was well-dressed in that picture. Uh oh . . .
Maria's switched from blaming JAntos for the loss of the baby to blaming herself. Poor JAntos can only reassure her that everything is going to be okay.
Trying to calm her down . . . |
Concho can't understand why Lourdes would first insist that he fire Mirna, then turn around and have her stay. Lourdes explains that her Spidey-Mommy-sense tells her that Evil Elvira is up to something with Mirna, and she's got to figure it out. Concho mocks her, but she replies, laugh all you want, but it's something serious, bet on it. Later, Lourdes warns Evil Elvira to watch herself, and reminds her that there are some paths you can't go back from.
More hysterics from Amalia. I don't know how Justo has the patience to deal with her.
Evil Elvira "threatens" Mirna and tells her not to count on anything. Mirna plays it cool. Meanwhile Susanito has arrived to confront daddy. He stumbles into Evil Elvira, she screams at the affront, but he doesn't give a crap, because, you know, she's really his sister. Ha! Wait until you find out, bruja!
Susanito barges in on Lourdes and Concho arguing about who sucks more as a parent. Concho has been listing his parental virtues: "Respectable and responsible." O RLY?
Susanito is chastised by Lourdes for forgetting his place, while Concho yells that they've got nothing to talk about, and Susanito's mom is a liar. Susanito says, my momma ain't no liar, and you are my father! IMPACTADOS for everyone.
Not what she was expecting to hear. |
A priceless moment. (Look at Mirna! LOL.) |
JAntos returns with Maria to the clinic, thus interrupting Amalia, who was working up to a really good fit of hysterics. As they settle Maria into bed, it's revealed that she's started to blame herself for the loss of the baby again. The doctor says that's a good sign. The doctor also thinks that Maria's bottomed out now and it can only go up from there. It's advised that someone stay by her side and be supportive.
Being supportive is his specialty. |
He turns to encounter . . . |
. . . EVIL! Pure evil! |
After Susanito leaves, the ladies start to shriek, but Concho kicks them all out. Lourdes gives him her best wounded look. Left all alone, Concho looks soooooo busted.
Fernando encounters a rattled Susanito. Susanito doesn't want to talk, but instead stumbles away and into Ana, who stumbles into Siete Mares, who then kisses Ana. (It's hard to describe.) Siete apologizes (he "couldn't help himself"). Ana looks kinda quiet and impactada at the kiss but just says see ya later. She approaches Fernando, says, "Whatcha looking at?" Leaving Siete Mares to face down Fernando. They look like they're going to knock antlers, but they don't.
The stealer of kisses. |
Jealousy, thy name is Fernando. |
Will they or won't they get into it? Apparently they won't. |
A long scene with both Paloma and Rodrigo remembering the good times. Flashbacks abound. Tears abound. They end up both smiling at the memories and apparently with some feeling of hope.
The Split Screen of Tears. |
After some fruitless searching, Gloria and Coloso are back at his place and she's continuing to rip him a new one. Rodri has been lounging around outside, hears her talking, and smacks his face up against the glass, yelling for her. Mother and Son take too much time crying to each other between the glass before she finally opens the darn door.
There's a perfectly good door. Why not use it? |
Susanito returns to his mom and tells her what happened with his own Crappy Pappy, Concho. He's going to demand a DNA test. He notes that Concho is the opposite of how he was raised, which was to be upstanding and forthright, treating women right, etc. Maybe forcing Concho to confront his own douchebaggery will teach him a thing or two.
The Crappy Pappy is lamenting his luck with Mirna, and is in denial. He's told that since he can be forced to take the DNA test, that Susanito might want his slice of the bar.
Concho has fired Susanito. Susanito tells his mom that perhaps he can get a job at Cruz del Olvido. While they're talking a woman comes by to tell Susanito that she saw Ira being pulled into a car by a nicely-dressed man. Impactado look from Susanito.
Back at the clinic. The doctor assures everyone that Maria won't be left alone to wander off anymore. Por favor, JAntos implores Amalia with his puppydog eyes to let him have his turn hovering over Maria's bed.
Give him a break, okay? |
One of the other mariachi singers teases Fernando mercilessly about being jealous. It's very funny to see. Fernando denies, denies, denies and gets pretty angry about it. "Jealousy is for idiots!" he cries. Well, you're an idiot, Fernando. We could have told you that a long time ago. The other mariachi singer thinks so too, and Fernando chases him out of the room. By himself, Fernando admits that he is an idiot after all.
Gloria is admonishing Rodri for running off like that. Coloso starts in too. Rodri tells Coloso that he's sick of him and he's a crappy pappy—only good to him when it suits him. Rodri doesn't want to see Coloso any more.
"Why did you run away?" "To distance myself from that douchebag over there." |
In the City of Angels, Orange Guiliano is by the train tracks, digging a hole with a shovel, and calling a cousin and telling him to fix the bank accounts because the police have seen cousin's name on a list. "I'm going to have to talk to the Godfather!" he says to himself as he digs. Meanwhile, Derecho and Curtis are trying to convince their superior that they need to go to Mexico and they won't be as incompetent this time. They think Concho's bar may be connected somehow to Santos. Their superior isn't so sure about another trip for Derecho/Curtis, in fact he may take over the case himself! Uh oh!
Fernando is ripping into Coloso for losing Rodri and for overlooking someone as gorgeous as Gloria. What is Coloso's malfunction? (We all would like to know!) As Fernando continues to nag Coloso, Lourdes comes in announcing a job for a bachelorette party. The customers want two lady killer hottie-type singers, and Fernando and Coloso fill the bill! As Fernando is leaving Coloso, he comments that he has three friends—one friend is a dipshit who has a kid he doesn't appreciate, while the other two lost a kid they very much wanted. Irony, Fernando says.
And here's the dipshit who doesn't appreciate his own kid properly. |
Back at the clinic, Amalia seems to have calmed down. Maria will be okay with JAntos watching over her, and yes, JAntos does love Maria and is affected by the loss of the bebe too. Yadda yadda. Gloria comes in with Rodri and Amalia greets them effusively and they catch up on everything. Gloria is introduced to Justo. Gloria's saying how she's got to find somewhere to say with Rodri. Amalia insists that Gloria and Rodri stay with them. Rodri protests, saying it would be awkward because he's broken up with Paloma. Amalia says they'll just have to "suck it up" (according to English CCs! LOL). Justo will give them all a ride home.
JAntos is sitting at Maria's bed as she sleeps. She has a dream that she's at home and hearing her baby cry. She looks and looks but never can find the baby. She collapses in tears. All during this scene all I could think of was how nicely the video editors used the gradient filter on the video. (I'm all heart!)
Behold the gradient filter (greenish on top, fades to reddish on bottom). |
A kiss on the forehead . . . |
. . . and puppydog eyes. |
AVANCES: Lots happening. Don Ruben with a gun. His henchman (whose name escapes me) has a tussle with Susanito for Ira's freedom (it appears). A gunshot is heard. Is JAntos about to be busted by the police? MUST SEE TV!!!

Wondering if they will still be starting this one early on Monday since Tempested is due to tsart and I'm pretty sure they want to try and get a good audience to offset what I've read is very bad ratings in Mexico.
I know people hate Mejia but he is light years better than juan Osorio as far as I'm concerned.
Word to the wise if you hate Mejia you may want to skip Tempested it his too.
I knew Susanito was going to demand a DNA test. Can he get a court order for that in Mexico or will he have to somehow grab a beer bottle or a shot glass or something?
I feel very bad for him because he's in for an uphill climb. Mirna is probably trying to do Lourdes and Elvirus out of Concho's half of the bar while concealing the fact that Maria's family is the rightful owner of the other half. Concho is probably going to feel very conflicted when this has time to sink in; I can't see him not having wanted a son and now he possibly has one who is talented, hard-working, handsome, and with a sense of responsibility.
Everything Elvirus isn't.
If anyone can put Oscar in his place it's Gloria and at least Roddy is OK.
Maria will recover, but I am having bad vibes about Ruben's plans for her.
I think eventually Maria will get better. Hopefully Amalia and even Coloso will realize that Maria will stay with JA and no one else.
I was a little confused by Rodrigo's disappearance and reappearance. I'll have to read the recap carefully, but it was nice to see the reunion between mother and son.

JA's encounter with those cops will lead to no good.
Took fiendish delight in Amelia being asked to leave the hospital. Justo aided that along with the you need to rest while JA gets to stay with Maria who seemed to be on the road to recovery and accepting that he wasn't responsible for what happened.
The look on Coloso's face when he wacthed the
interaction between Roddy and Gloria was interesting, Maybe he is starting to get it but with him you never know.
Urban - those people who picked up Roddy could indeed have been thinking of selling him into the sex trade or as a drug mule so he had a lucky escape. Amazing too that he only had a few road burns on his face after exiting a moving car.
All things considered it isn't really that bad. The violence is kept to a minimum, there is great music, the story could only be told in Mexico, all the rest of the Televisa garbage could be anywhere and the plot lines are insane or inane. Does anyone seriously believe a story where one week from the end a character finds out her father isn't her father, her mother wasn't her mother, her aunt is her mother, she was stolen as a child by her grandfather. Yikes give me Amelia and Coloso any day. I know people hate Mejia but he is light years better than juan Osorio as far as I'm concerned."
ITA. Far better a poor and predictable (although less than expected) screenplay like this one, than an Osorio's circus. This story fits perfectly to a very romantic audience. I'm loving it. LOL
I wonder whether Elvira will now try to kill Susanito in view of the possibility that he could take away part of her inheritance.
I was obsessed on Thursday wondering if Maria was wearing shoes on her midnight slosh. She left the hospital room with none but when JAntos found her she had shoes. Guess even the most intrepid of actresses isn't going to go barefoot on the streets of the DF.
The hospital must be the worst in Novelaland. Not only did a patient go missing, the doctor not notice hemorrhaging but when JAntos brings a soaking wet Maria back what to they do. Put her in bed, her hair and clothing drenched, with shoes on and cover her with a blanket. Huh? The poor woman was being treated for shock as a result of blood loss so now she risks getting pneumonia. I know they cleaned her up before JAntos got back in but talk about strange medical practices. LOL
I failed to mention earlier that I'm subbing for Jardinera, who had other obligations this time, but she should be back next week!
It was pretty interesting with the news of Susanito's parentage. Who would have seen that coming? Susanito and Evil Elvira are siblings!
I hope poor JAntos gets a break soon, because all he gets is heartache right now.
I'm liking Justo more and more. He seems so competent and stable. It seems like a friendship is being forged between him and Amalia. I hope that they don't end up as a couple. (Way, way, long time down the road. Justo deserves someone better! LOL)
So Jorge Salinas is 45? Well, happy birthday to him! And here's to many more!
However with Derecho and Curtis -- or their boss -- headed toward the DF and Ruben on the loose I don't think JA will be getting a break anytime soon.
For all we know Concho might even admit this at the threat of losing it altogether.
The worst of this is that he doesn't know what JA and Fernando know about Ruben, including the depth of his sick obsession with Maria. Despite not being the most honorable man himself, Concho would be appalled at this.
He has never seen Ruben in crazy mode, though. That should be a matter of time.
Not easy to answer since they aren't actually doubling up on the episodes just breaking them up oddly. This was approximately episode 109, there are 161 meaning about 52 to go. If they just show them as is that would put us into the second week of October, if they continue with snipping pieces here and there my guess would be the end of Septemer. I've long ago stopped trying to figure out how Univision schedules things.
From those I was able to compare, Univision didn't edit out a lot. All I can say is that I hope Ruben and Giuliano get truly gruesome Karmageddons.
Looks like we're in the ball park if things keep going the way they are. I din't make any adjustment for possible futbal or special event preemption's. Considering the time that this shows I doubt there will be a two hour finale unless they do it on a Sunday. So hoping that Ruben and OJ get what they have coming and am adding Elvira to the list.
Coloso and Amelia should just fade away and take mirna with them.
There are a bunch of loose ends:
Irasema: What happened to her brothers?
Isabel: Who are her parents? Why did they abandon her?
Don Concho: Why did he never tell Amalia that Pedro invested half the start-up money for JNTR?
Pedro Mendoza: Who murdered him?
Susanito: Will he get the DNA test?
Oscar/Gloria: Neither knows quite what happened to the other when her father broke them up 17 years ago. Will they ever talk about this?
Lorena: Will she ever pay for siccing that young punk on Maria? Will he ever be caught?
Don't forget the big questions
Will OJ and Ruben pay for their crimes
What about the Godfather
Will Santos be cleared
Will the dumbest cops in the universe hold onto their jobs
Will Fernando get over his fear of commitment
El Padrino is less important.
Santos will have to be cleared even if the only way to do that is to force a confession out of Giuliano.
I'd love to see Derecho and Curtis severely demoted.
Fernando has to get over his fear of commitment; they have to pair off all the single guys!
Oh, and who will adopt El Jalisquito?
